Random thought of the Day 3
Another possible hot take?
Modern Warriors wouldn't be an Actor or a Model. Maybe on the side he could? But I see him more of a Cozy Youtuber.
If I could compare he would give me the same vibes as bernadette banner and rachel maksy. Whimsical and historical with a touch of cosplay.
This is also to say I want him to be peak coziness in the fall and winter. I think Modern Warriors would be whimsical and would make his own clothing.

I'm currently so bogged down with end of year college assignments and it's distracting me from the really important things in life (Eddie) (and also ur blog). I'll love you forever if you could please write something sweet and domestic (maybe smutty who knows) about reader coming home to babyboy after a long day of being busy and just catching up🥺💕
foreword: wrote this with linecook!Eddie in mind hope that’s ok! some fluff and comfort for ur dash <3
wc: 1.2k
cw: fluff, food eating, soft Eddie who’s also kinda… soft!dom in this, gn!reader (pet names used)
___
The long work day has finally caught up with you, hitting like a freight train just as you drag your weary self through Eddie’s door. Every limb feels heavy as you clumsily pull your arms from your coat sleeves, fingers blundering through the motions of unlacing your work boots.
“Eddie?” Even your voice sounds tired. There’s no sign of your boy in the living room or kitchen; you push open his bedroom door, only to still in the doorframe.
Eddie’s stretched out facedown on his bed, cheeks rosy with sleep and half-squished against the patchwork quilt. His hair is a riotous sprawl down the thin white tank top of his back, dark strands curling in on themselves with the rise and fall of his deep, slumbering breaths.
You tiptoe around the pile of his work clothes on the carpet- he must have just beat you home- and fondly stroke a hand down the slope of his back. He twitches in his sleep, hand tucked under his chest mindlessly seeking your affection.
You give in, for the time being. Strip down to your own underclothes, slot the length of your body next to his, let your bare legs tangle together while you nuzzle at the top of his head.
Eddie smells smoky and warm, like the cigarettes from his smoke breaks; he was on grill today, you think, maple pancakes and the heavy fattiness of bacon faint under the Irish Spring and cologne he’d dotted onto his neck this morning.
You don’t mean to fall asleep, but the next thing you know, Eddie’s lips are pulling you from a dream, hazy with love. He kisses your cheek, the arch of your brow, strokes a ring-cooled knuckle down the column of your neck before kissing there, too.
“What d’ya want for dinner, angel?”
His voice is thick with sleep. Your lashes flutter in response.
“Mmm. A nap.”
Eddie chuckles, leans forward to mouth at the top of your shoulder. “How about pasta?”
You hum lightly in affirmation, sliding an elbow into the mattress to start getting up- but Eddie squeezes the meat of your arm, stilling your movements.
“Where you goin’?”
Through bleary eyes, you find the dark chocolate of Eddie’s, which are trained on your face with sparkling amusement.
“Uh. Was gonna help you? I’m not the only one who worked a long shift today-”
“Absolutely not.” His hair ripples over both shoulders as he shakes his head. “You think I’m lettin’ you be sous-chef after starting a fire in my damn kitchen? Forget about it.”
You scoff, defiant, pushing up into your arm to glare- “It was a paper towel that briefly caught alight. Don’t be dramatic.”
“Fat chance.” Eddie puts one big hand over the entirety of your face, pushing until you give, maneuvering your head back to the pillow. “I’m making pasta and you’re gonna lie here all pretty ‘til it’s done. Capiche?”
In answer, you pout, but close your eyes obediently- from experience, you know it’s pointless to argue.
He presses a final kiss to your temple, taking the warmth of his hands with him as he heads to the kitchen.
You doze for the next few minutes, sleep flirting at the edges of your mind, the clanking and bustling noises from down the hall a familiar backdrop that nearly lulls you back to dreamland.
“Soup’s on.” Eddie pads back into the room, light from the hallway cutting a bright path against the floor. His palm cups the side of your cheek, then slips down to pat at your hip. “C’mon. Up.”
He’s irritatingly pushy tonight- but then, he’s always in a mood until you’ve eaten something. That protective nature overrides Eddie’s deep desire to snuggle back up to you on the bed; he slides a hand around your wrist, coaxing gentle but firm until you’re on your feet.
A steady palm at your lower back guides you down the hall, to the dining chair. Buttery smells hang in the air, tantalizing as Eddie places two bowls on the table. There’s a steaming whorl of linguini in both, oily noodles flecked with pesto, roasted veggies gleaming in a colorful arc around one side.
You watch as Eddie quietly slides a fork across the scratched wood surface, settling into his own chair, leaning back with one eyebrow raised.
Out of habit, you pick up the fork to twirl around some pasta, stabbing a piece of broccoli on the end for good measure before taking a bite. The flavors flood in, rich and smooth, a low ‘mmm’ of approval- not solely for Eddie’s benefit. He’s a goddamn fantastic cook.
Satisfied with your reaction, Eddie digs in, too. A pleasant, quiet few minutes pass as you both eat. The last bits of light from the window above the sink dim, the sun giving way to dusk. From the distant forest, a mourning dove coos, and a Joni Mitchell song from a neighbor’s porch radio answers in fragments.
There’s soft lamplight from the adjoining living room, casting Eddie’s face in ochre glow as he scoots both your empty bowls to the side. He rises, then tsks at you when you reach for the dishes- “Don’t even think about it-” before pulling you with him towards the couch.
Stomach full and satiated, you allow yourself to be maneuvered by his hands once again- this time he settles on a couch cushion, tossing a pillow between his planted feet on the ground for you to sit.
“Hardly seems fair,” you argue, weakly, although you’re already sat, his thumbs pressing at the nape of your neck. “You already made dinner and now you’re… you…”
Your resolve gives out in a single move as Eddie starts massaging the tight muscles near your spine, snaking his fingers up with practiced pressure.
“Wha-at,” he complains back in equal measure, faux-pity more on the mocking side when he follows the line of muscle up into your scalp, working underneath your hair now with a scalp scratch that feels so good it should be illegal- “Can’t just let me take care of you? S’wrong with that?”
If you opened your mouth surely nothing but a moan or equally telling, garbled speech would escape, so you shut it. Let your neck loll and go lax into Eddie’s touch, sink deeper into the V of his legs.
He murmurs some praise in response, words that you’re too far gone to hear, but it’s accompanied by a quick brush of his lips to the crown of your head before his fingers soothe further up.
The Joni song ends, fades into the steady rhythm of Eddie working out all the tension from your muscles with loving hands, the promise of a comforting evening like a warm blanket around you both.

If requests are still open how about theirs only one bed with First?
yes. Let's do this. <3
Masterlist
Content under the cut!
"UUggghhhh! I'm so tired." You groaned loudly as you entered the inn. "Link, please tell me we can go to bed soon. If not I'm right into the trees for the night."
Link hummed and rubbed his face. He wasn't looking that much better than you even if he still managed to keep his perfect posture. He walked up to the reception, glad to have someone at the counter no matter how exhausted. He quietly asks for whatever room they have and gets the key.
As in singular.
You don't seem to notice ready to drop dead into the first bed you see.
Link doesn't mention anything either, guiding you away and into the room he rented for the night. You let him unlock the door and walk in. As predicted, you b-line for the bed, kick off your shoes and roll over- not even bothering to get under the blankets.
Link is shocked. You hadn't even said good night.
Lack of manner aside, he knew you were tired. The sight of you instantly collapsing at first sign of minimal comfort makes his heart ache. He's more methodical with his practice though. He takes off his armor and his layers before getting inoto the bed next to you.
He'll deal with the after math in the morning.
He's never been a deep sleeper but he finds that he quite likes the feeling of you in his arms throughout the night. You both curl into each other and take comfort. Despite the comfort and the amount of sleep he's received, Link wakes up first at the crack of dawn as he usually does.
It takes him a minute to remember where he is and what happen the night before. He looks down to you. You're clutching onto his shirt and breathing softly by his shoulder. Your legs are intertwined together but it's not bothersome.
Link wonders if he should move or not. You're more likely to wake up if he does. He sighs. He's been waking you up early to get the mission over with. And you've admitted to not being quite the early riser like he is. Complaining aside, you still followed him and tried to make it work as much as you could. And you were so tired yesterday-... He'll let you sleep in today. As a treat.
Link sighs, chancing a delicate kiss to your forehead. "...Good morning..."
You don't stir for a long time and Link find himself almost falling asleep again as he waits for you to wait up.
Hours pass and Link feels more guilty as they do so. He's really pushed you over these last few days if you needed this much time to recuperate. It's nearly noon when you finally bilnk your eyes open.
You startle awake and it shakes him in the process.
He opens one eye and looks down at you. "...I was enjoying myself you know.."
"You! What are you-?" You sit up a little. "I thought-"
"This was the last bed of the night." He says quietly. "You fell asleep first... I didn't mind. This is quite comfortable."
"I can't believe-!" You can absolutely can believe this. You push his chest away. "You could have warned me!"
"You were already sleeping." He replies. He sounds more tired than you do despite the fact that he's been up all this time and you were the one that just woke up. "And you looked quite comfortable."
You huff and begin to blush. Link smiles before he opens his arms for you to escape. "You're free to leave if you want to."
Your jaw drops, scandalized and outraged. "You little-!"
He smirks.
You bite your tongue and pout, almost glaring at him before you sink down and cuddle close to him again. "I don't want to get up yet. I'm not going to let you bully me out of the bed."
Link snorts and tucks you under his chin, wrapping his arms around you once more. "Whatever you say, darling."

just got home from work lol - a dq worker. i had an idea of Time reacting to someone who worked as a fast food worker, specifically dairy queen cause of the potential for a funny interaction: "oh yeah i worked for Dairy Queen™" "you worked for lon lon ranch?"
"no there is literally a company named Dairy Queen.. i sold ice cream.." and then starts a whole conversation on what the hell ice-cream is lmao.
gonna be very honest with you dq-anon hope you don't mind me calling you that I've only really heard of dairy queen through that one girl's tiktoks because they don't exist in the UK dvjcedfc one of my wives (@angry-trashcan) told me more about what they're like and I focused more on the ice cream/ customer service voice part of it - I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
“So you've mentioned needing to get back to your own world for the sake of your job, if it's alright may I ask what just what it is?"
"hmm? Sure? it's not really private, the only reason I haven't talked about it is because it hasn't come up in conversation yet."
"I work at a place called Dairy Queen™ or at least I did, they might have fired me…"
Time looks like he's about to ask me a question, not that I can blame him. Our worlds are very different. I doubt he's heard of it ever before. Well, I know that because it doesn’t exist here.
