Paralyzed (Josuke x GN! Reader)
heavily inspired by the Big Time Rush song "Paralyzed".
highschool reunion
It's been years since you graduated highschool. Five, to be exact. You were currently getting ready to go to the five year reunion.
It's been such a long time since you stepped out of the school's gates and you really missed that place. You missed your old friends.
You went no contact with most of your colleagues. The only one that stuck around was Koichi, but you were barely talking even with him.
The moment you put your shoes on, your phone started ringing. "Are you here?" you asked after you picked it up.
"Yes, me and Yukako are outside! Now, come on, we're gonna be late!" he answered and you hang up, gathering your things.
You were honestly nervous to meet up with your old classmates, but the one you were most excited to see again was Josuke. Even if he and Koichi were best friends, you refused to meet up with him, since you were afraid to see him.
You two weren't exactly close in highschool because then you weren't as talktive as you were now. Sighing, you checked yourself again and smiled.
You got out of the house, locking it and a honk could be heared. Yukako and Koichi were in their car. They hadn't aged a bit. And she was still taller than him.
You flashed a smile and picked up your pace to their car. "Thanks for picking me up!" you said entering the car.
"No problem. It's been so long since we've seen each other!" Yukako said from the driver's seat and you agreed with her. "You didn't change at all since I last saw you three years ago. How have you been?"
"Pretty good. College has been hard but I managed to graduate it." you answered simply.
You three talked on the way to the restaurant all of your colleagues agreed to meet at. The ride wasn't long, but you felt suffocated the entire time.
You three stepped out of the car and, within a few minutes, inside of the restaurant and you looked around for your ex-classmates.
The second you got inside, Okuyasu noticed you. He shook Josuke a little, diverting his attention from the small talk he made with Hara to you.
And nothing could describe the way he felt.
It felt like time stopped.
"Look! Koichi, Yukako and Y/N came!" The other boy said, but Josuke couldn't muster a word. His eyes were fixed on you, his mouth almost falling open.
You were even prettier than you were back in 2004, when you graduated. His heart sped up and he couldn't take his eyes off you.
Truth be told, he never got over his little crush he had on you. Sure, he did have significant others in the time that passed, but none compared to you.
You were one of a kind and he couldn't forget you at all.
"Hello." you spoke when you arrived at the table and everyone turned to you. Some of them got up and hugged you, talking to you, telling you how much they missed you, some were surprised you came and some ignored you.
You smiled at all and took one of the only seats avaliable, the one in front of Josuke and Okuyasu. The latter greeted you, making a small talk, asking how you were and how was your life while the first just sat and stared at you. Even if he wanted, he couldn't find the words. It's like his brain emptied.
"Come on, Josuke, say something!" Okuaysu pushed his shoulder and he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding when your eyes met his. His palms were sweating and his heart rate sped up even more.
"I..."
"Is everything alright, Josuke? You seem unwell." you said and he swallowed his own saliva. His name rolled off so prettily of your tounge and your voice remained the same as he remembered.
"I....I'm a-alright. I'll go to the bathroom." he said in a hurry and almost instantly got up, dragging Okuyasu after him.
"What was that?! Come on, Josuke, you've been waiting for this moment for years! It's time you make a move or else you will lose them! You heart them, they are single! It's your chance!" Okuyasu said, watching his bestfriend pacing around the bathroom.
"I...I can't speak! I can't do anything around them! It's like i'm paralyzed, bro!" he said and the other man laughed.
"You are redder than a tomato, come on now, Josuke. You've always been someone that can talk with the one he likes."
"It's not the same with them. I can't even breathe properly! I've always been like that around them!" Josuke sighed and his mate laughed.
"Come on, charmer, you can do it!"

Could we get head canons for The Duwang Gang with a s/o who’s a innocent barista
Thus the barista saga continues...
Josuke:
- Honestly he’d be, more or less, worried. He is aware that he can be overly anxious sometimes, but it’s just that he knows how risky the barista job can due to drunk/shady assholes coming in and all of that. The fact that s/o is rather shy and innocent only makes him worry that he can’t properly protect them even more.
- But Josuke knows how to respect boundaries and is aware that his s/o is fully capable of handling themselves. The least he’d do is remind them to always call him if they notice anything shady going on while they’re working and reassure them that he’ll always be there for them no matter what.
- Therefore, he’ll work very hard and put his anxieties aside for as long as he can. However, if there would ever be an instance where s/o calls him and tells him that someone picked on them, the boi will go absolutely ham. He’ll arrive at the bar in less than 10 minutes and absolutely throw fists with the culprit. He ain’t playin’.
Okuaysu:
- Similar to Josuke. He’ll lowkey worry sometimes that s/o is simply way too good for a job like this and he’d hate if anything would ever happen. His main fear is that he won’t be there to protect his partner, like in general.
