They are taking a selfie to commemorate that they just got engaged. 💍💕

Eggman is a haaaairy hairy bear and Stone is an otter. The choice of bear is an obvious one for dear Eggie, he’s a bear even in human form. I chose otter for Stone, because their cute and non-threatening appearance is quite deceiving. Otters are apex predators in their natural environment and highly intelligent. Also, they often have facial markings on their snout that can look like a moustache or if modified a bit, a snazzy beard. +To my understanding, in gay slang an otter is a gay man who very meticulously takes care of his facial and body hair (unlike bears who just are their natural, hairy and beautiful selves), and come on. That’s so Stone. xD

World Wildlife Day

The World is full of amazing creatures from every possible medium. From the birds of the air to the majestic whales of the sea, wildlife abounds in the most unusual and unexpected places. Wildlife benefits us in many ways and has since timed out of mind. World Wildlife Day is a day to remind us of our responsibilities to our world and the lifeforms we share it with.

Even though we might like to think so sometimes, humans aren’t the only living things on Earth. In fact, we’re far outnumbered by other living things, from animals and plants to fungi and bacteria. Wildlife isn’t just something that we passively observe; it’s part of our world, and something we need to care for. World Wildlife Day is your chance to celebrate all wildlife, from the smallest insect to blue whales. No matter what you love about wildlife, you can spend the day taking action to help protect it.

This day is all about raising awareness of wild flora and fauna across the world. Whether you love animals, you’re passionate about plants, or you’re concerned about climate change, it’s the day that you can use to educate yourself or others. You can celebrate the incredible biodiversity across the world and perhaps get out there to explore the huge range of flora and fauna the world has to offer. Celebrating World Wildlife Day is a must for anyone who loves our planet.

History of World Wildlife Day

On March 3rd, 1973 the United Nations General Assembly took a stand to protect Endangered Species throughout the world. Whether plant or animal, the importance of these species in every area of human life, from culinary to medical, could not be understated. At this time hundreds of endangered species were being threatened every year, and extinction was at a staggeringly high rate. CITES was put into place (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) to ensure that the world did not continue to hemorrhage species that would never be seen from again.

On December 20th, 2013 another step was taken to help spread awareness of the fragility of endangered species in the world. At its 68th session, the UN declared that each year World Wildlife Day would be dedicated to a new purpose and idea to help keep people abreast of the changing nature of our world, and the treasures we stand to lose from the animal and plant kingdom if we don’t take care.

Sometimes the day highlights an endangered animal or group of animals, while in other years, it has focused on a specific issue affecting the world of wildlife. Previous themes have included getting serious about wildlife crime and listening to young voices. World Wildlife Day is implemented by the CITES Secretariat, working together with relevant UN organizations. The day might not have been around for long compared to some others, but it’s already made a big impact. If you are passionate about the Earth and everything on it, celebrating is a must.

World Wildlife Day Timeline

1900 First wildlife conservation act is passed in the US

The Lacey Game and Wild Birds Preservation and Disposition Act is passed by Congress, which is the first legislation of its kind in the United States.

1948 International Union for Conservation of Nature begins

This is the first effort toward conservation that is supported by governments and societal organizations globally and its purpose is to encourage cooperation and the sharing of resources regarding conservation.

1961 World Wildlife Federation is established

A group of individuals who are passionate about protecting endangered species and places bands together to secure funding to this end.

1973 Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species

Negotiated in Washington DC, CITES is an international agreement between governments to protect the survival of various wild species by ensuring that trade does not threaten them. The signing takes place on March 3.

2013 First World Wildlife Day is celebrated

At its 68th session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declares March 3 as the day to raise awareness and and celebrate the wild animals all over the world.

How to Celebrate World Wildlife Day

You can celebrate World Wildlife Day on your own or with others, whether you just want to spend some time contemplating the majesty of nature or you want to spread the word about just how amazing the world’s wildlife is and how we can protect it.

The first thing that always comes to mind when we think about World Wildlife Day is heading out to our local zoo or botanical conservatory and reminding ourselves of the vast variety of life our world offers. If you have children, this can be one of the best ways to really introduce them to the wonders of the animal and plant kingdom. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, an outdoor excursion with a book of local flora and fauna (That’s plants and animals) can help make that connection come even closer to home.

You could also spend the day spreading the word about the importance of our wildlife. If you love our planet, what better way to celebrate everything on it than to encourage other people to care about it too? You might create an event, get people to sponsor you or create some education materials. Choose a cause that matters to you, whether it is a local one or an international wildlife issue that you want to highlight.

Another way you can get involved is finding out what this year’s theme is by stopping by www.wildlifeday.org and finding ways to get involved. The website has a map of events that you can search to discover things to do near you, or you could add your own event to encourage others to get involved too. You can find a range of useful materials on the site too, including posters, logos, a social media kit, and a special action card that you can use to take photos. You can find suggestions for World Wildlife Day hashtags to use on social media or any materials that you create for your event too. Some of their suggestions for getting involved include running a competition, engaging with influencers, celebrities and politicians, and showing your appreciation for those who help to conserve wildlife every day.

There are few things as important as making sure that the world’s biosphere remains healthy, every time we lose a plant or animal, we have no way of knowing if a cure for a disease or some new medical breakthrough was lost with them. World Wildlife Day is your opportunity to do your part in preserving our world.

