Give me back my glitter, Monomi! - (TW: Relationships/SelfH??) Hello again, could I speak with Kokichi, Hajime, and Nagito if possible. Uh I just,, had a breakup happen and it's hitting really hard right now I loved this person a lot and i'm having trouble coping. I'm having trouble being alone and can't even be off call with friends without my brain going in a loop. I haven't been eating/drinking properly either due to being nervous/heart broken and unmotivated. I also keep having nightmares.

I-I really do hate to hear about this. Break-ups are... heh, no matter what movies or any form of media show, they’re never as easy to deal with as they make them out to be. They’re always a slap to the face, no matter what, with some slapping harder than others. I truly am sorry, but I know you want to hear more than just that, so I’ll do my best to give you what you really need to hear instead.

Mind if I give you some advice? I may be some average Reserve Course student, but I still have some to give out. I can understand you having trouble with staying alone without having your mind beginning to spiral. As such, whenever you’re not talking to someone, I would suggest trying to do something that’s relaxing, but also something that’ll occupy your mind. A few things that come to mind are reading, listening to music, watching a TV show or movie, or even cleaning. Okay, that last one sounds boring, I know, b-but listening to music while cleaning makes it all better, so don’t take it off the table just yet!

Anyway, moving on. In terms of not drinking or eating properly, th-that’s worrying, so we should definitely focus on that and fix that, too. I know someone who keeps a bottle of water and a snack bag right at their bedside for when they’re too unmotivated or depressed, so maybe give that a shot? That way, if you feel as though you can’t even get out of bed, you can simply reach over and grab your water bottle or snack bag. It doesn’t have to be a super healthy snack, but it should be something decent, like Goldfish cracker or something, y’know? It would be a step in the right direction, at least.

And as for nightmares, reading or doing something relaxing like that before going to sleep might help you, well, relax. But it might also help influence your dreams, even if only by a little bit. But hey, try listening to calm music or background noise, like those ten-hour videos that just consists of rain sounds or forest sounds. Of course, it doesn’t work for everyone, but it’s worth a shot!

Still, all of this sounds so despairful; I can’t imagine how it must feel to have to currently deal with this much despair. Still, no matter the kind or severity or amount or anything, you can and will beat this despair. I have hope in you, and I have hope that in due time, you’ll get through this and win this battle against despair. There’s going to be all kinds of downs, and you might hit a roadblock or two, but by the end of the day, you’ll get through this. I just know it! I’ll cut through your despair and show you the truth of this case, no matter what it takes!

I-I know you didn’t ask for one, but if you want a hug, I-I can give you one. U-Unless you don’t want one or anything, th-then fine, I won’t give you one! But if you do want one, th-then get over here, so that way I can just go ahead and give you one. I-I hope you continue to not give in to this despair, and please do your best to take care of yourself, o-okay?

Yay! Corgi you're back! I mean, not yay because you're going through some not fun stuff right now, but like I'm happy to see you again if that makes you feel better? Yeah, I really don't know what I'm doing on an ask blog. Aaaaanyways, ok, I'm guessing this is a continuation of the last ask you sent in, and oh god, I'm really sorry. Again, I can't make jokes about that, because break ups just really really suck, and like I don't think I can say anything that'll make you feel better, but I'll try my best ok? Full disclosure, you're not obligated to be ok any time soon. This is like, a really emotional thing, and you don't have to hurry up and get better, it's ok if you're less than ok for a while. Yeah, it's gonna hit hard for a bit, and I think that's just life. Yikes did that come out harsh? I meant to say that you might have to feel the emotion a little bit. From what I've seen, the thing that'll help you feel better the most is time. It doesn't feel like it right now, but every day it'll hurt just a little bit less, and that'll continue until the pain is gone.

I would try to be around people as much as possible when you can if that helps you, but when you're more alone, I'd play loud music, or like a tv show in the background just to fill the void with human voices or something. You could hang out in the same room as your family, or grab a pet to vibe with you if you have one.

Yeah, I think the last part is the biggest concern as of now. Eating and drinking are like, kind of required to stay alive, so in my humble opinion, I think that's something to focus on so we can get that back on track. The first thought I have is that you should set a timer and try to eat at the same time every day. This way you can kinda train your body to be used to eating at those times, so you can make sure you actually eat. Like, I'm sure you feel like doing anything other than eating, but you gotta make sure you get some sustenance ok? As for the nightmares, I think those will fade with time too. A lot of this aside from the eating thing is playing the waiting game, and that totally sucks. The only other suggestion I have for you is that you should spend time distracting yourself or doing comfort activities to get you through the days until you're at a place where you can face the emotions and start moving on. I know, easier said than done, but you can do it. Take it slow ok? It's gonna hurt, but you're gonna heal. I promise.

Not to sound rude.... but I feel as if I’m the only one here whose actually been in a relationship! Even though if it wasn’t meant to be, hehe. Sadly Anon, I know this feeling all too well. The Desparing feeling of loneliness, as if you’ll never find another like them... hehe. Sorry to get so gloomy. It’s just... break ups are so full of Despair, it makes me feel ill. I’ve had my heartbroken once... never again... unless, well; if my luck comes into play somehow.

Anon if I may. I know that feeling all to well of feeling lonely once after going through something like this. I’d recommend feeling that little void with entertainment. Perhaps video games, books, drawing. Whatever helps you relax and feel happy. Hanging out with your friends is also good as well, however you’re going to have to get used to that lonely feeling; it sounds terrible, but you don’t want to grow too dependent on having your friends around to fill this void.

You must eat as well. Food can help lift your mood a lot. Feeling unmotivated may also be tied into your eating habit. Try eating anything at least, even if it’s something small. You can’t heal if you aren’t taking care of yourself... I want to see you happy and healthy Anon. Taking care of yourself is the first step of getting better and through this Despairing experience.

awe, sorry to hear that, nonnie ! and sorry for replying to this one so late too, hope 2020 brings you a lotta joy and happiness !

Xemnas :

A part of him can relate to that feeling, even if he doesn’t understand exactly why or how. Nonetheless, Xemnas would simply listen to every word you had to get out of your chest - but if none come out, he’ll gladly stay by your side in absolute comforting silence. Sometimes, peace and quiet to calm the mind can do more than endless words of encouragement. And he’d be too awkward to just go and give you a hug, so the only thing he can do is offer you his company, along with time and a safe space to get your thoughts and feelings in order.

Xigbar :

One would expect Xigbar to take you to some whacky adventures so you can distract yourself from those negative thoughts and feelings - but he’s also dealt with his fair share of loss and he’s found that facing the facts and coming to terms with them helps more than idle and mindless fun. Of course, it takes time to gather the courage and stability to do so - but if you ever need a reality check and some down to earth advice for something this serious, Xigbar’s your guy. Honor the past and cherish the good memories, but dont dwell so much on them. Don’t let them hold you back !

Xaldin :

Hands down, Xaldin s u c k s at comforting people, specially as a Nobody and his complex relationship with f e e l i n g s. What is he supposed to say in these situations ? Hell, even giving you a pat on the back is hard for him. Like, is it okay for him to do so ? What if you start crying ? ? Because of this, he can only say he’s a good listener, maybe give you some general words of advice here and there. However, he wouldn’t be against cooking something for you - a nice warm meal followed by a good rest is usually what he does whenever he has a bad day. You’re even welcome to steal from the cookie jar and brag about it to Demyx and Axel.

Vexen :

As a scientist, it’s very easy for Vexen to detach himself from emotional situations and come up with a straightforward and cold reply to your loss. It’s the way he deals with things that require a heart, after all. Brain = good. Heart = confusing. Easy peasy. Of course, when he realizes that this method clearly doesn’t work and that you’re about to smack him, Vexen would feel a b i t guilty and offer to help in a different way. It’s very easy to let yourself go after losing someone and accidentally adapt some unhealthy habits - this is where he comes in, helping you make a schedule so you don’t end up oversleeping, skipping meals or avoid being active.

