Cute Kids Casting Call-American Riviera Area
Hi Skippy & Friends-Pilgrim here with some helpful ideas for the limited, overworked staff at the many Carparkle companies. They probably don’t have time to go to the lavatory with so much on their agendas and looming deadlines including a full professional photo shoot for family album; glossy photos of entire new product line of jams, jellies, baked goods and cookware for cyber catalogs not to mention the ongoing humanitarian projects worldwide demanding new initiatives and funding…geez…I feel for you-feel free to use any suggestions here and good luck!
Trade publications: “Free pedicures for Moms of cute children while they are photographed in garden settings. There is no pay but you can relax in our luxurious location, lounging around our pool while your kids are having fun modeling. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! As our kid interns grow older, they are referred to top agents and leave here with beautiful portfolios of still and video imagery by the best in the industry. Email or call asap as production is on a tight deadline. Agents, be sure to tell your clients that all parents and children must sign a non-disclosure agreement and will waive their rights and renumerations from images used for perpetuity. If any breach to this contract is discovered all legal means will be forthwith.”
Local newspaper ads: “Casting calls for 5-year boys and 3-year-old girls. No other requirements necessary. Show up early and receive a free tote bag of goodies including books and movies for the whole family. Snacks provided and parents can relax at the luxurious location. Have your own transportation. Bring fresh clothes that fit your child and make sure their hair is washed.”
Bulletin Boards around town: “Kids wanted immediately to model for a local company. No pay but free autographs, books and movies will be handed out as long as they last. Some English required. No agents. Chance of a lifetime!” Over and out from a sunny but chilly Cape Cod.
Look at you dear Pilgrim!  Always there to lend a helping hand!  I think Harry and his wife should hire you!  😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Peanut Butter and Roulette
Okay, new party game based on this ongoing discussion
Make finger sandwiches with same same bread, same peanut butter, but a different filler for each one. Number them randomly, everyone picks a number, and on the count of three eats the sandwich.
IMPORTANT: This is not peanut butter and [whatever gross thing you can think of], every filler ingredient has to be something that someone, somewhere, regularly eats and enjoys on a peanut butter sandwich.
SUGGESTED FILLERS:
Jelly/jam of all flavors
Preserves
Banana
Honey
Pickles
Peanuts
Marshmallow fluff
Onion
Cheese
The funny part comes from the fact that different people will find different fillers weird and others completely normal. Variations include Musical Sandwiches, Blindfolded Guess The Filler, All Jam Edition, and True Roulette, where every sandwich is plain peanut butter except one.

The Unexpected Second Life of Bree Tanner - Chapter 11 -
~ New Chapter! ~
Bree POV
It was the start of a new week in the common household, this activities flavor of the week: making and painting bird houses with Dr. Cullen. He was trying to get me to call Carlisle but that was too weird, I think that’s why we were making birdhouses in the family car/wood shop. Now that things had “calmed down” he wanted to spend time getting to know the new member of the family and trying to help me learn to control my murderous urges. I’m discovering the Cullens are in incredibly optimistic bunch, it seems like they’ve had almost 2 years straight of nonstop disasters going on and yet somehow they think everything’s clearing up. I’m currently taking bets on what the next life threatening crisis will be. My money is on Mothman being real or Emmett accidentally ripping somebody’s head off while wrestling. Carlisle was trying to brighten me up. He mentioned he had noticed that I seem to be quiet the last few days after my near mess with a werewolf pack.
Following Bella’s suggestion I had asked Rosalie what on earth was going on. She told me that:
 werewolves existed
they could kill vampires
the Cullens had an ongoing uneasy truce that allowed them to live in the area without bloodshed.
However our requirement was that no one would be fed on in the town, and the Cullens weren’t allowed to make any new vampires. My addition to the family didn’t technically break the truce but the werewolves were uneasy about having a feral bloodthirsty new vampire around. Fair enough, I watched a newborn pretend to be Hulk and smash up a car at 3 AM in the morning, we weren’t exactly a subtle bunch. I asked Rosalie how they were getting around the fact that transforming Bella would be breaking the treaty, and it seems that the Pack were deciding to let this one slide rather than wager senseless war.
This new information did leave me in a bit of a storm cloud as I wondered what other things they were hiding from me, I was excited for the day that Bella would be transformed and I could have somebody who would be able to tell me the answers to all my questions and whose mind couldn’t be read by Edward.
However the real reason I was in a “mood” was not because of the discovery of werewolves or the fact everyone seemed to be lying about something. It was because during my attempt to not eat Bella I had accidentally gotten a cinnamon stick stuck in my nose and I don’t know how to tell anyone...
I’ve been trying to get it out for the past couple days but it’s really jammed up there. I know Dr. Cullen is a doctor and could probably get it out but it’s too embarrassing to admit it, and I am not giving Edward any ammunition for insults towards me. Adding insult to injury I tried putting up another cinnamon stick to dislodge it and that one partially got stuck so now there’s two fragments of cinnamon sticks stuck up my nose and every time I breathe I get a whiff of cinnamon. I think the petroleum jelly is helping it stay stuck up there. At this point I’m just kind of hoping that eventually it’ll disintegrate out of me.  Because I had let it go on way too long before telling someone. It made for an interesting experience of Carlisle congratulating me on finding a way to make sure I didn’t eat Bella and I’m nodding along all the while there’s a cinnamon stick jammed up my nostrils.
