my thoughts on Saga Anderson and the lack of spotlight on her in fanworks
Hmmm…this has been bothering me since I waded into the fandom after AW2 dropped. WHY DOES 99.9% OF THE FANDOM SLEEP ON SAGA WHILE IT'S HALF HER GAME???
I DON'T understand the fixation on Casey (even though I adore him and he's the other half of my OTP), or Zane to the point that when Saga is in ensemble art, she's relegated to being the "bro". And for what purpose? She has just as much build up and storyline as Alan himself. She certainly has more screen time than FBI Casey. I see posts going "oh, I love Saga so much, she was so badass" and then almost nothing when it comes to fan work.
Do y'all understand, how, as a black woman, this frustrates me to NO end? I go to her tag on AO3, see new fics, get excited...just to see she's the bro or footnote to CaseyWake. I've literally been brought to TEARS over this. Saga was written with SO much love and care, and it's so obvious. She was not the stereotypical sassy, angry, loud black woman that we tend to get when we're even thought of at all.
And it's genuinely PAINFUL to see all of the love, all of that care, ALL OF THAT RESPECT, IGNORED by fandom because you want to focus on the white men. Because why? I get it, het is so icky for most of you, fine. But to not even give her fanart/fics just on her and her daughter? It's terribly egregious.
Saga Anderson is genuinely a role model. She's smart, warm, funny, dedicated, sympathetic and passionate. She will change REALITY just to save the ones she loves. She's NEVER had to deal with anything like the Bright Falls situation and she came through it with such GRACE. She saved the fucking day. She did what Alan couldn't do in THIRTEEN YEARS. And she gets no recognizance in fanworks?
And I know the majority of this fandom happens to be made up of women, at least for fanworks. You truly mean to tell me you can't, at all, even a little bit, relate to this woman? You can't make her the focus, instead of a background character? The white men are easier to understand and draw/write for?
I can't tell anyone who to like, or who to ship, nor would I ever try to, because on the internet, it seems like het is icky despite how amazing the woman is. But I've seen comments towards andercase fanart going "Saga, no, you're married!" But shipping CaseyWake in the same breath, despite Alan being married and getting back to his wife being the main motivation for Alan to do anything at all.
It comes off as hypocritical, it comes off a wee bit "I don't know what to do with this black woman...hmm, let's just make her root for CaseyWake" I'm left feeling that Sam and the team love Saga more than the fans ever do or will. And that fucking sucks. Because to put so much thought into a character and love the character, just to be ignored?
That hurts, really really badly. I genuinely enjoyed feeling like I was represented. I loved having a character I could relate to, one I could understand. But it feels like I'm in the minority. When she tells Alan he's not alone in this, this is THEIR story...well, that was the truth for me, and I wish others felt the same way.
I genuinely adore the works Saga has gotten that focus on her, and I see so much love and care put into them. It just somehow feels like fandom made this game into CaseyWake 24/7 and it's icky.

I'm so happy you loved it! 💚💕🥰 I can't explain to you just how much this fic just took hold of me and kept going and going, and the different routes kept changing too. I really love how it turned out 🥰
I especially loved incorporating little things YN learned along in her adventures, such as lock picking and self defense. Dawny caring for YN was planned from the get go, but Baul appearing later on came about later. Which I love because I like to mess with him too.
"You said you would be in my future." and "You better keep that promise." lines is what drove this fic. It's what I knew I wanted to add and have it center around with YN and Lilia. Another fun fact: "I will be" and "I will." are purposely written that way, but Lilia doesn't realize exactly what that means yet and ahhhh, I just adore the little intricacies.
Meleanor being the older sibling she is and just making fun of him is hilarious. She knew he would be fine and would come back eventually. He is too stubborn to die. Lilia is trying his best not to smack talk back, he still has wounds that are almost healed after all.
I love how Levan is in the fan club. He's the one out here supporting his OTP and wants to know the whole tea, especially seeing how Lilia is obviously infatuated with this girl.
Levan was already interested in YN because of the fact that Lilia was interested in her and she 'proposed' to him like his wife did. But what really got his interest was the fact that Lilia sounded jealous.
Lilia, the wild cat, this overly arrogant fellow General. He's jealous and he's jealous of another human nonetheless. Oh, how interesting this all is.
(I can imagine Levan internally laughing his head off when he realizes the competitor for YN is the Knight of Dawn. Also, I can see Levan now think of ways this Human Vs Fae war can be stopped, so Lilia can pursue his love life 🥹😂)

A random thought: The moment where Mithrun cries because "even vegetable scraps have their uses" made me feel like I'd been revived from the dead. dunmeshi is so good.

