Light flooded your room briefly, but it disappeared as your door clicked shut softly. You sat up in bed a little and rubbed your tired eyes, trying to see in the darkness of your room.
“Neil?” You hoped it was him… You parents aren’t home for another two days so you’re in trouble if it’s not.
“It’s me.” He said quietly, walking closer until he was standing by the side of your bed. “I just… I had a nightmare and I couldn’t sleep.” You frowned at that.
“I’m sorry… Do you want to sleep in here?” Your voice was still laced with sleepiness.
“If you don’t mind.” He said sheepishly. You scooched over to the other side of the bed and lifted the covers for him. “Did I wake you?” He asked, once he was all settled.
“I was only half asleep.” You shrugged, then yawned at the reminder of how tired you were. He was quiet for a while and your eyes became too heavy to keep open once again.
“Can we cuddle? I still can’t sleep.” You mumbled out an agreement. “Turn over.” You didn’t respond and just turned onto your other side, letting him slide in behind you. He wrapped his arm over your torso and pulled your back flush with his front.
“G’night.” You murmured, placing your hand over his on your stomach.
“Night.” He said quietly. You smiled and snuggled into him a little more when he kissed the back of your head.
You’ve done this once or twice before, usually you have a bad dream though. You just feel so safe and comfortable in his arms. Neil told you that your cuddle sessions had to stay a secret, which you didn’t understand but you agreed anyway, just wanting to make him happy.
You were dozing off again and you could kind of register his hand rubbing up and down your side, relaxing you. His fingertips were under your shirt on your bare skin and when he brushed your side boob, you groaned out a protest and he shushed you.
“I’m just trying to sleep.” He explained, then cupped your breast and squeezed gently.
“Neil…” You mumbled.
“Don’t you want me to fall back asleep?” Of course you do, that’s why he’s laying here right now, but you don’t want him to do this. He gently rolled your nipple between his fingers, making you moan quietly. When his hand traveled back down your stomach, you relaxed again. His fingers teased the waistband of your panties, making you groan and bring a lazy hand down to bat him away. He wasn’t deterred though.
He slipped his hand beneath the fabric and cupped your sex, letting out a heavy breath as you whined and tried to pull his hand away. He just shushed you and started rubbing his fingers up and down your slit, spreading your arousal. He slipped a finger inside and you whimpered at the new feeling.
“Fuck you’re so tight.” He whispered, breath fanning the back of your neck. “Are you a virgin? Were you saving yourself for your big brother?” He chuckled, making you mumble out a weak protest. “Shh. Just go back to sleep.” He said quietly.
He pushed a second finger in and started curling them against your walls, pressing the heel of his hand against your clit. When he groaned and bucked his hips, you suddenly noticed that he was hard.
“Neil… stop.” You whined.
“I’m not doing anything.” He chuckled.
“Y-you’re touching me.” You were frowning now.
“No I’m not. You’re just dreaming, silly girl.” Are you? It feels real. But you’re also so tired that it’s hard to tell. He slipped a third finger inside and you let out a whimper of discomfort, not used to the stretch— not used to any stretch.
“Hurts, Neil.”
“Shh. You can take it. You’re just dreaming, baby.” His hips started rutting into you with more purpose now. When he pulled his hand away, you breathed a sigh of relief, but it was cut short by him freeing his length, then pulling your panties to the side. You could feel his cock brushing your folds, getting ready.
It’s not real.
He applied some pressure and you whimpered as you brought a hand back to weakly push his hips away.
It’s just a dream.
It took even more force before he was finally able to breach your opening, making you cry out.
It’s just a dream. It’s just a dream. It’s just a dream.
It felt real though. Your eyes were watering from the burn and you started crying silently.
“Neil, no.” You whimpered. Without responding, he grabbed your leg and lifted it up a bit to have easier access. He didn’t push in all the way, or give you a second to adjust. He just started slowly rocking his hips, letting out quiet groans. “Please, stop.” Your words slurred together now, almost incoherent because of the mixture of sleepiness and the way you were moaning in pain.
“Shh. Just take it.” He whispered, moving a little faster. “Be a good little sister and take your big brother's cock.” He gruffed, ignoring your crying. He started fucking you harder and deeper, chasing his orgasm and relishing in your little whimpers and the way you squeezed his cock so tight that you almost forced him out.
“Fuck… Are you always this easy? Or is it just because you’re half asleep.” He chuckled, lifting your leg up more.
“Neil..” You cried. “Stop it… Please stop it, Neil.” He wasn’t listening. All he could hear was you begging and crying for him, and unfortunately for you, the fact that you were begging and crying for him to stop only turned him on more.
“Shit— You’re gonna make me come.” He was panting now. Heavy breaths fanned your neck as he bucked into you wildly, getting closer to his release. “You gonna be a good little sis and take my come?” You shook your head and babbled out senseless protests, making him laugh quietly.
“Beg. Beg me not to fill you— not to knock you up.” You let out a choked sob and his hips moved more frantically.
“Please don’t… Neil, please don’t.” You cried.
“Fuck— just like that.” He groaned. “Keep begging and maybe I’ll listen.”
“Please don’t— don’t… come in me.” You whimpered. You weren’t used to saying that word with this meaning and it made you blush. “Please, Neil… I don’t wanna get pregnant.” It was getting harder to speak through the sobbing.
“Oh fuck… More.”
“Neil, please! Please stop already— it hurts.”
“Does it? Is my cock too big for your little pussy?” All you could do was let out a strangled whimper. “That just means we’ll have to do this more often so I can break you in.”
“No— no please. Not again.” You were babbling out pleas and protests, all of it incoherent through the crying though.
“Fuck I’m gonna come.” He choked out.
“Pull out! Please pull out, Neil!” His hips snapped into you harder and faster until he buried himself to the hilt inside you with a low groan. You could feel heat filling you up and it caused a new wave of tears. “Neil…” You sobbed, making him moan louder. Each time he bucked his hips into you, it forced out a quiet whimper because of the intensity of the thrust.
“Shit…” He breathed, panting heavily as he lowered your leg back down. Your crying slowed a little, but it felt like you were close to hyperventilating with the way you were gasping in breaths between each sob.
“I- I’m gonna tell mom and dad…” You whimpered, not sure what else you could do. But it was already done. Maybe it would keep this from happening again though. He let out a low chuckle and wrapped his arm around you again, holding you close with his softening cock still inside you.
“No you’re not.” You tried not to let your fear show from his tone. “If I even think that you plan on telling them, I’ll go to them first. Tell them that you got yourself knocked up by some random guy. With your hysteria, we’ll see who they believe.” He scoffed.
“…Neil.” You sobbed out, your crying picking back up again.
“I know— It’s okay…” He placed a gentle kiss on the back of your head. “I'm gonna teach you a lot. Gonna make you into the perfect little sister.”

Part 6 of A Rocky Start - Full Masterlist Here
-☠️-
In the days after your little run in with König at the gym, things had been tense with the guys. So much so that until you could find time for a ‘covert’ date, you’d tried to avoid him like the plague. Of course that meant that he was open to attack from the rest of your team, but you figured, what harm could they really do? Well as it turned out, after finally lifting your self imposed ban, he’d said they’d been on him like bloodhounds.
Apparently there was no limit they would reach to defend your honour, not that it needed defending in the first place (but you couldn’t tell them that). After a mixture of the guys trying to warn him, threaten him, jump out at him, knock his tea off of the counter and throw his food in the bin, they’d made it difficult for König to do much of anything around base. Your mind had buzzed in a near constant state of anxiety, waiting to see what they’d do next.
Luckily for your frayed nerves and König’s safety however, they stopped being as harsh to him as time went on. In only a couple weeks in fact, they’d stopped attempting to jump him and threaten him away from you, and instead took to glaring at him and giving him what you called the ‘school girl treatment’. Sure, bitching about him and saying they couldn’t wait to put Ex Nihilo in the ground once and for all so they could flush out KorTac wasn’t particularly helpful for team morale, but it meant that you didn’t need to worry about your lover getting shanked anymore.
If you were being honest, you couldn’t help but feel he deserved it a little given it had been his bright idea to rile you up in the first place. That’s what you get for trying to show off in front of Ghost. However that didn’t mean you didn’t still worry for him, far from it. You were practically biting your tongue off whenever König would happen across your path.
“Didn’t anyone tell you the love of your life aint in your chain of command Soap?”
“Oh shut the fuck up!”
You snorted as Soap shot you a glare. He’d momentarily distracted himself from pinning Ghost only to end up rolled over and under the heavy frame of the Lieutenant - who he’d only just managed to hold down himself. His body landed on the ground with a thundering crash, and at the very same time he let out a small ‘oof’ you held your hands at your mouth and tried to hold back on the stream of laughter threatening to burst out. Not that that was any use, you were breaking in no time, squealing like a kid. Served him right for getting cocky. He’d been leaning hard into Ghost, his eyes level and lips caught in a ridiculous smirk.
“Looks like the next rounds on you again, Johnny boy!” Ghost chuckled, releasing Soap before he snapped something.
“No! No, no, no, I call bullshit on that,” Soap huffed, jumping to his feet like a jack in the box. “The only reason you won was because that little dick couldn’t keep their mouth shut.”
Your fellow sergeant held an accusing finger up at you, his face going pink in anger. Sore loser. You gasped in mock offence then proceeded to shoot him your best puppy eyes and shrugged, perfecting a show of innocence that would make an angel weep.
“Me?”
“Yes you! Love of your life’s not in your chain of command’,” he echoed, pitching your words up like a little girl. “Fuck off!”
“I don’t sound like that,” you sniggered, watching as his face got redder. “Don’t be a sore loser Soap.”
Soap hit the mat just shy of his thigh, pounding it as if it were a way to wage revenge, working himself up as you and Ghost continued to laugh like hyenas.
Ghost eventually joined your side, he picked up the water bottle he’d abandoned by his workout gear and took a long gulp, huffing as he lowered the bottle back down. Ghost’s breathing was laboured and you could smell the sharp stench of sweat coming off of him in waves, apparently even with your intervention, that hadn’t been an easy victory. You knew that well enough yourself, you were only barely able to beat him sometimes, he’d earned his nickname just as much as you’d merited yours.
“I almost had the bastard this time!” Soap huffed, slumping. “If it hadn’t a’ been for you.”
“Well, if it makes you feel better I’ll pay for it,” you offered, rising to your feet. “Given you both go get a shower, you guys fuckin’ stink.”
Soap smirked at that, his eyes regaining their lost spark as if he’d been given a jumpstart. You didn’t care for it.
“Really? I don’t think I smell too bad,” Soap said, his voice taking on an edge again. “C’mere, let me make you really pay for it!”
“Wait, what are you- ew! No! Get away from me!”
You squealed as Soap made a dash for you and hopped out the way from his grabbing arms, jumping away like a scared cricket. Unfortunately he was blocking the exit, forcing you into the corner of the room, keeping you on the edge of your toes while he held his arms up, torturing you with the threat of a hug. It took everything in you to keep track of where the mats were and not to slip on the shiny wooden floors, squeaking with every step you took as you frantically traversed the hall.
“It’s just like you said Sneaky, can’t fraternise outside my rank. Guess that just leaves you!” He laughed, making another unsuccessful lunge at you.
“I’m sure Gaz…is around here somewhere,” you said, breathing hard as you continued to duck and dive from him.
Despite Mactavish’s best efforts, you still managed to elude him. When he leapt for you, you strafed away and even when he’d successfully grab your arm, you’d break his hold before he could wrap you in his stinking death grip.
You were so close to the exit now. You’d danced your way there, too busy walking backwards and throwing Soap off of your intentions that you were taken unawares when you backed into something solid where an empty doorway should’ve been. It was only when two familiar big hands drew round your frame to steady you, that you realised exactly who you’d bumped into.
“Careful Sergeant,” König said, his voice surely thick with a grin. “I see training in the 141 is as rigorous as ever.”
You sigh, taking a cautious look over at Ghost who has his eyes locked on the offensive figure behind you. Even as Ghost stood there smelling like week old laundry he’d acted as if König had dragged putrid roadkill into the room and asked him to take a bite.
“You wanna test how good our training is, König?” Soap barked, puffing his chest out like a cartoon gorilla.
You rolled your eyes.
“No thank you, I’m afraid I’d get terribly bored.”
“Funny,” Ghost said plainly, tilting his head. “Maybe we could find out how interesting you find us once you let go of Sneak. Could make sure those dirty mitts don’t linger too long again.”
You could feel his fingers dig into your skin, and with just a cursory glance up to the slits in König’s mask, you knew he hadn’t been meaning to clutch onto you for so long. Though, even in your haste to be subtle you didn’t miss the wink he gave you when he let you go, or the way his fingers brushed against you like falling silk. Clearly someone had been missing you. Probably as much as you’d missed him.
“Apologies,” he’d said, not able to resist whispering after, “lucky for him he doesn’t know where these ‘mitts’ were last weekend.”
You choked on your next breath and turned so that your back was to the others before they could see your haunted expression. König was becoming a master of landing you in the shit. Even as you tried to glare at him, your paranoid mind wondered if they could see your body buzzing with worry.
“Why are you here, König?” you asked, voice shaking with a hundred different emotions.
Even under the darkness of his full hood, König’s eyes sparkled with mischief and you didn’t miss the playful raise of his brows. He was continuing to wage war on you, even when you giving him the ‘stop fucking with me’ look. He was going to hear about that later.
“Curiously enough, Price sent me. He wanted me to tell you to come to his office.”
Everyone’s breaths were collectively stolen from the room.
“Price? Price asked you to talk to Sneak for him?” Soap said dubiously, first to ask before anyone else could.
You were too busy wondering if he’d figured something out.
“Funny isn’t it?” König said, his gaze squarely fixed on you. “He was in a rush to sort something and unfortunately for him, I was the only one around. I think you’re being sent off on a mission.”
You didn’t miss the way his voice dropped in disappointment. If you were going away with Price then it was anyone’s guess how long you’d be away for. Last time he’d spirited away with Gaz he’d disappeared for days, and come back afterwards sagging like a melted ice cream. Whatever you’d be doing, it’d likely tire you out just as much and even if you were to come back through the weekend you’d likely be beat just the same. With that in mind, you knew it was unlikely you’d get to carry out your fun weekend plans with König. That meant it’d be a whole week’s wait until you got to meet with him again.
Fuck.
“Oh…thanks for letting me know.”
“Of course. Can’t ignore an order from the Captain.”
The ‘unfortunately’ didn’t have to be said, it hung in the air between you two like black clouds of smoke. It took everything in you to ignore him from then on, turning instead to your things and stuffing them into your pockets. Your ears burned as they traced his footsteps fading from the doorway, and your chest grew heavy knowing you’d be missing him like hell until you could see him again.
“Fancy that, Price going against his own orders,” Ghost said, folding his bulging arms over his chest.
Always looking for a fight.
“Fuck, probably didn’t even ask that cunt. The thing probably ate the guy that was actually supposed to come get Sneak,” Soap sniggered, finally emerging from his huff.
Oh yeah, they’d taken to calling König names now as well. They particularly enjoyed comparing him to a horrific bug monster which, even as childish as that was, was a little entertaining to you given you knew how much he hated that particular film when you’d tried to show it to him. He didn’t care for monster flicks.
“I don’t think he’d lie,” you shrugged, trying to diffuse the situation.
“Really? I think he’d stab his own mother just to get a giggle,” Ghost snorted.