Lexaeus :

Lexaeus is also a silent listener, it’s just kinda how he rolls. But unlike Xaldin who struggles with it, Lexaeus is good at comforting others without the need of words. Definitely one of the very few people in the organization that would hug and hold you for as long as you need, not caring if you stain his coat with tears. His aura and willingness to protect others can make anyone feel safe with him, so you’re in good hands. Lexaeus would even give you one of his little puzzle toys, in case he can’t be around. They might be small, but they sure help a lot to distract you for a while and remember that he’s got your back.

Zexion :

Zexion might be emotionally constipated due to his status as a Nobody, but he’s no stranger to the negative emotions of the human psyche. If you reach out to him, he’d be willing to help - but you gotta keep in mind that he’s still a kid at heart and hasn’t found the proper way to cope and deal with his own feelings. Still, Zexion makes up for his lack of knowledge when it comes to comforting with his extense collection of books ! He’d recommend you things to read, both literature you two could discuss as a past time and articles about dealing with loss and grief. He’d also make use of his powers to create illusions you might enjoy if you’ve had a particulary rough day.

Saix :

Saix doesn’t comfort, at least not so openly like other members. His approach is pretty much the aftermath of Vexen’s idea to give you a schedule - so long story short, Saix is the one who’d enforce and make sure you follow it. Which means he’s gonna be on your ass most of the time and as annoying as that might sound (Demyx feels so bad for you because of this) if you squint really really hard, you’ll notice that he does care about your wellbeing. “You have to keep on moving” he’d say, while sending you into your 6th mission of the day, which simply consists on taking care of a few heartless and some general recon. You’ll also find that most of your reports have been already filled out, but hey, don’t ask him.

Axel :

Another awkward guy - Axel has trouble comforting friends, but damn if he’s not going to try. The way he speaks is more than enough to cheer you up, or at the very least give you back that passion you had prior your loss, it’s like he sparks a fire in you ! You just gotta go all out, ride all of this out and. Cry, scream, feel everything you gotta feel and then kick back with people you can trust, eat some ice cream with them. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and held. Axel would totally invite you to join him, Xion and Roxas to their whacky adventures around Twilight Town.

Demyx :

Very obvious, but Demyx would encourage you write a song about it. It’s what he does to sort his feelings out, figure out what feels right in the end. And besides, learning how to play an instrument is always fun - you also got the best (and only) music teacher in the organization ! If that’s not your cup of tea, then you can try any other artistic outlet. Dancing, writing, etc etc. Demyx is fully aware that fortnite dancing at 3 am is not going to fix his problems, but it sure helps him stay grounded and remember that life is not as serious as we make it out to be.

Luxord :

Luxord is very polite, so he won’t pry into your business - but the second he notices little changes in you like that permanent tired expression or the way you sigh a little too much on a daily basis, he’d invite you over for tea, subtly give you an excuse to talk to him and vent should you need it without being too invasive or forward. If you still can’t or refuse to open up, Luxord would take you for a walk around Wonderland or another colorful and fun world, giving you some advice in the form of his cryptid ramblings. When a door closes, another opens - and if there aren’t any, then you just have to open a window, get some fresh air and a new perspective.

Marluxia :

Marluxia can also relate to that. Surprisingly, he’d be very gentle, asking if you’d like to share some happy memories you have with that someone. Maybe even set up a small makeshift “shrine” in their honour, of course covered with their favorite flowers. He’s just happy to help you, listening to you reminisce and remember them with a smile on your face. It’s very shocking to see this side of him, given how flamboyant and eccentric he can be - but those passing encouraging smiles Marluxia gives you whenever he sees you are a great comfort.

Larxene :

Larxene is… Not the best choice if you want to be comforted. Her method is an extreme version of Xigbar’s, she’ll simply offer a quick “deal with it” and a hard “grow up and accept it”. While she might be impulsive and very emotional Larxene is actually a very logical person with a good understanding of her own feelings. What you can learn from her is that everyone needs to ultimately find their own way of coping and dealing with grief, no one else can tell you how or when to feel a certain way no matter how good their intentions might be. Take the good advice, but don’t depend on others for everything. Your way might be unconventional, but as long as it’s not hamrful for yourself and you’re aware of your limits, it’s good enough.

Roxas :

Roxas doesn’t know what to do, at all. So he’d simply ask about what YOU want to do now. How would you like to deal with these feelings and such. He’ll be there right next to you, even if you just wanna cry and sleep it off or if you want to distract yourself and never speak about it. Roxas is there, holding your hand all the way and making sure you know you’re not alone. Like Marluxia, he might also ask about the person you lost, just out of curiosity. And then maybe internally facepalm because oh shit, what if you don’t want to talk about it. The way Roxas worries about you, stuttering apologies and awkwardly explaining that he simply wants to make you feel better is so endearing that you can’t help but feel safe and sound.

Xion :

Xion would simply take you to Destiny Islands, to watch the waves, feel the sand and the sun on your skin. She wouldn’t ask at all, instead explaining that this is the place she goes to whenever she’s feeling confused, lost or just a little under the weather - and now, she wants to share this with you. You don’t have to say a thing, Xion doesn’t need to know your pain to realize that you just need a friend and a shoulder to cry on. Someone to rely on. The two of you would just spend the afternoon picking up seashells, exploring the island and relaxing. She’ll gladly listen if you have anything to say, but it’s okay, you’ve done enough. Let her take care of you now.

He gets v excited and Meg and he can special-interest back and forth for hours One person is pitcher, pouring information into empty pitcher2, then the other takes a turn and pours back into first pitcher. Quentin’s got a big sense of justice. Not okay with people getting away with terrible shit, which makes the realms extra unbearable (somewhere in the distance Yui and Tapp are like ‘cheers mate’). Holds people very accountable. Boy is very fair and got upstanding character. Expects people to operate with like bare minimum decency and ain’t about to let that shit go if someone wants to be a bastard. Last person ever to let a killer get a pass for going around murdering people in-realm and would hold them extremely accountable and be v willing to kill one in a fight and view them with disgust and righteous anger, but also be one of the first people willing to forgive a killer if they genuinely reformed, or got thrown to the survivor side by the Entity and actually chose to shape up and proved they meant it. He has a huge sense of justice and righteous anger, but also believes in forgiveness and second chances. (Within reason. If any of the particularly bastard killers like GF or Nightmare or Clown showed up with a completely ooc change of heart they will never have anyway, Quentin would be like “…listen. …There are some things only God can forgive…U gotta take this one to him…and away from me. Forever…”. Boy got those high-quality standards 👌

Used to be kinda high-strung, but then his life was a living hell for so long that he ran out of energy entirely and now he has no choice but to be mostly chill. If he gets a burst of energy, the old excitement power switch flips back on and he is both way more talkative and active, and happier. Unfortunately he is usually so worn out he’s about to drop.

Got a bit of a martyr complex. The fact that literally locking himself in hell with his worst nightmare worked does not help. Feels massive guilt over the fact that the Nightmare is in the realm bc of him, but is still kind of glad bc it means he’s not out there murdering his family. Hates that he feels that way because he thinks it’s kind of wrong. Views being stuck in the realm as sort of penance for having brought Krueger unintentionally. Afraid to tell other people it’s his fault because he’s scared they would never talk to him again, and the idea of losing his friends and complete isolation here is unbearable. Feels guilt over that choice, because he feels like he’s in a way lying to them, and that if they would hate him if they knew the truth, they have a right to. Boy loves his friends hard, but does not trust them to forgive him, or to trust in him, so he’s not always completely honest about not just that but anything he’s struggling with. Very sad dumbass. Suffers alone because he’s afraid to ask for help, and/or does not think he deserves it.

Really loves the other survivors and would do anything he could to protect them. Dies in the majority of his trials because he battles endlessly trying to keep the others from being the ones who die. In a way, he’s trying to make things up to them, but he would absolutely do the same just because he loves them, and did for a long time before he ever figured out Krueger and him being taken was his fault (not that I personally think that’s a fair way for the boy to view it). Optimistic externally, struggling internally. Absolutely refuses, ever, to give up, but is always right on the threshold of having a breakdown. Pushes the others to find a way to escape and tries to give them hope. Takes a lot of shit. Will not fight back much if teased just be like -__- and moves on. Doesn’t let people boss him around though, and will always do what he thinks personally is the right thing. Extremely forgiving. (Except to himself.) Snark boy if opportunity presents itself. Can I offer you a shot of adrenaline in this trying time boy? the rest of the time.