"I don't think I've ever seen you at lon lon ranch before, well and the fact that you've already said you're not from Hyrule."
"... There's a company called Dairy Queen in my world. we sell ice cream."
There’s the look I expected from him, utter confusion. Hyrule really doesn't have anything in common with my own world, nothing I could compare to the chains anyway. How could the post-industrial era even hope to compare to a mediaeval land where magic actually exists?
“...Ice cream?”
Yeah, I shouldn’t have expected him to know what that was. Really though does Hyrule not have ice cream at all? It’s not hard to make; with magic, it can’t be too hard to make a freezer.
“It’s well, it’s frozen cream with sugar and flavour? Honestly, I’m not sure the best way to describe it when I can't just show you. For now, I’ll just say that it tastes amazing and that you’re missing out.”
“Maybe you could show me some time then, we should be able to find the correct ingredients at some of the villages here and Wild has a spare ice rod or two to freeze it.”
“Keep the money for more important supplies Time, it’s not that big of a deal.”
Here’s where I’d happily take bets with the others for if he was going to drop it or not, what with how he rarely drops lectures it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t drop it until I agreed with him. But he seems to have more respect for things that people don’t want to talk about with their past than accidents so who knows?
“Aside from that then, what is your work like?”
"It's work..? I mean the only real skills I picked up are accidentally tipping drinks on people and my 'service voice'."
Most of this is just going to be him all confused, isn't it? what I wouldn't do at this point to show him exactly what I mean…
"You haven't got any more questions have you?"
"... what was that?"
"well I can't show you most things are like where I work, but I can show you how I act around customers. So how can I help you sir?"
Laughing at his face was so easy at this point, the fear in his eyes at how much I can change my voice so easily, worse than it's been towards any monster he's faced on this journey.
He’s more worked up about my voice than the shadow…
“...please don’t do that again [name].”
“Come on Time, it can’t be that bad can it?”
“You - you can stop pulling that face Old man.”
He really does live up to that name, now I can’t help but wonder if ‘old man’ is Hyrule’s equivalent of boomer, from how they use it? How mean would it be to teach wind and wild what that means? Introduce Hyrule to ‘Ok boomer’. I’d just have to make sure time never learns what it means or that it's from my world.
“Can we just… just go back to explaining what ice cream is?”
“I think I would prefer to tease you more. But fine I can go back to trying to explain it better for you.”

Four Being Praised and Called "Pretty Boy"
(Request: By @/beyondtheglowingstars) Hi hi! Loving what I've read from you so far and I noticed that requests are open (doing backflips in my head from excitement)
May I request Four's reaction to getting called a pretty boy and other such compliments over how pretty he is? <3 feel free to write it however you want
(A/N:) I love your stuff omg 😳 hi
and ofc!! Four really is a pretty boy, isn't he? they all are tbh
Contains: hc's + drabble, reader's gender is unspecified, "beautiful" used to describe reader, fluff
Word Count: 485
Tumblr media
♥ Unlike some of the other Links, Four doesn’t mind effeminate compliments
♥ However, as a man in Hyrule, he is completely unused to hearing them
♥ As such, he is certainly going to get flustered (and likely confused) the first few times you lay those compliments on him (pretty boy blue-screened him)
♥ You could lather him in the most sugary, affectionate praises and he’d accept it all with a smile on his face (he’d be red from his neck to his ears, but he certainly wouldn’t have any complaints)
♥ He may get a little embarrassed if you do this in front of others, especially if he’s trying to exude a strong and brave exterior, but he’d never dislike the attention
♥ If you were married to Four however, he’d react a bit differently
♥ You could lay the mushiest, sweetest praises on him, call him gorgeous, beautiful, (babygirl), and he’d take it all in stride, used to your antics
♥ And be careful praising him too much, or he’ll learn to throw it back at you; he can dish what he takes
~~~
Four was embarrassed.
He never saw himself as pretty. Sure, he knew he wasn't the most macho of warriors (hard to be, at his size) but pretty? That was a new one.
...Couldn't say he didn't like it, though.
He could hardly do more than stutter and blush as you stroked his cheek, cooing about how pretty he was. For Goddesses’ sake, all he’d done was…
What…what did he do again?
It was hard to think when you were so close to his face. So close and so beautiful yourself. You giggled, placing a flower in his hair.
That’s right. A few petals had fallen into his hair. The group was walking through a thicket of flowering trees. He came out of it with a few pink petals in his hair and that seemed to trigger something for you.
Now here you were, sitting with him and pushing flowers into his hair. Not that he minded, it was nice to feel your fingers in his hair. It made him grateful he kept it on the longer side, even if it got in his way sometimes. Not to mention how…sweet you were being.
“W…What?” He blinked, coming back into focus as you stared into his eyes expectantly.
You smiled. “I said, you look so cute like this.” You had an almost cheeky look on your face. Like even if you meant your words, you knew that they’d embarrass him.
And embarrass him they did. His cheeks burned, and he couldn’t help but look away. “Must you say things like that? …I’m a warrior, you know.”
You smiled, “I know, but that doesn’t mean you’re not lovely.” Your fingertips brushed his cheek.
As you brushed gently under his eye, and over his red-dusted cheeks, he couldn’t find it in himself to argue.
Hi there, is it okay to request a headcanon of legend,hyrule and twilight separately on how they find or found a baby and they have to raise the baby themselves?
OOOOOO!! How fun!!
EDIT: IM SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG!!
Paring: Legend, Hyrule, Twilight w/ baby (separately) Warning: Death/blood in Hyrule's, mention of child abandonment, swearing,
Tumblr media
Legend
Ravio was actually the one to find the baby! The small infant was wrapped in a tattered blanket on his doorstep, and being the resourceful merchant he is--
he panicked and ran to Legend's house
Legend was utterly confused and shocked at the sight of a frantic Ravio holding a sleeping baby. The veteran was quick to ask him how he got the kid and why on the goddesses green earth would he come to him?!
The two stood over Legend's bed, watching the sleeping baby before turning to eachother. They had no clue what to do.
For the first while, Legend are set on trying to find the kid's parents. He was angry at the thought of this kid being abandoned and wanted to give the idiots who dropped them off a piece of his mind.
But after no progress had been made, Legend kinda realizes that HE had to take care of the baby....
Legend nearly had a heart attack that day
How Legend Would Raise The Baby
The first step Legend has to take is BABY PROOFING HIS ENTIRE HOUSE!!
THIS MAN has all kinds of cursed relics and powerful magic items scattered across his house!! 'A totally hazard for the grabby hands of a infant child!' - Ravio
Most of the items are now in a basement/protective shed aka no where the baby would go without the supervision of Legend or Ravio
Struggles the most with calming the kid and putting them to sleep. No matter how much Legend rocks them or tries to sing to them, their big eyes stare up at him without a wink of tiredness
Eventually, from the lack of sleep and as an act of desperation, Legend turns into his bunny form and curls up against the kid. After tugging on his ears for a bit, the child eventually relaxes against the fluffy bunny, falling asleep.
Legend is relieved the kid is finally getting some rest and haunted at the thought of having to do this everytime they can't sleep.
The Veteran is very paranoid in general but now that he has a full ass baby he has to take care of? OOO ITS GONE THROUGH THE ROOF--
Only Him, Ravio and his Zelda (Fable) are allowed to look after the kid. If he has somewhere to be and NEITHER of them are available? Yeah no, fuck whatever plans he had, he is staying with this kid.
Also has a quiet fear of someone trying to take the kid to get to him
Ravio is very set on dressing up the kid, giving them cute little outfits-- which Legend doesn't fully mind but still doesn't see the point of such fancy onesie that they'll grow out of in a month--
OH MY GOD RAVIO MADE A ONESIE THAT MATCHED LEGEND--
okay...He's a little bit more on board
Overall, he's a very paranoid and anxious parent but will throw everything aside for this kid.
Hyrule
While wandering around the wastes of his Hyrule, the traveler heard the faint cries of a...baby?
Quickly, the boy made his way towards the sound, sword drawn and at the ready as he prepares himself to face a hoard of monsters to protect this kid.
But as he crests the dirt mount, he isn't met with the sight of ghoulish monsters or howling beasts. No, he is met with a much more somber sight, one that made his heart ache.
There infront of him were two lifeless figures, bloodied and torn, embracing eachother with thin arms, a small baby laid between them both.
The baby, stained with the blood of their parents, cries into the wind. Blood is caked around their small and chubby hands, weakly holding onto their mother's shawl as a wordless beg for comfort.
A beg that would go forever unanswered..
..Like hell it would!! Hyrule skid down to the two-- three figures, eyes blurry with tears that threatened to spill. Quiet coos came from the hero as hands slowly reaching to the wailing child.
Blood quickly stuck to the hero's tunic like glue and yet, he couldn't of cared less in that moment.
How Hyrule Would Raise The Baby
Hyrule is in WAY over his own head when it comes to raising a baby
But he'd be DAMNED if he gave this kid away. He found them, so they're his reasonability now!
Hyrule soon found an unexpected bonus his magical abilities! The sparkling lights and crackling energy were a great way to distract and calm the young child!
Speaking of magical abilities, Hyrule uses his healing spells a lot when it comes to keep his child safe and healthy! Baby has a small case of the sniffles? BOOM heals! Baby's temperature is higher than normal? BAM! healing peak to the forehead <3
Oh, the fairies absolutely love the little child!!! Hyrule can not stop the fluttering circles they do around him and his new child! Hyrule is about to gently scold the girls for overwhelming the baby but stops when he hears the giddy laughter.
They laugh, bouncing in Hyrule's arms as they reach out and garble at the dancing lights. That...That was the first time he has heard them laugh like that!!
The traveler didn't have a proper home/place or residence due to his wandering nature and heroic duties, but as soon as he takes in the kid he'll make it his mission to find a proper home for the two of them
Now, that is easier said than done-- and the two mostly stay in the few inns that are scattered across his Hyrule or any homes the two were invited in.
And it takes Hyrule a while to find somewhere the two could stay parentally, but never once did he ever give up. Even when doubts flooded his head and people offered to raise the child for him, he stood his ground.
One night, while the two sleep in their newfound home the hero comes to the realization that...One day he'll have to explain what happened to you and...your real parents...
He couldn't help the tears that welled up in his eyes and he most certainly couldn't help but pull the sleeping child a little closer to his chest.
The hero dreads that day. But until then, he'll give them the life their parents would of wanted..
