How do we know tho, that she didn't need a br***? I don't know her. Maybe she wanted to lie out on her deck for a few weeks with a cold beer and a good book? It wasn't cool of JDM to speak for her, I get that, but you seem dead certain that she didn't want a vacation.

A lot of things can be true at once, but I am dead certain that 1) A vacation did not blow up the Caryl spinoff and 2) It was not Melissa's or Angela's fault.

The only "evidence" I can share is that contracts don't allow a lead actress or a showrunner to back out just because they don't want to do the show anymore. I trust my intel, but I'm afraid everyone else has to rely on their own judgment. Like I said before, it's just frustrating to see the reputations of two of the most professional people out there get tarnished thanks to others' misdoings.

Anyways, I really hope we get Melissa/Carol/Caryl news soon. My inbox is full of asks that are giving me flashbacks to last year and it's a lot...

Alright y'all listen up 👏

(spoilers ahead)

Carole and Tuesday is another show that had potential to be called really good objectively. But nOPE! The starting was great and how they portrayed our main two girls' journey with harsh reality checks left and right were really getting my hopes up. The songs are really freaking great too! Loved every single one of them.

Here's where it goes downhill. QUEER MISREPRESENTATION BUDDY! The only trans person in the show among the central characters, Mama, was shown to be just plainly selfish and ofc (SPOILER) they just kill her off at the end because she wasn't necessary to the story, one might say. They also did lesbians dirty by showing Gus's ex-wife to be the one at fault for their broken marriage (she admits so herself in the story) and then the whole Cybele drama. And not to mention, drag queens! They did the Mermaid Sisters real dirty man! They're just really really messed up in this area.

And most of it has to do with bad writing. Why? Because as the story starts to focus on the other characters surrounding Carole and Tuesday, everything starts to get puzzled and they fail to uncoil it at the end. The ending also felt very rushed. I believe giving the ending more time would've been better at solving all the conflicts they created. Some issues felt like they were just left alone after being somewhat dealt with after ONE encounter. One such example is Ezekiel the rapper from Earth (that diss track SLAPPED btw). And the whole political drama just......ends by the politician mum firing the election dude. And here's more dirt. They use Tuesday's mum as just a tool for politics who has no real power or authority. Just one damn "you're fired" phonecall at the end does NOT solve the problem here. And we don't get any explanation of her perspective as the mother of a runaway singer and an academic tool son; who is as bad a parent as Angela's Mama.

To top it all of, this show is SO American. Given that it's produced under Netflix, ofc it'd be like that. But...yk... It's not always the best..... strategy (?). They also tried to give us a feeling of a revolution at the end which is basically a failed attempt of making amends for what change they couldn't bring to the society of that universe which also deals with immigrant issues, systemic racism and police brutality.

I'm just really upset that the story gave me no way to empathize with Mama's character, I really wanted to forgive her and thought they would show us more perspective into her life as her own person. Also that there's so much bad stuff they showed us happening there that just automatically gets forgiven at the end at the cost of nothing. It's not easy to forgive just like that. The refugee crisis, and all other aspects of POC being mistreated should've been handled better. The queerness is not anything but only some visibility here. And I've already mentioned, misrepresented!

And finally, ANGELA, RODDY AND GUS DESERVE MORE APPRECIATION! I AM AN ANGELA SIMP💜

listen i am BISEXUAL, mariska has always looked incredible regardless of the hairstyle — HOWEVER, i do happen to love her with longer hair.

oof, well all the perps are disgusting (thats a given). so it depends, i HATE that one DA bucanon? or however tf his name is spelled, but you’re supposed to hate him…so? not sure if that works?

if its least faves that we were supposed to like, number one is kim greyleck. i was/am a huge casey novak stan so seeing her right after already made me biased but she was horrible with the victims. could not stand her.

as for current? the new guy. something with a v? he replaced kat which was a blow to me as a queer :/ i don’t find him likable at all and i’m kind of upset the show replaced a queer woman of color with him. idk! just me tho??

15. which character dresses the best?

i better not get shit on for this but—

every. single. outfit. that angela wheatley wore, i would rock in a HEARTBEAT. mama came in, blew up kathy, then brought it to the runway.

also liv’s coats??? idk if y’all can tell from the breakdowns but i’m so into the trench coats and blazers. 10/10.