Gives people the benefit of the doubt. Not a hoe. Would commit to a s/o very dedicatedly. Also not the kind of asshole who would cut down on time w friends when in a relationship. Boy’s love is not a zero sum game. Would die or kill for Laurie. Loves Claudette and learning botany tips from her. Thinks she is pretty and admires her kindness and skill and refusal to let the world change who she is, and wishes he was more like her. Has not told her that. Is a lot more like her in that regard than he thinks he is. Pretty damn good in a fight bc he always gets back up. Determinator. Still in love with Nancy and loyal af. Misses her a lot. Does not open up about himself as much as people think he does. Misses his dad and Nancy and his dead friends a lot, especially Jesse. Doesn’t actually talk about his problems much. Just suffers in silence because he doesn’t think he can ask for help.

Takes his faith seriously. Prays a lot, and struggles with feeling completely abandoned by God, but won’t give up on that either. Tries hard to believe he cares and things will change. Dedicated to trying to make sure that regardless of what his friends believe in, they are okay. Very sad and alone but tries to not think about that. Tries to help friends stay hopeful. Is both baby and badass sass boy in one package. Fight hard, love hard, someday will get to sleep for a whole year.

If you are nice to him once, will assume that means you are friends now. Genuinely cares deeply for every single survivor at the campfire. Wants to protect people. Constantly suffering bc that’s impossible here. Really just wants everyone to be okay someday, including himself, and simultaneously kind of feels like he no longer deserves to be okay in the end at all. Tries not to think about that. Massive guilt issues. Bottles it up. Loyal as hell. Would die for his friends so much it actively worries them and they’re like “Quentin…please. Quentin-stop—stop. You’ll die again. I swear to god Quentin! I can die this time! Quentin!!! Come back here right now!” But he never comes back. Big sibling energy. Regularly people be like “Damn u could make a pretty fine lil brother out of this” and then they do. He loves so hard. Please be nice to him. He’s always trying so hard and never thinks it’s enough. He works so hard.

Triggers include being grabbed by his hair and jerked around, losing his necklace, the cave, and the Nightmare within 15 feet of someone he loves, so homeboy has just, a lot of bad days. Is playing a fun game called ‘I will absorb trauma forever and not get help for it and then one day it will kill me’. Needs to learn to depend on his friends.

Good sense of humor, enjoys reading and music. Will talk way too much about things he likes and not notice he’s done it and then feel bad. Dumbass sweetheart, will think he’s doing a great job flirting and be proud of himself when he did not, in fact, do a suave job, but it’s cute. Tries hard. All the time. At everything. God he tries.

I would do killer hcs too but this already so long and I cut like half of what I initially wrote rip. I have too many thoughts. Head full. : ( Here’s just a few little ones:

Myers does not like working for the Entity. It tried to pull a fast one and be like, “Yes tis I, another voice in your head,” and Michael was like “Bitch it’s my head. I don’t know you!” and that did not work. While Michael very much would love to kill Laurie and get inner peace, working for the entity provides 0% daily Michael needs, and he hates it. Sometimes he just does what the fuck he wants and gets in trouble (homeslice is the only killer who can kill survivors with no mori and no perk for it. Michael cannot be controlled). Does not like being here at all. He doesn’t cause the Entity a lot of trouble like Krueger does, so it doesn’t consider him a problem killer, but they do not have a ‘Ah yes my favorite killer’ kind of thing going. Michael hates the spider-monster. He is so tired of everything at this point. Boy is suffering. Would fight the Entity if he knew how. Has been hurt by it before, and does not like that, because it takes longer to heal than he is used to.

Myers has a few times had his home area be close enough to the campfire that he could see it in the distance, and he watches them when that happens. For hours. He is lonely, but does not realize that, and probably never will. He does stand there and watch them, being sad and not realizing he’s sad at all. It’s the closest he ever gets to human interaction aside from killing people in trials.

The Entity hurts Max sometimes, not because he has done anything wrong, but because injuring him without providing even a way to prevent it keeps him peak feral and afraid, just like it wants. No time to recover or learn or grow. Just anger and pain and fear.

The Entity promises Rin a lot of things. Not because it has to, but because it enjoys the taste of her suffering. One of her addons is paper cranes, one of 1000 to make a wish, as the description says. I’ve always interpreted that to mean it likes to screw with her and offer her things like that she can do between trials, in the moments of lucidity she occasionally has when completely alone. ‘Make 1000, get your wish,’ but every time she hits 999, it blows the ones she’s made away, and she has to start over. Unclimbable hill. Just to watch her struggle. That kind of thing. Intentionally tends to send survivors her way it knows she would dislike killing the most, just to watch her have to do it against her will and bask in the horror of what she cannot make herself not do.

“hi, so since quarantine has led to a lot of self-reflection and a lot more being dropped by fake friends, i've taken a lot of time to sort of figure myself out and re-invent myself as the kind of person i want to be and not what anyone else wants. to celebrate i decided to come to my fave mods, specifically for a bnha student matchup~ i am bisexual, so let's go girls and boys!

personality: i'm an INTP-T, the oldest of three, and a libra. i'm slightly more omniverted, meaning i can be more introverted or extraverted depending, but i lean towards introversion. i keep my friend groups small but i'm on pretty good terms with almost everyone i know. i'm a bit of a tsundere to them though, and i'll never admit how much they mean to me. it just feels weak, ya know? conversation flows easily for me, and i can keep up chat about a pebble if i wanted to. people tend to tell me i'm mature. i'm really competitive and i'll never back down from a challenge. i'm headstrong and confident for the most part, but i feel things pretty deeply and get quite hurt/sad sometimes. i've struggled with a lot of different issues that i'm still working to overcome, but i don't ever like feeling like i'm relying on anyone or putting my burdens on them. i'm very scared of losing people. i have a kinda dark and really sarcastic sense of humor and almost everything i say sounds sarcastic or dead, but that's really just my tone of voice. i find it really hard to try at the things i don't care about, but i pride myself on my determination, creativity, and passion when it comes to the things i like though. i can be pretty bad with new people, and i can't stay interested in anything for very long. my biggest flaws are my hotheadedness, my temper, and my unwillingness to do anything that i don't want to do. i'm also a pretty bad procrastinator and i have a hard time communicating with people who i don't like. i can't sit still to save my life, and i can't focus in class if i'm asked to be still. no clue why, though. i also get distracted easily, so my grades in boring classes aren't exactly the best. i'm pretty good at making friends though! once i decide i like someone there's no stopping me, and i'm very loyal and protective. i am not afraid to cut a bish!

appearance: i'm short and spicy baby! kidding. i'm 5'3 with a bad case of rbf. i've got a more hourglass build and i'm kinda skinny? i have short straight hazel hair {think sokka, but longer}, and the front strands are dyed. my eyes are the same color, and i have monolids that i hate. i have lots of freckles, but only on my arms, back, and legs. i have a dimple on one side because i smile with a smirk. i wear lots of black and greys, but lately i've also been liking reds and teal. i like to dress with ripped jeans or cargoes with stompy shoes or converse, and crop tops or hoodies.

What are some of your favorite bands? Maybe a good 10 or 15 if you need a number, or maybe some song recommendations? I need some stuff to get into and my taste's been pretty flat for a while and I'm looking for some better stuff! Thank you!!

OKAY AWESOME- I will not rank them bc my brain doesn’t do that. I jump every like 15 mins on what my favorite is SO HERES A NICE LIST OF BANDS WITH SOME SONGS!!! Links as well to youtube/SC bc I love u and want to make it easier afdsgfd I’m listing bands that are “easier” to listen to ig because I don’t know your entire taste. I will, however, pull you into my side of screaming through conditioning and have listed a few to see if you’re chill with it. Bolded is the TLDR version with links if you need it and I speak way too much!

