Reiner & Mikasa: A Retrospective Pt.2

“The Shield of Marley & The Blade of Paradis”

Why ReiKasa is a (BR)OTP ship that’s worth more than a fleeting glance

[*caution: a continuation of a long reflective post with the sole intention to share a fan’s perspective through available representation through manga, anime, exhibition & etc. This post is not to convince nor argue where is its place in canon, but only to explore the vast possibilities of these two amazing characters that I love. In the end, if the series ends with Mikasa alive & ending by herself or with X character, then it means Isayama believes that X character is the one she’ll find that eventual happiness with and I’m all for that. Same goes with Reiner :)] Special thanks to @berumika for sharing some of the additional points that are included in this post. Years down the line after SnK ended, I’d love to have a post I can revisit of these two amazing characters & the possibilities that could have been from time to time. I’m having absolute fun in observing how much both of these characters have grown since the series debuted in 2010.

When I first got to know SnK/AoT, it was through the anime first before manga. Bad idea for me. My initial perspectives of Mikasa & Reiner were skewed and that was later rectified as I navigated the original source directly. Eren is the first protagonist that was introduced by the series creator but I was drawn to Mikasa & Reiner when I started the manga after Season 1 ended.

Trainees

These top two trainees of the 104th batch are closely matched to each other in ranking. We don’t see them interact directly in the anime, but in the early panels of the manga, Reiner could be seen sitting down with Eren, Mikasa & Armin during mealtimes.

Sure, Mikasa can be expected to not converse with Reiner directly, but if her two childhood friends have their good friend sitting together for meals, at the very least we can expect them to have some brownie points in socialization.

Apart from being total gorgeous hotties, they’re both physically strong people, with Reiner always being second to Mikasa in terms of brute strength. Total muscle pairing and I could see them being at par with each other during physical drills. Reiner & Mikasa could go all out, even beyond 100% and the other would be physically capable to take/receive the force. Shadis would’ve tasked them to lead the physical trainings from time to time. They have been sparring partners, evident from the moment Mikasa threw Reiner across the field into Eren who’s sparring with Annie. Their fitness regime would be in-sync with each other. I could see them having mad respect for each other and secretly admire the other person’s prowess and skill.

Connection through Eren

As highlighted primarily in Pt.1, Eren has been shown to look up or aspire to be high achievers like Reiner and Mikasa both. He wanted to be as strong as the two of them. The odds of the very same people he look up to, as the two individuals who would be able to stop him, I would suspect as very high at this point.

When they were younger, Reiner has always been the one that’s pulled Eren up when he’s down, nearly giving up & at the lowest points of his life. He was also the one who convinced Eren to ‘keep on moving forward’, which we’ll learn later was one of the most ironic moments that Reiner recalled as he feels responsible for everything that begun, which also pushed his guilt inside him to his near-suicide attempt.

Survey Corps

Reveal on Wall Rose

Mikasa, was one of the few junior SC members who were called in for the secret meeting with the unit’s top brass the night before the reveal. She was made aware of Reiner & Bertolt’s possible identity as the enemy after she assisted with apprehending Annie in Wall Sina. While Reiner was talking to Eren, Mikasa could be seen being highly agitated, hands shaking as she waited with unease breath for Reiner & Bertolt to make their move.

She was later seen questioning her hesitance on delivering the killing blow or at least enough to incapacitate them. Mikasa called Reiner & Bertolt “the plague of humanity” in anger and absolute disappointment. They were still her friends that she knew for three years & it had been difficult for her to kill them.

Thunder Spears Training

Mikasa could be seen reflecting in a combination of unease, sadness & regret as she recalled back the moment she was unable to break Reiner’s armor with her blades.

Return to Shinganshina

Mikasa was the one who crippled the Armored’s legs. She wasn’t as emotional as Connie, Jean & Sasha but there was a deep, painful rumination on her part the moment they assumed that Reiner was dead dead. She was also the one who noticed the sudden move from Reiner’s Armored Titan. In the anime, she could be seen angry & frustrated at Reiner’s refusal to confess that she pulled too hard on the bandage in her hands while she was helping Jean with his injuries.

Time-Skip (Current)

Reiner’s reminiscence & nightmares

Reiner’s reminiscence of Mikasa was indirect, but he highlighted her (and Armin’s) fierce, unwavering loyalty towards Eren. He had recurring nightmares of her & Levi that are the symptoms of his PTSD. The anime specifically used her shot to highlight the last image of her that he saw: anger.

Assault in Liberio

You could see the existing disappointment on her face when Reiner’s partially transformed Titan appeared, having to cross paths again in such a way after four years. She could’ve intervened the way she did with Galliard’s Jaw but she didn’t. Eren said Reiner’s out of any energy left to retaliate and Mikasa didn’t disagree. At this point, Mikasa is already affected by Eren’s actions in murdering the women & children inside the building that he shifted in and the destruction they all left behind.

Connection through Gabi

Reiner’s young cousin reminded Armin & Mikasa of a young Eren. The difference is that, Gabi had an early opportunity to be saved through the compassion showed by Mikasa and Sasha’s beloved family. The very same people who had every right to be sad, grieving and taking out their anger on the child who gunned down their beloved friend & daughter.

Mikasa doesn’t verbally express her emotions but it can be shown through her body language & facial expressions. I love seeing the tender way she pressed Gabi’s head onto her shoulder as protection and a symbolism of safety. It was a bit sad that this ‘bond’ was short-lived but what an amazing connection it would’ve been if Mikasa & Gabi had been given more space to develop their bond in canon.

Concern for Reiner & Annie

Usually when Mikasa verbally expresses something, it is usually important/significant to her. In ch.124, she could be seen asking Gabi about Reiner’s location. Why? It’s because she is concerned for Reiner’s safety. If his Armors were undone, he was vulnerable and with pure Titans and the Colossal Titans walking around, he would be in danger.

“We need to help Reiner & Annie.” She was heavily concerned with Reiner and Annie’s lives at the docks. But this moment is more important for Connie as a callback to the moment when Annie & Reiner both had saved Connie when they were trainees.

Adjacent Manga/Official Art Paneling(s)

In the current final arc of the manga, (several panels have been highlighted in Pt.1) it’s quite interesting to note that Mikasa & Reiner’s characters/panelings have been drawn adjacent to each other. I could also see the way Armin, Reiner & Mikasa (ARM) are getting primary focus by Isayama in this final arc.

Others (Misc./Semi-canon)

Cool-faced Cookie (Attack on Titan Game)

When Reiner suggested the player to do a melee practice with two other sparring partners, he immediately spotted Mikasa & Historia. It’s very interesting to note that Reiner’s nickname for Mikasa is “Cool-faced cookie” as he hinted the player to ask Mikasa for an impromptu practice.

The blink and miss furtive glance(s)

In Lost Girls OVA’s ED by WIT, a screenshot of the primary 104th walking together could be seen. Mikasa could be seen sneaking a glance at Reiner.

In a scene during the fresh SC recruits discussing intensely about Eren’s role as humanity’s hope, Reiner could be seen glancing silently with concern for Mikasa, as Jean questions her vouch of confidence in Eren’s abilities.

In Snk OVA#3, Mikasa is grouped with Reiner for the excursion and they could be seen having good teamwork together. When Mikasa’s ‘sixth senses’ are triggered due to Eren being in danger, Reiner could be seen looking at her direction immediately as if sensing her distress.

Characteristics & Zodiac Signs

Amazing/Compassionate with children

Known as the Shield of Marley, Reiner’s a caring keeper, a natural leader and a provider who’s naturally amazing with children. Everyone looks up to him. Would’ve made a good family man if the circumstances were different. Based on his characteristics & physical attribute, he reminds me of Mikasa’s father below, no matter how short-lived he was. I could see her admiring that side of him even if it wasn’t mentioned directly. They are both loving, selfless, protective towards their child/ward.

Mikasa, true to her name, an Ackerman, a genetically-enhanced super soldier/warrior of Paradis that wields their blades with the highest efficiency. Though she might not seem as natural with children, did come from a healthy & loving upbringing with her parents for nine years. Her real persona as a child pre-awakening is a curious, thoughtful and actually a warm-hearted girl. Post-awakening characteristics could also be contributed from the traumas imposed by the murder of her parents, the fall of Wall Maria, the death of Carla & having to shoulder the immediate responsibility as Eren’s new ‘guardian’/caregiver/problem-solver/mess-cleaner.

She shown her compassion towards Gabi, which in turn had proved to the little girl how there are good-hearted, forgiving people in the Island. Mikasa could be observed as being heavily concerned with Falco as she questioned Jean about the young boy. One could see the anger on her face when she saw Connie took off and abducted Falco to be fed to his mom. She drew the line in harming children even if they’re trained enemy soldiers.

Aquarius & Leo’s Compatibility

Reiner’s a Leo and Mikasa’s an Aquarius. Their characteristics are too coincidental to their respective astrological signs to be disregarded completely.