I miss being able to breathe without smelling cinnamon…
I was really glad of Bella being within 10 feet of me didn’t end in disaster. Even with the cinnamon sticks mostly blocking her smell, my first instinct was to take her head and slam it into the wall, crack open her skull, and start slurping up for blood. The frenzy that Victoria had whipped us into was fading so I was able to hold back the urges. However, a constant diet of animal blood seemed to increase my longing for humans.
I’m so hungry for blood I would take a random hooker, and they usually are riddled with drugs. Sometimes the street drugs I had added a little je ne sais quoi if I’m being honest. It was like adding crushed red pepper flakes to a meal. Sort of, it was the closest vampires got to hot sauce. I tried to focus my attention on the birdhouse we were building.
Dr. Cullen was having me cut off the size of the wood, telling me that working with stuff that required a delicate touch would help me learn how to control my new strength. I feel like I had pretty good control over it. I have been living as a vampire in a basement without breaking everything in sight. But I didn’t protest, I had just broken their floor.
Painting the birdhouse is nice, Dr. Cullen has the exact same skill set as me and it was nice doing an activity with somebody who wasn’t leagues out of my skill set. Dr. Cullen is a nice man, I can see why everyone likes him. He had a way of speaking that made you feel like he really did care about you. I still couldn’t get over the fact that he was a doctor, and has been on for centuries. He said the smell of blood didn’t even bother him anymore. I couldn’t imagine having such good control over his skills that he could work with humans without accidentally hurting them or eating them. I wonder if I would be able to do something like that one day. I never found the idea of being a doctor very exciting but the idea that I could have the ability intrigued me.
He asked a few questions, nothing too invasive, about my family. I gave short answers without going into detail. My dad sucked and my mom left when I was a little kid. It was hard to keep the bitterness out of my voice when I spoke to the fact that she left me. I barely had any memories of her, the most clear one was the pain and grief I felt realizing she was never coming home, my dad moved us out of Nevada after that.
“Is there anyone you’d like to say goodbye too?” he asked gently.
“How? I’m dead.”
“Emmett was the provider for his family, after his accident we arranged for them to be given a bag of fortune. He hoped it would help soften the blow of his loss. Is there anyone who you’d like to do something like that for?”
I shook my head, there wasn’t anyone to miss me that’s why Riley chose me. “You could find my mom,” I tried to joke, “I always wondered what I got felt for, what was so much better than me.” He started to open his mouth, “I don’t want to talk about it Dr… Carlisle. I just want to build birdhouses.” He stayed silent and we went back to our project.
****
A few days later, Rosalie pulled me aside, the house was weirdly empty. “Bree, I need to talk to you.” I didn’t like the look on her face, I started to panic. I was getting kicked out, I was in trouble, they had figured out there were STILL cinnamon sticks up my nose.
“Am I in trouble?”
She shook her head, “No sweetie,” she held my hand, “We found your mom.”
The rock that replaced my heart dropped, “Where is she?” I asked, trying to stay composed.
“She’s dead.”
The world stopped, “I don’t understand, was there an accident?”
Rosalie shook her, she looked at me with such… pity, why? “Bree, sweetheart… she was murdered, by your father.” I said nothing, how did I react to this? Nothing felt real. “You told Carlisle she walked out one day and then you moved to Nevada shortly after? Your mom didn’t leave, your father killed her, he hid her body in the desert. Then fled Nevada with you. The police just found her body, your father has been arrested for her murder… and yours.” I looked up at Rosalie, “You disappeared and they assumed he killed you as well.”
I should say something, I didn’t know what, there were so many thoughts going through my head. And yet, also none at all. “She didn’t leave me?” I finally said, “She didn’t abandon me… to him.” Maybe this moment would be easier if I was still human. Maybe I could handle these emotions better if I could still cry. I’d never know.
Rosalie pulled me into a hug, “I’m so sorry, if there’s anything I can do…” she trailed off.
“I wanna see her.” I pulled away from her embrace, “I wanna see her grave, say goodbye, and apologize.”
“Apologize? For what?”
My voice started cracking, “For hating her.” I started crying, there were no tears, only ugly dry sobs that I screamed into Rosalie’s shoulder.

