Top 5 utterly insane things said by Caldwell?
sat on this for a bit because I was thinking about it, sorry!
“The Frogson to your Holmes” you can HEAR murph blink when he says this. It’s so iconic.
When he assumed that murph did not know who is on the $5 bill. Insane energy. Literally what the fuck.
(With his ENTIRE CHEST) “Horses know how to count!” Boston dungeon court live (now available in the main feed!) my absolute beloved. I was at that show and it RULED. and murph seemed exactly as baffled by the statement as you can hear in audio form but his face MADE the moment. Also, shoutout to the two people from the same party who presented the same case to dungeon court from different sides. Icons.
“A purposeful lad, who’s the dad of a turdis”. It’s the doubling down and taking 3 minutes to realize he fucked it up for me. King shit.
Something along the lines of “I finally watched frozen 2 and I can’t believe Olaf dies” the manner in which he casually says the spoiler. Sure everyone else doubled and quintupled down on the joke but Caldwell swung first

Frozen nods/ Easter eggs in Wish
Now I had to make this post because initially many people thought it was the new Frozen but it's nothing like Frozen in its own good way. But I wanted to point out a few things that I thought were inspiration from Frozen. And that's given because Jennifer Lee is part of this movie too.
Note : This is not meant for comparison as to which is better as people have different opinions nor is it a who is better in characters either. Take this as Frozen Easter eggs if you must.
Queen Elsa and Queen Amaya
The thing I noticed is the similarities between Elsa's main icy blue iconic dress (In Frozen and the end of Frozen 2) and Amaya's gown and their personalities too. Queen Amaya is portrayed with a long braid, an off the shoulder dress with a layered middle slit on the skirt, a triangular or pointed waistline and two long see through capes and not too mention the pointed ends of the sleeves. Plus both are Queens. The skirt also has an upwards pointed design like Elsa's fifth spirit gown. Now I'm not saying this is a bad thing but just that it was clear Elsa was her inspiration for her character. She also has similar poses to Elsa as seen below and her personality is calm and modest as a Queen. If Frozen kept Elsa's fifth spirit necklace from the concept art then that'd be another similarity with both of them wearing necklaces/ pendants.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amaya's design is honestly a very beautiful design and really gets me just excited for what Elsa's attire will be for Frozen 3 and 4. I'm just in awe of the dress structure too. I'm currently working on possibilities for that with Elsa's most iconic dress and her fifth spirit dress combining to one.
Hans and Simon
The other thing that I thought could be a nod and tease was to Hans with Simon. In my Wish review (previous post) I mention the good and bad sides to Simon's...
Spoilers below!!
... betrayal. In Wish, Simon betrays his friends and hands in Asha then the other friends. His friends call him a betrayer (I think it was). Then at the end after Magnifico is defeated, Simon apologizes to Asha. It was kind of a twist but I kinda saw it coming from the beginning and honestly not as good as Hans' twist despite him being the real villain of the movie and Simon not. In Frozen 2, everyone basically calls Hans a betrayer after he betrays the kingdom and Anna. But why I think this may be a possible hint of Hans' redemption in the upcoming Frozen movies, is because Simon apologizes too. Before I expand on that Simon does look like Hans with the shade of red hair too. But I know Hans won't be redeemed in the same way if he returns but I'm just saying it's possible that it's a hint by Jennifer (I know Hans fans would like to disagree but hear me out please) because I'm sure she has a sense of the story at the time of writing this.
I don't think it's right to compare Hans with Magnifico because they're nothing alike. Magnifico is self centered and loves power, in the magical and throne sense. Though Hans' movies appear as stealing the throne, if we read is backstory in 'A Frozen Heart' book, with the abuse by his brothers and father with no love or place it's kind of justifiable. Hans isn't self centered and wants the best for Arendelle even if it means killing Elsa to end this winter. Magnifico is a villain villain. Hans' has potential for redemption.
I know it's crazy but speaking of crazy...
“I/ We love crazy”
There's also a nod to Hans' “I love crazy” quote with Asha saying that talking animals and nature is crazy to which the talking mushrooms reply “We love crazy”. I loved it.
Just follow the string
Also I guess you could say, or at least I take the red string used by Star as a nod to Frozen Fever with Elsa using a red string to guide Anna to her birthday tour of presents around the castle and kingdom for Anna.
Valentino/ Star and Sven/ Olaf
With Valentino being the goat pet and Star being the magical creation born, it reminds me of Sven and Olaf. Valentino has a mischievous... I guess you could say.. personality and has a low/ deep voice. Sven doesn't talk but Kristoff makes his own voice deeper and humorous to do so. Star is a magical creation born out of a wish Asha, the protagonist, makes. He also has a humourous touch to him and a bit of nativity to him given he was just born. Olaf is the snowman Elsa, one of the protagonists, creates out of a subconscious desire to want to be free with her powers and feelings to create a snowman. Like Star he is funny, cute and is naïve at times. Not to mention both duos are chaotic and fun together and are males.
If I've missed any please do let me know and I'll edit it here! Hope you enjoyed Wish if you've watched it and enjoy Frozen's upcoming 10th anniversary while looking forward to Frozen 3 and 4!