He’s an extrovert (Ref: younger!Reiner. Older Reiner too but his PTSD’s and maturity have taken over his more outgoing personality) that compliments her introvert personality yet they both have their inner demons to deal with and could somehow understand that about each other. He’s a ray of sunshine that could enlighten her melancholic personality. Yet their dominant personalities, although might be clashing at first, eventually would lead them to respect the other’s perspective. This would ring true when they were younger. Currently they have grown older, wiser and more understanding of the other.

At the current Final Arc, this has been highlighted in Part 1, recent chapters have shown older Reiner and Mikasa’s unspoken respect and understanding for each other. The current Reiner’s natural leadership as a born Leo is very apparent. Reiner was being very mindful of her feelings as Eren is a very sensitive subject & Mikasa took in Reiner’s words with serious consideration.

It would be great to see more of their combined synergy as Reiner & Mikasa’s teamwork could be seen once again in ch.135. Aquarius & Leo would take turns to take a back seat while letting the other leads.

They are actually very physically and sensually compatible with each other & could potentially be an unstoppable force if they were to fight for the same side. At the moment, I’m hoping to see this potentially deadly combination once again in ch.136 onwards. They could’ve overtaken Eren’s Founding Form is it wasn’t for OG!Ymir’s one-sided overkill powers. To the real God who created the parasite worm, please take powers away frpm this uncontrollable grandma in a little girl’s body.

More of Mikasa’s Aquarius & Reiner’s Leo Compatibility Meter with description below:

Since this is SnK and not Berserk/Tokyo Ghoul/insert other josei manga titles, no one’s having sex directly haha In an ideal world, Reiner & Mikasa’s physical attractions for each other will almost be off the charts. “When they find true emotion, Aquarius might actually end up respecting the king”. In current arc, this can be observed. She respects Reiner & his words.

The above describes both Mikasa and Reiner respectively. Mikasa does not reach for heroism directly but it can be seen indirectly from the way she had inspired a child Louise through her bravery, protecting Gabi and rescuing/protecting the Azumabito Service crew from the Jeagerists. Reiner has always been born to be a hero, regardless of the circumstances of his conception or birth.

“If they end up fighting for the same cause, they could turn down entire governments and use their incredible force to change anything in the world.”

Even oppressive, destructive supernatural, God-like powers? Ymir & Eren, better be prepared.

“To get there, these two would have to stop the battle they have with each other.” Check and Check.

“Leo -- has the ability to give clarity to any situation.” Ch.133. That was not Reiner projecting. He’s always been Eren’s counterpart. He’s telling the readers that there’s a part of Eren out there that still wants to be stopped since he has surrender his will to Ymir. She took his words into serious consideration and in Paths, voices out to Eren on his sins and burden.

“Leo is exactly what Aquarius needs to find love. -- to liberate and shine as if they have been searching for one another for many lifetimes.” In an ideal world or in my gazillion AUs: Reiner and Mikasa could be soulmates.

This could ring true for the younger Reiner & Mikasa.

Reiner and Mikasa both are indeed strong, selfless individuals in each other’s eyes. This can be observed in Ch.133 & 135. Reiner feared her but respect her strength & feelings when it relates to Eren nevertheless. Even Reiner was taken aback by Pieck’s ultimatum in blowing the Founder’s neck, although Armin had suggested the same thing the night before.

“Just like the Sun and the lightning don’t go together, Aquarius should take over on a rainy day, in a depressive crowd or in places where they both feel as if they would drown. This is where Leo needs to give in and let their partner rule the sky--” It wasn’t a rainy day or depressive crowd in ch. 135, it was a chaotic shitstorm and they were all not drowning but dying. Period. Our dear Mikasa took charge like a BAMF Queen that she is. She was putting her life on the line to protect the four injured men behind them. She aimed to buy them more time if she could as everyone expected it to be the end. As highlighted in Pt.1, you could see the helplessness on Reiner’s face when he saw Mikasa’s breaking point.

Final Exhibition

The Final Exhibition highlights the Last Stand: the direct final confrontation between The Founding/Attack against The Armored, with Mikasa being in the middle of the confrontation, tipping the scales of the outcome. Before, she assisted Eren against Reiner. Currently, she is working with Reiner to stop Eren.

Trio(s) Parallel

An interesting panel from ch.97:

EMA & RBA have always been lauded as the main trio of their respective sides. We have seen Armin taking over Bertolt’s powers & is potentially promised a future with the girl that Bertolt had feelings for. Recognize the probable pattern?

Guy from trio 1 ate Guy from trio 2′s Titan & is promised a potential future with the girl he cares for/have feelings for/close with from the trio.

Only one between between Eren & Reiner will remain. What if the story begins with Eren but will end with Reiner all along?

SnK HighSchool AU / Breakfast Club X-over

In the movie, the Jock (Quarterback!Reiner) ends up with the Rebel (Goth!Mikasa). He looks past her eccentricity & see her for who she is. This is a fun crossover by Isayama but very interesting to see Armin, Mikasa & Reiner work together to save Eren in the fake previews.

Whether the combined strength and perseverance of the Blade of Paradis & the Shield of Marley be enough to save the world from total annihilation? It remains to be seen very, very soon.

No matter how the series ends, whether both Reiner and Mikasa survive or not, I’ll be looking back in pride upon seeing their journey, growth & dynamics as either individual or together in this beautiful series by Hajime Isayama’s brilliant mind. Because of him, these two characters inspired his readers, myself included, to be brave and fight for what they truly believe in: humanity & its continuation. It has been an incredible ride and I will continue to enjoy writing for this OTP/BROTP, that I’ve fell so deeply in love with and their vast possibilities.

found a ship meme on tumblr, decided to procrastinate with it :D

for the purpose of this meme, most of my hc's come from my canon divergence rom-com series The Set-up, where Ravus doesn't lose his arm, Ignis doesn't go blind, the Scourge is driven back, everybody lives, and the two share a flat and live out fantasies of domestic bliss.

Never heard of it/ Notp / Dislike / used to ship / maybe / ship it / aww / otp / IS IT CANON YET?

2. What non sexual activities do they like to do together?

Discuss matters of state until they make more sense in their heads, then sit or lie quietly together and forget all about matters of state.

3. Who does chores around the house?

They both just kind of do the things they feel need doing. No assignments, no expectations; things just Get Done, and their shared flat stays orderly and clean somehow.

4. Who’s the better cook?

Ignis, but Ravus is extra critical of his Tenebrae dishes (no hard feelings on Ignis' part: it's to be expected).

5. Who’s the funniest drunk?

They both are. Corny jokes and puns EVERYWHERE and only the two of them are laughing.

6. Do they have kids?

They don't have plans to have kids, but living things that need taking care of tend to just drop onto their combined lap.

7. Do they have any traditions?

They've come to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries privately. Apart from that, both already take cultural and state traditions seriously.

8. What do they fight about?

Ravus tends to take the "iron hand" approach to resolving issues, while Ignis prefers the more cautious, diplomatic approach. Sometimes this makes for a bit of moral conflict. But they manage to reason it out to a consensus.

9. What would they do if they found their pairing tag on tumblr? (If they have one)

Ravus would nope out of there so fast, with choice words for the people who engage in such tomfoolery.

Ignis, however, would secretly browse in his spare time and take inspiration from the raciest art and fics for their next tryst 😏

10. Who cried at the end of Marley and me?

Ravus. Ignis is amused.

11. Who always wins at Mario kart?

Ravus. Mainly because he has more practice. He unwinds with reflex/action games, while Ignis just plays chill games like ACNH when he has the time.

12. One thing I like about this ship?

The aesthetics. They pretty.

13. One thing I don’t like about the ship?

A happy ending for them is not possible in canon 😭 unless Episode Ignis: Verse 2 counts as canon.

14. The song I would say fits them?

I dunno if this counts, but I think of them whenever I listen to this version of Astor Piazolla's "Libertango."

15. Another headcanon about the paring? (Free space)

They bond over their wards, Luna and Noctis. Both "protectors" love their wards very much, and want them to be happy. So even if Ravus has beef with Noctis over old problems with the Lucian crown, he can listen to Ignis gush about him for hours. And then he thinks that if a person as remarkable as Ignis can vouch for Noctis' character, then yes - maybe he IS worthy of Lunafreya, and can love her the way she deserves.

Craig and Those Guys, Headcanons Masterpost ~

Craig Tucker

Looks:

tall and gangly

has really pretty, thick black hair, but is always wearing his chullo so he always has hat hair lol

light blue/grey-ish eyes

long face, defined jaw

really smooth skin, which is odd since he has no routine what so ever

casual style, lot’s of hoodies and those Adidas pants with the white stripe at the side?

