to be honest? I've never even understood the rationale for fake-claiming in any context. There are millions of people, more dying and being born every day, and you really think we can invent enough genders, identities, disorders, words and categories to cover every possible type of human that's ever been born or will be born in the future???!! of course not, there's gonna be people who fall outside of the boxes we have because there can never be enough boxes. like there physically cannot be enough boxes.

*whispers* everyone who isn't neurotypical, ablebodied, cishet, and fitting the beauty and societal standards for their culture, is considered weird by default. and EVEN people who ARE fitting of those standards can ALSO be weird in other ways. you can't tell me someone isn't lgbt or isn't plural or isn't autistic because they're "weird" when everyone is constantly being called weird anyway. being plural is weird to people. having NPD is weird to people. having skitzohphrenia is weird to people. Being a boy who likes girly stuff is weird to people. being a lesbian is weird to people. having no legs is weird, being fat is weird, there are always going to be people calling other people weird and cringe. you simply CANNOT use "weird" or "cringe" as a basis to judge validity. you just can't???

I literally do not get it like how does that work how do you like...think that you can tell if someone's faking something. what do we have left here, like, tone of voice and body language? autism is a thing and anxiety disorders are a thing so we already know that can vary and be untrustworthy. you literally can never tell as an outsider looking in??!

My beautiful boy got back from his adventure with another player, and got a good review and a sexy new cloak from them. Unfortunately, they also saw fit to give him lower armor that is basically shoes and undies, so he ended up looking like a flasher in that robe. 😂 I mean, that armor was better than what he'd had, but I promptly gave him back his boots and leather pants. You know, for propriety's sake.

I don't remember his ID off the top of my head, but if you want to borrow him, he's Tristan, a sorcerer and a very good boy.

So my friend got a thing and now I'm playing Live A Live (apparently it's pronounced "Live Alive," and that's another thing I just get to be corrected on because I read more than I converse)

I decided to tackle the chapter that I suspected would be the most annoying first (prehistory), and the one my friend found frustrating second (Far Future).

My thoughts so far:

-I was entirely right to start with prehistory because my annoyance at some of its elements was mitigated by having to figure out the combat system, which served as a solid distraction.

-I was going to name the character after Gau from FFVI, but he's actually not very high on my favorite character list because FFVI has 14 characters and most of them are not Blue Mages (which I find incredibly frustrating to play because I have to memorize what everything is immune to).

I named him Grok instead because it sounds like early phonetic nonsense but it actually has a meaning.

-I totally made a call about Zaki based on his combat animations that turned out to be right. Also both my friend and I were disappointed that the voices in this version (and the smiley face button -_-) revealed him to not be a tall hot girl.

-Upon hearing the voices in the next chapter I desperately searched for and found a way to change the dub language to Japanese because I'm not buying a guy with that name having Wheatley's accent.

-If it's not obvious by now I'm playing the remake by the fact that there's a voiceover.

-Currently trying to figure out whether Kato has an accent in Japanese because there *is* an accent in Japanese that often gets characters slapped with either a Southern US accent or the intrusive Wheatley accent. I can't hear one, but then again I don't speak Japanese.

-Also trying to figure out if everyone on this flying syringe is going to die as the story progresses or if I'm just paranoid seeing death-flags. I mean counting five sleeping people at the start when there is supposed to be six is suspicious, to be fair.

-Realized that this chapter could very well suck like my friend said if I don't pick a name for the playable character that makes me immediately and extremely attached to him despite the dumb hat, so I named him Baymini.

-The rec room broadcast is about as far as I am right now.

#leaving video game systems in the living room.#ik I'm supposed to be saying nice things about her because I was only saying negative things for a while #wonder fuckin why not like she's told me I'm not worth the money to have a room above frostbite temperatures #and threatened to call the cops on me because I told her the reason I don't respect her is because she doesn't respect me #but anyway. she used to switch our dses off if we left the room even for two seconds #like. set it down to go pee or something #and you'd tell her not to and she'd give the sweetest smile and promise not to only to do it again later that day #anyway ik she messed up my nintendogs file doing that and at least one other game.#and this was back during the ages where games were tricky especially if you were a dyspraxic nine year old #so even without the messed up file the setback was frustrating enough #anyway even though it'd be pretty tricky to mess up my switch I still had a little panic attack in fear she'd somehow do that #lol. lmao

What's frustrating about video games as opposed to other media is that you have to actually play them in other to fully grasp the story and characters.

Unlike other media like movies and shows where you can just sit passively and watch, games you must actively participate in, in order to further the plot and reach a conclusion. The story cannot and will not progress if you do not play.

(Books and media that must be read have a similar problem, but at least with a book you have the option of just flipping to the end and getting the conclusion without going through the journey.)

Multi-player games are even worse because not only do you need to actively participate, but other people have to actively participate with you. Or else no one gets to see the conclusion.

So, if you're just bad at video games, you don't get to experience all their compelling stories or fun characters.

#this is probably why I stopped playing video games circa 2005 #that was 18 years ago #some of my followers weren't even walking yet #I haven't played or gotten into a 'new' game since #I still have my old PS2 #AND IT STILL WORKS!#but even that I don't play anymore #I'm old and tired and I don't want to have to WORK for my entertainment anymore #I work 9 hours a day at my day-job #in my leisure time I want to sit on the couch #put a show on the tv #and scroll through tumblr #I don't want to have to figure out difficult gameplay mechanics #or cooperate with strangers who are all also spouting slurs every five minutes #but fuck my life!#I really like that Lifeweaver guy from Overwatch 2 #and I wanna play Overwatch just for him!#I'm gonna go over to a friend's place this weekend and borrow their game system so I can play #Lifeweaver is getting me back into gaming!#I haven't played a new game since 2005 but that man got me acting #unwise

replaying dragon age origins really shows how religious dragon age got over time and how much i dislike it. the most devout and religious party members in origins are leliana and wynne (I know people call alistair a chantry boy, but given how you can ask him if he’s devout and if he liked his time in the chantry and he answers with ‘no’, I would wager that he’s not very devout) and even they cast doubts on the history as told by the chantry