Oregon grape
Tumblr media
#Oregon grape skin
aquifolium is the state flower of Oregon. It was introduced horticulturally from the Pacific Northwest into Europe in 1822 and is considered an unfamiliar invasive species there, having been particularly successful in central and eastern Germany. Mahonia aquifolium is native to western North America from British Columbia to California and eastward to Idaho and Montana. The flowers provide a food source for insect pollinators and berries are eaten by small birds.Mahonia aquifolium commonly known as Oregon-grape is a species of flowering plant of barberry family (Berberidaceae). Plants containing berberine should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The flowers are edible and can be used to make a lemonade drink or sorbet.Ĭare should be taken when collecting the berries, because the shrub has big thorns. Oregon Grape is also ideal for cordial, as the cooked berries taste a bit like Blackcurrant. The small purple berries of Mahonia spp are quite tart and contain large seeds, but are suitable to make jam, jelly and sauce. Culinary uses and recipes with Oregon Grape
#Oregon grape skin
Oregon grape is also used to treat chronic inflammatory or infected skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis or acne. It also may improve cholesterol levels and it’s used for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Though there is ongoing research, berberine contained in the roots and stems seems to slightly reduce blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. These flowers are followed by racemes of small purple berries covered in a light bloom, which are edible. This evergreen bush is popular in urban parks and council gardens, because it’s a low-maintenance shrub with perfumed yellow flowers that blooms during the winter, when nothing else is flowering. Oregon Holly Grape is not closely related to either holly or grape, though the leaves do look like a holly. The berries of Holly are bright red in colour unlike the purple berries of Oregon Grape. Holly ( Ilex sp.) leaves look similar but the growth habit is different. The berries hang in clusters too, and are purplish-black, covered in a light bloom. The flowers are small and bright yellow in colour, hanging in dense clusters above the leaves. The leaves are pinnate and each leaf is made up of spiny leaflets, looking just like a holly leaf. Oregon Grape is an evergreen shrub growing up to 1 m. (Season is quite variable depending on species and location). When to find Oregon Grapeįlowers early winter to mid spring and berries mid summer to early autumn. Parks, gardens, hedges and occasionally spread to woodlands. Oregon grape is a native plant in the North American West. Oregon Grape, Oregon Holly, Oregon Holly Grape, Hollyleaved Barberry, Mountain Grape, Mahonia Botanical name

have managed to make myself absolutely frantic with grief about mass incarceration again, & attempts to focus on the practical (in this case, my ongoing effort to get my library to provide, at least, targeted reentry services) have not helped, so here's a list
1. my partner & i are going camping tomorrow! we saw scrubjays last time we went to this park and maybe we'll see more. i love scrubjays & i have never camped as an adult before so i am excited
2. i have been using the stereo mix option in audacity to record music (i love theft) & accidentally left a tumblr messenger sound in the middle of a song which makes me laugh every time i hear it
3. we made jam! it is peach rosemary, and it came out really well. i have high hopes for making more jam this summer, although my rhubarb jelly attempt was an abject failure
4. mixed feelings about putting this on the list but my supervisor (??) at work told me about how she's been practicing using my pronouns, which was really sweet, and then mentioned that literally no one else uses them, which was less so. i think i have at least managed to sow confusion which is, of course, always my intention
5. someone i was friendly with in college texted me a link to a huge google drive folder of medieval studies books out of the blue, which was really nice! love to be correctly perceived as a pdf magpie
6. people appear to have actually looked at books i put on display in the kids section of the library, which is relatively rare, so that was nice. i rewarded their attention by putting out more books about climate change, get em young
just having an awkward miserable day so far but there's good stuff around too. i hope everyone else also has good stuff going on

🎶 I was “tagged”—apparently that’s the term—by Angel Dust @sluttyspiderpolkacock with this little note:
You can usually tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to! Put your favorite playlist on shuffle and list the first 10 songs, then tag 10 people.
🎶 And I thought, sure! That sounds delightful! But I’m not going to “tag” any of you people. If you want to do it, do it yourself.
🎶 My record collection is shockingly vast and not at all geared toward easy “shuffling”—vintage vinyls are not decks of cards!—so instead of my full library, I’m drawing from a much shorter playlist—only about 5,000 songs.
1. “I Dare Not Love You” by Irving Aaronson and His Commanders
2. “The Drunkard Song (There Is A Tavern In The Town)” by Rudy Vallee - But specifically the version where he cracks up laughing in the middle!
3. “Russian Lullaby” by Cab Calloway & His Orchestra
4. “Notes / Prima Donna” from Phantom of the Opera - Although I wish it was easier to find albums with “Prima Donna” by itself! It wasn’t a problem on the phonograph record version, but you can’t move the needle wherever you want half as easily on a digital recording.
5. “Glitz At The Ritz” by Jules Gaia
6. “It’s A Great, Great Pleasure” by Louis Jordan & His Tympany Five
7. “My Old Flame” by Charlie Parker & Miles Davis
8. “Foxtrot-Potpourri” by Kurt Weill & Max Raabe
9. “Prince Nez” by Squirrel Nut Zippers
10. “Perdido Street Blues” by Louis Armstrong
((And as a bonus, here’s a dozen songs from the mun off of my personal and ever-incomplete Alastor character playlist:))
“Blue Devil Blues” - Walter Page’s Blue Devils
“Dahmer Does Hollywood” - Amigo the Devil
“Faidherbe Square” - Proleter
“La Danse De Mardi Gras” - Dewey Balfa, The Balfa Brothers
“Drinka Little Poison (4 U Die)” - The Soul Rebels, John Mooney
“Re-Charleston (Radio Edit)” - Wolfgang Lohr
“Dead Man’s Blues” - Jelly Roll Morton & His Red Hot Peppers
“Brass Devil” - Parov Stelar
“Les Fleurs” - BeauSoleil
“The Masochism Tango” - Tom Lehrer
“Demon” - The Electric Swing Circus
“The Axeman’s Jazz” - Reddie Whilling & Able
((Most of these songs are also somewhere in the above playlist that Alastor’s own choices are from; but the mun’s OOC “Alastor inspiration” playlist is focused on songs that thematically/lyrically/musically fit Alastor, with whether he’d like them himself a secondary consideration. The IC “what Alastor would listen to” playlist is a lot longer and a lot less focused because nobody ONLY listens to music that fits their character, right? Like does every song you listen to thematically highlight an ongoing motif in your personal character arc, or do you just listen to some songs because they’re jams? Most of the songs that Alastor listens to, he listens to because he thinks they’re jams.))
((So don’t psychoanalyze the 10 songs Alastor posted too much lol. I literally put a 5,000-song playlist of jazz/swing/electroswing/musicals on shuffle.))

