also for folks who ask if I could try medical tourism instead: Technically I Could, Yes... that’s on the list of possibilities. only problem: adding even MORE steps to the process of getting my surgery kind of makes me want to cry.

Why increasing public sector wages won’t cause inflation.
One of the current Tory arguments about wages is that if they increase public sector wages, inflation will go up. Even by their own logic, this is clear nonsense, and there’s a reasonably strong argument that increasing public sector wages could actually stimulate the economy too.
So, where does this idea come from? Well, it comes from business, where the idea is that if you increase wages, some or all of that price rise gets passed on to the consumer, and prices go up. Of course, even this is false, because in many cases the consumer will say “fuck that” and not buy the product, or choose a cheaper alternative. Thus, the company must instead reduce profits to retain consumers (and let’s not be fooled, a lot of companies are still making huge, untaxed profits right now). Or they cut hours and provide a less good service.
But this doesn’t apply in the public sector. Increasing wages of people in education, or in healthcare or in the civil service etc has no direct impact on the price of anything, because the public don’t directly buy our services.
However, it may actually stimulate the economy more widely.
In general, when you give rich people more money, they save it, or possibly “invest it”- meaning it basically goes out of circulation and doesn’t further benefit anyone.
If you give people right at the bottom more money, then they almost inevitably spend it right away, usually on essentials- which benefits the economy because more money is being spent, so companies have more money to pay wages, etc etc. But this doesn’t work soooo well, because people always need essentials, and will find some way of getting them, generally, if they possibly can. Of course, we want a world where everyone has access to these essentials easily, but we’re trying to think like an economist right now.
Most public sector workers are somewhere between these two extremes although some are definitely in the second category.
Right now, however a lot of people like teachers, nurses, junior doctors, junior civil servants etc etc are “feeling the squeeze”- caught between high housing prices, rising bills and stagnating wages, there’s less and less money to spend on “luxuries”. People might cut back on eating out, on take aways, on buying new clothes, on buying presents, on “treats”, on non-essential travel, on buying things like books and nice stationery, on make up and toiletries, on haircuts and getting their nails done- the list goes on.
These things aren’t essential to survival, you can do without them. So if you can’t afford to buy them, you don’t. But of course, if a lot of people stop buying these things at once, it hurts the economy. Companies that make or sell these things see profits go down, perhaps reduce hours or lay off staff, which in turn gives them less money to spend, and it all becomes a vicious cycle which shrinks your economy- i.e. the worst possible thing if you’re a Tory, supposedly.
(Investing in education and health also has long term pay off, but anyway).
If the people at the bottom and the people a bit above the bottom had a bit more spare cash, there would be more spending, and more businesses would see a proportion of that spending. And so they can offer staff more hours, pay higher wages, employ more staff. There’s more money going around and it’s a virtuous circle. The economy grows.
Would some companies then put their prices up? Maybe. Companies will often raise prices whenever they can. But the pressure to increase prices tends to come from increased costs, not increased custom. And it would matter less because everyone or nearly everyone would be earning more.
Cutting and cutting just leaves everyone poorer. We know this.
So why do the Tories keep going on TV and spouting bollocks? It might be because they don’t actually understand the economics of the situation (scarily likely) but it’s also likely to be ideological. They’d rather “win” the fight with the unions than do something that could actually help everyone.

Life in China Observations #4
It's been a while since I last did this, so let's go again!
Identity is complicated The question "where are you from" can be just as complicated as it is simple. For many people, their country of birth is where they're from, which is usually the case here. However, if you happen to be born in country A to parents from cultures B and C, immigrated and became a citizen of country D and now attend university in country E and are now on an exchange program in China, the question "where are you from" is not that easily answered. From what some of my friends told me, where you're from is actually the place where your dad was born in even though you may have been born in a different city which is a pretty interesting concept known as the "ancestral home" - 祖籍 (zǔjí) or 籍贯 (jígùan).
You have to make the first step I may have mentioned this in a previous post, but people are constantly doing something and unless you specifically and intentionally reach out and work on your friendship, you may end up drifting apart. Maybe this is a specific thing, but back home I could go a few weeks without really reaching out to my friends and then someone would suggest grabbing lunch together and it would be like no time had passed at all since we last saw each other. Here? Quite different.
Beauty and pop trends There are all sorts of weird and wonderful trends that you can come across in China. From using bread as a study tactic to decorating your workplace with banana plants, I feel like the more I assimilate here, the bigger the reverse culture shock will be when I go back home, and not just for me. dr.candiselin covers some of these trends on Instagram (not a promo post!), and I recommend checking out her content, it's quite brilliant.
Taobao You can buy anything on taobao. Literally. I saw someone selling a house there. I was previously a little shocked to see animals such as cats and bunnies being sold, but after seeing houses and cars being sold I honestly don't know what else is there to surprise me with.
Prepare in advance (foodwise) for the lunar new year During those 8-12ish days during the holdiays a lot of stores were closed. The convenience store outside my campus was open thank God, because otherwise I would have been living on instant porridge and instant soup which was my main food source 2 weeks prior due to being ill and there is only so much instant oatmeal that you can eat before slightly losing it.
Being ill is a nightmare And I mean the mandatory-bed-rest-no-going-out-for-at-least-5-days ill kind. You need to go to the hospital or a clinic to get a note to give to your school otherwise the day's you're absent will be counted, and once they reach a specific percentage you won't be allowed to take the exam (which can seriously mess with your grades, even more if you're there as an exchange student).
The weather can change at the blink of an eye I remember back in December the weather was in the negative digits and then suddenly the next day it was around 20 celcius?? The very next day it went to 3-4, and even now in March it's very all over the place. The weather forecast is not that useful because I'll leave the dorms wearing my coat in the morning only to return carrying my coat, jumper, long-sleeved shirt and wearing only my t-shirt.
More affordable beauty products I saw some products go for around $80 online?? And here on Taobao they cost under $10? I'm assuming it's the shipping costs that drive up the price so drastically, and now I'm pondering whether it would be cheaper to order online or to travel to China every couple of years just to stock up on beauty products.

Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles
Tumblr media
[ID: Banner of the game Yonder. It shows an illustrated scene of a farm. In the foreground, a brown-haired player character and a small red fox are napping next to a big fluffy brown animal with huge horns. In the background are two wooden animal pens with red roofs and a pair of the same horned animal, on adult and a young one. The sky is blue and the grass green and dotted with flowers. The game logo is mostly golden, with the O being an illustration of big blue round sails. End ID]
I want to put this whole review under the fact that I bought this game on sale for less than 5 Euro. There will be a lot of bitching, and many things I would not accept with the non-sale price, but it was cheaper than a pizza and kept me busy for over 25 hours (though I admit, I am not the fastest, so I think <20h is realistic).
In Yonder, you are trying to find out about your past when your ship sinks and you end up stranded on an island threatened by the murk - some kind of dark fog blocking areas. Only you can see and befriend the small creatures called sprites which you need to clear the murk, progress the story, and finally discover the (very surprising! :o not) truth about your past.
On your way to do so, you have to gather resources, barter for goods, tame animals, catch fish, and discover secrets.
Tumblr media
[ID: Screenshot of the game. The player character is overlooking a vast landscape with a huge mountain in the far background, surrounded by a pink forest. Trees closer to the player are green instead, and the landscape sports many cliffs and an ocean on the right side of the picutre. The sky is mostly blue, with a few pinkish-white clouds. Some kind of whale-shaped animal is floating in the distance between the clouds. End ID]
The positives:
Save whenever, good autosaves, multiple save slots.
Customize character with hair and eye colors, but also body shapes! Yay.
Lots of clothes to discover as well.
Cute animals to tame <3
If you have 2 of the same animal on a farm, there will be a third, baby version, it's so adorable.
Very relaxed, stress free gameplay. No combat, no death, drowning ports you back up on land.
The quest log is very detailed and works as a marker on the map, too.
Tons of things to discover, and very clear progression indicators.
I really liked the lighting in this game. Beautiful sunrises <3
Two modes of fast travel - from farm to farm for a (small) cost, and from one sage stone to any of the others once their quest is cleared.
Big inventory, early unlocked stash.
Some beautiful, diverse biomes.
Keyboard controls can be rebound.
Plays perfectly on the steam deck.
Tumblr media
[ID: Another screenshot. The player character is gliding over a purple forest while hanging onto a rainbow colored umbrella. Underneath the character is a settlement with purple buildings, what looks to be an observatory and a giant planet model. The landscape in the distance is covered in fog and tinted with warm sunlight. End ID]
The neutral:
Short, lackluster story. This is not a game I bought for the story.
Farming is very basic. There's 4 different crops, a couple different animals to tame, and you can plant trees, which only give you the same wood you can find all over the place. It's not a farming game, though, so whatever.
The foxes are adorable but don't give anything unique. Some produce items that are harder to get, which is nice.
The game is a bit inconsistent whether a quest will use up your items or not. All the clothes you have to find for the scarecrow you get to keep, while other items get used up.
Hell, you can BUY tools, even though you get every single on for free and they cannot break, get lost, or get dropped. Why tf? I played the whole game having 2 sickles, unable to get rid of one of them.
Crafting is an over complicated, horrible UI, convoluted mess. Why is this in neutral?
Because you can buy pretty much everything. You can break rocks for days and then spend several minutes crafting ever increasing intermediate steps to get a bunch of stone pillars and arches - or you return for a few days and just buy them.
There is no money, so you barter with goods matching prices, which is a bit annoying. I ended up paying everything with potatoes and grass.
With a bit of patience and luck, you can even buy every fish, and it counts for the fishing collection, which, thank you, fishing is annoying.
Very short ingame calendar; a year is 30 days, so each season only lasts 7-8 days.
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot of the game's crafting menu. It shows available recipes for the profession Constructor, with things such as stone arches and pillars, farm buildings made from stone, various metal ingots, and a set of profession specific clothes. End ID]
The negatives:
(Aka things that made me want to throw my deck at the wall.)
Jumping sucks. If you're standing wrong against a rock, jumping will make you jump back instead of up, which might lead to you falling off things. Luckily, very little jumping is actually required.
You can't select a hairstyle when creating the char, you find them all over the place. Default hair is ugly af. If I hadn't found a cute one pretty soon, it would have been WAY less fun staring at an ugly blob of polygons for 20 hours.
Similarly, you get some basic hair colors and can unlock super fancy ones in the game. Now why is this negative? Because not all default colors exist as shampoo, and I was so happy to find a perfect hair color when making my char, which I would have never gotten back, so I couldn't use any shampoo :(
The. Sounds. This game has some of the most grating, repetitive, ear-bleeding sounds I have ever had the displeasure of encountering in a game. Usually, I would turn off sounds nothing much lost, but:
The. Cats. There is a quest to find 55 cats in this game, and the only way to find them is to have sounds on, because they mew very loudly when you get close - or, I guess, seeing a blob of tiny pixels hidden away between rocks and trees 55 times.
Speaking of the cats. Some of them only appear at certain times, like winter, spring and summer nights, or even summer sunrise. In my opinion, this makes finding them without the wiki tedious; perhaps possible, definitely not worth it.
The only good point about the cats is that there's more cats in the game than you need, so there is a chance you find enough of one breed on your own.
Day/night cycle from 6am-6pm and vice versa, with no way to skip time. Which means for half of the game time, it's annoyingly dark. Makes it extremely hard to see anything, hey, at least you get a lantern. Which bugged once leaving me with a pitch black screen. Its just not fun. It would have been fine if nights weren't 12 hours long.
I would have turned my screen brighter, but days are extremely bright in comparison - even after turning down bloom.
Thunderstorms, especially at night. They just flash the whole screen white in irregular intervals, it's horrible. Once or twice, I had to put the deck down and wait until they were over. Luckily, they were rare.
Tumblr media
[ID: A screenshot of the game, showing the player character in front of one of the sage stones; a giant face made out of stone, mouth wide open, mouth and eyes glowing brightly. It's sitting on an uphill slope on a snowy mountain with a huge cliff face to the left. End ID]
There were a few minor bugs; the aforementioned missing lamp during one night, I somehow completed a quest twice and got two badges, and the UI for board quests if you talk to the quest giver NPC without the items present is so bad I consider it a bug. Nothing gamebreaking.
Why do I still recommend it? Well, it was fun. Mostly. It was a real "couldn't put it down" game for a week or two, just one more quest, one more creature. It was less fun to have the game running for 2 real life hours waiting for next winter because I was missing one single cat and had nothing else left to do.
It's also a game I will happily uninstall and never touch again now that I 100% it, which, honestly, is nice, I have enough games to return to. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a way to hide the interface for better screenshots (though you can try to catch the split second before opening inventory or compass.)
If you like low-stakes, cozy games, this one might be for you - but on sale. If you're sensitive to flashing lights, beware of the thunderstorms.

