There are people who found me through this doodle, which was one of the first xiv things I've ever drawn.

People who saw my shiny gramps on the tumblr radar for the first time in 2022.

People who cheered for these two to make it to the radar this June, people who only discovered me through that, or even later. I owe a lot to the radars, but also your reblogs, retweets, and other ways of sharing something you think deserves your friends' time. Through each share, you helped me take a leap towards a dream that can only be called reckless.

People who watched my preparations for a comic, people who decided to support, even though both sides, you the audience and I the author, are aware of risks typical for massive, multi-year projects. I hope the believers feel rewarded.

People who only found Fragments recently, and also decided to pitch in. An Afterword: talking about Welsh and Shedar

While we are done with the movie and the show, it cannot be understated, just how much we still have to cover. Both in terms of canon, and things out of the realm of canon.

And this includes interviews, and things that never got made.

The thing that often bothers me, is that the creator of the franchise that my most favorite cartoon of all time is a part of, probably despises said cartoon.

I can't not think about that, when I see Simone and other Aux Tresors characters reused in Wakfu season 4 as background character assets, or when I think about how every show except Aux Tresors has had an OST released, or how the only Aux Tresors companion in Waven is Lou. Though I know, logically speaking, that it's more likely because it's just not very popular.

Funnily enough, I personally, and rather selfishly, think that Welsh & Shedar's demise is probably the greatest fortune to happen to this franchise. What was one of the worst things to ever happen to Tot was one of my greatest fortunes. (I would not care about Joris as a character, had Kerubim never existed. The cartoon, and their relationship, mean a lot to me, for personal reasons.)

To Tot, the thing that I love the very most has cannibalized one of his life's dreams. Starting with the resources, and ending with character designs themselves. Even the character design of a fucking cat??

As an artist myself, I can't even begin to imagine the horror of that, and yet... I feel nothing but joy. It's quite weird, how life works.

The good news is that Welsh and Shedar has been resurrected by Ankama (watch as it gets a full artbook and an OST release before Aux Tresors, an 11 year show that still doesn't have those, yes I am bitter), so, it is mostly water under the bridge. We will hopefully get to enjoy both, in a couple of years.

But I feel like it's very likely, that a lot of Aux Tresors and the way Tot may feel about it, was influenced by this disaster, and I couldn't begin this post without addressing that.

So, what was, or could be in the future, Welsh and Shedar?

A plot summary from the youtube trailer's description, just as filled with Tot's overwhelming sadness as everything else relating to W&S's cancellation, man, goes as follows: "Here is the trailer for an animated series project launched in 2012 which has very little chance of arriving on your screens. The story is that of Welsh, a young boy forced to fight for an inheritance he never knew existed: that of the throne of the Kingdom of Bonta. Ankama’s “animation” department has plenty of ideas behind its graphics tablets: series, special episodes, films, our brains are always buzzing! However, not all projects are lucky enough to reach you…"

So basically, it was/is/will be a story about a young man, or boy, who finds out he is the next in line for Bonta's throne, and is taken there by Joris. How all of this happens is rather murky, AKA:

Anyway,

Tot has reported that his idea for this series was quite similar to the anime "Ranking of Kings", which I had sadly not watched. Make of that what you will.

When does Welsh & Shedar take place?

Firstly, I will say that, because of how much Tot loves this series, for years it was in a state of vague canonicity. AKA "it did likely happen, but it has never been produced so we don't know WHAT it is, that happened there. There sure was a guy named Welsh at some point."

What points to this is 1. Khan's old man design still being canon,

And 2. This usage of Welsh & Shedar-era Joris in an official timeline. It says that Joris would have been 60 years old, in this series.

Obviously, this timeline is subject to change, if/when Welsh & Shedar becomes real, and there are a lot of things we don't know!

Some curisities...

Funnily enough, there exists this image, which was leaked by a French site when Aux Tresors began airing, — mistakenly used as promo for the series.

It could be depicting some other draft of W&S where Joris is a kid. Or, it could be depicting something between Aux Tresors and W&S, from when Ankama had to make something new up to take W&S's place.

It yet again makes me yearn for an Aux Tresors art book. Because seriously. What does this even mean.

