Him going on the roof oh my god... The creature of chaos is tired, let him sit on the roof; do not question him. Also just walking away when stressed? I would say that's a good response if it wasn't a school setting.

Demophon has mastered the art of sneaking out of class during tests (he literally just walks out). His favorite place to decompress is the tallest part of the school's roof, where nobody can reach him. He has pretty bad testing anxiety (perfectionism is a bitch) so even if he doesn't leave during a test, he'll probably end up on the roof afterward.

Not Quite Hidden AU: part 5. Word Count: 450. Readers chose: Leo's Point of View.

Leo is curious about a lot of things, like how vegetables are made, where Critter Crackers come from, and if he’ll grow hair like his dad’s.  But right now, he’s curious about a person.

“Didja see the goat guy we met today?  He was super tall!” Leo asks the cashier, a fishy looking lady, as she slowly adds up the total for their items.  They didn’t get a lot today because Dad wants to make sure that it isn’t too much for the five of them to carry home, but it’s still taking her so long.  

“Uh-huh.”  She sticks her pen in her mouth for a second, glancing over the numbers she’s written down on a notepad.  “We get dozens of people in here hourly, kid, I don’t pay attention to every freaking one.”

Leo wrinkles his nose.  “But this guy was weird.”  He acted almost like their neighbor across the hall of their apartment building, the lady who talks to him and his brothers sometimes if they see each other in the stairwells.  Close to a stranger, but not quite.  Like he knew them from somewhere.  But Leo would remember a guy like that, he’s the best at remembering faces, and that makes it a mystery!

The cashier scrawls at the bottom of the page and hands it to Dad.  “Whatever, kid.  Sir, here’s your total.”

Donnie peers over the sheet from Dad’s side.  “Toldja it’d be that much, Dad,” he whispers.  Donnie always keeps track of the total and does the math in his head as they shop, but that’s too boring for Leo.  And Donnie’s the faster adder anyway, and by a lot, so they can’t even make a race out of it.

“He had gold horns, and his face was all blue!  Not the blue I like the most, though,” Leo continues loudly.  Being louder usually makes adults listen when they aren’t paying him enough attention.

The cashier finally glances in his direction.  “Wait, the guy’s wearing a mask?  Sweet, Baron Draxum always tips crazy good.  Hope it’s really him.”

Splinter pins his ears and huffs as he pulls out his wallet and counts out the right number of coins.  “I would recognize him anywhere.  Even at a grocery store, unfortunately.  But I have no idea how he… oh, Purple, does this amount look right to you?”

Donnie nods.

“Yeah, that’s what he said his name was, Barry Draxum!”  Leo echos importantly, but by then Dad is already pulling their groceries out of the cart they used and handing them out for carrying home.  Huh, it seems like Dad isn’t responding.  Maybe he doesn’t know anything?

Well, Leo’s got to en-vest-a-gate his mystery somehow.  But how?

The student protests for Palestine have been an amazing show of solidarity and support and seeing thr way that so many young people are willing to stand up for their values is admirable when so many others stay silent. But this is all to say that we are entering a pattern of glorifying these white “martyrs” from the global west to put all of this effort and resources and media coverage into instead of the actual cause they are fighting for.

I saw the same thing happen with Aaron Bushnell, when his self immolation was being talked about more than the actual genocide in Gaza (which went against everything he said he was self immolating for in the first place).

And again this happened with the prisoner from the US who worked 136 hours just to be able to donate his $17 check to Palestine aid efforts. In response to this, people wanted to help him and ended up raising over $100,000 in a gofundme for him. This feels almost satirical, as every gofundme to help Gazans evacuate Palestine and get to safety has a goal of less than $100,000 and most of them are not even close to reaching it.

And now, there are more and more posts on how to get aid to the college student encampments, and the “urgency” of getting enough bail funds for the students who have been arrested during them. Talking about Palestine itself and getting resources to Palestine has almost been put on the back burner in favour of making all Palestine related news about college students in the United States.

It think it is valuable to recognise the selflessness and importance of these protests, and getting these students resources but what is MORE important, and what these people are truly fighting for, and protesting, and make a statement about is PALESTINE. We have unsurprisingly reached the point where there are people who care much more about the white people fighting for the cause from the comfort of living in the global west than they care about the Palestinians undergoing a genocide in Gaza. It’s become almost blatant racism, the way people begin to drop everything the second a white/usamerican person does something in regards to helping Palestine, but will not put the same effort into a Palestinian IN Gaza who is telling their story or asking for help. I respect anyone who has done absolutely anything to help Palestine, but I hope people are starting to see the pattern of how the media gravitates towards the “white saviour/perfect martyr” instead of the first hand accounts coming from those in Gaza.

I still think that my favorite urban legend/folklore fact is that there are certain areas in New Orleans where you cannot get a taxi late at night not because it isn’t safe, but because taxi companies have had recurring problems of picking up ghosts in those areas who are not aware that they are dead and disappearing from the cab before reaching the destination and therefore stiffing the driver on the fare causing a loss for the company.

thinking about my ocs is so funny. there's a couple (king and queen of a fantasy city state type thingy) who are in an arranged marriage and absolutely never fell in love but still end up being better rulers than they would have been otherwise. he's a social butterfly and she brings throwing knives to parties. at the beginning of their relationship she killed an assassin who came for him and that's when he decided that the relationship would work out actually. he is both a happy go lucky guy and scary good at reading and understanding people, to the point that he can predict their wants and needs with relative ease and act accordingly, but he really really doesn't want to think that he could manipulate people. she could name and explain every single law the city has. he would die for her. she would (and has) killed for him.

neither of them is the main character.