Twilight
It had been a few years after the hero's adventure. Hyrule was now in s state of peace, which allowed the hero to return to his humble village and continue his once humble life.
Another peaceful day, another day as simple and normal like the ones before. A new and welcomed change of pace compared to those stressful ones from prior years. During the day, our hero of Twilight made his way down his list of daily chores.
One of these chores brought the hero out to Ordon spring (a spring with many complex memories and emotions tied to it) with his trusted steed, Epona!
As Twilight gently washed the young mare, he noticed how restless she got the longer the two stood within the spring. It was a rare sight to see Epona in such a antsy state, especially considering the early morning rides the two did since returning home.
But not even the gentle coaxing of her rider can calm her.
Growing more worried for his trusted companion, Twilight made a move to guide the two back out of the spring, intending to go home. But all the rancher got was a snort of air as the mare dug her hooves into the dirt.
"Epona, what is going on with you?" The rancher asked, eyebrows furrowed with concern. The mare stood strong, stubborn as ever as she...kept facing away from Twilight? Huffing, Twilight glances in that direction as well, expecting...anything other than what he saw.
There by the sides of the alcove stood-- or well laid the golden wolf, the same spirit that has helped him along his journey. A small sense of dread fell over the rancher's shoulders, worries of a new adventures prickled at his mind.
Before those thoughts can swirl, the wolf slowly uncurled from himself. His tail pulling back to reveal...a...a blanket?
Cautiously, Twilight approaches the spirit as he tried to get a better look at the blanket bundle. The sudden shift from the blanket causes the hero to pause, shoulders tensing as he expects something to pop out (and he swears he hears the slight puff of an exhale from his mentor, a wolfish mimic of a laugh) but the hero nearly falls to his knees when the small hand of a child pops out from the fabric.
A...A baby...Covered in a soft blanket with the golden wolf curled around them...Ohhhhh Boyy....
How Twilight Would Raise The Baby
Twilight is actually one of the more capable ones when it came to raising a baby!
Since he grew up in the small village of Ordon, he and a lot of the others in the village helped with raising and taking care of babies! So since he was a young boy he knew what sounds meant what and how to properly care for this baby.
Though he does get in his head quite a bit, questioning if he's the right person to raise a kid and if he's actually doing anything right, he can always count on his friends-- his family to give him a helping hand!
Ilia is around quite a bit! She knows how stressed Link can get when it came to juggling his daily tasks (he refused to let anyone take his work load, saying they've helped him far more than they should of) with raising a baby, so whenever she can she'll watch the small bundle of joy while Link catches up on his sleep.
Colin loves sitting with the young baby, excitingly but gently rocking the child as Link is busy wrangling those cheeky ordon goats
Ya know Wolfie? Yeah, that's the baby's new best friend! Whenever the rancher turns into his wolfish form (out of view of course), his young pup is quick to cling to his soft fur
The two will playfully 'wrestle' (both in twi's wolf form and human one), which is really just Twilight/Wolfie falling over while narrating his defeat as his kid climbs all over him while giggling.
Using his strength, Twi definitely picks up his pup and 'flies' them around their home! The home is filled with childish giggles as Twilight twirls around, lifting them high and 'diving' back down.
A certain golden wolf might watch from afar, peering through the candle lit windows with a softness unlike any other. Wolfie might be the baby's best friend, but a certain goldie will soon join the ranks as one of their bestest of friends <3
Warriors/Hyrule Warriors Focused WIP Sneak Peak
“... So, you came here not as the ‘Captain of the Knights of Hyrule’, or even as ‘The Hero Who Wields the Sword of Evil's Bane’...” You started, light and raspy and something close to hollow that made Warriors ache, you both breathing heavily and bloodied and bruised, and still standing, you were beautiful, taking the place of the late hyrulean sun as you had your knee to his chest and your dagger to his neck, but he wasn’t worried, not with you “... But rather as an ‘old friend’?”
The way you practically spat the words through clenched, bared teeth would have been mistaken by loathing by anyone else, snake venom and the shape of winter winds in your eyes and mouth in your frigid fury, if he couldn’t tell how your usually steady hands shook like icicles in early spring. Knew as well as you did that all it would take is one slip of the blade and his neck would be split open.
“You heard me the first time, didn’t you?” he spoke calmly, breathing and taking you in as if that single moment would be your last.
(And maybe it might, if he didn't do this right.)
You paused, then a snort, then a chuckle, then a laugh, something close to a yowl, or maybe a howl as you sobbed.
Your blade misses his neck by inches, stabbing into the ground below and he doesn't flinch. Doesn't allow himself to flinch, knew you'd pounce on any hint of weakness and hesitation
“Aah… I suppose it’s my loss, Link.” You laughed, it was a bitter, ugly sound. Something that made him hurt and want to hold you in his arms as he did back then, in unwanted ballroom nights where you'd both slip to vacant rooms and talk about everything and nothing. When he felt comfortable speaking, when the vitriol of his fellow men didn't burn against his skin and the loathing both from others and himself for why the war started didn't tighten around his neck like a noose. When you'd both go horseback riding while on leave and you'd smile for him with all the brilliance of a star and all the sharpness of a blade, ready to take on the world so long as you were together.
He hated seeing you like this, broken down and ruined by war and thirst for justice never given, hated how he burned away pieces of himself and didn't think to look more into the situation before he lost you.
(And why would he have? Good soldiers follow orders after all, even if it's against their own comrades.)
He missed you so, so much.
“It never ends, does it?” You snarled out, hurt and tired and something that was all the melancholy of a trapped animal, “You hurt me, you come back, I hurt you right back, you still return. I just can't keep doing this anymore.” You bare your teeth in a smile, half mocking, half desperate, “I can't even slit your throat to shut you up properly now, pathetic, isn't it, hero?”
He felt flayed open, who knows, maybe it would be a kindness if you did slit his throat open. He'd prefer that in the place of seeing the one person he cared for the most a hollow mirror of their old self.
(He knew Mask, Linkle, Spirit, Tetra and the Sailor would give him a good shake for it. But he couldn't help it.
It wasn't the first time he considered ways to end the war after all.)
“It doesn't have to be like this,” He offered, somewhere between the charm he sometimes had to use when interrogating the enemy and a desperate plea, “We can do better, we can make things better.”
“You really think I can just let it go? That they will also let it go?” You say, scoffing bitterly, “Everyone has seen me fighting you today, hero, all remember what I've done. The only route waiting for me is execution if I throw it all away now.” There's conviction in your voice, but hesitance in your gaze as he dares to place a hand over yours, over the sharpened, but old blade, the one he once gave you, “I hurt you, you hurt me. There's no going back from that.”
You don't push him away, so he presses on with cautious hope in his breast, courage rekindled. He is so, so tired, but he'll be darned if he loses you a second time, he's come this far after all, “There isn't. But we can move forward from this, there's no need to let it go, but it's not too late to try and make things better either. Not yet anyway, I know you can't trust me after everything I've done to you, and I can't fully trust you after all you've done either, but I don't know about you, but I'm done with trying to hate you. I'm tired of letting those doubts turn into hate.”
Your grip tightens, suspicious as a fox in the face of a wolf, “And what makes you think I'm done hating you?”
“You wouldn't have let me keep speaking if you were.” He bites back, he doesn't have much time left until the rest of either of your companies arrive, “Come back with me, please.”
His tone is soft and kind, and something in your expression breaks, it is the conflict between loathing and grief and longing, all clashing spears and swords and none winning.
You let the blade go, and he doesn't waste any time holding you as you choke on a sob, doesn't mind the way one of your hands curls into a claw, cutting against his wounds. He's sure he's holding you a bit too tight too after all from the way you wheeze, but you don't push him away, and that's enough.
‘Finally.’
Day 9
Stripping with Hyrule
N/SFW. MINORS DNI.
Tumblr media
“So how It works is you say something you have never done, and if I have done that thing then I take off an article of clothing. First one naked loses. Make sense?”
He groaned, “Yeah but I’ve done, like, everything. So, I’m going to lose.”
“That’s what makes this so fun! I get to stay fully clothed!” Another groan. “Okay, I’m going first!” You clapped your hands together in excitement before a wicked smile stretched across your face. “Never have I ever been a fairy.”
His face fell as he pulled off a sock, “This isn’t fair.”
“Says you. Your turn, fairy boy.”
Hyrule rolled his eyes as he threw the sock across the room. “Fine, never have I ever played this game before.”
“Okay, now that’s not fair.” You yanked your own sock off, throwing it behind you. “Never have I ever fought a pig man.”
Hyrule rolled his eyes, pulling off his other sock. The game continued for a few more rounds, each one of you taking digs at the other until it was finally left to you to take off your shirt, his long gone. “Don’t watch.” You mumbled, grabbing the bottom hem of the top.
“I don’t think that was in the rules, sugar.” He smirked, nodding his head as if to tell you to hurry it up.
Taking a deep breath, you pulled it up and over your head, letting yourself free to the cool room, nipples perking up at the feeling. His own breathing hitched. You threw your shirt at his face, covering yourself from view. “Perv.”
He pulled it down, smiling at you. “I could be a lot worse.”
Linked Universe x Reader Fairy Tale Collection
@luimagines It is finally here! XD Apologies for the huge delay, suddenly became a dog mom again and life has been difficult, apologies to all who waited. Hopefully it's at least half decent, this did not want to write itself at all X_X
Warning for dark themes of the fairy tale kind and violence. I recommend researching Penta by Basille if some of you are curious about the interrupted story, though I did leave a lot out for obvious reasons, the first story is actually a reference and I thought it would be fun to see how many catch it and who would notice the reversal of roles here. No Shadow Links were (seriously) harmed in the making of this chapter, just Reader and their poor mind who can't catch a break.
Technically this is the final act before the Masterlist for each Link, though there is technically a bonus act and an intermission I doubt anyone would be interested in that, y'all came here for the Links and the fairy tales not the lore and behind the scenes stuff done to get here because I decided to pull a Hans Christian Andersen even while trying to keep this as short as an opening act should technically be, might write them down if there's enough interest but for now I'm leaving it up to interpretation xP
Opening Act, Scene IIII
It's almost strange, how peaceful your first few days and nights in the theater were.
It was hardly unwelcome, of course it was a pleasant surprise. Even with it's darkened, solemn corners and the way the shadows played eerily across the walls, dancing and laughing mockingly as they put on a show only they knew, it hardly felt truly unsettling for long, maybe it was just your long time on the road which made you jaded to the concept of old buildings that felt like echoes of their former selves, ever lonely, ever grieving like a widow, knowing their lover would not return from the war but waiting for as long possible before considering taking poison. The building was much the same, threading the fragile, dreamlike barrier of a long, wistful forgotten dream and a feather soft, fondness warmed memory.