17. all time favorite episode

with a show that has 500 episodes, there’s no way i’d be able to choose just one!

some faves (& why):

slaves (S1) - the psych evals. the minute i fell in love with each character…oof. from cragen’s break, to olivia’s breakdown, to munch’s callout, then monique and elliot?? so good. and this is when i really realized how much me and olivia are alike! so yep, a top contender for sure!!

night (S6) - again, love casey novak and when she got hurt we got to see a vulnerable side of a character who was pretty reassured and tough. plus mrs. potts, doc oc, AND rocket raccoon?? amazing

raw (S7) - this was just a really good plot twisty episode and shocked me the first time i saw it with it’s ending. tough to stomach as a jewish person, though.

blast (S7) - AS A MELINDA WARNER STAN, i have nothing more to say. what a queen 💅🏼

(can i say all of season 9????)

zebras (S10) - yes, for bensler, but also for gwen 🥺 i love carol kane so much ugh

perverted (S11) - all the bensler vibes but also a damn good episode.

(here’s where i confess that i’m catching up on svu i’ve missed and my knowledge of episodes is a little weak when it comes to seasons (11-21). i’ve just finished 16, 17, 18, so i’m catching up!! but apologies if ive missed a good episode!!)

“benson in trouble” (multiple seasons) - idk if i can call them favorites because that sounds wrong(?), but as a survivor i really find it cathartic to watch the episodes where olivia is in trouble (the william lewis arc, the townhouse incident, etc.). my therapist says it’s because i feel a sense of control and know what what’s about to happen, know that she will survive it and bc i see myself like her, i feel a sense of relief. tmi? ahhh

unholiest reunion (S17) - just a thrilling episode!!

heartfelt passages (S17) - dodds…. and tucker/liv!

gone baby gone (S19) - cmon, so good. but also i just love any and all scenes ever that we get of olivia being a mom

part 33 (S20) - very interesting introspect on the behind the scenes of the detectives. i really enjoyed this debate and honestly was captivated by their reactions.

the return of the prodigal son (S22) - i mean… i don’t need to explain this one.

(ALL of organized crime. no joke, i think i like it more than the current episodes of svu. i much prefer how they are writing their characters!!)

Guys, I need serious help. This is a cry for help.

I've only started watching TWD a few months ago because my boyfriend has been a STAN since the beginning of it. I am caught up on all the seasons now tho!!!! And I've been such a fucking CARYL shipper all the way from season 2. And I am absolutely losing my mind about the amount of time left until the 2nd part of S11 ?!?!?!?

My question is to all of you who have been Carylers for a much longer time: HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH IT???? Like, how do you deal with all the tension but nothing is ever clearly answered and there's no canon about it????

I'm severely mentally ill and this fucking ship has been my saving grace from offing myself (if you get what I mean). Which leads me to just...

AARGHHH. Not knowing if they'll actually canonically end up together or not. I know they're soulmates! But that isn't enough!!! I know the spin-off is coming, too! Which gives me hope. But please, someone reassure me Angela Kang is actually gonna make them a thing before that, I can't imagine TWD ending without giving us some closure about the two of them. I can't imagine how ungodly this has to be for people that have shipped them for YEARS!!!

Also thoughts on Donnie shippers saying Carol is like Daryl's mom?????? The actual fuck??? I need someone to talk to about all of this 😭😭😭

What if Daryl’s death is the fake out? Daryl has mourned Carol’s “death” more than once, doesn’t reusing that trope yet again reduce the show to basically eating itself? Has there ever been an is-he-dead moment for Daryl? The worst he’s been hurt was when Dwight shot him, and when Alpha stabbed him. (that arrow he took through the side was just a flesh wound). Why don’t you think it will be Daryl who “dies” in the finale?

It could very well be Daryl but I don’t want it to be personally. He has such obvious plot armor. With Carol I have just the slightest bit of worry..with Daryl I have none. I didn’t even feel slightly concerned when Alpha stabbed him because I knew he’d be fine.

