Err… hello. I'm having some technical issues but this won't stop me from painting problematic #elves… Have another #Maedhros because I 💙 him (ꈍ ᴗ ꈍ✿)

A couple of very silly little comics I made of Beren & Lúthien, which is my absolute favorite tale from the Silmarillion.

still not six sentences still not sunday
I was tagged by @polutrope, thank you! I never end up doing these on Sundays somehow...
I finished the first part of my modern QPR Russingon AU (where they figure out that Maedhros is aroace and that they want a QPR), so here's a bit of smitten awkwardness.
“Give me your hand,” he says, hooking his foot around the rolling stool they keep in the kitchen area to pull it closer. He sits down and Fingon holds out his now dripping hand. Thankfully, it is only dripping water and not blood, and the cut is objectively very small. Barely enough to justify a band-aid at all, if not for the fact that Fingon will never leave it alone and keep re-opening it if it’s not protected.
Maedhros struggles a little with the box, which is not made to be opened one-handed, and takes out one of the child superhero-themed band-aids. He got them for Fingon as a joke, because he goes through boxes of bandages seemingly like candy, but Fingon unironically loves them. They already adorn several of his fingers like so many rings, little explosions of colour against his dark skin.
Maedhros slaps the newest one on his index finger and jokingly bends to kiss it better – but he lingers, just a little. Fingon doesn’t take his hand back. It lasts no more than an extra second or two, but it’s enough for Maedhros’s brain to start spinning.

Some practice sketches based on the best part of the silmarillion
"Beren said: It is fulfilled. Even now a Silmaril is in
my hand.'
Then Thingol said: Show it to me!
And Beren put forth his left hand, slowly opening its fingers;
but it was empty."
Like how iconic is that. Anywho here is Beren's hand +silmaril, huan, and carcharoth.

Peridea and the shadows of darkness
Peridea reminds me a bit of some of the most corrupt and evil places of Middle Earth. I'm thinking of Dol Guldur and the stains of dark sorcery that surround it. I know it is trite to point out that something might be derivative of Tolkien, seeing how so much is derivative of the master of fantasy; but given some of Dave Filoni’s external inspirations, it makes sense. Peridea, where the Nightsister Mothers have great influence and dark magick seems to flow, there is what appears unnatural corruption shaping the land that evokes similar images of Mirkwood and Mordor.
It's an interesting imagining of the planet. By analogy, just as in Mordor “everywhere Sauron reigns”, where nature is corrupted almost absolutely; on Peridea, it seems everywhere a certain darkness pervades. Obviously speculative, but I find it curious that the home of the Nightsister Mothers, and what we currently know as home to strange catacombs, is also the place in which resides Baylan's mysterious ambitions. There is something about the shape of the land on Peridea that speaks to such dark mystery, like what I imagine it would be like in Angmar, with dark whispers riding the winds and rolling shadows over the valleys. Extending the analogy a bit, I think it is interesting that one could perceive some connection between Peridea as we have seen it and the Malachor concept art.
Just thinking of the Nightsister Mothers evokes an image of a sort of diffuse and permeating shadow of dark magick - a metaphysical form of magic, generally unseen, but especially sinister in the traces it leaves behind. The dark, towering monolith is one exceptional detail:

I like to criticize The Hobbit movies as much as the next gal, but after RoP came out, I think there should be a rule against talking shit about The Hobbit. From now on I'm cool with Tauriel, bad CG whatever. This... I can't criticize it. You can't even pick something, it's just bad. ALL of it. It's almost impressive, really.

From Hobbiton to Mordor: Creating Your Own World Like Tolkien's
Worldbuilding is one of the most important aspects of any novel, so take a moment to learn from the best of the best: J.R.R. Tolkien.
There are few works as enduring as J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. Even now, decades after the books were written, movies and shows are still being made. Books on Middle Earth are still being published. In fact, there’s even a Lord of the Rings concert coming to my city soon, and it’s a huge deal.
It’s no secret that Tolkien was great at storytelling. He captivated the world with…