Clearly you don't know him very well. You laughed even in spite of knowing that what your Lieutenant said wasn’t remotely true, maybe even because you knew how ridiculous it was. They had a lot of fun making him out to be a raging sadist when as far as they were aware he’d done no worse than them on the field. König would stab himself before a hair on his mothers head came to harm, he practically gave half his wage just to make sure she ate well every month.
“Maybe. Even so, I better go see what Price wants. Must be deadly urgent if he was desperate enough to send König,” you said, heading back toward the exit.
“True. Sure you don’t want a reassuring hug before you go?” Soap asked, making a move like he’d come bounding up to you.
“Nope! Not even if this is the job I die on,” you called, speed walking down the corridor before he got any bright ideas.
-☠️-
Just as König had said, you ended up pulled away with Price on reconnaissance. Now, while you’d much rather have been curled up in a hotel room with König and living out your lazy weekend plans, it turned out being away wasn’t all that bad. For one thing, Price was practically his old self with you again and for another it was good to get away from the rest of the 141.
Constantly having to listen to them verbally disassemble the man that you were secretly in love with was a lot and it took everything not to sit there and defend him sometimes. Even then that would just result in an uproar about how you let people treat you. At that point you’d take Price’s steady quiet presence and occasional rumbles about coffee and football anyday.
“You seeing anything Sneaky?”
Price’s hushed voice crackled over your comms, the tiny earpiece was flooding with interference from the busy market. Crowds of people swarmed and overflowing stalls that were bursting with goods, with salesmen boasting about their produce and wares like it was the last day on earth to buy anything. The heat beat down on your back and your outfit did little to help with the glaring sun, one of the pitfalls of wearing baggy clothing to conceal weapons. Your scent mingled with the rest of the sweltering bodies that bumped your sides and moved around you, but most of all you scented the rich foods and the old antiques that filled the stalls. Your senses were going wild, overstimulated to the max.
“Not a fuckin’ thing,” you finally muttered.
You’d been sent out to intercept a meeting between two Ex Nihlio members, according to intel gathered from KorTac earlier in the week they were supposed to meet by one of the spice stalls. It was your job to route them out and figure out if they knew anything about Rousseau’s whereabouts. Only issue was that you were drowning in spice stalls. Both you and Price had taken turns dressing up like tourists with your big nikon cameras and neon bags and were playing a game of spot the terrorist cell with only a prayer that you hadn’t already missed them.
Price was taking his turn up on the roof, nestled conveniently in a skillion like a bird of prey about to strike, watching and waiting with his binoculars up and gun at the ready. You felt safe knowing he was with you, his mumbled words of reassurance kept you sane as you traversed the labyrinthian pathways over and over and had to pretend to take an interest in various trinkets.
However, you’d been on the streets for a couple hours now, you knew that soon enough you’d have to swap again and it’d be your turn to play sniper on the roof. That was - If your aching feet were anything to go by. You sighed and took a look around, deciding to do one last sweep around the stalls before you joined Price and relieved him of his position.
“Hold on Sneak, turn around - don’t be obvious,” Price said, voice coming in low and grizzled from disuse.
You froze in your spot and swallowed, committing yourself to your new task, taking a moment to look through your pockets before palming a warm penny. With a fake gasp, you sent it rolling behind you and leaned down, walking a few paces so that you could retrieve the penny off the ground while looking around for the source of Price’s interruption. When you looked up to the row of stalls across from you, you saw what he’d tipped you off on.
“Try to get in close.”
Situated next to an array of autumn coloured spice piles, were two men wearing dark shirts and trousers, talking hushedly to one another. While you couldn’t be absolutely sure that they were Ex Nihlio, you knew that it didn’t look like they were there to shop. You glanced away from them for a moment and set your sights on a curio stall next to them, stepping almost silently over the gritty path until you reached your target.
Their voices were low, coming in softer than a light breeze, but still you managed to catch a little of what they were saying and you knew the receiver would too. You tilted your head toward them, trying to give Price the best chance of hearing them too; all while you picked up a tiny bird figure barely bigger than one of your digits and held it to your eyes. You softly ran your fingers over the wood like you might bring it to life somehow and turned it this way and that, inspecting it carefully - it was important to make your fascination with the object look convincing.
“Your orders are clear, you are not allowed to move forward.”
“But we have everything in place, we’re ready! I don’t understand.”
The men were tense, their voices strained as they endeavoured to stay quiet.
“We have to be more reserved now. Ever since…he was taken and the tourists were found, things have been different. Plan’s changed.”
“What! because his-”
“Quiet! Not another word. This visit in itself was a courtesy only extended to you, we’ve had to stop everything we had planned, things have changed.”
“I don’t accept that. We have to keep the momentum going or we won’t be taken seriously.”
You breathed out quietly, watching as the stall owner started approaching you and you let a smile melt onto your face, trying to keep up the dumb tourist charade. The woman looked keen as she approached, face reminiscent of a fox’s with her eager golden eyes and high cheekbones. Her lips were curved into a grin and she hunched over the counter tactically surveying her eyes over your form. She was probably anticipating someone stupid, someone that could be easily fleeced.
“It’s a nice statue isn’t it? Are you interested in buying?”
“Uh, yeah I think so, it’s really cute,” you said with a short unsure laugh, trying to keep your voice low enough for Price to hear over. “How much is it though?”
Regrettably for her you weren’t going to be the easy mark that she’d assessed you as. Nevertheless, you still hoped to god she wasn’t going to ask for too much. You’d figured before setting out that you needed to buy some stuff so that you could blend in, but you hadn’t brought an awful lot and you’d already gotten some pastries and drink with the paltry change. Plus the little swallow, for all its tiny size, was very detailed, it’s little carved tail and wing feathers and dark wood would surely drive the cost up. Then there was also the fact that there was no way you’d be able to just accept the given price, you’d have to negotiate so that you had a reason for sticking around.
While you desperately strained to try and hear the argument ensuing between the two men next to you, you weakly haggled with the woman giving her numbers that her lips upturned like a direly unamused theatre mask. Eventually though you both reached an agreement and the little figure was yours, but now you had to work out your next move.
“‘We are from nothing, and we will fight each day until they can never reduce our names to the dirt again’- remember when that was our calling? Remember when we committed to a cause that day, does that mean nothing to you? We must act now!”
“It must mean nothing to you, if you are willing to risk everything just for a moment of glory.”
You didn’t have to struggle to blend in much longer.
A loud shot rang out above the swathes of people around you and suddenly the entire market descended into chaos and terror, people ran and screamed and hid; fleeing like pigeons. You looked over to where the two men had been and saw only one now as he rushed away into the crowd while the other lay dead and bloody on the ground. The man’s pupils were tiny pin pricks staring emptily into the glaring sun, all life torn from the deserted vessel of his body. He’d gone back to nothing after all.
“Price, I'm going after him.”
You tore your eyes from the dead man and chased after his killer, trying desperately to catch up as he faded into the crowds. You weaved and ducked, trying to remain discreet even still as you traced his path and took advantage of the wake he left in the crowd. He was like a speedboat tearing through choppy seas, disgruntled people were pushed to the side and made to move as he bulldozed through and gave you plenty of opportunity to follow.
“You need to stop, Sneak. We don’t know if he has friends hiding around the area! Do you hear me? Stop! Sneak, how copy?”
Price was too late. You’d collided with the man already, strategically shoving him into an alleyway and underneath your body. You both breathed hard, groaning as your knees and his back made contact with the hard ground, but neither of you could afford to feel it for long. He fought his way up, reaching for a knife he’d stowed in a thigh pocket and attempted to plunge it into you before you disarmed him, smashing his wrist against the wall and pounding it with your other.
“I got him pinned down, we’re in the alley a few streets up, he’s fighting back pretty hard,” you growled, thoroughly out of breath from trying to subdue the squirming screaming man.
“That’s not what I ordered!”
“Well what are my orders now?” you asked, gritting your teeth as you punched the man, narrowly missing being hit first.
Price didn’t speak for a beat, the silence was tense as you fought to subdue your target, filled with your gasping breaths and struggling bodies scraping against the grit like sandpaper. You could practically feel the steam that was pouring from Price’s ears coming in through the earpiece, sweat was pooling all over your body, exertion and heat were kicking in. After a moment, your captain finally responded through gritted teeth, his voice crackling all the more as you realised that he was on the move.
“Coming to you now. Hold him there.”
Easier said than done. You felt like a bull rider as you bucked around on top of the stranger trying to subdue his movements with as little force as possible. While it was important to make sure he was kept down and kept quiet, you couldn’t do too much damage or it was worthless even stopping him in the first place. Clearly this man was in contact with Rousseau or at least someone very close to him, so it was of the utmost importance that you brought him in lucid and ready to spill. Or rather spill after some convincing, the look in his eye was that of a man that wouldn’t give you any satisfaction for nothing.
His teeth were bared at you like an animal, one of them metallic and glinting in the sliver of light that emerged through the darkness. His eyes were wild like a feral lion. There was something about his face that terrified you in that moment, the sheer determination to kill you, the will of a man with conviction in his cause to tear you down. You had the upper hand though, finally you’d been able to reach the pistol you’d secreted away at your side and pulled it on him, holding it against him with a soundless ultimatum.
“Get the fuck off me! I’ll have your eyes for this, fucking scum!”
The man ranted and screamed, but even still you weren’t deterred from your task. You kept him pinned down with the gun snug at his temple, praying that Price would be there soon. Luck wasn’t on your side that day though, rarely ever was, suddenly you were sailing onto your back. Stars filled your vision, light melting as the sky faded far away. It was somewhat reminiscent of what you’d seen happen days before, Ghost on top of Soap after his failed victory, Soap stuck to the ground like a monkey under a tigers paw.
“Are you alright?” a voice asked.
Someone that you didn’t recognise, an accent you couldn’t place.
“I’ll be fine! Finish them off and let’s go,” your target responded.
You winced, expecting that to be your final moment, the last thing you ever heard was a dismissal of your efforts. Through the murky darkness two eyes flashed through your head, two crystalline pools that opened like planets in the empty space of your mind. In your mind, König looked back on you smiling, his watchful gaze always reminding you of an angel while he loomed over you, bare chested and warm just like he’d been at the hotel.
Had that been your last though you would’ve died happy, you decided.
Though you weren’t going to die that day, not yet. Another gunshot blasted through the atmosphere, ricocheting in your ears, but as you were still around to hear it and you weren't lying there in blinding pain - well not any more than you’d felt before the gun fired - you deduced the man had missed. Instead another man’s scream rang out and a flurry of footprints followed, scraping to get away.
You opened your eyes, finally able to see again, but felt blinding pain replace your stolen vision. It coursed through your skull and rattled through your back, making you hiss as you sat up and stradied yourself on your scraped up hands. Colours and shapes swelled and swirled before your eyes before condensing and becoming clear. Price took form in front of you seconds later, his hands tight on your shoulders as he grabbed you and gave you a look over, running his hand gently over your head as if you were his child.
“What the fuck did I tell you?” he muttered, eyes narrowing harshly as he realised you were ok. “You had no idea who else was there and wouldn’t you know it - who should show up, but one of his little friends”
“I…I already had him before you said to let him go,” you groaned, blinking furiously as you tried not to let the darkness at the edge of your vision take over.
“Is that right? Well, well done to you and your fucking initiative,” he groaned, “Look at you, you look like you’re going to fall apart. Are you ok, can you see?”
“Feels like it too,” you said, smiling weakly. “I can see, things just got hazy for a second there…Did you send the rest of the team after them?”
Price rolled his eyes, the bags under them looking pinched as he kept looking you over. Another group of soldiers had been kept on standby, ready to swoop in and drive you and whoever you might capture, but it didn’t look like Price was thinking of them then. He was focused on you, kneeling across from you and surveying for any changes. He let go of your shoulders, instead propping you up against an old crate that sat abandoned in the alley.
“Course I sent them,” he said eventually. “Don’t think they’ll catch up though.”
“Fuck,” you hissed, feeling the full weight of the blow to your head.
“How bad’s the wound?” you asked, wincing as your fingers came away from it with blood.
“Not bad. Not good either though,” Price deadpanned. “I’ll walk you out of here in a minute. I just want to make sure you’re going to stay awake.”
“Walk? You mean we can’t call an Uber?”
Price didn’t see the funny side of your joke, he shook his head and ran a hand through his beard, taking extra time to scratch as he reached the thicker sides. He was deep in thought, trying to process what had happened, and work out where to go from there. There was a look in his eyes he always got when he was catastrophizing, and you could tell he was in full crisis mode. His steady hands and stiff posture only served to throw off people that didn’t know him well enough.
“What is it?”
“Two of em’ have seen your face now.”
You had already thought of that.
“I know,” you said quietly, finally looking away from him.
Neither of you said anything else for a second. You focused in on the crowd behind you instead, the people that still rushed through the streets trying to avoid a silent threat that had already run far from their paths. Their voices and scampering feet echoed and danced through the alleyway, distracting you from your pain for a moment. Thought still coursed through you in the background, remained swirling through your body like a snake constricting around your brain and back.
“We need to get you out of here and get you to a medic.”
You nodded, you wouldn’t fight him on that. A medic would have pain killers. You tried to rise on your own, gripping the rough wooden crate like a lifeline, but found yourself almost collapsing again until Price rushed to your side and held you up, grunting as he bore your weight. Through the vignette of your fading vision you could see the tight lipped grimace he was giving you and knew you were probably sporting a similar look of your own.
“Don’t try to move on your own, let me help you,” Price growled.
“You gonna carry me all the way back to car?” you asked sceptically, remembering how far you had to go.
“Can’t bloody well leave you. We don’t know if that bastard’s got more friends hanging around.”
“You could stick me in another alley and bring the car closer?” you asked, already knowing what his answer would be,
“Not a chance. C’mon, get moving those feet. That’s an order!”
Stubborn.
You grit your teeth and felt the pain shoot through your back and curl up in your stomach as you moved. You knew you hadn’t broken anything, but you were still feeling the effects of getting winded and the weeping head wound wasn’t helping matters either. Bile rose in your throat at the thought and even as Price kept his arm slung tightly round you, you felt your feet waver and drag across the ground, felt your mind struggling to keep going as your body began to give up.
“Talk to me. Don’t give out on me now,” Price demanded, his breaths coming out punchy like wind hitting a sail.
“Talk about what?” you laughed, wincing with the movement.
“Anything. Keep yourself focused, talk about anything.”
“Ok,” you conceded, thinking for a moment as you were dragged through an empty street. “Why’d you send König to come get me the other day?”
“Really? That’s all you could think of?” Price scoffed.
You were in too much pain to feel any shame or hesitation about pushing. In fact, it was the perfect time to bring up König because there weren’t going to be many other chances for you to leverage a head wound to discuss the subject. It was the perfect thing to direct your energy on and keep you upright.
“You’re the one that told me I wasn’t to speak to him again,” you said measuredly. “It made me wonder why you’d send him to speak to me.”
“He was the only one around and the General wanted us gone ASAP.”
“You could’ve messaged.”
“I needed to make sure you knew to come right away.”
“Are you saying I’m not reliable?” you grinned, almost tripping on a fallen basket because you were so pleased with yourself.
You and Price stopped just before your feet could stumble over the fallen produce and rerouted around it, huffing with exertion. Price’s back was sweating just as much as yours and once again you found yourself cursing at the sun, vowing that you would never spend another minute more in the heat if it meant you could be sent to a cold room with a full deck of meds ready at your disposal.
“If you really want to know, I figured I could trust you now,” Price said, readjusting his grip on you. “After all that's happened.”
“Oh really?”
“Well you wouldn’t want to go near him now after what happened would you?”
