St Thereses little way and small kindnesses shape the world and make it go round etc etc etc
Yes that is ALL true and I don't discount it but ALSO have you considered I ALSO want the Big Grand Kindnesses and Great Works and Gestures
Not just for the drama. Not for the recognition, I generally hate to be noticed. But for the competency. The satisfaction. The possibility that I CAN. Surely there is this ambition and drive for a reason. Surely I am incredibly hungry and yet have no concrete selfish tangible dreams, just a Grand Desire for The Good in some great manifestation, surely for a reason. A meaning. A purpose.
I want it. More than comfort and kindness and love I want this. The deepest hunger of my existence. The reason for my existence.
I don't think I've mentioned it much, but IMNDY Raph definitely gets into wearing makeup and dressing up after he goes back in time. It gives him a sense of control over his life that he desperately needs (because it turns out that being thrown into the past and completely separated from everyone you've ever known when you already have issues regarding separation isn't really a good thing).
Me: I love how unrepentantly nasty Surge and Starline are, the tension between the two is great and how Starline pretends to be fatherly but doesn’t actually care-
Also me: okay but... evil adoptive family AU,
I’m calling this the Platyfam AU, information under the cut
So the main difference in this AU is that Surge and Kit keep their memories from before they were “upgraded”. They were made orphans and their home was destroyed by one of the many villains that Sonic hasn’t finished off (I’m thinking Zavok/the Deadly Six, maybe). Both of them are angry that Sonic just doesn’t kill these people, they got a lot of hatred for the hedgehog, basically they want to take him down so they can do his job better. Starline finds the pair while Surge is ranting to Kit about how she wishes she was stronger so she could “put that stupid hedgehog is his place”. So the doc offers them a deal: more power and a shot at Sonic (and anyone else that isn’t Eggman) and they work for him in return. They agree.
It starts off where they think they’re just using one another, but the three slowly begin to actually care about each other, much to their equal dismay. Surge slips and calls him “dad” a several times whereas Kit just straight up asks Starline if he can call him dad now.
Meanwhile Starline doesn’t know what to do about these mushy feelings he’s developing towards his weapons experiments, it wasn’t part of his plan, he isn’t supposed to get upset when they’re hurt.