1. The Faint Endless, while currently only on soundcloud, they are coming to spotify soon!! My favorite song of theirs is Celestial Revenge, which happens to have a music video!! I also like We Were Once Invincible and Requiem but G*D I LOVE ALL OF THEM They are… such a fucking inspiration to me and the music I want to make in the future. I try to make everyone listen to them so tbh if you wanna know me listen to them they fuck

2. I am going to assume if you follow me you listen to My Chemical Romance, BUT if you don’t here’s some song recs that have different feels they will give you: House of Wolves, Vampire Money, You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison, Demolition Lovers, and Boy Divison but this list could go on for hours…. There’s so much to list and I couldn’t stop…..It’s for you to find and for you to feel.

3. The Used is super high up on my list! Shame they’re not as popular on here like MCR, like y’all missed 2004 (me too I wasn’t even split then but shhhhhhhhhh i know my history). Really depends on the mood you’re in because they’re either bangers or Sucidical Moments tbh so fair warning. Really got into them when life was super shitty, but they have a lot that aren’t always imma kms. If you’re up for loud shit there is The Back of Your Mouth which I’ve been blasting for a week. Choke Me is good if you wanna hear someone scream “fuck my ass” over and over while you feel dead inside lmao. If you want something more themed for this blog there’s Wake The Dead, although I feel like the mid part ruins it tbh. I want to cover it so I can make it go hard the entire time. I’d recommend the full album Lies For The Liers to get started.

4. If you like Vocaloid and want it in English and like horror then check out GHOST, or Ghost and Pals on spotify. Some of my favorites are Those Who Carried On, Honey I’m Home, and Entomologists, but there’s so much more that is amazingly themed.

5. Red Vox is also really good, but I’d recommend staying away from their album Vomit in the Ballpit because it’s just gross-out humor and I’m not into that. For my oc Franklin I think his voice would sound like Vin’s. They’re releasing a new album soon which I’m excited for, and they released one song early which is Why Can’t This Be Easy. Other songs I really enjoy are: Kerosene (I recommend the album of that same name too def one I use to calm down some nights), Memories Lie, Hazy, and Stranded (if you’re down for a 9 min space themed/star trek downer). I really enjoy their music and it’s another inspiration to me even if the music is a lot more chill. Their music has really calmed me down some nights and I’m thankful.

6. Will Wood and the Tapeworms is good if you just wanna go “oh my god I’m so mentally ill. I am going to break something. Fuck, I can’t remember 2012” Maybe that’s just me though- Anyways, Hand Me My Shovel, I’m Going In! is a banger and good for this blog, and the mv is a mess so its perfect, and absolutely what my mind looks like. Also Dr. Sunshine Is Dead is for this blog. Actually the entire album. Honestly, just listen to the entire album Self-Ish. It’s not great if you’re feeling bad bc its gunna have you screamin’ “I WANT MY MURDER TO LOOK LIKE A SUICIDE” but it’s so good, dude. I’m obsessed. You gotta listen to it in order to get the full effect. Highly recommended if you’re okay enough to do it.

7. Mother Mother, aka mentally ill central, babie. They are an experience. Vauagely horny, drugged up and craving death or something worse? It’s all there! Calm Me Down is blatantly horny, but a jam and an experience, which I recommend the entire album it came off of as a starting place. The Cry Forum is really good, but I always forget the ending has a poem in german. Back To Life is amazing too and I really vibe with it.

8. Bayside is another really good band and amazing and cheaper fuck you Ticketmaster to see live. Some dick groped me in the pit and a punk punched the shit out of him and protected me the rest of the night and made sure my short ass could still see. The girl I went with got a drum stick handed to her. They’re amazing. Feeling shitty, ex-relationship problems and some Christian guilt mixed in! I highly recommend their latest album, Interrobang. Numb and Prayers are good on that. I feel like I have to recommend Sick Sick Sick and Devotion and Desiresince I’m pretty sure it’s their biggest songs.

9. The Vincent Black Shadow! I don’t even know how I found them tbh. Stupid Intruders is something I blast a lot. Metro is relatable, unfortunately. The House of Tasteful Men is very 👌 I die. They need more recognition…..

10. Halestorm! Female led metalish rock is very good. Very Vent-y songs for me, but very good and sexy. I Miss The Misery is very popular for good reason/ You Call Me A Bitch Like It’s A Bad Thing, Freak Like Me and Killing Ourselves To Live are definitely my favorites. Also a big inspo to me as someone with a feminine voice/presenting that wants to sing!

athenas or the new ign videos... hmmm

im gonna go for the ign videos (moze gameplay and sanctuary-iii, no guns yet, i have a reason for that) because athenas hasn’t gotten its sweet instagram video yet. once that’s released i’ll do a full post on it. by the time i got around to finishing this post, they had released the video. oh boy... gonna do the gun post then the athenas post, i think. alright, off we go.

tl;dr: we read the entire end user agreement DAHL thrusts upon us for using the ECHO device, talk about some stuff like how (spoilers) it seems like Lilith will be getting her powers back at the end of the game, and a voice line Lily says that sounds like “Tyreen took my powers. it’s like Tannis said: [inaudible] Siren” (altho im not 100% sure on the [inaudible] part because 1) it sounds weird and 2) there’s a drum beat and also the devs are talking over her, the Siren part seems fairly accurate because of the way her mouth moves). so you know. im gonna be agonizing over that until i can hear what she says. ive already spent an hour just repeating it over and over. i nearly fell asleep lol

we’re gonna start with the moze gameplay (the first 14 minutes of bl3) because chronologically it’s first in both timeline and release date

also it looks like they added in claptrap’s old welcome sign from windshear waste! time to stand in front of it for 30 minutes to see if any messages pop up like bl2

Marcus saying “And Welcome to Pandora!” in the beginning confirms that, yes, they’re going to be on a bus!! i wonder if there will be a fight scene before that though. it’s interesting Clappy mentions that “those jerks who tried to murder you are the children of the vault!” so i mean... there’s gotta be... right?

im also convinced this intro is going to be a mirror of Borderlands 1. i stg if it starts out with the first few notes of Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked and then swaps songs I’m going to lose my mind

also also, the order is totally going to mimic the bl1 one. Fl4k = Mordecai, Amara = Lilith, Moze = Roland, Zane = Brick. We even have Lilith taking Angel’s spot as the mysterious voice in our heads, and probably Marcus driving, AND being dropped off at a bus stop.

bet the reason they changed it from ‘Moze as the Bot Jock’ to ‘Moze as the Gunner’ is because it fits under ‘Roland as the Soldier’ better. Also, ‘Zane Flynt as Himselfs’ would be a play off ‘Brick as Himself’. Amara as the Siren is obvious, and ‘Mordecai as the Hunter’ vs ‘Fl4k as the Beastmaster’ is pretty similar as well, given Fl4k has all those Hunter skills.

the 4 basic emotes im guessing. im so glad we have the option to boop our friends in the face with emotes.

i know i mentioned in this post that the Great Vault may be already opened, but it could also just be a Vault they’re planning on opening and using the propaganda to convince the cultists to help them find it.

“if you help us get this vault open, you’ll be handsomely rewarded! you’ll get superpowers! you’ll get regular meals! you’ll get money and guns and dates!” you know, the usual stuff.

either way, elevating the Vault to a higher state (god/heaven/whatever) makes sense if you’re running a cult.

btw there is a hidden chest in the scaffolding to the left of the door, if you’re interested in grabbing some better guns before shiv. personally, i’ll be using the toy guns.

lilith gives you a grenade mod for completing her mission! im really glad they are PUSHING through the tutorial/intro so you can get right into the game. bl2′s ‘intro’ of all these tutorials was brutal. especially waiting to unlock your action skill.

in 3 you get your action skill automatically at level 2!!! which is insane, i love it! they’re jumping right into it, it’s great. and they seem to be pushing for you to get all the stuff you need right away.

it’s curious to note that in bl3 we get our class mods at the end of the Promethea demo (after Gigamind), since in bl2 you get your first (usually?) after the hunting the firehawk mission and both seem to take place immediately after we get to the ‘base of operations’ of the game (Sanctuary vs Sanctuary-III).

yep that quest is 100% in line with the quest marker.

i imagine From the Ground Up may be discovering where the Vault Map/Key actually is? maybe bringing people to the Recruitment Center (notably Tannis)

for this scene. i hope this takes place after the HBC, because i seriously... can’t imagine the twins showing up, taking the Vault Map, bringing it to the HBC, and then NOT taking Lilith’s powers/trying to kill Lily and accidentally taking her powers. it just doesn’t make sense, Vault Hunters be damned, we are level 2 they could melt us easy peasy.