- On another note, he absolutely loves paying them surprise visits whilst they’re working. Every so often Oku would just randomly drop by to greet s/o and he’ll be absolutely flustered each time they prepare a special drink for him and tell him that it’s on the house. Oku being Oku, he’d INSIST that he pays but s/o would reassure him that it’s all good, making the boi flush even more than before.
- All in all, a very loving and supporting boi that is always going to look out for his dear partner no matter what. Whenever he’d drop by their workplace he’d also be keeping an eye out for shady pricks in the process, and if he does spot one he’ll make sure they won’t get remotely close to s/o. Just like his best friend, Okuaysu AIN’T playin and he can and will throw fists if the situation calls for it.
Koichi:
- Probably the one that doesn’t worry THAT much compared to the rest of his gang. He fully trusts s/o and knows that they have plenty of experience with their job and he’s a pretty positive person, therefore Koichi wouldn’t think anything bad would happen. Like ever.
- He finds s/o’s “innocent” nature to be quite cute tbh. At this point he’s only glad that his s/o can be just as shy and awkward than him sometimes since it makes him feel less anxious about it. Furthermore, Koichi is going to be inclined to open up to them much sooner compared to other people because he knows they’ll completely understand him and his anxieties.
- One of his favorite pastimes is, of course, dropping by the bar where s/o works and just hanging around for a while. He’ll be extremely touched if s/o decides to prepare something for him and him only, and just like his friends he’d always insist that he pays for it nonetheless. And don’t think for a second that he won’t go f e r a l if he’d ever catch any shady dude trying to hit on s/o. He may be nice but he has his limits yknow.
Bonus - 4taro:
- If you thought the rest were worrying too much, get ready to see Jotaro. This man is pretty much anxiety central. Yes, he is aware that s/o is independent and that they can flawlessly take care of themselves, but that still doesn’t stop him from lowkey worrying whenever they work late hours at the bar.
- On a brighter note, this man is an absolute sucker for the small things when it comes to relationships. Therefore, little meaningful gifts mean everything to him, which is why his face would be redder than a beetroot whenever s/o would randomly surprise him with all kinds of handmade cocktails. He may not be good with words but he sure as hell will constantly praise s/o’s meticulous work.
- He is already inclined by nature to protect and care for his close ones, so seeing how his s/o would never hurt a fly would make the man E V E N more determined to keep them out of harm’s way. If he couldn’t physically be there for them at the moment, he’ll often be calling s/o just to check up on them and make sure that nobody is giving them a hard time at the bar. It’s the least he can do really.

You watch the two boys and you know that they have feelings for each other. How can they be so oblivious?
The way that Josuke stares at Okuyasu during class, or how Okuyasu goes looking for Josuke right away during any down time they have is a dead giveaway to you.
But you’re oblivious to what it means when they ask you to join them, too. It’s innocent enough, right?
Despite knowing that they’re in love with each other, it’s hard for you to deny that you have feelings for both of them.
Josuke is so sweet, caring, and kind for everybody around him.
Okuyasu is so nice to everyone and he tells the best jokes ever.
The thought never even once crosses your mind that they would want you to be a part of their relationship. You just kind of...sideline yourself.
To Okuyasu, he thinks that you’ve only got feelings for Josuke. I mean...you’re always staring at him during class and never paying attention.
To Josuke, it’s undeniable that you light up the most when you’re around Okuyasu. So you couldn’t have the same feelings for him that he does for you...right?
Both of them seem to go to you for advice about what to do with their feelings. They keep names anonymous, but you know. For the most part.
You’re confused about who this “other person” could be that they like. But it does give you at least a little glimmer of hope.
When feelings do eventually get confessed, it’s a little bit messy and a little bit confusing. But it’s all done in earnest.
You at first just focus on Okuaysu and Josuke being together and kind of miss the whole point that they love you, too. And they want you to be a part of their relationship, too.
That moment of realization hits and you fall silent. And oh no. Then they’re thinking that of course you wouldn’t want to be in a poly relationship. You wouldn’t be getting in the way, they promise-,
But then you start crying tears of joy and nodding your head and hugging them both and it’s kind of the best thing in the world.

Good at Something (Okuyasu x reader) gender-neutral
My first time writing him. But seriously, there should be more Okuyasu x readers!
Okuyasu by his own admission knew he wasn’t very smart. High school, didn’t give him any confidence. In math, the numbers juggled around his head, and he couldn’t fathom how things went together. In english, there were just too many words altogether. Science had a lot of rules. Sure he had Josuke and Koichi to help him. But, he really wanted to just be good at something. Anything.
