anyway heres those otis and foxy hcs i mentioned yesterday:

putting this under a read more cuz it got long

this is kind of a mismatch of canon, fanfic (specifically grandpahasnorights' series on ao3), and my own thoughts

theyre brothers by blood, and both were adopted into the firefly family, tho otis is the one that found them (foxy found them much later)

their childhood sucked. bad.

otis had it considerably worse. their parents were intense jesus freaks that thought otis was like. demonic because hes albino.

foxys younger, by 2 or 3 years, and had it much better simply by virtue of Not Being Otis. he even got an actual name, whereas otis was just "the boy" most of the time

otis was always kinda twisted. liked killing and torturing animals, and getting into fights. was not very kind to his brother, the golden child, most of the time.

foxy was, by comparison, much softer. he grew up going to church with their parents, believing that something must be fundamentally wrong with his brother for their parents to treat him like that, believing that the abuse was justified.

watching the hunchback of notre dame as a child was what made it click for him that their parents were awful people, that otis wasnt bad just because he looked different

meanwhile, otis was spending his free time like. dismembering fluffy bunnies in the woods or something, because he really actually was an awful little child

like i get it but come on dude

anyway, thats when foxy started turning against their parents and siding with otis. otis was a bad influence on him, and they both started getting into more fights together, some petty theft, vandalism, etc

beating the shit out of people and sneaking into movie theaters was their sibling bonding time

otis starts getting into some satanic shit, while foxy turns away from religion completely

by this point, their parents are abusing both of them, tho they blame most of foxys bad behavior on otis and see him as a corrupting force

one night, otis snaps, and kills both of them. foxy sees it happen, and theres a very tense moment in which foxy is certain that his brother is going to kill him.

(otis definitely considered it)

but instead otis just bails, and they dont see each other again for like a decade

otis runs into spaulding when hes on the run for a series of murders he got up to while involved in a cult, meets mama, and ends up sticking around. he doesnt vibe too much with little rufus and tiny, but then babys born and hes like "aw shit i care about this itty bitty little child, guess this is my family now"

foxy spends the rest of his teen years bouncing between foster homes, until he ages out of the system and turns to petty theft, and later burglary and carjacking, to make ends meet.

he spends a couple years as far away from texas as he can get. makes some friends, commits his first murder, spends some time in the clink

the very same week he comes back to texas, he picks up a little blonde hitchhiker near a backwater town called ruggsville, and the rest is history

Otis would absolutely act like it's a chore to take care of you during this time, but in reality he secretly loves it.

He loves the idea of you relying so completely on him and how you will wail for him if he doesn't take care of you in the middle of your Heat.

It fuels his ego in a way that leaves him hard and aching in his pants.

He'll try and complain and growl at you when you start trying to nest, yelling at you for stealing his clothes and blankets, but if you leave the room and come back you will find even more of his clothes and spare blankets dumped on your nest while he ignores you from the other side of the room. Intently staring at his latest art piece yet focused entirely on the way your scent spikes with happiness.

Would definitely choke back an answering pleased growl at your delighted chirp.

The closer it gets to your Heat the more antsy and aggressive Otis becomes.

Slaughtering victims with a frightening amount of sadism that he rarely displays. Usually content on "playing" with his prey instead of butchering them like he will during this time. Especially if any victim is a fellow Alpha. They are treated to his most vile and furious urges and instincts.

Everyone tends to stay clear of him, and you, the closer your Heat is. (Everyone probably except Baby. She thinks Otis is hilarious during this time)

It will get to the point where he never wants you to leave the room, except for the bathroom, and he even grumbles the entire time you take a shower. He will bring food up to you and hand feed you to appease some of his more basic instincts to take care of you.

Otis will start stockpiling food and water in your room, scenting over the entire space almost hourly, and yes that includes scenting you as well. Huffing and growling the entire time like an angry bear.

He won't have sex with you as much in the lead up to your Heat, his Alpha hindbrain more focused on preparing for the actual Heat to start, but he will grope and pet you heavily. Leaving lots of teeth marks, hand-shaped bruises, and hickies on you.

Will absolutely still make you blow him or fuck between your thighs when he's particularly worked up.

Once your Heat actually starts then his possessiveness goes through the roof.

He doesn't let anyone near the door of the room, except maybe Mama Firefly on occasion, and you barely are able to leave to use the bathroom.

He is extremely attentive, but will stay his usual grumpy and surly self. Growling at you when you try to leave the nest, plopping completely on top of you once you return to cover you back in his scent, and will bite you everywhere hard enough to bleed.

Swatting at your backside when you try to wiggle free.

He'll lazily clean you up once you get too filthy (meaning you whine and beg him enough for him to agree) but he will use that time as an excuse to check over your wounds and grab you more water or even force feed you. Possibly letting you sit on his cock the entire time you sip on water and eat to help keep you calm and him focused.

(I don't have to mention the brutal fuckfest that will happen the entirety of your Heat.)

When you start nearing the end, when you are mostly exhausted and limp, he will let himself be a bit more soft and gentle with your aching body.