Misadventures in American Public Transit #4: The Airplane
If the Wright Brothers could see the state of commercial aviation today, they never would have invented the airplane. Prove me wrong.
Obviously I'm exaggerating. But there are serious flaws with American air travel that high speed rail all the more essential.
The TSA: at best, they slow you down, make you take off your shoes, unpack and repack your laptop, and generally be a nuisance. Then there's the times that they want to pat you down. I cringed at the sight of their screens, after I passed through the full body scanner, which showed an anomaly in my genital area. They patted me down last time I flew. It's billions of dollars totally wasted.
2. Planing and Deplaning: I never understood why a perk of spending more money for your ticket was to board the plane earlier. I don't give a shit if I'm the first person on or the last person. The plane will not take off until everybody has boarded. Boarding first means you have more time to sit in those cramped airplane seats. It is notoriously slow to file in and out of an airplane, and needlessly so.
People like CPG Grey love to overcomplicate things, theorizing optimal mathematical algorithms for boarding when true solutions are right in front of our faces.
youtube
So how can boarding actually be made better? Goddamn it, do it like trains. No mathematical formula for boarding would beat these two suggestions. 1) Stop assigning seats ahead of time. You claim your seat by sitting in it. 2) Have multiple doors for boarding. Shoving hundreds of people in through a single door has always been madness. Trains can board and deboard masses in seconds. It's long past time for planes to do the same.
3. The Idiocy of airline pricing: I'm not even talking about all the extra fees associated with flying. Everybody knows how annoying that is. What I'm talking about is a pricing model that would make an economist's head spin. What I'm talking about is this.
Tumblr media
See this? This is a google price graph (Generated Feb. 21) of the cost to fly from New York to San Francisco on June 1. Why does the price dip? You have to be a psychic to play the airline pricing game. Price go up, price go down. Buy the Dip! Oops. you missed it, you have to pay more now. I don't like this. I want straightforward incentives to help me know when to buy. Amtrak for contrast, prices tickets lower, and raises prices as tickets are sold. I can buy a train ticket not worrying that I'm wasting money by not waiting for the dip.
So intrepid consumers try to save cash. They notice something weird. Sometimes, it is literally cheaper to buy a ticket to a far away place with a layover in a closer place than just to buy a ticket to the nearer place directly. It confounds common sense and is not how the world is supposed to work, according to economics. Don't believe me? Here's an example. (Prices checked on Feb. 21st)
Tumblr media
On July 1st Delta flight 528 from Los Angeles to Atlanta costs $249. Or does it?
Tumblr media
If you want to fly from Los Angeles to Fort Meyers FL, with a layover in Atlanta, it costs $144. Same airline. Same day. And same fucking flight. The first leg of the journey is provided by our old friend Delta flight 528.
So enterprising travelers start skiplagging. (cough cough search https://skiplagged.com/) They simply exit the airport at the layover airport, getting the correct price for a flight which was clearly mispriced. Surely, airline CEO's see this, and immediately fix their obtuse, opaque, and incredibly frustrating pricing system. Surely, airlines don't want to have a system in place which rewards people for buying seats they don't need, depriving travelers who do need them. Right?
Tumblr media
But if you guessed they were going to be giant dicks about it, bonus points for you. Because we live in the worst timeline, they have decided to contractually enforce this insanity. It is a violation of the terms of service for most major airlines to skiplag. Take a look at this gem from Delta.
"Delta prohibits ticketing practices intended to circumvent the published fare that Delta intends to offer for your true itinerary. These practices include:.. 3) Hidden City/Point Beyond Ticketing - The purchase or usage of a fare from a point before the passenger's actual origin or to a point beyond the passenger's actual destination."
Imagine going to law school, thinking you're going to make the world a better place, only to sell out to commercial airlines and have to write shit like this to make the world a worse place.
Tumblr media
(I hope the lawyers got paid a lot of money). I'm calling on congress to enact legislation to prohibit airlines from punishing customers for skiplagging.
We would not accept these shenanigans anywhere else. Can you imagine if at the grocery store, buying 10 oranges was cheaper than buying 5, but buying 11 was more expensive again? Can you imagine if to get into the store, you were required to wait in line while security guards with a better retirement plan than you made you take off your shoes, and funneled you in, one by one, through a single entrance, and assigned you a part of the store rather than let you pick where you started shopping? Nobody would accept this. Air travel can and be should be better. Much Better.
In Conclusion:
Plane bad, train good

To Sleep - Expiration Date Runners-up
A deathly but still somehow congratulatory silence for our runners-up this week: @izzet-always-r-versus-u, @nine-effing-hells, and @yd12k!
Temporal Displacement - @izzet-always-r-versus-u Gotta say that 'Old Age' is not a cause of death I expected to see this week, nor would I have expected to find it so compelling, but here we are, with some assistance from time-travel shenanigans. I will not lie, it did take me a couple reads to figure out that you could, actually, use this to flicker your own stuff, without any concerns about adverse aging, and I do very much appreciate the flexibility that grants the card. I am a little afraid that it might be a bit too above rate as a result, though, given that they've done enough flicker at 2 mana that having it also double as a removal spell feels a little aggressive, cost-wise. Absolutely adore the flavor text though. Nice and snappy, doesn't feel like it needs to explain much more what is happening, I'm a fan.
Fall Into the Gears - @nine-effing-hells This week is gonna be a lot of me fawning over flavor text if I'm being honest. So please do not be surprised when I say Good Lord How Many People Have Fallen Into the Gears Already, Someone Call Fantasy OSHA, Please. Absolutely adore that flavor text. The name leaves no room for interpretation as to the cause of death, and you've done a delightful job of using the italics to paint in a bit of detail about the world this is set in (namely, that it is Unsafe, which I suppose is true of most Magic settings, but very few of those involve workplace hazards, so it balances I think). All that said, I do think it could use a bit more love mechanically. Tapping an artifact to grind something to death is lovely and all, but the amount of setup required to make this sorcery-speed two mana removal spell work in the first place feels a bit high to me. Certainly, mana-value-scaling cards like this can get a little crazy, but that craziness feels very much constrained already by the fact that this cannot go face, so I do think you could've maybe gotten away with making this a little cheaper, or at the very least given it a base amount of damage and have the size of the artifact be a nice lil bonus, maybe a little like Welding Sparks. Falling into gears is still gonna hurt even if they're stationary, I figure.
Erase Identity - @yd12k I appreciate this approach of ego death as a form of actual death, because in a setting like this, where we have so many necromancers everywhere reanimating corpses like it's nothing, constraining the concept of dying to endless dirt naps does not make much sense to me. Might as well get metaphorical with it. As for the literal, I'm a very big fan of what this card is doing mechanically, stripping a creature of just about everything that makes it it, but if I must pick nits I have to say that the mana cost does concern me slightly. If the format is heavily focused on playing Creatures Of Size for Size’s Sake, then this thing at three mana rather than, like, four, is gonna be absolutely brutal, whereas in more enters-the-battlefield-value focused environments, I think you're right about where you want this to be cost-wise. Unsure, honestly. I have seen this compared to a Fiend Hunter but I don't think I need to explain to you how threatening Fiend Hunter is when it's potentially a three-mana 6/6. Compare Duplicant, which, while subject to the Generic Mana Tax, is I think a reasonable comparison point for how to price something this swingy. Regardless, this card is lovely and I adore the flavor and mechanical direction you've taken this concept. Well done.

