When will Otherkin Day and Therianthropy Day be in 2022?

Otherkin Day is coming up soon on July 9, commemorating when our community coined the word “otherkin” 32 years ago, on July 9, 1990. I interviewed the involved folks about how that happened, which you can read about in the Otherkin Timeline, abridged edition.

Therianthropy Day is observed on the first full moon in November. That means it falls on a different date each year, so mark your calendars. This year (2022) it will be on the Tuesday the 8th, 11:02 AM GMT. It commemorates the first Howl (in-person gather of therians) which was held in 1994, 28 years ago. Learn more about the therian community history by reading the Timeline of the Therian Community written by @liongoatsnake. Therians originally proposed observing Therianthropy Day on that date as “International Werewolf Day” or “Awereness Day” in 1996, 26 years ago, in a thread you can still read in this archive. Independently of that, in 2016, Muninn the Raven proposed observing the full moon of November as Therianthropy Day, by that name.

Okay, but on a serious note, I've been writing songs about my alterhumanity since February of this year and I wanted to do something special for my first Otherkin day since my awakening back in last December. I'm an artist at heart, specifically a songwriter (hence the name), so I WANT to do this; it's just that I'm scared of getting hacked or doxxed or whatever by close-minded man-children.

Regardless, I'm quite brave (and frankly bored), so I'm going to post anyway; throwing caution to the virtual wind!

Dream We Had of A Cool Website That Doesn’t Exist but It Would Be Epic If It Did

Yesterday, as part of Otherkin Day, us, a friend, and our partner system watched the latter play, 2064: Read Only Memories.

A heavy part of the game’s plot revolves around an anti-transhumanist group who protests/discriminates against people who have had genetic body modification. Playing that game before bed impacted our dreams and we had a dream of an alterhuman, transhumanistt, and transgender resource website. The website was a well categorized/searchable list of possible ways to modify the body (both temporarily and permanently) as well as list possible ways to add to the body for similar customization (like clothing, apparel, wise). For each category information was included. For example, one thing we recall was a page on top surgery. The page included the different methods surgically taken, information on what will need to be done both pre-op, immediately after post-op, and long-term post-op. Short term care of the healing chest, longer term care of the scars sort of thing. Contained some pros, cons. List of complications, etc. All with citations and even recommended “read more see this” links. There was also a section people could click to where people could send in their own personal journeys with that type of body modification.  This kind of thing went on and on for lots of things. Ear pointing, sub-dermal implants, permanent hair removal, and so on and more. The website even had stuff for more commonplace modification like tattoos (like a tattoo’s long term care needs). The website also had pages for more body decoration related things. A page just on the pros/cons, ethical concerns for both real and flux fur tails (Each having a page regarding how they are made, upkeep, etc. Plus, for real fur tails, some ideas on how to learn where specific sellers get their fur from. And for flux tails some subpages on how flux tails can be made included some more advanced stuff like adding a rig inside the tail to make it have more realistic movement limitations as well as links to people who make electric tails.) Pages on things like fangs (both custom made as well as ones that can be just bought at Halloween stores, their pros/cons between them, some upkeep information, any hazards to keep in mind. Other pages included masks, some basic how fursuits are made stuff, and so much more. The website also had pages talking about the extremely experimental types of modification (like Neil Harbisson and the antenna implanted in his skull, etc.) Other things this website in our dream had was like links to news regarding breakthroughs in medicine and sciences related to modification, anything regarding modification in the political sector, and more. It was a cool dream.