You had to hold back a bout of laughter, disguising it easily with a cough. If only he knew.
“Suppose not,” you answered.
“It’s better that way…associating with a man like that, you’d only end up at the top of someone’s shit list.”
“You think he’s got enemies?”
“Why else do men like Ghost and König wear masks?” he huffed. “You’d be vulnerable with him, even if he is a one man army. He couldn't protect you if the people he’d pissed off came after you.”
You pursed your lips and looked toward the end of the street, sighing as you remembered the car wasn’t that far away. The last thing you needed when you were trying not to go wobbly was Price making you doubt König. Instead you faced forward and kept on marching, narrowing your eyes as you fought off the darkness.
-☠️-
“Are you absolutely sure that you like wearing that shirt?”
You laughed as König hovered above you, pausing in his assault on your neck so that he could play with the hem at your neckline. His hemline rather.
“You said you wanted to look after me this week, didn’t you?”
“Well yeah, but not at the expense of my only clothing,” he said, smiling at you with narrowed eyes.
You rolled your eyes at him and kissed him, planting your lips firmly on his so as to silence his protests. All was right in the world again. You’d been dismissed for a week because of your head wound, something about you having suffered from a concussion before so you were being forced to take leave and had decided to spend your time wisely. In other words, telling Price you were going to visit family, when in actuality you were shacked up in an airbnb close to the base so that König could come visit you and stay the night.
Eventually he broke away from you and shook his head, rolling off the bed and causing an earthquake, causing the springs to groan and for the mattress to shake like jelly beneath you. You watched him as he stood and stretched. His body illuminated by the streetlamps outside the windows, the dull yellow contrasting harshly with the dark blue shadows that snaked over his taut muscles, meeting like intertwined fingers at his ribs.
“Is it because it's the Rammstein one?” you asked, sitting up to admire him easier. “Because I’m taking good care of it.”
He shook his head again and made his way to the door.
“I know you’re taking good care of it. I just don’t have a lot of shirts to wear,” he explained, disappearing for a moment.
You huffed and folded your arms, obscuring the blocky logo in the tangle of your intertwined limbs. The guilt trip wasn’t going to work, this was your shirt. You felt like you’d earned it after you’d forgotten home comforts and stayed in a stranger’s house all to be with him. Not that he wasn’t taking fantastic care of you.
You watched as he came back in with a couple glasses of water and set them down on each of your respective bedside tables and disappeared again so he could grab two bowls, walking in with steam obscuring his face. You unfolded your arms, forgetting all about your upset and took in what he’d brought you. He’d heated some soup for you both and ensured that you were propped up nicely before placing yours in your lap, joining you at your side so that he could eat his. The smell of parmesan and vegetables drifted into the air, forcing your stomach to growl in anticipation.
“Thank you, König,” you hummed.
The soup was delicious. It was unmistakably from the Italian deli that König knew you liked to frequent as a treat and you’d deduced he must’ve been earlier in the day to pick up a takeaway just for you. Even if he were being a stickler about his clothes, he still remained sweet and ensured you had every little comfort you could want for while you recovered.
Truth was, you hadn’t really felt that bad once you’d been patched up and given a few Codeine. The pain in your head had dulled to a low thud and more than anything it was background noise to the host of other complaints you could make about your battle torn body. Though König wouldn’t hear of it. He demanded that you stay in bed as he fussed around you and cuddled you like a sickly kitten. It was a wonder you were allowed to even roam the apartment by yourself with the way he coddled you, a miracle you weren’t wrapped in cotton wool and shrunk into his pocket for safe keeping.
“Why is it that you’d want to wear one of my dirty shirts anyway?” König asked, breaking the silence.
You snorted, only just swallowing the spoonful of soup you’d taken and shrugged, a coy smile weaving its way onto your face.
“It smells like you. Makes me feel safe,” you said finally, only a smidge embarrassed.
“And what do I smell like?”
“I dunno…just like you,” you shrugged. “Manly I guess, and I can smell that stupid cheap citrusy soap you use.”
“Don’t belittle my soap just because you like to buy the best,” he retorted.
“That’s right, practicality over frivolity…How German,” you said with a sly smile.
He froze mid spoonful, just about to eat another before he paused and shot you a withering side eye. You’d delighted in finding out another way to tease him, getting to play with him all you wanted while you recovered.
“You call me German one more time, I’m taking the shirt off your back and leaving you naked to fend for yourself,” he said simply
“Oh c’mon, you’d never do that.”
“I just might,” he smiled, taking his last spoonful and letting the cutlery clatter to the empty bowl. “You know the difference.”
“In fairness you did live there for quite a while until you moved back again.”
“Yeah, and that's an even better reason for me to enjoy being Austrian.”
“Such a mean man, poor Germany!”
You playfully shoved at his thigh with your foot and giggled when he caught it in his hand and threw it back. It sent you both laughing and soon you abandoned your soup bowl onto the table and took your little game to the next level, diving onto him before you were promptly flipped onto your back and pinned under König, resuming your usual position.
“Poor Sneak,” he laughed ominously. “Still hellbent on defending the Germans?”
“If I say yes are you gonna do that thing I hate?”
“Only one way to know for sure.”
You huffed out a breath and weighed up your options, deciding if it was really worth being tickled just to keep teasing him. In the end, you didn’t get to decide, you winced as you felt a firework of pain burst through your head and closed your eyes for a second, bunching them shut like you could forget about it behind the darkness of your closed lids. Suddenly you were grateful you were lying down surrounded by the soft topaz sheets.
“Are you ok? Did I hurt you?” König gasped, stroking his thumb over your cheek.
“I’m alright, it wasn’t anything you did,” you assured after a second, taking in a deep breath. “I think it’s time for me to take my meds actually. Is it after eight thirty?”
König leaned up from you and rooted around for his phone. You prayed you were right.
“Yeah, Eight forty. If you sit up, I’ll get them out for you.”
You followed through with his request, inching up the covers and seething with every little jarring shake the bed gave you. It felt like your head was going to burst into a confetti cloud with the amount of pressure that was building. You couldn’t wait till the headaches were done with.
“Here, take these,” König murmured, handing you the pills and your forgotten glass of water.
You threw them back and drank down a big gulp of water, focusing on not choking as you swallowed them as fast as you could. This was one of the worst pains you’d had with it since it’d happened. Stars twinkled at the edge of your vision until slowly, after a little breathing and König stroking your back, you were able to open your eyes and stare back him as he watched you those big doleful eyes of his.
“I’m alright now, it’s ok,” you smiled, trying to reassure him.
“Mm, it’s far from ok,” König hissed, staring harshly to his side for a moment. “If I ever get my hands on those who did this to you, they’ll be sorry.”
You widened your eyes a moment as his fury sunk in and both of you stared at each other for a tense minute. You sat hoping your understanding of the situation might be infectious, wishing he’d accept that they’d just gotten the upper hand. What happened wasn’t personal. He shook his head and let the heat escape him, the fire left his eyes and deflated him, leaving him staring down at the bed a moment until you spoke again.
“I know how I’d feel if it were the other way around,” you sighed, knowing he’d need a little reassurance you weren’t going to run terrified. “But you don’t need to be angry for me. I’m fine, this’ll all be better in a few days, ok?”
He didn’t speak for a second, not until he looked back up at you.
“Ok.”
“Good. Now, c’mere and give me a hug so I feel better.”
His smile returned, curving back onto his lips like magic. You smiled in turn and watched as he put your meds back in the drawer by your bedside, but frowned when he paused and stared inside. He chucked the foil packet back in its place but reached in and retrieved whatever had caught his attention, bringing it front of you in the palm of his hand.
“What’s this?” he asked curiously.
You tilted your head and smiled as you realised it was the wooden swallow you’d unpacked from your bag earlier and shrugged.
“It was the bird I got from the market that day,” you explained. “I found it when I was going through my bag today and chucked it in the drawer.”
He raised his brows and brought the little figure closer to his face, admiring the fine details of it not dissimilarly to the way you’d stared at it in the market. You tilted your head as you watched him and bit your lip, watching the way his eyes took in the little bird with an intense fascination.
“Why don’t you keep it?” you offered. “And then you let me wear this for the rest of the week.”
You rolled your shoulders, showing that you wanted to keep the shirt. König chuckled, but after pretending to be deep in thought about it, sporting a deep frown and a pursed lip, he eventually nodded.
“I suppose I could allow that… we can have shared custody. I get the bird one week and then the shirt for the next,” he said, coming to rest by your side with his arm outstretched, making the bird fly in looping patterns in the air. “Deal?”
You laughed to yourself, but nodded, settling into his warm chest with a satisfied sigh.
“Sounds like a good deal to me.”

In The World My Demons Cultivate
“Why do you miss me?” he breathes again, your voice hitches at the thought of explaining yourself so intimately. So desperately. You won’t be able to stop him from judging you or mocking you for being so weak, and still, you do as he asks.

Does it ever stop?
“No, not really,” he answers.
You look up, seeing a familiar face, a familiar scar. One that you haven’t seen for a long, long time. It makes you laugh. You’re giggling like a little girl as you look at him. And he’s looking at you, too. A missing memory that you’ve blotted out every single day for as long as you can remember.
How old were you?
How old are you?
It doesn’t matter, you suppose. In the grand scheme of things nothing really matters to you or anyone else. You don’t matter and no one else does, either. You’re just another set of lungs tarring them with filth at the end of the day.
You quit, you did.
You really tried to quit.
But it’s the only thing that makes you stop thinking about your miserable fucking life for a few hours until you pass out and have to live it all over again. Everyday is the same. How do people live like this every single day until they die?
How do people pretend they aren’t suffering when they are?
They are.
You are.
“Can you read my mind, Toji?” you laugh.
He nods. And he notes how your eyes instantly flutter closed when he places a hand on your bare shoulder. It’s been too long since you’ve been touched.
Held.
Loved.
He knows you better than you know yourself. He’s always been like that. You’ve never been able to keep a secret because he’ll get it out of you one way or another. You’ll crack under the pressure of a stare so intense it could turn mere rock to diamonds, the power of glorious green eyes over your fragile mind.
That or you’ll tell him of your own volition.
Does he really possess the power to read your mind? Is that why you love him, so unequivocally? Through all of your faults, he’s here. Through all of his, you love him, still.
You smile.
“I wish I was dead.” you grin, but his face is stoic.
“You said that out loud.” he hisses. You mewl, and it’s gentle, as he runs his fingers through messy, unwashed hair. You’re like a cat, eyes closed and purring for him as you rest your head on his thigh. “Don’t joke about dyin’, sweetheart.”
You didn’t think he’d come, no matter how hard you wished for it. You hadn’t thought he’d show up just for you. And yet, here he is, with his back pressed against your headboard and a deep rumble in his lungs with every heavy intake of exhausted breath.
Like it’s hard.
Hard to breathe or hard to be with you, you don’t know. You don’t want to know, either. He’s here, that’s all that matters now. Things feel good again, normal.
“When did you get here?” you wonder, your voice is barely above a whisper as you speak. Eyes still closed so delicately; he can see the way your eyes are trying to explore your bedroom despite them being shut. He likes that about you, that your mind can never switch off.
But he hates it, too.
He’s not alone in that.
“I’ve been here the whole time, baby.”
Did you forget? Have you misremembered because you’re so fucking stoned? It’s possible, but unlikely. And still, you don’t question it. The warmth of his hand on the crown of your head, the pudgy but sturdy flesh of his thighs beneath your cheek are enough.
You don’t need answers, not now.
The blue light from your laptop flickers and blinds you as the same trailer that Netflix has been repeating for hours now continues to loop and loop. It should be driving you mad, but it isn’t. It’s inaudible to you, especially now.
A heartbeat fills your ears and ricochets between the four walls of your bedroom. The vociferous beating might deafen you if you don’t clear your mind of it, if you don’t speak you might succumb to the burden of it.
“I’ve missed you.” you whimper.
His hand freezes, tongue drying in his mouth before turning into sand he’ll surely choke on. He swallows, and it’s loud. A cartoonish gulp as he hears the sorrow in your words, a meek cry for help that you wouldn’t dare admit to. You couldn’t do that to him, not really, not right now.
“I know.” he sighs.
“I’m so…” you start, your voice fading away as you contemplate keeping your words to yourself. He isn’t the type to care, is he? He hasn’t missed you, anyway. Or at least he didn’t say it, which, to you, surmounts to the same conclusion.
You aren’t missed, not by him.
Neither of you speak, but his fingers resume soothing your scalp. He won’t say he’s missed you. He won’t tell you anything you want to hear; he isn’t like that.
Could it be that he can’t, rather than won’t? It’s trite, burrowing your head between each word and letter he’s spoken and hasn’t spoken. Searching for some double meaning in the words he chooses instead of just some meaning.
Any meaning.
What does it mean to find purpose or reason at a time like this?
It won’t help and it won’t change things. You’ve long accepted that things don’t change for the better. They change, things certainly change. But not for the better. Or maybe they do, for other people.
Not you.
Never you.
“You’re so loud.” he mutters, prompting you to roll over to face him. He looks down at you, it isn’t patronising. It’s generic, which might be worse. There’s no feeling with him, in him, from him. At least if he was patronising you he’d feel something for you.
He’s felt nothing for so long.
You wonder if he ever felt something for you.
“I didn’t say anything.” you tell him.
He does nothing except poke his index finger into your exposed temple, and for some reason, it urges you to smile for him. It’s been so long since you smiled because you wanted to, not because you were forced out of sheer obligation.
That’s why you don’t mind, or rather, prefer being home with nothing but Netflix trailers playing on continuous loop for hours and hours on end while you get so high you scare yourself stupid until you pass out.
It’s a disgusting habit that you can’t rid yourself of.
It’s your only comfort. Your only solace from how downright devastating and pathetic your wretched life truly is.
Nobody expects anything of you when you’re home alone.
“You think too loud,” he starts, the force of his pointed finger becomes deeper but soon leaves completely. Your skin feels colder, right after. Like losing an extra layer of clothing despite being in a warm enough room, you miss the feeling regardless. “You gotta stop.”
You shake your head, closing your eyes again.
“I can’t help it, there’s too much to think about.” you breathe.
The thought of him disappearing into the night never to be seen again, it horrifies you, and it’s at the forefront of your mind. He’s been gone for so long now, you’re sure. He lied, though you aren’t surprised in the least. He’s always been a liar that still possess the ability to have you hanging on his every word.
If you talk, you’re scared he’ll leave. Though he can hear your thoughts, or so he claims.
Again, he’s a liar. If that were true he would have left by now. If he knew how pathetic and desperate your reeling mind sounded he’d have run off and done exactly what you’re worried about him doing.
“You’re so hurt up here, baby,” he tells you, words hushed and secretive as he strokes his thumb across your forehead like you’re precious. Like you’re brittle enough to turn to dust if he applies too much strain. “Aren’t you?”
A sob leaves your throat, and you want the world to swallow you up right then. Tears begin to pour from watery eyes and soak into the material of his trousers before you even think about answering. You do, though. Because you want to, not because he’s making you. You nod, an uncomfortable beat of sniffling silence goes by before you utter a word.
“I wasn’t j-joking.” you start, “I don’t want to be here.” your voice cracks as you speak, the notion of your words and the burden on them weigh down on you enough to make you dizzy and sickly.
He shushes you, not because he wants you to stop talking, but he wants you to stop working yourself up into a nauseated stupor.
“Why?”
“Because I miss you, Toji.” you sit upright, your temperature feels like it drops below freezing when you part from him fully. He pulls you backwards, into his arms before you’re both lying side by side. His chin rests atop your head while you play with your hair, too choked up to say another word.