Personality:

he has a resting bitch face, but like, as a personality?

like, when he’s not thinking about anything special or talking about something he cares about, he’ll just sorta tune out and look pissed and/or bored

but he isn’t grumpy or careless

just a little aloof lol

cares a lot about his boyfriend, friends, family and pet(s)

doesn’t always feel confident when showing it tho

dorky, he loves space and his niche shows and likes tidying haha

has the dorkiest laugh and is super embarrassed about it hehe

Friendships:

isn’t that good with people tbh

but he really values his friends, and enjoys spending time with them

will fight for his friends, hands down

is weary around new people, like the the two boy gangs started to hang out a little more, he was the one who took the longest to open up and be chill with it

likes seeing his friends having fun and being passionate, so he always tries to keep up with their interests etc

which sometimes surprises people

but like I said, he is really a nice guy, he just has a rising bitch personality

Family:

has a healthy and good family dynamic

is kinda awkward with showing them affection tho

his dad and him have a “slap each other on the back and huff” type of relationship

but deep down they both know there’s a lot of love and acceptance there<3

Laura is a cool mom, fight me

not like, too cool, she has rules and is an authoritarian person

but she is also funny and sees through her kids’ bullshit

Tricia is really similar to Craig in a lot of ways

they stay out of each other’s way mostly, but sometimes hang out casually

doesn’t really fight that much?

Ships and relationships:

y’all know it, it’s always creek time around here

I usually see Craig as demiromatic gay

he and Tweek totally have that best friends and lovers type of relationship

like, not too lovey dovey, but sure as hell passionate at times

Craig genuinely have so much fun with his bf man, he just wants to hang out with him all the time

isn’t too creative when it comes to dates and stuff, but he really tries

often gets help from Token and the others when it comes to it

actually doesn’t mind PDA, at least chill PDA like handholding and kisses etc

Token Black

Looks:

pretty tall and broad, but not like, super fit, he’s just naturally like that

around the start of high school he started growing his hair out a little, he keeps it in a short and manageable length

he has very remarkable eyes, dark brown at the edges and they get almost golden by his pupils

handsome, simply put haha

I would describe his style as preppy/casual?

like, he dresses nicely, and likes looking sharp, but he isn’t a snob about it!

I feel like he would look amazing in purple and wear it often!

Personality:

always writing in a little notebook

loud, contagious laughter

big conscience, always tries to do the right thing

while his friends and classmates loves the perks of his wealth, Token himself feels bad about it a lot

he has a tendency to get a little down about the state of world and it’s unfairness

he works with a lot of charities and is a volunteer and both the pet shelter, the homeless shelter and the children ward of the hospital, and he really, genuinely loves doing it

Friendships:

very protective of his friends

because he volunteers a lot, he started running into Stan and Kenny at both the pet shelter and homeless shelter a lot, as Stan is a huge animal rights lover and Kenny genuinely likes helping both people and animals

the three of them start becoming better friends because of this, eventually brining the two groups closer together

he is one of the few people Craig will actually go to for relationship advice etc

which is kinda funny because Token is a casual dater all through High School

nothing wrong with that! and like, he still has great advice and is very good with people in general

very good at making people feel included

the mom friend 100%

comforts Clyde, keeps Jimmy’s antics under control, keeps Tweek from killing Cartman and helps Craig actually communicate dhslkfhb

Family:

has a good relationships with his parents!

but feels like he has to live up to a certain level of expectations at times

his dad is a bit old-fashioned in some senses, but he means well

and both his mom and dad loves him a lot and is super proud of what a wonderful person he is (so am I ilu Token you’re doing amazing sweetie)

Ships and relationships:

first of all, I think Token is bi!

I like Tyde, but my OTP for him is Tokenny!

I just really like the dynamic potential and think they would make each other the best versions of themselves?

Token is great at being suave and charming in general and on first dates that’s casual, but if he already has a crush and/or feelings he is a mess

but like, a cute mess

anyways, here’s a tiny Tokenny fluff one-shot I wrote a while back lol

Tweek Tweak

Looks:

big, soft & fluffy hair

big, nervous looking eyes

either electric green or lively brown

soft sweaters and big flannels

sweater sleeves always covering his hands

pale, perfect skin

soft freckles on his nose, shoulders and hands

crooked smile

slight gap between his front teeth

a little shorter Craig, slightly more defined much wise naturally

Personality:

very confused

doesn’t know what day is it

has gotten a lot better at dealing with his anxiety, but still twitches a bit because of the meth coffee his parents had him drink as a kid

juMpY

very funny when he chills enough to be funny haha

has a kind heart, esp when it comes to people and animals in difficult situations

he has so much compassion in his heart, man

but also has a short fuse

is pretty scary when he gets pissed

will get into a physical fight

esp if anyone insults his friends

which is why Cartman is terrified of him

Friendships:

his friends makes him feel very lucky and grateful and he tries to make up for it a lot

often bakes as a stress relief, which makes Clyde love him even more lol

is pretty good friends with Kenny

he likes to just hang around people sometimes, doing nothing together, and Kenny enjoys that too, so they often do that

Tweek loves these dudes a lot, but there’s always so much going on yanno

good friends with Wendy!

they share a lot of the same values

he has a secret talent when it coms to drawing, only Clyde knows (by accident)

always tries to include those who is a bit on the outside

Family:

complicated

his parents have always taken a lot of advantage of him, let’s be real

I often headcanon them selling out to Harbucks at some point, but they keep running the store

but they have to hire more people and is under more surveillance now, so that saves Tweek a little

he still works there tho

so does Kenny

honestly, Tweek avoids his parents as much as he can, there is a lot of resentment there

he loves Craig’s family tho, and they love him back <3

Ships and relationships:

yeah, Creek it is

I also like Twenny tho, but creek is my OTP!

I usually write Tweek as gay, but I’m open to other interpretations

but he likes boys in any scenario to me

often has his hands in Craig’s jacket pockets, or hands onto his arm, just likes being physically near him

Craig likes it too, so

Tweek still struggles with sleeping, but always sleeps amazingly with Craig around :softeyes:

blushes so hard when Craig manages to catch him off guard with compliments and soft stuff

is pretty good at being romantic, and does really sweet stuff for birthdays and anniversaries and stuff!

Jimmy Valmer

Looks:

thick mop of brown hair that’s purposely messy

would never admit it but he spends time every morning making it that way

light brown eyes that turns golden in the sun

had braces for years, so now his teeth are very straight and white and perfect

a few cute freckles on his face

actually pretty tall, but because of his crutches he slouches a bit so it doesn’t always show

Personality:

has the best one-liners

living legend for having the record for both the best grades and highest number of detentions at once

can’t shut up in class

sarcastic lil’ shit

sometimes speaks before he thinks but never means harm

good at seeing when he’s out of line and has no problem apologizing!

AoS rewatch: 1x06 F.Z.Z.T (1/3)

I’m probably gonna make few post for this episode because it’s one of my favorite, not only in season 1, but in whole series. Every time I watch it I’m really emotional. Even now when I can quote some scenes from head - I’m still afraid when I watch it, I’m worrying about Jemma and I’m moved because of how this team became something more than people working together. And I’m really big Fitzsimmons shipper so this episode was big step for me. When I watched this for the first time - I knew Jemma is gonna make it, I knew there will be some feelings between Fitzsimmons - gifs with them made me want to check this tv show. And I loved them from beginning but this episode made me love them even more, made me realize that this OTP is gonna be death of me, I don’t think I ever loved any fictional couple as much I love them...so yeah, this episode is really important to me.

I was trying to think about my thoughts when I first watched this episode, but tbh - I don’t think I could recreate it completely ;) but I tried so here’s what I remember from my first watch ;)

This reminds me of “Are you afraid of the dark?”

My thoughts now:

I feel like most about this episode was already said. I love it, it gave me so many feels - I watched it many times. It’s the moment when Fitzsimmons stop being comic relief characters...I wonder if JedMo where planning this from beginning- to use Iain’s and Liz’s chemistry and amazing acting to make me cry for next 6 seasons? Did they knew that this episode is gonna be so important for many fans? Because it’s not only amazing episode for FS shippers - we also have wonderful Philinda scenes! You can see trust and respect between those two, and there is more for them than we see. Once again we can see why Coulson is their leader. For people like me - who have soft spot for team becoming family - this episode is also excellent. We can see all of them bonding, supporting Jemma, not giving up. SkyWard shippers had also scenes for themselves (now I’m not happy about it, but when I watch it for the first time I thought that this is going in direction I thought it will. Ward warning up to the idea of working with others, caring about them and clearly some feelings between him and Skye start building up.... once again writers made me feel stupid now because I really believed he’s a good one!)

This episode have my heart. I love it, and I’m really crying thinking about this - how it was the moment when Fitz realized he’s in love with Jemma. And I know a lot of people would disagree with me but I think Jemma was in love with him too back then, she just didn’t know what this feeling was. Those two were beside each other for so long, and they were so young, so I think they don’t really know what this is, those feelings they share, connection they have.