My canon OTP: canonically no one like. "ends up together" in the super official sense and I'm happy with that! however farcille can count...i think anyways. it's not even coding it's plain as day

Most badass character: Senshi, because truly what is more badass than caring for the dungeon ecosystem and your friends' health and wellbeing by cooking them a balanced diet out of monsters. all with a single cooking pot too
Pairing I am not a fan of: Izutsumi x anyone. that girl doesn't want a romantic interest nor does she need one <3
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): ...no one? I'm gonna finish my reread soon but I highly doubt I'll find one that I'll think was screwed up
Favourite friendship: The whole party warmed my heart. that hug healed me. ALSO honorary mention to Mithrun and Kabru because again the feeling of being restored and learning to feel again is so real. honorary honorary mention to Izutsumi and the rest of the party because that is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life

my thoughts: they invented sapphism actually
What makes me happy about them: I love how Haori does not fucking hesitate to keep flirting with Ryutaro upon finding out that he is in fact Susato. what a queen
What makes me sad about them: the fact that their reunion in-game occurs when Susato is coming back, rushed, on what she assumes to be a family tragedy; and what she finds instead is Haori having been through a horrifically traumatizing event in her absence. both of these girls trying their best to study and have careers in Meiji Japan. the world makes it so fucking difficult for them.
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: it's not so much a specific thing done in fanfic as like, an overarching trend that people tend to fluffify them a ton. i get it they're cute and lighthearted but they're also sixteen-year-olds in a world that is unfair to them. that being said, i also don't like the idea of making them 'tragic' for the drama of it all. let them be happy, but also give them depth basically!
Things I look for in fanfic: i don't read a ton of dgs fic these days but i look for good Haori background and characterization
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Gina, Maria...and that applies to either of them lol
My happily ever after for them: marriage marriage fraud (I can't take credit for this idea, since I first heard it from Seven ofc! but it's so real to me)

Sorry Anon but Tumblr ate your ask lol. I'll have you know I literally just finished TOH. Like five minutes ago it ended. Let's do this.
Favourite character: EDA EDA I LOVE EDA SO MUCH. Okay in all fairness I also adore Lilith, Alador, Camilla, and Raine, but Eda was my favourite since episode one. I adore her laid-back wine aunt-esque personality and how she genuinely has so much love and care in her heart. I love how her curse is treated and works really well as a disability metaphor. I found myself relating to her a lot with her struggles with being put into boxes and a want to just run free regardless of what others want from her. She's such a fun and great character. I adore her.
Least Favourite: Amity's mom. Bitch
Top ships: Oughhh I love Eda/Raine!! Also Lumity of course. I don't have too big of a shipper's heart for this show shockingly enough. Like I enjoy the two canon ships and pretty much that.
Most attractive character: Eda next question (also Darius)
Character I'd marry: Raine or Lilith for the tax benefits <3
Character I'd be besties with: Willow (and also Gus)
Random thought: Tbh I never sensed any tension between Alador and his bitch wife, which makes me think there was literally nothing there at all. Alador does love his kids though. He's aroace in my heart idc what shippers say I know more than them
Unpopular opinion: I don't know?? Uh... I wish Gus was focused a lot more on. He generally felt shafted and some episodes that felt like they should've been about expanding his character were overshadowed by being shared with other characters. Also his design barely shifted at all while the other characters constantly got changes and glow-ups. I did like his epilogue design a lot though. Give that boy a black hairstyle yeah
Canon OTP: Raine/Eda no questions asked
Non-Canon OTP: Uh...I dunno. I like Gus/Willow I guess? Like I said, I didn't concern myself with too many non-canon pairings this time around

How I feel about this character: I love her! I love that she's powerful and strong in her own way, not in the way that many Badass Women (tm) are just a normal male hero that they gender swapped with no thought. She's also a really interesting character as a member of the nobility in a book series that is largely anti-nobility. She's clearly neurodivergent with her dragon special interest ("And there were requests for donations, and talks, and things that added up to a heart big enough for the whole world, or at least that part of it that had wings and breathed fire."), and has some social difficulties that she manages with scripts (think: writing all those letters to Serafine while getting none back because it's What You Do with Old School Friends) but she's not incompetent in those matters. She seems to be pretty respected in society and she is able to negotiate favorable trade deals with the Low King. She is a soft power in the political sense, but also in the way that she is powerful in the story because of her softness. And of course, it's so nice to read about a woman who is the main character's love interest and is unapologetically fat, does not have a character arc revolving around losing weight, and in fact stays fat and is not made fun of it.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Just Sam! I don't think she would have married anyone else if not for the events of Guards! Guards! I went looking for this quote because it's one of the reasons I relate to/love her: "It was clearly the room of a woman, but one who had cheerfully and without any silly moping been getting on with her life while all that soppy romance stuff had been happening to other people somewhere else, and been jolly grateful that she had her health." Absolutely iconic.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: We don't have many of them but all the interactions we get between Nobby and Sybil are so funny and so good! They're both very earnest people (in their own ways) and I imagine them having afternoon tea especially when Nobby finds out he's well, nobby.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Hard to say! I think I generally am pretty aligned with the fandom on here. I guess I'll go with that I've seen some criticism of Pterry's treatment of fatness in his books (especially with Agnes' self-criticism, villains like Cosmo) and while I do think there is some merit to that, the way he writes Sybil and Nanny in particular is such a breath of fresh air to me. There are some "jokes" related to her weight (the classic "her bosom rose and fell like an empire") but I think for the most part they are not mean spirited and there are just as many similar jokes for other body types that it doesn't bother me. However being fat and engaging with media truly sucks sometimes so I would never tell another fat person they don't deserve to feel some type of way about the treatment of a fat character.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I would have liked to see more of her as a mom. Even once young Sam is born, I still think most of how we see her is as a wife, not as a mom. It's not totally absent, but I think it would have been cute to see more!
My OTP: Sam/Sybil!
My OT3: I'm not a huge shipper in this fandom, but I will say that the only V/V content I've enjoyed has been with Sybil as a throuple so I'll go with that!