FOOD HUBS - CHANGING HOW PEOPLE BUY THEIR FOOD
Tumblr media
Honolulu Civil Beat - December 4, 2020 - By Allan Parachini
The area around the Moloaa Irrigation Cooperative’s hilltop water tank, whose surrounding vegetation is controlled by a small herd of aggressive, inquisitive goats, is the new headquarters for Kauai’s newest and perhaps most innovative food hub project.
The new hub, organized by local nonprofit Malama Kauai, is joining a statewide movement that, essentially, abandons the idea that small Hawaii farmers should see selling their products to supermarkets as their most important objective.
Food hubs operate as an interface between farmers and customers, allowing farmers to concentrate on farming and creating a seamless ordering system so consumers can order food online for delivery or availability at central pickup points. It can also facilitate the production of value-added food products like jams and jellies.
With COVID-19 fears continuing to change shopping behavior, farmers are moving increasingly to a commercial model based on custom shopping experiences, access to increasing varieties of food products and home delivery.
Megan Fox, Malama Kauai’s CEO, added that the new operation will also be a post-harvest facility. Food hubs have grown to do much more than be an aggregator and distributor, she said.
In addition to continuing to distribute food bags to people who need them in the community, Malama Kauai is about to launch holiday gift packs to promote the development of what will be called the Moloaa AINA Center. The center will include a processing facility, offices and meeting space and a central, mobile certified kitchen.
The model is similar to projects already established in many parts of the state. Maui and Oahu are especially strong locales, Fox said. Food hubs are quickly moving online, accepting electronic payments from food stamp recipients and credit card payments from other customers, with home delivery or scheduled pickups at prearranged sites increasingly the norm.
The idea, Fox said, is for community agriculture to find its own way to scale and not for marketing dynamics to be dictated by the supermarket concept. It would reorganize food production and distribution so customers could get what they need directly — or nearly directly — from farmers.
Fox is not trying to simply redefine “supermarket.”
“In my world,” she said, “that’s not the goal."
Fox sees vastly expanded potential for interisland food distribution and possibly even export markets for crops like ginger and turmeric.
“There are a lot of people doing big things quietly,” she said.
The food hub model seems to be holding its own despite what might, in non-COVID-19 times, have been a major setback in the Hawaii Legislature this year. Two bills — one in the House and another in the Senate — would have set aside funds for a statewide complex of food hub demonstration programs.
Sen. Mike Gabbard, who represents Kapolei and was one of the introducers of the Senate bill, said the legislative effort, which involved cosponsors in both chambers, ground to a halt on March 16, when COVID-19 shutdowns began to overwhelm Hawaii.
In June, with the state budget clearly in crisis, sponsors pulled both of the bills abruptly after Gov. David Ige warned that Hawaii was in no position to fund anything new.
Keith Ranney, manager of the Maui Hub, said the momentum behind changing Hawaii’s food supply model has gotten so strong that the trend is, at this point, unstoppable — even without the aid that might have come from the failed legislation. Ranney previously worked for Hawaii Farmers Union United and helped draft the legislation. The farmers union, which has a major presence on every island, was a key proponent of the legislation.
“We’ve basically been operating without any significant funding,” he said. “But this concept is picking up in popularity nevertheless.”
Supporting Small Farms
Fox said the hilltop now dominated by the water tank will eventually house a storage and food handling facility and a trailer-based certified kitchen, as well as offices and support facilities. There are, she said, 70 farms in Moloaa — most of them very small family operations. Twenty of them, she said, have already signed up for work within Malama Kauai’s hub operation. The farms here, she said, cover a total of 600 acres.
“They are incredibly diverse,” she said.
While a few farmers, she said, “want to be Costco,” the majority of growers would simply like to rid themselves of the marketing and promotion aspects of their operations and just grow food, realizing that they will never be able to reach levels of scale necessary to be an ongoing supplier for supermarkets and big box stores.
They struggle constantly, Fox said, with the need to control costs and find reliable sources of affordable labor — which they must do without any structured program of farm worker housing. Kauai farmers, Fox said, have an average age just over 56.
But coming up, she said, is increasing awareness of farming among teens and 20-somethings who, she said, “look at food and farming differently. They have a more global view. People don’t get into farming for money. There’s a passion behind it.”
She said a movement is quietly developing to focus at least some high school curricula on agriculture as a way of educating new generations of potential farmers. She said a charter school teacher she knows has had great success teaching Shakespeare using farming analogies and identifying references to agriculture in literary classics as a basis for teaching on broader issues.
“You can teach everything in the garden,” Fox said. She sees a future when entire charter schools are designed around agricultural models.
Farms like those surrounding Moloaa will probably never be able to achieve the production scale needed to be steady suppliers for Safeway, Foodland and Big Save — a Kauai-specific supermarket chain. But some, she said, aspire to play a more regular role in supplying health food stores and even places like the three Whole Foods stores on Oahu.
Amber McClure, who runs Moloaa Bay Coffee — a small farm focused on coffee and cacao — said the movement that Malama Kauai’s new project represents “is the first huge shift that we’ve seen moving toward something that we have all imagined could be a great opportunity.
“Although people do need to be more careful of how they spend their money, they are more mindful than ever of where their money is going.

Some Cielonica shipping meme I did!
I was lazy so for the portraits I used the art I commissioned from my friend @toivoshi! (Please check them, they do amazing art and has a super cool ongoing comic series!!)
Links to templates! First (originally posted by senaizuuchan) || Second || Third and Fourth
Note: I changed the second template’s “Screams at bugs” to “Scoops bugs and throws them away” and also added a horse into the driver part since this is Fire Emblem, baybee!!