Days Off
"...but all I ever took away from therapy was a somewhat clearer understanding of how messed up I was." - John Moe, The Hilarious World of Depression
Tumblr media
I had expectations for my days off. The work week didn't end badly, even though a co worker of mine left a nasty taste in my mouth after speaking poorly about my work ethic to another co worker. The work load was easy and I was able to get a lot of reading done.
The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls has me triggered and infuriated. I won't spoil books here but when I say the parents have me feeling some type of way...smh. Its been a great read though and I can safely say my oldest is also my literary twin.
I haven't mentioned her yet but I made a new friend here in Nantucket, she works with me currently and has been such a godsend for me. I'm not even sure she realizes how vital her taking me under her wing has been. For my first day off I woke up early with an optimistic attitude and ready to get things done. The front desk was finally having someone come fix the heater after days of freezing at night - while he was fixing I planned to go to the store to grab laundry necessities and food for the upcoming week. I would return and go to the gym, update my blog and get some studying done.
Ten AM came and went with no maintenance man in sight so I called the front desk and asked them if I needed to be here while he fixed it, they said no. I was only slightly annoyed that I was beginning my day later than I had planned but, shxt happens and I still had the whole day ahead of me so no big deal - nothing is fucked.
The prices out here are crazy and every grab off the shelves made me sick thinking about the total cost going up. Shockingly, the laundry items were cheaper than I expected and I was grateful for it. Typically, I don't purchase items like that at grocery stores, as the cost is much higher.
When I returned, the heater was fixed and I filled up my mini fridge. Things were moving swimmingly until I realized I did not have a working battery for one of my devices. I managed to find a store with a cheap one thankfully - but there those dollar signs were again. I do want to clarify that I am not in a pinching pennies situation, however, as a government employee, the shutdown would effect my paycheck and to make sure all will continue being taken care of, I've been extra cautious about spending.
Unfortunately, all of this pushed into what would have been my gym time and I moved onto the next items on the list that I needed to take care of. I cracked open a black berry cider, made some turkey sliders and popped open my work laptop to finish enrolling myself and my kiddos onto my insurance.
There it was, an email stating I owe a very unexpected amount to the travel card issued by work. I gathered all of the statement/payment records and the notebook where I keep track of all my purchases and payments.
**Side note - there's a store in Boston called Muji and it was like stationary heaven to me. Other writers get it. Pens, planners, and these notebooks that hit like butter to my brain and I just cannot get enough. I have about a dozen of their notebooks, I would have more but I gifted my children and a couple friends with one their own. Giving the gift of a space for their thoughts <3 Just to reiterate, Muji, in Boston, chefs kiss.
**continuing..
I realized that when I made the discovery of these notebooks, I transferred over my bills/finances from old spiral notebook of lesser quality. Best decision ever, or so I thought. Normally I make sure to copy all the past entries so that I have no need to refer back to the old books but for whatever reason I did not do that this time. I was shxt out of luck and I was not going to be able to cross check my records with theirs. Its fine, I assured myself, just another change in plans today, I am going to audit the bit myself from day one, starting from May 24th. The new notebook begins in August so I figured, easy peezy. All is well, nothing is fxcked and I'll figure it out.
I finished out May and June expenses and prepared myself to compare mine to theirs - except, when I went to do so, I see that the earliest payment was in early July and I paid a couple hundred short of the actual amount I should have paid. There it was, the beginning of my spiral.
What did I do? How did I miss that many expenses when I reviewed them in June? How could I be that stupid? This is basic fxcking math - you fuxcking idiot. There you going being the cause of your bullshxt again. What were you thinking?! I can only imagine what the rest of the months look like. You probably owe the whole amount and more you fxcking idiot. How do you expect to make the next move for the kids if you can't even get your fxcking math right?! Math they could do. You call yourself a mother. You're just one fxck up after the other. It sickening the way they deserve better and they ended up with you.
Writing this out is troublesome because I sound really mean to myself. Sounds like a lot but in that moment, the glimmer of light I had began the day with was gone and I was once again the worthless waste of space again that can't do anything right.
I made a payment towards the card, closed my laptop, shut the lights off and turned on a random movie on Netflix. I sank into my bed telling myself it was okay and I'd be able to figure this out, Afterall, I've been through much worse than this, right? The gentle voice that I'd been working on was backed into a corner, the winds from the spiral holding her down. Numbers and images of the kids swirling around, slapping her around and making sure she stayed down, quiet. No, you don't get to talk yourself up for this one, stupid. So fxcking undeserving. You have one job and you're failing.
The movie came and went, unamused, I clicked play for the next distraction to begin. Didn't make it to the gym, didn't read, didn't blog... more than half my day gone, wasted. It brought me even lower. A few silent tears made their way to my pillow case, in those moments I focused even harder on the movies. This shapeless, colorless, invisible feeling was pulling me down deeper and deeper.
A knock at the door came, it was my new friend. She said she wanted to check on me before going to her room. I hadn't mentioned to her how I was feeling but in that moment, it didn't matter how she knew, I was being pulled back up for air and I wasn't going to fight it. I explained a little bit about the email and my discovery. She said, "you hungry?" I said yes and she gave me 30 minutes to get ready.
Dinner was nice, we spoke about football and the food in front of us. We remained present in that moment and that allowed my gentler self to get up and say it once more, it's going to be okay.
Depression doesn't work that way though, does it? As the book calls us "saddies", y'all get it, the saddies get it.
I played trivia with my babies until I couldn't see my phone screen straight anymore and then I fell asleep, hard. I'm not sure what startled me up this morning but I knew it was going to be a day of convincing myself to get out of bed. Don't worry, I made it out - lucky for me, feeling my body fat rolling around in bed is enough to disgust myself and I got up to prep for the gym. But first, my coffee.
While sipping on my coffee and scrolling through the social scene, I ran into memory lane. A video of my oldest saying good bye to her little brother, it was the first day of kinder. From behind the camera, I ask her if she's going to miss her brother - its quick and easy to miss, but I spotted it just then. A breath in, glossy eyed and a clenched jaw you can barely see because her cheeks are so round, a breath out, she nods and says "yeah". Her little brother looks to her with puckered fish lips for a kiss and they say good bye. The video ends there but the memory continues to play out...hand in hand, we begin walking towards her classroom. I ask her if she's ready, her expression scrunches into her serious face and her hand goes a little tighter. "Yes." she says it with conviction. I ask her if she's nervous, the scrunch gets tighter, so does her little hand. "No." I said okay, and gave promises of a fun day. I knew she was nervous, I could see the battle being fought in her eyes. She fought hard to keep that courage on her face and I wasn't going to let her know that I knew it was all a facade. I would never let her know that she didn't really succeed in hiding her fears, she needed to know she won that battle so that she would feel ready to take on what was up ahead. I held my own tears back that day because I needed her to know that I knew she had everything she needed to win that day. My tears would singlehandedly ensure that we would both lose the inner battles.
There was no gym today. I gave myself some grace and rested from the battle I have been fighting for so long. The wars that go for years hit different you know? My babies are strong for me, and I have to be too, for them. So this entry is serving as evidence I did SOMETHING today, even if it was more for healing purposes than productivity.