This episode makes me emotional but also happy because we have team bonding, Fitzsimmons, Philinda and bus kids friendship. All things I love.

Also - I have to make confession. Few days ago there was discussion how to prenouce episode title “F.Z.Z.T” and I didn’t mention it because I’m afraid you’re gonna think there is something wrong with me - but because I never knew how I should prenouce it - I always referred to this episode in my head as “Fitzzzz” 😂😂😂. It was just easier for me that other option and this episode focus a lot on Fitzsimmons so it was my name for it lol. It still is :D. And I know this title have nothing to do with Fitz but this just stuck with me :D.

Thoughts/ Background Half Blood Prince

A smash and grab for Ollivander. Not one person in this stunned group tries to shoot a stunner at these people or stop them in any way.

I am taking this way too seriously, but…. Muggleborns are the bridge between the Muggle and magical world, and the death eaters are attacking a bridge. Voldemort seems to want total separation between Muggles and Wizards, but he also wants to subjugate Muggles. Having these peaks of the Muggle world, and the destruction that wizards can cause is a great way to emphasize the delicate balance between the two worlds.

This obviously also takes place after 9/11. It would make sense that these people were more thinking towards terroism than anything supernatural. Anything could easily be blamed on that. Or faulty construction.

Hottie waitress is trying to get it from “Go”, and I don’t blame her. But, she is way too cute for his ass.

You would think that Harry would be more cautious, but then again, what easier way to fool a group of death eaters then to ride the London Underground for hours at a time.

Why would Slughorn make it look as if this house had been attacked? Why not just make it look like it had been burglared? It specifically looks as if it had been attacked. There are scratches and holes on the walls, everything is askew like hexes had been flying.

When I first saw this movie, I thought that it was a huge waste of time to see all of this magic, but now, I look at these big displays of magic and am just in awe. I love when we really get to see what magic is capable of that is more than just cursing someone else. The scene in Crimes of Grindlewald while he escapes at the beginning is one example of a huge display of magic that is both interesting and epic.

Voldemort knows what Slughorn has in his mind. They weren’t trying to recruit him, but to kill him.

Even in this picture of Lily, she looks way older than what she should be.

Dumbledore is a master manipulator. Throughout most of the series, Dumbledore refers to Harry as “Harry”, but in Slughorn’s presence he constantly refers to him as Mr. Potter to emphasize to Slughorn the prize that is before him.

Yes, Harry, you will not be messing up the fan’s OTPs today.

The Weasleys must have felt very comfortable with all of the moving staircases in Hogwarts based off of the look of the Burrow.

This is one movie where Harry and Ginny exhibit some chemistry toward one another.

Ron just casually going to touch Hermione’s face. They say that people will only let others who they are truly comfortable around to touch their face. The same goes for the attempters…. Lol

I love that Harry is barefoot in this scene. It shows that he is comfortable, and that he feels at home.

There is an old fashioned lamp on the desk which is lovely.

Mrs. Weasley was around for the first war. She didn’t participate in the Order the last time, but now, she knows, she has inside knowledge, that things are moving in the darkness. And she is rightfully terrified.

Snape’s village here is cookie cutter in the same way that Pivet Drive is. Though, Pivet Drive is clean and bright while Snape’s town is dingy and smoke ridden like there are factories or something similar nearby that is polluting the air.

Snape’s house would look like this. Floor to ceiling books. No personal photos. Dark. Two candlesticks that don’t count as bobbles because they are functional.

At this stage, Snape has fully returned to Voldemort. He also knows that Sirius isn’t the one who betrayed Lily, but that it was Wormtail. But, he can’t outright kill Wormtail because Wormtail went and performed a valuable service to the Dark Lord. So, Snape does the next best Slytherin thing and decides to torture Wormtail by making him serve him. Now, Snape has Wormtail as his personal servant and play thing until things finally break. It is no more than Peter deserves tbh.

Narcissa is the epitome of pureblood etiquette and style. She is politely making small talk with her host while Bellatrix is in the background snooping in Snape’s stuff.

Bellatrix was one of those rich girls who stole petty little objects whenever they can get their hands on something. Voldemort and her must have bonded over this.

Bellatrix lets out a snore when Snape talks about Dumbledore. She must have heard this reasoning for Snape’s supposed loyalty one too many times. She suspects heavily that Snape isn’t quite what he seems. She also resents him most likely for the closeness that he has with her master.

Snape allowed himself to be goaded into this. He invited it when he mentioned that he could help them in the first place.

The statue outside of the shop in Diagon Alley. So clever.

The twins are top level business men here. No more orange bell bottoms for these two.

Every thing is just orange and yellow and bright.

They already have on assistant. Good on you, boys.

“I will have order.” Someone really should make sure that Umbridge was sent one of these before her arse was packed off to Azkaban.

The twins are litearlly living their best lives here. Business is booming. Surrounded by people. Spreading mischief even after their school days are over.

Harry gets things for free because he financed this shop.

Harry is like, “Wait, what about DEaN??” Where was all this great acting and connection when it came time to film Seven and Eight?

Cormac ain’t a bad catch. He is very traditionally handsome.

Brown, I see your arse. You best sit down. This is not going to end well for you.

Fred and George’s shop probably has been warded to the nines from their good and yet to be introduced brother Bill.

You see one Fenrir Greyback poster in a dark alley. One: So, the film makers are sure that we know who he is. Two: This is the level with which the ministry has hunted for criminals compared to the nearly every square surface and newspaper add ins that Harry’s face get plastered on in Deathly Hallows.

Draco, even here seems to exhibit a lot of reluctance.

Draco is a smart guy. Like, I don’t think that can be denied. He wouldn’t have been able to do what he does in this movie if it wasn’t for some modicum of intelligence.

I like that movie Harry is really supportive of his friends.

Ginny and Luna BFF’s in the making.

The one time ever that Harry James Potter was right about something.

Ron and Hermione should have known that Harry was up to something.

I have a feeling that more fuss from the others wasn’t made about the darkness powder probably because since they boarded the train that was about the fifth time they had seen some sort of Weasley product go off. And though, this is a compartment full of Slytherins, the odds are that at least some of them have their products in their bags as well.

Draco, however, is finally aware that stuff is really kicking off, and he is rightfully suspicious.

I don’t know if this was an intentional choice, but Draco’s appearance in this movie speaks volumes about his mental state. He looks thinner than he has in the other films, and then also, the lightness of his hair adds to the gauntness of his face.

He is sitting in chair 14.

Harry just had to get comfortable up there. Draco knows now that he can’t trust anyone at Hogwarts. He knows that he can’t trust Snape like he thought he could. He knows that Snape is really working for Voldemort, and he now knows for a fact that nearly everyone around them aren’t as they have pretended to be for so long. Draco is in a highly paranoid state because he truly feels like he has no one that he can turn to or trust.

You can see Hagrid and Fang waiting to take the first years up to the castle.

Draco looks very satisfied with himself after finally getting Harry.

I mean, that is a viscous thing to say to anyone, but Draco is now immersed in this wizard AK wizard world. It’s a wonder that he didn’t turn Harry over right then. Why not just grab Harry, apparate, and take him immediately to Voldemort? Draco had a golden opportunity here, but wasted it because in some part of his brain he still sees this as a school boy rivalry. Or would Voldemort really put killing Dumbledore over killing Harry at this point? Was he that scared of the man?

Luna is the real hero in this scene.

Movie!Harry makes me feel way happier than book!Harry sometimes. Merely because of the way that movie!Harry treats Luna and Neville. Yes, book Harry evolves in that way, but movie Harry seems to really value these friends the way that I think he should.

The way that Draco looks at the walking stick makes me sad. You know it was Lucius’, and though Lucius is a horrible prick, he is still Draco’s father, and he needs this object to feel some sort of connection to his father.

Neville is watching Hermione beat Ron, not even blinking an eye.

You do see here, and from the first that Dumbledore has aurors now watching the school. We don’t get any interaction with them, but they are a visual reminder about what’s going on security wise.

I can only hope to crush student’s dreams like McGonagall crushes Ron’s.

This movie has so many like unexpected funny moments that make it stand apart from the book in a way that the other films don’t.

So, we are saying in this film that Katie Bell is in the same year as Harry, Ron, and Hermione? I don’t know why the filmmakers settled on this. This is a Padma in Gryffindor situation again.

You really only noticed Hermoine’s bedraggled appearance here, but several of them are looking worse for wear.

I always got the feeling that Dumbledore was trying to make up for some lost time here. He largely ignored Harry in the last movie. And Harry has lost those people in his life who would event think to question him about his love life. Dumbledore is trying to make some connection with here. He misses the mark trying to connection with him in this manner especially about Hermione, but it is still very interesting.

Harry is just like, “Um, no.”

I think this interaction makes Harry feel better though. It makes him feel like he isn’t just being trained as a weapon, but that Dumbledore is actually interested in all aspects of his life. I can’t decide if this is underhanded of Dumbledore or not.