Also, more talk about these memes under the cut!!
General Ship Meme Stuff
Height Ciela has already stopped growing for a long time. Her height capped at 158 cm/5'1" feet while Veronica keeps on growing. She will eventually outgrow Ciela (maybe she'd hit somewhere 170 or even 175).
Age I never decided on their age. All I know is just Brave!Veronica (I will write as Beronica from now on) is older than Princess Veronica (just Veronica if I write her more) because she seems more mature and more stable as a person. I HC-ed that Veronica is somewhere at 13~16 y.o. while Beronica is at 18 ~ early 20s y.o. and Thrasir is already at mid 20s (maybe 26~27). Ciela in my mind has always been the age of uni/college student, or a fresh graduate who's struggling to find jobs in the world. Her background is still very much vague so I never really thought much about her age.
Falling in love Ciela is very much easily attracted to people, esp those who makes her feel really good. Her romantic disposition usually doesn't stop at anyone w/ feminine tendencies, but she just feels far more comfortable around those who identifies as female, due to multiple reasons. She doesn't mind guys in general, but they just don't get her going. Anyway, she fell in love with Beronica literally at first sight.
Beronica, due to her position, lived a more isolated life, and also is more wary of people in general. There is a limited number of people who she trusts. I HC-ed that she doesn't have much great experience with males (cause iirc her dad was a bastard) except those who she viewed with more brotherly or platonic view like her own brother or Xander. She's most likely a lesbian but also a demiromantic at the same time. Took her a while to develop her feelings towards Ciela, but after that, she's like a car without brakes.
Relationship experience Ciela had been in relationship w/ some guys before she realized she's not really into them. She never really hooked up with any girls because of some prejudice about same sex relationship where she came from, so Beronica is literally her first lesbian partner.
As mentioned above, Beronica lived quite in more isolation so she never really had any romantic relationship experience beyond the formality. She’s not awkward at them however, due to all the manners and diplomatic lessons she received. (And Beronica does have that different streaks of confidence than Veronica. The way they talk is vastly different, with Beronica showing more confidence and is more demanding in tone compared to Veronica’s more flat and reserved tone).
Affections/PDA/Protectiveness Once Beronica enters a serious relationship with Ciela (post their support thing you can read here), Beronica shows Ciela tons of affections and lavishes her with love as she realizes how great of a person Ciela is, and is a bit in a way to repay her for everything she did. Bero doesn't hestitate to hold her hand, hugs her, or even treats potential Ciela courters with much cold or threatening gaze. She'd leave "marks" on Ciela's body but since Ciela dresses very modestly, there's just no room for that, lmao. Fortunately, Bero can show great degree of professionality as a hero first and foremost and not terribly possessive in "you can't interact with people but me" way, since she understands that Ciela is a very important person in the Order of Heroes. She also trusts Ciela enough because she knows Ciela isn't really attracted to anyone else but Bero really.
Ciela mostly have treated Vero the same since the beginning. She did show a great deal of attention towards Beronica to fight off the Embla curse and for everything else really (since she was the fool who fell in love first). She's more reserved in showing her affection since she's a little shyer at times, and a bit bad at words, but she can also be clingy to Beronica, and never minds the affectionate PDA thing Beronica do to her. She also knows that Beronica is rarely ever interested in anyone else but her so things are really bueno for them.
Pet Names They call each other "my beloved" or "dearly beloved". Ciela has a secret nickname for Bero that is "Ronnie", but she uses it more privately because some early heroes who knew about this often teases them about it. They don't have other "silly" pet names because they're just that type of straightforward couple hahah.
Bonus: an alternate versison of Ciela who used to be Thrasir's SO called Thrasironica with the nickname of "night charm" and "night sky". In return, Thrasir called her "thunder" or "paradise". Both pet names are references to some important symbols in their relationship (that are quite different from present Ciela and Beronica).
Smaller stuff/trivias
“Scoops bugs and throws them away” was changed from “screams at bugs” because both Ciela and Beronica thankfully aren't afraid at bugs. They have different level of fascination towards it and behaves really differently. However, Ciela is more pacifist in her approach when dealing with pests while Beronica is more straightforward to kill.
Beronica being a princess once made her very sloppy at doing chores and cookings (I'll talk about this in the food section). She's doing her best, but ultimately Ciela or other heroes prefer to do it on their own most of the time. Beronica is good at keeping her stuff organized at least. They’d still let her do polishing or weapon maintenance since she’s very meticulate and careful. They will also let her do the horse care duty since she’s good with them.
On driving - Beronica has a very loyal horse named Randgridr (whom I don't talk about enough) so she's very good at dealing with animals in general and has great mastery on working with them. In modern AU, this just means she'd get her license as early as she could and just go everywhere with the car she owns. She's also not a clumsy driver. - Ciela eventualy gets to have a falicorn of her own (a black falicorn named Benthe whom she and Bero found when they both ran away to the mountain when Anna declared beach day) so she'd get a mastery on working with mounted animals. In modern AU, she's probably that person who has driving license but doesn't really drive unless she really has to.
On sleeping habit - Ciela is very much a night owl and has hard time getting up in the morning. She often misses roll call and at this point most people in Order of Heroes already accepted this and can proceed business as usual without her.  - Veronica is also a night owl, but this derives from her often having nightmares due to the Curse of Embla. Once meeting Ciela, her sleep quality actually improves a lot - Sometimes they do a lot of “things” at night to tire themselves out and helps them falling asleep better.