It felt just about on the edge of death, but not quite ready to cross the border, it felt alive, like watching a barren wasteland attempt to host life again, even if it wouldn't last long or ever recover.
You believe it's in large part due to it's residents.
It was impressive, really, though you're all clearly wary towards one another, the troupe was seemingly more delighted by the fact they had new people to tell new tales to than bothered by the fact the Chain was clearly high strung from a long journey with the carmine and jade weariness of hunters unable to continue searching for their quarry. Director Raven had given you all full permission to explore and was only ever truly strict with corralling the crew to perform, the obsidian speckled mist of their excitement reflected in the way their coat sleeves flapped while directing each member to their roles and how their steps practically glided across the floor and the stage, their feline companion ever present on their shoulders as they truly gave their name sake justice as they crowed and crooned new characters into Byron's ears, sparkling ruby glee as the bloody feather on their hair and gem collar at the gentleman's smile with the flame bright elation of a mad man as he worked on costumes, scenery and props like a man possessed occasionally hissing like an offended cat at Edgar, who was quick to bark and judge even the slightest imperfection as he marked cues for Anabella's scripts, the woman, once having heard of the Links musical prowess, having lit up like the chandelier serving as spotlight at the stage, gently having coaxed the boys towards Amelia, the petal soft smiling dark haired young woman you've met earlier whom Raven just couldn't help but squawk amusedly at Anabella having a very clear soft spot for, who wasted no time in convincing a few of the heroes to follow sheet music the young woman had written but never quite had enough people to help perform.
It was honestly amusing, seeing the young woman and Warriors practically team up to bully Legend into playing the violin again, the veteran protesting for a good while, until a small, well placed tease from Sky made him cave, you and Wind both pretending to hide bright laughs at seeing him pretend not to smile, the jewel bright sight of her delight making you feel warm as she suggested to the exccentric playwright to share your own stories with the troupe and the boys once again as the sweet notes of musical and Raven's narration rolled up and across the aisles, the ruby cheer of the chattering of their cheek with the sweet aquamarine of your gentleness making even the likes of ever serious steel serious Cal or solemn First smile.
The only incident any of you all had really was when you've met Priscilla properly, or to be more accurate, when Priscilla found you all, the youngest of the troupe popping from the ceiling like a bat in front of you from the theater's costume attic like a reverse phantom of the opera, giving you a small fright with her cat smug smile as she finished fixing the lights and eagerly jumped into Twilight's back the second she heard Epona being mentioned, asking all sorts of questions about horses and their proper care until Edgar came knocking to pry her off.
A few minor incidents were had, what with your boys' usual brand of chaos and only so much you, Time and First could do while Raven rounded up the brand of madness found in their own little troupe (like how Anabella, much like Hyrule, should not be allowed near any form of food supply lest they both commit crimes agaisnt nature and the last leg of Wild's morals and sanity, how Byron, Warriors and Legend could almost snarl at each other like feral dogs when it came to fashion sensibilities, or Priscilla attempting to coax Wind and Spirit onto the attic and catwalks with her to play pranks onto the unsuspecting audience and performers below just to see Four and Edgar twitch), but overall, the first three days of constant strong storms and two of the stories told passed quickly, like the heartbeat of a humming bird.
... Which made your own feelings for a certain hero grown ever more transparent like the polished crystal which made up the spotlight.
How could you not contemplate these feelings? How could you even begin denying something that has been sinking it's teeth into your soul for months now? Ever since the Chain found you, injured and with nowhere to go, it was always moving, ever forward, ever running, ever hunting, for if you all didn't hunt the shadow, it would stop at nothing to tear everything and everyone so much as grazed by the bright, ever burning diamond flame of the Hero's Spirit, with the burning fury of a maddened beast with nothing left to lose, with enough hunger it could render divinity to pieces. So, so so wrong to the very fabric that made up the curtain of Hyrule's stage it made one's flesh crawl before it even set it's bloody, hungry, vile gaze upon you.
(You didn't have a choice, when they'd left you behind, the portal simply opened to place you in harm's way again and again and again and again, you only survived through pure luck most of the time, the other half being due to run ins with different members of the Chain. Eventually, finally, after you'd met again and dragged First's abandoned, bleeding, almost dead but oh so stubborn he wouldn't die quite yet, carcass to camp, they'd decided to teach you how to wield a blade and take you along.
After all, it's not like you could go home.
... No, no, you couldn't go home, ever again.)
Being in the theater was a welcome breath of fresh air, even with the oddities of it's residents. But it also gave you nothing but time to think. About home, about the people who are likely to be looking for you, and kind gem bright eyes, leaves on the wind gentle touches, and smiles that could put the sun and the moon and stars to shame with their radiance and the unshakable, beautiful, lonsdaleite and steel of the will to protect and courage to follow through so, so warm it left you scorched, stealing the breath from your lungs and replacing it with lava and frost, pinning you into place better than any arrow or trick the shadow could pull. Left you aching more than any moment in the battle field, shaking you to the very marrow of your bones as the laughing dove that was affection stole into your heart like a thief, and gave half of it to the beast called love.
And
It
Was
Torture.
How could you not fall for that?
How could you not think about it?
So instead of getting even more flustered by possibly slipping up and making a fool out of yourself, giving yourself away and wanting to just wander into the Lost Woods without a guide and let yourself go mad from mortification and become a Poe (because at least then it would be a more manageable form of insanity), you'd instead taken to haunting the back wings and auditorium of the theater like a ghost. The theater was hardly all that big, but it wasn't small by any means, the size of a noble's summer home at best, so there was plenty of empty supply rooms and forgotten lounges to think, contemplate, and to keep a tenous hold on your sanity as you avoided dwelving deeply into your feelings.
After all, why would he want little old you? Unimpressive, ordinary little you, who lived a most relatively peaceful life before falling into Hyrule, who couldn't protect them properly, who most importantly of all would hurt the one you adored because you couldn't stay?
... It would be agony, you couldn't do that to him. It wouldn't be any difference than the Shadow taking your face and torturing your hero, so you'd stay silent, and hope these feelings died a quiet, peaceful death. At least in this abandoned lounge room you could refrain from making your hopeless longing obvious until you'd need to return.
"Oh me oh my, what are you doing here all alone?" Came a cawed, lilting honey coated rasp, padparascha curiosity in the the flap of nightlock coat sleeves, "I thought you'd want to join your companions! This place is still too dusty for back tours I'm afraid."
... Well, not quite so abandoned now. Is it?
Then again, you're not even too surprised, you'd be lying if you'd say you were. If there was anyone who could navigate these darkned, old halls with ease to find someone allegedly missing, it would likely be it's master.
Director Raven swoops into the room with quick, almost silent steps, a specter with the grace of a Gerudo dancer, sending you a smile, their feline companion is gone, but their ever present bloodstone feather chimes like a bell as they brush dust off an old couch, you laugh sheepishly, hoping that the tempest winds outside took your thoughts away so you could focus, "I'm sorry, you said we could go just about everywhere and I needed some time alone. Hopefully it's not any trouble?"
They cluck at you, taking a new accessory from their coat and placing it behind your ears with a cheeky poke to the nose, you blink as you touch it, a red, red rose, "Oh please, not at all! I'm a professional of my word you know? I was just worried is all, you're basically part of the troupe at this point and your lover boy has been staring at you with such concern, you know? So I thought I'd check on you."
Their concern makes you blink, with a small bite of confusion to their wording, "I've only helped you folks perform for three days now?"
They chuckle with amusement, the tone raspy and crowing as they perch themselves upon the couch, "Doesn't matter! We've had folks who stayed and helped for less time, we still consider them troupe members. Once taken in by the Astoria, you're part of it for all time, can't I have some empathy for someone so clearly pining?", You jolt, the director gives you a knowing smile, mercury amusement and gallium understanding, how did...? "Broken hearts are as dangerous as broken minds and wills to a person, take it from me. I've told and been part of one too many stories to know that all too well, now, why don't you tell good old uncle Raven what ails you?"
That makes you snort, rose quartz embarrassment mixed with xanthic amusement, "Uncle, really? Weren't you the one who said you'd actually take someone to court for emotional damages if someone tried utilizing gendered terms for you?"
They squawk, ruffling your hair with a click and hiss, as they jump up with ruffled feathers and a raised chin, mock offended, "Oh kiss my grits! This ain't about me here. This is about your longing making me sad and me being willing to hear you out from the goodness of my heart, and there you go! Spitting on my good will! As I was about to offer to make you tea, no less."
You laugh and you catch a grin on the director's lips from the reflection of a mirror, you wave them on, "Alright, alright. I'll humor you, will you want some help deciding the next story to tell while at it?"
They wink, prancing around the room for the kettle in the corner, "You know me too well! You're a wealth of new stories, I can listen to you pour your little heart out and grill you for inspiration at the same time. That way your heart will be lighter than a leaf on the wind when you next see your lover boy"
Settling in, you wait until Raven has made you both tea, getting comfortable and taking a sip.
Mhm, coming to the theater was a welcome change of pace. And talking to someone who wasn't Link about this would likely do you good.
(So preoccupied you are with your thoughts and the vaguely floral tea the director had broken out of storage and brewed, you don't notice the way another figure shows up on the reflection of the mirror just as the thunder booms, and how Raven's gloved fingers tighten a fraction as the shadows flicker oddly once you drink the tea. The cinnabar of their smile turning iron speckled with guilt and tense as they spot bloodstone tiger eyes on the doorway. Before turning fireplace warm once the Hero of Skies popped his head onto the doorway after a few hours of listening to you want, they offer him a spot of tea.)
----------------------------------------------------------
The storm still raged on relentlessly outside, it's screams and howls those of lost souls and old forgotten or yet to be remembered deities rending the air with water and thunder, it's been almost a week since you all had started staying in the theater, everyone had settled into a small sort of routine, as it didn't seem like the storm would cease to rage anytime soon. You'd all wake up (checking your weapons as you go, just in case, your dagger on your sleeve a common secret among the Chain members ever since a bad run in with the Yiga, Artemis had taught you and Warriors well and if any of the troupe members notice, they didn't press), go through the usual daily routine you all had while under an actual roof, Wild, you and Twilight would cook with occasional aid from either Raven themselves who twitched and squawked about the injustice of allowing guests to cook before Edgar would cuff them over the head and take over or a very chipper Amelia whose early morning energy could only be likened to a ray of sunshine Anabella would trip over her feet and possibly kill a grown man for, and in turn you'd all take your turns occupying themselves for the day, the troupe making sure to give everyone their due space until the early evening, which is when you'd all take to storytelling.