Okay, Wool’s Orphanage in the forties looks to be one of those horrible places. It looks like it is in the city, and away from anything green. The walls look like they are made of ceramic tile. Voldemort’s room literally looks out onto a brick wall. It rains all of the time in England. I mean, come on, this was the environment to raise a serial killer in. The room is bleak, only a bed, chair, and desk. Hardly any personal belongings.

I like Dumbledore’s look here. He is in the Muggle world, but that doesn’t mean that he needs to give up any flair.

Dumbledore read Tom Riddle’s mind. Is it legal to read the minds of young children because that’s what Dumbledore did here. How else would he have known that Riddle had those things in his wardrobe?

I don’t think Dumbledore would have done anything about it.

I don’t think that even if Dumbledore would have known what Voldemort would become I don’t think Dumbledore would have been capable of killing a child. I just don’t.

This sounds like Harry is about to be pimped out, which in a manner of speaking he is.

Most Quidditch scenes I could go without, but Ginny and Harry tag teaming tryouts. Ginny speaking up for slightly quieter Harry. Hermione in the stands. The people behind Ron fighting over the best brooms. It is just amazing.

You literally live in the same dorm as Hermione, Cormac, I mean, dang, and you have lived with her for years and years. Why couldn’t you have talked to her yourself?

Just like, what a situation to get yourself in. Hanging from the end of your broom.

Lavender is all fake concern and joy, over exerting her dang self, but Hermione is actually doing something to make sure that her man gets this position.

That couple behind the trios head are having an intense study-flirt session, and I approve.

Neville is dosing in that chair while he sits next to a dosy.

I always thought that the Gryffindor common room looked a lot like a fairytale. The walls are covered in tapestries, everything looks warm and inviting.

Ginny was raised with many, many older brothers. She knows how to get toys out of reluctant hands.

That’s Neville and Seamus going off to Hogsmeade in front of the trio?

Dean is laying it on thick!!! He is a slick git.

Ron is like, “That thought never crossed my…..oh… wait, yes, it has.”

Poor Hermione, her feelings are about to pop out all over the place.

I always thought this scene was super cool, no offense to Katie. This just shows what kind of dark arts are currently being practiced in the Malfoy household

It looks to be a distinctive sort of necklace. If wizards thought for one second like Muggles they would have had people tracing the origins of that necklace. Straight up, old fashioned detective or journalistic work would have solved that question.

I love that Snape’s wand is black and sort of ordinary looking. It looks harsh almost in its plainness, almost like the man himself.

Harry is right.

“She’s got nice skin.”

I would want professor Merrythought’s office too. It looks amazing.

Blaise is silently judging everyone this whole time, and I am living for it.

Ginny has shown up really late for this shindig. She only shows up in time for dessert. Most people would just be like, “Okay, I think I’ll pass.”

Harry, your heart eyes are showing.

Slughorn really wants to justify himself, and I don’t blame him. It’s hard to admit your mistakes. It’s even harder to admit your mistakes when said mistake produced a mass murderer.

Ron, please get your head out of your ass. I feel bad. Hermione, like most women, build up romantic encounters in our head long before they even come due. She has done the same thing here, thinking that Slughorn’s party will be the place that she and Ron grow closer together, maybe even kiss under some mistletoe. She thinks that it will be the perfect place to launch a new beginning. That’s why what happens right after this scene with Lavender makes her so sad, because she then has to say goodbye to all of those dreams and fantasies.

It looks like a lot of the Quidditch team are sitting together in a show of house solidarity.

Ron’s like, “Thanks, Luna.”

Ginny normally sits next to Hermione in these scenes, but being with Dean, enables her to share the seat next to Harry. It probably is good for strategy talks as well. That Ginny Weasley knows whats up.

Are we thinking that Lavender is Ron’s first kiss? I mean, first kisses are heady things, and he wouldn’t want to give it up no matter what until those endorphins start to fade, and then he quickly gets over it.

This is a great filing system in the library. And another subtle but amazing display of magic.

Hermione, girl, its hard when you get our feelings involved. Boys make us all do stupid things.

This is the most awkward thing I have ever witnessed.

Some people are really irritated by this scene where Ginny ties Harry’s shoe, but I don’t mind it. I thought that it was very intimate. Harry, more than anything craves someone who is going to take care of him. Harry is someone who feels as if the whole world is looking to me. He also feels like he has no one that he can really lean on for support. He feels that support in any way makes him weak. Ginny doing these little things for him is something that he can accept. It makes them closer. She understands what he needs, and gives it to him. Plain and simple.

You can actually see rage here in Remus’ face. Don’t y’all tell me Wolfstar ain’t a thing.

Ginny doesn’t even think before jumping into the flames. Harry and Ginny at this point are battle tested veterans, and they have each others backs no matter what.

Greyback thinks that he is going to get an easy meal with Ginny, but Ginny isn’t a light snack hun.

This was perfectly done by the death eaters. Draw the people outside, and then strike to destroy one of the only strongholds that the Order has.

Harry unknowingly echoed Voldemort when he stayed behind after the first party.

This seems to be a very weird way to go about getting Slughorn to talk. Throughout this film, Harry tries to mimic Voldemort in the things that he said and the things that he did, but the way to get Slughorn to talk, I think, wouldn’t be to remind Slughorn about his failings through Tom, but to be the opposite of Tom Riddle, which eventually he ends up doing.

“The map is never wrong.” Like Godfather like godson.

Harry really is the dim one. He figures out Ron’s little dilemma way too slowly.

Love makes Ron cuddly. I like it.

Slughorn is a quick liar. No wonder he was in Slytherin.

Why is Slughorn just standing there? Why isn’t he reacting? Why isn’t he calling for help? I never understood his reluctance here. It makes me think that something like this must have happened in the past, and he was having some major flashbacks.

Hermione is about to throw bones in front of all these teachers.

“You daft dimbo.” Classic.

All of the teachers are listening just as intently as anyone else in the room. They love gossip too.

Harry just casually stalking Draco.

Draco feels so along during this whole experience, and I hate it for him. He’s just a kid.

“He was quickly becoming obsessed with Draco Malfoy.”

Why on Earth is Lavender, a Gyrffindor, sitting at a different table? And Dean? Free sitting on the weekends?

The look on Draco’s face when he sees Katie. He is glad sure that she is still alive, but he feels scared. He knows that Harry must have some suspicions, and he is terrified of getting found out. He knows that Voldemort will not be kind.

Draco goes from crying to defensive. Emotions are running high for him, and he just can’t handle them all. He is not thinking rationally.

The book here, almost seems to act like more of a horcrux, nefarious source then actual horcruxes do. It turns Harry into someone that he isn’t.

Ginny you coy bitch. Love it.

I just imagine that the way Harry acts in this scene is Daniel Radcliffe’s personality at all times.

Hermione should one day write a paper about the effects of Liquid Luck on people.

The story about the flower and the fish that Slughorn tells about Lily is one of the best add ons that the movie included that wasn’t present in the books.

Using that chosen one status right.

Lily was one of Slughorn’s favorites. She was in that middle picture on the shelf. She was front and center beside him in the photo.

Dumbledore is like, “Not now, I need to think.”

Dumbledore says that the objects to make a horcrux can be anything, but I disagree. I think that the objects have to be somehow linked to the wizard, some personal connection.

“I’ll be okay, I’ll be with Dumbledore.”

This is a startaling setting. One of the best ones in the films. We don’t go far from Hogwarts generally, but when we do it’s hardly to wild, nature ruled places like this.

I wish that we would have seen that memory from the Gaunt house. It would have been interesting to see Tom’s grandparent and uncle, his dad. It would have seemed essential to me to show Merope in this film. To see where Voldemort came from. I wish we would have gotten that.

And while we are listing some things I wanted from this movie, but never got: A classroom scene with Snape finally teaching DADA. We never even saw a hint of this or an illusion of this after the initial telling.

Dumbledore is hugging his knees, he is bunched up, and vulnerable.

This is the only time that inferi are seen throughout the series. You would have thought that Voldemort would have had more use for them in the final battle.

The choir scene here is particularly interesting. We have in our consciousness scenes from the previous two films using lighthearted music etc., and now they are singing this ominous song.

Snape is standing, looking out over Hogwarts like he does in seven pt. 2. This place is Snape’s home, and has been for years, and now, he unwillingly has to say goodbye to it.

It says something that Bellatrix doesn’t wear a mask while the rest of them do. It makes sense that Greyback wouldn’t wear a mask because he is recognizable as a werewolf, and he likes the fear that it inspires, but Bellatrix refuses to wear a mask because she is proud of her status as a death eater. She is unashamed of her place in the world.

If Dumbledore knows everything, why does he never act?

That boy that Dumbledore is talking about isn’t Voldemort, but Snape.