okay, so, one aspect of goncharov that’s always stood out to me is the smoking motif that runs throughout the movie, and how it ties into the recurring clock symbolism
we basically have this setting of old and new, so much of the movie shot in these labyrinthian, italian streets that are hundreds of years old, except the plot is centered on a soviet melodrama. we have a contrast of the old world, and the new
meanwhile, the marlboro man had been a fixture of american culture for twenty years at this point (i bet y’all can see where i’m going with this)
goncharov is a movie about time. past, present, and future. it explores relationships that cannot be, because the timing is wrong. it contrasts history with contemporary political intrigue. and, at least to me (although I am borrowing heavily from Olaf Baudelaire’s 1989 essay “Smoke spills from your lips - an exploration of fire and eroticism, from the perspective of a former VFD member”) scorcese is making predictions about how smoking has shaped our identity, and how this sense of self is bound to be lost to time
in goncharov, smoking is something that is done in solitude, but it is also in the center of one of the movie’s most intimate and iconic scenes. any character who smokes is marked by the narrative, and they have their lives forever altered. at the end of the movie, what do they all have in common? the clock is ticking, time is running out - the future is out of reach. meanwhile, anyone who doesn’t smoke seems to be able to perceive a future for themselves. there’s still room for them in the new world
anyway. just like the marlboro man, they are bound to become fixtures of the past, and!! you guys!!! this is the insane part, because scorsese says this in 1974!! that’s over twenty years ahead of them officially retiring the marlboro man (and it’s very reminiscent of how cronenberg wrote a movie about eating plastic twenty years ahead of studies about microplastics being common knowledge)
and y’all know billy ray cyrus verse on old time road?
i'm like a marlboro man so i kick on back wish i could roll on back to that old town road i wanna ride 'til i can't no more
like i might be reading too much into it, but i think billy is a huge fan of goncharov, because why else would he create such a powerful, nostalgic callback to scorsese’s central themes? he positions himself as the fixture of the past; he’s the marlboro man; he’s goncharov; he’s andrey; he is any man, any person, for whom time has run out, who does not recognize the world around him
okay SORRY about this disjointed meta i just had to put it into words lol (and also not to imply that i ever want them to do a remake because goncharov is already perfect as is, but, you guys, fucking IMAGINE if they put old town road in there. i would die)

Healing The Blooming Crocus
=======
Chapter 2: She's a girl with the best intentions
=======
The two lovers came back to the party, Elsa a bit reluctant at first but encouraged by a wise Northuldra who knew how to choose the right words for her. Anna also had the final argument to prompt her into socializing with the crowd of diplomats she was about to meet at her birthday dinner. When the two girlfriends came back inside through a window of the first floor - Gale didn’t even need to help, Honeymaren’s lessons on how to climb trees came in handy - they met the Queen in the corridor. She told Elsa that, knowing her sister’s personality and with the wish to make her comfortable above anything else, she had purposely selected them to only be a small group. Elsa’s eyes sparkled in emotion at the news, and both Honeymaren and the Queen understood that it really was what had been bugging the blonde; to be surrounded with family was something she loved, but that was all. No need for big ceremonies and loud tables. Anna proceeded to explain and assure that the diplomats present only were open-minded and respectful ones, not the kind to awkwardly ask her for a dance or try to pull her into conversations. She had seen them personally multiple times in her international meetings for the past year, and she personally took the entire responsibility if one of them made Elsa feel like they ruined the party.
The immediate sigh and hug she received from the Spirit was a reward on its own. The redhead chuckled when Elsa muttered a long list of appreciations and loving thank yous to her ear, and once she stepped back, her hands on her shoulders to look at her leader of a younger sister, she also expressed her pride; Anna had done well in inviting politic and high-class figures for dinner that night, as it still was the iconic day of Yule, and many countries resounded with its signification. Elsa had felt a pinch to the heart when Anna had told her how it would go in a letter a few weeks ago, but now she admitted that it was a great idea for Arendelle’s image.
Anna grinned, and Honeymaren melted at the sight of the scene, remembering how stressed the blonde had been when she had read the letter. She could still perfectly recall how fast her pace was in their goahti.
Suddenly, Elsa frowned, visibly triggered by something, and it worried both women.
“What is Kristoff doing outside? I can sense that he's playing with the snow. I thought that kids were making snowmen downtown, not in the courtyard…”
Mattias had just walked by with Olaf while she said that, and he widened his eyes.
“Hold on, you can feel what's happening to nearby snow??”
Honeymaren was amused by his entrance, and smirked as she walked by him to go see by the window. “She can sense and control snow kilometers away, good sir.”
“Odin’s name, that’s impressive.” He murmured, astonished.
Honeymaren wanted to tease him by saying ‘Actually, you should refer to Ahtohallan’, but she gasped happily when she saw what Kristoff was doing.
“He’s not playing with the kids! Anna! Come see!” She grinned.
Anna stopped talking with Olaf and they all walked to the window.
Elsa grinned at the sight.
Kristoff was waving at them from the courtyard where he was alone, the staff and guests all inside with fresh falling snow and the cold of the night, and he was well equipped to face it. He mainly was waving at Anna at the window, and at his feet, in the snow, was completed a work he was really proud of. He had written ‘I LOVE YOU MY QUEEN’ with his boots, tracing letters all around the courtyard.
“Aww.” Beamed Olaf.
“It’s adorable.” Smiled Honeymaren.
“Hopefully this doesn’t overshadow you on your day?” Asked Mattias, both joking and serious.
Elsa’s amused head shake and huge smile proved that no offense was taken.
“Not at all. Quite the opposite, this is just amazing.”
She then giggled. “I love how he waited to make sure that nobody would see him. Though, to be honest, I think that sentimentality makes a good King.” She smiled at her sister.
Anna squealed in glee, then rushed to the door and the stairs to meet her husband outside. Her emotion had been palpable, and the blonde was glad that Kristoff really knew the little things that would brighten Anna’s day. Despite being, like Mattias stated, the main attraction of the day, Elsa knew that it was horrendous to organize everything, and Anna handled it all perfectly on her own. She deserved a break, even for a short moment before the dinner arrived, and the Spirit was really glad they were together.
The dinner turned out to be an absolute feast. Figuratively, it also was delightful for Elsa’s taste, between the numerous dishes that were her favorite ones and that Anna had definitely purposely asked the cooks to prepare with the most refine attention, the indeed hand-picked representatives that she only had to take several minutes to do the awkward introductions with, the small group of musicians playing a light melody in the center of the room, and the general disposition of the latter, the table being a huge U shape with her family on the center line.