He doesn’t say it back, again.
But maybe him holding you like this is his way of saying it.
“I don’t know what you mean.” he tells you. His voice is quiet as he speaks into your hair, but you hear him clear enough. You want to argue, but you can’t. The room spins and it feels like you’re floating. Everything mirrors over what feels like hours. Furniture isn’t where you remember it being and you don’t feel like you’re in the right body anymore.
Is he here with you?
You feel a squeeze.
You don’t know what’s happening, anymore.
Those hours that passed were barely a minute. His face is nuzzled into the juncture between your neck and shoulder, and his breath is mystifying against your skin. Every huff is like ice and you feel the way your skin clusters and rises in uneven bumps as it tries to preserve any remaining warmth lingering through your body.
“You can tell me, without telling me.” he explains, though you don’t really follow. His arms tighten around you again before releasing you slightly, slowly, enough for you to wriggle around in his hold if you choose to. You don’t. You’re completely still, digesting his words. “I’ll hear you, no matter what.”
“I don’t know what to say, Toji… I, I really don’t.”
“Why do you miss me?” he breathes again, your voice hitches at the thought of explaining yourself so intimately. So desperately. You won’t be able to stop him from judging you or mocking you for being so weak, and still, you do as he asks.
Not because he told you to, no. You’d do it anyway. You do it every single day when given the opportunity to dwell. All he can do is hold you as buckle under the lofty ideals and pressurizing weight of your spoiled existence.
I miss how I felt with you. I miss how life felt worth living each day because there was so much to do with you. Nothing felt impossible, everything is impossible, now. Even small things that are simple for others, aren’t for me. Things felt new and exciting, I’m too tired of everything now. Food seemed more appetizing with you, everything tastes worse now.
Things are meant to get better, easier. People say that but I feel the same as I always have. It fluctuates, there are ebbs and flows but ultimately I’m always going to be sad. My skin feels worse and my body doesn’t belong to me anymore. I don’t want to be in it, I don’t want to be attached to the skin and bones that are meant to be mine. They aren’t. They were never meant to be mine. I’m wasting the oxygen in my lungs, I’m rotting.
Everyday is the same.
I only rot and wither.
I’m lonely and unsatisfied. Nothing makes me happy because I don’t have you. No lover will compare. No meal will stave away the starving pangs I feel in my stomach. No drink will be cold enough to quench my thirst in the beastly summers and none will be hot enough to warm my bones in the bitter winter.
I’m wholly unsatisfied.
People do great things. Not me. I don’t doubt people would miss me if I died, but I don’t really care. It’s selfish, but I’m tired. I’m exhausted. I miss you, I miss you more than I’d ever be missed. I mourn your life, a life that isn’t mine, more than I will ever mourn my own. Every breath I take feels like a theft. I’m stealing the air and lung capacity of someone greater than myself, someone worthy.
I’m worthless.
I speak sentences no one cares about, not like you do. No one will ever care about me like you do, and you don’t even miss me. I wouldn’t, either, I suppose. Any words I say, poetry I write, canvas I paint, is worthless. I am a burden in people’s eyes, my creations aren’t worth viewing, my point of view isn’t worth seeing, I’m worthless.
I am worthless, Toji.
Do you think I am? Maybe if things were different, maybe if I didn’t miss you so much, I wouldn’t feel like this. I wouldn’t feel burdened by a life lost and squandered that I will never be able to know the way I so desperately crave. It’s my fault, I know. I love you and I want you back but I’ve lost you forever.
What I have now, my miserable little life, is what I will have forever. A true burden, a hinderance, a stain. I can’t do it anymore, I can’t. How am I expected to live a life I’m so depressed by for the sake of others. So I don’t make my family or friends sad. It’s selfish, I’m selfish, I’m finding it hard to care as each day passes.
I’d rather be with you, now.
Things don’t get better, I won’t get better.
I know my thoughts are loud, my thoughts are exhausting and it’s hard to hear or think clearly like this. But if I’m with you, it’ll stop.
I don’t want to miss you anymore.
I don’t want to be lonely anymore.
No one loves me the way I need to be loved; but I don’t know how to ask for it.
You sit bolt upright, breathless before running to the bathroom. You’re panting and your mouth feels warm and icky from the taste of swallowed tears. Though your face still shines under the bathroom light from them. You don’t have a glass, you bend over and drink water directly from the tap as you try and regain your composure.
He’s staring at you from his spot on the bed as you gasp and devour each droplet you can. It coats your tongue and bulges through your throat as you take heartier gulps than you had any business taking.
But soon enough, you’re back in his arms as you try and calm yourself down. You’re always tired, but now, after that, you’re exhausted. You wonder if he really did hear you or if he lied to you. It doesn’t matter you suppose. There’s nothing you can do to make him miss you too. There’s nothing you can do to force him back to you.
He’s gone.
For good.
“Why are you still here?” he asks you. Your eyes open, only a little, wondering if you heard him right. “If you were serious, if you weren’t joking, why?”
“… I’m scared,” you admit. “I wasn’t joking… but I am scared. And I know… I know people love me, I know people care about me. It doesn’t feel like enough, it never has and I don’t think it ever will. But… it’s something.”
“Why are you scared?” he continues.
“I— I don’t think things will get better.” you confess. “But what if… they do?”
You don’t see the way he smiles when he hears you speak. When he hears that resilience in your words. You’re hurting, you’re struggling. And still you’re here. You’re trying, your fighting. You’re hoping.
Things might not get better. But what if they do?
One day you might remember why your favourite foods are your favourite foods again. The TV shows and films you love might feel warm and familiar again. There could be someone, anyone, waiting to find you so you can share these things with them, too.
Things could change.
People might listen to your thoughts and care about them. The words you write might matter to someone. The paintings you create might be worlds people fantasize living in as they hang on their walls.
Someone might love you the way you need to be loved, without you knowing how to ask for that brand of love.
Toji misses you, he mourns you, too. But you understand, now. He doesn’t want to hold you back anymore. He doesn’t want you to keep suffering because of him. Because you miss him.
So, you’ll always miss him, there won’t be a day you won’t think about him.
But if there’s a chance, however small, that things might change, he wants you to take it.
“Goodnight, baby.” he hums. “… Princess? I’m proud. I'm proud of you.”
It warms your body to hear him say it. It’s a little embarrassing, but you can’t bring yourself to care. It’s words, maybe it’s lip service, but you made someone proud. And you sleep peacefully with that knowledge.
Daybreaks through the window, bright and invasive enough to break you from your sleep. You fell asleep above the covers, you aren’t being held anymore. There’s no noise in your apartment, there’s no signs of life besides your own beating heart.
Maybe it was like that the whole time.

Hi there! And yes I'm the one who asking the poly relationship. Can you do a smut Ghost x male reader x Soap? (the three already dating but kept it a secret from the team)
Where the reader can not sleep and decided he'll stand up all night. When he walks out to get something to drinks, the male meet Soap there. Asking why he hasn't slept yet. The read explain and telling that he decided to still up till moring.
That when Soap telling that to come with him to his room (share Ghost) so that he can make to the reader tired (the reader still don't know what he about to do so he followed) and that where it started:)
Some teasing would be nice. Can you make the smut it longer? Because there aren't many smut about male reader. Sorry if my grammar is bad, english isn't my first language. (◍•ᴗ•◍)
Have a nice day!
MAKING YOU TIRED
Hiii thx for requesting! I didn't add the teasing cus i forgot- sorry btw but i hope you still like this. And have a nice day also<33
Waring: SMUT of course, Soft Soap, Ghost is abit harsh, dom Ghost and switch Soap.
You woke up as you rubbed your eyes to make your vision clear up, you noticed the time was 1 in the morning making him sigh and fall back to bed and vlosed your eyes waiting for sleep to get him, but sadly you doesn't feel sleepy anymore.. and this made you let out a long groan.
You even tried changing poses and cleared out the bed abit but of course.. none of them worked, you got up deciding to take a sip of water, you strolled around the base having a hard time finding the counter from how dark it was, you didn't wanna turn the lights on because you didn't want to disturd your team as they slept through the night.
You could've just brought your phone to flash the place or even a flashlight but your half asleep mind made you forget about that.
As you walked around the dark room you hit something making it let out an 'oof' sound, you looked at where the sound came from "wha?-" you said in confusion "Y/n? What're you doing up in this hour, you soon recognizd the voice as it belongs to Soap which made you sigh "nothing.. just cant sleep and wanna get some water" Soap nodded.
"how about me and Ghost help you with that hm?" Even if its dark you can tell he was smiling and without a cboice you agreed and followed to Ghost's room where you both sometimes shared with.
Soon as that you are now both at his room with Ghost sitting on the side of the bed his gaze turns to eye you both and sigh "Y/n? Why aren't you asleep?" He asked with his gruff voice booming through the room you three were in.
Again you explain why and nodded "right.. how bout me and Soap help you with that?" Soap chuckled in the background"i already told him tgat Lt." This made Ghost let out a small 'Oh' and nod his head "alright i guess".
Then at that Soap pulled you to him and began to kiss you which made you let put a gasp and without hesitation he shoved his tongue in yiur mouth, exploring your wet cavern as he does so.
His hand snaked around your waist and cupped your ass and groped it tightly making you shudder and whimper out softly, he smirked in the kiss and pulled away to take a breath.
You noticed ghost's mask was pulled up to his nose and pulled you to a deep kiss, you wrapped your arms around his neck in instincts as Soap glided his hands on your waist and nuzzled his face on your neck giving it kisses and gentle bites.
After that they pushed you to the bed with your back laying on the mattress "take his clothes of and stretch him out for me will you?" Ghost said behind Soap before slapping his ass, followed and slowly pulled both your pants and boxers making your dick spring out the covers. He went to the drawer beside and open to get some lube and smeared it over your ass, slowly he shoved 1 finger in and the the 2nd, slowly thrusting it in and out scissoring your insides making you mewl and arch your back at the feeling, soon a 3rd finger was shoved it and let out a long whine of pleasure when he hit a certain spot in you.
He pulled his finger out and gripped your thighs spreading them to line his cock near you rim and slide in, you gripped on the sheets tightly feeling his cock filling you up "fuck you tight.." Soap hissed out feeling your walls gripping his cock nicely and he let out a soft moan near your ear making your back shiver from his warm breath near your ear.
You whined around his cock filling you up as he thrusted in a slow steady pace, soon you became desperate and gripped his shoulders as you wrapped you legs around his waist "Please go faster" you whimpered and Soap didn't hesitated to pull his cock out leaving the tip and slammed so hard into you making your back arch in pleasure and let out a long pleasurable moan but got caught off by soap kissing you "shh.. better not wake the others" he said making you nod "Fuck your doing so so good baby" he breath out and whimpered out.
You both kissed deeply and passionately as he thrusted roughly inside, the bed shook everytime he thrusted in it was so rough yet pleasurable for both of you "Your so tight for me hun.. doing so good, fuck-" he praised against you, you almost cried when he hit your prostate hard "Seems your having fun there Jhonny.." Ghost heavy voice filled both your ear and couldn't help but whimper against Soaps ear "Remember.. im next so dont waste you time" Ghost grabbed Soap's hair and pulled it back and he whined breathlessly and nodded "y-yes sir".
Soap thrusted in faster trying to reach his end, you tried not to moan out loudly waking the others up by biting Soap's neck "F-fuck- ooh~ Jhonny.." you muffled near his neck "dont eorry im close" He let out gasping when he felt you tighten.
Soon he slammed down and came making you came on both your chest staining it with your white sticky cum, you both panted heavily and You noticed at the background Ghost has his pants open and his cock out jacking himself off while watching you both.
"My turn now Soap" Ghost commanded, and Soap nodded and took his cock out and watch his cock leak out and your hole twitch, you gasped softly feeling his cum in you, then Ghost grabbed your waist and turned you around with your chest pressed against the bed pressing down roughly making Soap's cum drip out and whined from it.
Ghost quickly scooped Soap's cum with his cock and slammed in all the way in, you whined and mewl against the sheets feeling tears dribble down your eyes staining the sheets with dark spots.
"Still tight even Soap fucked you with his cock? What a fucking Slut" he said licking his lips and began to thrust in, you gripped tightly on the sheets and arched your back everytime he thrust in. You would cry when he hits your prostate.
His thrust was more rougher than Soap, it almost made you cum tight on that spot and your head dizzy.
"fucking- ahh~ you l-little w-whore.. so tight" a sudden slap hit your ass making it sting and red.
You felt a snap in your stomach and suddenly cum came oozing out of your weeping cock, you cried out against the sheets with a loud moan of pleasure and arched your back making him go even deeper inside you, he moaned out a groan when he felt you tighten up so tight making him shot out cum.
Ghost pulled out as his and Soap's cum ooze out of your twitching hole. You felt your body going limp, you eyes slowly closed falling asleep on the bed.
IM DEEPLY SORRY IT TOOK AWHILE😭

The cake incident
A little story, I thought up involving me and my partners
Everyone is nonbinary so can apply to anyone!
cw for: mean nicknames, teasing and force-feeding
I whimper quietly feeling my belly slosh as I roll onto my fatty hip. my eyes flutter open as I hear my round belly gurgle there’s no way I could still be hungry, but I was. Even after the two whole pizzas, wings and sodas, you both forced down my gullet. I look over at you both as I slowly push my fat body off the bed. I creep as quietly as my wobbling body would allow towards the door. By the time I got down the stairs, I was huffing. “Oof…” I rest a hand on the bottom of my flabby belly as I brace myself up against the wall, trying to catch my breath. I wheeze as I finally finished the trek to the kitchen and grab a chair, plopping myself down in front of the fridge hearing it creak under my weight.
I reach into the fridge, trying to find something anything I felt empty I need to fill my belly. My chubby and lands on the cake we had made for a friend gathering the next day. I bite my lip I know I shouldn’t, but I needed it. “just a bite…” I look around for a knife or something close, but there was nothing and I felt too heavy to get up again so I can’t really lifted the cake up to my mouth and took a bite my face getting covered in creamy icing. I moan at the taste we had a really hard on ourselves. The flavor burst in my mouth and it made me want more so I took another bite this one bigger than the last.
I as I scarfed down, bite after bite I failed to notice someone was behind me, until I feel a large hand grip the bottom of my belly “ahh!” my face goes red as I look up, embarrassed, noticing the face of my partner E smirking down at me. “what do we have here? A disobedient piggy?” They squeeze the bottom of my belly enough to leave nail marks as they hiss in my ear. “what have I told you about getting up without permission?” they growl, grabbing my face with their other hand, making me look at them as I tried to turn away. “and what did I tell you about that cake?” they hold my chubby cheeks, making my lips pucker “that I wasn’t supposed to touch it” I whimper, feeling they’re hot breath on the tip of my nose “then why are you down here and covered in chocolate?” I tear up looking at them “b-because I got hungry…” without warning I feel a slap on my plump ass and hear the snicker of my other partner A.
I whine as it dawned on me what’s about to happen. I guess as A takes my hands and ties them behind my back. I watch them laying down in front of me pulling my night shirt down over my belly, fastening it with a belt that was so tired I could hardly breathe. I start whimper and squirm. As I hear start the blender filling it the cake he took from my hands. I start to drool A slaps my belly, making me moan and open my mouth, allowing them to slip a funnel into it. I look into their eyes seeing their sadistic pleasure. “oh, come on, sweetheart you know the rules you knew what was going to happen~” I squeal against the funnel weakly, trying to pull away despite how much I wanted it.