Leaving more kiss marks than bite marks. Nuzzling into you while you nap. Will even pet over your hair and back. Might even let Baby bring him an icepack to place between your legs to help with the soreness.

Of course he might slip out some words of endearments, whisper declarations of love into your skin, but will deny this moment of softness if you call him out on it.

Moshpit Headcanons

I like moshing so I'm going to write how I think my favorite characters would act in a moshpit

Baby Firefly

She would definitely have a lot of fun

She'd probably switch between just dancing/head bopping and actually being in the pit, but there'd never be a time during the show where she wouldn't be moving

If someone isn't following pit Etiquette and pisses her off, she wouldn't hesitate to get in a fight (and maybe bring them home for her family to deal with)

Otis Driftwood

Otis would take it way to seriously and not realize what was going on at first (Baby probably forced brought him to the show because I can't see him going by his own free will)

He full on punches a few people out of anger, thinking they're trying to fight him

He might start to get into it by the end of the show

Marnie (pokemon)

Lets be real here, she definitely grew up with moshpits

She'll go the hardest at Piers's shows to show her support

Tries to get her friends to join in initially but lets off if they don't want to

Piers (pokemon)

He's usually the one performing so he doesn't get into the pit often

But when he does, he has a lot of fun

He doesn't go too hard and just stays on the edge of the pit pushing people back in when he gets tired

How would Otis spend his weekend?

Hi! Thank you for such a fun and interesting question!! 💕💝

Having a weekend that is set apart from the rest of the week would mean that he'd have a job, which I'm sure people have varying opinions on. I'm not sure where I stand with that, but he probably has a lot of odd jobs around town; he helps out Spaulding at the gas station, he helps out RJ when he disassembles and sells the victim's cars for parts... Stuff like that. There's plenty of work to do around the house too; they have chickens for example. As another side-note, I'm not sure if others feel the same, and the movie isn't clear on this either, but I'm pretty sure some of Otis' art projects are in Spauldings museum (crocodile lady) so that's also something he fills his time with.

I headcanon that Otis reads quite a bit, both non-fiction and fiction. For the non-fiction he likes all sorts of stuff; philosophy, biographies of artists and musicians he likes, a little bit of history even. And for fiction, he reads anything that catches his eye. He doesn't finish every book he starts, sometimes he puts one down for months and then picks it up again much later if he's in the mood for it. He likes horror, perhaps even cosmic horror like tales by Lovecraft.

But to Otis, a truly good weekend is one where there's visitors 🔪, and when he has an s/o - you need to be there too. So here is an ideal weekend for him:

Saturday:

It starts off simple; he makes love to you in bed, then a quick shower and a lazy breakfast, chatting with the family in the kitchen while Baby squeezes oranges for fresh orange juice. He lazes around a bit, reads some, and then a couple comes in. The afternoon is filled with a chase and he's so glad to get his blood pumping. In the evening, he lights the candles and it's torture time. Once he grows bored, or the victim passes out, he returns to you and needs to get some more of that lust out, but not bloodlust this time.

Sunday:

It starts off much the same, but this time he makes the poor victim watch as he fucks you - his favourite kind of sex. He doesn't shower after, he likes the blood. These particular victims perished soon, and they bury the bodies. The hard work of that is tiring. None of the visitors inspired him this time, so he gets a little moody. You take him on a drive and the mood is so different than how it was the day before, much quieter and more subdued. You like him like this too, though, and you watch the stars and he rests his head on your shoulder for a while. Then you head back to the house, perhaps have a little treat before bed, and then the weekend is over!

Topic: Foxy with an S/O who hates Otis.

Warnings: Hating on Otis, curses, threats, smuttiness (Specifically meaning talk of cum, penis, and um... volume+proximity to other people)... look, its Driftwood-Coltrane fanfiction. Its not gonna be clean.

For as long as you've known this family, which is pretty much as long as you've been friends with Foxy (He brought you home his next time visiting them. He said you're crazy and you'll fit right in- which you do XD )- you have h a t e d Otis.

He brushed you the wrong way immediately when one of the first things he said near you was putting Foxy down (Someone you really like. Someone you genuinely just click with. Someone who later becomes more then a friend). You tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, I mean brothers do mess with each other right?

But goddamnit. The more you tried to look for a redeeming quality in this piece-of-crap man, the less you liked him. He was just gross. He's gross, and cranky, and god d a m n i t, those r a n t s. Just shut up! You're not as smart as you think! No one is listening to you. You're the boss of no one!

Anyway, so your stance on Otis has been pretty steady since the beginning. You god along great with everyone else, cuz like Foxy said you a r e crazy, so they loved you and they didn't put you off at all. You could even have a good time with them when Otis was there, you just didn't really interact with him.

As for Otis' own feelings... well, Otis doesn't like anyone (Except maybe Baby. And he clearly has a soft spot for Mama Firefly too otherwise he would never have come down to dinner in the first movie and brought... whoever was in that jar for her. I cant clearly hear the name.). So he pretty much disliked you from the beginning too. Took one look at you, rolled his eyes and moved on.

