Dearest,
I must say, the stories are entirely inaccurate. The Inquisitor is nothing like they make her out to be. She speaks Orlesian very well for a Dalish, though she is difficult to approach, as she is invariably surrounded. Most often she is with the other Dalish and another elf they call Solas. I was able to speak to her briefly, however!
You see, she often wakes before dawn. This is common knowledge among the staff, it seems; it was a serving girl who told me such. Of course, I did not come all this way not to speak to the famed Herald! So, I woke at dawn and ventured out to the lower courtyard, where she is said to spend the early morning with her bow.
Indeed, I found her there. She wields a bow nearly as long as she is tall, and she is terrifyingly accurate with it even at a great distance. I see now the source of the Inquisition’s success: it is this small, soft-spoken Dalish. I do not believe she wished to speak to me, but she politely obliged me for a time.
As you requested, I asked whether it is true that she is Andraste’s chosen.
I will spare you the exact words she used, but let me say this: her answer was a very emphatic no.

1. Meanest VS Kindest
Valyrill is definitely the meanest and can be very sadistic when she chooses to be. Morgana can be a b*tch at times (valid though). Eithne, despite her appearance, is very kind. She makes people herbal teas and takes time to chat to everyone at Skyhold, kindest tol bean. Evelyne is also super kind, she only really gives flowers to Josephine though.
2. Tallest VS Shortest
You could not guess who the tallest is… It’s Eithne lmao. She is a gentle giant and I love her. Nim is tall for an elf I think, 5′8. Tormod is obviously the shortest but my boy is built. Grace is pretty short too!
12. Brainiest VS Brawniest
Adahlena and Sara are brainy, however, my quarian girl is THE brainiest of the bunch. Give her scrap and she can build you something useful. An innovative mind at it’s finest (it’s also a detriment to her character). I would say Tormod is the brawniest out of all my OCs. Gwen is very fit though, as is Nim and Evelyne. I mean, they wield swords and shields guys… they gotta be strong.
13. Most forgiving VS Most grudgeful
Oh ho let me tell you, Ithylwyn is very, very forgiving. She doesn’t have time for grudges. Nim is very forgiving in certain circumstances but she doesn’t hold grudges. You know who does hold grudges? Gwen. Her grudge against Howe is unparalleled even after she kills him. She can’t bring herself to act civil around Nathaniel either. Adahlena and Val’s grudges against the Templars come pretty close though, Val’s especially.

Some headcanons for the new OCs I’ve been making. Maybe I should do these for all my OCs?
Vaati Adaar (Dragon Age: Inquisition) - face claim Chris Evans, bottom left
Vaati was practically born into the Valo-Kas Mercenary Company, a Vashoth child of Tal-Vashoth parents Meraad and Isala. However, he was kidnapped at age five by Templars and imprisoned in the Circle of Magi in Kirkwall, known as the Gallows. At age fifteen, he was rescued and set free by Warden-Lieutenant Lissa Surana and former Templar Raleigh Samson.
Vaati had a hard time in Kirkwall. His left horn was permanently damaged when a Templar sawed it off and had a fellow apprentice cauterize it with a fireball - the apprentice was made Tranquil and Vaati was left with a jagged white stump where his horn used to be. As part of his proposal, Blackwall gifts Vaati with a magic silverite false horn that he wears always.
Vaati was raised by Shokrakar after he escaped the Gallows. He was eager to expand his powers beyond the Circle’s teachings - he has an analytical mind and quickly became Shokrakar’s assistant tactician and second-in-command.
Vaati wields a spear that he uses mainly as a staff, and a spiked greatshield for defense and sometimes offense. He is only twenty-three when he becomes the Inquisitor to protect young Tash Adaar.
Vaati used to be involved with Tash’s elder step-brother Arno and acts sort of as a big brother to the Herald. He and Tash work together to plan the way the Inquisition goes, although Vaati defers to Tash’s judgments for the most part.
Vaati is demisexual, and began being attracted to Blackwall after they spent many weeks talking in the stables and whittling toys for the kids in New Haven.
