I keep comparing new characters in Star Wars to past characters.
Not by their personalities or looks, but by their dynamics. Or maybe I just keep replacing them. IDK
Examples:
I sort of see...
-Kaz as Anakin
-Synara as Padme (Synara is a bit older than Kaz, plus she’s a pirate, and Kaz does not like or trust pirates, just as Anakin doesn’t like or trust politicians)
-Torra as Ahsoka (Torra and Kaz do a lot of missions together just like Anakin and Ahsoka in TCW, plus they have a brother/sister relationship, and they’re 5 years apart)
-Yeager as Obi-Wan
-Neeku as Jar Jar
-CB-23 as R2D2
-And if speculation is true, then I will see Hamato Xiono as Palpatine
Part 2:
If Rucklin joins the FO, but then becomes obsessed with killing Kaz for “ruining everything”, then...
-Kaz as Poe
-Rucklin as Terex
-CB-23 as BB-8
-Ace Squadron as Black Squadron
-Yeager as either Leia or L’ulo
-Synara as Suralinda Javos
-Neeku as Oddy Muva
Speaking of Terex, if he shows up in Resistance (which I’m kind of doubting now...)...
-Terex as Maul
-Kaz as Ezra
-Yeager as Kanan
-Torra as Sabine
-Poe as Obi-Wan
One more time:
-Kaz as Poe
-Neeku as Finn
-Torra as Rey
-Yeager as Han
-Poe as Leia
-Tam as Kylo Ren
-Rucklin as Terex (I know he’s not in the movies, but still)
-Synara as Zorii Bliss (the friend from Poe’s past)
-That new girl from the trailer as Rose

Poe Dameron: Legend Lost Comic Series Moments!
Poe Dameron: Legend Lost Comic Series Moments!
Tumblr media
The adventures of Black Squadron continue in Legend Lost and War Stories! I think this is about the point where things start to really ramp up and get super cool. Black Squadron flies into action for a fuel run, Terex Intel, and even some PR stuff! It’s great to see unusual mission stuff for Black Squadron to deal with as opposed to the usual jumping into a cockpit and blowing stuff up. But more…

Conversation
Poe: Now it's time for us to send in our cute little secret weapon.
Oddy: I'm ready, Commander! I love the nickname.
Poe: No, Oddy, not you. I was talking about BB8.
Oddy: Oh, right, obviously.
Poe: Over the past few months, I've had him trained to retrieve intel. And now, boy, it's time to make Daddy proud.
Oddy: Yes, sir!
Poe: I could not have been more clearly talking to the droid.

—CHAPTER 4: a haunting lie
pairing: Poe Dameron x reader (modern au)
previous part | next part | masterlist
a/n: oh no, it’s still sad. I promise this part wasn’t meant to be this sad, but the plot shifted some so the next part should be less sad, at least slightly, I’ll try :)))
Get out of the car.
Get out of the car.
“Get out of the car.” He cursed aloud, even if the echo of his thoughts was only for him to hear, alone in the driver’s seat of his car.
His knuckles were going white from how tight his grip was on the steering wheel and it was only getting tighter the longer he sat there.
It shouldn’t be this hard.
He used to do this two or three times a week. He would get in his car, drive the ten minutes without traffic, twenty minutes with traffic (but usually without traffic). And when he got there, after he parked, he’d simply get out of his car and go in.
So why was he feeling like his ankles were stuck in cement and his hands were glued to the wheel? Why did he feel like this?
Had it really been that long?
He didn’t think it had. But sat there, unable to move, just staring at the front of the Veteran’s Affairs building, he was finally realizing how long it had actually been.
By his count, it had been just around six months.
It had been eight months since he had gotten back, six months since he stopped going to meetings, three months since you broke up with him… You were back now, had been for about a week and, while he couldn’t help but feel it was the best thing that ever happened to him, it had been under the condition that he was going to start going to meetings again.
And yet here he was, parked right outside, and he couldn’t get out of the car, he couldn’t go in.
Not when the sight of the doorway alone was enough to bring back an onslaught of memories, ranging from some of his favorite to some that burned a streak of pain through his mind.
He met you here but even that memory was tinged with pain.
God, how long ago was that now?
“You didn’t need to come with me.” Oddy chuckled out as he lowered himself onto the examination table in the small room. “I can handle check-ups on my own.”