If anything, it feels like we COULD find the Vault Map in the Recruitment Center, Tannis tries to activate it/fix it, we find out it’s mega broke, and then the Sun Smashers show up and take it. but i seriously can’t imagine Lilith nor the new VHs allowing that to happen while they’re still there. maybe if Tannis sends us to do something while Lilith is gathering other CR members? then it could make sense if they attack while Tannis is alone with the Key...

we end up finding something in Shiv’s room that shows/helps us realize the Sun Smashers bringing the Vault Map to the Calypsos. tho this would mean the quest From the Ground Up is SUPER short and I imagine it’s not. Maybe we raid a camp of theirs like the one in front of Sanc-III with the bridge/ramp? We need to be about level 6 before we go and we start From the Ground Up at 2 so there’s obviously something DEEP we’re missing here. maybe this is a mission where we go gather the other Crimson Raiders? HMMMMMMMM...

i love the quest objective thing, it looks like we will be able to swap through our quests with the push of a button! also im curious why exactly we’re going to promethea right away. i wonder if the twins say something about moving there after getting the vault map/lilith’s powers, or if we hear from rhys. im expecting something about the vault map, since our vh will admit they don’t know rhys at all when talking to lorelei. but for some reason we need to be within the city limits? since lily says ellie got us within the city limits.

hmmmmmm. okay, okay, maybe the map was trying to lead us to promethea for vault reasons during that short amount of time that we had it and it was working. maybe promethea is what we see when tannis is activating the key during that one cutscene? ohhh shit how dope would it be if we got that fucking easter egg message? omg “Children of the Vault. Come to Promethea. We are not on Pandora anymore. Tannis is not what she seems. Do not open the Vaults.” and everyone is like ‘uh did that thing just mention Tannis by name??’ and now it’s REALLY important to get the map back just so we can figure out wtf it’s trying to tell us.

i will question how ‘Tannis is not what she seems’ would affect character relationships, especially if it’s said so early in the game. so perhaps we only hear the first part of the message. maybe it’s corrupted because it was recently broken. iunno. just playing around with ideas. the canon of this game is like flarp putty until sept. 13th

anyway moving on because this is literally the first f r a m e of the video

i like that you can see pandora’s eridian scar. if the destroyer is speaking through eridium to people, it’s gonna bust outta the side of this planet like you wouldn’t fucking believe lmao. eridium is a window to the soul and if you stare long enough into its glossy, shining sides, the destroyer stares back

that or it’s just like a beacon, slowly spreading its influence across the universe. but i like the idea that the destroyer can waltz out of a big enough hunk of eridium. so it will bust out of pandora’s eridium scar. F in chat for pandora but also lmfao the amount of tentacles and rage would be unparalleled.

reality is that the twins are probably farming this scar for eridium to turn into slag for multiple purposes. like brainwashing their cultists, giving them powers, and ensuring their guns have their manufacturer’s quirk (im getting to this in my next post bc im just gonna compile all the ign gun videos into one big post)

the floor art is different from the actual sanc-iii demo. i mention this first in my behind closed doors panel analysis, but im gonna mention it again because this is ~official~. the floor list on the first walkthru of sanc-iii we got had the names of all the crimson raiders and lines leading to their shops. so we had the infirmary/tannis, marcus, moxxi, etc listed on the floor. i imagine this new sanc-iii will change as we get more people on board or if we do a sort of re-decoration of the ship.

also also, it’s cool to see that we have 4 rooms on the minimap, likely one for each of the VHs (and your coop buddies). ive seen speculation that the other, non-played VHs will hang out in their rooms when you’re not playing them, and tbh i really hope this is the case.

we also know this version of sanctuary-iii is after pandora, so there are no promethea citizens aboard yet. which makes me double certain the first sanc-iii video we got takes place either after endgame (explaining why Lily has her tattoos back) or right after Athenas (explaining why Maya is there). which... i mean... spoilers, guys.

either way, i am saddened because no more mule characters. and way less space the more characters you make and more gear you find, because all gear you put in here is there across all characters. i hope this means our backpacks will be a lot bigger this time around!

on the bright side: bank upgrades increase capacity by 5. with a base of 10, and 8 upgrades, we have 50 slots to fill. which is a big leap from the original 24. it is still a shame we have to share these across characters, tho

offline cultist stream? makes me think the CoV really was trying to steal/take over sanc-iii from the crimson raiders and we went to go take it (back?) in Taking Flight. either the CoV found/ordered Sanc-III, or the crimson raiders were building it/fixing it up, their stronghold got taken over, and the CoV were prepping it for takeover.

the shooting range. and if you notice that little CoV symbol in the bottom left there? yeah pretty much backs up my previous theory

lake effect kid EP

(or: “chicago” is a funny way to pronounce “patrick”: the album)

first of all, i would like to thank fall out boy for the best gift ever: three love songs to my hometown released on my birthday. three love songs with peterick overtones. I listened to this album four times through on my run this morning and loosed a single giant, ugly sob out in public to the morning air. (there was also a LOT of fist pumping and slamming my foot into the pavement on the downbeats, but let’s not make a full catalogue of everything embarrassing about me this morning, thanks)

let’s dive in, cuz i’ve got FEELINGS

(and what is the lake effect but excess, but overstated, amped-up reactions to changes in the seasons, the weather, the heart??? HOO BOY LET’S GO)

1. lake effect kid

the year: 2008. the song: a hopeful starry-eyed rising-fame chicago kid anthem, starting with a verse about how touring and the band’s success is literally heaven, and the nostalgic annoyance of van days, joe’s old van that only ran with the heat blasting. the prechorus places us squarely in 08 with pete’s LA isolation and growing pharmaceutical dependence ((boxed blondes have less fun breaks my heart for every reason. pete writes SO MANY lyrics about blonde & fake vs. golden & true, and someday i will write a post about it))

the chorus—boomerang my head into the city i grew up in / again and again, forever a lake effect kid—speaks to how, no matter how far they travel and where fame takes them, chicago is always home. the skyline runs in their veins like blood. summer love on a gurney with a squeaky wheel is hospital-room desperation, a sweaty boys-in-vans affair that, from this angle, seems doomed from the start… because remember 2008 is when the petericks and the band are falling apart.

(that they re-recorded it now, in the modern era? tells us that what he felt, he still feels. that these sentiments are always and have always been true.)

and this is my thesis, honestly, of the ep. these are love songs about chicago, yes. about themselves and the band and their history. but they are also love songs about the person who is chicago to pete. they are love songs to patrick.

love songs to the person pete will come back to, again and again and again and again and again.

2. city in a garden

this fucking track. We’ve got a peculiar Infinity/SRAR blend, sonically, where it opens with sounds of IOH and rises to an anthemic SRAR feel by mid-song. it’s the happiest, most optimistic song on an EP that is all about home, belonging, and true love, and in it pete writes I LOVE YOU CHICAGO because that’s easier and safer and more allowed than saying the thing he also means, I LOVE YOU PATRICK STUMP. this is a dual-layer song, with a hometown reading and a truelove reading, and i think both are valid and intended.

right away, it opens with the plea of a boy who moved to LA and can’t stop looking back: take me home, take me home. You make me feel so summer fling adds to a long and lustrous history of describing patrick and their tryst in terms of summer, especially in the context of summer tour: summer is a season outside of time, where there are no consequences and anything is possible. summer isn’t real life. summer is you but better than real, blood more vibrant, ribcage more cavernous, heartbeat more vital and raw. You know that i know that i owe you everything feels like love to the chicago music scene as well as something that pete and patrick might both say, and mean, to each other. without patrick’s voice, FOB as we know it wouldn’t exist. that nightmare-magic truest kind of love wouldn’t exist.

the rush of having no tomorrow, love that was doomed from the start, outrunning your doom… and patrick being the one thing pete’s found that’s worth holding onto…

this bit is so incredibly pete, and the heavy punch on stuck reminds me powerfully of novocaine, a song originally demoed for SRAR: you charged me up, charged, charged me up. I was something they forgot to label “fragile”, now I’m stuck. And you know too much. You’re the one true thing, you’re the one.

that is not a verse about a place. that is a verse about a person. In novocaine, stuck/numb means hopeless in love and unable to get out, even if you want to. this verse is about falling in love so hard you break yourself and can never reassemble. can never be the same. it’s about patrick being the type of love that you don’t believe exists until you have it--the ‘there are no atheists in foxholes’ kind of love.

we get the homesickness, these two boys who bleed chicago but now live in LA, these boys who spend so much time on the road that they don’t even recognize home when they’re there, in the next verse: and i’m just living out a suitcase. watch me now, watch me as i drive away. I’m supposed to leave you at the end of the season but i’ll stay. two layers to this: the feeling of leaving your hometown at the end of the holidays or summer vacation, and the feeling of leaving patrick at the end of a tour cycle. and saying to both the person and the place: i’ll stay. in my heart, in my soul, i will stay. you’re the one true thing, you’re the one.