I feel E lean up against the back of the chair, letting me rest my head on their own growing belly. They carefully start to pour the cake shake down my throat. I could hear them hissing in my ear “drink it all down fatty” E purrs as they pour it at a steady pace. “come on honey I know you want to stretch that fat belly” A whispered in my ear as they robbed the top part of my belly, which was beginning to push up against the belt.
I grunt against the tube sickly sweet shake, dribbling onto my plump lips I was only a third of the way down, and I was already getting full. I look at them both with pleading eyes. The hem of my shirts started to roll revealing the bottom of my chubby belly. It was littered with stretch marks and hickeys. As soon as A saw it they were on their knees in front of me sucking fresh ones onto my over inflated gut. They both noticed it is starting to slow down.
E still leaned up against me gently pats the top of my belly “come on baby you can do it don’t you wanna be good? Just a little bit more and then will take you back to bed.” They carefully undo the belt, giving me some more room to breathe. I guess for air as I chug down the last bit of the shake. I hear them both giggle as E pulls out from between my lips “oh my goodness you did so good~” they kiss my chubby red cheek stroking my belly. I looked down, feeling A’s smile on the on bottom my fatty apron, as they untie me the rest of the way.
I burp loudly as they both work together to get me standing. My hands instantly shoot towards my belly as I whine quietly as they slowly help me waddle back upstairs to our bed. I lay down on my back huffing softly. They both lay on each side of me, effectively, trapping me in between them and start to rub my overfed belly, whispering praises into my ear. I slowly drift off to sleep smiling at the feeling of feeling my stomach churning as it tries to digest all of the calories that will make me even bigger.

ngl i would genuinely get off to making haley jealous and angry because of how fucking easy it is. my personal hc here but i think she was controlling and thought she had hotch wrapped around her finger and it infuriated her that his job was the only thing he refused to listen to her about. i also think she tried to baby trap him with jack in the assumption that would "fix" their marriage and when it only made it worse she blamed aaron for never being home when she easily couldve hired a nanny or regular babysitter so she could work or do whatever. i believe she cheated bc of that one phone call to their house when hotch answered and it was a random man asking for haley before hanging up and the look hotch gave her like yeah he knew she was fucking around too. i think it made her even angrier that when she filed for divorce hotch didnt even fight her onit! didnt ask to work things out or for counseling or anything. just "okay ill sign the papers when i get back from this case"
now assuming reader is mid twenties i think your very existence would have her enraged. aaron seems happier and even healthier. hes got more color in his face, hes put on some healthy weight, he smiles and laughs now, he takes more time off work, his life has clearly significantly improve since she left him and she cant fucking stand it. she thought she was the best thing that ever happened to him and now shes seeing in real time she's actually the worst thing ♥️♥️
and you thinks its funny as hell to watch a 40 year old woman with a whole ass kid be that bent out of fucking shape because the man SHE LEFT is fine without her. like yes maam i am younger than you, hotter than you, nicer than you AND i can ride the dick just right. stay pressed bitch 💕. and when she tries interfering in your relationship hotch asks you to put up with it just for a bit because he knows hack is still adjusting to coparenting and he wants the best for his son so you let him handle his exwife until she crosses a line and tries to accuse you of some shit and aaron finally puts his foot down and haley cant believe that shes really lost complete control over aaron (haha fuck you haley)
like i fantasize about a situation where haley is trying SOOOO hard to break yall up and drive a wedge between you two and it isnt until jacks birthday or some big family function aaron brought you too and haley cant help it but lowkey stalk yall all night and so youre like "aaron watch this" and you drag him off to some secluded corner and hes like ??? but you tell him "hold on baby give it a minute. bet you anything haley pops up" and then once you hear footsteps you give aaron a big fat smooch and surprise surprise!! whos coming around the corner? why its haleys stalker ass following you two like a creep!
i literally just want to cuck haleys pathetic ass because fuck her and her scraggly blonde hair and that nappy ass wig she had on in witness protection with her no-style-no-personality-all-about-me havin ass 😒😒😒😒
sorry this is such a convoluted mess i just hate that lady 😭😭
I NEEDN'T SAY MORE THIS IS EXACTLY MY THOTS I WANT THAT WOMAN SEEEETHING AT THE SIGHT OF AARON BEING HAPPY AND THRIVING. SHE WOULD ABSOLUTELY BE THE CRAZY EX WHO PROBABLY ENDS UP HARASSING YOU.
The SECOND she says smth nasty abt you Aaron is soooooo fucking pissed. She insults you saying you're just a whore sleeping with Aaron for his money (and cuz us babes are plus-size queens she HATES THAT) and that Aaron is not attracted to you.
And Aaron OOF he takes her to one side and tells her she is fucking nothing but the mother of his child now. That YOU are his everything. YOU make him the man he is now. He's fucking happy with you as the love of his life and that Haley made him chronically stressed and depressed and almost completely ruined his self esteem. He warns her to back the fuck off from him and reader. He does not want any communication with her unless it's to do with Jack. End of.

... hi, it's me again ʕ ꈍᴥꈍʔ i'm on finals week so i need a heavy dose of daydreaming with my comfort characters. can i request some hc (or an escenario, again whichever you prefer) about law helping the reader to study for an exam? maybe his reaction to the reader thinking that their grade wasn't good enough after taking the test? (great score, not the full mark) thank you sm ! i love your writing and i hope you have a great week and take proper rests mwah .。*♡
Oof, finals week is always a doozy :( you've got this bb, I'm hoping that you got wonderful scores!!
[Heads up!: modern!au, fluff, comfort!]
Tumblr media
You've been studying for weeks. Hours upon hours spent poring over your notes and text books, making flashcards and begging Law to help you review them, make sure that your grasp of the content was solid.
Highlighter stained fingers and paragraph after paragraph ㅡ burning the midnight oil until you can't keep your eyes open any longer. Law helps where he can, both in studying (he even drags out some of his old notes) and in making sure that you don't turn this into a detriment to your health.
("I'm not just your boyfriend," he intones as he more or less pushes you towards the bed, "I'm also a doctor. And I don't want you to pass out, so bed. Now.")
And ultimately, you have a good feeling that all of your hardwork will pay off ㅡ you're a good student, you pay attention, you ask questions when you need to.
It feels like a slap to the face when your score doesn't reflect that. At first you think you've read it wrong, trace it with a finger and mouth it to yourself ㅡ and then disappointment slams into you like a lead weight.
With yourself, with the material, even your professor (who, oddly enough, is one of the sweeter people you've had for a class) ㅡ it isn't fair.
You tried. You tried so hard ㅡ and it still isn't enough.
Law's first warning that things aren't okay is the fact that you don't answer your cellphone when he tries to call and ask what you want for dinner. The second is that the lights are off in your shared apartment, something that never happens (both of you have odd sleep schedules even when things are normal and there is almost always a light on somewhere) ㅡ and that he can't find you.
Your shoes are at the door, jacket hung up, along with your keys ㅡ you're home, but where is the question.
With limited space, there is only a handful of places you can be and when he sees you're not in the room that doubles as both a study and his office, he checks the bedroom.
Yor back is to him and were it not for the tremble of your shoulders, he'd think you were asleep. But you're not, you're crying and his heart sinks.
"[Name]," he says as he approaches, coaxing you up and into his arms, "why are you crying?"
It takes a minute or two for you to answer, sniffling as you take a shuddering breath. "Got the results of the exam back."
Law frowns. "And?" He prompts gently, wiping at your face, tear tracks cooling on your skin. He watches you, the tremble of your lips as you tell him your score, and his frown deepens. "That isn't that bad," he says, "that's only a couple points off."
"But I studied my ass off, Law!" Frustration colors your tone. "I worked so hard to ace that exam and it doesn't feel like I did enough."
Law understands the need for perfection, for everything to have a place and for nothing to be subpar ㅡ but he also knows how detrimental that can be for both your self-esteem and your overall health.
"You didn't do anything wrong," Law says, cradling your face gently. "You're still on the higher end of score for that exam, [Name]. And you can always ask your professor where she docked points and why."
Law has a point, and you sniffle before you press into him, sighing as he rubs your back. "You're right. I'm sorry for crying, that's stupid."
"No, it isn't." Law chides gently. "But these past few weeks have been stressful for you. I brought home dinner, and I can start a bath for you after, if you'd like."
You press a soft kiss to his shoulder. "Can we cuddle after?"
"Of course."
You hum, letting yourself cling to your boyfriend a little longer. "Sounds perfect."

"Promise Me" | Gojo x Reader
Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen Pairing: Satoru Gojo x Reader Words: 2.3k
A/N: no one talk to me, this is my way of coping with the latest chapter. This week is not a fun one for us Gojo lovers. Also this scenario has probably been written a thousand times at this point (thanks a lot Gege) but here's my two cents on the matter (go figure, my first official Gojo post and he's fuckin dead)
Warnings: JJK 236 SPOILERS, mentions of fem!reader, nightmares, brief mentions of violence/gore, pet names (baby, sweets, pretty girl), very self-indulgent and I apologize for that
Tumblr media
Nightmares are a common occurrence in your line of work; you knew that even before you agreed to take the job. Usually you can stand them when they hit. Staring into the shadows of your bedroom, wide eyes raking over every little thing inside, too scared to even move a muscle. Knowing that, once you do, the illusion will vanish. The fear will go away, bit by bit, until you feel comfortable enough to fall back asleep.
Till the next morning, when you can’t even remember what you were so afraid of.
But this time is different. Your body isn’t frozen at all; you don’t snuggle deeper into the blankets, praying that they’ll be enough to protect you from whatever creatures lurk in the night. In fact they’re suffocating—but even when you throw them off you’re still heaving like a madman. Cold sweat clamming up your skin. Hands trembling at your sides. Eyes nearly bursting from your skull when you realize the other side of the bed is empty.
Empty, empty—where is he? Where did he go?
Was your dream not actually a dream after all?
You’re shaking so hard when you force your way out of bed. Nearly toppling over your own two feet as you stumble out of the bedroom. The door’s cracked open, but there aren’t any lights on, where is he, where the fuck is he?!
Another step, round the corner, and suddenly you smack face first into something hard. A soft oof reaches your ears, and through the darkness and the veil of your tears, you can barely make out the two blue lights glowing at you from above.
“Whoa, careful! Sorry about that, almost didn’t see you there. What’re you doing up so late, baby?”
Your eyes are still blurry, no matter how many times you blink. But you can still see him, his hair messy from sleep, wearing nothing but a pair of old sweatpants. He offers a lazy smile, but it drops almost instantly when he sees the tears spilling down your burning cheeks.
“…Hey, what’s wrong?”
Maybe it’s the tender tone of his voice, the soft way he speaks those three simple words. Or maybe it’s the fact you can see his eyes dim ever so slightly, signaling he’s turned off his technique for the moment. Or maybe it’s just knowing that he’s here, still alive and breathing and in one fucking piece, that makes you lose control. (Not that you had very much to begin with, but still.)
He visibly jolts at the shrill wail that rips from your throat, his whole body rigid as you throw yourself against his chest. Tiny arms wrapped around his waist, nails digging into his muscular back. Almost as though you’re scared he’ll disappear, anchoring him to you with every bit of strength you have.
What does he do? You’re obviously in distress, but why? He’d just left to get a glass of water, he’d been gone for less than five minutes! And now you’re blubbering like a child into his bare chest, sobbing so loudly he’s surprised none of your neighbors have come banging on your door.
“Baby, come on,” he tries, but the pet name only seems to make you cry harder. He winces before taking hold of both your shoulders. He doesn’t bother trying to pry you away; no need to make you even more upset. “You gotta tell me what’s wrong. I can’t help you if I don’t know.”
Damn it, everything he’s saying is just making it worse. He hates seeing you cry like this. So tiny and frail, curling into his chest, incoherent words and noises spilling from your lips. You won’t answer him or let go of his body, no matter how many times he tries to convince you.
Does he just ride it out and let you finish? What if you pass out? Will you still remember any of this by the time you wake up tomorrow? Was it something he said earlier that made you this upset? He wracks his brain, trying to see if any of his earlier teasing struck a nerve within you. He doesn’t recall saying anything that could prompt this kind of reaction out of you…
Then again, what could? You’re his girl, his other half (as he’s quick to remind you and everyone else within earshot). Strong but soft, a capable sorcerer climbing the ranks with ease. You have an unshakeable character, sticking true to your values and morals no matter what. It’s one of the reasons why he fell in love with you in the first place. Not just anything could resort you to a crying, trembling mess in his arms.
He sucks in a deep breath and tries again. “Come on, tell me what’s wrong. I promise I’ll make it all better, I swear!”
And he’s just about to bribe you with some of the sweets he’s stashed away in the kitchen when you lift your head from his chest. Cheeks hot and tearstained, and yet you’re still so beautiful.
“S-sorry,” you barely manage to choke out. Your throat’s practically on fire, and you can already feel a monster of a headache coming on. “I…I had…”
He doesn’t say anything. He simply wipes your tears away with his thumb, waiting patiently for you to finish.
“…I had a bad dream…”
It sounds so fucking childish when you say it out loud. Should’ve just kept your mouth shut, gone back to bed once you saw he was okay. What do you expect he’ll do about it, huh? Not like he can erase your bad memories, no matter how strong he might be.
But that hole in your chest is still there, even after all that crying—
And you can’t help it anymore. You press your palms to your face, desperately trying to rid your fact of all those tears. Wanting to save at least some of your dignity before the night’s over.
A pair of warm hands close over your wrists, his touch surprisingly gentle as he pulls your hands away. Exposing your teary, blubbering face to those beautiful blue eyes. The mere thought makes you want to cry all over again.
“C’mon now, you’re too pretty to cry like that.” The corner of his mouth is quirked up in a smile, his messy hair hanging over his eyes as he tilts his head to meet your gaze. He catches another tear on his thumb, making sure to wipe it away before pressing a kiss to your cheek. “I don’t like seeing you all upset like that.”
“B-but”—oh fuck, here you go again—“you were…you were dead!”
You can still remember everything so clearly. The blood trickling from his mouth. The glazed look in those dull eyes. How fucking fast it all seemed to happen. One moment he was fine, breathing and smiling as usual, and the next he was staring up at the sky. You didn’t even hear his body drop to the ground.
So much blood, it’s not supposed to be out of your body like that, why couldn’t I save you, why couldn’t—
“I’m sorry!” you blurt out, even as he takes you in his arms and pulls you against his chest. “I wasn’t enough to save you! You were dead and I couldn’t do a damn thing about it!”
You don’t even know what you’re saying at this point, but for whatever reason, talking about this seems to help. Your chest feels a bit lighter than it did before, even if your heart’s as heavy as a stone.
“You’re not supposed to die! And I know that’s stupid of me to say, everyone dies at some point, but you always say you’re the strongest! No one can hurt you, even if they tried! So why—”
Your voice catches in your throat, tears still streaming down your face. He still holds you close, one arm around your waist, his other hand resting on the back of your head.
“…Why did you leave me? You said you’d never leave me, no matter what! But you did—and I let it happen—I’m so fucking sorry, Satoru, I just—”
You’re running out of steam, you can feel it in your bones. Too exhausted to cry anymore, probably too burnt out to even walk back to your room. But before you can even try he’s lifting your face in his hands, tracing your swollen lips with his thumb.
Smirking down at you like there’s nothing wrong in the world.
“Why are you sorry, sweets? If anything, I should be the one saying sorry. Sorry that dream version of me was such a cheap imitation.” He rolls his eyes with a scoff. “Like I’d let myself get killed like that.”
“S-Satoru, I’m serious!”