You couldn't help your small grin as you let yourself be led by the hand by Twilight, blindfold coming off as he twirled you around as you deliberately sang an incredibly off key note, laughter and chuckles being draw from your boys as you were set down onto the stage and raised your tune, his pelt slipping off your head like the heavy, but comforting cape it was, his smile campfire warm and oak steady, Raven's crowing laughter being hidden by a coughing fit before they seemed to compose themselves enough to continue on with a straight face, "And so the wolf, once a princess, remembered the prince. And thought she'd never sing again, and it wasn't very good-" they choked as you deliberately hit a note that sounded like a dying cucco, you can vaguely see Cal coughing into his fist, First shaking his head in amusement in contrast to Sky's summer breeze laughter while Time's lips barely twitched with honey sweet amusement and Wind wheezing agaisnt a laughing Spirit's side, mission accomplished! The director sent you a look, mockingly ruffling his feathers, "Commit less to the bit darn it! I won't be able to finish if I'm rolling around on the floor!"
Your smile widens with cheek, topaz bright with delight, "No such thing as overcommiting to the bit!"
"For what it's worth they don't sound too bad when not trying to sound like a goat going into labor." Cut in Twilight, using your head as an arm rest, you playfully shove him off, you briefly catch a smirk on Warriors face, Four chuckling while Legend leant agaisnt his side for support, good. Him and Hyrule looked off kilter recently, if you could make them smile by playing the fool this once, you'd be glad.
"Oh by the Goddesses- I'm almost regretting allowing you to volunteer on stage. I'm never listening to Priscilla ever again, anyway!" They clap their hands, clearing their throat, "The prince couldn't care less, for he had a dear friend back to him. And so they stayed on that cliff's edge, enjoying each other's company and lived happily ever after!"
"That was a shockingly sweet story," Smiled Hyrule, "Short and simple but just sweet enough."
"Can't believe the rancher actually made half decent royalty though." Jabbed Warriors, though you can feel the amusement in his tone like drinking songs after a long time of conflict. "And that the final conflict was basically triggered if someone ever messed with the vet's raccon pile of stuff."
"Excuse me?!"
"You're excused."
Twilight gave him a side glare then nodded at Hyrule, seemingly deciding that Legend could deal with Warriors well enough and after you playfully darted around him like a prancing doe, snagged his pelt back, you sighed at the loss of warmth and the feeling of security, but ushered him off the stage, "Never been on stage before and have no wish to do so on an official capacity, thank you. But Dusk would have my hide if I didn't pick a thing or two to add to entertaining the village children if nothing else. Have to say that last twist was a shock though." He sent you a glance and smile, "You're awfully good at playing the amnesiac, I'll say. Almost had me panicking."
You chuckle sheepishly, sitting at the edge of the stage, accepting a bit of warm tea cup Raven had brewed for everyone, "To be fair, there's a reason for that Wars, there's technically a companion story for the witch, but the actors need to go through a specific series of actions to be allowed to perform it side by side for consistency and that would be cruel on Twi. Could say the same to you, you make quite the dashing, kind prince. Thanks for coming up here."
Was that a tinge of crimson on his cheeks? You tilted your head and blinked, must have been a trick of the light, "No problem at all."
Edgar nodded, not even looking up from the script as Anabella and Amelia cuddled together to the side after a job well done, "You both together definitely made our job easier. Barely had to cue you both."
Raven nodded with a grin and wink, their voice carrying over the stage and to the audience, "You sure none of you boys want to quit this questing nonsense and join us here on the Astoria? I pay well and give benefits! Byron has lowered prices on potions on the village, plus free food and lodging."
Wild shook his head with a hum, "Tempting, but still no."
Raven clucked, their disappointment exaggerated but understanding as they leafed through the scripts you've both brainstormed together, "Ah well, worth a try. Come here then, I want your opinion on our next pick for today, I think we can squeeze a short one separated from the original deal as a bonus."
You nodded, getting up and handing Priscilla the empty tea cup back before walking over, pausing, did... Was there a hollow space beneath the stage? Experimentally, you let your steps weight a bit more onto the stage. That sounded like a trapdoor, huh. Why only use the attic? Maybe it was stuck? You catch Time's eye, he inclines his head questioningly, you mouth at him 'I'm fine, later', then bound over to Raven's side, looking at the scripts, "Any you had in mind? We're probably exhausting my mental stock at this rate if none of the noted ones do."
"Well I'm not about to go on the Hyrulean ones just yet, you have any idea how performing the same old legends over and over again can grow dull? No matter how many twists and turns one adds?" They deadpan back, you cover a wince as Four and Sky twitch, before picking one of the sheets at random.
Your voice sounds distant to your ears as you pinch the parchment between two fingers, analyzing it critically, then presenting it to the director, "How about this one? Should be short enough right?"
The Director peeks over your shoulder, head tilted from side to side, the feather on their hair seems more bloody than usual, as if the crystal would flow crimson and stain the hardwood floor. That cat is back on their shoulder again, looking at you with sharp, intelligent eyes.
(Too intelligent, hisses your mind, as mercury heats into burning iron at a forge, then cools, something is wrong wrongwrong
Come now, relax, it'll all be alright. Play along
Nothing is wrong, it's all in your head.)
"Penta the Beautiful huh? Are you sure?"
You nod firmly, "Yes. This one will do quite nicely."
(Raven's ever present smile dims, the embers of a warm fireplace and stories around the fire dying a quick death, Anabella holds onto Amelia a bit tighter as Priscilla pales, quickly leaving the room guided by Byron after ushering you back stage for a change of ensemble and to hand you the appropriate props while Edgar resolutely keeps an eye on the cues the director handed him.
The Chain notices, because of course they do, and trade a look, Spirit trades a look with Wind and slips away to the entrance with Warriors to try the heavy door.
It's locked, the shock of magic making the captain hiss. Though the air remains unnervingly sterile.)
The stage is set with no fanfare by Byron, and you walk back out with a fine white dress suit and boots to match, a mix of a suit and a dress, your head feels clouded, as if you're trying to traverse the deep fog of the Lost Woods with naught a single lantern or guide in sight to light your way, you vaguely hear Director Raven start to talk, echoing and crowing raspily with the first words that every good tale start with, "Once upon a time, there was an once prosperous kingdom. Home to a handsome king, a beautiful queen, and the king's sister, one day the queen fell ill and eventually passed for no cure could be found and no magic could heal her. I suppose some things are simply fated to happen, but the king, maddened in his grief, started lusting for none other..." The director paused, sneering with a disgusted shiver, you think that if they truly were a bird, their feathers would be ruffled, "His own sister."
You could see the exact second that each Link cringed back, those with siblings of their own (or who actively looked over others as siblings themselves) turning to ash white and to thistle green with revulsion and horror, the director nodding along with a hand over their head in a mock swoon, "I know! How could such vile thoughts manifest in a ruler's mind? It's preposterous! Outrageous! Horrifying! Though the words of a proposal did indeed leave his mouth, his sister princess was equally bewildered and disgusted, spitting venom from her spleen with rage."
That was your cue.
You growled, snarling with fury hot enough to rival a dragon's flame, allowing poison to sharpen your tongue, "You may have lost your mind, but I shall not lose my modesty or my shame! Why would you offer me rotten eggs when you need fresh ones?! How dare you!", somewhere in the audience you hear a choke, but you continue on. Committing to the role with a dedication you didn't know you possibly possessed, feeling vaguely disconnected from your body and actions, "I regret that you have a tongue to speak of such lecherous actions towards myself and that I unfortunately have the ears to hear such a suggestion. Am I your sister or cheese cooked in oil? Either way those and siblings not mix! Either way, go find a holy spring to bathe in so you may set your mind back on straight." You gesture towards yourself, baffled, "I am not a morsel that would make anyone lose their minds over, so what on Farore's good land about me could have made you grown so sick in the head?"
The director continued on, tone dry as they set their hand on a hip, "I'll spare you the monologue, my dear audience, because I'm sure it would make both you, me and our poor performer here retch and that would be a waste of Sir Wild's lovely cooking. It essentially boiled down to her hands. So, after acquiring her answer, she left in a flurry of rage and conviction, after all, if it was her hands that caused this..." The director trailed off, pausing, mouth clicking shut.
As if not willing to continue on.
(The pain in your head was getting worse.
"If it was his love for her hands which caused this, all she'd need to do is chop them off.")
Conflict passes through their slate gray gaze, before determined resolve settles into it, their tone quiet and tight, "... No. I can't go through with this anymore.", They swivel, running to you with quick strides, you feel the agony of your head splitting open, in between the haze you see more than react to the blade. Your blade held in your hands, twisted in such a way to sink into your flesh, blood beads onto your sleeve before Raven catches your arm in their hands, twisting towards the now alarmed heroes with panic on their face like a someone realizing they'd just went somewhere to die, "Listen! It's not safe here, specially NOT for them. I'm so sorry. Take them and get out through-"
That cat is there in a flash of darkness, it sinks it's claws into Raven's shoulder, the director crying out and letting go of your arm to try and get it off, leaving the dagger to slice deeply. You can see Time slam into a magically erected barrier around the stage as it's crimson eyes gleam with malice and satisfaction. The cat bites at the director's shoulder, tearing away the black ribbon holding the red gem they always wore. You hear Legend screaming and Hyrule casting a spell at the barrier, the shockwave palpable as it does not budge
You'll never know what they wanted to tell you all, though the flash of desperation, guilt and apologies will likely haunt your nightmares as their head fell off.
All of the lights go off.
And in a flash of thunder, you hear a sigh behind you. The barest tips of a clawed hand making your skin crawl with revulsion.
"Well... I'd like to say I'm surprised. But I'm really, really not that they didn't have the nerve to fully go through with it. Pity." That awful, awful voice is colored with disappointment while they pass you by, you think you feel the brush of a scaly tail around your legs and a blade at your throat. You try desperately to wrestle control back to your own body when you can't hear the Chain anymore. They stalk dance gently at your side, the rustle of cloth as someone bends down, the crystalline, padparascha crimson feather Raven always wore in their hair gleams in the dark with a melancholic light of their own, "Ah well, at least they did half the job I wanted them to and held onto what I needed. Still, just proves that if you want somebody gone that you just have to do it yourself."
