📚 BOOKS — what level of education has your oc most recently completed/is currently in (GED, undergraduate, grad school, phd, etc)?

Alexei got his bachelor's degree in English Lit, then completed a teaching credential program. A couple of years after he started teaching, he went back to school to get his M.Ed because he's crazy like that. That's the last thing he's done although in the future he's going to do an MFA in creative writing. He enjoys being a student. Yeah, I don't know where he gets it either.

Elijah got through undergrad and got his bachelor's degree. He wasn't especially interested in going to college (he'd managed to build his streaming stuff up really well throughout high school, and was signed to a pro esports team), but his parents insisted and he wanted to shut them up. He majored in art partly because he's actually really interested in it and it would make the four years tolerable, and partly because he knew it would drive his parents up the wall (they really wanted him to major in something more serious and "grownup", and kept trying to push him into premed like his sister) and make his father's forehead vein pop.

🚫 PROHIBITED — does your oc drink/smoke? do they do it regularly, or is it more on occasion or for special events?

Neither of them are big drinkers. Elijah may have the very occasional hard seltzer if he's doing a fun, chill stream, or something if they're out on a fancy date night but he's just not a big fan of it overall. Alexei's pretty similar - might have a cocktail if they're out on a date or if he goes to a happy hour with his co-workers. If he does have a drink, he likes his sweet, fruity and preferably with a tiny umbrella.

Neither smoke, but they both enjoy edibles on occasion. It's usually a weekend thing - Elijah will make them some fancy snacks, they'll both have a gummy and spend the day catching up on a favorite show or watching movies together and just hanging out. Sometimes they'll go out for a walk in the park near their apartment and commune with nature, do a little people-watching, grab lunch together and chill.

💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?

Elijah's absolute favorite people in the entire world are Alexei, and his older sister, Lucy. He's also ride-or-die for all of his teammates (Jude, Apollo, Omar, Flora, Nico and Noelle) and his boss, Rosa, who's basically a second mom to him (he's been working at her coffee shop since he was about 15 and she adores him).

Alexei is very family-oriented and, next to Elijah, his moms, younger brother and older sister are the most important people in his life. After that, it's Chase and Reiko. Chase is a teacher at the same school, and they've become incredibly close friends. He took a few of Reiko's classes in undergrad (and is going to take more with her when he goes back to get his MFA), she really took him under her wing and mentored him as a writer and they've developed such a close friendship.

🎂 BIRTHDAY CAKE — when is your oc's birthday? how old are they? what are their sun, moon, & rising signs (if known)? what about their tarot card, ruling planet, & ruling number (if known)? do they fit the typical traits of these sun, moon, & rising signs?

Alexei's 29 years old, and his birthday is on July 19th. He a Cancer sun, Libra moon with a Virgo ascendant. He embodies his big three traits pretty well. He's very family and relationship-oriented, is nurturing and compassionate, hates conflict and is a natural peacekeeper. He tends to be really well-liked no matter who he's around - he's just got fantastic, soothing energy and tends to be very diplomatic so he can get along with almost anyone. He's hyper-organized, especially at work. He's absolutely that teacher that has weeks of sub plans stashed away if he needs them, and they're all incredibly detailed. He can be a bit fussy sometimes, and a little indecisive when he's stressed. He can definitely be prone to having some very Cancerian big feelings, but the Libra moon tamps those down a bit and mostly keeps them on the inside.

Elijah's 26 years old, and his birthday is on November 18th. He's a Scorpio sun, Leo moon with a Gemini ascendant and he's classic. Think all of the Scorpio intensity and emotional depth, with the charisma, creativity, desire for recognition and self-confidence of a Leo. Throw in a twist of restlessness, curiosity, adaptability and such a way with words and you've got Elijah. Those traits can definitely clash a bit sometimes, and he has to keep himself from flitting from one thing to the next rather than being focused on one big goal, but he usually manages to strike a good balance and make it all work together cohesively.

Excerpt from Ch1 of In Seas of Green

They walked into the Boss’s office, or Wolf’s Den if you spent long enough with any of the family members. The doors let out a loud heave as they shut behind them. The Boss sat at his desk waiting expectantly for anyone to speak. Nikki took his spot behind Nikolai. Hands behind his back, stand tall. Alexei walked over to the lit fireplace, facing his back to the fire, to better survey the room. Matteo stood alone, as per usual.

“Well?” Nikolai projected at his grandson, “Speak.”

“I went to the joint Lucio is known to be at, no one there had seen him. I was tipped off that he was making a deal with a supplier, so I went to the location. I was stealthy, he shouldn’t have known I was coming.” Matteo started explaining it all.

“I don’t care about how it was done, I want to make sure it was done. If the law tries to come for you, you know I’ll make sure it never happened. Is Lucio dead? Where you successful?” Boss knew the answer, they all did.

“I don’t know. When the pier exploded I jumped ship. Almost drowned even.” Matteo bowed his head, not willing to see the disappointment on his grandfather’s face.