Vaati enjoys carving and making things with his hands. His greatest fear is Tranquility, and he still has nightmares about the Gallows, where he was threatened with it daily just for the crime of being a qunari.
Asha Lavellan (Dragon Age: Inquisition) - face claim Mallory Jansen, bottom right
Asha Lavellan was the First of Clan Lavellan, but she left in order to become a Watcher for the Arlathvhen, keeping an eye on the shemlen’s wars and movements and how they would affect the People.
She bears the vallaslin of Dirthamen, the God of Secrets. Asha is a competent assassin and mainly wields a pair of daggers. However she is a mage, so she uses these to channel magic.
Asha has spent years helping city elves flee oppressive conditions and make it to various clans. She is well known amongst the Dalish and a legend among city elves who call her the New Emerald Knight. Asha’s connections led her to become the Dalish Advisor to the Inquisition and work closely with the other advisors, the Herald, and the Inquisitor.
Solas’ apparent dislike of the People led her to greatly distrust him, even as he tried to find out more about the distinctly non-traditional Clan Lavellan, and she took over teaching Tash about the Dalish folklore and culture when he and Tash’s relationship crumbled. Solas offered to remove her vallaslin and she balked, avoiding him from then on.
Asha encountered Briala at Halamshiral and the two women fell hard in love, particularly after Asha helped Tash to keep Briala in power with a public truce, and then after she assassinated Celene once Corypheus was defeated, leaving Briala as the power behind the throne Gaspard occupied as a puppet Emperor.
Asha is a rift mage and has perfected a technique much like Calpernia’s ability to teleport. She also gives Briala an enchanted dagger as a token of their love.
After she and Briala marry, Briala wears a mask with the vallaslin of Falon’Din hidden inside it, to commemorate the bond between her and Asha as one of similar strength to that of the two gods.
Benny Cousland (Dragon Age: Origins) - face claim Pedro Pascal, top right
Benezio Alendro Cousland, Lord of Highever, is actually Josephine Montilyet’s cousin through marriage - his brother’s wife, Oriana, is Josephine’s cousin, but the Couslands originally came from Antiva and the two have several ancestors in common. Josephine gets a message to Benny to have him serve as Tash’s tutor in dealing with nobility.
Benny escaped the massacre at Castle Cousland with the sacrifice of Ser Gilmore, and came across the Hero of Ferelden’s party by chance as he was trying to reach Ostagar to find Fergus.
Benny is skilled in the diplomatic arts, as well as with the rapier, and he used both these talents to assist the Hero. He formed a close attachment to Zevran during this time - the two informally married after the Blight and traveled together, first to Amaranthine with the Warden’s party. He became known as the Dark Wolf there.
Benny and Zevran spend the intervening time between the end of Origins and the start of Inquisition fighting corrupt institutions and helping protect the disadvantaged. Around this time they both become Red Jennies. While Zevran does assassination work for Leliana, Benny becomes somewhat of a mentor to Sera, helping her organize the Red Jennies.
Zevran and Benny form a polyamorous relationship with Mysen of Denerim and his husband Alistair during Inquisition. The four eventually end up in Kirkwall, helping Varric, working to improve the orphanage Mysen and Alistair started, and occasionally going on missions for Divine Victoria or the Red Jennies.
Benny is mildly allergic to strawberries and will break out in hives if he eats one, although it will clear up quickly and he won’t be in danger of anaphylaxis.
Benny is technically next in line for the throne of Ferelden should Queen Anora have no heirs. He formally adopts Alistair and Mysen’s foundling children so they are Cousland heirs, and hires guards to protect the orphanage.
Luka (the Witcher - Netflix) - face claim Niall Horan, top left
Luka is a gold dragon in human form - he prefers his human form immensely and only ever shifts back to save someone’s life or flee quickly. His mother was killed by dragon hunters when he was still a hatchling, and he had barely come of age in human years when his father Villentretenmerth had to leave him behind.
In human form Luka can still breathe fire, and can cast limited spells when he sings. His singing voice can be bewitching if he isn’t careful. HIs full name is Luczaryth.