In fact, for the very first time, at the sight of the seats and the easy recognition of everyone’s place as they all walked to them after presentations, Elsa realized that she missed Yelena and Ryder. She would have loved for them to be there. Anna and her had invited them to come, and they had modestly refused, but Elsa thought to herself that she should have insisted more. The emptiness in her heart was replaced by happiness when she noted that this meant she considered them family now.
Her smile didn’t escape Honeymaren, and even though she didn’t know what was on her mind, she was happy to see that she was comfortable in such a formerly feared dinner.
Once they all sat down, she put a hand on Elsa’s one that was on her thigh, and the Spirit gave her girlfriend a loving smile.
After a quick exchange with Anna, Kristoff stood up, and the room quickly turned to silence. It was nearly imperceptible, because Anna had made it so that the politicians present were quiet people, and they all whispered, something Elsa was very thankful for. But when the King started to make his way around the table and stood in front of it in the space that was until now reserved to musicians, everybody was attentive.
Kristoff smiled, particularly amused by Elsa’s eyes that had followed him and her visible confusion and emotion when she realized what was going on.
“I can’t allow myself to shadow the Snow Queen on her birthday and make something out of ice. So, for a change, I’m actually going to play something for you.” He said, in a powerful voice to make himself heard from the whole room, though everybody was listening.
Elsa gasped slightly in happy surprise, her hand lightly squeezing Honeymaren’s fingers that still were in her hand, and she gave a grin to Anna on her other side.
Kristoff picked the lute from the band, and the musicians seemed to be looking forward to listening to him. It was a proof of his talent, and the blonde smiled even wider.
“Wait…” Murmured Honeymaren, bending to see Anna. “He can take care of reindeers, cut and lift ice, be King, and he knows how to play an instrument? How many skills does he have??”
Anna bent too, grinning. “Why do you think I married him?”

✨ Himbos ✨
I present to you, a ranking of my favourite H(eart)I(idiocy)M(muscle)B(beefiness) O(ptimism)'s
Kristoff: 9/10
Tumblr media
Starting off strong. We love this energy. He loves anna. He can lift heavy things. Loves animals and rocks so much that he is more of a lesbian than elsa. Loses points for threatening to tell Olaf that he is allergic to summer :(
Harry james potter: 8/10
Tumblr media
Ok, dont @ me. Yes, he is a scrawny lil shit but he is so fucking dumb. Hes so sweet. Bitch went to a ghosts death day party on the anniversary of his parents death. Boi just wants to eat his treacle tart and live his life and I respect that.
Harvey Kinkle/Ross Lynch: 10/10
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harvey is such a Himbo omg. In all of these things nobody ever mentions him and that is erasure that I simply wont tolerate any longer. Gorgeous and completely clueless, just wants to hang out with his girlfriend. A himbo and a simp. Ross lynch also counts because he is lovely and pretty and dumb which actually means every character he ever plays is automatically a himbo.
Prince Edward: 1000/10
Tumblr media
Doesnt get any more HIMBO than this bitch. An icon. We will forever stan. Prince of Andelasia but King of the Himbos

Favorite TV Shows & Movies I watched in 2020
In chronological order, divided by month.
J A N U A R Y
Anne with an E Season 3
Tumblr media
What a beautiful season! I loved Anne’s character growth and her relationship with Matthew and Marilla. This season had so many interesting storylines and compelling characters. I always love the life lessons and women empowerment this show presents. The romantic aspects of the season and the kiss in that last episode were perfect.
Parasite (2019)
Tumblr media
This is a masterpiece. I watched it with my family on cinemas and we all loved it. The acting was great, there was a perfect combination of comedy and drama and the ending was amazing; it was depressing yet very realistic that it hurt my soul.
F E B R U A R Y
Ragnarok Season 1
Tumblr media
Never thought I’d like a show about Thor, but this take on norse mythology was amazing to watch. I loved the protagonist and the setting of the show. This is a Norwegian fantasy show and all the actors are very talented. The characters (although weird) were very unique and the ending left me so excited for season 2.
Altered Carbon Season 1
Tumblr media
This is not only a show, is an experience. The cast, the setting, the plot and the relationships are fantastic. It has many action scenes I enjoyed, it has mystery and a great protagonist. The world building is so rich and interesting. I love Joel Kinnaman and Martha Higareda, they did an amazing acting job and their chemistry was wonderful. Everything about s1 was so great but, don’t watch s2, it is terrible. You can just watch season 1 as a mini series and be happy.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Tumblr media
This movie broke my heart but also made me laugh so hard. I love the characters and the actors. The soundtrack was brilliant and the development of the story was so well done. It has many remarkable moments and quotes I loved. I never thought I’d like a movie about the second world war this much but I did. This movie deserves so much more recognition because it is fantastic, one of my all time favorites.
M A R C H
Elite Season 3
Tumblr media
Not the best season of the show but it was great. It was one of my most anticipated season premieres and I binge-watched it like crazy. I love the characters and the relationships, I’m so invested in all the stories and the vibe of this show. The new characters were the weakest part of the season but overall there were many amazing moments I loved. Even Kevin McHale made a cameo!! Can’t wait for season 4.
The Chronicles of Narnia trilogy (2005 - 2010)
Tumblr media
I watched these movies after reading the book series and I feel in love with the characters. I love the Pevensies so much, Edmund is my favorite but I love them all. The lion the witch and the wardrobe is my favorite movie out of the 3 but they all are great movies in my opinion. Caspian is also a fantastic character. The magic and the meaning of the stories are amazing and timeless.
The hunger games saga (2012 - 2015)
Tumblr media
I rewatched this saga with my sister and we loved it. We cried and suffered throughout Mockingjay part 1 & 2 of course. I love this world so much, it is vast, interesting and full of epic moments. Katniss is a queen and Peeta is my beautiful soft boy. I love Finnick, Haymitch, Effie and many other characters. The social commentary of these movies and the rebellion are very impactful aspects the saga achieved.