He had already pulled off his prosthetic and laid it on the table next to where he sat while Poe and Snap mirrored his chuckles off to the side.
“We weren’t going to leave you hanging buddy.” Poe remembered musing out as he leaned himself casually against the small counter across from him.
Oddy scoffed back, “Yeah, this has nothing to do with the hot doctor I told you about?”
Both Poe and Snap launched into an immediate pose of feigned surprise at his accusation, Poe even laid a hand over his heart while Snap threw his hands up into a show of mock-surrender.
“I am a married man, Oddy, I would never—”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about—”
They both launched into their defenses, but they couldn’t keep straight faces for long, not once Oddy broke out in laughter again, infecting them with contagious chuckles.
Chuckles which only ended when a knock came to the door and he heard your voice for the first time.
“Lieutenant Muva?”
“Yeah Doc, come on in.”
Oddy hadn’t been lying when he mentioned briefly at a night out that his doctor was attractive, if anything, the lie came in the omission of so much more. He hadn’t properly described how soft your smile was, he hadn’t even come close to quantifying your beauty, even in just some jeans, a shirt and a lab coat…
Stars, he was staring wasn’t he? Your hair was longer then.
“You brought friends?” You laughed out as you entered, almost hitting Snap with the door in the confines of the small room.
“They insisted they come along.” Oddy sighed out, rubbing the bridge of his nose as he watched you struggle to enter.
“Snap Wexley, ma’am.” He stood, extending a hand for you to shake, making you laugh out again.
You gave a brief shake of your head, but the smile on your lips said you were only amused by it, “Ma’am, right.”
But then you turned to him and he felt his mouth go much drier than it was two seconds earlier. He needed a firm slap on the shoulder to snap out of the trance you caught him in, thankfully Oddy was a step ahead of him and provided just that.
“This is Commander Dameron, doc, he was very excited to meet you.”
He clenched his eyes shut at the accusation, shaking his head a bit to try to play it off but you still seemed amused as you extended your hand his way. “Oh well, it’s very nice to meet you Commander…”
“Poe, please.” He stuttered out, desperate for some semblance of confidence or any of his typically charming disposition but he had nothing. Your hand was much softer than anything he had felt before, silk didn’t even come close, “Poe…”
“It’s nice to meet you Poe, you too Snap—”
Snap—
Snap.
Oh god, Snap.
He hit the steering wheel, unable to pry his eyes open. Now all he could see was the rainy day, the rain pelting his windshield, the fire coming from the tail of the plane flying his flank—
He hit the steering wheel again. He couldn’t get out of the car.
He promised you he’d go to the meeting and now he just felt sick to his stomach. It was guilt.
From what happened to Snap, from this becoming a lie to you now… He promised you he would go, the restart of your relationship practically hinged on it. And it was so much worse now, the sickness in his stomach, knowing that this was becoming a lie. He remembered what it was like without you around, he never wanted to suffer through it again and yet he couldn’t get out of the goddamn car.
He just sat there, watching the front door for an hour, still incapable of getting out of the car. He sat there while the meeting ended and faces, some familiar and some not, flooded out back into the parking lot. The sickness wasn’t going away.
He never lied to you. Never. Probably because if he ever did, he would feel like this. This pang of sickness screaming in his chest and throat. It was never going away.
Not even as he pulled out of the parking lot to head home, it was still lingering, like bile in the back of his throat, the whole way home. He needed to sleep it off.
He would just sleep it off and go Thursday. Then it wasn’t a lie, it was just a delay.
Twisting his keys into the lock of his door, he kept that thought in mind, he just needed to sleep.
And dog kisses, he could use some of those too BB seemed to reckon, attacking his ankles and shoelaces as soon as he stepped in. Which were all more than welcome, except the last text he had on his phone was you wishing him luck when you got home from work, saying you were probably going to pass out early after an exhausting shift, and BB should have been asleep with you—
“Poe, baby?”
He glanced up to find you slumped against the couch, half asleep judging by your lidded eyes, illuminated by the dull light from the TV and the orange of the setting sun just out the rain-coated window.
And that was when he thought something he wanted to take back the second the sentiment hit the forefront of his thoughts. That he wished you were asleep. He wasn’t prepared to lie to you, and he couldn’t tell you the truth of what actually happened, he couldn’t risk losing you again. Stars, he felt sick still and it wasn’t going away.