3. super fade

it doesn’t sound like classic FOB the way the first two tracks do. this is something else, the way Y&M was something else. this is classic FOB feelings and sentiments turned on their heads and made into nightmares. this is about the dark side back end of love, the wrong side of reality. this is about fucking up and scraping raw and emptying out and loving, loving, loving so stupid it’ll kill you. it sounds like the hiatus. it sounds like always making the same mistakes.

Writer’s Retreat (AU), Part 5 - Chris x MC x Zig

Summary: As MC (Charlotte) starts making more progress on her book, she hangs out at the bar with Chris and has a surprise encounter with a certain park ranger.

When Charlotte unlocked the front door of the cabin, she could hear her phone singing. Her heart started pounding and she forced herself to walk, not run, to pick it up. When she reached it, her heart sank a little. Charlotte hadn’t really expected James to call, but she still found herself feeling slightly disappointed at having her hopeful fantasy shattered. The warm feeling she’d had in her chest from her hike with Chris was fading and once again, Charlotte wondered what the hell she was doing.

“Hey, Zack,” Charlotte said when she answered the phone.

“What’s wrong? You sound like someone just ran over your dog.”

“Nice analogy,” Charlotte said, rolling her eyes. “It’s nothing, I’m fine. What’s up?”

“I’m calling about your pages,” he said. Charlotte held her breath, desperately hoping for good news. “This story you sent me seems . . . familiar . . . to a certain writer I know with her head up her own ass about an ex-boyfriend.”

“Write what you know, right?” Charlotte said weakly, feeling certain everything she’d done would have to be scrapped. I’ve got to get it together.

“Oh, I have no objections,” Zack said. “In fact, everyone here is loving the pages. Naturally, I haven’t filled them in on the inspiration behind it, but they want you to keep rolling with this. I just need you to make sure that none of this is so close to life that James’s mother would have fuel for a defamation suit or something, but that can all be fixed during the editing phase if need be. Really, I just need you to keep going with this.”

“That’s such a relief,” Charlotte said with a heavy sigh, the weight dissipating from her shoulders.

“When can I have more pages?” Zack asked. Charlotte thought of the hike she’d just taken with Chris. If she closed her eyes, she could still feel his lips on hers, could still taste his tongue.

“Soon,” she promised. “You’ll have them soon.”

“I’m almost done with your book,” Chris said as he leaned his elbows on the bar. In the days since their hike, Charlotte had spent a fair amount of time with him, often visiting him while he filled in for his dad at the Hull Hole. However, things hadn’t really romantically progressed past their kiss in the woods. The attraction was still there--she knew he felt it, too--but they were moving slowly. Although this was divergent from Charlotte’s usual modus operandi, she liked that she had the opportunity to get to know him like this. Plus, she didn’t think it was really fair to get too involved with someone else when she had so many loose ends with James. James. God, she really felt like all of her loose ends were fraying. She’d only heard from him once in the last few days, a late night, misspelled text: “hye i miss u” It was so unlike James that she knew he had to have been drunk when he sent it--he never substituted the letter “u” for “you”; he saw it as the death of language. The text had come in at nearly two in the morning while Charlotte was asleep. When she woke up and received the text, she had really wanted to reply, but she’d forced herself not to. Her resolve had lasted for four hours before she finally gave in and texted, “I miss you too, hope you’re doing okay.” James hadn’t replied and that had been nearly two days ago. She hated that she cared so much.

Charlotte forced herself to pull away from thoughts of James and refocus on Chris in front of her.

“Oh, yeah?” she asked. “Hasn’t scared you off yet?”

“Not at all,” Chris said with a grin. “Actually, I really like it. But I have to ask--are the characters based on real people?”

“Yes and no,” Charlotte said. “They’re sort of an amalgam of several people, although not necessarily on purpose.”

“So the main character isn’t you?”

Charlotte hesitated. It was true that most of the characters were inventions or partial representations of people she knew, but there were two that were very true to life: the ones based on her and James. It was part of why James’s mother disliked her so much.

“Yes and no,” she said again. Chris raised an eyebrow at her.

“You’re very cryptic,” he said.

“I can’t reveal all of my secrets,” she said with a smile.

“Are you sure I can’t persuade you?” he asked slyly.

“I suppose that depends on your methods.”

Chris opened his mouth to reply but they were suddenly interrupted by a beautiful blonde woman. The woman glanced sidelong at Charlotte before focusing her attention on Chris.

“I need the keys to your truck,” the woman said.

“What’s wrong with your car?” Chris asked as he dug in his pocket for the keyring.

“It’s making a weird noise.”

“And I’m guessing you haven’t taken it in yet.”

“Nope,” the woman said, taking the keys from him.

“Give me your keys, I’ll take it in tomorrow,” Chris said. She handed over her own keys and leaned across the bar to kiss Chris’s cheek.

“Thanks, love you,” the woman said before she turned and left the bar. Charlotte watched the exchange with a sinking feeling in her stomach. The feelings were all too familiar to how she felt when James canceled plans with her for Vanessa. I can’t do this. Charlotte stood up and pulled out her wallet, reaching for the few slightly crumpled bills she had in there and dropping them on the bar.

“Are you leaving?” Chris asked, surprised.

“Yeah, I think I should,” she said. “Look, Chris . . .”

“Uh-oh,” he said, the smile leaving his face. “Nothing good ever starts with ‘Look, Chris.’”

“I don’t want to get in the middle of something,” she said. He still look confused. “If you’re already with somebody--” she continued, gesturing to where the blonde woman had stood at the bar.

“What?” Chris cut in. “AJ? Oh, god, no, she’s my sister.”

“Your sister?”

“Yeah,” Chris said, looking slightly horrified. “And she’s gay,” he added quickly. “So, you know . . . lots of layers of ‘no’ there.”

“Oh,” she said, feeling relieved and more than a little silly for jumping to conclusions. Chris still look appalled at the idea of him being with his sister, and Charlotte felt like she had to say something to break the awkwardness. “My twin is gay.” What the fuck, Charlotte? she asked herself. Kaitlyn’s sexuality is not an icebreaker.

“You have a twin?” Chris asked interestedly. “You haven’t mentioned her before.”

“Haven’t I?” Charlotte asked, trying to think back over their conversations. It occurred to her then that she and Chris hadn’t actually shared that many personal details about themselves. Conversation flowed easily between them and it seemed like they talked about every topic under the sun--except, it would seem, themselves.

Chris shook his head. “Not that I can remember,” he said. “Do you have any other siblings?”

“No, just Kaitlyn,” she said. “What about you?”

“Well there’s AJ, who you saw, and I have a brother, Kyle.”

“Does Kyle live in town, too?”

Chris smiled at the thought of his brother. “No, actually he doesn’t. He currently lives in Berlin where he’s in a bluegrass band.”

Charlotte considered this for a moment.

“A bluegrass band? In Germany?”