A P R I L
El hoyo (2019)
Tumblr media
This movie is disturbing in many ways but it is so great. This is a dystopia that talks about the worst aspects of society. It’s hard to see people’s behaviors and attitudes towards each other but you know they are realistic. The movie shows many things you can reflect on. The acting was great, the characters were interesting and the tone was grimm and mysterious.
Outer Banks Season 1
Tumblr media
Teenage drama, summer setting, a hidden treasure and many adventures. The characters are interesting, the cast is gorgeous and the found family relationship of the group is beautiful. This show feels so fresh and exciting, the plot is very fun to follow but it also deals with hard topics like toxic relationships and abusive families.
M A Y
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 (2010) & part 2 (2011)
Tumblr media
I rewatched these movies after reading the book and I fell more in love with the world, with Harry and with the conclusion of the story. I love part 1 a little bit more but both movies have such an epic feeling to me. I love the anticipation for the Battle of Hogwarts and the exciting fighting scenes. The ending always makes me cry, I love it.
The imitation game (2014)
Tumblr media
This movie is so important, everyone should watch it. It is based on true events and Benedict Cumberbatch is amazing in it, his performance was stunning. I loved the protagonist, the story and the side characters. Upon this rewatch I noticed more how everything was remarkable, there were a lot of well written dramatic scenes and the moments near the end broke my heart.
J U N E
Gotham Season 5
Tumblr media
I love Gotham so much!!! This season was amazing but so short, I needed more. I love Bruce and seeing how he became Batman was an epic experience. I love the heroes, the villains, the dynamics between many characters and the humor of this show. I will miss Gotham and the many great episodes and adventures it gave me. Also, I love Oswald and Nygma together and for me they are married and in love.
Dark Season 1 - 3
Tumblr media
I rewatched the first 2 seasons in preparation for the third one’s premiere and I watched s3 in a day. I was so obsessed. This show is so brilliant, it plays with your mind and it deals with a lot of existential topics. I love it so so much, is one of my favorites forever. Season 2 is my favorite but overall the show has so many great things to offer. It has drama, great characters, shocking plot twists, an ideal amount of romance and the weirdest, most complicated family tree ever.
Star Wars Original trilogy (1977 - 1883)
Tumblr media
I’m surprised I finally watched these movies, and I’m even more surprised I loved them! Luke is a fantastic protagonist, Darth Vader is an epic villain and the world is so immersive. I want to be a Jedi, I want to have adventures around the galaxy. I love Han and Leia’s love story and I love R2, C-3PO and Chewie.
J U L Y
Star Wars Sequel trilogy (2015 - 2019)
Tumblr media
These movies for me were amazing, well episode 9 not so much but overall the trilogy was great. I love the new characters and all the references to the original trilogy. Episode 7 feels so nostalgic to me even though I watched the whole Star Wars saga this year. I love the character development of practically every single character here and I love the epic feeling of the fight scenes. In my opinion this trilogy is worth watching, you can’t change my mind.
Barbie and the magic of pegasus (2005)
Tumblr media
I’m a sucker for old Barbie movies and this year I made a rewatch marathon with my sister. This one was the one that stayed on my mind for many weeks. I love the magic of the story and the relationship between Annika and Aidan.
The truth about the Harry Quebert affair Season 1
Tumblr media
Amazing actors, intriguing premise and a well written mystery. I love this show and its book so much, this is an awesome book to tv adaptation. The plot is brilliant, the setting is beautiful and the characters are interesting. I love Harry and Marcus’s relationship, I love Nola, I love how the pieces fit together so perfectly and how there are no loose ends. This show is very underrated, it deserves more recognition because it’s fantastic.
The baby-sitters club Season 1
Tumblr media
This show is so cute and funny. I love the cast, they’re perfect for their roles. It has quite a simple premise but it talks about many important topics of today’s society. The aesthetic of the show is so beautiful, is perfect to watch with you family and it has great pop culture references. I love the vibe of the show and I’m so glad it got renewed for a second season!
A U G U S T
The umbrella academy Season 2
Tumblr media
I watched this twice and I liked it better the second time around. I still can’t decide which Hargreeves I love the most, they’re all amazing in their own way. This season was great, it had many beautiful moments and great action sequences. It also had baby Pogo. Do yourself a favor: watch it and listen to the soundtrack.
House of Anubis Season 1
Tumblr media
I rewatched one of my favorite shows of my pre-teenage years and I loved season 1 a lot, s2 is not that great and s3 doesn’t exist for me but s1 is perfect. I love the mystery, the boarding school setting, the teen drama and the characters so much. Fabina forever!!!
The truman show (1998)
Tumblr media
This movie is FANTASTIC. It has comedy, drama, romance and sci-fi elements with a concept that makes it an instant classic. This was the first time I watched it and I’m amazed by how brilliant it is and how many references to spirituality and capitalism it has. It has a great villain and a protagonist whose character arc is wonderful to watch. I loved the iconic Truman Burbank quote and the ending was just perfect.
S E P T E M B E R
A series of unfortunate events Season 2 & 3
Tumblr media
Rewatching and old favorite always feels so great. I have no words to describe how much I love this series and the Baudelaire siblings. This show is perfect, it has a hilarious sense of humor I love. I love the drama, the tragedy and the ridiculous schemes Count Olaf plots. It also has music and a cast of actors I adore. Season 1 is also amazing but my favorites are 2 & 3.
Tinker Bell and the great fairy rescue (2010)
Tumblr media
I made a marathon of all the Tinker Bell movies with my sister and this one was a surprise. I never thought I’d like it because my memories of it weren’t particularly good but wow, this movie was so cute and full of heart. Everything you hope to see in a fairies movie is here. It’s entertaining and very magical.
O C T O B E R
Julie and the Phantoms Season 1
Tumblr media
BEST SHOW EVER! I’ve been screaming my love for jatp everywhere, I even made a video about it. This show came to save my 2020. I love the characters, the cast, the ships, the MUSIC, the plot... Every single thing is amazing. I can’t recommend it enough, please watch it and you will see the great masterpiece Kenny Ortega created.