Hi, as an experienced FS attendee what places/categories you suggest to buy for the GPF? It’s pricey for sure like platinum is out of my wallet reach but I can make other sacrifices.. YOLO right?😅
Platinum Plus seats definitely have the best view (I sat there for practice at GP Italy 2021). So from a view perspective I would chose those especially in this arena, but like you I think it's way too expensive. I am not paying those horrendous prices.
In general what category to buy totally depends on what is important to you. It depends where you want to sit and what you are willing to do for it. Also it depends if you are able to attend the full event. If you are sure you will be there all week and be able to watch all practices, an All Event Ticket makes sense. If you can only come on one day, I would wait for single ticket release. Usually an All Event Ticket is always better because it gives you access to everything including practice sessions.
I don't want to tell you what to do, because in the end everyone has different preferences, but I tell you what I did.
I bought the cheapest All Event Tickets available with a group of friends. At the event we will see if we can find another better seat. (I did that at multiple events like the GPF 2019 and even Worlds 2022 because frankly not all seats will be occupied for multiple reasons) The disadvantage ofc is that if they control you more strictly you will sit in the worst places, but even there you are able to follow the full event just from a bit further. For me personally I prefer this option because first I am not sure if I am able to attend the full event or only Saturday and Sunday depending on my work and 2nd I'd rather have a bad seat than "throw money away" especially in this arena, because even if you have Gold or anything below you will sit opposite of the judges, you will still be rather far from the ice because the arena is designed with a 2 meter empty space between the first row and the barrier and then you are still not directly at the boards but a few meters higher up. So actually those tickets are not worth their price at all. Things that also disturb me at the arena is that seats at Gold and even Platinum won't have a back on your seats. Those seats are super uncomfortable, so a bit of "seat hopping" isn't the worst to do to make your back hurt less 😅 I really like going to Torino, because it's an easy travel from my home, but the arena is the worst I have ever been to. I wish they would have chosen a different place.
Other thing you can do if you don't want to spend too much money, lookout at different platforms like Golden Skate and Twitter if ppl are selling their tickets at discount prices. Usually you will find ppl who won't be able to attend and give away their seats. Also as single tickets will be released later maybe you buy a "better" single ticket for the event that is most important to you. For example you can buy a single ticket for the day of the Men FS in a high categorie because this is what you wish to see the most.
In any other arena I might have had some different advice for you, but in this arena I think the most important is to just be there. 😊
I hope this helps.
Fun fact: The highest categories cost even more than at the last GPF in 2019 and they invented Platinum Plus 🙈 The lower categories are a bit cheaper though.

My Pal, Have you ever read abut the new Adidas 3D Mesh Bag phony? It's been buzzing around my social circle like wildfire, and I required you to grasp all the details. The mesh is a person-of-a-type, and it provides off a textured feel that You would not get with other far more traditional products.
What seriously amazed me is how the bag is built with drainage holes and drag holes at The underside. This can be perfect for After i go ahead and take bag out for the swim or into the beach – no more worrying about getting my possessions absolutely damp. In addition, this layout lets for optimum breathability which keeps things you retail outlet from the bag shielded from the elements.
The Adidas 3D Mesh Bag also scores way earlier mentioned The remainder in other places like style and design and portability. The general search with the bag is simply terrific, and it comes in a variety of color mixtures which include to its Total charm. And despite its cumbersome look, the adjustable shoulder straps enable it to be rather effortless to hold around.
I am certain you wouldn't be surprised to realize that the price of the bag is quite steep and you can find 1,000,000 and one fakes in existence. Phony baggage generally have stitching errors, are created of lesser-high quality resources and don't search as sharp because the real ones. So, It is Certainly vital to location a phony ahead of acquire.
Fortunately, there are louis vuitton outlet a few telltale indications which can help location fakes. To start with, the bag should have the signature Adidas emblem that must have an indented lettering – sleek edges mean that it's faux. Even more, the bag must have exactly the same high-quality stitching throughout. If the fabric is easily tearable or perhaps the stitching is off, it will most unquestionably be considered a faux. Other than that, examining the tags for inconsistencies can also support establish if a bag is phony.
It can be quite a disgrace when people today test to tug 1 above an individual and go off a pretend as an primary. Thankfully, by utilizing the recommendations earlier mentioned, it really should not be tough to convey to a pretend from the actual deal.
What's so special concerning the Adidas 3D mesh bag fake would be the additional protection it provides in all climatic conditions. Rain or glow, your things is Protected and audio With this bag. Don't be concerned regarding your possessions receiving moist or maybe the factors within getting damaged due to weather conditions. The bag also doubles up as a terrific travel companion, with its adjustable straps making it easy to hold close to. These days, the marketplace is stuffed with faux bags that are Virtually indistinguishable from unique ones. They can be cheaper And do not often have guarantees. Buying a great-excellent bag for lasting use is often a lot better than going for your much less expensive alternative. All over again, having the ability to place a bogus from an unique is vital if you don't need to have ripped off. The Adidas 3D Mesh Bag is a singular bag with its slicing-edge functions – well value the value! What is actually extra, It will stay in excellent ailment For many years with a little bit common treatment.
I understand there are a lot of people to choose from that appreciate to maintain up with the newest style traits and occasionally, they don’t mind gonna terrific lengths and breaking the lender in order to get the most up-to-date ‘in’ thing. But then, the knock-off products also exist and Just about hold the very same appearances with the first variations. This continues to be taking place a short while ago While using the Adidas Bag. People have been inquiring me which one to purchase - original or faux?
Properly, To become honest, equally have their benefits and drawbacks. But I do think The ultimate way to come to a decision would be to be sure you understand what to look for when you’re out procuring. It can be often a smart idea to do your exploration before parting with your difficult-earned funds.
Now, the initial luggage have unique capabilities that considerably-out weigh All those of fakes. Initial off, these commonly come equipped with a bunch of desirable finishes for example quilting, velvet, perforation, or crocodile-pores and skin. On top of that, In addition it boasts top-quality substance top quality in comparison with fakes. And let’s not forget, it can be created by designers who've place in time and effort to craft it for appears and comfort.
Even though the genuine design and style earlier mentioned the bogus, the latter Have got a couple of advantages going for them. Namely, their rate. Naturally, it arrives at a much cheaper value than genuine. Next, provided The point that the look stays fairly precisely the same about a couple of a long time, we can easily Nearly assurance your mates won't be able to inform which bag accurately will be the ‘authentic deal’.
Following that, examining any sneaky emblems is likewise essential. Most originals Have got a brand while in the corner or print from the lining. That’s a useless giveaway, so make sure you maintain your eyes peeled. Also, look for product quantities. Often, there’ll be considered a Excess fat sequence of figures In the lining, but It's going to be appreciably absent on fakes.
Moreover, you could normally count on the provider made available from legitimate shops. The boutiques often present fantastic customer support and an exchange or return coverage just in case you alter your brain. And you also won’t discover some thing like that in a counterfeit retail outlet.
As for which one particular to obtain, the decision remains with you. As for me, I am a tremendous supporter of your originals. There is certainly the nostalgia attached and all the perform that goes toward building some thing Extraordinary. How about you?