“You willingly let an enemy of ours go? Over a bit of fire?” Nikolai’s jaw tense. His sparse white eyebrows pulling together, leaving a small wrinkle between them.

“It was my life, or his. You can’t fault me for choosing my own.” Matteo looked up, eyes narrowing and his mouth turning into a frown, “Would you have rather I died?”

“You should have died many times through out the years, but yet you persist. You're a cancer that grows back no matter how many times it's cut out. You may bend, but you will never break.” Nikolai sighed, “You doubt your resilience, let fear consume you. That’s reckless and dangerous.”

“You’ve said yourself, a small amount of fear is healthy.” Matteo argued, knowing it was to no use.

“When other’s fear me, fear your brother, fear us as a whole. Not when you let your emotions run ramped. Causing failures.” Nikolai leaned back, darkness taking over his features.

“Mistakes were made. I will correct them.” Matteo wanted nothing more than this to all end.

“You will, you’re allowances and pay will be cut until you hand deliver Lucio’s head to me.” Nikki said before boss could speak, though Nikolai seemed pleased with the punishment.

“Lucio will be on the lookout now, he knows we’re taking action against him.” Nikolai narrowed his eyes at Matteo, “You best not fail again.”

“Lucio will get what’s coming for him, you have my word.” Matteo promised. Matteo didn’t intend to kill Lucio, not right away. He needed to know who informed him of the hit.

“Leave us, then.” Nikolai commanded his grandson. Matteo was not one to delay leaving the old dusty office. He took his leave, and made hast. He hated this house with a passion, never feeling welcome in it.

Tysm anon, these were such fun questions to work on and I'm always thrilled to get a chance to think about my faves! I appreciate it so much!

📚 BOOKS — what level of education has your oc most recently completed/is currently in (GED, undergraduate, grad school, phd, etc)?

Julian finished undergrad and that's where he stopped. He was never especially fond of school (he always did well without really trying, but found it incredibly boring and the atmosphere unpleasant) and wasn't going to go to college at all, especially since his parents weren't offering any financial support. But his aunts really encouraged him to go on their dime, and study whatever he wanted so he got his BFA in music composition and minored in studio art. He's not especially interested in pursuing anything further, other than private music lessons to improve his skills but occasionally he kicks around the idea of a conservatory program for piano if he gets more serious about it.

Niko most recently completed his PhD in art history, he also has his masters in museology. He's always been SUCH an overachiever when it comes to school and academics (he double majored in undergrad, and has always been at the top of his class in school at every level), and while he's not currently in any program he's not opposed to the idea of it and would probably leap at the chance to do another degree if the opportunity came along.

I did this question for Elijah and Alexei for another ask, here it is!

💛 YELLOW HEART — how many languages does your oc speak? what language(s) are they learning, if any?

Julian's fluent in English and French, and has learned quite a bit of Greek for Niko's family - he's probably in between a B1-B2 on the CEFR scale. He's working on improving his Greek more than anything, but he's not averse to picking up little bits of Italian or German from Niko and Saoirse. He finds languages really interesting to dabble in, even if he's not looking to become fluent in them.

Niko's fluent in English and Greek (he grew up bilingual), as well as Italian which he studied through school and undergrad. He's around a C1 in French, and at about the B2 level in German, both of which he started learning later because they're both so vital in art history studies. He lowkey hates speaking German though, and tends to stick more to reading and writing in it while he's happy to speak French.

Elijah's only fluent in English, but he's learning Korean mostly on his own with the help of one of his teammates, Flora. He's still very much a beginner at it, somewhere between A2-B1 on the CEFR scale. He took Spanish in school but has forgotten pretty much everything he learned since he never used it.

Alexei speaks English fluently, and while he's not fluent in either he's relatively advanced in both Spanish and French. He's a bit better in Spanish (especially with speaking) as he took it in school and didn't start learning French until he was an adult. He's probably close to C1 in Spanish, and B2 in French. He's a bit like Julian in that he just finds languages really interesting and tends to pick them up easily, so they're a fun hobby for him.

☕️ HOT BEVERAGE — does your oc prefer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, water, or some other drink? how do they like to take this drink (ex. coffee with milk, hot chocolate with whipped cream, a specific kind of tea, etc)?

Niko is all about tea lattes and while he prefers a good chai latte, he'll drink matcha lattes or earl grey lattes as well. He'll drink coffee, but generally doesn't enjoy it. Every great once in a while he likes a good, really rich cup of dark chocolate hot cocoa. He's not really a fan of water overall - he'll drink it because it's necessary, but it's boring. He prefers sparkling, and would rather it be flavored.

Julian probably loves sparkling water than anything else. He just finds it really refreshing, unlike still water which he thinks tastes kind of stale. He's not a big fan of coffee overall, it makes him feel a bit jittery, so he usually sticks to tea. He loves green and white teas, he definitely prefers them over black teas which he finds can get a bit bitter and unpleasant.