The rocky horror picture show (1975)
Tumblr media
I rewatched this movie for Halloween and I realised how much I enjoy it. I love it. It is weird and very sexual but it’s brilliant and has awesome songs. The characters are unique and the situations are bizzarre, the plot starts being simple but it ends in full science fiction madness. Now I need to go to a screening of the movie.
N O V E M B E R
Lost Season 4
Tumblr media
I mention only season 4 because with this rewatch I realized it’s my favorite but ALL SEASONS are part of my best tv shows of the year. Lost is a show that changed my perspective on tv and gave me so many great life lessons. It is a masterpiece. It has an awesome cast of characters, drama, comedy and mystery. This show is superior to newer shows in many ways, it is so well done and the season finales are always packed with action and emotive moments. It uses foreshadowing, flashbacks, flashforwards and many other brilliant narrative devices that make the show a unique experience. Worth watching even after many years after its ending.

Gravity Falls Season 1 & 2
Tumblr media
Another rewatch. This is my favorite animated show. I love it so so much. Dipper Pines and me are practically the same person, I relate to him a lot. I love the mystery of the show, all the supernatural creatures, the science fiction and the plot twists. This is more than just a show for kids, this is a masterpiece of storytelling and animation.
Alice in Wonderland (1951)
Tumblr media
I decided after re-reading the books to give this movie another chance because I didn’t use to like it. But oh boy, this time I loved it. I loved the songs and the madness of Wonderland. I get now why is many people’s favorite.
The queen’s gambit Season 1
Tumblr media
I guess I love chess now, like every person who watched this show. The acting was superb, the characters and the plot were very well written. The pacing, the soundtrack, the setting, I loved everything. Anya Taylor-Joy is a queen, I have no doubt of that. I loved the ending, I was so proud of Beth Harmon!
A Christmas carol (2009)
Tumblr media
My sister has always loved this movie but I wasn’t a big fan. This year I read the book, and watching the movie again made me appreciate the story a lot. I’m a big fan now, I think this movie is unique because it has motion capture animation, a timeless story and Jim Carrey acting multiple roles. A true gem in my opinion.

Not saying I don’t believe you but maybe scheduling changed. Here’s the description from the BBC’s website: Joining Graham tonight are musical icon Lady Gaga, starring in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, Frozen star Josh Gad, voicing new series Olaf Presents, celebrity chef Nadiya Hussain, promoting Nadiya’s Fast Flavours, and Hollywood superstar Will Smith, who drops in for a chat. Plus music from Rod Stewart, who performs his single One More Time.
Does anyone know if the website used to list Adam Driver's name? I just think it's a bad PR strategy to have it announced on a tv show that you'll be on next week, and then pull out Anyone know what's up?

Non-sequitura Disney in-depth analysis (after making a tier list)
Warning: SUPER longform. If you don’t know a movie well, you should skip the summary. I tried to be light on spoilers, but they’re there.
I went chronologically from favorite to least favorite. So S tier is, in order from fave to least fave, The Incredibles, WALL-E, then Zootopia.
S tier (Something I consider high quality AND a movie I greatly enjoy. I would love more Disney movies be like this.)
The Incredibles - one of my favorite movies of all time, possibly THE favorite. Rockin social commentary, epic action scenes, memorable characters, not a minute of screentime wasted, great take on the Fantastic Four, hilarious parts for both adults and children, an interesting villain, etc.
WALL-E - I love how social commentary was done here. Also skies above, what a beautiful love story. Really blazed a trail in non-verbal storytelling (especially given it was an animated kids film!) Robot animations are particularly delightful.
Zootopia - another social message delivered excellently and entertainingly. I love Judy and her persistence, I love the expressiveness of the faces and the epic city setting. I love Judy and Nick's banter. This movie deserves to be remembered longer than it has been so far. Admittedly, not one of my fave villains, which makes it my least favorite of the Ss.
A tier (either super high quality or something I greatly enjoy and deem of at least reasonably good quality)
Mulan - this movie did everything right. Truly feminist protagonist, an icon for strong Asian women, fairly culturally accurate (tho Mushu confuses me), GORGEOUS and iconic music. Lets a relatively natural romance develop. I frickin love the action scenes, I love the emporer. Sadly, this movie just didn't lodge its way in my heart as well as Pixar did. Pixar just has some magic, yo.
Cinderella - my gosh what an underrated protagonist. Her family straight-up abuses her and she never loses sight of her goals for a better life. Iconic visuals helped bring Disney out of bankruptcy. A gorgeous alto singing voice.
Wreck-it Ralph - alright alright ppl don’t crucify me for this. I honestly can’t think of much wrong with this movie. Vanellope and Ralph’s vitriolic best buds relationship is adorable, her forgiveness of him is heartwarming and (relatively) deserved, rockin’ Owl City song, epic visuals that mix together bc of all the different games. ALSO ONE OF THE BEST DISNEY VILLAINS NO CAP. One of the only twist villains I like. And we stan the romantic pairing.
Tangled - I’ve talked about this a lot, but Rapunzel deserved the whole world after what she’s gone through. That being said, Gothel is not some shallow monster she needs to escape from, but an intelligent, well-defined monster with backstory. I could totally see this story happening if the world of Tangled existed. Epic love story, hilarious dialogue. Music is… good but much of it is less memorable to me. Visuals are good but not quite at the level/creativity of many other disney films.
The Lion King - they really put Hamlet in Africa and pulled it off lol. But in all seriousness, no one took the premise of this film seriously at the time and it became sooo iconic. I love Scar and his eventual downfall, I love how Simba grows emotionally, I love the sad moments that don’t overpower the overall feeling of light goofiness. And music so memorable it was one of the first Disney musicals.
Coco - not a super unique story premise. But an incredible culture to explore with such creativity and sensitivity. I love the themes of death not being the worst and music being so central to the story. Twist/twist villain was memorable and not expected. And yeah, it did make me cry, so props there.