Food Meme Stuff
I imagined both of them aren't very picky eaters. Bero maybe so in the beginning, but being a royal, I imagined she has great palate and experience with foods, and was able to help improve the flavor of foods in the Order via her feedback. She generally eats anything as long as they're prepared properly. She also understand the importance of eating well being a soldier herself.
Ciela isn't picky because of her previous background not letting her eat as much as she wants so she's always eager on trying something new. She became good at cooking solely for the reason of feeding herself and some people who lived with her at some point.
Favorite Food/Drinks
Ciela likes food that tastes great both hot and cold, but she has more tongue to eat more "refreshing" food. Maybe she used to live in a tropical country...
Bero is a meat lover. She loves them anyhow they're cooked, but she mostly likes them roasted or made into meatballs and served with some juicy and sour berry sauce or jam to balance the fatty flavor.
I don't know how to describe "herbal soft drinks" better than it does, but basically soft drinks are sort of any drinks that is meant to be enjoyed lightly as opposed to alcoholic drinks, right? (though they are mostly being used to refer to carbonated drinks). So one day I had the chance to eat at an international restaurant in a hotel and for the local menu, they have these selection of "soft drinks" that are basically combination of herbs and fruits and woods that are just so??? good??? They're clear colored (some red, some green, depending on the ingredients) so maybe they're like infused drinks or filtered juice(?), and one of my favorite has peppermint, ginger, sappan wood, and lime in it. It is served cold and is also sweet (maybe they added sweetener to it). So I imagined Bero would like to drink these refreshing drinks because they taste great and possibly has great benefits for health too since they're mostly from natural ingredients.
On Cafe Drinks
I HC-ed that in Zenith, Askr grows tea while Embla grows coffee. This makes for the reason why Askrans like to drink tea a lot and Veronica in one of the FEH comic is clueless about tea brewing.
This reflects on Bero's choice of caffeine drink. She doesn't mind tea but more used to coffee. She usually takes them plain or just with milk or cream.
Ciela prefers tea because she just doesn't like the flavor of coffee. She prefers her tea chilled though. She drinks boba or jelly drink back in her world.
On Alcoholic Drinks
I think both Ciela and Bero are very modest drinker, as in they won't drink unless it's for someone else or for any important occassion.
Ciela is a moderate drinker. She holds herself very well and will definitely stop before she gets drunk and totally lose herself. When drunk however, she will get very "proper" and apologetic. She will get sad and apologize a lot, letting out much of her inner worries, and probably also auto pilots herself to properly tidy herself before she fell asleep. Some people enjoys her drunken state because finally they'll be able to find out more about her since Ciela keeps to herself most of the time.
Beronica if drunk gets on the pretty happy but sarcastic side like suddenly her words became much sharper (and honest) while she says it in very smiley face or her normal tone. She also gets far more daring. Her auto-pilot mode isn't as great as Ciela's however.
On Food
Living in Order of Heroes, everyone gets to eat properly and equally due to the strict living schedule, though Ciela gets to skimp on that sometimes since she often misses breakfast. The heroes often save an easy to eat breakfast for her so she can eat them during meetings or study or chores.
Ciela eats quite a lot. Nobody knows where all those extra calories goes. Most guesses it goes to her brain and her tiddies.
Veronica loves spicy food and Ciela can't stand them so much. She has a tongue that's pretty sensitive to the spice that'll numb her tongue and make her unable to taste anything else. It mostly saddens her because she thinks it's a great flavor and makes food exciting.
Ciela loves her sweets and bakes or cooks to feed herself. Veronica is more moderate on it, but she'd take some sweet-savory snack for herself.
That’s all for now?? If I missed anything, feel free to ask!!
Thanks for reading uwu)b

Mismatched Making Preview 3
Last one ya’ll get for this chapter and LEMME FUCKIN TELL YOU I’M OVER HERE DYING AT HOW CUTE THESE KIDS ARE! WRITING FLUFFY MOMENTS BETWEEN THESE TWO IS SO FUCKING EASY I THINK I MIGHT JUST OVERDOSE ON ADORABLE OVER HERE BLESSSSSSS
***
“Wait, so let me see if I can get this all straight,” Pacifica interjected, holding her hands up. “So your great uncle actually has a twin brother who was trapped in another dimension for the past 30 years. And the whole time, your uncle was trying to bring that brother back by huge portal thing that was secretly under the Mystery Shack the entire time but no one knew about it?”
“Yeah, pretty much,” Dipper nodded.
“And the Gems factor into all this… how?”
“They sort of… don’t for a pretty long time. Like I said before, they lost their memories about all of this thanks to their leader, Rose, erasing them after they were all possessed by…” Dipper trailed off, his expression darkening at the mere thought of the dream demon. “Y-you know what? N-never mind that for right now.”
“Oh, thank goodness,” Pacifica sighed, relieved. “I feel like my brain’s about to burst from everything you’ve been telling me. Your life is like some crazy movie or huge story written by a psychopath or something. Seriously, how do you deal with all these massive bombshell shakeups all the time?”
“Eh, you learn to just deal with them as they come,” Dipper shrugged, hopping up onto a nearby log to take a seat. Pacifica joined him, glad for the much needed break from their ongoing hike, though even so, she watched in curious confusion as Dipper pulled a snack out of his bag that she was entirely unfamiliar with.
“What’s that?” she asked, intrigued by the oddly shaped sandwich.