There’s no l way I’d ever buy a fakeout death with him. I’m not sure many people would believe it. At least with Carol there would be a little “did they really?” to it. Because..truthfully while im pretty damn sure she’ll be fine but there’s... still some worry there deep down. (One minute I’m positive they won’t and then next I’m like...wait what if they are that stupid tho)

After all..I never in a million years thought they’d kill Carl. (I always said it would be one of the dumbest things they can do and..they did it lmao)

Also Carol has suffered so horribly this season. I think it’s Daryl’s turn. 😂

And they kinda did that with his stab wound from Alpha.

Yeah he did mourn her “death” at the prison all the way back in S3 but it didn’t give me the “Daryl completely breaking down because he thinks he just watched her die” thing I’m after.

Now after all these seasons? After how much closer they are now? It would 1000x more heart wrenching.

Also it seems like they’re building up that with Carol? It’ll be her “redemption” for the shit she’s done this season. And saving The Biggest Fan Fav (Daryl) would get her back into the good graces of the GA. Which god knows there’s been a huge wave of Carol hate this season.

Angela talks about how she feels she has things to make up for and that she’ll be “stepping up.”

Like I don’t know what the point of the whole “you’d go off and do what only you can do” and “I would never let that happen.” Would be if it wasn’t Carol doing the big sacrificial move.

And frankly I just wanna see Daryl break down and show just how much he loves her. We’ve never really gotten that before. We’ve never seen him see her “die.” And we’ve never seen him actually break over it. (I’m a sucker for gruff men crying and showing emotion when it comes to the their loved ones what can I say)

I also think that this will be a catalyst for them finally getting their shot together when they find each other again. Nothing puts things into perspective more than almost losing someone.

I’m a sucker for the “oh god I think I lost the love of my life .. wait no they’re alive!” trope so I certainly wouldn’t mind it personally. They’ve done it multiple times for plenty of characters.

But for some reason I just..don’t want it to be Daryl? That could just be me though. But only time will tell! Hell there might not be a fakeout death at all. 😂

on carol/caryl and why i trust angela kang

first and foremost, i think it should be noted that gimple handed over a complete clusterfuck to kang, and instead of following his shitstorm of a vision, she completely revamped and revived an almost dead show (lol walking dead, zombies, resurrection, #nice), so that alone should show that she’s up to snuff in terms of talent, but lemme tell you my feelings in regards to my girl, carol.

like most carylers, i was like, “ew, no, stop,” when it came to the carzekiel news, and was feeling really downtrodden about it, that is until the whole season came out, and i was able to look back and see how clear it was, from the very beginning, that the relationship was never supposed to be a real relationship.

let’s pick it apart, shall we?

the first thing that comes to mind is the fact that carol never once tells zeke she loves him, and tbh, barely shows more affection to him than she did to tobin, to whom she all but said, “yeah, no, the stuff between us was hella fake,” so that alone is enough for me to go -thinking emoji-.

but wait! there’s more! it is a theme throughout the whole season that carol 1. adamantly rejects the title of queen, and 2. hides aspects of her real self from zeke. she is always visibly annoyed whenever someone calls her queen, only saying it once to placate zeke after he had a no good, horrible, terrible, very bad day. (because she’s not a monster--she does care about zeke. she just doesn’t love him romantically)

my favorite part is #2, where kang sets the precedent real fast in the time skip that murder!carol is alive and well, when she straight up burns a bunch of saviors alive. also, the line, “the ring i could have gone without,” or whatever it was, could have easily been a throwaway line, except i’ve come to realize that kang doesn’t do throwaway lines. that was definitely on purpose.

massive lol, btw, at how everyone kept being like, “oh no, there might still be saviors out there! we gotta be careful!” and carol was just:

next, carol’s appearance! remember the uproar about her hair and how fucking atrocious it was? deliberate af. with how hard makeup and design went in on s9, there’s no way they would have fucked carol up that badly. and we /know/ they know how to make her look stunning and badass at the same time, bc look:

carol’s whole look up until henry dies made me go, “why does she look like some fairy tale queen who does nothing but sit in a castle all day?” and then i was like, “oh. duh.” because /that was the point/. she wasn’t supposed to look like herself, because she wasn’t living like herself, because she was living this escapist, fairy tale adventure. look at her in the “the storm”. waaaaay different look, because she’s finally herself again.