Anyway thank you france for killing W&S, making Aux Tresors (the PEAK.... the SLAY.....) real, and now resurrecting W&S. We truly do live in the kindest timeline 🙏

Edit: Found someone to help me out! Thanks for the reblogs!

I put up a notice on my website for this but I'm gonna try putting out a call for help here too.

I am currently looking for people to help me format and design a KomuBak fanbook and/or a 58k illustrated novel for printing. I've got a terrible eye for font and color design and would really appreciate some help. I've never printed a book before and could use some tips.

I plan on printing a very small batch of these in memory of my late friend Eden with whom I had originally planned these projects, and who wrote the novel. She always dreamed of having The Three-Ringed Path printed as a nice book so I'm hoping I can make that a reality. As such I am not looking to make a profit from them. I plan on donating most of the digital sales of the fanbook (if any, cause let's be real there's like 5 komubak shippers out there) to charity.

I am still willing to pay or offer art/commissions for any help given (though please keep in mind that I can't pay professional hourly wages since I barely make a living wage myself), if anyone feels like giving me a hand. These two books I want to print will be a labor of love for my late friend Eden, so ideally I'd love to have someone who loves DGM or KomuBak help me with this.

I don't have a deadline for any of these projects, so any help given will be on your own time with no pressure whatsoever. I've put off working on these projects for nearly 3 years since Eden passed away because of grief, but I would finally like to put them together and have them printed in her memory. If anyone can help me out, even if you can only spare a few hours every month, I would really appreciate it.

Favourite craft to do in your free time: Painting. Last night I painted for a few hours in a mandala artbook.

Most niche dislike: I don't think any of my dislikes are "niche". I hate those many electronic sounds everything makes. And when I'm talked to while I have my headphones on. But those are, I think, pretty normal.

Opinion on circuses: there are few and far between that are actually GOOD, and most are overpriced for what they offer.

Do you have any sense of direction: Oh, I do. My husband calls me carrier pigeon for a reason. I couldn't necessarily tell you where North is, but I do find my way to where I want to go.

Some of my illustrations for Modiphius' Fallout - The Roleplaying Game: Winter of Atom Book. As some of you can imagine, this meant a lot to me so here is a gigantic text wall about it:

I only have two tattoos so far. A skull, inked at a time my old life was dying in a vortex of meaninglessness, and a new one was yet to be born: the life I have now as an artist, but I didn't know that at the time. A classic choice for a memento mori, a reminder of the impermanence of all things. Also, it was at a discount and I like skulls.

My other tattoo is a Vault Boy, from the Fallout games. It's one of my favorite franchises, in part because Fallout 2 and 4 accompanied me through some hard times, and it has heavily influenced my work and tastes as an illustrator. It's one of the top 3 IPs I wanted to work with the most and for the longest, dating back to when I was a literal child; the other two being Conan and Diablo.

So you'll have to imagine how I feel having worked with MODIPHIUS creating many illustrations for Winter of Atom , a supplement to the officially licensed Fallout TTRPG, because I can't bring myself to describe it.

All this crazy thing of abandoning a career in computer science to chase a random dream because nothing else felt real... Leading to this kind of moment. From tears of complete despair and uncertainty, to tears of the most surreal joy. Flowing from the grim skull of my life's apocalypse to a reassuring, although sarcastic, Vault Boy guiding me through the aftermath.

I wish that what I'm writing here brings hope to some, especially artists in earlier phases of their journey.

Because this first illustration shown here, in fact, was not made in a time of joy. There are dark clouds in the sky for artists and creators of all kinds as companies steal our legally protected works to build their plagiarism toys while trying to weaponize the general public against us. I'm talking about plagiography, cleptography, pseudography, or as some call it, "AI" "Art", while it's neither AI nor art. As the fires of this debate raged wildly by the end of last year, I was using my very little remaining mental energy to work on this piece.

This image wasn't meant to be happy anyway, so I was in the right mood for it. Tired travelers resting shortly in a post-nuclear setting, now with a stern winter on top of it. I was tired too, still am, witnessing a world where catastrophes also seem to only pile up. "War, war never changes", says the narrator at the beginning of most Fallout games.