Foxy... is a big fan of your distaste for his brother honestly XD Like, you like him more??? Really??? Hell yes. He is fucken better.

And every time that you snap at Otis (Whether it be because he said something rude towards your favourite person, Foxy, or just cuz he was getting on your nerves by... you know... existing- ), Foxy just has this shit-eating grin on his face and he'll keep you safe if Otis decides to lash out and try to hurt you for it. He'll aim a loaded shot gun right at his brother and mean it. And Otis will see that he means it.

(Sure, he may not intend to actually kill Otis like you might enjoy, just wound him, but uh- being shot is gonna hurt like a bitch no matter where the wound is)

It turns him on, too. Like goddamn- the moment you grit your teeth and growl or even spit at Otis- Foxy feels himself getting as hard as rock. The first few times this happens, he doesn't both you about it. He's a grown man, he can handle this. And by 'handle this', i do not mean jerk off. I mean he'll just, sort of, adjust his jeans and live with it until he stops being turned on and it softens up again?? He ignores it, basically. Yes, he will have a yucky creamy mess in his underwear (Or? Just his jeans?? I don't know if these men would wear underwear. They stinky) but eh he can live it. He's gross, you must know this.

And oh! Yes. You can bet your bottom dollar you are extra loud when Foxy's fucking you in the Firefly house. You dont give a fuck if most of the family hears, they don't care themselves (Mama Firefly is probably just like 'Oh good for sweet Winnie~ ^^ ~', Baby rolls her eyes like 'Ugh, i'm trynna watch a fricken movie here!', Spaulding is at work, Tiny figures someone's having a tantrum upstairs which is pretty standard, RJ just leaves like 'fuck this i'd rather be outside anyway', and Grandpa... 😂😂 sorry but Grandpa probably cheers you on- )- you just want Otis to know how good Foxy is in every single aspect. Its a low blow, but hell if you care?? Otis is a bastard.

Foxy thinks your craziness is amusing and adorable, and he's so chuffed that the one you're crazy for is him.

You're also super affectionate with Foxy when Otis is around. I mean, you're normally affectionate with Foxy (How could you not be?? Look at him! Tell me you don't wanna give him kisses and hug him) because he's great, but it definitely hits different when Otis' (self imposed) lonely ass is around to see it. No one wants worship him, do they?? Nope.

Like, you're all over him like some kind of obsessed love-struck freak (And, again, who could blame you? look at him-). Running your hands up his sides or over his chest (Dipping under his shirts sometimes), your lips on is jaw or giving him a very deep very obscene tongue-kiss, sitting sideways his lap so you can still see him and have intimate whisper-little talks with him (And kicking Otis if you're close enough 😅😅), sucking slow and wet hickeys into his neck while he watches his old movies, etc.

Again- Foxy does not mind at all 😂😅😅 He loves it actually. He doesn't move to stop you at all. In fact, if he brings Otis around you (Which he loves to do on purpose, because he loves to see how protective and loving you get about him when you see Otis with him) he will apologise. Like 'Sorry, sweetheart... couldn't get a sitter on such short notice. Its not my fault y'cant schedule your booty calls better, sweet thing... he'll jack off in the bushes or something.'.

You are totally willing to brawl with Otis if you it comes to it!! If he keeps insulting Foxy, or you, or just reach your limit- you have lunged at him before and Foxy has had to catch you, throw you over his shoulder and walk off like 'nope you, crazy pants, are the best fuck i've had in a while; you're not gettin' yourself killed that easy on my watch'.

Otis... Otis is not much more disturbed or pissed by your attitudes towards him then he is by everyone else's annoying little Things that he hates. He's not bothered, basically (Cuz uh, being annoyed and cranky are his default settings), and that pisses you off more.

Mmm, Otis loving hours! I’m just gonna do some general stuff for our crusty boy.

- He is by far the last person in the Firefly family to start trusting you. His personality comes off as the complete opposite of Baby’s and only his family is sure he won’t kill you every time he starts threatening you with something sharp.

- When Otis does finally get around to liking you, you won’t know. He’s incredibly bad at conveying his emotions in a way that a newcomer can understand, so you’re left oblivious until he finally makes a move. While the rest of the family knows he likes you, Baby is the only one he is honest about his intentions with which is a mistake because she constantly teases both of you.

- Otis finally makes a real move at their next Halloween party. It comes in the form of him giving you a knife and telling you to get things started for him with the new guests. If you’ve stayed alive this long, it’s because you’d be willing to do it. As you slice into your victim, Otis begins whispering praises into your ear and you realize how close he is. When you turn around to tell him you’re done, he pulls you in for a kiss.

- Let’s be honest, he’s kinda dirty and smelly but not unbearably so. If you think he saves tongue kisses for the third date or so, you’re sorely mistaken. His mouth is clean enough, although the taste is a bit metallic.

- The next first time won’t come long after that because Otis feels like he’s waited long enough for it. With the rest of his family cheering the two of you on, he’ll pull you upstairs and into the bedroom. If you’re really not ready he’s willing to step on the brakes for a bit, but otherwise, get ready for a long and crazy night.
