Bearded vulture Desmond?

Considering bearded vulture can be seen in the Arabian Peninsula, putting Desmond in 12th century Levant would be fun. He’s usually just chilling, watching Altaïr doing his missions with the look of someone who is proud of the accomplishments of another person but keeping a respectable distance.

But in the eyes of the people who notice Desmond, they have another word for him…

A stalker.

To be more exact, many of the Assassins believe the vulture stalking Altaïr is some sort of ‘blessing’. A herald of death that has taken a liking to Altaïr.

A show of Altaïr’s skills as an Assassin.

It wasn’t exactly a bad thing and the vulture doesn’t try to do anything other than stare.

Of course, Kadar believes this because Altaïr is so cool, it’s only natural to have some kind of being (perhaps even mythical) looking over him.

Malik thinks the entire thing is stupid and the vulture probably liked following Altaïr because it knows Altaïr would leave bodies it can scavenge.

An Assassin from Egypt tells them about how Ancient Egyptians believe all vultures are female so there are whispers that the vulture may have been the reincarnation of Altaïr’s late mother, looking over her son in her current form.

Abbas capitalized on this and annoys Altaïr, telling him that the vulture is most probably some poor woman who made the mistake of falling in love with Altaïr and losing her life because of his ‘personality’. This is crueler if Desmond starts appearing to him after Adha’s death but the Brotherhood (and Abbas) doesn’t know that.

Altaïr just ignores all of these and even ignores the vulture.

It wasn’t doing anything and it wasn’t getting in the way of his missions so there was no reason to shoo it off.

Desmond, on the other hand, has a problem.

He cannot… for the life of him… understand human language.

No matter what he does, he just can’t.

He tried listening in to their conversations but he just can’t understand anything.

Sometimes, he hears names he remember like Altaïr, Kadar, Malik… Abbas.

But any other words?

Nope.

Then…

Altaïr was stabbed by Al Mualim for failing…

No.

Al Mualim said it was an illusion.

But how…

“You should really rest today. Just because that old geezer used the Apple to show you an illusion doesn’t mean you’re not tired. You still felt the pain of getting stabbed, you idiot, and that takes a lot on someone. But noooo. Not you. Of course, not you, you overachieving bastard.”

And who kept whispering to Altaïr’s ear this entire time!?

(aka: Desmond can’t understand human language when he turned into a vulture and Altaïr starts hearing Desmond’s thoughts after resisting the Apple’s control the first time. Why? Isu bs.)

Had a weird Hollow Knight-related dream a couple days ago, so I decided to draw a major scene I remembered from it dgsgshf

#hollow knight #little ghost #hk ghost #the knight #hk hornet #hornet #alright. as of writing these tags it's been a week since the original dream so! let's see what i remember dgsgsgf #i was playing a game. which was a sequel to hollow knight ((Not silksong though))#there was some new sort of divine infection in hallownest and hornet had asked ghost to investigate it. they ended the last one after all!#the red glowy spike gate thingy is what you jumped into to enter the 'infected' areas #though it actually led directly to a hub world type of place. which was kinda like an expanded base for the grimm troupe?#more like an entire lair instead of a camp. also some greek gods were there for some reason lmao. they had their own special rooms too #so sidenote but- new headcanon that there are grimm troupe members named ares athena artemis &... venus lmao. not aphrodite for some reason #also monomon was there?? i think??? except she was cooking????? she had a sidequest to deliver something to someone though i dunno hdgfhdgh #i remember going back to the grimm troupe lair a couple times throughout my 'playthrough'#anyway. the 'infection' this time around was more of a glitchy physical corruption thing? rather than a mind corruption.#though there were still aggressive enemies to fight. but i remember getting a map from cornifer early on and he was. probably infected #i think part of his body was covered in electricity or something? so he wasn't fully visible? but he was still acting normally #there was also a moth who was the seer but then later wasn't the seer (but was still the same moth) dghgdhf. i delivered stuff to her #that glowing white wall thing in the drawing was like a one-way gate. you could only cross it from the other side and ghost came from there #i guess things looped back up somehow i dunno ghdgfhgf #anyway. ghost's red eyes. those are significant! those happened while i was walking through a corridor. it had pools of shallow water #(shallow enough to just walk through) and also creatures that were lightseeds but red.the implication was that they were full of Blood lmao #and as i went along killing them--as one does--as i walked through the hall. they started turning the water red too #there was also narration about this as it was happening ashdgsf. specifically the narrator said the water turned red before it actually did #ghost's eyes slowly turned red too. but aside from that they were fine! since. they're the player character and the player is perfectly fin #BUT. when they encountered hornet again. she thought they were infected. and that she lost the only family she had left </3 #she didn't attack though. instead she just jumped into the red spike gate without a word. decided to try to fix everything herself #but eventually you'd encounter her again down below and she'd fight you. didn't actually get to that in the dream though #aand i'm out of tags </3 i wanted to talk about what i'd do to make this make more sense as an au or something now that i'm awake but. :c