Getting Cheap Flights When Flying Internationally
Finding a cheap flight to Seychelles from London can be hard because of needing to cross many countries, plus the distance covers thousands of miles and flight hours.
However, getting cheap flights to Baltimore from London or other locations is very much possible if you know how to do the tricks mentioned below.
By following the techniques that we will provide, you can get even business class flights to Cairns Australia for a much cheaper rate.
First, find a travel agent. They can offer really good prices for international flights as they have direct contacts and even better discounts than what you can get on the airline’s site.
This is because travel agencies have partnerships and buy tickets in bulk. Tour packages may also be offered that include a lot of services for a discounted cost.
Guaranteed, they can provide the best prices above all else.
Second, go for connecting flights. Compared to straight flights, connecting flights are typically cheaper. This does have the disadvantage, though, of needing to have good precision so that you do not miss your flight.
You would also expect to have more waiting times for your connecting flight to depart.
Another trick to get cheap flights to Memphis from London is to score tickets for off-peak seasons. Even booking two to three days before or after holidays can have a lot of difference when it comes to price.
In some cases, for barely filled planes you might be lucky and score an upgrade for free!
Many apps and sites are also capable of giving good deals for plane tickets. They will provide you with the best route, airlines to take, and flight times. They will also provide the estimated travel time so you can see if it will fit your schedule.
Of course, if you want to get cheap flights, you should consider flying economy. Economy class packages are the cheapest tickets that you could get. It also provides the least amenities so that is something that you should also consider.
Compared to getting premium economy, business class, or first class seats, flying economy will save you lots of money. But, if you value comfort and want to fly in style, or if you don’t want to be cramped, then consider upgrading but only up to what you can afford.
Don’t be afraid to go for budget airlines, too. Budget airlines can get you from one location or another without additional amenities or freebies - a basic but cheap experience in short.
If you want to fly cheaply, one thing that you can do is make using your credit cards that offer a points or rewards system. Many credit cards offer points that you can accumulate each time you make a purchase.
You can convert these points into a dollar value that you can use to slash prices off your airfare.
You can also opt to join frequent flier programs where you can get discounts and even get free flights the more times that you fly.
Another thing that you can try out is to use incognito mode when browsing for flights. There is a belief that browsing incognito, or clearing cookies, will give you a better price on airline’s sites.
Some say that this trick is not true, but if you want cheaper rates then it might be worth a shot.
These are just some very good techniques to get cheaper international flights. These tricks can work for local flights, too.
These travel hacks that you may call can save you huge money in the long run. You can put those savings as extra money during your travels, and you can even use them for your next flight!
We have tried these methods ourselves and most of them really work. If you want to travel internationally, shopping for airline air smartly is a definite must.

A season ticket was £60 last year? That seems incredible… How is that going to pay for their salaries for players and staff, facilities, travels, transfer fees?
Maybe Chelsea will abandon some fans that are only willing to watch them if it’s £5 per month, but staying there would still never get them to where they need to be. I don’t want women’s football to stay amateur or depend on the men’s team even for their fundamental costs. That’s not sustainable. The real price is set once you have interest and a market, which they seem to think they do now. Shouldn’t we just be happy that we could watch some of the best players in the world for so little money for such a long time, but not expect it to be a permanent thing?
And £120 is the season ticket this year for all 11 home games? I really don’t think that’s a crazy price at all for a working adult. It’s downright cheap. Most people spend that money every month on stuff like coffee, eating out, shopping. Of course I understand some people have very fine margins or single parents etc. But not everyone can afford a new car or a vacation either. That doesn’t make the car company or travel company lower their prices so that everyone can afford their products.
I completely agree there needs to be a way we move the womens game forward.
I said most things in my last ask but yeah it's £120 for 7 homes games not all 11. Which I think makes it so you could book the tickets for the games individually at a cheaper price. I think they just didn't think through the season tickets properly. But the actually single match tickets I think are well priced.
Completely agree £5 a game is not sustainable at all it's far too cheap.
Idk I think the season ticket part just wasn't completely thought through well and there are ways to improve. Also, Chelsea don't get the numbers Arsenal get either unfortunately so I think they need to think of a way to get pricing right (which again I think individual games are good value) while also getting more support out to the big games.

Sit By the Campfire in Comfort With These Tried-and-True Camp Chairs
New Post has been published on https://eazycamping.net/sit-by-the-campfire-in-comfort-with-these-tried-and-true-camp-chairs/
Sit By the Campfire in Comfort With These Tried-and-True Camp Chairs
When you’re camping, tailgating, or grilling in the backyard, your mission is clear: maximum relaxation. Sure, you could sit on the ground or at a hard picnic table, but with so many affordable and reliable camp chairs on the market, why would you?
Camping chairs are a fairly broad category of products, and your average outdoor retailer likely has options ranging from stool-style chairs to luxurious two-person loveseats. To help you narrow your search, we tested and evaluated all types of portable outdoor seating, from ultralight camping chairs and plush recliners to two-seaters and swings.
Best Camping Chairs
What to Consider
Durability
Durable camping chairs, which are often more costly, come with sturdy frames made of steel tubes or other metals that stand up to heavy weights, repeated folding and unfolding, and occasional moisture.
The durability of the seat materials is paramount, since a torn seat can render your chair useless. The seats should be at least partially water resistant and treated to stand up to harsh UV rays.
This can help prevent the fabric from damage and fading over long periods of use. The fabric should also be strong enough to hold significant weight—likely a rigid yet flexible woven material like the seat on our top pick, the Yeti Trailhead chair.
While more durable options are often more expensive, keep the upfront cost of the camp chair in context with its long-term durability. If the chair lasts for several years, the initial cost is well worth it in comparison to a cheaper camp chair that might tear or break after just a couple of seasons.
Think of it this way: Would you rather pay $30 every year for five years, or $110 once?
Portability
The weight, size, and general portability of a camping chair makes a major difference in how and when you can comfortably use it. Lighter, smaller options are easier to carry in your arms or on your back and work well for backpackers or anyone traveling by foot.
Heavier, larger chairs will start to weigh on you as you walk and can be far more cumbersome to store. That said, these chairs oftentimes have heavier weight limits and are more comfortable to sit in. If you are traveling by car or for short distances, you can splurge on the bigger chair.
Regardless of size, many camping chairs come with straps or carrying cases to make travel easier.
Intended Use and Additional Features
Camping chairs aren’t exclusively for camping, nor is all camping the same. If you simply want a chair to sit in for watching your kid’s soccer game or for relaxing in the backyard, you can prioritize comfort above portability.
For hikers and walk-up campers, smaller, lighter chairs are the obvious choices to keep in mind. If you’re using the chair for the beach, weather and UV resistance will help it last longer.
Many camping chairs come with added features you might want to look out for, like cupholders, storage pouches, and even zip-up cooler bags.
Camping chairs come in a variety of styles, from large and comfy models with armrests to ultralight bucket-style chairs.