Alexei's an iced coffee boy. Even if it's cold out, that's what he wants. He has a few favorite drinks from Literati that he loves, but will often make himself a big travel cup of it at home (with fancy syrups) to take to work with him. They always keep a jug of cold brew concentrate in the fridge to use as a base and he goes through it pretty quickly (less quickly now that he knows you're supposed to dilute it).

Elijah's one true love is matcha, and he makes himself all sorts of fancy concoctions and lattes with it. But he loves coffee too, and fancy hot cocoa. Don't make him choose between his children, he literally works at a coffee shop and will try anything once.

🤔 THINKING FACE — what are some of your oc's quirks/mannerisms?

Okay, this is the hard one! This is something I hadn't really considered before so I don't have a ton for you (sorry!), but here's what I've managed to think of for them over the last few days.

Niko talks with his hands, especially when he's talking about something he's really passionate about. He's also a fidgeter when he's stressed or trying to focus himself - he alternates between bouncing his leg under the table if he's sitting, tapping his fingertips against the table or any flat surface in front of him or, if neither of those things are an option, twisting one of the many rings he wears as a fidget.

Julian is 100% a lip biter when he's worried, or stressed, or concentrating. When he's really focusing on something, he'll stick the tip of his tongue out just a tiny bit which Niko finds ridiculously cute. Julian has no idea that he does this, and Niko will never tell him because he knows if he does Julian will get embarrassed about it and stop doing it.

Alexei taps the tip of his pen or pencil against his desk when he's reading essays or parent e-mails or whatever, usually to the rhythm of whatever song's currently stuck in his head. He's also a hummer and will often be humming something under his breath quietly when he's trying to concentrate on something.

Elijah furrows his brow when he's concentrating on something and he doesn't realize he's doing it until Alexei's stroking the pad of his thumb between his eyebrows to release it. He tends to doodle absentmindedly whenever he's left with a pencil or pen and something he can draw on - could be the back of an envelope, a cocktail napkin or an actual notebook. He's also incapable of sitting in a chair properly - he's either sprawled out in it with a leg hooked over one arm, perched on the edge with his feet tucked up under him or leaning back in it.

Alexei Wilder didn't used to hate parties. He wasn't much of an extrovert, and the majority of the events he'd attended had been in pursuit of a target, but even so, parties had a certain charm. There was something about being surrounded by people, united for the common purpose of celebration, and happily distracted enough to not pay him any mind.

There lay the root of his issue with Uriah's parties. Here, he was the distraction.

It wasn't too bad at first. Fox dressed Lex in suit pants and a black silk shirt and kept him at his side as he made the rounds, greeting guests. At dinner, he knelt on the floor beside the CEO's chair, a debasing position that Lex was actually grateful for. Here, the eyes weren't lingering on him. Here, they wouldn't touch him, at least for a little while. Uriah had even been gracious enough to let Lex keep his cybernetics for the party, though the threat of having them taken away for good if he tried anything was still being held over his head.

But that wasn't bad. If anything, that was normal. Until—

"You're a terrible host, Fox." A meticulously groomed brunette across the table was leaning past his cocktails and hoeur d'oeuvres, addressing Uriah though his eyes were heavy on Lex. Before the Tower, Lex would've stared back, pouring threats into his gaze until the other man backed down. Now, it felt safer to drop his head and hope he lost interest.

"Oh?" came Fox's response.

"You haven't let anyone play with your new toy."

(Ploy, alloy, coy.) Pretentious dickhead. Alexei had learned pretty quickly that the city's wealthy had a glitzy, roundabout way of speaking, especially to each other. It made him want to puke.

But under the thick layer of disgust, there was still the fear of this guest's—all the guests'—intentions, as well as the hope that Uriah would prove to be his usual controlling self and shut the request down. Instead—

"Of course. Where are my manners?"

(Planners, banners.) Lex's stomach dropped. He'd beg Uriah to take it back if it would change anything, but that would only show weakness—fear—to the guests.

Under the table, he saw the brunette man's hand move, tapping his knee.

"Here, boy."

Are you fucking kidding me?

He didn't say it. Somehow, he didn't say it. That would only give them something to punish, only make things that much worse.

One stern look from Uriah, and Lex was crawling under the table to a chorus of amused laughter. He prayed that at the very least, none of them knew who he was, who he used to be, but Uriah wasn't the type to hold his tongue when there was bragging to be done.

He tried to retreat from his body, placating his mind with fantasies of setting the tablecloth on fire and beating the shit out of the man who was now sitting above him, tracing his cheekbone with a finger, hunger in his gaze.

This new enemy tilted his chin up and pressed a glass to his lips. When Lex caught the sharp smell of alcohol inside, he drank without protest, grateful that he could at least be moderately numb to the humiliation.

But the man didn't stop, and drink after drink was poured down Lex's throat until the room was spinning and he was no longer sure if this was a kindness or a curse.