“And so am I.” And you can see it in his face—the way his eyes practically burn into yours, his mouth set in a tight line, his jaw clenched even when he forces out the words. “I said I’d never leave you, right?”
You sniffle out, “Y-yeah…”
“And I meant it. So no matter how many bad dreams you might have of me,” he curls his hands around your thighs and lifts you up effortlessly, securing your body against his chest, “just know that they’re dreams. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Slowly, he begins to carry you back to your room. Your arms find their way around his neck, fingers burying their way into his soft white hair. You’ll never get over how strong he is, how amazing he is—and how of all the people in the world, he chose to share the rest of his life with you.
Not strong enough to save himself from dying.
Your throat fills with bile at the thought, even as he settles you back down against the mattress. Back in the place where your nightmare occurred, where you saw his body and all that blood—
“Don’t leave me!”
“Baby, I wasn’t even planning on it.” Damn, this nightmare really messed with your head, huh? “I’m staying right here with you, alright?”
You won’t disappear on me again? You won’t leave me alone like you did in that dream, right?
He seems to see right through you, given the soft expressing in those dazzling blue eyes. “I promise, I won’t leave your side. Not tonight, not ever.”
It takes a few moments for the two of you to get situated in bed; Satoru ends up having to do most of the work, since your arms and legs are still trembling uncontrollably. But the second the blankets are back around you, he wraps his arms around your shoulders and pulls you into his chest. Long legs tangling with yours, his breath warm against the crown of your head.
Lips soft as they press a thousand kisses to your forehead.
“I don’t know what kind of curse you dreamt of, but if I ever came across something like it one of these days…” He leans down, lips ghosting over the shell of your ear. “…I’d win, hands down.”
“You’d better.” Your head’s pounding something fierce, every bone in your body screaming for some proper rest. And it starts to feel normal, being wrapped up in Satoru’s arms. “…Otherwise, I’d have to kick your ass.”
He lets out a laugh before nuzzling his face in the crook of your neck. His long eyelashes tickle your skin, his lips sweet and warm when they finally find your own.
“I’m sure you would. Although, I’d never let that happen; I’ll make sure to win every single fight, I swear! Don’t wanna make my pretty girl worry about me.”
But you’re always going to worry about him. It’s in your blood, comes with the territory of keeping this relationship alive. And maybe it’s stupid, maybe he is strong enough to never have to worry about himself in a fight. But there’s always going to be that part of you that wonders if he’s going to make it home tonight.
You tilt your head, eager to taste his lips again. Like your life depends on it, and the thought makes him smirk.
“Aww, can’t get enough of me, sweets?”
“…Shut up.”
But he knows he’s right. And you know he’s right. Doesn’t mean you have to say it out loud, though.
“You know I meant it, right?” Suddenly he’s holding your face again, brushing his nose against your own. His voice strangely soft as he leans in close, warm breath ghosting over your face. “’M not leaving you. Never, ever, ever!”
That gets a smile out of you. Weak and pitiful, but a smile nonetheless. At least he’s earnest. At the end of the day, he means well when it comes to you.
“I know you won’t. …So thank you.” You return his hug, sneaking your hand between your bodies and pressing it against his chest. Your throat growing tight when you feel the familiar b-bmp of his heart against your trembling palm. “Thank you for staying with me.”
There’s that tiny voice in the back of your head, urging you not to listen to such pointless promises. Knowing that deep down, neither of you can stop death when it comes knocking at your door. No matter how much power he possesses, even Satoru Gojo can’t resist death’s clutches when they finally sink their claws into him.
But there’s time for you to deal with all of that in the future. Right here, right now, he’s safe and sound in your arms. Messy white hair tickling your neck as he nibbles on the skin of your earlobe. Making you giggle as he brushes the rest of your tears away.
And thanking whatever deity may be listening above that you get to spend just one more night with him, wrapped up in his arms with his lips against your own.

This Way Out
So, Tails slipped up. Not only did he manage to get himself snagged, but he dragged Belle into this with him. To make matters worse, Starline was unbearably smug about the whole thing. Yeah, yeah, he got the Sonic the Hedgehog’s sidekick. Whoop-de-friggin-doo.
Just when Tails was starting to prove himself again. Ugh. How embarrassing.
Well, enough of that. He promised Sonic he’d be fine, and he intended to keep his word. All he had to do was find a way to get Belle and himself out safely. … But who exactly were those two Mobians hanging around the facility?
(Alternate ending to Sonic IDW Issue #36, featuring a snarky fox. Some angst, some crack.)
Even before fully regaining consciousness, Tails knew he was in for a headache. And not just literally, though the pulsing in his temple was certainly noteworthy.
For starters, before even opening his eyes, he was lying stiffly on his back of all places. Tails never slept on his back if he could help it – his namesakes made resting much more reasonable on his side or belly. Sleeping on his tails was both uncomfortable and impractical. Impractical because it left his belly and other more vulnerable parts exposed. Uncomfortable due to the cold and the fact that his namesakes trapped underneath him, occasionally numb from lack of bloodflow. Which they were. But so were his arms and his legs, and, oh, he couldn’t move at all actually.
It was probably too much to hope that that beeping indicated that he’d spent the last fifteen hours on a stone-hard hospital bed, seeing how his last waking recollection involved him and Belle separating, tons of snow, and…
Starline. Who wanted to kidnap him. For supposedly scientific purposes.
Ugh.
With no small amount of trepidation, the fox bleerily opened his eyes. He was immediately rewarded for his efforts with too much light why couldn’t he live like the nocturnal creatures foxes were meant to be and a sinister chuckle that grated on his nerves.
“Ah, Young Master Prower. I see you are awake.”
Yup. And he wished he wasn’t.
“Starline.” Oof. Voice crack. That wasn’t doing his credibility any favors. How long had he been out? He coughed, trying to get his voice back before roughly continuing: “I hope you’ve got a five star meal on the way; otherwise I’m going to have to give this stay a poor review. Don’t tell me this is a hospital bed,” he grimaced at the surface he was strapped to, arms, tails, and all. He was trapped for the time being, but appeared to be intact, at least. If the bindings were ignored, he could have passed for a patient – the presence of the finger pulse oximeter amongst other diagnostic tools were certainly intriguing, if not concerning. Were those vials of blood his? “Or do. Cause I’m not sure there’s much I can do for you if you think it’s acceptable to let your guests sleep on tables.”
The platypus stared at him for a few seconds, like he hadn’t expected the witty response. It was actually kind of funny to watch him visibly reboot and reassess the fox. Finally, he sighed. “I suppose you were raised by Sonic. It makes sense that you would share his poor taste in humor.”
“It clearly beats your taste in decor,” Tails sniped back. Starline hummed at that.
“Public perception of you paints you to be a polite boy genius. It seems that isn’t entirely true.”
Tails shrugged. Or tried to, anyway. “The general population wouldn’t consider strapping me to an examination table. Care to explain that, by the way?”
Starline smiled a sweet-sick smile. “Oh, you’re curious, are you? To be quite frank, I want to see if you can find out. Why don’t you and Miss Belle take a moment to catch up?”
Tails froze. “Belle?”
“I'm here, Tails…” the voice came from his left. He peered over as far as he could to see the robotic marionette on a second table a short distance away. She wouldn’t meet his eyes, but from what he could see of her… she looked distraught. Not fearful, necessarily, but despairing, which was somehow even more worrisome.
“Belle, are you okay?” He asked gently. She sniffled, ducking her head into her chest as best as she could. Were those… tear tracks on her cheeks? She could cry? Why was she crying? He took a second to shoot a gleeful Starline a sharp glare before refocusing on his newest companion. “Belle, are you hurt?”
“... No,” she whispered.
Tails didn’t know if he believed that, but he didn’t know how to press the issue with the correct amount of sensitivity, especially with Starline hovering over them. What a creep. Couldn’t he leave? “Okay… okay. It’s going to be alright, I promise.” He waited for Belle’s tiny nod before continuing. “How long have you been active?”
“About… twenty minutes. I’ve been offline s-since the avalanche. I… I’m sorry, Tails. You came back for me and now-”
“I’m not worried about that, Belle,” he told her, firmly but not unkindly. “We’ll figure it out. Can you tell me what you remember?”
“I…” She made a strangled sound, but forced herself to continue. “My d-d… my creator was Mr. Tinker.” Tails gut sank. He wasn’t surprised, not with their matching attire, but it was still a sad confirmation to hear. “That… that jerk figured it out. He, he told me-” she hiccuped again. “It’s his fault Mr. Tinker is gone. He changed him into Eggman.”
“... I’m sorry, Belle.” What could he say to that? This wasn’t something he could fix with a wrench and a bit of mechanical know-how. Belle was a robot, but her feelings were hardly artificial. After Emerl, Gamma, and their successors, Tails was very well aware of that. She was just as much of a person as anyone organic; something that was clear to him from the moment they met. He couldn’t just reprogram her to feel better. Or, well, maybe he could, but that wouldn’t be right. To do so would likely be robbing her memories and cheapening her experiences, changing who she was in the process. It wouldn’t truly fix anything; frankly, it would likely lead to an identity crisis later on.
And so, all he had to offer her was kindness, and time to recover once they escaped.
“I… don’t know how to help with Mr. Tinker, but my friends and I would be happy to have you, if you want. I have space for you back at my workshop, and the Restoration accepts anyone who wants to to have a part of it. If you want a home, we’ll give you one. We can try to figure out the rest in time.”
Belle was quiet. Finally, she tearfully confessed, “That would be nice.”
He offered her a smile even though she still wasn’t looking. “I’m glad you think so. We’ll do our best to make it worth your while.” He hesitantly continued. “Did Starline do anything else?”
She shook her head. “He just… listened to me talk a-about Dad. About home, Windmill Village, and how the villagers kicked me out after the Metal Virus cleared up. I got so mad, but it didn’t matter. He didn’t care. He doesn’t care at all about what he did. He only wanted the code.”
“Code…?” At that, Tails shot another glance in their captor’s direction, though the platypus had since turned his attention to the monitor at Tails’ side, turned so that the fox couldn’t read any of the details. Were Belle’s readings stashed away in that device? … No. At least, it wasn’t just her information. Starline was gathering his vitals as well. But why? From the sounds of things, he was trying to get a reaction out of Belle earlier, and now, he was… testing Tails? Did he truly want him to uncover the motivations behind their kidnappings or was he simply fishing for another set of reactions from a different subject? He wouldn’t put it past Starline to have something of a sadistic streak – most villains lately did – but not one without purpose. If that was all he did, there had to have been some sort of incentive, something to be gained…
Why him? Why Belle? Her thoughts and feelings, and his-
Was he trying to record them both?
Was Starline in his head right now?
A delighted laugh at his side told him that yes, he probably was.
“Positively remarkable, young Master Prower! You are truly one of a kind.” The platypus’ hands clapped together. “It is no wonder Sonic has prevailed for so long! He is powerful on his own, but you, you can keep pace with him, you adapt to his spontaneity and can plan in the heat of the moment so that he is successful in his every endeavor, no matter how foolish or impossible.  It is little wonder that the two of you alone keep Doctor Eggman on his toes, despite his armies, his keen intellect, and his prowess…” He stood to approach Tails again, looking down upon him with glee. “You truly are the greatest of combinations.”
That would have been a heart-warming compliment, had it not come from the mouth of a madman. As it stood, the fox had to resist the urge to squirm under that predatory gaze. He would not give Belle another reason to be afraid.
“And, in spite of knowing all of that,” Tails mildly remarked, “you brought me straight to your base.”
Starline was likely to overestimate himself. In his eyes, he had a useful enemy at his mercy. He was less likely to seriously consider the fact that, in the process, he had invited that very foe into his base, to say nothing of the others that would come knocking down his door later.
… Let him read those thoughts.
“Is that a threat?” The doctor mockingly inquired, unfazed and clearly quite confident. “You hardly have the advantage, fox.”
“I've gotten out of stickier situations.” This wasn't even the first time somebody thought to make a labrat of him, his first encounter with the Deadly Six coming to mind. … Hopefully, this wasn't going to become a trend.
“Perhaps, but I've taken precautions. Escape won't come easily for you.” The villain adjusted his glove with a self-assured smirk. “You are now quite the valuable asset to my plans.”
“Which are…?” Tails pressed, earning him a condescending pat on the head that made his skin crawl.
“All in due time, little specimen. As it stands, I've already shared too much with you, and I really must get back to work. You have such fascinating insights; it’s a pity we won’t be discussing this further, seeing how you will have no recollection of this conversation,” he coolly lamented, hand shifting from his bangs to his eyes.
“Now, it is time for you to go back to sleep.”
So... yup! Here's a glimpse of a brainworm I've had for a little while regarding Issue #36. It's a little rough and is absolutely a WIP (the end is particularly prone to change), but I felt like sharing a bit of it! Hope whoever finds it likes it! :)

Okay, I love this so much. Payos is doing everything in an effort to stay at Potae's side, to be there for him and with him... and when he tries to be honest to give Tae what he truly wants... Tae is upset. What Tae wants is Payos at his side and with the same passion and so Payos has to constantly hide himself in order to stay at his side. Honestly, they break my heart in this episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My adoration of Payos grows and grows. He's just so in love and trying so hard and just... just doing his best. But also especially painful because this is happening entirely because of something Tae did that also breaks Payos heart and just... how do I handle this kind of love and loyalty? How do you handle that!? Just watching this is heartbreaking because first Payos has to watch all the girls Tae is flirting with get revenge and then he has to force him to go try out.
Seriously, Payos, beloved boy what do you see in Tae? Oh, passive and loyal blue boys, you make me hurt for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Payos trying to follow Tae's passion even when he doesn't share it because it lets him stay at his side and because of how Tae treats him as long as he's the one there... oof.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is why Payos stays and why he loves so hard and so much and fights so hard to stay at Tae's side no matter what he does. He hears that and his heart screams and he cannot move away, cannot let go, cannot tell the truth. He is entirely lost in that, in being the only one he has, in being important to Tae no matter what else might happen around them.

Once again, tumblr is holding my drafts hostage. I don’t understand why I can’t edit anything. So screenshot it is! 🤷🏼‍♀️
Tumblr media
Now I am scared to even draft on here. 🥲 Probable typos, I’m in line getting tacos 🫠
Anyways, sorry this took so long! I find that during the week I’m not capable of allowing myself the creative freedom to write. Too many stressors!!
This is suuuuuper cute and hilarious to me! Lololol. And some of this might be short because I am actually still tired asf. Sort of tailored this their characteristics — prideful Madara, Submissive Obi, catch me if you can Shisui, and proper Itachi.
SFW; superiority complex Madara; shy Obi; enthralled Shisui; whipped Itachi.
Madara:
Immediately is thrown off center by this girl’s audacious behavior. Did she just spit at him? Ah hell no! Makes it his personal mission to take her down a few pegs. Absolutely does not tolerate a woman with more balls than him. Tries to subdue her, but she is too quick it seems. ‘Another Sharingan wielder, I see.’
Heh. Yeaaa, he is going to pretend like her insubordination or her being almost equally matched isn’t a huge turn on, this girl is just so brazen. She wears male captains livery and it drives him wild to no end wondering what she would look like in his. Madara will not admit any of that though, it would be accepting defeat. Oozes clan pride as she counters his every advance on her. If he was two steps ahead, it felt like she was six.
Obito:
Lol. Why am I like this with him? The second this girl overpowers him he is embarrassingly hard and emotionally stunted. She just gracefully kicked his ass and made a fool out of him! So he is going to avoid her at all costs, watching her from the shadows. Just…waiting to be her personal punching bag again. Lol. Anything to feel her soft hands on him. She is smart, Obi not so much. Catches on to his little game and says, ‘I think you just want me to put you out.’