Harry has been hearing this whole movie that he is wrong about Draco and wrong about Snape, and then comes time for him to trust or turn against Snape, and he trusts him.

The look on Snape’s face after he kills Dumbledore is so haunting.

Bellatrix just loves causing chaos and mayhem. There is a certain kind of sick satisfaction that some people have when they destroy things that they used to be associated with. Her destroying Hogwarts is one of those things. For Draco, it Is just adding to that sick feeling in his gut.

All the lights from the wands of all of these people lifting into the sky and eating away the dark mark is one of the best moments of this entire series.

When I read that the locket was fake I was infuriated. I don’t think I’m alone.

Harry and his hero complex. He thinks he has to do everything on his own, but this proves that he doesn’t have to. He goes off together, with his friends, and even the friends that he leaves behind helps to keep everything going while the world waits on Harry Potter to save them all.

Least Favorite character: Um...hard to say. There weren’t any characters that made me groan whenever they popped up. Though Gray Anderson came close, so I guess I’ll go with him

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Jake/Emily, Johnston/Gail, Robert/Darcy, Stanley/Mimi and Heather/Beck

Character I find most attractive: Hard to say. Though I can see why people might find Jake and Emily attractive

Character I would marry: LOL. Well, all the ‘eligible’ men on the show seemed to be taken, don’t they? So there’s not much to chose from

Character I would be best friends with: I wanna say Heather. She was pretty cool

a random thought: I think, at one point, it was mentioned that one of the deputy’s kids was sick with something. I remember thinking if that was going to be relevant, but it was never brought up again

An unpopular opinion: I don’t think the show did a proper job at explaining why Johnston and Eric held such a negative opinion of Jake at the start of the show. I got that Jake was basically the town’s ‘bad boy’ back in the day, but... they way they acted towards him when he came back into town seemed a bit mean spirited to me

Most Badass Character: Gotta go with Robert. No offence to Jake, of course. But between the two of them, Robert is the one I’d actively avoid trying to tick off

Mad Beauty-

When I started shipping them: Hard to pinpoint the exact date. It started off when I saw a post mentioning the pairing, and I was intrigued by the concept. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I liked it. Before I knew it, I was Mad Beauty trash

My thoughts: I just think they make the most sense. All things considered, Jefferson and Belle probably suffered the most during the course of the Dark Curse that created Storybrooke. Jefferson was forced to spend nearly three decades watching his beloved daughter from afar, knowing he couldn’t approach her because she didn’t remember him. Not to mention how he was the only one in town who remembered the truth but knew he couldn’t tell anyone on account of how nobody would believe him. As for Belle, she spent all that time confined in her cell in the psychiatric ward, where her only human contact were the orderlies who brought her food and whatnot. She never received any visitors during that time and I doubt the orderlies bothered striking up a conversation with her. To top it off, if her behavior when she was forced over the town line were any indication, she probably had absolutely no memories, either real or faked, to revisit while in confinement. While the show never addressed it, I firmly believe that Belle was probably in serious need of therapy when the curse broke. Apart from that, there’s the fact that Belle was a young woman who clearly craved adventure and wanted to see the world. Jefferson, who had spent quite a few years as a portal jumper with the use of his magic hat, has most likely visited more realms in the multiverse than anyone else in the show. So he’d be perfectly suited to be Belle’s personal guide to each and every one of those realms, giving her the world tour she’d always yearned for. And then there’s Grace. I think we all can agree that Grace is Jefferson’s top priority. Can you imagine how much Jefferson would love to see Belle and Grace interact and bond? Because it’s obvious they would. Especially since they both know what it’s like to lose their mother through tragic circumstances. Plus, both Jefferson and Belle are characters with a strong association with tea. I cannot erase the mental image of all three of them sitting down to a tea party.

What makes me happy about them: That I can write about them. Writing for this paring is almost as fun as writing about Captain Swan, my top OTP

What makes me sad about them: That this particular ship is so uncommon. It’s rare to find another Mad Beauty shipper. That and the fact that it will never be canon

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Well, there are very few Mad Beauty fics out there, so I suppose the lack of them counts as an annoyance. Especially since most of the available ones seem more about Rumbelle, based on the fic summaries

Things I look for in fanfic: For it to actually exist (lol)

My wishlist: Don’t think I have one

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Not sure with Jefferson, since we hardly saw him interacting with anyone in canon, but Belle is my multi-ship. I’d be happy to see her with anyone who deserves her, really (Including Gold, as long as he actually got his act together first and quit being such a manipulative a-hole)

My happily ever after for them: Ah, but that would be a major spoiler for the fifth and final installment of my canon divergence series, wouldn’t it?

Thor-

How I feel about this character: Overall, I like him. While I wouldn’t say he’s my favorite character, I’ve always enjoyed his presence. He just strikes me as someone who’d be a lot of fun to be around

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Jane Foster. And maybe Lady Sif as a ‘we dated as kids/teenagers but then broke up amicably’ kind of deal

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Loki and/or Valkyrie

My unpopular opinion about this character: His intelligence seemed to be a bit inconsistent at times. (Really, he knows about emails, but doesn’t know you need a computer to access them?) It’s a bit frustrating, because he is clearly an intelligent man

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: That he hadn’t broken up with Jane. Whose bright idea was that?

Favorite friendship for this character: It’s a toss-up between Steve and Darcy Lewis

My crossover ship: Does paring him with Ororo Munro/Storm count as a crossover? I mean, they’ve both technically Marvel characters, but so far, the X-Men aren’t a thing in the MCU

(Spideypool) My first MCU ship :') I saw the one Spideypool drawing Hannah Blumenreich ever drew for them and the size difference had me wrecked. I started looking up fics, and I remember having so much fun with their dynamic.

What’s your favourite fanfiction for 4? (Parksborn) Ahh off the dome there used to be one up called "Asunder" by Pansley that wasn't Parksborn-centric, but it got me hooked on the darker themes of this ship.

What’s your favourite fan art/picture for 2? (Starker) this masterpiece by reincao -- IT'S SO SEXY!!! What's the story?!? Who's shooting at them?!? Why is Tony smirking?!? Why is it so sexy?!??

What’s your favourite headcanon for 1? (Winterspider) I'm deeply in love with a scene where Bucky's riding his bike with Peter behind him, winding down a lonely road and into the setting sun. Peter's arms tight around Bucky's waist, his face pillowed on Bucky's shoulders and almost nodding off, the rumble of the bike keeping him alert enough to hold on, his fingers curled sleepily in the folds of Bucky's leather jacket that smells so much like home. Just. Lots of bike rides 🤗

What do you like most about the dynamic between the people of 7? (Spiderio) LOL IDK YET but probably the blind trust and manipulation I hope we're gonna get?? 😱

When 9 have sex is it more giggly or more serious? (Spidershield) Oooh prooobably more giggly? I think they wouldn't take each other too seriously and they'd both quickly realize they're just two naked dorks having fun.

Out of all the ships who do you think have the best chemistry? Spideypooooool they literally have children together, I just can't handle Peter's straight man attitude towards Pool sometimes when we KNOW how good they can be together

Which ship has the strongest bond? Parksborn - Peter and Harry have so much history, I can't disengage the two in my mind. I think even if they ended up with different people, they would always still hold some deep, irreplaceable love for one another their entire lives.

Which ship to you spend the most time reading fanfiction for/talking/writing about? Tied between Starker and Winterspider - Starker has a much larger community and as much as I adore Winterspider, Peter and Bucky have interacted for like 0.4 seconds 😂 (even if they held hands during that time)

Which one was your first ship? Parksborn - I watched a bunch of the various Spider-Man cartoons and every one was ripe for Parksborn shipping.

If 6 were to break up, how would it happen? (Spideypool) Oof, Wade devaluing himself and pushing Peter away - oooor Peter just dies one day and Wade... can't.

Between 3 and 8, who would last the longest if they were in a zombie apocalypse? (Winteriron vs Spideydevil) Winteriron no contest. Like it'd be laughable how easily Tony could manage some survival/defense gear, while Bucky with his super assassin skills would keep them safe. Peter and Matt would fucking get into a dumb argument about whether canned beans are safe to eat and attract the zombies to their location. It doesn’t help that both Matt and Peter’s fighting tactics are to literally yeet themselves at the enemy

Does 7 hide their relationship, and if so, why? (Spiderio) Yes I THINK, because Peter's teammates wouldn't trust Mysterio at all and he'd keep it on the downlow to avoid their disapproval.

What is 9′s favourite date to go on? (Spidershield) drive in movie theaters! They like sitting on the hood of an old car and leaning into one another, and as evening grows cold they cuddle and get distracted with soft kisses.

What’s your favourite canon moment between 1? (Winterspider) I love arm

What do 5 argue most about? (Spideychelle) Dumb shit. Why the Sorting Hat is a whack method of division, or how come no one remembers R2-D2 in New Hope. Anything important, they agree in or can at least come to a mutual respect and understanding.