But guess what, peace never changes either.

It can still be found in the coldest of places, in the darkest of hours. And it begins by believing another world is possible. Other ways of doing things. And like the survival of this weary group, peace is easier to build and keep... together.

I know an artistic career seems impossible to many people. I know this deep in my heart because it seemed impossible to me until not many years ago, alone. Countless people have helped me in making it possible. With the winter of generative machines upon us, things only look harder, especially for beginners.

But, if this inspires someone, I eat impossible for breakfast these days.

I'm not infallible or anything, I even got rejected for an important conference just a few hours ago, and my unapproved or cancelled works that'll never see the light of day could fill an entire artbook by now. I just mean that I keep going, and that we should keep going, even in the face of a shining neon sign that says such a silly word as "impossible".

And, well, no winter lasts forever. You can count on that.

i was going to gush on my anniversary art post, but you've handed me a golden opportunity to do it here. you will regret this. :3c 💞

[cw quick mention of a scene where he's called a slur]

oushirou's been my most beloved, specialest, best boy since my first year in college. i was working my way through the games, and i saw his profile in some artbook scans, and i went... who the FUCK is this guy??? KAJSNKDJN. i hated his design so much; it didn't fit with the rest of the series's designs.

but he immediately won me over as a side character in the pc game, and then i was Doomed the second i booted up to play the PSP port with the added oushirou route (our 13yr anniversary is the day i started posting about playing his route lol). i became The Oushirou Guy™ in the eng fandom from that point on ;; and, of course, now i'm like "i need MORE characters who look like this guy, RIGHT NEOW" kjsnfkjn.

and then a year later -- 12 years ago tomorrow -- the last game released AND, FINALLY, he had his own karedanna cd! a fandom friend sent a rip to myself and my also-oushirou-lover friend, as we were waiting for ours to ship... and he proposes in it. my friend and i both made this day the wedding anniversary in commemoration. i even have some ancient joke art i made on the release day itself LMAO

i love him so much more than i think i let on; ren's my main right now, so that's what people know me for, but oushirou really is The Blueprint for me.

he's so self-driven. he could have lived a cushy, comfortable life following the family trade as a western fortune teller, but he would rather throw that -- and an unealthy relationship with his family -- away so he could follow his dreams of being a photographer and journalist.

and he's loyal. after his life is saved by another student (kazuki), and he realizes kazuki will be held back due to spending too many days recovering from the injuries he incurred, he makes sure he's also held back a year so he can play as kazuki's right-hand-man during the remainder of their time at seigetsu academy.

also like... ngl, him being a scorpio is like 👀 he's a freak like me LMAOOOO we can be like "every zodiac girlie hates our pussiessss" together. 💖

oh. and then of course he's the Ambiguously Queer Character of the series. he's a little fruity w it in general, he loves crossdressing, he's flirty with kazuki, homare, and shiki, he's stated outright that his love for kazuki and tsukiko are equal and he can't decide between them, and his fashion sense is just a little cherry on top ksjdnfk.

ugh. honeybee's just itching to call him a slur i s2g.... wait omg wait they actually had some one-off characters call him a slur in his first route KJASNDKDJNSDFKJN WAIT???????? I JUST REMEMBERED??????? it was one of the first scenes i translated from his route i'm lksnfkns oh my fucking god. and everything since then has been like. doubling down without actually calling him anything. crying omg ksjdnfkjns.

ANYWAY. just a year ago, he was the character everybody associated me with, only beaten out once ren appeared. even my art username is based on him (zerofoursix -> 0-4-6 -> o-shi-ro -> oushirou). he's pulled me through so many things, from shitty college experiences to my health issues... to even being part of the reason why i picked art back up after i took a 5-6yr hiatus due to art school burnout. ;;

i love him so so much, forever and ever, my beloved hentai sentai red*, my adhd king, my most skilled f/o by a LONG shot**, my scorpio twin, my misunderstood weirdo... he's Everything to me 😭💗

* think i've posted about it once before, but it's a running joke that he's a sentai hero who regularly saves tsukiko from creeps in his AW route ;;

** photographer, journalist, multilingual, fashion-forward, western fortune teller, super emotionally intelligent... i could go on. the guy hides SO MUCH of his power level around others.

