how would the octonauts feel about climate change, like how would they react when they find out about it.

Actually, climate change is literally what Above and Beyond is about; and they're not even that subtle about it.

"all of these issues are part of a much bigger problem, that will continue."

"temperatures all across the world are rising, causing red foxes to move further north, and take over arctic fox dens like yours! unfortunately, they aren't equipped for the cold, and don't often survive the harsh winters there."

"due to rising temperatures, creatures are moving out of their homes, and becoming invasive species-- disrupting and destroying local habitats."

"the oceans are rising, all these islands that were once here are completely sunken now."

"the water is rising-- this is called coastal erosion-- see how much shorter the shoreline is?"

"a river in Antarctica! this is a big, big problem! the ice is melting!"

"one degree may not seem like much, but sand eels can't survive in even slightly warmer water; so the puffins have to fly even further out to sea to find food. many of them don't survive the trip."

In season 2 they straight up say the words "climate change" at one point.

And it's not JUST AnB either; they've been subtly nodding towards the affects of climate change since the OG series. Most notably in The Great Arctic Adventure, where they talk about how the ice is melting, and the cubs aren't able to finish their journey because of it.

Climate change is a real problem; all the things we see in the show are based on things that are really happening around the world, and Silvergate/Meomi are doing wonderful work introducing the concept to kids in a way that they can understand-- and I think they deserve props for it. The Octonauts are doing their best to fight against climate change, and help rescue and restore the animals and habitats affected by it. Love that for them <3

Anyways I have no idea how the au works or what it is or what they dynamic actually looks like but we were boiling maple syrup and I was being subjected to hunting stories while nursing a cup of sap after I got my atv privileges revoked for getting wrapped in a four foot piece of old barbed so I was bored in the shack and blacked out and when I came to this is what I had so 🤷‍♂️

Ok, so this is an au from the Octonauts discord server I'm in, a while back @batbitesthebat and I had this argument about which is better, bats or rats (we spoke as if we were these species and it got really poetic by the end)

Anyway, I had envisioned us as rival mafia/gang leaders arguing about the morals of what we did (designs below)

Eventually, stuff about how Bat and @notakoollad being in a toxic relationship got brought into it (they aren't actually dating, it's a joke because they draw each other a lot) (Ladz design below)

In that same server I had also won a tournament hosted by Ladz where they drew me on a date with Kwazii, so then I officially started dating Kwazii (Kwazii's mafia design below)

But here's the thing, Bat cheats on Ladz with like, a bunch of other people, one of which being Kwazii (MY boyfriend)

So the au focuses around the rivalry between Bat and I, the toxic relationship between Bat and Ladz, Kwazii cheating on me with Bat, and our mafia nonsense

This was long and really complex, but idk guess I'm just delulu ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

anybody want a discord to join?

so. wei created a huge multifandom rp focused discord, especially with lesser known fandoms in mind! it has all kinds of fun stuff and you can really choose your own experience! (ignore the name of the server, it was the only thing we could think of to call it)

you might want to join if:

. you want a server that is dedicated to being the best it can be!

. you want a server that respects all headcanons and interpretations while appreciating literary analysis

. you like one or more small fandoms, want to meet other people who like those same fandoms, and maybe even rp as well

. you like dnd

. you want to have the option to create and post things for rps or to not have anything created/posted for rps if you want!

. you like servers where non-mods get to have a lot of say in everything basically on the level of mods

you might not want to join if:

. you don't like the idea of there not being a limit to the amount of people who can rp as a character or how many characters someone can rp as

. you don't like the idea of anyone being able to submit any fandom to either be able to be RPed as or to be banned from rp.

. anything else in the rules and info channels doesn't sound good to you

. you would be uncomfortable with the fact that the only time when wei would consider adding a limit to people joining would be when there are multiple active people for every character in every fandom

. you would want to have stuff created and posted for every rp, even if someone in said rp wouldn't be comfortable with that

. you don't like that the mod team, including us, the server owners, aren't going to be an authority thing but rather a group to carry out server tasks

. you aren't comfortable with the fact that the media here is going to be imperfect and that there will probably be Cwed discussions of said imperfection

I fear there’s a small chance for this community to recover from this, but I think it’s time I finally explain what happened.

I know it’s something of no laughing matter. And I know it’s something that’s NEVER okay.

Yes. I attempted to off myself.

From what I remembered, I had cut my right arm, not too deep but still enough to draw some blood, and had fallen asleep on the living room couch.

Needless to say, my family was upset with me.

Whilst they HAVE forgiven me for the attempt, I’m still quite ashamed. This kind of thing is something you don’t recover from quickly, it turns out. I can’t believe I wanted to do this at all.

Now, me? I definitely had quite a bunch of problems BEFORE the July 30 incident. Things like realizing the true struggles of autism, these family issues we keep having (especially with my dad mind you), having to go back to school, which I had HUGE problems with, the Russia thing, and KOSA. All this formed a bubble, with me wanting to do this horrendous thing. I had considered it LONG before all those reasons too, especially just after the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in December 2020.

But finally, on July 30, 2023, that bubble popped. And you wanna know why it happened?

I posted NSFW in a friend's Discord server, which went against its rules. By ACCIDENT.

And that? That kind of thing broke me beyond repair. Leading us to where we are now. I assume I’m about to get the worst backlash in all my life. Which I DO deserve, honestly. To lose a close friend is HORRIBLE. I myself have never experienced it, but I know there are people here who HAVE.

Sadly, for some, my attempt could’ve been the first time they dealt with this. And that’s NOT OKAY. That’s NEVER OKAY.

I should’ve just listened to the community. I should’ve just accepted that I made a mistake and moved on.

But no, I chickened out and now I must face the consequences.

I wish to say sorry for what I’ve done, even if I can’t be forgiven. I do not expect to be forgiven, and that’s okay.

So, this is my apology.

I want to apologize for wanting to end my life and ACTUALLY trying to.

I want to apologize for hurting the people of the Octonauts community with my wishes to do such.

I want to apologize for ever saying goodbye to this world, only to reemerge just days later.

I apologize for EVERYTHING.

I can’t believe that I did THIS over a mere joke, that I was THIS stupid, that THIS is who I am.

I’d like for everyone to know that this is NOT their fault. You shouldn’t blame yourself for this. Moreso, I should be sorry for myself. I did this because I NEVER considered anything.

But from now on, I promise I will never do this again.

I promise I will move on.

I promise I will become better.

But now, I must calm down, and take a break.