You feel a feather light touch on your chin, tilting your head up, your heart freezes alongside your body as you lock gazes with the bloodstone empty gaze of a feathery mask, the figure in front of you wears a dark hood, caliginous and fleeting like the memories of a nightmare hanging onto your mind by it's very claw tips. It blends in perfectly with the darkness, liminal and just on the edge of the negative spaces of reality.
They smile with all of the sweetness of rotten things and arsenic and it makes you sick.
"Dear me... You are so, so pathetically helpless like this. I can take my time with you, can't I? To tear everything that makes you yourself piece.by.piece..." the touch tightens, nightlock claws sink into your skin and drawing blood, you feel like screaming but your mouth won't open, your body betrays you as you drown and drown and fall. It makes the thing behind you hiss out a laugh and you are certain you won't hear a more wretched sound in your life as they study you like a pinned butterfly, "How very precious, it fills me with joy, but really it's more disappointing and disgusting. It's almost enough to make me want to die!" The being in front of you snarls, all venom and the burning flames of a madman, before they calm, smiling a dagger sharp, hateful grin with a hum, "... Ah, whatever. Let's get this show on the road properly this time, shall we? You wait for your cue darling." They mockingly pat the snout of the Shadow in front of you, narrowingly dodging a snap of teeth with a cackle, before they disappear in a flurry of obsidian and ember feathers.
They clap, and the light returns to the theater. Their mismatched hands are spread, clawed and gloved and you see a cloak of black feathers laid over their entire body, the tip of dagger sharp, silver heels making them tower easily over the pool of blood from the director's severed neck.
"Good evening, blood red dogs of Hylia!-"
They barely finish their sentence before the boys move, arrows and magic set loose at the figure in a blur, the figure dances back, tsking as they appear on the chandelier now, lounging nonchantly and revealing your form at blade point from the Shadow, struggling to remove your dagger from your arm. You can almost feel their disapproving look as they cross their arms at the face of furious glares from the heroes of Hyrule, "Rude."
First does not look amused as he stays Sky's hand from unleashing a Skyward Strike, the other's eyes as frigid as the storm outside, "We are going to need you to let our companion go before any apologies are given I'm afraid."
"And I'll be needing you lot to stop snapping and growling like mutts before making any negotiations like that." The figure snaps back primly, a pot and tea cup appearing nearby, with a flick of their wrist two things appear on their hands as freshly brewed tea poured itself which makes a shiver fun down your side, alarm and panic gnawing at your skin and exposing your fragile heart with almost clinical curiosity as they toss it down.
A dark iris purple Minish Feather earring, and penumbra dark, torn fairy feathers, you think you still see the bits of wisps clinging to it like blood and the exact moment Four tenses, colors prismatic as they flash over his eyes and Hyrule freezes, Twilight sending them a concerned look, though his hand doesn't move from his sword.
The display is enough to keep your companions on guard, but not react, that thing atop the chandelier perfectly positioned to crush you without a second thought leisurely sipping tea. Before addressing the Chain below, "Now that I've successfully gotten your attention by indicating the extermination of vermin I've had to recently do, why don't we talk? I'm perfectly reasonable, I promise not to bite or anything, blood is quite the nuisance to clean off rhe stage after all."
"Very well," Time's voice cuts through the silence, composed even as his mind is running a mile per minute, "May we make some inquiries?"
Their lips curl in amusement, a slightly mocking edge to their relaxed lilt, "There we go, was being polite so hard? You may, one at a time though!" They look down at the Shadow, which hisses up at them, eyes focused on the heroes, the edges of it's existence flickering oddly, casting itself over walls and the now scorched wooden floor, "Don't want to agitate our friend here you know? Or else we'll have a sparrow singing very very soon." They sing song, you can feel Warriors cringe where he stands, but he's also the first one to jump to questioning at Time's slight nod.
"Why are you working with the Shadow?"
The figure shrugs, pouring themselves a second mug, "Why does anyone do anything? Complete and utter, sheer boredom is why. It had a good sales pitch won't lie, I haven't been bored since you lot decided to stay here."
You see the way Legend's eyes narrow, a scowl on his face and tone biting, itching to move, "What did you do to them?"
"You'll have to be more specific, if you mean your little friend here. Nothing really, they came up on the stage and used the knife themselves after all." The masked figured clucked, shrugging, "As for the rest, you can blame Raven. They lost their nerve when they shouldn't have and dragged the troupe down with them, when I gave them one job besides watching my theater, plus..." they sighed, placing Raven's feather by the thorns holding the mask grafted onro their face, clicking their clawed, bloody hand agaisnt the tea cup, uncaring when your blood mixes with the sugar cubes, "They also failed to do proper research, I mean doesn't help certain nasty little disgraces-" they growl pointedly at the Shadow at that, who snarls back, making a twisted duet of mutual, black loathing come to life, "Also made their job harder, but seriously. Even a braindead donkey could have done a bit more research."
"What do you mean? No need to insult Raven like that! They were nice." Blurted out Spirit, you can practically feel the poor dear itching to snap the whip to snatch you, Wind holding onto his an Cal's wrists like a vice so they wouldn't make any sudden moves, First tapping Calamity's back and looking at the hooded being's perch, making Calamity's eyes narrow and Sky slowly let go of the possible Skyward Strike, thankfully enough. Being crushed to death would not help your boys get out of here.
The hooded and masked figure twitched, head listing lazily to the side, unhurried, as if bored or maybe dissapointed as they sighed apathetically, it gave you gooseflesh, but you dared not move an inch, struggling against your own limbs and with the Shadow at your back, "I mean I was just taken by surprise. You know, I wouldn't have taken the heroes of Hyrule for liars and oath breakers, and also against the laws of hospitality. Shooting arrows and magic at your host within their own home? For shame! Didn't your parents teach you better?"
You could see how each of the heroes bristled, but seeing crimson beading against your unwilling, trapped skin stayed their blade, though that did not stop Legend from snarling up at the hidden figure, sipping tea as if it was watching an incredibly entertaining play, "Oath breakers? That's rich coming from you! Raven said we could stay here safely and then leave once the storm was over!"
"And you attacked one of our own first." Added Warriors, his tone as glacial as the winter winds, enough to freeze anyone down to the marrow.
They incline their head, voice distorted, the screaming echo of scavengers like nails on chalkboard and as refined as a well curated blade, "True, though neither they nor I never said you'd all leave unharmed, did we? And you didn't keep your end of the deal either." Their tone goes dryer, as they throw the tea cup away without a care in favor of throwing their hands up, as if it was the Chain being unreasonable and not the person who presumably did something to Shadow and Hyrule's own Shade, you can see Sky barely keeping his grip on an enraged Four, "Besides! I didn't attack them, they kindly volunteered to go up stage on their own. You're all so up in arms for something that's part of the performance, a little injury is a small price to pay for the bit."
"A 'little injury'?! I doubt they'd try cutting off their own hands for a BIT." Stressed Hyrule, snapping out of his shock, in response to that, the cloaked person shrugged.
"I mean a little disarment never killed anyone."
Wild looked seconds from firing another arrow, teeth gritted and bared as Twilight sent a furious glare to the one perched atop the stage, just above the lights, ready to knock them down and crush you if needed be, "I'm pretty sure it has, actually."
"Anyway! You're all so caught up on semantics, by the Three, so uptight. Does having the splinters so far up there not sting?" they glanced at the Shadow, the obsidian and granite lizalfos glancing back at them before hissing at Time, ready to lunge, teeth stained with Director Raven's blood, "This the kind of tough crowd you have to deal with? Yeesh, no wonder you yap more than a kicked dog at times." They turn back to the Chain, clapping their hands, "In any case, let's make another deal, shall we? I'm a playwright of my word after all. You could leave your little friend here to become one of my actors and go on your merry way." You swore you felt your heart stop, blood rushing in your ears, you barely caught the sharp glint of a hollow smile beneath the crow shaped mask and their next words, "Or! If you're really that attached-", they send you a bemused look, "Can't see why but hey," shrugging, they continue on, unrelenting like a hunting wolf, "You can act instead. I'll send you all into different tales and should you finish them in accordance to the script, I may let you just leave without too much of a fuss. No catches." They point to the Shadow, "Can't make any promises for that one though, it's a solo act you see, if anything I'm just lending the venue and he was lucky to rent first, the wretch."
"And if we refuse?" Probed Time, you could see the gears turning in his head like clockwork, trying to find a way to swing this in everyone's favor so you all can get out alive.
The vulture in crow skin only smiled wider, "Then none of us gets them and you die here, I'll let the Shadow tear you apart to it's void soul's delight, and kill them on the spot." The blades press against your arms against your will, and you twitch, trying to wrestle control back and only getting pain for you troubles, muffling a yell, "Maybe put them in a soup and make jewelry out of the bones that I don't reuse in a broth, I'd look pretty dashing in a crown." They giggle, unhinged cruelty into every word as they clap their hands, voice rising to a screeching crescendo, "Oh oh! Or just roll them down a barrel filled with spikes on a hill, or make them dance and dance and dance on hot iron shoes until they drop dead! Haven't decided yet, so many choices, so little time. It's almost enough to leave me hot and bothered." The true owner of the theater sighed, longingly hugging themselves before turning a cold, hard tone to the heroes, "You sure you want to risk that?"
Silence descends upon the theater like a widow's shroud, seems you're all at an impasse, you're unable to move and while you're certain your boys could overpower whatever that monstrosity is and deal with the Shadow, none of you could be sure they could do it before the Shadow slit your throat or that being (person? No, it felt too unnatural to be human.) Knocked the chandelier down or made good on their threat.
The masked unknown simply summoned themseles a second mug, pouring more tea, "Take your time to answer. I can wait. Though if you ask me the choice is extremely obvious, come on now, what's one more or one less for your little group? It's not like they're important to the narrative anyway-"
"No tricks?" Cut in First, you see the being twotch at the interruption.
"Rude. Seriously, does Hylia just likes to pick the feral ones and set them loose upon the world? Seems like bad business." They pause, then hum, "Then again, maybe not, I hear her incarnations can be quite unhinged. Quite the match made in hell, you lot then and those Demise decides to live rent free in huh? I almost feel bad now. Yikes, my condolences." They pluck a bouquet of camellias, roses and acacias from the inside of their cloak and throw it down to the Chain. You're not even surprised when Wild snags the fire rod from Legend and sets it aflame.
"Holding our friend hostage and talking about actively killing them doesn't inspire us to play nice." Gritted out Four. Grip tight onto his sword.
"If you feel bad then just let them go!" Gestured Wind from his side.