Since you seem to both play dating sims that go more into the BL/Yaoi genreand ones that are targeted towards gay men, have you noticed any major differences? And do you have a preference between the two? For example, I've seen that the scout game artbook has detailed on every guy's dick like how much they grow when erect and all that. Do cis gay men find that sort of thing hot? It's just sort of bewildering to me

Honestly it's not often that easy to draw a hard line between those two. I use the term "gay dating sim" for either interchangeably, and tend to treat both BL and yaoi as culturally-specific terms related to either Japanese games or those that make extensive use of tropes common in that sort of Japanese media. By that metric, Full Service and Camp Buddy and its sequel would be BL...but what about Coming Out on Top? Dream Daddy? Any of the others I've talked about?

As such it's hard for me to say that I have a preference. I've never cared about the minutiae of character stats of any sort, even when they show up in other types of games like modern Fire Emblem. It just seems excessive and unnecessary to me to have to know things like characters' heights/weights, exact ages, and even sometimes blood types - I think that one is a Japanese thing?. I'm also not a size queen in real life, so of course I don't care about the dick sizes of fictional characters. (That the term "size queen" even exists is however testament to the reality that it is a big deal for some gay men.) Obviously some of these guys are too absurdly large to be believable - like Goro in Scoutmaster Season - but I get that that's a kink thing and can respect when these games step outside the realm of the purely vanilla. It's occurred to me that, while I definitely prefer my visual novels to have sex scenes, they need to have something more than that to interest me. That can be more involved gameplay elements like Full Service, kink variety like Dear Monster and others, or even just a well-told story that aims to be realistic even with darker subjects like Dead Man's Rest. That doesn't really answer your question, but as I said I don't draw much of a distinction in the first place.

Case in point, I've been following along with the demo and Kickstarter for BLits's next game Jock Studio. If their list of goals is to be believed, it's looking to be the biggest gay dating sim to have ever existed by pretty much any metric. They've got a lot of backers and are estimating two years to work on everything, but it's still a lot to conceive. I find myself just as interested in their evolutions on the standard gameplay formula as I am their plans for more and hotter sex scenes. If I'm still on YouTube in 2025 and Jock Studio actually delivers on everything that it's promising, I may have to make a video about it. My extremely petty wish for the world of gay dating sims is that eventually one of these games will become more well-known than Dream Daddy...and if I can help make that happen, all the better.

Otakon 2023

Lil ramblin' about the con beneath the cut! But above the cut, my spoils!

I haven't been to a con since NYC Comicon in 2015, so this was a ride!

Amazing Stuff:

-Meeting @citrus-cactus at the Digimon redubbed movies screening! It was so amazing to meet her after being in the same online community for... Like... God, who even knows, like ten years?!?!?! And she is so lovely!

-THE DIGIMON REDUBBED MOVIES SCREENING!!! More on that here!

-My haul above! A sweet lil Kou-chan figure and a Luna plush from the dealer's room and an artbook from Shouri and a Sonic keychain from the artist's alley!

Not my fave stuff and neutral observations:

For reference, I went to Otakon all three days from roughly age 14 straight through college?? Well, in college it would have been Sat/Sun only. After that, I guess I didn't go that often, but any comparisons I make are to that time period (roughly 2003-2011 ish).

The DC convention center as a venue:

-The convention center was easy to get to from the Metro!

-The building was much bigger and better able to handle the crowd than the Baltimore Convention Center.

-There was. NO SIGNAGE. WHATSOEVER. For ANYTHING. Absolutely horrendous. What there WERE were volunteers/employees who bellowed directly into your face to... Do the things you were already doing. Or to... Walk the other way around the pillar. Because the other side leads into the faerie realm or some shit, idek.

-The guide books used to have maps, schedules, opening and closure times, etc. There was a map in this guidebook, but the opening and closing times for different parts of the cons and the event schedule were not printed. Meaning I had to use my phone to know, for example, when and where the Digimon screening event was... And there was poor reception the dealer's room in the lowest level.

Although the event schedule site couldn't load, I was blessed that some of Citrus' discord messages were getting through. She alerted me that the screening room was filling up and told me the room number (bless!!!! Thank!!!).

