There's this thing in the Ben 10 fandom that i wanna talk about that often goes ignored and its the fact that there's always conversations about "The Girls Of Ben 10" and how they deserved better... But here's the thing

All the characters of Ben 10 are underdeveloped. All of them are robbed of times to shine. Its not just Ben's old dates, who get the most attention in these conversations, it's women who exist outside of Ben completely. Its men who we see a few times but still know next to nothing about.

Look at Charmcaster. Charmcaster had a huge story line. She had soooo much going for her that was outside of Ben completely. She was the daughter of a man who fought against oppression and died, then she went into Legerdomain and took it back from said oppressor, and became its new ruler. But then?? She was a bad guy again?? Like, even outside the Michael Morningstar thing, she wanted to get her dad back and she killed all those people and even managed to kill the plumber squad, and then after uaf they completely got rid of that storyline. She has a rich backstory and so much ahead of her story wise that is so interesting!! And it was left for.. Whatever happened in omniverse..

And then there's Pierce, who was the older brother of Helen and friend to Manny, who had so much personality hyped up before we'd actually met him. He was capturing plumbers kids, then got sucked in himself, and met Max, and... Then what?? He joined Max's team with Helen and Manny, who, also, we know nothing about, and then we didn't really hear anything more about them. They went to Plumbers school. I dont even wanna talk about the Rooters arc rn, that's so far away from, like, an actual in depth character analysis to even mention. How did they grow up on Earth if they looked like that... How'd they meet Manny... That was covered?? In Omniverse?? I guess?? But whyd they stay together??

Oh my gosh Elena lets talk about Elena. Shes gotta have PTSD. Her body was taken over by nanites, she didn't even have a full sense of self by the end. She was creating these robots, then she went into the sewers, and eight or something months later shes in a gameshow for Ben's heart. What's up with that?? She has such a plot, a story line-- How'd she get her body back?

Then theres Alan. How long has Alan known he could turn into a alien. Who's his dad? Ok rooter arc stuff again but can we all agree that that retcon sucked?? What is Alan doing now? He was the same age as Ben when he first got his Omnitrix when we were introduced to him for the first time. And his last line was "i think my story is just beginning" like WHAT we were ROBBED

What's Cooper doing? Sunny? They introduce characters with so much interesting stuff going on in their lives or stories and then they never get to have a satisfying story line. Its not just the girls. Its really just background characters in general. They do a couple of things with Cash and JT too, but they never go anywhere--despite having some regular human high schooler dudes with a average redemption arc in play could be interesting in itself. And Jimmy! He's a kid detective! And he has one episode dedicated to it and then rarely shows up again!

I mean, look how many Anodite aus are on this site. Gwen isnt a love interest to anyone but Kevin-- and her, Sunny, and Verdona's experiences with being anodites have people so curious that you have countless headcanons loitering about the tag all the time. Anyway, all im saying is that various plot points are brought up and never seriously or fully explored to their full potential with both the men and women of Ben 10.

I have never once watched the bachelor/bachelorette. I'm laying this out now, because I just had a thought to do with MLB and it brought me right out of my angst focus into mild horror. All i know is that theres like an elimination thing like Total Drama. I just. The chaos, man, the chaos. 😶

Okay so first off I have read an ML/The Bachelor fanfic AGES ago so I had to dig it up here's a link (I haven't read it in forever. Endgame Adrienette. I remember that Kagami and Lila were other contestants, but most of them were OCs)

THAT SAID

While I do think that this could get chaotic, very few of the girls would be genuinely invested in this. So unless we make it like an Akuma forced them into a gameshow type of deal like that one Omniverse episode (except ya know eliminating the creepy things). Which could be fun!