‘Yes.’ Which is a complete understatement.
Shisui:
Let’s not bullshit here, Shisui was a bit worried when she made to fist him in the dick. He yielded as a last resort, those are incredibly sensitive and precious to him. They hold his next of kin, that and, he memory served him well. That shit fucking hurt. Offers this girl his hand as a truce, and then pulls her in to ask if she would go on a date with him. Heh. Yea, she would. A girl that wasn’t afraid to get a little dirty and even fight a bit unfair was someone he needed to have close. Not make an enemy of, probably almost falls in love with her if she picks some of the gravel off his shirt too.
Itachi:
Oof. Did this girl really tell him to eat shit? That’s the most profane language he’s ever heard out of a woman’s mouth. Itachi is good mannered, a genius and a gentleman. Though some weird feeling in the depths of him has his interests piqued. She didn’t act anything like your average kunoichi. Enjoyed pushing his buttons and Itachi liked the push and pull. Purposely widened the threshold of how far he could play this little cat and mouse game.

Typing out long posts is kinda hard rn but my thoughts after playing Hyrule Warriors today are as follows:
Love how Lana is looking at Link all wistfully literally all the time. Especially when Shiek is there... Poor Lana. You just need to find some other nice blond twink there's lots out there you know
Oh also later when she just tells Link to watch out and not anyone else standing there who is also very much in danger. girl you could not be more obvious if you tried.
Gate of souls area is spoooooky. Also has cactuses and I don't know why? I guess it's sort of desert-y. I like the curly trees though.
Cia please put on a real shirt my Dad and little siblings are watching me play here and you're just making it awkward for everyone
...I will say though I love her bird mask with the glowing eyes that thing slaps
Maybe it's just because I play botw a lot, but Link (and everyone really) seems so expressive?? Like he makes all of these small expressions all the time and it's so nice seeing him emote when things happen to him.
Gosh I can only imagine the impact of other times literally being yeeted and overlapping into Hyrule, things must be a disaster by the time they fix everything. Not to mention what it's like for someone just living in Hyrule, oof can you imagine?? suddenly death mountain is in your backyard.
Sheik and Impa are so funnyyyyy
Impa: so who's your tribe leader?
Sheik: well um. you. since you're the tribe leader.
Impa: well yes except I have never seen you in my life before last week so SOMEONE'S lying.
abdhdgfhjnhdj she is two steps away from ripping off her mask and getting answers
also how has nobody realized who Sheik is yet oh my goodness IMPA. Link has an excuse of barely knowing her but you?? are her bodyguard??? and she literally has (sorry, had) the triforce of wisdom. I guess you could argue magic is at work here but really Impa.
and finally, screw death mountain and it's endless bombchus and boulders all my homies hate death mountain and it's endless bombchus and boulders

Tumblr media
It had been a very exhausting day. Actually, exhausting was not enough to encapsulate the plethora of emotions boiling inside you or the way your body was feeling — your arms were aching so hard you almost dropped your bag on the way home more than three times, your legs were trembling like jelly and your eyelids were so heavy they were threatening to close against your will. But you had to at least get home first and collapsing in the middle of the street as cars were passing by wasn't on your to do list that day.
But there was something you haven't done yet. One last bullet point that desperately needed to get checked. You wouldn't relax unless you were completing that last task. That's why you were now almost running towards your apartment, high heels echoing in the silent and chilly night. The light in front of the apartment building was slightly flickering again, the buzz of the lightbulb giving its last breath filling your ears as you were fishing for your keys in your purse. You cursed under your breath — where were those damn keys?!
Everything seemed to be running in slow motion. The only thing engulfing your head was the image of the last task of the day needing to be tackled. Your blood was pumping furiously in your veins as if you had been fighting with a lion and a bunch of pirates before arriving home. A tiny moth flew in front of you, entering the building through an open window, as if it was mocking you for being a human who needed a keypad in order to enter their own home. You huffed and puffed, getting more and more agitated.
Finally, you found the keys hidden right at the bottom of your purse. It was as if the whole world wanted to piss you off by keeping you away from your task.
You couldn't even remember how you got in the elevator and then unlocked the apartment door. Everything happened so fast.
A smell of freshly heated food with a tint of male cologne filled your nostrils. Soft music notes carassed your cheeks, dim warm light kissed your eyelids and the fluffy carpet hugged your toes, inviting you in. You smiled to yourself like an idiot, taking a deep breath.
Your heart was on the brink of exploding. But not yet, you wouldn't allow it.
You dropped your purse on the ground, threw your jacket in the hanger carelessly and started running. Nothing could have made you run like that in that moment apart from what was waiting for you on the couch of your living room in a dark blue hoodie and sweatpants with a cat in his lap.
"'Night, Y/n, how was toda- OOF"
Dori was smart enough to predict the disaster that was to follow and quickly left her spot from Minho's lap when you decided to throw your body like a sack of potatoes towards him. You landed with half of your body on the expandable couch and with the other half on your boyfriend. Your hands crawled on his chest and reached his cheeks. He stared at you, blinking like a confused cat with puckered lips because you were gently pushing on his cheeks.
"I'm guessing you'le bely tiled?" he tried to speak with lips like a fish's and you giggled, tucking your nose in his chest and releasing his face.
"That hurt, honey", he whined as you scooted closer to him, wrapping your leg around his figure. Your skirt slightly rose up your leg, so he covered your lower half with the blanket that had been previously warmed up by him. You hummed as the crazy demons that were trampling in your mind burned in the cozy feeling and slowly perished.
"I could die happy now" you mumbled with your face hidden in his hoodie.
"Go ahead", Minho said, surrounding your shoulders with his arm. "Send me a letter from hell".
You gently punched his stomach with your fist.
"How rude! How could you know I'd end up in hell and not in heaven?!"
"With your demon-like behaviour and bewitching being? Darling, you're a walking sin."
You raised your head to glance at his face, chills traveling across your body like a gang of dancing mariachi.
"Wow", you said. "You got me there, Mr Darcy."
The corner of his lips lifted in a smug smirk upon perceiving your reaction.
"What, has my compliment vanished all your braveness? You were so determined to fight me a second ago."
"You're talking as if you didn't just admit I have bewitched you", you scoffed, placing your head on his shoulder so you could look at the side of his face better.
"Well, you do it everyday. I'm not ashamed of speaking about it. How could I not?"
Oh, he did not.
You felt his hand sneak up around you, his fingers traveling across your spine. You rolled around above him before his hand could find your bottom.
"Auch! Witch, what have I done to you?!"
"Keep those grabby hands to yourself, mister", you pushed his chest with your index finger. "Or I'll have to cast a spell and transform those fingers of yours in spaghetti."
"Babe, I don't think that you'd like that", he raised his eyebrow, looking you dead in the eyes. You couldn't believe he was so blunt that night.
"Are you trying to imply something?"
"I don't know, am I?"
Your faces were inches apart, your lips almost touching his.
"Hm. Maybe that tongue needs to disappear as well."
"Oh, honey, you make bad decisions upon bad decisions. You know, it's your loss, not mine. "
"Are you so sure about that?"
His long eyelashes were tickling your face.
"I know you, baby. You wouldn't resist two days."
"Oho, cocky, are we?"
"Hm, just like you like it, my witch."
You didn't push his hands away this time. He grabbed your waist with his hands and gently pushed your body up so that your lips could finally touch. You were fully draped over him now, with your hands on his chest. His fingers tangled in your hair, softly massaging the scalp, making you hum into the kiss. You felt him smile as his other hand placed itself on your back, pushing you closer. You pulled away from his face and let him intertwine his legs with yours as your bodies mingled together, almost becoming one.
You would have fallen asleep there if only your annoying stomach didn't start making weird sounds. Minho giggled, cooing at you.
"Aw, is honey hungry? Why didn't you say so from the beginning?"
You mumbled, feeling your face heat up.
He turned his head with his ear towards your mouth, mockingly.
"What? I didn't heaaar youuu", he trailed off, amusement clear in his voice.
"I said", you spoke up, "I wanted to cuddle first!"
You smirked seeing his face contort because you spoke too loudly in his ear. He frowned, blinking repeatedly and slowly.
"Well, your belly doesn't want cuddles."
"Then my belly is a loser."
"Hey", he retorted, patting your lower back. "Your belly is cute. Don't insult it."
"But it's standing in the way."
He laughed, a series of giggles ending in an "ah", almost like a sigh, while he was carefully prying away from you. You pouted, but he quickly pecked you on the lips before disappearing in the kitchen.
"I know something both you and your stomach would love", his voice floated to your ears. "Pancakes and cuddles?"
You smiled, hugging the blanket and your knees closer to your chest, hiding your nose in it, inhaling Minho's familiar scent.
My final task is about to be completed.

Feels Like Home [03]
Summary: When an unexpected three-week break between Monza and Singapore finds Daniel back on his farm in Perth he’s desperate to use this time to clear his mind, figure out his future in Formula One, and find his way back. He didn’t expect a new neighbour, a sassy two-year old, and three alpacas would make him realise that sometimes, what you’re looking for is right in front of you.
Pairing: Daniel Ricciardo x reader (unnamed OFC)
Warnings: Language
Word count: 4.6k
AN: Daniel in this chapter is just... Oof. I hope you like it, if you could take some time to leave a comment that would mean so much :) ♥
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Alright, Boss,” Daniel jokes with a wide grin, “tell me what to do.” It’s his first official day as her farmhand and even though she told him yesterday what she expects from him he might have been too busy looking at her to really hear anything she said.
“Well,” she draws out, looking from him to the alpacas and back, “it’s Sunday, so it’s time for their weekly bath, maybe you could-”
“I’m sorry, what?” Daniel eyes the girls suspiciously, not sure how he feels about bathing three killing machines who could take him out in a second. Try explaining that to Blake, he thinks to himself with a wry smile.
“Well yeah, I mean, they’re outside all week long, so I usually take them down to the river on Sundays and give them a nice wash.” She nods towards her truck, “There’s a bottle of shampoo and a brush in my truck.”
Ok. He’s got this. This is nothing compared to driving a race car at three hundred k’s per hour, right? It’s just three alpacas, and they’ve probably been bathed lots of times before, and if she can do it he surely can. Right? Daniel swallows hard, mentally preparing himself for the task at hand by taking a deep breath, trying not to show fear because he’s convinced the girls will pick up on that and- Ok. One at a time. He'll start with Blanche, she's definitely the least threatening, then Babs, and Betsy last.
“I usually take all three of them at the same time,” she says then. “They get a little antsy when they’re separated.”
Oh. Ok. He risks another glance at the girls who are huddled together in the corner of the paddock, eating some grass and probably having a better time than he is right now. But. One alpaca or three alpacas, same difference, right? So why does his voice come out all high and squeaky when he tells her, “Yeah, nah, no worries.”
Next to him he can hear her let out a laugh and he’s about to tell her that this might not be the best idea but then her hand is on his arm and she looks up at him with a mischievous smile, “I was just messing with you, Daniel.”
“Oh, thank God,” he breathes before he composes himself. Or tries to, anyway, “I mean, I was going to do it but-”
“Yeah, nah, I could totally see that,” she jokes, her hand squeezing his arm as she winks at him. “Why don’t you fill up their feeder inside and I’ll get started on cleaning out the shed?”
“That I can do,” Daniel agrees easily enough. He takes the bucket of grains out of her truck and starts making his way over to the shed. As soon as he opens the gate he can see the alpacas hurrying over to him and so he makes a quick dash to the shed to avoid being trampled to death by a herd of angry alpacas. Or at least, three very hungry ones. Still they catch up with him and he lets out an embarrassing yelp when Blanche head buts him in the back, “Jeepers, Blanche!”
“She likes you,” she says from where she’s leaning on her pitch fork.
“I like you too,” Daniel tells the white alpaca in a soft voice, trying not to spook her, “but I’m gonna need you to keep your distance, ma’am.”
***
When you hit the call button you take a deep breath, trying to settle the nerves in your stomach that have formed a nice little knot there ever since Granddad suggested asking Daniel to help you out and gave you his number, and bite your lip while you wait for the call to go through.
He answers with a hesitant, “Hello?”
“Hi Daniel, it’s-”
“Well, hello neighbour,” he says then and you swear you can feel his megawatt smile beaming at you through the phone. “Everything alright? Is this you calling me to tell me what an excellent job I did today?”
“Uhm, no-” You can’t help but laugh, “But sure. Thank you for today, Daniel. You did an excellent job.”
“Thank you, that sounded very genuine and not at all prompted,” he laughs.
You nod, even though he can’t see you. “I uh-” you clear your throat, trying to get rid of your pinched voice, “I wanted to ask if you maybe could do me a favour tomorrow?”
“Hmm,” he hums in reply and you think you can hear him sit down somewhere, “that depends.”
“On?”
“On what the favour is. I’ve got no problem feeding the girls but if you’re going to tell me that because it’s Monday it’s time for Oscar’s his weekly bath I might-”
You can’t help the laugh that escapes you, “No.” A little cheeky then, “That’s not until next Friday anyway.” He chuckles and you can feel your nerves settle down a little, “I do have to take Granddad into town tomorrow though. The doctor wants to see him for a follow-up and so I was wondering if you maybe could watch Ellie for an hour or two? Mrs Mackenzie was supposed to watch her but she’s not feeling too well, so- Normally I would take Ellie with me but it’s right around her nap time and she gets a little grumpy when she doesn’t get enough sleep so I’d rather-”
“You want me to hang out with Miss Ellie?”
“Well, she’d be asleep for most of it,” you try to reassure him because he sounds a little- hesitant, maybe. “Really it’s just babysitting her for two hours tops but if you don’t-”
“I’d love to,” he interrupts you quickly. “What time do you need me to come over?”
“We have to leave at one-”
“I’ll be there.”
You can’t help the smile that grows ever wider, “Thank you so much, Dan. I really appre-”
“Stop it,” he counters, no doubt with a grin. “I’m happy to help out.”
You have to bite your tongue to keep from thanking him again and so instead you simply say, “Perfect. I’ll see you tomorrow then?”
“Yep. Catch you later, neighbour.”
***
“Thanks for another great workout, Mikey, it’s been swell,” Daniel says once they’re done with their Monday morning session. “I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
Michael eyes him suspiciously, “You’re awfully chipper today-”
“What?” Daniel chuckles and shrugs, “Am I not allowed to enjoy working out?”
“You are,” Michael draws out, “it’s just that usually you don’t.”
“It was a good workout, mate,” Daniel says as he claps Michael’s back. Of course he knows exactly what brought on his good mood, because he’s been looking forward to babysitting Ellie all day, but he doesn’t necessarily need Michael to know that.
“Sure,”
“What?” Daniel says again. “Don’t doubt yourself, Mikey. Your workouts are great!”
“I’m not sure what’s going on here,” Michael says, circling his finger in front of Daniel’s chest, “but keep up with the flattery, mate. It’s better than your usual complaining.”
“Awesome.” Daniel risks a quick glance at his watch then and sees it’s already a quarter past twelve and he still needs to shower and- “It’s been swell, mate. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Yep,” Michael agrees bluntly. He narrows his eyes at Daniel then, “Do I need Blake to schedule a drug test or something?” He lowers his voice, “Are you involved in illegal activities, Dan? I mean, I’m not against the use of CBD oil but I don’t think smoking weed is-”
“Out!” Daniel pushes his friend towards the door with a shake of his head even though he can’t help the smile that tugs on the corners of his mouth, “Don’t be a nosy Nellie, mate. It doesn’t suit you.”