“Oh, it’s peanut butter and jelly,” Dipper grinned, offering half to her. “Mabel packed it for me before we left and for some reason she cut it into a heart shape and said it was ‘for luck’, whatever that means. Anyway, you can have some if you’re hungry.”
Pacifica didn’t immediately accept his offer, instead looking over the half-heart sandwich with a furrowed brow of confusion. “You said this is a… peanut--who and… what, exactly?”
“What, you’ve never had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before?” Dipper asked with an incredulous chuckle before meeting the heiress’s dumbfounded expression once more. “Oh my gosh, you’re serious, aren’t you?”
“Is this some sort of… poor person snack?” Pacifica wondered, holding the sandwich up to get a better look at it. “N-not that being poor is a bad thing! Its just… I-I’m not really allowed to anything that hasn’t cost over at least $100 per tiny gourmet plate portion, so… yeah…”
“Are you kidding?” Dipper asked in apt disbelief. “Your parents don’t even let you eat what you want?”
“Heh, welcome to the super ‘glamorous’ world of a Northwest,” the heiress laughed somewhat bitterly.
“Well, here’s your official welcome into the super average world of a Pines,” Dipper countered, placing his half of the sandwich into her open hand with a playful grin. “And unlike most of your high class gourmet meals, this one’s completely free.”
Pacifica tried her best to suppress the sudden blush that filled her cheeks as she accepted his offering, though all the same, she was still a bit hesitant to try the sandwich for herself. Until, of course, she ventured her first bite of the sandwich. “Mm! This is sooo good!” she exclaimed, her eyes alight with newfound discovery. She disregarded all the proper manners she had been taught in favor of voicing her overwhelming excitement over such a simple treat. “The bread’s so soft and it’s all so creamy, but then there’s like… little nuts in it too? I love that!”
“That’s the power of chunky peanut butter,” Dipper chuckled, warmly amused by the heiress’s elation as she scarfed down another bite.
“And this fruity taste? What is that?”
“Strawberry jam. So technically, it’s more of a peanut butter and jam sandwich, but eh same difference.”
“Whatever it is, it’s amazing!” Pacifica grinned as she finished off the other half. “And you just eat stuff like that all the time?!”
“Eh, maybe not all the time, but PB&J is a longtime favorite for me and Mabel for a reason,” Dipper said, still laughing, especially as he noticed the small smudge of jam marring the heiress’s cheek. “Oh, hey, you got a little something on your cheek there.”
“Huh?” Pacifica reached up, rubbing just shy of the jam that she missed it entirely.
“Here, let me,” Dipper slipped his vest off, not really having anything else but the corner of it to wipe the heiress’ face clean. He stopped short as soon as he did however, suddenly caught off guard by exactly what he was doing, and exactly how close their faces happened to be as he did. In the briefest, most breathless of moments, he caught sight of her eyes, wide and wondering as they practically sparkled in the low light coming in through the trees above. Eyes that were staring at nothing else in the world at that moment... other than him. “I-I… s-sorry,” he quickly recanted, backing off as he hastily threw his vest back on and slipped off the log to stand. “W-we should probably get going.”
“O-oh…” Pacifica frowned somewhat, slowly, almost sadly returning to reality as she did the same. “Yeah, you’re right… Um… thanks, by the way, for the… what was it called again? Sandy Witch?”
“Sandwich,” Dipper corrected with a smirk. “And you’re welcome. I’ll be sure to bring you another one when we hang out again tomorrow.”
“T-tomorrow…” Pacifica repeated, her former smile returning in full force upon hearing this. “Yeah, tomorrow. I can hardly wait…”

With a name like Fluckers, it’s got to be good!
For anyone who doesn’t know the reference, that’s the premise from a 1976 Saturday Night Live sketch (that link is to the transcript which takes 2 minutes to read, and is kinda necessary for understanding the point I’m trying to make here), so I think it’s the perfect metaphor for understanding our own Fluckers, aka Bucklemming.
But this is also a bit of Meta Meta, because this is poking fun at using the right words, at words having subjective importance that may differ from the speaker’s intent, and the fundamental relevance of understanding the speaker’s point of view as possibly distinct from the audience’s expectations, and the resulting misunderstandings leading to negative reactions.
(oh, and dramatic irony, the other big bad of s13)
Since this is even one of the main narrative themes of season 13, I think it’s well worth diving into, because there’s some real-life takeaways here that I think might be useful to bear in mind. We keep talking about characters using their words, using the RIGHT words, and the consequences not only of using the wrong words, or even just interpreting words incorrectly and not understanding the intent, I think this is doubly important right now. But I’m also gonna use this as a chance to explain a real-life phenomenon that I’m about reaching a state of ultimate exhaustion over. I’m gonna refer to it as the Fluckers Phenomenon. So I guess I need to explain what the heck Fluckers even is and why this is so painfully hilarious.
Back in the 1970’s, an American jelly company called Smuckers had a series of television ads that proclaimed, “With a name like Smuckers, it has to be good.” And really? Wtf? WHY should that admittedly odd-sounding name automatically imply a quality fruit spread product? I remember watching the ads as a kid and being absolutely baffled, because I personally don’t care for jelly at all and couldn’t think of a reason to justify ANY jelly being good. But that’s kinda besides the point.
Anyway, the ads featured a couple of kids talking about their family business, because their last name is Smuckers, so it’s kinda their legacy to make delicious, quality jams and jellies. That was the extent of the entire ad campaign. It kinda left a lot of open questions, you know? We’re Smuckers so we make good jam, and our jam is good because we’re Smuckers.