The con compared to ones I remember:

-I was shocked that there was a digimon panel and two separate Digimon screenings in one day? And the Digimon movie redub screening event was full to capacity- I missed the first film because I was next in line at the shut door D: So, like, Digimon is alive, and I saw two Daisuke cosplays, a Ken cosplay, and someone with a Patamon plush attached to their baseball cap. Patahat! There wasn't much merch. Citrus spotted the main place offering digimerch and sent me there (I got the Kou figure there). She also saw the lone Digimon fanart in Artist's Alley, and we found someone who made baby stage plushes. Another dealer's room place had some vintage plushies of the digimon that looked... like they had been through... some stuff.

Basically, Digimon seems to still be very much alive in terms of audience interest, but not so much the merch and fan art. I don't know what to make of that.

-The con seemed a lot less lively than the ones I remember. I only saw a few interesting cosplays (like the kind where you go, how did they even do that?!). My husband pointed out that the hall is far larger, however, and that the cosplay folks have tons of photo studio rooms to go to. They were likely there.

-The extra space was deeply appreciated (compared to what I'm used to from the Baltimore days), but... Okay, so the Dealer's Room provided empty space. Every aisle had an end area to "pull over in," whether it's for a water or food break, a photo op, or to wait for your bud to make a purchase.

PEOPLE STILL STOPPED DEAD DIRECTLY IN THE MAIN THROUGHWAY. WHY. WOULD YOU DO THAT. PLEASE I AM BEGGING-

My husband says I'm dreaming if I think the provided empty space will stop people from doing that, lol!

-DEMON SLAYER. EVERYTHING IS DEMON SLAYER. THERE IS NOTHING BUT DEMON SLAYER. Look, I enjoy Demon Slayer too, but good gracious, it's clearly the Naruto of the 2020s in terms of popularity.

-I learned who Rem is. Good God there were a lot of Rem figures.

-Looking at my purchases, I bought for three "classic" IPs and supported an artist I've followed for a long time. No new stuff. And I'd say the merch overall was about half "vintage" stuff and half newer stuff. Lots of Sailor Moon, DBZ, Pokemon, etc.

General Con Hardships:

-So a friend suggested to me recently that I might have sensory issues. I balked, because jfc have you seen my list of issues, please don't suggest another, I beg, I am full up, can I have some less sir.

Uh basically she mentioned how much she used to love going to the movies and I said, "I don't go anymore, I can't understand the voice audio." And she was like- Okay so it's true that some movies don't mix sound properly and can't be understood well, but if it's all movies... Um, babe, I think that's an auditory processing issue.

She suggested I get ear plugs, and god DAMN I wish I had them at the con.

Riding in the metro in tunnels? The whoosing and clanking hurt. Volunteers absolutely bellowing in your face at the con? Look, I guess it's their job, but please I am going to cry if you scream in my face like that. People playing music at the loudest volume in the dealer's room and hallways? Why, why would you do that. Someone was walking around playing an ocarina on the way to the dealer's room, so I was stuck with her for about 10-15 min, and I genuinely wanted to lock the damn thing in her backpack on a timer somehow, lmao. Look, ocarinas are easy enough to get the correct note out of, but they are difficult to control tonally. That high-pitched, harsh PHWEEEE noise clawed at my ears.

Of course, you can't control other people. The best I can do is accommodate myself to suit the place I'm going, which means... The damned ear plugs.

Apparently sensory issues and anxiety go hand-in-hand, as of course people feel stressed if the signals around them aren't being processed in the "typical" way, causing strain.

So... The con was exhausting and just... Difficult. But! I'm really glad I went! And I'll just buy the gd earplugs, here's what was recommended to me.

Also, PS: I found a piece of rare digimon merch that was way out of my budget at a dealer's room stand. But when I came home and looked it up, I found it for 35% less (which, at this price point, was a lot). AND NOW I HAVE AN ABSOLUTE TREASURE ON THE WAY AND I CANNOT WAIT TO SHOW YOU! Also, honestly check the retail on stuff in the dealer's room before you buy, this must be why there's no reception down there-

I am ready to not attend a con until next year! But to also go next year! Maybe I'll meet more of my online pals!!!! :D

what are some random fun facts about the Blackout Hospital characters? (or just Mary, Reginald, and Vasilis?)