Michael gives him the finger but then heads to his car and so Daniel turns on his heels and heads for the shower, and if he’s already picked out the outfit he’s going to wear, so what? It’s efficient.
He’s out of the house twenty minutes later and when he pulls up in front of Oscar’s house there’s still ten minutes to spare. Daniel knocks and then lets himself in like he always does, finding his neighbour in the kitchen, enjoying a cup of tea, “Hiya Oscar.”
“Hi Danny,” Oscar replies, his face lighting up with a smile.
“How you doing, mate?”
“Not too bad,” Oscar agrees easily enough. As always he’s a man of little words and doesn’t really elaborate. Instead he nods to the ceiling, “She’s just putting Ellie to bed, shouldn’t take long.”
“Oh, that’s ok,” Daniel says as he sits down in one of the kitchen chairs after helping himself to a cup of coffee.
“Listen, Dan,” Oscar starts and for some reason Daniel knows whatever comes next is important, “they’ve been through a lot, both of them. It wasn’t easy when Ellie’s dad-” Oscar shakes his head, “That’s not really my story to tell but I need you to understand that she doesn’t trust people easily, so for her to ask you to watch Ellie, the one person who means more to her than anyone, well-” he locks eyes with Daniel, “It’s a big ask from her and a big responsibility for you. Don’t muck about, son. Ok? Not just now, with babysitting Ellie, but with her as well. I might not be as quick as I was before but I won’t hesitate to hunt you down if you ever hurt her.”
“Understood,” Daniel says with a nod because he does. He could tell she was hesitant to accept his help when he first offered it and even more so when she called him yesterday and so he wants to do anything but hurt the trust she’s put in him.
“Good,” Oscar says, taking another sip of his tea.
When he hears her coming down the stairs he leans in a little closer to Oscar and tells him, “I’m not gonna let her down, promise.”
“That’s a big promise to make, Danny,” Oscar counters with his eyebrows raised.
“I know,” Daniel gives him a big smile, “but I intend to keep it.”
It’s then she walks into the kitchen, “Hi.”
“Hi,” Daniel beams back at her, a little taken aback by how different she looks out of her normal work clothes because even though she’s wearing jeans and a simple black top she looks absolutely gorgeous. He clears his throat and tries not to stare when he asks, “Ellie’s asleep?”
“Yep,” she nods. “Out like a light. I doubt she’ll wake up before we get back but just in case there’s a bottle of milk in the fridge that you just need to heat up and if she wants she can have a banana.”
“Gotcha.”
“You have my number so call me if there’s anything, ok?” She waits until he nods before she casually adds, “She likes you so I don’t think she’ll mind you being there but if she does throw a little tantrum-”
“I’ll call,” Daniel adds, trying to reassure her that he’s got this while still basking in the fact that Ellie likes him.
She turns towards Oscar then, “Ready to go?”
Daniel helps Oscar to her car and promises once again to call if there’s anything before he heads back inside and settles on the couch with his phone, making good use of his time by catching up on some emails.
Ellie wakes up somewhere around two-thirty and Daniel’s on his feet at her first cry, a little nervous when he walks up the stairs to where Oscar told him her room is. The little girl is sitting in her cot, looking at him with big eyes and so he lowers his voice, trying to let her know it’s ok when he says, “Hi Miss Ellie. How you going?”
Ellie looks up at him, her little eyebrows knitted together as she studies him for a moment, but then she must recognise him because she holds out her hands to him, “Danny.”
“That’s right,” Daniel says as he picks her up and kisses her cheek. “How you going, sleepyhead?”
She leans back a little in his arms, looking over his shoulder, “Momma?”
“Momma’s taking Granddad to see the doctor, sweetheart,” Daniel explains as he gently wipes her hair out of her face. “She’ll be back soon.”
Ellie seems to think about it for a second but then seems content with his answer and lets her head rest against his shoulder, “Milk?”
Daniel laughs, “Yep. Let’s go get you some milk, huh?” He pokes her side then, “And maybe a banana?”
Ellie’s head shoots up, her eyes wide, whispering a quiet, “‘Nana?”
“Banana,” Daniel confirms quietly as he turns around. He makes his way down the stairs carefully before he walks to the kitchen and sits her down in her high chair.
Ellie’s quietly singing to herself as he waits for the microwave to heat up her bottle and at first he can’t make out what she’s going on about but then the microwave beeps and it’s quiet in the kitchen again and he hears her loud and clear, “Danny, banana. Danny, banana. Danny, banana.”
Daniel presses a kiss to the top of her head as he puts her bottle down in front of her, “You’re the coolest kid ever, Miss Ellie." When she smiles up at him he grins back at her, "Don’t tell my niece and nephew I said that, ok? Our little secret.”
***
It’s close to three when you pull up to the house and part of you wants to rush inside, to check up on Ellie, and Daniel, but you know you can’t just leave Granddad behind. Instead you turn to him, “I’ll go ask Daniel to come help, ok?”
Your granddad grunts something in reply and you can’t help but smile because you know it’s nothing personal, know it’s just because he hates not being able to do something as simple as getting out of a car on his own and if anything you admire the way he still cares about his independence.
You hear him continue his rant as you step out of the car but don't really pay it any mind, music coming from the house drawing your attention instead. When you walk past Homer, who's curled up on the old couch on the front porch, he looks at you as if to say he doesn't know what's going on either. You pat his head and tell him, "Good boy," before you let yourself in and head for the kitchen.
The loud music means they haven't heard you come in and so you allow yourself a moment to take it all in - Daniel with the sleeves of his t-shirt pushed up, excitedly showing off his tattoos to Ellie, pointing at them and explaining to her what they are. Ellie seems absolutely enthralled by all the pictures etched into his skin, her little fingers now tracing the lines of a cupid on his arm. You feel something settle inside of your chest as you watch your daughter and Daniel together, both of them so at ease, and it's something you haven’t felt in a long time. Before you have time to explore it some more your daughter spots you and so you push yourself off from where you were leaning against the doorframe and walk over to where Ellie’s sitting in her high chair, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, “Hi bub. You having fun?"
Daniel nods, "She's been like this ever since she woke up half an hour ago," just as Ellie points at Daniel’s tattoo, “Cupid!”
“Yeah, that’s a cupid,” you agree with a smile, trying your hardest not to stare at Daniel's tan arms but failing miserably and so you clear your throat to distract yourself.
If Daniel notices anything he's kind enough not to mention it and instead puts his sweater back on. Once that's over his head he looks at you with a grin, "What you do to the old man? Leave him behind at the nursing home?"
You laugh and shake your head, "He's in the car. Would you mind helping him out?"
"On it," Daniel says with a click of his tongue, pointing a pair of finger guns at the two of you before he pulls a face and turns around.
Both you and Ellie watch in silence as he walks out of the kitchen, Ellie letting out a quiet, "Danny," when he turns the corner and you letting out a heavy sigh at the same time. When Ellie looks up at you, you smile back at her, drawing out a "Yeah."
Ellie, bless her, claps her hands in response and then blows a raspberry at you.
You comb your fingers through her hair absentmindedly, "Same, bub-" Another sigh then, "Same."
Daniel and Granddad make it inside not much later, but it’s only Daniel who returns to the kitchen, running a hand through his hair as he says, “He asked me to put him in the living room.”
“He’s a little grumpy,” you whisper with a wink. “Hasn’t had his afternoon nap yet so-” you see-saw your hand and let the rest of that sentence hang in the air unspoken.
“Gotcha,” Daniel says with a grin, looking a bit unsure of himself. He shakes his head then and points at the window, “I don’t know about you two but maybe we could go for a walk? It’s nice enough outside and I don’t mind stretching my legs for a bit.”
You look down at Ellie, “You wanna go for a walk, bub?”
Ellie’s eyes light up and she whispers a happy, “Yeah,” before she looks at Daniel, “Come with?”
“Yep,” Daniel nods. “I’m definitely coming with, my friend.”
“I’ll just go get her changed real quick,” you tell Daniel as you pick Ellie up from her seat. “Shouldn’t take long.”
“I’ll wait outside for you,” Daniel offers with a grin. “Wouldn’t want to disturb the old man during his nap.”
When you come down a little later, Ellie in a pair of pale green dungarees and a fleece made from Alpaca wool, you find Daniel sitting next to Homer on the porch swing, albeit with some distance between them. You can’t help but tease, “Cautious of the dog too, Ricciardo?”
“Yes, ma’am,” he replies with a nod, rubbing his hands on the fabric of his jeans. “Although I trust him more than I do the alpacas.”
You click your tongue, “Better not let the girls hear that.” Ellie starts wriggling in your arms and so you put her down, watching as she wobbles over to the apple orchard, where Granddad put up a swing for you in one of the trees when you were Ellie’s age. You look at Daniel and shrug, “Guess we’re going that way.”
Ellie’s surprisingly quick on her little legs and already waiting for you at the swing by the time you catch up with her. Daniel doesn’t hesitate and picks her up so he can put her into the seat, gently pushing her once she’s in, drawing excited giggles from her, his own smile growing wider with every push.
You and Daniel talk about the farm mostly, how it was back when you were a kid and how much has changed since your grandmother passed away a few years ago. When he asks if you could ever see yourself moving here full time, you hesitate, “I’m not sure.” You shrug then, “I think I could manage what little livestock we have now but I’m not sure if I could be the best mum to Ellie if I have the farm to worry about.”
“Hmm,” he agrees quietly, encouraging you to go on.
“It’s a lot of work,” you explain. “I mean, if it wasn't just me maybe it’d be different but-”
“Can I-” Daniel stops himself but when you nod, because you know what he’s going to ask, he clears his throat and continues, “I hope you don’t mind me asking, but where’s Ellie’s dad?”
“Dunno.” You smile to let him know it’s ok, “We were together for six or seven months before I found out he was married, so I broke it off and told him I never wanted to see him again. Two months later I found out I was pregnant.”
“Does he-”
“He knows about Ellie, but he already has a wife and kids so-” You look at Ellie, “He signed away his rights when she was born and asked not to bother him anymore.”
“Wow,” Daniel shakes his head. “What an a-” He looks at Ellie and corrects himself just in time, “What a despicable human being.”
You shrug, “It’s fine. For me it’s better this way but-” you swallow hard, trying to get rid of the lump that has started to form in your throat, “I worry about the day Ellie’s going to ask about him, you know? Can you imagine? ‘Oh yeah, funny you should ask, kid, but your dad doesn’t want anything to do with you.’” You scoff, “I hate that he’s put me in that position but on the other hand, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have her so-”
“If it’s any consolation,” Daniel says with a hesitant smile, “she’s a carbon copy of you, both the way she looks and her personality. People will always know she’s your kid.”
“That’s very kind, thank you,” you tell him with a warm smile.
Ellie decides then she’s had enough of the swing and holds up her arms, “Out.”
You can’t help but laugh and nod at your daughter, “You heard her, Daniel. She wants out.”
Daniel laughs and picks up Ellie, lifting her onto his shoulders before he turns to you, “Why don’t you show me your favourite place on the farm?”
“My favourite place,” you echo slowly, trying to choose between the little creek over in the Burned Oak paddock or- Looking at your daughter then, who is giggling with glee from being so high up, the choice is easy, “Ok. Let’s go.” You lead Daniel through the orchard to a field that at first glance doesn’t look like anything special but you know in a few months time will look completely different.
When you reach the gate you look at him from over your shoulder, “This is it.”
“Ok,” he draws out, probably not sure if you’re joking or not.
“You’ll have to come back in December,” you tell him, without thinking much of it, without fully realising you actually want him to come back, want to have him in your life for more than just the two weeks you’re promised now, “the entire place will be covered in poppies. It’s beautiful.” You poke Ellie’s side then, “It’s why her second name is Poppy.”
“Because you love the flowers so much?” Daniel guesses.
“That and because she was born on December third, when they are in full bloom.” You take your phone out of the back pocket of your jeans and pull up your picture gallery, scrolling back to a picture of Ellie’s second birthday, where you took a few pictures of her surrounded by thousands of red poppies. You angle your phone to Daniel, “See?”
“Oh wow.”
“Right?” You smile at Ellie, “A very pretty girl in the middle of some very pretty flowers.”
Ellie yawns in response and when you look at the time on your phone you’re surprised to see it’s already close to five. You look at Daniel, “We should probably head back. Don’t want the wrath of Granddad unleashed on us because of dinner being late.”
Daniel laughs, “Yeah, nah, we could do without.”
***
It’s been less than a week since Daniel offered to help out on the farm, but already you’ve settled into an easy rhythm. You still do your chores around the house in the morning, make lunch, put Ellie down for her nap, and spend some time outside until your granddad calls, have a coffee break, head back outside again together with Ellie for an hour or so until it’s five o’clock and it’s time to make dinner. Or, well, warm up dinner. The meals Daniel brought you only require a few minutes in the microwave and save you so much time.
Daniel usually shows up around five-thirty, entertaining Ellie long enough for you and Granddad to finish your dinner in relative peace before you take Ellie upstairs to get her ready for the night while Daniel and your Granddad drink a cuppa and gossip about the neighbours and whatever footie game was on that day. By now Granddad is a lot more independent around the house, but getting him ready both in the mornings and at night is still something you need to help him with. He seems a bit happier though and in the end that’s all that matters.
Once Ellie is asleep, you and Daniel head outside, taking your Granddad’s ute out to Eagle’s nest to tend to the alpacas. More often than not, Homer jumps into the back of the truck once you set off, having taken a special liking to the alpacas ever since they arrived on the farm a few years ago.
It’s where you find yourself today, an unusually warm Wednesday evening, with Homer dozing off next to the fence while you and Daniel clean out the shed so you can put in fresh hay later. The warmer weather means both you and Daniel have ditched your jackets, Daniel even going as far as taking his sweater off and working in only a t-shirt and so you keep finding yourself stealing glances at his arms and the way his tattoos stand out against his skin.
Of course Daniel catches you looking, “Like what you see?”
Is he flirting with you? If he is, it’s working because you feel the heat rise to your cheeks but try to shrug it off, “I’ve seen better.”
“Hmm,” he teases and throws you a wink. “Let me know if it’s too distracting, babe. I’ll put my sweater back on.”
Babe? Oh God. He really is flirting with you. Fine. Two can play that game, you decide as you lean on your pitchfork, “Are you flexing right now?” You laugh when he seems confused and tease him some more, “Oh my God, you are. You are actually flexing your muscles.”
“Am not,” he shoots back, throwing his spade aside and taking on one of those ridiculous bodybuilder poses, one leg bent as he turns his torso towards you and pumps the muscles in his arms, “Now I am.” He goes through a whole array of poses and ends up with his back towards you, flexing his butt cheeks.
You hate the giggle that escapes you and so you try to play it cool and applaud his efforts instead, holding up an invisible sign, “Ten out of ten, Danny. You have impressed the judges.”
“Judges-” he echoes, “or judge?”
Biting your bottom lip you scrunch your nose, “It takes a lot more than that to impress this judge-” then, because why not, “-babe.”
“Oooh,” Daniel draws out and puts his hand to his chest, pretending to be hurt by your comment, “way to kick me down, boss. Jeepers.”
“You wanna impress me?” You nod towards the last of the dirty hay, “Clean that out for me and then we’ll talk.”
“Or,” Daniel starts, taking a step closer to you and making you look up at him, “I could take you out to dinner on Friday.”
You nod, your throat a little dry from how close he’s standing, “Or you could do that.”