Luka has a bright and happy spirit and is surprisingly naive. He seeks to do good deeds and seek out joy for his long-lived existence.
Luka has repaired over many years an abandoned house in a forest on the Continent. Jaskier heard Luka’s singing from afar one day and came upon the fine house. He seduced the young dragon, and the two spent many weeks together, falling deeply in love. Jaskier invited Luka to join him on his journeys and the two often perform duets, although Luka will occasionally leave to make sure their house is safe.
When Luka meets Geralt, the Witcher reluctantly takes the young dragon under his wing (so to speak) to protect him. Luka and Jaskier experience a great attraction to Geralt and act on it.
The three maintain a polyamorous relationship. Although Geralt chases Jaskier off after meeting Luka’s father, they reunite and agree not to be parted in anger again.
Despite acting very submissive to the other two in public, Luka is the one to take charge in bed, with Geralt letting go of all control and Jaskier switching between roles as the mood takes them.

Happy Friday the 13th!! For appropriately spooky vibes, let's see "it’s only a matter of time" from the spooky prompts - for Oriana and whoever you think fits.
I noticed while scrawling back through some of my past fills that this is not, in fact, the first Friday the 13th I've posted for, and you specifically said happy friday the 13th last time 😂
but here is a little snippet of Oriana and Cyren in the time between the end of DA:I and the start of Trespasser for @dadrunkwriting

“It’s only a matter of time,” Cyren murmured, gently turning her arm back and forth as he examined the faint green lines beginning to creep away from the Anchor. “I don’t know what Solas did to stabilize this, but clearly it wasn’t a permanent fix.”
“Always did have a feeling it would kill me in the end,” Oriana gritted out. The mark had always ached, but now the barest touch was agony. On a good day, she could manage at least a few hours with her bow in hand. This was not a good day.
Cyren frowned at her. “I’m not going to let that happen.”
“What, you’ll cut my hand off first?” She shook her head and withdrew her hand from his light grasp. “It’s magic, Cyren. Magic that no one has seen before or since. For all we know, that could make it worse.”
“I know that,” he said flatly. “But I also know that doing nothing will make it worse.”
“You don’t know that for sure,” she snapped. “It’s been a year since we sealed the Breach for good. Maybe it’ll get worse. Maybe not.”
He sighed, and for a moment neither of them spoke. Then, not unkindly, he said, “At least let me try to ease the pain.”
“I’m not dying,” she grumbled. “Not yet, anyway.”
“I didn’t say you were,” he said, idly brushing a stray curl out of her face. “You know where to find me if you need to.”
Oriana cracked a wan smile and replied, “Pining in the library. I know.”
“I don’t pine.”
“Says the man who regularly sits in a specific chair and stares out the window.”
Cyren chuckled and admitted, “Maybe sometimes.” Then, more seriously, he added, “I will write to your mother and Keeper Deshanna if that’s what it takes to make you take this seriously.”
“Don’t you dare.”
He only winked, and turned away.

I have this like movie scene planned in my head for Anora's wedding where everything is scenic and beautiful picturesque fantasy wedding complete with classical quartet music and as she and Cailan are leaving down the isle she and Oriana make time stopping eye contact before Anora is whisked away leaving Ori standing there alone and its the last moment that either of them see each other until the landsmeet and boy howdy what a wild contrast

3. How did you choose their name?
Ellaria Trevelyan -> I think I must have been in the midst of reading Game of Thrones. Which, naming her after another character was completely unintentional. I don't even remember thinking about it, until I saw the GoT episode with Ellaria Sand and being like... "Huh... I wonder..."
Ori Lavellan -> Oriana's full name actually came from the fantasy name generator website. It didn't really seem to fit the naive and idealistic character I was crafting, but the shortened version of Ori really did. Plus, I just love nicknames.
Eliza Shepard -> I really like the word Elysium. So, initially, the name was Elysia. But as her background is a twisted version of a War Hero, I didn't want her name being so close to Elysium. I figured Eliza kept the feeling without seeming uninspired.