-Hyllindrix (the man with the bright orange hair and colorful eyes) got his name from a dream of mine in which someone was trying to steal my identity! When I found the perpetrator online, I found out their name was Hyllindrix Vandercorg. It only seemed fitting it be his name!

-The Nurse character has actually gone through quite a few design changes before we got to this one I'm happy with! When I make an artbook eventually, I think I'll include all her draft designs and show the process so-to-say.

-Mary's hospital gown originally looked a lot different. It was made of a thicker material and draped over her shoulders, with long sleeves. It was much more like a blanket or nightgown than a proper hospital gown. Details like her pink eye+eyepatch and smiley-face slippers though always remained!

-Dr. Tetra (Reginald) is a rheumatologist and Dr. Oakvale (Rune) is a neurologist!

-Originally Vasilis was going to have a hat and ponytail in the beginning sections of the game, but I ended up not going that direction!

I had these ideas for so long to make them with gold foil design in mind but never had chance to get them made until now that my friend helped me print at place with small moq.

Q&A from the Interest Check!

Hiya! KAJiRA here, hope all my American fans are having a safe and restful Labor Day.

I received many questions from some of y'allz in from the Interest Check (which closed last Wednesday) and I would like to answer them (to the best of my ability ofc).

Q: Just wondering how Miko's parents are going to be interpreted. The whole super-strict Asian parents thing is done to death.

A: Yeah, as stereotypical as it sounds...sadly, the whole tiger parenting in the Asian community is actually true...on some level depending on the parents. However, according to canon Miko actually doesn't show any signs of hatred towards her parents. In Darkness Rising Part 2 (S1E2), Miko told Jack a little bit about her time in Japan where she said she has loving parents. In the episode, Deux Ex Machina, she mentioned to Bulkhead that her parents did want her to go to college, when he was lecturing her for ditching after-school detention. Collecting those tiny information from the show, I would have to suggest that Miko's parents did allow her to have some freedom, yet made room for assertiveness and keeping her grounded when it comes to her academics and future.

Q: Would zine contributors be paid for their pieces?

A: Given that this zine project is still in early development, and I'm the only one fully responsible for it's organization, design, printing on my dime with my own equipment, assembly, and distribution, etc... and also this is just a little passion project I want to do because of my love for TFP and the characters and me being a total sucker for headcanons.

As a result, zine contributors will not be compensated, but rather they will receive a free copy of the zine plus (potential) merch.

Q: What would the timeline to complete the pieces look like?

A: That is to be determined. With the Interest Check completed, I'm in the process of creating an application form for potential artists and writers. The acceptance letter will include requirements (size, focusing on the theme, etc) and a deadline.

Q: Would artists also be able to contribute to merch designs?

A: Most likely not. Personally, I don't want to make things hard on potential contributors for the merchandise category since merch making can be expensive. Though I am open for artists and fanfic writers, but just wait until applications for contributors opens soon.

C: "I have always been interested in Miko’s character so it’s almost a dream come true to see people working on this. Not to mention the quality of this project, it’s a lot more professional compared to the other similar projects I have encountered. Keep up the good work!"

K: Same here! Kinda wished TFP sheds more light onto the character's backstory during the series' run. It could've been a few Day-In-The-Life episodes or IDW Publishing could've made some comics focusing on the human characters' backstory. Though we heard a few bits about them (i.e. a little bit about Miko's life in Japan, Jack being raised by a single mom and his dad leaving him at a young age, and Raf's struggles of being noticed in a large family and that his clothes are actually hand-me-downs according to the artbook, Transformers: The Art of Prime), the rest could also be open to interpretation. As for the quality of this project...LOL thanks but not sure how the final product might turn out but there will be more updates soon. I will do the best I can to deliver the best fanzine, and who knows I might promote this project at a future appearance at TFcon!