Ratatouille - the most recently watched of these films for me. This movie is soooo unique! Back when Pixar was truly super out there with their concepts. Super Parisian visuals and soundtrack. It somehow starts goofy (THE OLD LADY TRIES TO KILL REMY WITH A SHOTGUN WHILE WEARING A GAS MASK) but really drives home the message that you can truly do what you want regardless of who you are. Colette can get it. And the monologue by Ego at the end is one of my favorites in film.
Frozen - Anna is one of my favorite Disney protagonists. She’s so resilient and loyal. Elsa ain’t bad either but she experiences… less character development. The film is a tad too pleased with its own self-awareness for my taste, but there’s no denying how iconic the music and visuals were.
Inside Out - Alright, this movie hits home for me bc I tried to run away after moving. A super thoughtful, heartfelt depiction of (potentially depression? imo) with great moments of humor. Riley’s inner world is so creative and lovely. Also realistic depictions of Minnesota/California culture.
Tarzan - Jane! is! smart! and! adorable! Her scientific curiosity makes her very endearing. it’s so cute to see her and Tarzan learn from each other. Also Tarzan’s “found mother” is epic. Solid score. Solid film all around. To quote Lily Orchard, “This film is what Pocahontas tried to be.”
B tier (one of my favorites but has a few significant flaws that bring it down (or not quite as memorable to me, but consider good quality))
Peter Pan - Haven’t seen it in a hot sec, but I remember being super charmed by this as a kid. Just going out, having incredible adventures, and returning to a warm home at the end of the day. Tinker Bell is hilarious and beautifully drawn. Gets major negative points for the depiction of Native Americans tho.
Big Hero 6 - I was super charmed by the protagonist, his family/friends, and the setting. The plot/villain’s motivations are a bit of a mess, though.
Princess and the Frog - This movie has so much flavor to it! The visuals/music are lovely and unique. Tiana is incredible but it’s kinda annoying how EVERYONE keeps trying to shoehorn her into romance. The thing is, her goals are entirely reasonable. Focus on her restaurant, then look to settle down. But they’re like “nooo you’re ignoring the important things in life” smh. Also, epic villain, woohoo! The movie dragged significantly for me when they were in the bayou. Charlotte is delightful.
Winnie the Pooh - don’t remember it super well, but I think it was charming and occasionally dark, which is an addictive concoction.
The Little Mermaid - MAN ppl roast Ariel way more than she deserves. Visually, it was… fine. idk. This movie is good. I don’t have much else to say about it.
Snow White - the one that started it all. Visually, super impressive. Musically, lovely. I find the romance a bit… off. Well, more than a bit. What is it with Disney and kissing sleeping people?
Alice in Wonderland - a nerdy acid trip. Right up my alley! I also like films where ppl go on incredible adventures and return to the status quo, but THEY changed bc of it. Epic. SUUUUPER creative visual interpretation of Carroll’s book. Brave - gosh I loooove films where a parent and child learn to understand each other. Never got why ppl hated this movie so much. The Scottish flavor is present and fun. Merida made one mistake and made it up. The arrow scene is iconic.
Cars - a fun ride! (hahaha puns.) We love seeing Paul Newman as a car.
B-minus tier? (same as B, but problematic, or weaker story-wise.)
Hunchback - man… settings-wise, this film might be my favorite. I also love Esmeralda and Quasimodo as characters and as a duo (though the sexualized depiction of Romani ppl is not epic.) I also don’t find the discrimination against Esmeralda/Quasimodo jarring bc it matches the time period. Frollo is super interesting as a villain. The gargoyles are… def not necessary. Basically, this film doesn’t know what it’s doing with tone.
Sleeping Beauty - Aurora was my favorite when I was younger because I thought she was the prettiest, and that still defines how i feel about this, basically. Visually lovely - everything is kind of elongated and gothic. Maleficent is spiteful and epic. I have no issue with the fluffier parts of the movie, like the music or the fairies. RIP for lack of consent being a plot point, though.
Hercules - Megara is incredible. one of the only Disney “princesses” who acts like an adult and has cynicism as a major part of her personality. I love her and Herc’s progression where she learns to trust him (yes, he is genuinely that sincere, it’s not a front.) Muses are unique, whoever came up with them was high on something and I’m living for it. I just think the plot itself was somewhat unrealistic/ weirdly-paced. There are some memorable songs, some less-than-memorable songs. Art style is cool but I’m personally not a fan. EXTREMELY inaccurate depictions of the original Greek gods.
C tier (entertaining, but I don't consider it a great movie)
Bolt - I watched this like 11 years ago. It was fun! A cool concept about those put on a pedestal learning their worth even without celebrity boosting them up. Animation was… fine I think. not super memorable to me.
Frozen 2 - They really took any scrap of character development Elsa had in the first movie, threw it in the garbage and set it on fire. Anna deserved so much better. Songs are bombastic and impressive, have the occasional interesting lyric, but are really weirdly placed and none are quite as iconic as the first movie’s (except Aurora, she does great work here. Also the song Anna sings after she thinks Elsa died.)
Not a big fan of the vaguely homeopathic theme. Not a big fan of Olaf’s WEIRD character development. Not a big fan of the suuuuuper awkward dialogue and the animations that imply not only that Kristoff is into his reindeer but that Elsa and Anna are into each other (if you’re questioning if they did that, yes, they did, I can find screenshots of some really weird expressions/moments. THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO PANDER TO YOUR WEIRD FANS, DISNEY.)
The voice actors did great work, the animators did great work (look at the details on their clothes! Look at how Elsa’s posture changes to be more confident! look at how they're animated while they're singing!) Some weird costume/makeup choices that make Elsa look like an aging starlet, but she also has some gorgeous moments so eh. It’s a wash for me.