Lucette de Sardet -> This is another one that I got from a nickname. She's very close to her cousin Constantin. I wanted Constantin to use a petname for her that was one part obnoxious and one part adorable and settled on LuLu, but she's a diplomat and part of the royal family so she couldn't be named Lucy, but Lucette worked perfectly especially with the surname De Sardet.
**I should note that both of my Ryders look the same (default), but I kept waffling on his personality. I couldn't decide between a bitter, angry, daddy-issue ridden asshole who doesn't want anyone to know he has a heart of gold (Thomas) and a goofy, adrenaline junkie, with a nerdy side (Alexander). So I just ended up using both for different stories.
Thomas Scott Ryder -> I created Thomas Scott around the same time I was playing Greefall, and Lucette's faceclaim has always been Antonia Thomas. I thought the name sounded really natural. I like to think he's named after his mother's grandfather who was 10x the father to him that Alec ever was.
Alexander Scott Ryder -> This one was lazy. I just wanted him to be named after Alec, but Scott Alexander didn't sound nearly as good as Alexander Scott.
15. What is something about your OC that makes you laugh?
Ellaria Trevelyan -> She is really outgoing, but doubly so when she's around Cullen who is so reserved. She makes bawdy jokes and gets in his space because she finds it so funny and can tell he likes it, even if it turns his ears scarlet.
Ori Lavellan -> Having grown up with only the noises of nature, she's actually really skittish. Not scared, but easily startled by loud noises. This has lead Varric to calling her Cricket because she jumps so high.
Eliza Shepard -> She has a voracious sweet tooth (in part inspired by my own blasted sugar addiction). She keeps a secret drawer of sweets that Kaidan and Liara pilfer from to help them cope with their biotic metabolism. Eliza still hasn't figured it out because she thinks she ate it and just doesn't remember.
Lucette de Sardet -> She is really diplomatic. It's her job. She's representing her entire country! But she also has a really strong moral compass, and when someone crosses those lines, she has no qualms punching them in the face. Needless to say, she's caused a diplomatic incident or two.
Thomas Scott Ryder -> His relationship with his sister. I only have sisters, but I have a couple cousins who have always been really protective, playful, and rambunctious with me the way I imagine an older brother would have. It's really fun to write and I hope equally fun to read. Especially since he's an asshole to just about everyone else.
Alexander Scott Ryder -> Just how energetic he is. I am always drained so it's lots of fun to explore a character who acts like a kid hopped up on an entire bag of halloween candy. And, just like that kid, how he crashes into his bed at the end of the day.
17. Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?
Ellaria Trevelyan -> Big YES for this one. Initially, her backstory involved abuse by a templar. I thought it was an important part of showing the power imbalance between mages and templars in the circle. But, even though the abuse was only ever eluded to and not explicit, it never felt right. I couldn't do justice to her experience. So Unharrowed (my fic about the Inquisitor pre-DAI) has been on hiatus for the last...5 years. I recently had a breakthrough with her backstory and finally starting writing the version of Unharrowed I've always wanted.
Ori Lavellan -> I have a few ficlets when Ori is really struggling with Solas' departure and uses another character to feel something other than pain...These were written for fictober a few years ago and upon reflection, she never would've done this no matter how much pain she was in.
Eliza Shepard -> This is more of an oversight on my part. But half of her storyline is written as though she has biotics and the other half as though she's just a soldier. I like the story with her as a soldier, it makes her interactions with Kaidan's biotics more novel.
Lucette de Sardet -> It's been a while since I've read any of my Lucette fics...but nothing comes to mind for her :)
Thomas Scott Ryder -> I both love and hate that he smokes clove cigarettes. It fits his angry at the world, leave me a lone so I can sulk outer persona. But I worry that readers will judge him because it's 2185/2819 and he's still partaking in a really unhealthy habit.
Alexander Scott Ryder -> It's not really a character element, but another writing regret regarding him. The only stories I've ever written about Alexander Scott take place after High Noon / breaking up with Reyes. I feel like I could've made the stories infinitely better if I'd taken the time to think about specific storylines or head canons about the way he and Reyes got together. As it is, it feels somewhat generic.