"Your criticism has been noted. I only don't concede because I can't see any reason why you'd want them around." The figure drawls back before answering First, "No tricks or catches or too much of a fuss, all you have to do is play along the script and play nice. Do that and in theory we shouldn't have much trouble. Maybe I'll even be nice and throw in one of those rewards like the places you all crawl through do on occasion, why not?" The Shadow roars at that, they snap down at it, "My theater, my rules! I'm bored okay? Let me spice things up!"
Time breathes, you can see the lonsdaleite persistence come back to the forefront, "Then we accept."
The figure stills, before shaking their head, they leap down from the chandelier, gliding across the stage with quick steps as the feeling of drowning recedes, the Shadow begrudgingly letting you go as you gasp, the figure snags your arm in one clawed hand, drags you to the edge of the stage, then kicks you off with a sigh, thankfully, Twilight and Warriors are there ro support you as they turn towards Time, tone blank as they extend that same clawed hand, "Way to pick the boring choice, but fine. I shouldn't expect much of a surprise I suppose." They shake hands, you feel the hum of magic settle into the air, twisted and wrong it almosy brings that drowning feeling back, water trying to pull you down as they grin and step back, opening a blank, black book, snagging the crystalline quill and using your blood as ink, they write, everything goes dark quickly as the Shadow snuffs out every light again as it dissolves, spreading ober every single nook and cranny of the open space.
You think they bare their teeth at you specifically before snapping the book shut, "Let me weave you a tale!"
Scene IIII End. Thus closes the Opening Act.
The Chain and the No Good, Terrible, Horrible, Very Bad Day (Magical Girl AU) - Chapter 5: In Which, Past and Present Collide
No one would have seen it coming.
It started off as a typical day in the city. Most were at school or at work. Pinky had taken the liberty of letting her professors know that she would not be attending that day. She had carefully put together her portfolio and submitted her resume to the job of her dreams. It was the day of her interview.
As she exited the building, nerves shot by the anticipation of a reply, people began screaming. Rumbles followed soon after- an upcoming attack.
Confused and unwilling to get caught in the crossfire, she starts running.
Behind the steady streaming swarm of people, the thunderous steps continue. There’s no telling where it’s coming from. Multuous shakes begin to rain upon the city, scattering the people left and right. It must be the one called Ghirahim.
Only, the monsters don’t come in hoards. Instead, it’s singular. And huge.
A massive tentacle crashed onto the street, crushing the pavement and cars. It knocks the girl and multiple others off of their feet. The tentacle wraps around Pinky’s leg.
She screams.
“Pinky!” She hears her brother call. She looks up and around but doesn’t catch sight of him. “Link?”
“Not today!” A voice yells, not too far from where the girl hangs upside down.
Wolfsbane lands on the tentacles, ripping into it without a second thought. The pain inflicted on the monster sends it reeling and it lets go. Wolfsbane dives, catching the girl and leaping to safety.
Her eyes are forced shut, holding onto the hero for dear life. She can feel his heart pounding just under his skin. He might have been as scared as she is. Wolfsbane sets her down gently but keeps her close in case she’s not so steady on her feet. “Are you hurt?”
Pinky gulps and looks up. A small gasp leaves her. She had never been so close to one of the heroes. Shirtlessness aside, he was quite handsome. It occurs to her after some time of staring that he had asked her a question. “Yes- yes. I’m… I’m fine. Thank you. You came just in time.”
Wolfsbane relaxes. If he spends a little longer than considered polite keeping his hands on her shoulders, neither of them mention it. “Good. I have to fight that thing. You need to get away and get as far as you can.”
“...Not home?”
“We don’t know where this thing plans on going.” He frowns. “It’s best to steer clear until everything gets cleared up.”
He turns, giving her a two finger salute. His eyes are soft. “Until we meet again.”
“...yeah…” She watches him leave in a daze. His phantom touch overrides her adrenaline rush. Looking beyond the rooftop he left her on, she can see the massive beast for what it was. It appeared to be some type of octopus. The minor earthquakes were caused by the tentacles it used to pull itself through the city. If she paid even more attention to the scene, she would see that all but one hero was in attendance.
Now she just had to find her way down and away from the fight. Just like Wolfsbane said.
On the other side of the battle, a new figure watches over the destruction. He is untouched and uncaring of the victims that fall beneath his newest creation. A civilian- frozen in the purple crystal stares back at him. His cries of frustration and rage are also frozen in time. His energy of despair was and continues to be great. The main reason that he was even able to conjure up a beast to wreak havoc.
The man takes a breath and smiles. The amount of negative energy grows and the fear and frustration grows with the attacks.
“What a beautiful sight…” He muses to himself.
He hears the monster scream.
Ganondorf growls and jumps along the building to see what dared to get in the way of his otherwise flawless plan.
When he gets there, unknowing that the victim he drained his power from has already been spotted and has been recruited to break the current curse.
What he sees does not please him.
Multiple strangers seemed to have banded together to destroy his monster, saving others from getting in the way and stalling the growth of the power he needs. It’s enough to make him sick.
“Up there!” One with the ears of a cowardly rabbit points up at him. “On the roof!”
“Fools.” He spits.
Their distraction is enough for his monster to take out another three of them and they resume the fight with it instead of him. They’re all so young. They have no control over their abilities. And when he sees what appears to be a shapeshifter and a multiplier crash and send sparks of ice and magic to confuse them both- they’re even worse as a team.
When the city depended only on one hero, it was better than this gaggle of unsupervised children. It’s enough to make him laugh.
And laugh he does. “Pitiful. Is this the legacy of the Fierce Protector?”
They halt in their tracks. The monster makes another opportune strike.
Suddenly, a shift in the air saps the magic from his grasp. His victim! It’s irritating, but perhaps this isn’t a failure of a mission afterall. Ganondorf looks back to the group below him.
The one with the ears and tail of a wolf leaps into the air and smashes his monster through the head, killing it in one vicious blow. It doesn’t explode as one would think. He dives in deep and roars with enough force to send his apparent teammates back.
His Ocotoroc screeches but Ganondorf has never been one for sentimental attachments. This was a learning round.
A green hooded one is quick to cast a spell and the city begins to right itself once more. Slowly, but Ganondorf can see that it will be as if his presence has never appeared. Interesting.
“Who are you?” One of the multiplied yells out. He’s clad in blue.
He huffs. “Who am I? Who are you?”
They share looks. Another one joins their ranks and Ganodnorf does a mental count. This new one has red wings and he carries his victim to the floor where she is wrapped instantaneously by one of the others and taken away from where he can’t see her. Shame. But there are others.
Ganondorf makes a note of it and stands to his full height. “My name is Ganondorf. And I am a sworn servant of the one called Demise. I plan to free him of his bonds and take the world as our own.”
“Another one.” The rabbit spits.
“I used to be the only.” He snarls back. “If it wasn’t for The Protector, I would have succeeded years ago. I wouldn’t have been imprisoned myself. I won’t make the same mistake again.”
“Keep his name out of your mouth!” The Wolf matches his tone with little difficulty.
The villain’s eyebrows furrow. “And where is this so-called Protector of yours? Did I scare him off?”
“He’s not here.” The shapeshifter crosses his arms. “And we won’t let you win.”
“We don’t know why you’ve chosen our city but as long as we’re here we will stop you!” One of the multiplied, the green one, yells back in what appears to be righteous fury.
He’s seen enough. Ganondorf snorts and steps away. “You are mere children compared to his might and glory and yet- I have reappeared. And he is gone.”
They all share looks with each other, unsure of how to answer his taunts.
Idiots. Ganondorf laughs again. What was giving Ghirahim and Vaati so much trouble? Their master’s return is imminent.
An arrow nicks him in the ear.
He ducks and snaps his head to the direction in which it came from. Another young hero steps away from the shadows. A similar hood covers him in a dull shade of gray. He has another arrow knocked within his bow. He looks ready to strike again.
Ganondorf isn’t willing to get hurt so easily on the battlefield. His victim is lost and his creature is dead. There are other days.
“I will have my success.” He grunts and charges off of the roof. The heroes all rush to act but he vanishes in thin air. They all fall silent and still.
The city around them continues to fix itself. The damage was more than any of them had anticipated. Had Phenix not found the victim as fast as he did, they would have had more work on their hands. A resounding beep status them all into the present through their earpieces.
“Guys.” Agent L also sounds unsure. “Come back to base. The Old Man has something to discuss with all of us.”
Wolfsbane growls, putting his hand to reply back. “How bad is it?”
A moment of silence.
“Do you really want to know?”
A few of the boys flinch. “That bad?”
“If fainting at the sight of the man is any indication, then we’re in for a wild ride.”
Many of them pale with fear. They share looks between themselves and slowly begin to inch away from the disintegrating form of the monster.
Jack makes a face. “Don’t tell me that’s going to stick around for longer than it usually would?”
“His magic can only do so much.” Phoenix motions to their hooded friend. “And it’s the biggest monster we’ve seen yet.”
“Do you think he was actually trying?” Avatar comes back into simply being one. “For a creature this big we took it down pretty fast.”
“Maybe we’re getting better.”
“We’re not.” Archer steps up, throwing his hood tighter over his head. He got the least disguised look of the bunch and he can already see reporters coming to the area where they all stand. “He was watching us the whole time. I think he’s going to study us until he can pick us off one by one.”
“He has a point.” Wolfsbane growls to the point of howling. Many of the team members cover their ears. “I can’t deal with the press right now. I’m heading back first.”
“I have to check on someone.” Archer storms away and fades into the shadow of the buildings. No one knows where he’s going but they have no way to get him to come either. Considering he almost gave away his position earlier when he screamed. They have a suspicion to where he’s going.
The others scatter.
Jack Rabbit and Apollo both sigh. They both frown at each other and turn to presses. “Who’s going to tell the Old Man that we were ditched?”
“Not me.”
“Great.”
okay here’s how you lasso cowboy!Eddie into finally giving in. he’s 40 in this btw (you’re whatever age you want above 18, obvi mdni) yes he has salt and pepper long hair tied back in a messy bun under his cowboy hat. NEXT QUESTION.
cw: older!cowboy!Eddie, u choose how much older, +18 mdni, foot kink I guess???
you’ve been a hired ranch hand for his place over the summer. he asks you to stay long past the rest of the crew’s leave date. still doesn’t make a move.
so here’s what you do. helping Eddie out in the barn one day, yelping at a piece of straw that stabs your finger as you’re moving hay bales.
you let Eddie baby you. he softens like butter in a hot mouth, pulling off your glove, cradling your hand to prod at the spot with calloused and gentle fingers.