“I know, it sounds weird,” Chris said. “But he’s always been so into music and he’s really talented--he can listen to a song and figure out how to play it in no time. When he was in college, he got a scholarship for a study abroad program in Germany and he just fell in love with it. While he was there, he befriended a couple guys at school and together they formed a bluegrass trio. Kyle ended up dropping out of school, which my parents hated, but I kind of admire him. He figured out what he loved and he went for it. The band is fairly successful over there and he seems really happy.”

“That’s really cool,” Charlotte said, impressed. “Does he visit very often?”

Chris shrugged. “A few times a year.”

“Have you ever been to visit him?”

Chris laughed a little, although Charlotte thought she detected a note of sadness behind his smile.

“No,” he said. “I’ve never even been out of Maine.”

“Really?” Charlotte asked, surprised. “Why?”

“I don’t know,” Chris said. “It just never seems like the right time. Plus I’ve got the flower shop and I’m helping out my folks . . . things come up,” he said with a shrug. “Someone’s gotta man the bar.”

Charlotte wanted to press the issue further, but she got the feeling Chris was done talking about the subject so she let it go.

“I’m much more interested in talking about your book,” he said, the easy smile returning to his face. “Especially since you admitted some of this is based on real life. I have questions about a couple scenes.”

“Oh?”

“I believe there’s one where Ana and Jack have sex on an empty stage--”

“I’m going to go to the bathroom,” Charlotte interrupted, her face flushing. She’d forgotten all about that day when she and James had been alone in the auditorium. Everyone else had gone home and they’d taken advantage and gone center stage.

“What’s with the spotlight?” James asked, shielding his eyes as Charlotte hurried back to the stage.

“A good performance deserves to be well lit,” she said. “And I heard this is the greatest show on Earth.”

James laughed. “That’s the circus.”

Charlotte smiled coyly. “Maybe you could be my ringmaster.”

“Okay, but we’re not done discussing your book,” Chris teased. Charlotte rolled her eyes and shook her head good naturedly as she headed towards the hallway that led to the bathrooms. No sooner had she turned the corner when she smacked right into someone and lost her balance, but strong hands caught her arms and managed to keep her upright.

“Oh, sorry!” Charlotte exclaimed. She looked up at the person she’d run into and found herself face to face with the sexy park ranger.

“No, it’s my fault,” Zig said. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine,” she said, very aware of his hands still on her arms. Charlotte couldn’t understand why, but being this close to him was both sobering and intoxicating. Her skin felt electric where his fingertips rested and she was having a hard time focusing her thoughts. “I didn’t step on your foot or something, did I?”

“My feet will live,” Zig said with a grin. He seemed to notice that he was still holding her arms and he let go. Charlotte felt a little disappointed at the loss, but she found she could think a little more clearly when they weren’t touching. “Can I buy you a drink to apologize?”

“No, um, that’s okay,” she said quickly. Charlotte wanted to say yes, but she felt so overwhelmed already that she wasn’t sure she could handle actually having a beer with him, not yet anyway. There was also Chris to consider, although Charlotte had no idea where they actually stood. But she reminded herself that they hadn’t made any sort of promises to each other, and one kiss did not an exclusive relationship make. Then there was James . . . Charlotte pushed him from her mind. She didn’t want to think of James right now, not when Zig was standing so close to her. “I think I’m actually going to head home soon.”

“Oh, okay,” Zig said. Charlotte wasn’t sure if he actually looked a little disappointed or she just wanted him to be disappointed. “Maybe another time.”

“Yes, definitely,” she said. Zig grinned at her.

“Good,” he said. “See you around, Charlotte.”

Zig headed out into the bar and as soon as he was out of the hallway, Charlotte slumped against the wall and exhaled the breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. Good lord, what was wrong with her? She never behaved this way about any guy, never had this kind of visceral reaction. She’d never even felt like this with James, so completely out of control.

Completely forgetting about her need to pee, Charlotte took a deep, steadying breath and headed back to the bar.

“Hey, I think I’m gonna take off,” she said. Chris immediately looked concerned.

“Was it because of the stage thing? I’m sorry, if that made you uncomfortable--”

“No, no, it’s not that,” Charlotte assured him with a smile. “If I was uncomfortable with that scene, I wouldn’t have written for all four of my readers to see. I’m just tired, it all kind of hit me at once.”

“You do look a little off,” Chris said, furrowing his brow. “Are you okay to drive? I can call AJ and have her fill in while I take you home.”

“Yes, I’m fine,” Charlotte assured him. She hadn’t even finished her first beer and she knew the way she felt had nothing to do with alcohol. “I promise.”

“Okay, well if you start driving and then you change your mind, call me and I’ll come get you.”

“Thanks, that’s very sweet of you,” Charlotte said, feeling touched. “I’ll see you soon?”

“Yes, definitely,” Chris said, echoing the words she’d said to Zig only minutes before.

Charlotte said goodbye and left the bar. The cool evening air cleared her head a little as she walked down the street, but she still felt out of sorts, like she was being pulled in several different directions at once. When she reached her car, Charlotte climbed in and rested her head against the steering wheel as she pulled out her phone.

“Hey, twin!” Kaitlyn’s cheerful voice said over the speaker. “What’s up?”

“Tell me a joke,” Charlotte said.

“Your face.”

Charlotte burst out laughing. “We have the same face.”

“Well, then, the joke’s on me,” Kaitlyn said. “You okay?”

“Yeah,” Charlotte said, not entirely sure that was true.

“Want to talk about it?”

Charlotte shook her head before remembering she was on a phone call.

“Not yet.”

What are your five favorite songs from your bias group?

as most peeps well know, my bg is SEVENTEEN TEEN TEEN and ugh i love all their songs so much this is a real struggle but i think Pretty U, Beautiful, NO F.U.N, Healing and Fronting are the ones I listen to most consistently ??? (this was my biggest struggle in my 19 years idk man i like all their songs listen to them all)

What are your five favorite songs (kpop) not from your bias group?

Well this is even more difficult but I’ll list some I’ve been listening to a lot recently bc I am super indecisive: Blackout by VIXX (bc i finally added it to my playlist thanks to cass), CAMO by BoA (dude this song is so good i’ve listened to it so much she is my queen), Running 2 U by NCT127 (ah this song is so lit by i wish it was longer tbh), Happy by WJSN (i go so hard to this song) and You Smile by ASTRO (this might be my favorite astro song ever idk i just love it so so much like i love baby a lot but 10/10 shoulda been their title imo)

hmmmm well idk abt you but i just hate jeon wonwoo what a gross nerd who reads a bunch o books and makes dumb puns and laughs unnecessarily hard at the pain of others and is generally very violent w skinship and can’t eat seafood and is wayyyy overconfident and always hides his hands if he’s wearing long sleeves and is generally very shy and introverted and is afraid of dogs and cried at me before you and thinks he’s the best gamer in the world and has the dorkiest, most adorable smile where his nose crinkles up and wow how gross don’t like him at all idk what to say

What do you usually wear for winter/autumn/spring/summer? What’s your “style”?

ahhh mariah i totally agree w you~~ my ‘style’ is just generally comfy lol usually i wear leggings and a t-shirt tbh but my job requires me to wear real pants rip so for work i usually wear jeans and an okay shirt ? my staple piece is long sleeve t-shirts tho i wear them all the time even in summer here it gets p hot but if i can i wear log sleeves and pants bc i’m crazy apparently. i like sweaters a lot too and jeans but idk i’m just so lazy when it comes to fashion help me

okay i was like why vixx bc i didn’t realize someone else wrote this lol but kpop in general i found through youtubers yes yes and i was like wow dope then i only listened to bts for a couple months and here i am now (you can find a more detailed synopsis in basically any questions tag i’ve done if you haven’t seen it by now lol) BUT WOW VIXX HOW INTERESTING OKAY so i liked chained up and dynamite ya know back in the early days of my kpop career so like early 2016 i think then that spring/summer 2016 i was like okay i like bts and svt but i know there’s more out there *clenches fist* so i set out on the yt channel learnkpopnameswithme (?) and i saw vixx and was like wow cool i know a bit abt them and i watched a couple and i think i saw error and was like hollup this is too damn intense bye so i still listened to their music and stuff but i thought there were unattractive and i hated ken (I AM SO SORRY I LOVE HIM NOW IT’S OKAY) but i think when milky way mv came out i was like wow how good and pure! and then a month or two ago i really started watching more of them and their variety lol. but in conclusion i’ve known their names for forever but i was like not into them much haaaa sorry

An epilogue before we’re done

I’d love this song less if I didn’t relate to it so much, or if I wasn’t singing it with Mark. We were finally practicing to sing for my channel. Our voices blended well together, and it made me happy that we could connect over this. Just when I thought things were going to fall apart, he came around and did this for me.