If you had to pick an OTP which would you chose? Winterspider babey

What’s the biggest kink that 1 shares? (Winterspider) Power and aggression. Bucky spends so much of his conscious energy holding himself back, terrified of himself, it feels good to let go and be a little violent and rough. Peter adores getting fucked within an inch of his life, loves that someone can give it as good as he gets.

Do 8 want children? (Spideydevil) I don't think so - they would probably end up with a few accidentally adopted wards along the way though

Between 10 and 4, which would you rather became canon? (Parksborn, Winterironspider) Parksborn just because IRL I wouldn't want Peter to end up in a relationship with Tony, I'm exhausted enough by antis on this hellsite I couldn't take it in the meat world as well.

Does 2 do much PDA? And does it annoy their friends? (Starker) Not actual PDA like hand holding, but they'll do like kissing and grinding to be nasty when being watched is part of the thrill. In their day-to-day, they’ll do little things like brush fingers over the back of the neck, exchange looks, little things that aren’t technically PDA, but to them, their own unspoken language.

Which of the ships would you say is the most romantic with each other? Spideychelle, you can't tell me Michelle isn't the smoothest motherfucker this side of the equator

How would the proposal between 5 go? (Spideychelle) MJ always jokes about doing something super low-key and awkward just because she knows how much of a sap Peter really is - she has Peter truly convinced she's gonna use a ring pop and do it while they're like grocery shopping. Instead, she waits for the perfect moment where they're watching fireworks on the harbor and gets down on one knee. Peter immediately bursts into tears.

Who cooks more often in 3? (Winteriron) Bucky I think, I imagine he gets antsy and throws himself into random hobbies - he picks up knitting and gardening and cooking, and since Tony’s dogshit in the kitchen (see: 3 hrs for burnt omelette), he usually ends up kicking Tony out whenever he tries to make anything. Plus, he likes the way Tony’s face gets all dopey when he makes him a homecooked meal, and it’s one of the only ways anyone can get Tony to take a break from the lab to eat something solid.

Whaaaaat why would I ever wanna talk about these two weirdos....pfft...

when I started shipping it if I did: Uh, pretty much right around this time last year! Omg its almost been a year...so weird!

my thoughts: I hate them. OMG JUST KIDDING I love em! They’re funny and sweet and quirky and strange and just everything I need from an OTP. They really care about each other, think about each other when they’re not recording together, and make sure to always add little moments in their videos that only emphasize the bond they have. I mean I wrote a whole analysis on them explaining my thoughts so...

What makes me happy about them: Their energy! That Vanoss and Del don’t worry about being things they’re not when they play together. Vanoss is the most engaged and excited when he’s taping with Del, and its nice to see how Delirious will always check in with Vanoss throughout videos. So cute

What makes me sad about them: That people will bug them in their real lives. Like...why? Ugh.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: When people make Vanoss domineering to Del. Or just make their relationship really abusive. If anything, these two are always been supportive and softer with each other.

things I look for in fanfic: In-character personalities, conversations that have real topics with some humor thrown in, romantic relationships built on little quirks between the two of them, awkwardness!

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Yikes this one is just...this is a weird one. Uh, I guess um....if I was being held hostage and told they’d die if I didn’t pick people for them, then I guess I’d put Evan with Brock and Delirious with....omg I really don’t know. I see him and Toonz like brothers so that feels like incest. Maybe...Ohm? Blah this one is leaving a bitter taste in my house haha.

My happily ever after for them: That they’re both happy, of course!

who is the big spoon/little spoon: Del is the big spoon most nights, but it’s more that Vanoss doesnt bother struggling with him. The only times Vanoss takes over is when Del has a rough day or just needs to feel secure...and its normally done without wards. Vanoss just knows.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Haunted houses! I think Vanoss would start off scared and Del would be like ‘I’ll protect you’ but its pretty obvious to everyone by the end of it Vanoss is the one holding Del’s hand and shooing the workers of the house away so Del can get out of it without crying. Also, I think making weird desserts they find on pintrest and trying to cook/bake/make them!

the first character i ever fell in love with: Skye. Or Ward. I can’t really remember which came first. Probably Skye because she was so relatable and quirky and positive but I also loved grumpy pretending-not-to-care SO Ward.

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: Skye… or Daisy I guess. I started losing interest around halfway through S2 with the whole Afterlife plot (and then just stopped watching the show altogether after the S2 finale lol) but S3 was the one that really left a bad taste in my mouth. And the start of S4 with emo vigilante Daisy. I don’t dislike her, but it’s a far cry from the love I had for her in the early days. Same with Jemma, actually. I really liked her in S1, this cute, quirky if slightly awkward scientist willing to bend the rules when she believes it’s the right thing to do. Afterwards things got… complicated. I like her more on her own, outside of FS scenes (which, when does that ever happen?) Can she/they ever have a storyline that doesn’t involve saving the other one? For science? No?

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: Hmm… I don’t think I have one? Once I decide I like something, I fall for it pretty hard. lol. I guess Daisy/Lincoln. That’s a funny one, because when they sort of started flirting in S2 I liked the idea of them together, and I thought they had a lot of potential. But once it actually happened I wasn’t into it at all. It felt kinda rushed and I just didn’t really see any chemistry between them. It was an ‘expectations vs. reality’ sort of thing for me.

my ultimate favorite character™: Oh gosh… Fitz, I guess? I mean, obviously I’m trash for Ophelia but I actually wasn’t all that fond of the whole Aida arc at the beginning… I liked her more in the Framework, and all the potential she had as a human (or Inhuman, whatever.) It’s funny because he sort of grew on me. I admittedly didn’t pay much attention to him in S1 because I was so wrapped up in Skyeward, but once they killed that storyline and started developing his character from the nerdy sidekick/comic relief to an actual, fleshed-out character dealing with brain damage, then yes I became involved. Still mourned the untimely demise of Skyeward in S2 though.

prettiest character: Fitz or Ward if it’s more ‘handsome’ pretty. Out of the ladies… Daisy, I suppose? Also Stephanie Malick because personal bias - yes I’ve loved Bethany Joy Lenz since One Tree Hill and they totally should’ve let her stick around for longer than two episodes god damn it.

my most hated character: I’m not particularly fond of Jemma. Or what they’ve done with her, I suppose. But god damn it if there’s one character I hate it’s Ruby. Really glad that arc is over.

my OTP: This one’s pretty obvious. Skye/Ward and Fitz/Ophelia. Hehe.

my NOTP: Fitzsimmons sorry not sorry.

favorite episode: (In no particular order): 5.14, 4.16 and 1.17. Self Control and, frankly, all the Framework episodes, are strong contenders, but that’s my podium.

saddest death: I’ve got to say Fitz. Mostly because it was so sudden and I honestly wasn’t expecting it at all. I genuinely didn’t think they’d have the balls to kill off one half of FS, especially on-screen. I was literally expecting him to miraculously pull through and just have his legs amputated or something. It felt so surreal. Of course, then they brought CryoFitz back into play so really it was all just one big cop-out (figures) but the shock factor was definitely there. It was just the right amount of sad and downright distressing and even unsettling, with the way he didn’t fully comprehend what was happening and just…slipped away. I also really liked how they didn’t cheapen the moment by making it all about FS, which was… honestly such a nice surprise? I preferred the shocked and unaware approach they took, and how he spent his last moments with… kind of the two most unlikely people - May whom he hasn’t ever really bonded with, a relationship which is made especially awkward by their experience in the Framework and the ‘super villain interrogation’ in 5.15; and Mack, who literally told him days or even hours earlier that he needs ‘fixing.’ It was all very weird and bizarre and surprising, and definitely felt like a solid punch to the gut. At least, until they straight up announced they’re going to essentially retcon it… Eh. Also, Ophelia? Maybe less sad and more just downright disturbing and gratuitously violent and graphic.

favorite season: If Season 1 and 4.16-20 and 5.14 could somehow be merged into one season… that would be it. lol. Overall, I have to say S1. Most people hate it and call it the weakest season and, sure, it felt very formulaic and had this predictable ‘monster of the week’ format at first but it was genuinely enjoyable to watch. Every other season after that I just found myself getting angry at something. lol. I actually liked pretty much every character in S1 to some degree and because nothing was set in stone or made explicitly canon yet, there was a lot more freedom shipping-wise. There was no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ ship, or ‘no you can’t like this character because of X, Y, Z’ it was just whatever you were into. For a while it seemed like pretty much all combinations of the Bus Kids ships had a decent chance of sailing. That’s a pretty damn good feeling.

