Daily reminder that it happened twice for someone to be compared to Oromë while riding into battle. The first one was Fingolfin. The second one was Théoden.
Fingolfin, burning with so much rage, Beleriand ablaze, his nephews dead, eyes so bright and inhuman and otherwordly that he gets mistaken for a Vala. And he challenged Morgoth to a fight, and wounded him seven times, and scarred him for the rest of eternity, and orcs made no boast about that duel, and no songs were sung about it, for the sorrow was too deep.
And Théoden. Just. Théoden. Whose mind was poisoned, whose son was dead, and the world was falling apart around him, but who would not stand down and would not give up. And the armies of Rohan came, the hosts of Mordor wailed, and terror took them, and they fled, and died, and the hoofs of wrath rode over them.
Something about Fingolfin riding out to challenge Morgoth in wrath and despair, raging at the world and nothing going as it should be — something about Théoden riding out in wrath and hope, because there is a better future and he will be damned if he doesn't do everything in his power to lead the world to it.

The in-between of black and white, silver is a refined and distinguished color, better known as a noble metal. Its use in jewelry, sculptures, and for monetary value has it associated with wealth and nobility. This color represents balance, grace, the passage of time, renewal, purity, honesty, redemption, and strength. In western cultures, its purity is considered dangerous to evil. There's also the concept of a "silver lining," which suggests that even in difficult or challenging situations, there is always hope for a better outcome.

Bregan D'aerthe
Still on a mad BG3 kick… so here I am doing more FR stuff in my spare time! Redid an old Bregan D'aerthe piece from 2010.
Tried for a "Randomly stumble upon a hidden area in the Undercity Ruins only to be greeted in the dark by an unusual collection of brigands led by an even more unusual drow" type scene, because lord knows I desperately wanted that to happen.
Modelled Jarlaxle's face after Richard O'Brien (because if you're as old as I am and you've seen him on The Crystal Maze… you'll know why I can't imagine anyone else as Jarlaxle).

in Beleriand there was a widespread festival on the anniversary of Finwë's death in which the Noldor make an effigy of Morgoth and burn it while cursing his name, a festival that is practiced by some of the Returned even afterwards in Aman. it's just that when the Returned Fëanorians do it, they tend to include curses laid specifically on "those who held our Lords captive"—which obviously only refers to Morgoth (Maedhros) and Sauron (Celebrimbor) and definitely not on Námo who still holds the Fëanorians in Mandos. because they're not captives in Mandos, right? they're still healing. and as soon as they're done healing Námo is going to release them, aren't you, Námo?