then, there’s just the straight up admission from carol that the whole thing wasn’t real. she literally says, “i’ll never regret the fairy tale.” it was never anything more than that. she had her kingdom, her king, and their son, and then she lost henry, and was forced to remember that, oh shit, running from my problems /never actually does shit/. and she promptly ends it, and goes back to daryl.

so yes, now relating it back to daryl. daryl is the only person alive on the planet who truly knows who carol is. she’s who she literally sneaks out of the house to go visit in the woods, just to be herself again for a while. he gets why she’s doing it, it’s why he never objected to her getting married in the first place. (even tho his face when she tells him zeke proposed was so laughably, “what? ew.”)

carol doesn’t show zeke her scars. he knows about the abuse, but he doesn’t /know/ about it. he doesn’t know that she lights people on fire in her downtime. he doesn’t know how far gone she really got. when she was losing her mind in her creepy little solitude house, smoking herself to death and making tally marks of how many people she’s murdered, zeke responded by giving her fruit. he doesn’t understand, and to that end, he doesn’t know she doesn’t believe in the fairy tale the way he does. he thinks it’s life, and she thinks it’s a place to hide. she tells daryl that zeke is an idealist. she doesn’t think he’s grounded in reality at all, but that’s why she sticks around, because reality fucking sucks, and plus she has a kid to take care of, but i think there is a marked difference in how carol acts around daryl vs. zeke. she looks so much more relaxed and open, and talks more flippantly and earnestly.

there is no one but daryl left that knows her. michonne is the second closest, and even she never spent all that much time with her. i think the only other person besides daryl that really gets how truly terrifying carol is would be rick, and even then, he’s kind of just afraid of her lmao.

so taking that and moving it into s10, i think what we’re getting set up for is carol finally (finally!) having to face her demons, and she is gonna be Mad Bonkers over it, and daryl, being the only one who understands, is gonna be the one who has to help her through that.

think about the s9 opening credits. i’ve said this before, but having melissa mcbride’s name over the crossbow, pike, and cherokee roses was hella foreshadowing to the fact that her fantasy was gonna break, and daryl was gonna be the one to pick her up, not zeke.

so we got carol going on a ptsd revenge rampage of insanity, and poor daryl is over here reeling from the fact that he suddenly has a daughter on top of the fact that his girl is finally single but is crazy crackers and trying to get herself killed, so of course he’s gonna be like, “you’re my best friend and definitely not the love of my life, haha, are you still hallucinating your dead children?” because they’re not at that point yet.

kang says they’re going to address daryl’s lack of love life. none of the cast members have said anything that negates the possibility of caryl (i would argue the contrary, tbh), and the trailer shows that the two of them are finally in this together again.

looking back at s9, every drop of carol’s story was symbolic and deliberate, and that makes me believe that we finally have a showrunner who knows how to tell a story, and knows how to read characters, and, most importantly, understands not only carol, but how she and daryl are intertwined and desperately important to one another.

i trust her. i have hope that, whether we get the naked pretzel by the end of the season or not, kang is not going to do our babies dirty like gimple did. she gets it.

we’ve been burned, but caryl is no longer in the hands of the person who burned us. i think that means that for once it’s not too out there to have a little hope.

I saw an article about a week ago by fansided that said Daryl and Carol will finally get together. It’s freaking me out. Help?

I answered this exact question in my FB group some time ago. I’m just gonna copy and paste, if that’s okay. Here it is:

“I don’t know how much of an essay you want, because I really could write one. :D I’m sure you know I think this person is interpreting the symbolism all wrong. I will say that they’re pretty savvy with recognizing the important symbolic beats of Carol’s arc this season, which most people—especially most Carylers—are simply not, but they’re also interpreting them in a way that will make them and their ship happy, rather than looking at how it’s been used previously in the show and figuring out what it ACTUALLY means.

And I get that people could say the same about us as Bethylers/TDers, but we always look at the precedent for the symbolism, rather than just jumping to conclusions about what anything means. Which is why we believe so strongly in Beth’s return: all the evidence points to it.

So, I’ll just mention one thing that jumped out at me to demonstrate how they’re interpreting it incorrectly. The whole acorn/��we’re lucky” bit. I did an acorn post when this first aired. I’ll link it below in case anyone needs it.