least favorite season: Hands down Season 5. I wasn’t a fan of Season 3 either (though admittedly I did like certain episodes/aspects of it) and Season 2 could’ve done without that whole ‘Real SHIELD’ plot but Season 5 takes the cake. I mean… seriously. It was a let down, especially after the hugely successful Framework arc (the show’s strongest point so far imo.) So naturally there was a lot of expectation and it kind of fell flat. They had maybe 2 or 3 strong episodes. The rest was riddled with plot holes, blatant fan service, lines that sounded like they pulled straight from fanfic, radical and often inexplicable shifts in character behaviour from one episode to the next that could be classified as borderline character assassination, frequent lack of continuity, too much time spent on characters that ultimately turned out to be irrelevant/got quickly killed off, writers seemingly forgetting what had happened in literally the previous episode, etc. There’s really no excuse for that mess. lol. Not to mention the at times pretty obvious budget cuts and the lack of decent lighting which made the space pod downright unwatchable at times. Really feels like the weakest, most disjointed and confused season of all. Which is a shame. Because it could’ve been great. But it just really… wasn’t.

character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: I don’t want to say Jemma but… Jemma? I guess part of the problem is that I feel there tends to be a discrepancy between the actual canonic on-screen representation of Jemma and fanon Jemma, at least in my experience. She (and Daisy) seem to get put on this imaginary pedestal a lot of the time and given leeway and all these concessions that other characters aren’t allowed. Sometimes I think I hate fandom’s approach to and treatment of certain characters more than I hate the actual character. Also, Mack and Bobbi? I feel like they’re pretty massive fandom faves as well and I never really got invested in them. I don’t hate them, they’re just… Meh.

my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: Leopold, the ultimate trash fave. Hehe. He’s just so deliciously messed up and complex and it’s so much fun to explore all of that. He’s like the one villain AOS completely unintentionally got right. Magnetic, charismatic, complicated. Sure, he only ever really shows up in about five episodes but in those five or six episodes they build a really solid character. We’re not told or shown everything, but that’s the point. Sometimes the implication is enough - and it’s super fun to fill in those gaps. And those suits. I mean, c’mon. lol

my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: Literally no one on this show is a cinnamon roll anymore. lol. I think Ophelia easily could’ve had a really satisfying redemption arc if the writers were actually willing to get into that instead of just shelving their more complex characters and turning to the safe option of ‘let’s kill the baddie.’ Ward could’ve possibly been redeemed too (up to a certain point at least) but I guess part of his appeal is that he didn’t want to be? Uh… and out of the still alive ones (kind of??), Fitz. He’s had a really tough time literally since S2. I also liked Mace and Radcliffe and I kind of wish they got to stick around for a bit longer.

my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: Fitz/Ophelia. Obviously. I guess one of the more weirder ones is Hive/Stephanie. That’s… not remotely canon (I mean, I guess they kissed? lol) but in my headcanon Framework verse it is. Let’s be honest, there’s probably tons more because I always latch on to the more obscure stuff, but I can’t really think of anything else at the moment.

my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: Philinda and Mackelena. I don’t ship either but I guess I can kind of see the appeal and I wish them all the best for the sake of the shippers because both of these pairings are frequently overshadowed by… well, the main ship. I can totally understand and sympathize with their frustration.

needle and thread headcanons/commentary

Thanks to that fic rec request I got the other day, I somehow stumbled on needle and thread again. It’s been ten months since I finished it and I haven’t been able to look at it since but for some reason I started rereading it and now here, for you my lovely followers, are some headcanons/thoughts I jotted down while going through it all. Sp0ilers, obviously.

Jemma’s been in Hydra’s custody for the better part of a day when the story opens, Grant just has no idea because he’s been too wrapped up in the Skye drama

she’s also right there when Kara’s asking Grant for guidance. She misses some of the conversation in her efforts to escape but really that’s only MORE reason Grant should notice her. He is very out of it

in an early version of the fic they did make it to Grant’s safe house straightaway and this scene/line - “Must you always be so big?” - happened in the backseat of a car on the way there. (I changed it though because that was a dead end with them just at the safe house and bored for pages and pages while Grant healed and Kara tried to be a person again)

Grant not liking music when he’s sick is my own quirk that I forced onto him

(I’m also reading your comments as I go and wow you guys were mad when he left Jemma with Martinez XD)

at first Martinez has every intention of being nice to Jemma; he owns her, after all, no reason to be a jerk about it. But then she is just so uncooperative and he switches quickly to trying to scare her into behaving. And that’s when she scars him for life

Grant has a habit of keeping his gun in the back of his jeans in this fic and that is entirely @shineyma‘s fault. She said something about it being attractive around the time I started writing it and it stuck with me

Derrick and Jen are named after a doomed otp of mine from another show. I figured they should be happy somewhere in the multiverse

the scene where Kara impersonates Jemma in Grant’s motel room was one of the earliest ones to form in my head and I spent a good portion of my time writing those first eight chapters just pushing myself to get there already

Trip is alive, as you can probably guess, because Jemma was captured by Hydra back before chapter one. Instead of running off into the city, he was trying to find and rescue her, so he never got near the obelisk

also he may be on his own for the search but it’s 100% Coulson sanctioned, much like Hunter’s s3 hunt for Grant/revenge was

Jemma has two big reasons for deciding to leave:

first, she’s falling for Grant and that is just not okay, especially since she’s his prisoner

but the real trigger is her arm. She knows how long an injury like that should take to heal and the fact that it has and she hasn’t tried to escape, hasn’t even thought about escape, in so long is just not okay

you might’ve noticed Grant starts calling her “Jemma” in the narration after that make-out session with Kara got him to say it out loud but he still calls her “Simmons” out loud. He switches back to just “Simmons” while dropping her off at the train station, once his last hopes she might not really leave are dashed. And then he hears her voice over the phone when she calls for help, calls her “Jemma” and never goes back

um, rereading it I’m not as sure as I originally was that it comes through that they do NOT have sex in the cabin. I really wanted them to just be soft and cuddly and happy to be safe and together without needing to have sex

but they definitely have sex the next night in the motel after their fight about Bakshi

the scene where the team shows up and finds out Jemma and Grant are together was the first scene I thought up and it went through a few adjustments as time went on but the basics stayed the same: Jemma being taken by surprise by their arrival, Grant kissing her to be an ass, everyone seeing it either in person or via the implants, very important things

Coulson and Jemma’s talk in the car is pretty exclusively about how she’s been treated/what she’s been through. It’s long and rough and most of it is, naturally, about Grant

it’s then that Coulson tells her about the plans to TAHITI Grant, so a good portion of her closed-off attitude following the reunion is because she knows the team expects her to hate Grant, to be happy to be back with them and free of him, and she can’t let them stop her warning him what’s going to be done to him

that’s also when Coulson realizes that Jemma’s for real in love with Grant and wow does he hate that so much

and he starts to second guess his conviction that Grant needs to be freed from his past (via said TAHITIing) in order to really make use of a second chance (he put himself in danger to save Jemma MULTIPLE TIMES and then LET HER GO when she asked). But he’s also afraid that Grant’s just being his manipulative self (the kiss does not help him here) and also it’s not like Coulson can go back to Gonzales and say, “here is my trash Hydra son, welcomed back into the family with no consequences for what he’s done.” He wants Grant to be better, he does, but he also knows his own life would be so much easier if Grant was holding Jemma against her will this entire time

when Kara yells at Mike on the quinjet she’s trying to be nice to him because she likes him and has decided, in typical post-brainwashed, I-am-in-charge-of-my-own-life fashion, that she wants him. (These two were another of my early phase plans. That scene in canon where he asks if she’s got another photostatic veil lying around? They have SO MUCH IN COMMON, they could’ve bonded over traumas and survival and ugh why)

Bakshi turning on Jemma isn’t 100% Grant’s fault. The threat he tries to warn him about that prompts Grant to order him to “take care of Jemma” actually is Jemma. Her efforts to make him into his own person again have allowed him to remember that she was a traitor. So it’s really both Grant and Jemma causing this mess. (Seriously, every time you guys awwwww’d over her trying to help Bakshi, I was like “awk-ward”)

another one of those long-term plans I had was for whoever let them go at the end to do so because they saw Grant protect Jemma from Bakshi. I just didn’t know who it was gonna be until ... actually I don’t think I knew until I was writing the chapter. I’d considered a few people (Mike and Skye and even Fitz) but it really had to be Trip

And now, for those of you who stuck around to the bitter end, here is the true story of how this fic began its life:

I have long wanted a fic where Jemma was on board the Bus when Grant came for Raina and Skye in mid-s2. Specifically, one where he is then forced to take Jemma hostage as well because Whitehall’s put out a standing order to capture her on sight. So I started writing that. There was some triangle-ing with Trip wanting to protect her/promising to come for her. Most importantly though, the file on my hard drive is called “beard” because the entire reason Grant notices Jemma there is that she says “oh thank god” when she sees that he’s clean-shaven, as she was very shamefully attracted to his Vault D beard. (In fact the first third or so of this fic is in a file called “beard - no beard” still. Because I am ridiculous.) And then the idea of Jemma being captured by Hydra in San Juan morphed into needle and thread and I think we’re all happier for that divergence.