Though yeeting the squad into a Total Drama Island scenario could be hilarious. Everyone has a Miraculous and just the 'one use limit' is about the rules of the game. One use per challenge of the week(unless dictated otherwise by the Host's rules)

What’s your version of the plumbers helpers? And are they part of Ben’s team because I feel like they’ve been way less use in the series

I mentioned this in a few other posts before, but for the Plumber Helpers I do plan to include them more during the run of Alien Force, playing into Ben being a leader and forming a team to fight off the Highbreed, and later on Vilgax's return. This is the proper start to Ben's team through the rest of Ben 10, called "Alien Force" just so I can have fun with the title lol. Though by Ultimate Alien and Omniverse they would show up a little less, as you seem them becoming more serious with their Plumber training, climbing the ranks, and while they're still part of the 'Alien Force' squad, they do have their own jobs to do. I also mentioned elsewhere that I added Lucy to the Plumber Helpers, to both re-introduce her much earlier in the series, and because I think she makes a good fit for the team, being the spy for them. For those who are curious and can't find the note, by the end of Omniverse these are who are part of the 'Alien Force" squad. Ben, Azmuth, Kevin, Gwen, Rook, Helen, Manny, Pierce, Cooper, Alan, Lucy, Myaxx, Tetrax, Max, Xylene, Eunice, Azmuth’s family, Kai, Ester, Gluto, Julie, Ship & Zed. Basically the big group of heroes that come together when things get a little too chaotic and tough, each having a symbol like the Omnitrix somewhere. Along with Ben and sometimes Azmuth or Max being the leaders of this team.

was it the new dc movie slate that got you down? :( but anyway, if dc comics aren't bringing you joy anymore then I think it's good choice to take a break. hopefully you'll get stuff you'll like again some day.

yeah, like the comics are just really awful, have been for years with very short periods of quality that it's getting pointless to try and even wait it out

surrounding myself with people that somehow manage to like the stuff isn't great on the confidence or mind, because i'm literally putting myself in a place i'll get myself frustrated

but i was still like "AY, LOOK, I STILL GOT THE MOVIES"

but what they got planned? fuck that

I'm not watching the Flash, it has Ezra Miller. I'm not watching Aquaman it has Amber Heard. The Authority? Heard it was a good comic, but I'm just plain not going to have the same interest I had in a Guardians of the Galaxy or even The Suicide Squad.

Keeping some of the actors but getting rid of Henry Cavill? Fuck that. He's the only one I'd want to keep since Batfleck is done beyond cameos.

and i am certainly not watching The Brave And The Bold. I don't give a single living shit it might have the other Bat-Family members in it. What is the fucking point if they're there but we skip past the stories that'd be worth adapting. it's just literally fucking fan service, and the fact they're willing to skip so much only means they probably don't care about what makes them then, making it even less worth it

but i know the fandom will eat it up, so i'm certainly not going to be checking the tags again at least for a long time

i've already been decently far away from dc. most of my queue is months, maybe even over a year old actually. it literally posts one thing a day because that's the lowest i can set it. i actually wanted the queue to stop entirely when i did that, but i couldn't

sick of DC being just people's weird fan fictions. and i know technically every writer after the first is that. but their used to be some kind of standards that made it worth paying for

why should i pay for something that is half assed just in it's design?

been watching and reading about Ben 10 instead, 'cause I loved it as a kid and it's good nostalgia, and i already know i like it. and i'll probably start reading Ultimate Spider-Man, maybe I'll post about that stuff who knows

A person can only live off of old and sometimes dated comics for so long, especially with a fandom that pats itself on the back for being so nice, despite being filled with some of the most obnoxiously dense people that apparently have no way of detecting how obnoxious they're being

Lot of lovely people in the fandom don't get me wrong, but they're only getting fewer and far between, and I'm just not someone who can switch their opinions just to get the praise of a bunch of strangers i don't know

but will i like it again some day? very unlikely. everything is only going to get worse which it has been for years

i'm tired of stupid fucking sitcom bat-family

i liked the characters 'cause they were deep, layered, complex, and stood out. that isn't even remotely the case anymore

and DC films being James Gunn "what ever the fuck i want" universe was depressing. wasn't even properly mad. i didn't get red faced, i didn't feel this overwhelming sense of anger 'cause i no longer had the movies to look forward to. i was just disappointed, because 'Wow, i wasted my time being invested in this stuff even once'

the negatives of this experience of mine outweigh the positives