sword of frost concept art

think of this post as kinda a little artbook for the fic! sword of frost underwent a ton of revisions like i keep saying so i wasnt entirely sure where to take it at first. not to mention writing is v hard for me so my preferred method of brainstorming was drawing! without further ado. writer’s commentary and an artbook :)

to begin with: originally the fic was supposed to be about void dream instead of the snow queen! the idea being that dante was put to sleep by void dream and faust manifested her personal ego to save him- but i ended up going with snow queen bc i saw some sick art on twitter of someone’s employee saving another from snow queen (i wish i had the link bc it was rlly cool, and i’d like to credit them in some way) and i decided that might be a little easier to write for, surprisingly.

up next we have the art for chapter 1! there wasn’t a lot of it but just the stuff i wanted to do with it. i wanted to make this a bigger piece but having to like. paint the prisms pissed me off so i decided against it lmao. the reason for dante wandering into the containment in the first place was originally supposed to be that an employee’s lamp weapon enchanted him from afar and he kept chasing the light until he came upon the snow queen, but i realized he could also. just walk in there on his own lol

the actual csp file containing the layout of the facility + the groups i split everyone into was unfortunately lost in a computer moment so. its just the main group here! i chose everyone based on who i wanted to write and interpret- nothing against the other sinners, i had just been itching to write these ones in particular.

The Fight. i rlly like how i did this one still! writing this scene was also super fun bc i got to use my imagination and mimic how the movements would go :)

but now here’s the wildin part: chapter 2 was supposed to be very different! originally the idea was that dante woke up fine, but changed. kinda like how in the original tale of the snow queen kai became jaded and hated everything he saw, bc the mirror was in his eyes and the snow queen was the only thing he found beautiful- dante was supposed to become competent and uncaring, but hollow inside. the little shard of ice inside his heart wasn’t fully gone, and a kiss could undo it! i found myself struggling with how to pull that off in a satisfying way so i opted for something cooler instead, bc i wanted to make the fic less predictable and maybe more memorable.

there was supposed to be a scene in dante’s office, so i wanted to imagine what it would look like! plus a brief sketch of an ego based on the roses

dante was supposed to unbutton his shirt a little and reveal the ice shard still lodged in there (bc the Tension yknow?) and ryoshu and faust talking abt how dante’s clearly changed.

cool art of the shard from when i wanted to practice single color shading that i liked quite a lot!!

yoink! the plan was always for a kiss to thaw the ice but i wanted to do something cool and dramatic for art that night i think.

now abt this point i realized i wanted to do something different, so i went back to an EGO dante thing i made for a server request! i absolutely loved how i did this one, so it ended up being the basis for his corroded form in chapter 2.

as for the final bits of concept art, it was mostly from when i decided to change chapter 2- just stuff to plan the actual concept and get it down before i started writing.

i ended up not liking the second “redesign” of the corroded form as much, so i went with the one i drew before. and finally. the art i posted of snow queen dante not long before i finished the fic proper!

so that was sword of frost! v interesting to write but certainly will not be my last limbus fic lmao. i hope to get more things done before the game drops!

6. Which artists inspire you right now?

i always go to my defaults, yuki nobuteru and matsumi inomata those are always my top choices for inspiration-- as for artists on this site absolutely gonna go with @/plastiboo @/slocotion @/pixeleyebat @/zaebucca @/narche @/elehaba @/hachimitsubani many more but that's a few LOL

7. Favourite works of all time excluding your own?

gosh uhhh really hard one to answer ive got so many, but i'll kinda pick out one in particular because it has a cool story and i rly busted ass trying to get the record it was printed for BUT --

this piece was made for the esperwave album by natsukashii, and amano himself did it for them. they have a story about its creation but it boils down to-- he was going to make it for them but had trouble with the rights to using FF6 characters but the dude actually threw his reputation at square enix and they allowed him to make it, it had prints produced but were limited to only 250 so the cheapest one i have seen went for about 1000 USD. (its kindof my dream to get one BECAUSE of this story i just think its absolutely insane, I would have died on the spot tbh)

17. What inspires you?

OLD MEDIA so much old media, old anime, old rpgs, physical things like records and artbooks from the 90s and 80s and beyond those. I collect things that are reminiscent from this era, i listen to bands that emulate the sounds from old things. everything i keep around me has some retro feel about it.