This isn’t even accounting for the snickering about the name itself… which SNL being SNL, used to excellent advantage in the Fluckers skit above. If you don’t know it, go read that link about it. Once again, it’s a very “Bucklemming Era” kind of joke, and considering they put a sideways sort of John Belushi reference into 13.18 as well, I figure this is the sort of thing that can go a long way toward explaining the disconnect in a lot of Bucklemming writing.
“Mangled Baby Ducks!”
“It’s so good, it’s sick making!”
“The brand so disgusting you can’t say it on television!”
Let me backtrack for a moment, because I’ve had a lot of people come to me in the last few days thanking me for trying to dissect a Bucklemming episode with any sort of objectivity, as if it’s some sort of magical power to overlook the expected knee-jerk reaction-worthy blech, for lack of a more descriptive term for it. The fact that Bucklemming is gonna continue happening to good people-- and to canon-- is a fact I’ve resigned myself to. Their episodes still exist, they’re still part of canon, and I, for one, will continue to watch giving them the benefit of the doubt for that reason. Not that I won’t be critical of them, or that I’ll just overlook when they are unnecessarily gross or terrible, but that I won’t allow the expectation that they are entirely awful to blind me to the fact that despite their reputation, they do actively write to the narrative themes, and they do actively understand the larger story here.
Yeah, Bucklemming Bingo is hilarious. Yeah, they have relied too heavily on horror tropes used poorly, and they’ve proven they can be tone-deaf to some of their more problematic choices. I’m not suggesting we forgive them for that, but I am suggesting that fandom vitriol for those things has warped our ability to give them any credit at all.
Think of how many times we’ve said or read, “Oh no, it’s bucklemming. I’m not watching it live. Somebody tell me if it’s even worth bothering to sit through 43 minutes of their bullshit.” Their reputation precedes them. People go into their episodes actively LOOKING for and expecting The Worst Possible Shit.
With a name like Fluckers, it’s probably filled with mangled baby ducks!
Which is… losing all perspective. Because the name might be terrible, but it’s still fruit spread in the jar. It ain’t actually mangled baby ducks.
I’m not saying that you have to be happy about everything they write, but this mindset of only expecting shit is gonna yield a lot of shit. The assumption that everything they write is inherently bad, or problematic, or somehow an obvious and inexplicable retcon, or OOC nonsense… it’s just flat-out misguided. Sorry, folks.
The fandom reaction to some of their episodes has been so over the top vitriolic when similar themes, characterizations, and plots from other writers are praised. Or at least examined objectively. So I’m not suggesting we just blindly accept everything they write is praiseworthy or good, but I am suggesting we afford them the same open-minded benefit of the doubt we give to the rest of the writing staff. And that starts with understanding and accepting the fact that their writing style is on a different level.
Sure, it’s disappointing that it feels as if the rest of the writing room is starting at a different baseline level, and that bucklemming episodes tend to drag down the tone a bit (okay, sometimes more than a bit), and that they seem to be more interested in being clever or self-referentially cute than elevating their stories to the same level as the rest of the team, but they aren’t going away, either. Either we accept that and learn to make some peace with that fact, and at least attempt to engage their episodes on the level we should’ve learned to expect from them by now, or else this is gonna be an ongoing source of fandom Fluckery.
I’m not saying we should just handwave some of their more egregious missteps, but the fact that they seem to be ALL we can focus on sometimes, to the exclusion of the 90% of their writing that’s serviceable, if not Pulitzer-winning, is one of the most frustrating aspects of fandom to me.
We’re all so quick to find that GOTCHA moment. We’re all so ready to be offended by everything in their episodes, to declare them problematic, to expect them to just get everything wrong, I see post after post nitpicking minor details that nobody would even question in a Dabb episode or a Bobo episode. I’ve seen far too many posts mischaracterizing or misconstruing past canon just to nitpick non-issues in Bucklemming episodes.
“But why was she called Charlie Bradbury in the AU?! They probably don’t even know her real name was Celeste Middleton. Those Bucklemmings are at it again.”
Why is this even an issue? Why is this even a question? Because she used the name Charlie Bradbury before she ever met Sam and Dean. That had already been her alias, probably since the first time she evaded the law as a young teen. So, long before the Apocalypse started. But because it was Bucklemming, folks didn’t even try to understand, knee-jerk assumed that they must just be idiots who don’t understand canon, and let themselves get mad about it. Then just… magnified the anger until it touched every aspect of the episode.
(and this is obviously just one example of this sort of reaction, and by far not the only one I’ve seen after this episode)
Charlie Bradbury would canonically be the correct name to use here. Of all the aliases she’s used in canon, this is the one that lines up with all the facts we know about the AU-- that Sam and Dean never existed there and the apocalypse happened anyway. She only changed her name again after 7.20. From 8.11:
Charlie: Charlie Bradbury is dead. She died a year ago. You killed her. My name is Carrie Heinlein. Oh, and guess what. Now you killed her, too.
It just feels like the fandom's actively, and with all dramatic irony, playing out the miscommunication themes.
(and since dramatic irony and miscommunication are two of the major meta themes of the season, I find this particularly fascinating, you know?)
I’m simply asking that we stop conflating Fluckers with Mangled Baby Ducks. I mean, if I expect jelly and get mangled baby ducks, I’m gonna point that out, but 99% of the time, I’m actually getting jelly here. Complaining it’s grape when I prefer black cherry isn’t gonna change the fact that I have, in fact, been served jelly.