“Are you okay?” You seemed to sense it on him immediately, your brows furrowing in concern as you sat yourself further up on the couch.
BB gave him a short bark, nipping at his pant leg and he realized, much like the first time he met you, he was just staring.
“Poe—”
“Yeah.” He shook his head, trying to shake himself out of it. “Yeah, I’m okay babe.”
“How was the meeting?” You were quick to push the blanket off you and try to get to your feet once he moved further into the apartment, but he waved his hands, trying to keep you in your seat and comfortable as he approached. “Poe—”
He was really doing this wasn’t he?
“It was fine.” He choked out, toeing out of his shoes and falling onto the couch next to you.
This sickness was never going to go away. He was going to go Thursday, then it wouldn’t be a lie…
“Just fine?”
Look at you. You cared so much, and he was lying to you. All you wanted to do was help and he was so afraid of losing you that he was lying to you. God, he just wanted to stop but he had already said it.
He was going all in now.
“You know, I just spent a lot of time talking and thinking about me…” Was his excessive sighing going to give it all away, what if he smiled, was that giving it away? What were you expecting from him? “Can we talk about you?”
His hands gravitated to your feet, adjusting them to lay your legs over his lap now, like you had previously been laid out. He rubbed small circles under the cuffs of your sweatpants, desperate for even a little contact skin to skin.
“Me?” You asked hesitantly, reaching forward to gently intertwine your fingers in his hair now that he had you pulled closer.
“How was work?” He lifted his eyes to meet yours for the first time, still terrified you’d be able to see through him. “You know, what was the most interesting case you had?”
Pursing your lips some, your quirked your head to think for a few seconds. “Hmmm…”
“Nothing good?” He tried to tease, but even his heart couldn’t get behind it, it sounded hollow to his ears. He had to let his stare fall back to your ankle, trying to focus on the touch of your hand in his hair instead of the emptiness he feared he was radiating.
“I delivered a baby.”
That got his attention back, his gaze snapping back up to meet yours in an instant. “You delivered a baby?”
“Yeah—”
“Are you allowed to do that?” He couldn’t help but ask, making you immediately break out in laughter. “I don’t mean like that, I mean, don’t they have doctors for that?”
You gave a small shrug of your shoulders as you continued drawing your fingers along his scalp. “It was a car accident, stress sent her into labor, no time for an obstetrician by the time she made it to the ER.”
“A baby?”
You gave a small laugh again, “A healthy baby girl.”
“Wow.” He smiled, he didn’t know where the heart came from to do it, but he somehow managed it. “And the mother, she was okay?”
“Couple of scrapes and bruises. She was strong.” You hummed lazily again, “Father was driving though, he’s okay but, he was a complete mess.”
Poe nodded, “I can imagine.”
He really could…
“Hungry?” You asked, again snapping him out of his head. You were good at that.
You were good at a lot of things, hell you delivered a baby today. You deserved a monument, not a boyfriend who lied to you.
He pulled his stare back to your ankles. “A little but—”
“Let me make you something.” You added, pulling your legs back and leaning forward to press a kiss to his cheek.
He knew arguing would be useless once you set your mind to something, but you worked a 12 hour shift as head of one of the busiest emergency rooms in the city yet you were jumping up eagerly to make him something to eat just because you thought he went to his first meeting.
You would do anything for him, and he was the asshole who sat in the parking lot for an hour, came home, and lied to your face.
The sickness burned at the back of his throat, maybe he wasn’t hungry. Not anymore.