Mark was sat next to me as I played the piano. Jack sat across from us, listening and waiting to give us an opinion. Things finally felt okay between the three of us, which I was grateful for.

“Give a little time to me, or burn this out We’ll play hide and seek to turn this around All I want is the taste that your lips allow My my, my my, give me love”

Despite the angst and gloom the lyrics brought on, I found myself fighting off a smile. I broke it out when we finished the song. I looked at Mark, who turned to me with uncertainty.

“Are you sure that sounded okay?” he asked.

“You guys sounded amazing,” Jack reassured. “There’s chemistry there.”

“We need to film it,” I said to Mark, nudging his arm.

He hesitated, running his hand through his bright red hair (that I dyed a few weeks prior - never mentioned that, did I?) “Let’s just work on it some more.”

He would always say that, but I was patient. I understood the nerves all too well.

“People are still talking about your last cover, Baller,” Jack told me. “Maybe it is better to wait a little bit?”

“What? ‘Stone Cold?’” I asked. “Really?”

“Well, can you blame ‘em?” Mark replied. “That one was… incredible.” He placed his hand on the small of my back, playing with the ends of my hair. “You ever gonna dye your hair a different color?”

I twiddled another piece of my hair, looking down at the vibrant pink ends. “No. Why? Does it look bad?”

“No, of course not,” Mark reassured. “I’m just wondering how you’d look with other colors like, uh… blue… or blonde.”

“Hmm… I like pink,” I told him before leaning in and kissing his cheek. “We’re pink, red, and green. That’s a decent color scheme right?” It was meant to be sarcastic, until-

“It’s the best color scheme,” Jack said.

I smiled wide, although my heart began to ache a little bit. Jack was going to be leaving in a week’s time. I was going to miss him, I couldn’t even deny it. The worst part was that because YTU was shutting down, there wasn’t really a guarantee he would move back here. Jack had claimed before how much he disliked Los Angeles, and how excited he was to go back to Ireland. Sure, I would see him at Vidcon, but there was no certainty that we would actually be able to hang out.

Typically, I leave friends behind because I assume they don’t want to talk to me anymore once they don’t have to. This time, I was dreading it. This time, I didn’t want that to happen. I didn’t want to leave Jack behind.

“I should be getting back,” Mark said as he stood from the couch, “to my wonderful editor.”

He had managed to work things out with Matt and Ryan for the time being. Last I heard, they were going to move out of Mark’s house, but they would still work with him. No one knew how long more they would be around. While Mark was frustrated with them, I could tell he didn’t want them to go. He didn’t want them to move, much less quit, and it was slowly killing him. But Mark was also a man of pride and stubbornness, so he wouldn’t admit to that anytime soon.

“I’m sure Matt’s trying as hard as he can,” I told him, remembering the promise that I made.

“If you were around him twenty-four seven you’d understand,” he replied. “And Ryan’s not any better.

“Just give it some time,” Jack told him. “Maybe with them living somewhere else will help. You probably just need a break from each other.”

“Yeah, but besides that. There’s a bunch of shit we gotta get done.”

“Just try to keep your cool,” I told him, squeezing his hand. “I know things are stressful, but try not to take it out on them. Remember they’re your friends, not just your employees.”

Mark nodded and sighed. “Okay. I’ll let you know how it goes.”

With that, he kissed me goodbye and was out the door. I switched off my keyboard and carried it back to my room. When I came back, I noticed Jack looking at me. My hand immediately went to my face, wondering if I had developed a giant zit in the last hour.

“¿Algo en que te puedo ayudar?” I asked, despite the small rush of paranoia I felt.

He cracked a smile. “Come again?”

“Something I can help you with?”

“Oh. Uh… I was just wondering if, uh, Mark has treated you the way he’s been treating Matt and Ryan?” Jack’s tone was more serious than I had anticipated.

“No,” I replied, shaking my head.

“Would you tell me if he did?”

I hesitated. “I, I think you’d be able to tell if he yelled at me for no reason.”

“Well, I don’t disagree,” Jack said, “I just want you to know, if he steps out of line, know that you can call me, and I’ll kick his ass from across the globe.”

Would he? That was unexpected, especially since this friendship wasn’t going to make it from across the globe. Or… was I just paranoid like always?

“Really?” I tilted my head to the side.

“You sound really surprised by that.”

Time to explain myself through word fumbling.

“It’s j-just… you were friends with Mark before I came along. I, uh, I-I didn’t think... “

“You’re my friend too, Baller,” Jack told me, stepping towards me. “And, y’know we’ve lived together for the past few months and we went to school together. We’ve had time to get to know each other.” He paused, and his eye contact was almost suffocating. What was happening? “I can’t imagine how hard it is for you to open up to someone and trust them, so I’m honored that you’ve done that with me. I just want you to know that you’ve always got someone to talk to, no matter the distance.”

My eyes were on the floor. I was silent, my emotions doing things they hadn’t done in a long time. I tried to link these things to any other similar situation, but the last time I remembered this feeling was when I was in high school. Seventeen, surrounded by nice people at a lunch table. The next time, I was twenty and was surrounded by my now ex-girlfriend’s kind friends. Then, I was twenty three, sitting at The Tube, mildly tipsy.

“Bella?” Jack asked softly. “Did I say something wrong?”

“No,” I answered. “I just… I haven’t had a friend in a long time. I mean, I have Mark. But he’s my boyfriend. Or, now he’s an angry version of my boyfriend.” It was starting to make more sense as I said it out loud. “I mean… I love you… both of you. Jack, I love you to pieces. But not like I want to date you or kiss you or marry you. I love you like… you’re the person I can go to when even my boyfriend is too much, because he is a lot to handle right now. I mean, look who’s talking, a girl with panic disorder, depression, and probably some personality disorder as well. But still. You understand that, and you accept that… and I’m still wondering how you’re not tired of me.”

“It’s like I said, you’re my friend,” Jack repeated. “I can’t get tired of my friend.”

“You… You’ve given me some type of hope. That, even if things go wrong… it’ll be okay.” That was even weirder to say. “I’m not used to this feeling.”

He smiled. “You should get used to it then. And it’s true. If shit hits the fan, you will survive. And if you need someone to remind you of that, you know where to reach me.”

It wasn’t the same as having him here in my apartment. I couldn’t even imagine what it would be like to have the place empty of his presence. I couldn’t imagine what his room would look like after he was gone. Yes, I had Mark, but I wouldn’t have my… best friend.

Is this what a best friend is? A person you can count on to be your pick-me-up, your partner in crime, the first person you want to tell all your good or bad news to. Your shoulder to cry on when it all goes to shit. A person who is better family than the ones who gave you life… Is this what it’s like? Is it supposed to hurt when they leave?

“You know we’ll see each other again,” Jack reassured. “Don’t think this is over just because I’m going back to Ireland.”

That’s what I needed to hear. If it was anyone else, I wouldn’t have believed them. But I’ve learned to trust Jack over time, and I’ve learned to love him.

If there was anything I loved about music, it was finding more than one meaning in a song. A love song doesn’t necessarily mean you have to immediately think romantic love. Doesn’t mean you have to dedicate it to the person you’re crushing on or dating. If there’s anything I learned in these last few months, it’s that platonic love is just as important as romantic love.

Friends are for life. Your true friends are the ones that remain constant in your ever changing life. They help make things less scary. They help you bring out your best self. They might point out something in you that you didn’t see before. You may be apart by distance, but not by the heart.

I got a little teary eyed writing this last chapter, and that's mainly because I was thinking about my feelings towards Jack, and I realized that that is how I see him.