How We Selected
To find the best camp chairs, we relied heavily on feedback from our testers, who vary ages, heights, and weights, and used some of these chairs in campgrounds, on backpacking trips, and at all-day sporting events around the country. We also tried out a few in-house, setting them up in the office and in Central Park to see how they felt.
We took into account the team’s likes and dislikes about the chairs we tried, as well as online reviews from past buyers. We evaluate each chair’s materials and fabrics and the brand’s reputation and warranty, both in person and based on specs. Finally, we made sure to keep price in mind, so you can find a long-lasting and comfortable chair no matter your budget.
Best Overall
YETI Trailhead Collapsible Camp Chair
Best Overall
YETI Trailhead Collapsible Camp Chair
Credit: Yeti
Pros
Incredibly comfortable and responsive fabric
High weight limit
Cons
Expensive
Key Specs
Folded size 43 × 11.75 × 9 in. Seat height 16.75 in. Weight 13.3 lb. Weight limit 500 lb.
Yeti’s Trailhead camping chair immediately stands out for how comfortable it is to sit in—and how expensive it is. Yeti uses a flexible fabric that is spread tight against the frame and accommodates your body as you sit down. That fabric is intensely durable, with a weight limit of 500 pounds—the highest of any folding chair we tested.
Beyond the comfort of the seat, the most impressive part of the Trailhead is the sturdiness of the frame. While its strength is certainly a winning feature, the locking mechanisms that keep the chair open and in perfect shape take the cake. This lock—which takes a bit of elbow grease to put into place—allows you to shift around and even set it up on uneven ground without risk of it folding back in while you’re lounging.
Tom Price
While the heaviness of this camp chair might prevent me from using it on a long journey, the carrying case with backpack straps makes it easier to take with me while keeping my arms free and shoulders comfortable. While the price means not everyone can have this camp chair, if you can swing it, it really is better than the rest.
Best Value
REI Co-op Wonderland Chair
Best Value
REI Co-op Wonderland Chair
Pros
Cup holder swivels in and out
Water repellant polyester material
Cons
Too heavy for backpacking
Key Specs
Folded size 42 x 11 x 11 in. Seat height 16 in. Weight 7 lbs. 13 oz. Weight limit 300 lb.
For a classic fold-up camping chair, the REI Co-op Wonderland stands as a great mixture of comfortable and durable. In regards to comfort, I noticed almost immediately the slight wider seat that gave me enough room to actually adjust my body around to find the right spot. The wooden arm rests also happen to feel significantly better than most made of fabric or plastic.
Tom Price
The Wonderland camping chair has a polyester fabric seat treated to be water repellent, and the steel tubing feels noticeably sturdy. While the chair is too heavy to take with you on a hike, the carry strap and lock-in clip make it easy to sling over your shoulder to and from different locations.
Best Rocker
GCI Outdoor Kickback Rocker
Best Rocker
GCI Outdoor Kickback Rocker
Pros
Easy carrying strap
Built-in rocking legs
Cons
Heavy for its size
Key Specs
Folded size 7.9 x 5.9 x 39 in. Seat height 17 in. Weight 10 lb., 8 oz. Weight limit 250 lb.
GCI has staked its claim as the king of camp comfort with its Rocker line of chairs, and the Kickback is our current favorite. Pistons on the back legs help with the rocking motion, and we found the resistance stiff enough that we wouldn’t accidentally tip the chair over backward—but not so aggressive that it felt like the Kickback was pitching us forward.
Both our 6-foot-2 and 5-foot-5 testers liked the seat height and had no problems sitting down and standing up from the chair. We also like that it has the usual cup holder and phone pocket on the armrests.
Despite that it’s a little unwieldy when carried over the shoulder, the strap didn’t dig in, though we’d still recommend using it for light activities such as car camping, backyard hangs, and picnics. Some padding in the seat and backrest would be nice, but the fabric has some slack that makes it comfortable to sit in.

Best Budget Pick
Coleman Chair with built-in cooler
Best Budget Pick
Coleman Chair with built-in cooler
Pros
Built-in cooler
Extra storage pocket
Cons
Hard to get back into stuff sack
Key Specs
Folded size ‎8.1 x 37.6 x 9.1 in. Seat height 17.5 in. Weight 8.8 lb. Weight limit 325 lb.
The fewer things you have to lug to your campsite, the better. Thanks to this affordable camp chair’s built-in insulated cooler, you can leave the kombuchas in the heavy cooler in the shade while you stash a few cans (with ice, of course) in your chair.
Cooler aside, we also like the Coleman chair’s side pocket (don’t leave those bottle tops in the woods) and cushioned backrest. The fact that the chair holds an impressive 325 pounds makes it ideal for big and tall buyers. It’s certainly not the lightest camping chair on this list, but we were still surprised with the relatively reasonable 8.5 pounds, especially considering the table attachment.
Best Chair for Lounging
Kelty Deluxe Lounge Chair
Best Chair for Lounging
Kelty Deluxe Lounge Chair
Pros
Comfortable no matter your posture
Large cupholders
Cons
Rolls rather than folds
Key Specs
Folded size 39.5 x 9 x 9 in. Seat height 19 in. Weight 10 lb., 4 oz. Weight Limit 325 lb.
Another favorite among our testers, the Deluxe has a wide and broad sitting area that doesn’t pinch or press into your hamstrings, shoulders, or hips. The steel supports are also large and the feet are widely spaced, giving the entire chair a stable, confident feel.
The steel frame allowed our testers to use the reclining back confidently and lounge in the chair at just about any angle. The adjustable cup holders accommodate anything from a soda can to a beer growler (yes, you can have up to 64 ounces of beer in your cup holder).
It’s so comfortable that one tester remarked, “My wife, who is six months pregnant, was happy to spend half a day at a bike race as long as she got to use the chair.” That La-Z-Boy level of comfort makes this an excellent option for car camping and RV use.
Best Lightweight
Helinox Chair Zero Large
Best Lightweight
Helinox Chair Zero Large
Pros
Lightweight build
Packs into a very small space
Cons
Lacks back or neck support
Key Specs
Folded dimensions 14 x 4.5 x 4 in. Seat height 8.5 in. Weight 1lb, 6 oz. Weight limit 320 lb.
The Helinox Chair Zero L isn’t inexpensive, but that’s probably because it’s made with high-quality, ultralight materials. The camping chair weighs just over one pound, but the aluminum frame can hold up to 265 pounds.
It also packs down small enough to strap to the side or top of your hiking backpack for overnight adventures, and the shock cord woven through the poles ensures a quick and easy assembly if you arrive at camp in the dark. Both our shorter testers found it comfortable, though our 6-foot-1 tester with longer legs reported that his knees felt a little too close to his chest when sitting.
For most people, the biggest downside is likely the low back height. Still, it’s a reasonable trade-off if you’re working toward shedding weight from your backpacking setup but aren’t keen to sit on the ground all night.
Best Swinging
Rio Gear Rio Swinging Hammock Lounger
Best Swinging
Rio Gear Rio Swinging Hammock Lounger
Pros
Swinging functionality
Tall back with headrest
Cons
Seat height may have some legs off the ground
Key Specs
Folded dimensions 36 x 8 x 8 in. Seat height 19 in. Weight 11 lb. Weight limit 300 lb.
Swinging chairs aren’t just for chilling on your front porch. They’re ideal for buyers who experience back or butt pain when sitting in one spot for too long. Because the chair swings, it’s easy to adjust your seating position or rest your feet on a nearby cooler or bench. It also allows the chair to automatically balance your weight if you tuck a leg under your body or lean a bit forward, which can cause stationary chairs to tip.
Usually, swinging chairs have more pieces and parts than a standard chair, but the Rio foldable hammock chair manages to stay minimal in both weight and size. While it’s too heavy for backpacking, it’s a reasonable size and weight for slinging over your shoulder to walk from the parking lot to the sidelines or throwing in a wagon for beach days.
The flatpack style of chair doesn’t lend itself well to extreme portability. That being said, if you’re mostly car camping out of your truck or driving to a friend’s BBQ, you’ll love the extra size and support these chairs offer. We especially like the Infinity zero gravity chair, which reclines nearly flat if you’d rather stare at the clouds than at your fellow campers. Fortunately, you can lock it into position to ensure against unexpected tipping, and the head- and footrests extend far enough in both directions to support taller users.
Our testers didn’t have any ongoing gripes with this chair, though one complained of feeling a crossbar under the seat. The chair distributes weight quite well, and we never felt off-balance while reclining. However, we did find it quite awkward to get out of the chair while reclined, so be sure to put it back into the upright position before getting up.
If you’re one of those people on the fence about buying a generic folding chair, don’t be. The Marchway high-back chair has stellar reviews and weighs in at 3.5 pounds, making it usable (though not ideal) for easy backpacking.
The tall back provides enough support for our 6-foot-plus tester, and the carrying case can double as a head or low-back pillow with some clothing stuffed in (though it doesn’t attach to the chair).
The Marchway High-Back Camping Chair is very similar to the far pricier (but also well-loved) Helinox Sunset chair, though this one comes with the bonus of rounded arm flaps. While they don’t provide support, they do add a bit of padding, so your arms aren’t digging into the sides of the fabric.
Do a quick online search for director chair-style camp chairs and you’ll see that most options look relatively similar. They also have the same downside, which is a general lack of portability. They fold just like a movie director’s chair—hence the name—but usually don’t pack down vertically.
That’s why we’re keen on the SunnyFeel camp chair, which packs into the size of a (slightly heavy) tote bag and comes with a storage sack. Unlike other similar camp chairs, you can sling the SunnyFeel over your shoulder rather than awkwardly carrying it just above the ground. But like similar products, it has features like a pop-up table, cup holder, padded backrest, and a large side panel with multiple pockets.
Best Wooden Chair
Trippy Outdoor Dreamer Chair
Best Wooden Chair
Trippy Outdoor Dreamer Chair
Pros
Easy two-piece design
Easy to carry and store flat
Cons
Not very comfortable
Key Specs
Folded size 45 x 11 x 4 in Seat height 11 in. Weight 10 lb. Weight limit 1000 lb.
Certainly an unorthodox approach to camping chairs, the Trippy Outdoors Dreamer is the option for those who need flat storage (or to feel a little bit like a hipster). Despite the weight, I could easily hold it in one hand as I walked, though it may be more difficult for longer journeys.

