OCEANS' TRASH PROBLEM: A Global Issue

The plastics in the ocean are now a rising global problem, disturbing the ecosystem and killing many organisms.

Although cleaning efforts for the ocean are pushed, it only cleaned 1% of the trash.

We cleaned more or less 2 million tons of plastic, but still, this is not enough. Annually, we dump 18 million tons of trash in the oceans.

By 2020, there will be 1 ton of plastics in 3 tons of fishes. And scientists also estimated that in the year 2050, there will be more trash than fishes.

Do Lifeless Plastics Devour Marine Lives?

 We all know that humans use plastics everyday for baggages and such. Wherever we go, plastics can be found. And because of people’s ignorance, these plastics can be seen in the streets and even on the shore. These plastics floating in the ocean can cause water pollution. Which can endanger the life living in the ocean.

 Water Pollution happens when a toxic substances enters the water bodies getting dissolved in them. If the humans continue to throw garbages(plastics) in the ocean, then there could be a chance that number of platics in the ocean is greater than the number of marine lives. Animals are not conscious of what they are eating as long as it is moving. There had been discoveries that inside a whale’s stomach are plastics and garbages which is the cause of it’s deaths. As humans and the stewards of God’s creation it is our duty to protect the lives living under the water.