They really did not know what to do with Kristoff this movie, huh. The only thing that happened to him was singing a cheesy 90s ballad and marrying Anna, both of which were admittedly epic. Also, the trolls got 0 appearances despite being literally psychic. Probably could have helped with a lot. I'm not a huge fan of lore/worldbuilding, and thee was a lot of it here. Overall neutral on it.
Also a big theme in this movie I don’t love - **** TANGIBLE CONSEQUENCES TO OUR ACTIONS!!! The danger is Elsa’s death, the elements, colonialism, and Arendelle literally being destroyed. None of those end up playing out, so I was left at the end going “this film had literally no stakes.”
Monsters U - same as above - entertaining at the time! Not super memorable. The ppl we were supposed to dislike kept switching. Doesn’t really match the canon of Monsters Inc (I thought they were supposed to have known each other since childhood so why did they meet in college?)
Cars 3 - so apparently, everyone HATED this movie! Fun! I never watched Cars 2 (yes watched Cars 1 if you haven’t been paying attention to this list), but I didn’t think this movie was bad at all. Well-acted, some fun chase scenes, the scene where Lightning fails at driving in the simulation is genuinely hilarious, and some interesting perspectives on teachers getting the spotlight for their skills for once.
Incredibles 2 - I liked this film at first, but then it was… just okay in retrospect. I love me some good family dynamics. The plot here makes not a lot of sense. THEY BUILT UP THE UNDERMINER FOR NOTHING AND THEN FORGOT ABOUT HIM. I was surprised by the villain swap, but it happened so last minute I never really understood their motivations even after they explained them. Tried to tackle waaaay too many messages.
D tier (I didn't enjoy these or consider them mediocre)
Finding Dory - Maybe I should have put this higher? Like C tier at least. Ah well. Wasn’t a huge fan of the body/physical comedy (not my thing), but it was entertaining and awww finding family is heartwarming.
Finding Nemo - I remember nothing about this movie.
E tier (this film has significant problems)
Beauty and the Beast - *sigh*… I want to love this movie. The score is gorgeous. Visually, they could have made it more distinctly Rococo-era France but didn’t (why?) The voice actors did good work and I think Paige O’Hara is SUPER underrated here.
The Beast is emotionally manipulative with an awful temper that (for MOST of the movie. He doesn’t change.) That’s the main reason this is in E tier. This movie shaped so many generations of people thinking they can change the behavior of someone who treats them badly through the power of love. But you can’t. She learns to “love” the beast under coercion. It’s not Stockholm syndrome - it’s a trashy romance novel. Big fan of Gaston as a villain. He’s an archetype ppl can recognize and it’s so satisfying to hate him.
F tier (I think this film actively harms the industry and would rather it not have been made. Both the one in E tier could be considered harmful to the industry, but I think they had significant enough artistic accomplishments to scrape above that. I'm also generally a fan of "lack of censorship bc it's better to teach what not to do.")
Pocahontas - this movie took real historical events and romanticized them AND sexualized one of the only Native princesses they’ve had. Boo. Nothing wrong with animation!Pocahontas as a character, it’s just people put her in a story that doesn’t represent history well at all (and these historical events, unlike those in say, 14th-century Germany, had super relevant effects on people alive today.) And they portrayed the Native Americans and colonial settlers as equally in the wrong. (though I like Governor Radcliffe as a potential villain and love the line “see how I glitter.” I can’t NOT laugh when I hear it.) Lovely music, though. Nice animation, but the colors are weirdly… muted?
Bad Garbage (I don't wish this film had never been made, but I wish I never had to see it.)
Planes - this movie was ridiculous. I remember not much about it except that I kinda hated it and that it was super cheesy with tension one could see right through that immediately resolved itself via one twist or another.
Haven’t seen tier: Recess, A Bug’s Life, A Goofy Movie, DuckTakes Movie, Lilo and Stitch, Pinocchio (actually i have seen this but I remember nothing about it), The Nightmare before Christmas, Toy Stories 1, 2, and 3, Up, 101 Dalmatians, The Great Mouse Detective, Cars 2, Moana, The Good Dinosaur, Pete’s Dragon, Fantasia, Peter Pan Return to Neverland, Fantasia 2000, The Black Cauldron (read the book, though!), Bambi (or I did and remember nothing about it), The Rescuersm, The Rescuers Down Under, Planes Fire and Rescue, Bambi 2, The Fox & the Found, Oliver and Company, Atlantis, Treasure Planet (I want to, though), Piglet’s Big Movie, The Jungle Book, the Emporer’s New Groove, The Jungle Book 2, Chicken Little, Brother Bear, The Three Caballeros, Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, Dumbo, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Aladdin (seen parts but never the whole thing), Strange Magic, The Sword in the Stone, James and the Giant Peach, Frankenweenie, Lady and the Tramp, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Doug’s 1st Movie, Monsters Inc. (want to, though), Meet the Robinsons, Dinosaur, The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Tigger Movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, that pooh movie at the end without the title on it

youtube
The exhibition title is taken from a term coined by Korean American artist Nam June Paik who is considered to be the founder of video art. Paik is credited with an early usage (1974) of the term "electronic super highway" in application to telecommunications: "The building of new electronic super highways will become an even huger enterprise. Assuming we connect New York with Los Angeles by means of an electronic telecommunication network that operates in strong transmission ranges, as well as with continental satellites, wave guides, bundled coaxial cable, and later also via laser beam fiber optics: the expenditure would be about the same as for a Moon landing, except that the benefits in term of by-products would be greater”. In the 1970s, Paik imagined a global community of viewers for what he called a Video Common Market which would disseminate videos freely. The Whitechapel Gallery in London presents this major exhibition bringing together over 100 works to show the impact of computer and Internet technologies on artists from 1966 to 2016. Arranged in reverse chronological order, Electronic Superhighway begins with works made at the arrival of the new millennium, and ends with Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T), an iconic, artistic moment that took place in 1966. Key moments in the history of art and the Internet emerge as the exhibition travels back in time. The exhibition runs from 29 January to 15 May 2016 featuring new and rarely seen multimedia works, together with film, painting, sculpture, photography and drawing. The full list of artists included in Electronic Superhighway (2016-1966) are: Jacob Appelbaum / Cory Arcangel / Roy Ascott / Jeremy Bailey / Judith Barry / Wafaa Bilal / Zach Blas / Olaf Breuning / James Bridle / Heath Bunting / Bureau of Inverse / Technology (B.I.T.) / Antoine Catala / Aristarkh Chernyshev / Petra Cortright / Vuk Ćosić / Douglas Coupland / CTG (Computer Technique Group) / Cybernetic Serendipity / Aleksandra Domanović / Constant Dullaart / Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.) / Harun Farocki / Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige / Celia Hempton / Camille Henrot / Gary Hill / Ann Hirsch / Nancy Holt and Richard Serra / JODI / Eduardo Kac / Allan Kaprow / Hiroshi Kawano / Mahmoud Khaled / Oliver Laric / Jan Robert Leegte / Lynn Hershman Leeson / Olia Lialina /Tony Longson / Rafael Lozano-Hemmer / Jonas Lund / Jill Magid / Eva and Franco Mattes / Model Court / Vera Molnar / Mouchette (Martine Neddam) / Manfred Mohr / Jayson Musson / Frieder Nake / Joshua Nathanson / Katja Novitskova / Mendi + Keith Obadike / Albert Oehlen / Trevor Paglen / Nam June Paik / Jon Rafman / Evan Roth / Thomas Ruff / Alex Ruthner / Jacolby Satterwhite / Lillian F. Thoughts On: Frozen II
So I saw Frozen 2 today. Definitely a movie for the fans. It explains the lore behind why Elsa has powers and wrapped up the story in a nice conclusion.
