I had a dream that I was watching The Terror again and it was… a bit different.

There was a plot where Francis Crozier was pregnant. Not by Fitzjames, no; they weren’t close like that. I think by someone who was 1) a casual hookup and 2) dead. He was confiding in Fitzjames about it, though, and complaining of breast soreness. Fitzjames asked him if he was sure he was pregnant and he said yes, that he recognized the symptoms from when he was younger, and then told a story about how his mother had helped him get an abortion when he was a teenager so he could pursue his then-incipient naval career.

Unfortunately, in the dream, I was watching this version of The Terror with my father and brother and they were confused. “But he’s a man! How is such a thing possible?”

“Transgender,” I explained impatiently, because it was obvious this was the direction the show had gone with the character, even though the actor playing him was still cisgender actor Jared Harris.

“But still, no way this would happen,” I added. “I mean, look at him. He’s GOT to be post-menopausal.”

Mario has no physical mark or scar from the injury that killed him. Thanks to the power of the 1-Up mushroom, Mario’s body has 100% healed itself. Every last cell was put right back where it should be..

But the 1-Up mushroom couldn’t heal Mario’s mind. And sometimes during times of stress or exhaustion.. he feels a sort of.. phantom pain. Due to the trauma of the whole event.

Its usually a hot pain that forms right where the gashes happened. And Mario has a relatively high pain tolerance. So its really frustrating for him- and actually embarrassing for him when he immediately crumples under the pain. He doesn’t like being seen as weak. He doesn’t want Luigi to see him as weak. He needs to always be seen as strong. For Luigi.

But of course Luigi doesn’t see him like that. He never sees Mario as weak during these times. All it does is it just.. its makes Luigi really sad. To see his brother hurting like this. Knowing there isn’t really much else he can do other than get him a cold rag and wait it out..

Unpopular opinion but painkillers should be more easily and readily available to people who need them without all the red tape and "oh but what if you get addicted" oh but what if i live the rest of my life in pain.. not that it matters right?

if you give anyone the option between "be in severe pain every day for the rest of your life" or "have less pain but have to take these pills every single day for the rest of your life" the vast majority of people will pick the latter option. for some reason doctors are convinced it's better to suffer than to be addicted to something, but prolonged suffering just leads people to seek pain relief from unsafe sources rather than safe ones, and then be punished for it. i'd rather be on opiates i got at a safe and legal pharmacy for the rest of my life for my pain and be technically addicted to them than suffer in pain just so i can say i'm not an addict, or have to go looking for off the market pain relief and risk getting poisoned. but still so many people refuse to listen to addicts and disabled people, which are heavily overlapping categories lol

Being crippled is so ridiculous sometimes like what do you mean I can't walk? That's literally what my legs are for. Are you telling me they just up and quit on me? For what? Better wages? In this economy? no not wages apparently they just don't like the fact my soul is inhabiting this body and until further notice lmao they're just gonna make sure I'm miserable. 👍 why, you may ask? thought too hard; crashed

if you noticed the lack of miserable pokemon lately; I've recently experienced the wonders of ibuprofen

girl help my shoulder hurts and when i massaged it it just got worse

Doctor whumpee, too injured/sick to deal with it themselves and so they have to tell Whumper/Caretaker what to do

There's so much potential to this! Just look

What exactly is preventing them from dealing with the wound/whatever?

their hands are shaking too much(love this one)/they have a bad fever and are delirious/don't have the strength to move an inch/or more

Then we have what the treatment is?

Cleaning, disinfecting, bandaging are the basics, how about an injection(go old timey and you can do morphine for painkillers), or full on surgery if you want intense scenarios(just think about it!! Whumpee has to be up and giving instructions for the entire ordeal I don't know how but make it happen if you want), holding broken bones in place, putting in dislocated limbs, stopping the bleeding with their own clothes, these are like just off the back of my head

If you go with bad fever and delirious you can say the Caretaker(or Whumper) realizes halfway through following instructions that Whumpee's instructions are wrong and will put Whumpee in more harm

Then we get what the reaction is

Perhaps Whumpee can't help but laugh at the bad job they're doing, even in this awful situation, and Caretaker laughs weakly along

or screams for them to do it quick, then maybe apologizes later

or completely disoriented in pain, tapping ground with finger furiously, groaning, repeating instructions quietly

Just come on this is so good

It's so bittersweet that Juan was the only one who felt Cesare's constant pain, and he was glad he found something to relate to with his brother, with a relieved smile. He found solace in the fact that he could empathize with him as he endured pain all the time as well, albeit for different reasons. I wonder if he ever knew whether Cesare's suffering stemmed from being trapped in a cardinal's robe and not having a career as a soldier. Also, you can see the frustration and conflict on Cesare's face, as if he doesn't want to kill his brother but he has to since Juan became a liability and would eventually bring the family down with him, especially after Juan's descent into addiction, illness, and madness. Cesare is driven by the desire to preserve the family and because he wanted Juan's undeserved position as a Gonfaloniere. All in all, these two tormented brothers were trapped in their father's vicious cycle of favoritism and ambitions, which caused the tragic ending of their brotherhood when they could have been brothers in arms.