#hollow knight #hollow knight oc #stuff i made tag #oc: flower pot #oc: treasure chest #our naming scheme for vessels is. actual vessels. things that contain other things #little bit of trivia: flower pot made it to queen's gardens by going through deepnest #and it met caprice along the way #she only eats freshly caught prey and flower pot smells like it's already dead so she let it go #treasure chest climbed up through basin and into palace grounds #it got its face broken by a husk sentry and would have died if it wasn't quickly found by said pirate crew #their leader is the earwig pirate we mentioned like once. still haven't named him whoops #they're both dubious little creatures up to no good. flower pot is just more refined in appearance #and true to its name treasure chest is a big fan of putting geo in its eye hole #holds them both gently like hamburgers

breaking news: local woman goes to the movie theater and somehow DOESN'T see the mario movie again for the millionth time? who IS she??????

#this APPEARS to be a non-mario related post but stick with me i'll bring it back around in the tags #instead i saw the japanese stage production of spirited away (subtitled) and it was absolutely lovely :) :) :)#i LOVE spirited away (makes me cry every time) and i LOVE theatre and to see how they translated so many incredible sights #from the movie to the stage was delightful #but let me tell you...the mario brainrot runs deep right now and my treacherous thoughts started taking me places #mario spirited away AU?? is that anything?? tragically separated bros fic where luigi is in the chihiro role and mario is in the haku role?#where mario saved his brother's life many years ago but lost his name and memories in the process and was corrupted by bowser's magic #and the experience was so traumatizing that luigi forgot about the other world they found together and has been told for years #that his brother simply drowned in the sewer saving him #and then as an adult luigi finds his way back into the world and has to serve bowser and fight the mushroom kingdom to survive #but at least he's being helped by a strange half-human creature who somehow knows his name without being told. at least there's that #I GOTTA PONDER ON THIS A LITTLE MORE BUT THERE IS SOMETHING HERE. Do you think that -in the inevitable MK vs. his friends confrontation- Mei will accidentally seriously hurt him with the Samadhi fire? 🤔

Since strong emotions can cause it to run haywire, and there is nothing that would make her more afraid than having to fight her best friend.

There is NO way that they are completely done with the Samadhi fire. (Unless she lost it?? Subodhi did say she 'once' wielded it. So not anymore???)

But yeah- I bet it would come back into play during the MK/Mei battle. Especially if LBD mistook MK‘s destiny for her own. (Since that one vision she showed made it look like MK was burning before the world exploded. And she wanted everything he ended up having; the staff, his own powers, the Samadhi fire -indirectly, and well, a new title that implies destruction on a reality shattering scale.)

My view is that post the Embrace Your Destiny special, they resealed the Samadhi Fire (unsure if Mei still has her piece with her or if they successfully resealed it into 3 rings this time). We at the very least know she doesn't have it in s4 (MK has to save her in 4x01, she's worried about losing her sword in 4x05 which she didn't need with the Samadhi Fire in EYD, the Subodhi quote you mentioned). But, I don't think Mei using the Samadhi Fire again is completely out of the question. There are things that have come back that I never expected to be acknowledged again (The 1x01 seal being the same as the 4x01 and 4x14 flower fruit mountain seal was a huge shocker for me).

So the Samadhi Fire coming back into play with the MK/Mei battle? That would work super well! Especially with the way characters tend to reach for power and endanger their loved ones. It's a huge risk to take again, but if they feel they don't have any other choice it's something we know they're willing to resort to.

#tbh I'm expecting LBD's visions to be recontextualized at some point #as well as like #what she needed MK for and her og plan to ''undo the memories of the world''#Now that the scroll of memory is a thang #And as far as I can tell the scroll is not a thang from jttw #meaning it's an lmk original #also meaning that MK is like. I’m like a girl but if a girl was agonising over the inherent tragedy of fossilised dinosaur nests. Ones that hadn’t even had the chance to set their eyes upon the open sun, only felt the warmth through their shells before the world was covered in dust. Those who had hatched earlier than their siblings, but were too small, young, and weak to leave the confines of the nest pits yet, excited to one day explore the world, before their futures were cruelly cut short. To the parents that lay down by their offspring, accepting of something that they might have been able to grasp in part but not in totality. In shell fragments and mineralised bones laying side by side beneath the layers of earth.