i’ve never watched any of it myself ^^; but i see all your rbs and idk i’m a bit curious lol
Thank you for following my Doctor Who reblogs :’D I’m not THAT deep into the lore of DW and I’ve only watched as far back as the Ninth Doctor, so I don’t get every reference but I still enjoy the show for the entertainment value.
Favorite character: It’s a tie between the Ninth Doctor (played by Christopher Eccleston) and recently the Fifteenth Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa)
Least Favorite character: I can’t remember if there’s a character I outright LOATHE… but from what I remember, I always found the The Trickster to be a great, cruel villain. While I’m not sure if he appears in the main series of Doctor Who, he appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures spinoff. The Trickster’s whole deal was… making deals with desperate people. Such as switching the fates of a young Sarah Jane and her deceased best friend. Or making a deal with a dead man to marry a brainwashed Sarah Jane. I felt very sorry for the people he tricked. So, great villain but I didn’t like him!

Uh… Captain Jack Harkness/Ninth Doctor, Amy/Rory, The Lizard Lady/Her Female Companion (I’m sorry, I forgot their names), Martha/William Shakespeare (because Martha deserves to be immortalised in Shakespeare’s plays), Donna/Shaun

Character I would marry: Shaun. His wife and daughter show up with aliens at their house and he just accepts it. Doesn’t even blink. Donna’s best friend the Doctor has come back as a new reincarnation and is now living at their house? Shaun just accepts it.

A random thought: Will David Tennant return to the series again?
An unpopular opinion: As much as I adore David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor is kind of a jerk and his storylines got far too serious and grandiose
My canon OTP: Uh… Clara/Danny. Their story made me emotional… Also, I haven’t watched all of the Thirteenth Doctor’s run but Thirteen/Yasmin looks cute. I hope they became canon? We invented a whole other Tenth Doctor clone so that Rose/Ten could be a thing in some form. SURELY Yasmin gets her own Thirteenth Doctor clone?
Non-canon OTP: Rose/Martha. Why pine over the Doctor when they can date each other
Most badass character: Martha. This quote still lives in my head rent free: “I travelled across the world. Why I don’t: I do not have an answer for this. I literally cannot think of a single reason not to like her!
Favorite episode (scene if movie): Ugh, it's impossible to pick just one! Either Mirror Image or False Flag.
Favorite season/movie: 13. It's a great season for her, and a great season for Temily.
Favorite line: When she refers to herself as "the woman behind the woman (Emily)." I take this as proof that Temily is canon.

Favorite line: I have many, but "I've got a Glock leveled at your crotch" certainly stands out!

Head Canon: Her parents divorced when she was in college, and even though she's not close with either of her parents, she has more of a relationship with her mother than with her father.
Unpopular opinion: Almost nobody in this fandom understands her or interprets her correctly. She is NOT a bumbling incompetent. She is NOT chaos personified. She is NOT comic relief. She would also never talk like a Gen Z TikToker. She's a middle-aged federal employee who excels at her job and has close, caring, mature relationships with the people she works with.
A wish: I wish people would stop butchering her character. This includes wishing they would stop shipping her with men.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Hotchniss. Really any het Emily ship, but especially that one. It's an abomination.

Why I don’t: I don't really like the direction her character took in later seasons, when she came back as a profiler. I love media liaison JJ, and I love Evolution JJ, but in seasons 7-15, she just doesn't do it for me like other CM women do.
Favorite episode (scene if movie): Hmmm probably North Mammon?
Favorite season/movie: 5 was a good look for her! I liked the bangs.
Favorite line: "It's not people, it's men."
Favorite outfit: Her Evolution crop top and leggings combo 🥵
OTP: I honestly don't know that I have one? I love Jemily and Jara, but I think Temily is endgame.
Brotp: JJ and Morgan!
Head Canon: If Henry had been a girl, JJ would have named her Rose, after Rosaline.
Unpopular opinion: Reid stans are way too hard on JJ, to the point of being misogynistic about their dislike of her character.