“quit whinin’. it barely poked ya, sweetheart.” he’s gotta throw in a bit of gruffness to keep level-headed, because Eddie’s feeling suddenly warm under his leather vest.
you let it slide. wait patiently while he frees his bandanna from the back of his Levi’s, as he blots the spot of blood from your fingertip and tsks at you.
“you smell good, Eddie.” you’re not just flirting- he smells like wood smoke and sweat and earthy weed.
his fingers stall out halfway to dropping your hand, so now he’s just holding your wrist- tight. “careful, sweetheart.”
two words that have a devastating effect, your lips parting, thighs clenching involuntarily.
his eyes bore into yours, dark cinnamon from under the brim of his hat. Eddie lets your hand drop.
later. he’s out in his rocking chair on the wraparound porch. boots firm on the old wood flooring, heady weed smoke curling around the bandanna tied- the same black one from earlier. twined into the dark mane of his hair.
“nice chair, old man,” you tease, tiptoeing barefoot across the grass lawn towards him. in nothin’ but a silk nightie and a button-down red flannel of his- open. nipples peeking through the thin fabric.
“watch it, darlin’.”
that slow drawl again. he tips his head back against the chair, pointedly ignoring the scrape of your opposing chair, keeping his eyes fixed on the stars even when your feet work your way into his lap.
but something draws him in like a magnet. his left hand falls to rest on your ankle, thumb smoothing down the outside arch of your foot.
you slouch further against your armrests as Eddie digs a thumb into the muscle of your sole, purring low in your throat as he works into it.
your other foot trails up the seam of his jeans, and he hisses when you make contact with his clothed cock, filling out under each of your movements.
he doesn’t tell you to be careful, this time.
Congrats on your 2 year anniversary! As for a request, I really liked your dragon warriors post, could you do one about dragon time? Thanks you!
YES AND YES I WILL I WILL!!!!
Masterlist
Content under the cut!
You screamed and cowered in fear as the monsters closed in on you. You had ran away form the group when they were ambushed, not wanting to be caught up on the crossfire.
You regret your decision now.
You curl up into a ball and cover your head as they approach you.
You would have thought things like this would have only been in fairytales- but you were wrong. It's not like you wanted your life to end here though. Why hadn't you gone in a different direction!?
Suddenly, a thunderous roar shakes the very branches from the trees around you- one even falls over you, blocking your view of the no doubt monstrously huge dragon that crushes the monsters underneath its feet as it lands on them. The branch blocks a lot of the view you had but it's not as if you wish to see what was about to happen.
You look away, not wanting to see the carnage the dragon decimates onto those that wanted to harm you.
It doesn't last long.
Time calls for your name, a growl on his lips as he rushes for you, tearing the tree branch off of you with a single arm.
You look up and gasp- seeing him in his half dragon form. There's monster blood on his pants and sleeves but you elect to ignore it. His eyes are sharp and his fangs are bared in a snarl.
He drops to his knees and put his hands on your shoulders. "Are you hurt?"
You shudder. His voice sounds deeper in this form. You had forgotten about that. "I'm... I'm alright... thank you."
The faint smell of pine and musk wafts up to your nose before it's tinted with a stale after scent. It's... a bit off putting. But calming. Time seems to relax a little more, his tail swinging behind him. "Good.... Good... I was worried when you screamed."
"Sorry." You reply out of habit. "I panicked."
Time helps you stand very quickly wrapping his tail around you before you could get very far. "The monsters aren't fully disposed of yet. Stay close."
And stay close you will. It's not like you're strong enough to fight against the pure muscle of his tail to begin with.
Without warning, he picks you up and hoists you onto his back, settling you between his wings before he starts flying. You flinch, holding on tightly for dear life. "Time! A little warning!!"
"Sorry, my dear." He holds you close regardless. "I didn't want to take any chances."
You make the mistake of looking down as he speaks. Not only are you higher than you would have thought- but you see a multitude of monsters swarm the very clearing that Time took off from.
You hug Time tighter and wait until he lands.
He puts you down gently and kisses your forehead. "I'll be back. Stay here, stay low, stay quiet. This'll be over soon."
He growls again, and shifts into his full form in front of you. You'll never get over just how huge he really is- not will ever imagine what it would be like to have those club-like branches sticking out of his back and tail. He looks as if he would have been a woodland creature had his scales been less akin to marble.
He is breathtaking- but terrifying to be next to.
You gulp and sink to the ground, letting the tall grass hide you from the opposing forces against your group.
There are many sounds of monstrous battle - as the boys fight in their dragon forms as well- you know that the monsters don't stand a chance against them. They scream and wail and rage on- with their respective magics ringing through the air around you.
It's thundering in your ribcage- you can't ignore the way you gasp for breath despite your lack of physical activity.
You better start believing in fairytales.
You're in one.
This is something I wrote a while ago and was previously posted in a private server. The gist of it is if Player was basically a Lucario. That's it. That's the story. It's also written in the second person because my brain said to.
_______
In Which You Have Four Different Panic Attacks For The Same Reason
A search and maybe rescue mission, that's all this was. If only you knew how much more difficult it would be.
Four had headed into a dungeon alone some time ago, since it was his Hyrule and it would be best if he went in to check it out. You weren't sure why Time agreed to let him go on his own, but you supposed you shouldn't be too worried. As small as he was, he packed quite the punch.
But he had been gone for over six hours, dungeons took maybe two at most depending at what pace you set yourself at. But even then, it shouldn't take this long. So you were tasked to go look for him along with Wild.
You see, though your time with the Chain was short, you've proven yourself to be invaluable with your innate ability to track down any person or object. The Chain wasn't quite sure how you accomplished such a thing, but if they were to ask you where something or someone was, you'd almost be guaranteed to find it faster than any of them. You were a living compass, a pathfinder, the guiding North star. It definitely influenced the nickname they gave you, which was Compass.
They weren't wrong, but if only they knew how you truly achieved such a skill. Aura wasn't a power known to this world. It existed, yes, but the populace wasn't aware of the power it held and the concept that it could be used. It's a secret that you would rather keep to yourself, for the greed of men has killed many for power like this. Though perhaps you would one day tell it to your new friends. You knew they were good people at heart, despite what some might tell you.
Their auras were so unique, so distinct that it was no wonder that you were able to keep track of them so easily. Hell, you even managed to track down Wind who found himself on the other side of the Hebra Mountains. It was a good thing you did too, or else the poor boy would have likely froze to death. Time gave him a good scolding for it that day.
So that's why you were here. They figured if anyone could find Four, it would be you. You wouldn't lie, you were touched at how much faith they put in you for this. Though they were good natured, the world hadn't been as kind. It taught them not many could be trusted as that trust they gave had only hurt them in the end. So you swore you would do everything in your power to make their jobs and lives a little bit easier in whatever way you can.
You stepped into the dungeon, torch in hand and raised it high to give you some semblance of what you were looking at. Well, you could see fine, the torchlight was more for Wild, not that he knew that. Or anyone, for that matter.
The room was large, and the remnants of monsters hung in the air. Four had definitely been here, you could feel the lingering trails he left behind. You were wandering in, signaling Wild to follow. He nodded and trailed close, keeping watch for any leftover monsters or traps Four might have avoided or missed.
But then you stopped, staring blankly into space with your mouth slightly ajar.
You… you were feeling that, right?
You weren't crazy?
Because you swear that you could sense Four… in four different places.
Have you finally lost it? After all the adventure and becoming the fabled Guardian of Aura, is this really where you were going to dive off the deep end?
"-mpass. Compass! Hey!"
You snapped back into reality, blinking rapidly before locking eyes with Wild. He seemed worried, looking over you for any other problems.
"You zoned out worse than I do. Are you okay? Do we need to go back?" Wild had asked, glancing over you worriedly.
You shook your head. "No, it's just… I don't know how to put it into words."
Wild seemed to look in understanding. "Don't try too hard, it won't do you any good."
You nudge his arm with your elbow as a friendly gesture, smiling awkwardly. "Thanks, I appreciate the concern, but um… there is something wrong."
"What is it?"
"I don't know where he is."
Wild blinked. You didn't know where Four was? And you were quick to add.
"I mean, I know he's in here, I can feel it in my gut. But I can't tell where, my mind just gets fuzzy and it feels like I have a-" you groan and raise up your hands to rub your temples, "-headache."
Oh, great, you have a headache. That's definitely helping you and Wild right now. You groaned and buried your face in your hands, shaking your head.
"I'm sorry, I'm not being helpful," you said, looking over apologetically. "I don't know what's wrong…"
Wild shakes his head, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. "Don't be sorry, it might be the dungeon messing with you. I've seen it happen with the others sometimes."
You nodded and kept trekking on, determined to find Four despite the initial problems, so to speak. Wild didn't argue or protest, and simply stuck close to you as you walked the path deeper in. There weren't many traps, or monsters, it was a quiet journey to the end.
You perked up when you felt someone approach, turning to see the multi-colored tunic of a certain blacksmith. Sighing in relief, you and Wild jogged over to him, calling his name as he turned his attention toward the two of you.
"Wild? Compass? What are you two doing here?" Four had asked.
"You were gone for longer than expected, we got worried and came to look for you," you explained, nodding at him.
Wild hummed in agreement. "We got concerned when we entered and Compass couldn't seem to pick up on where you were."
Four's eyes widened a bit at that, looking over at you, who was rubbing your neck sheepishly. "Really? You couldn't find me?"
"It was really weird, I couldn't tell where you were," you admitted, "It's almost like… you were in multiple places at once? Oh, that sounds dumb, doesn't it?"
Unbeknownst to you, Four had paled just the slightest amount at the phrase, his eyes shifting through a specific set of colors before fading back to a soft honey brown. Though he was quick to shake it off at a moment's notice to avoid suspicion.
"That's odd, are you sure you're okay?" He asked, gingerly moving his hand up to adjust the green band on his forehead.
"I think I would be better if we left this dungeon. I'd like for this headache to not become a migraine," you answered, rolling the joints in your shoulders and neck. "I'm also guessing you made it to the end of the dungeon? Did you find anything worth your while?"
Four shrugged. "Just some rupees and an item or two. Nothing great but still useful."
Wild seemed content sitting back and letting you and Four speak, since he had other things on his mind. But decided to speak out, "We should head back, before the old man sends someone after us next."
You and Four nodded, motioning to head out of the dungeon from whence you came. Leaving you to think about what exactly happened, and you weren't going to let it go for a while.
Perhaps you could ask Wolfie for cuddles to get your mind off of it.