I had a brief conversation with @bpdanakins about Star Wars Canon vs Legends the other day and how it can seem really confusing and contradictory at times and it made me want to showcase what I think is the easiest way to tell if something is Canon or Legends:  Check the date it was released!  If it was after April 25th, 2014, then it’s CANON.  Anything before that (aside from the movies + TV show) is Legends. Even easier, for me, is:  Does this have anything to do with the sequels or with the Rebels cast?  Do they appear anywhere in there?  If so, it’s Canon!  All the comics and novels and reference guides coming out right now are definitely included in this and, while it’s definitely growing and there are a lot of mini-series comics that make this more difficult, there really aren’t that many comic series.  Honestly, I would guess there’s maybe a little over 350 issues total (about 362 by my count, as of the writing of this post), which might seem like a lot, but they fly by really fast when you actually read them! There are some exceptions to this, which are the tricky things--are mobile games summaries considered Canon?  How about Topps card info?  Roleplaying games guidebooks?  LEGO Series?  Galaxy’s Edge?  In general, I think the answer is “no”, that something has to appear in a story or reference book to be considered Canon.  Though, word of god stuff you can usually count on as being intended to be Canon.  (Also, with some reference books, you need to check the back to see if they have the disclaimer about how they were written based on Legends info, even if they were published past 2014.04.25.) Some stuff is also going to be canon-compliant, but this is not the same thing as Canon--LEGO Freemaker Adventures was said to be Canon compliant, but it’s obviously not Canon itself, for example.  This is a good approach to post-2014 RPG guidebooks as well, where Fantasy Flight Games does their best to make them Canon compliant, but they are not Canon.  (And IIRC still use/refer to older Legends continuity that doesn’t fit anymore.) Also of note is that, just because a character or place is recanonized, that doesn’t mean their backstory is as well--Thrawn in Canon is vastly different from Thrawn in Legends, for example.  Now that Bant has been brought up in a Canon book, that does not mean anything other than what appeared specifically in that book (which is mostly just that she was an old friend of Obi-Wan’s) is Canon. LEGENDS -- is a far more complicated matter, because it had different tiers of canon--there was G-Canon (George Lucas Canon), there was T-Canon (TV Show Canon), there was C-Canon (Continuity Canon, like comics, books, etc., the stories of games were C-Canon, but stats weren’t necessarily, according to Leland Chee), there was S-Canon (Secondary Canon, mostly really old comics that just couldn’t fit in anymore), and George Lucas repeatedly said that he’s not in charge of the books and comics and stuff, he doesn’t get involved, he doesn’t really read it.  Dave Filoni said that, when they started working on The Clone Wars, George Lucas made it very clear that Legends material was not part of his story/it wasn’t canon.  (He doesn’t do so as a value judgement, in fact, he tended to speak really positively about that area, about the stories that could be told, that the fans had all this creativity, he really seemed to like the idea of it.  It’s just not part of his Star Wars.) A lot of stuff was released before all the prequels movies were out, especially between The Phantom Menace (1999) and Attack of the Clones (2002), which was often difficult to reconcile very well with the movies that would then later come out.  (I think that point in time tends to be the most difficult because it was the whole OMG STAR WARS IS BACK! and the merchandise/supplementary material machine went into hyperspeed mode.  XD) Basically, what it means is--consider the date and the source of the piece of information you’re given.  Is it something that’s reflected in a lot of various sources?  Or is it something you had to go digging way down deep into the bowels of supplementary-supplementary-supplementary material to find and it’s only referenced that one time?  Is it contradicted by other stories?  What are the level of prominence of those stories?  Is it contradicted by a piece of Word of God info? But ULTIMATELY IT ONLY MATTERS AS MUCH AS YOU WANT IT TO MATTER.  Canon was never meant to be 100% perfect, there’s a minor mishap with Oddy Muva and the wedding he was supposedly at, when he couldn’t have been, stuff like that is just going to happen.  The Story Group is very firmly not the Canon Cops, but instead there to help facilitate things. But even more important is:  IF YOU LIKED THE STORY, THEN THAT’S WHAT’S REALLY AT STAKE HERE.  Pablo once said about the JA series of books, no, they’re not Canon, but they’re an awesome story!  He still enjoys reading them and that’s what we should, too.  Read what makes you happy!  Either you like a story or you don’t, whether or not it’s Canon shouldn’t make that distinction for you! As someone who very much loves Canon (I’m definitely the kind of fan who digs big tapestries with a shitload of moving parts, who loves the feeling of a living and breathing world that way), I’m firmly of the opinion that it’s not going to matter (if something is Canon or Legends) on whether or not some fan out there enjoys a story or not.  My favorite SW book is a Legends one, that doesn’t stop it from being the best read pretty much ever for me! Canon’s purpose is only to be “what other authors have to take into consideration when they contribute to Canon”, that’s pretty much it.  I love looking into the relevance of various pieces of SW supplementary material, I love putting context to things, I love Canon and it’s the story that has resonated with me most strongly and given me more of the diversity that I’ve been craving (STILL NEEDS MORE THO!!!), but it’s still ultimately only as important as we fans give it meaning, when it comes to how we interact with it as fans.