Steph took us by a neat lil oddities shop on the far side of town today and i did in fact buy myself a lil treat <3 got a v nice tanned mink pelt and a worry stone made out of bone!!

#the pelt is somft and ive named him flat fuck friday #the worry stone is super neat too #since ive been too poor to keeo up w/ my pocketwatch collection anymore ive been casually collecting worry stones #but ive got like 7+ now so maybe i'll actually invested in somethin nice to keep my collection in #theyve also got a 3d printed mold of an otter skull that i want so bad #and an actual otter skull too but i dont know a lot about telling if skulls are ethically sourced #so i want to be sure i know what to ask/look for when i go back #at which point i may then buy the real thing....if not the 3d model is good enough for me #gotta save up before i can afford either tho </3

Subnautica AU otter Stone! Inspired by this post done by @tyrannysaurusfloof.

The post gave me huuuuge inspiration of a curious otter!Stone who would at first follow Robotnik around when he crash lands through the ring. Robotnik would probably experience some paranoia about feeling like someone is constantly watching him, but he’d shrug that off due to the whole stranded-on-an-alien-planet thing. Stone would eventually maybe save the exploring doctor from a sneaky Crabsnake (the f*ckers who hide in the glowy mushrooms and bite yo ass) or otherwise reveal himself. Robotnik would be thrilled to find some intelligent life form that didn’t immediately try to kill him but actually seemed willing to co-operate and was equally curious about the other (also wow, even an anti-social like Robotnik was starting to feel a little loony from only talking to himself). So they from a companionship. In my interpretation, otter!creatures would mainly communicate with Earth otter-like squeaks (so cute!!) but Stone would be able to learn to talk with Robotnik. Maybe with a weird accent or limited pronunciation, and he would still favor squeaks and non-verbal communication.

Stone would be the first to fall head-over-tail-tip in love with the Doctor. He would try to court him (bring him fancy fish, decorate his underwater lab with pretty things etc.) but Robotnik would be Dense AF as usual. He would eventually get the memo tho, fall for the big ol’ otter eyes, and feel conflicted about returning to Earth. Stone would decide to leave with Robotnik to Earth, where they live gay-ly ever after.

NOTE!! All of the above is my dumb bullshit that I cooked in my head over the week. Tyrannysaurusfloof updated (after I had started drawing this thing) their Otter Monster Stone design to this badass Reaper-eating giant. This was just my silly normal Stone height cutie otter interpretation which I will delete if this bothers you @tyrannysaurusfloof in anyway!! I just liked this drawing and wanted to share. 😅 I’m sorry, if I offend. 🙏

Reflecting on a Fallen Friend During a Gloomy April

Good evening, vampire hunters.

On Easter Sunday, Tobias, Ioana and her otter companion, Gani had traveled to a cross in the remote highlands in the Conifers Kingdom to visit the grave of a historian that dedicated his life to preserving documents of an ancient civilization ruled by machines. A long time ago in Ioana's childhood before she joined Frederick’s band of heroes, she came to be acquainted with this man at her mother’s cafe while he was waiting for her to pour his cappuccino. Ioana asked why he was interested in this type of coffee and his answer was that it was a popular drink in this civilization. Coffee beans were once cultivated in this industrious society and since it valued hard work in a time where an intergalactic empire plotted to wipe it out, there was little room for rest. Ioana wondered how a civilization with state-of-the-art technology could not flourish into the twenty-first century. The historian wished to find answers and one day open a museum for astronomers to study in once his research is complete. Ioana traveled with him for a year and a half to locate surviving pieces of computers before he embarked on an expedition in Florida. Every day, she would ask her mother about him in the hope he’d stop by the café again and her answer was always, “He’s a wanderer that has seen different worlds. He’ll be okay.” One Halloween night, Ioana came by the café after trick-or-treating and she found her distraught mother reading a letter that the historian sent her. She approached her and asked her usual question. Her mother said nothing and handed her the letter. The historian was chased by the Veiled Nocturne and had been captured minutes after he delivered the letter through a portal small enough to fit his hand. His fate remained unknown, but rumors that circulated through the town the next day hinted that Dracula had him sentenced to death. It is said that he discovered a secret that he did not want his enemies to uncover and keeping him as one of the unliving would be too big of a risk. The only object Ioana had kept to remember her time with the historian was a hand-sized mechanism used to predict the appearance of constellations and eclipses. She had found it in a swamp on the outskirts of Vireo City.

Thinking back to that painful night, Ioana shed a tear while stroking Gani’s back. She regretted her inability to save this historian from meeting such a tragic end even though she was too powerless to step in without risking her own life. She vowed that in his memory, she will locate remnants of the fallen civilization in her travels so that the magical sector can learn from its downfall and stand up to the Veiled Nocturne. If they allow Dracula to conquer London, the light will burn out like a lone candle in an empty room and all that has made the world of magic a wondrous place will be lost. Ioana gives the cross a sad smile and gives Gani a kiss. She whispers to him, “We can complete his work...It will be hard, but we’re going to have lots of fun. I promise.” She and Tobias walks down a hilltop to a river bank where Frederick and the group have set up camp. Cronix looks on as she leaves and nods his head with a smile on his face.