Count Raymond III of Tripoli aka Tiberias for the ask meme (yes this is an excuse for you to talk about your fav ^^)
All right, anon - here's the tea on my old boy:
favourite thing: that he's both weirdly caring and simultaneously tries his hardest not to show how much he cares. He is grumpy but kind and I am so here for that. Also his sassy eyebrows.
least favourite thing: that he can - often at the most inopportune of times - be very self-serving. He protects the people he loves like a herding dog, but doesn't give much of damn about anyone else. As soon as he does no longer have any personal interest in an endeavour, he's out.
favourite line: "At first, I thought we were fighting for God. Then I realised we were fighting for wealth and land. I was ashamed." A somewhat anachronistic sentiment, but it sums up his disillusionment pretty well. Poor thing needs a holiday - and a hug.
BrOTP: Godfrey, obviously. I wish they'd had a scene together in KoH.
OTP: Not sure. I ship historical Raymond pretty hard with his badass wife, I could see myself shipping Tiberias from the movie with a variety of characters including Godfrey and Balian, and in my AU fic I ship a blend of historical and movie-verse Tiberias with my OC Isolt because grumpy bitches in love are my soft spot, I suppose. So yeah, it depends.
NOTP: Raymond x Baldwin (in a historical sense). In theory I'd be all over this because they have such a great dynamic and I love them both, but the incest aspect is a bit iffy to me. However, if it's strictly movie-verse and not a word is breathed about them being cousins, I'm totally fine with it.
random headcanon: This man is a bisexual disaster and you cannot change my mind.
unpopular opinion: To me, Raymond is the most fascinating character from the movie / historical figure from that particular time period (at least on the side of the Franks) and, as far as this fandom goes, that's the hill I will die on. In a lonely manner. But that's okay.
song: I Can't Go On Without You - Kaleo. Not a perfect fit, but some of the lines are quite Raymond, I think.

Least Favorite character: Akainu. Aikanu? The admiral guy - not even for what he did. His philosophy rankles me, and his personality makes me wanna punch in the nose.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): I mostly x reader with characters, buuut - Frobin's cute, I've seen great ZoSan stuff. Thanks to @yamiyamiart I'm down for Croco/Sanji. I like Law/Kid, but funnily enough I haven't read any xD and I love the two couples that are the Charlotte kids who basically stan'd their new families and not Mama's.
Character I find most attractive: Marco. Those eyes are cheating, that chest ain't hurting anything, I wanna steal those sandals, and look he can just talk to me non-stop.
Character I would marry: It's a Legit Toss Up - Kid, Killer, Law, or Crocodile. Marco too honestly. All for different, yet equal reasons idk that I could ever choose.
Character I would be best friends with: Usopp. I'm a chicken, I enjoy drawing and creating, and I love to fiddle and tinker, and I know he would protect me from the scariest stuff - bugs.
a random thought: I wouldn't actually want t a devil fruit power. I really really love swimming too much.
An unpopular opinion: Idk - I'm a live and let live kind of person. I guess if I had any kind of opinion, popular or otherwise, it would be that some people just need to take a deep breath. Someone else's pairing or POT or TOP or OPT or whatever doesn't invalidate your own, etc. etc. We all love these characters, that's enough.
my canon OTP: Errr... idk. Probably Bege and his wife. She's feisty, I like her.
Non-canon OTP: ZoSan probably? Idk, after reading 20 Year Waltz by - I think - @landeg (I'm bad with names, my apologies if I'm tagging the wrong person) I just fell hard for them. (I also recommend the comic, I think it's up on red bubble or some such, easily worth 20+ $ imo)
most badass character: honestly, I gotta say Kid - No mentor, no teacher, no granddad or anything. Aside from Killer and the people he eventually gathered up, he didn't have any real support or help, and how far he got on his own like that is impressive.
pairing I am not a fan of: None comes to mind. I can see the pros of pretty much any pairing. I'm personally not in for under age pairing, but I mean like, teenagers date. I was a teenager, I remember that. Cutesy stuff has no age concerns for me.
character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Ennnnnh. No strong feelings here. I'm just enjoying the story xD
favourite friendship: Zoro and Chopper. OMG the vibes, the art, the banter, I love it. Those two are just perfect buddies.

asdagjsdag YES the gang would make such a big deal of having ghosts, they'd probably try to make money off of julian somehow. robin and charlie would be 100% best friends. the captain would be having a breakdown at thier impropriety 24/7 but fanny would get along with them way better than she'd expect lol