That said, the actual assembly and subsequent storage process for the camping chair is incredibly easy. Sliding the wooden plank it makes an instant seat and storing the seat plank on the back makes for a flat chair you can put in the trunk of a compact car.
The chair itself isn’t the most comfortable option—the seat height feels a little low and the back plank and seat lack any cushioning. The two-piece construction also makes the chair feel a bit wobbly when leaning from side to side. The chair looks to shine the most at the beach, where you can dig the wood into the sand, and the aesthetic is a perfect match.

PM: How heavy is too heavy for a backpacking chair?
S.D.: If you’re planning on backpacking—hiking to your campsite while carrying all your supplies in a pack—you’ll want to keep your camping chair as lightweight as possible. Serious backpackers covering long distances or significant elevation gains won’t want to add more than two pounds or so to their packs. But if you’re only hiking a few miles across mostly flat terrain (or just using a walk-in campsite at a park), you can probably add a camping chair in the 3- to 4-pound range, especially if your other gear is light or you’re splitting supplies between packs.
PM: Is it okay to buy a budget camping chair?
S.D.: It’s absolutely fine to buy an inexpensive chair! In general, the differences between pricier chairs and less expensive chairs come down to production methods and locations, materials (sustainable vs. new plastics, for example), and brand names and warranties. If you plan on using your camping chair primarily for backyard grilling or occasional camping, don’t worry about the brand too much. But if you’re a frequent car camper or need a chair you can carry back and forth to soccer games all year, it may be worth spending a bit more for higher-end materials. And, of course, if you care about sustainable materials and production methods, it may be worth spending a little more to show your support for more eco-friendly products.
PM: What features are most important in a camping chair?
S.D.: That comes down to personal preference, but I like having a cup holder as well as some type of structure, rather than a bucket-style seat. I find that one-piece seat panels, like the one in the Helinox Chair Zero, are far less comfortable (the trade-off, of course, is that they’re far more portable). I also don’t bother with footrests, as there’s usually a cooler or backpack nearby I can prop my feet on. Padding on a chair is nice but can be replicated by sitting on a puffy jacket or small blanket if needed.

Housing and anxiety vent INCOMING
We’re driving to MS tomorrow and I do not wanna gooooo.  I haven’t seen my mom since February so I’m def due for a visit but it’s an 8-hour drive and I’ll be doing it with my awful-to-travel-with sister and I am just absolutely miserable at the prospect.  I’ve decided that I’m going to drive the first stretch through Atlanta because I hate the my sis drives in Atlanta traffic, not to mention that they are a slow riser and will complain about being tired and having to drive the ENTIRE TIME.  No seriously, this happens without fail if they drive the first stretch.  Shut the fuck up already!
Also: I fucked up when I chose not to renew my lease because starting next month, we are getting cost of living raises and I COULD have afforded the rent hike if I’d known that was gonna happen!  But I didn’t renew and they’ve found a new tenant for my spot so now I have about 55 days to find myself a new place to live.  I reached out to my ideal punk communal spot months ago and they said they’d “add [me] to the list” but I haven’t heard anything since then.  Otherwise the only sure thing I have housing-wise is an offer from a friend to live with her.  I adore her but her life is extremely chaotic right now and it gives me major anxiety to think of how it would affect my quality of life to be near that chaos.  I’m thinking of noisiness in the house, guests at random times (she’s always inviting people over randomly), her cats (she has 3 and I’m allergic), and how messy her kitchen is right now.  I just.  I’m so nervous.
I did this to myself for sure, but it sucks that I haven’t found anything else just yet.  One rental company must have figured out I’m Black because they’ve stopped responding to my inquiries about a dreamy lil duplex in my ideal neighborhood.  Everything is priced for college students and not for the working locals who keep this stupid fucking city afloat, and we’re literally getting priced out of town.  It’s happening everywhere in the US but I’m honestly shocked to see it happening so much here.  I honestly want to put a curse on them or something, do something to cool off all this hype around this university and make things cheaper.  I don’t even believe in curses but most people do, and the psychological effect alone of knowing someone cursed them would have an impact for sure.
Yes I’m still in the homebuying program but that’s also at a standstill.  They’re understaffed and not really paying attention to me right now, plus there aren’t any available homes to buy right now so I’ll have to have one built.  That prospect is absolutely terrifying.