Not a review. Just some disorganized thoughts.
Spoilers Below Cut
Where to start?
Beginning: Backstory
Water… Fire…. Earth… Air… Elsa is the Avatar!!
So when Anna and Elsa’s father was explaining what happened in the past I couldn’t help but wonder why they didn’t remember it earlier. Frozen 2 happens three years post Frozen 1 so there was time. I suppose it could be explained away that the call of the wild could have been muted from Elsa’s turbulent feelings pre/post parents’ death to end of F1 and then waiting until she was at peace with herself and in a good place or something idk. Or possibly they forgot too… since they were small children…
Oh and trying to figure out why Elsa had powers and Anna didn’t, I definitely thought it was going to be revealed that Elsa was adopted from the people up north or her mom had an affair (wouldn’t happen but well…) but I was wrong.
Songs
They don’t feel as catchy this time around but that’s okay. Please. No more earworms!! My friend mentioned that it may be because F1 was made to be a standalone so they went off with the music then.
A lot of the songs actually kinda felt like they were trying to teach kids something. Like ‘Change is inevitable!!’ or ‘In time you will understand the complexities of life!!’. They felt less fun because of that since it was sending a more serious message to fit the more serious overall tone of the movie. (Though the presentation of Olaf’s song and Kristoff’s were both hilarious)
Speaking of Kristoff’s 80’s rock ballad? Funny. Iconic. Instant classic. It’s funny how Kristoff is kinda just there the entire movie. Yes he does help them and is on the adventure but he doesn’t really have a character arc. It more like he’s there to cry about failing to propose to Anna.
The second ending credit song?? 👌 Kacey Musgraves’s cover of All is Found is great, amazing, I’m in love.
Let It Go vs Into the Unknown
In Frozen 1 when Elsa goes on her ice palace montage, it shows the environment around her as she belts Let It Go. This time with Into the Unknown it was just a black screen with her magic appearing around. Which yes it showcases the different elements waking up/stirring and how Elsa is key to that but I wish it was presented in a different way. It wasn’t visually interesting I guess but that is mostly a personal preference.
Race
So. Someone else will write about this and it will be way more clear than what I put down.
So the Northuldra people share traits with the Sami, natives of Scandinavia & northernwest Russia. The citizens of Arendelle are mixed with Caucasian and black people (Black people were added post F1). Anna & Elsa’s mom is from the north. She doesn’t have any of the northern people’s traits. It could be argued that she was found and adopted into their village or that she was mixed (since some of the Northuldran characters have blue eyes or a lighter brown hair color), but there’s not really an argument in the movie. So Anna & Elsa are half Northuldran. Which is, okay??? I guess?? It just reminds me of those people who are clearly white who say that they’re half a percent Navajo.
It also seems a little cliche. Even though Anna & Elsa’s grandfather was in the wrong the entire time, their parents were like a Romeo & Juliet who had kids that would bridge the gap between the two people as well as save them all blah blah blah.
Frozen’s not cancelled because cancel culture is toxic and I did enjoy this movie. Just mixed feelings on this. That’s all.
Olaf
“I’ve found one thing that’s permanent; it’s L-“ (Me: DEATH!)
[Exit OLAF stage left]
Me: This movie will not make me cry over Olaf.
[Moments Later]
Little girl : Where’s Olaf? ….where’s Olaf?
This is the exact opposite of when the little girl replied back to Dora when she broke 4th wall to ask if we could say ‘Delicioso’.
Anyway I hated Olaf in the first movie. He was and remains comic relief. Which is fine. That’s his character. In the first movie he was just kind of annoying but he didn’t come off as annoying this time. I think I will have to rewatch F1 again to figure out why.
MISC
The fifth element is- Ice!!
According to my friend the plot of Frozen 2 is basically the plot of The Fifth Element. That’s it. No other thoughts.
Elsa talked to a girl once and I thought she was going to come out as a lesbian.
They have a list of Production Babies in the end credits. [kiddos who were born during the making of the movie lol]
Even Elsa knows how dramatic she was during Let It Go
Every single one of Elsa’s outfits slaps.
Elsa with a ponytail! Elsa with her hair down!!!
That’s it. Those are my thoughts. Movie good. The end. Bye