The weekend had finally arrived had Okuyasu was moping as he walked home alone. Josuke had asked if he wanted to walk together, but he was honestly so bummed out from having to get help from another one of his classmates and being told,
“Geez Okuyasu, how are you bad at this? It’s easy!” for the millionth time, he didn’t want to bring down the mood. He sighed head held low. A familiar voice called out from behind him,
“Okuyasu!” turning around, you were running full speed to meet him. You were in plenty of his classes. And he talked to you seeing as everyone else was either scared or didn’t like him. He considered you a friend… And maybe he had the smallest bit of a crush,
“Hey…” you huffed as he stopped walking,
“J-just give me a second. Man do I suck at gym.” you wheezed. Okuyasu hummed, in response. Quizzically you looked up to his sad frown. Standing up you hesitated to put a hand on his shoulder,
“Okuyasu? Are you okay?” He shrugged as he continued walking,
“Mm… Not really… It’s nothin’ though.” You kept up beside him and shook your head,
“Well, it has to be something. I was wondering why you weren’t with Josuke and Koichi. What’s bothering you?” Okuyasu averted his eyes. He almost felt embarrassed to tell you,
“Promise you won’t tell Josuke… And don’t laugh at me!” you nodded,
“I promise Okuyasu.” He sighed fiddling with the pins on his collar before muttering,
“I-I just wish I was good at something. L-Like, Josuke’s really good at Math. Koichi is great at Science. Yukako’s awesome at english...And me? I’m not good at anything…” Okuyasu idly kicked at the pebbles along the ground. Your hand gently brushed his shoulder,
“Oku… You’re great at a lot of stuff! Don’t sell yourself short, not everyone is good at everything.” Okuyasu sighed,
“Even you’re better at a lot more things than I am.” As you and Okuyasu got to the the front of his house he shrugged,
“Thanks for trying, but-” you huffed going in front of Okuyasu,
“No! I refuse to believe it Okuyasu! Let me stay over and we’ll really see!” Okuaysu shrunk into his shoulders as you opened his gate and headed towards his front door. He didn’t really feel like complaining, and there was a part of him that didn’t want to be alone.
Inside his Dad happily welcomed you in with a grunt,
“Hello Mr. Nijimura! I don’t suppose it would be a problem if I stayed for a bit right?” Okuyasu watched his Dad shake his head and guide you to the couch. Okuyasu had been slowly fixing up the house. Buying furniture among other things,
“Uh- I have to make dinner for Dad and me… and you now I guess. Did ya wanna help?” He still felt miserable but seeing you so happy started to lift his spirits. He actually laughed seeing your eyes go wide,
“Yes, I’d love to!”
Cooking dinner went relatively fast, and was surprisingly fun. As the three of you sat down for dinner Okuyasu glanced over to you as you took your first bite. He saw himself in you as you bounced happily in your seat,
“Oku! This is delicious! Do you make your own lunches too?” Okuyasu smiled nervously, a blush creeping over his cheeks,
“U-uh… No. Thanks for the compliment though.” After dinner Okuyasu watched his dad head upstairs. Meanwhile you had begun to pull out paper and pencils. Okuyasu sighed sitting down beside you,
“So are you going to prove I’m good at stuff?” You smiled shrugging,
“Don’t know. Do you have any ideas Oku?” He grumbled,
“Aw, I’m no good at thinking. Why would you leave the planning to me?” You smiled grabbing one of his hands,
“Because I know you’re good at it! Josuke isn’t good at everything.” Oku blushed more,
“I- you… Why do you…” Okuyasu sniffed and wiped at his eyes,
“Why are you so nice to me? Everyone else thinks I’m stupid or scary.” You froze before cupping his face and hugging his neck,
“Because if you won’t even believe in yourself, someone has to. I care about you Okuyasu.” Okuyasu whimpered as he hugged back. As the two of you sat there in silence with just Okuyasu’s sniffles. You backed away with a small blush,
“I actually did find something you’re good at,” Okuyasu cocked his head to the side as you continued, “it’s uh… Cooking.” Okuyasu smiled with tears,
“Really? I didn’t think it was that good…”
“It was!” Okuyasu laughed to himself before leaning in and pressing a shy kiss to your cheek,
“Thank you.” You blushed and covered your face as Okuyasu stuttered,
“S-Sorry! I um-!” You lurched forward hugging him and actually knocking the two of you over,
“And you’re very good at making me blush Oku!”
“Does this mean you…?” As you nodded your face buried in his chest Okuyasu chuckled cuddling closer to you. It seemed that his wish had been granted. Apparently he was good at something, and he was looking forward to having you remind him.

These boys are maximum accidental school crushing. Like, the kind where it can be summed up by those “Bromance” posts. It’s okay to put your minecraft bed next to mine, bro, we don’t gotta cuddle.....unless you know....you wanna cuddle.
Okuaysu will lovingly suplex Koichi into a big pile of blankets for some quality after school de-stress. Sometimes a date can be 10 hours of mario kart and then passing out while leaning on each other.