But here’s the thing. While I think it does portend romance for Daryl (Beth, not Carol) reading this article’s description of it did make me think of it in a slightly different way than I had before. Symbols often function on many levels, so it shouldn’t bother anyone. I could get behind the idea that, on some level, the acorn represents Daryl and Carol, but not in a romantic way.

And the thing that gives it away is the “luck” dialogue. I’ve been harping on the “luck” lines for years. They’re sprinkled all throughout the show, including around Beth at Grady. But she talked about luck to Edwards. So if we’re jumping to the conclusion that the two people involved in the conversation will turn out to be lovers, that means Beth and Edwards will be. Yeah, seriously doubt that. To give a more absurd example, I recently re-watched 7x08, and Rick and Aaron talk about luck in that episode. Are they about to be lovers too? Yeah, really not.

This is what I mean. You have to look at how they’ve used that dialogue or symbolism earlier to draw conclusions. Not just decide what you think it means.

Daryl and Carol ARE a lot alike. And I know many in our fandom don’t like to hear that because we love Daryl, but Carol makes such terrible decisions that make her difficult to even like. I hear ya, and agree. But they do have similar personality characteristics that are alike. They both tend toward negativity and self-destruction when they encounter grief. And that’s exactly why they wouldn’t make a good couple.

Daryl’s in a pretty healthy place right now, but if he and Carol were in a romantic place when both of them are at their darkest, it would seriously end in a murder/suicide pact. I’m really not trying to make light of anything. They just truly don’t know how to heal one another. They UNDERSTAND one another because they’re similar in this way, but that’s not the same thing. They both need more optimistic people (like Beth and Zeke) to balance them out. Any romantic relationship between them would be a disaster from start to finish. A concept completely lost on the Carylers.

So here’s what I think we’re heading toward—again, because of the symbolism we’ve seen this season. I’m convinced Zeke will get a death fake out soon. I think it will happen on his way back from meeting Stephanie’s group. They’ll probably run into a walker horde and Yumiko and Eugene will think Zeke has been eaten (him telling Yumiko to leave him behind if he falls foreshadowed this). Then they’ll return to tell Carol he’s dead.

Here’s the thing, the article is right about one thing: this past episode was a major turning point for Carol. For the first time since S4, we see her deciding on her own to return to TF and try to pick up the pieces. This wasn’t Daryl begging her or dragging her back. It wasn’t her feeling like she needed to go back because there was a war on. She had to make the decision 100% on her own and for herself, which she did. And while she’s got a long way to go for redemption, that’s a step in the right direction. But I firmly believe she returned to patch things up with Zeke and start over. (Spoilers actually somewhat confirm this.)

So what does that have to do with the acorn/luck thing? The luck symbolism actually foreshadows a death fake out. Beth saying it at Grady foreshadowed hers. She’s “lucky” because she’ll actually survive the situation. If you read my 7x08 post, the convo between Rick and Aaron foreshadowed Rick’s fake out, as well as Rick and Beth’s return after being taken captive by the helicopter people.

So, if the acorn represents Daryl and Carol, it’s because they’re about to become much more alike. Soon, Carol will know exactly how Daryl felt when he lost Beth, because she’ll lose Zeke in a similar way. They’ll both lose the person they love in the same way, and without being able to tell them how they truly felt.

(Even tho Carol was married to Zeke for so long, she left off with making him feel like their marriage is truly over. I think she went back to Alexandria to tell him she still loves him and wants to be with him, but she won’t get the chance before the fake out happens.) So, both Carol and Daryl will lose their significant others without getting any kind of closure. But they have “luck” on their side because they’ll both get them back. Eventually.

So yeah. Told you it’d be a bit of an essay. And this is just one point of one thing they said in the article. They really are interpreting it all incorrectly.

OR, you can just take the short version which is that Angela Kang already said on TTD that they aren’t going there (toward romance) with Daryl and Carol. Case closed. 😉 ”

So I watched "Carole and Tuesday" yesterday

And I've got feelings about it so let me scream them into the void for a bit

-Cybelle is a MAJOR creep! Yet frustratingly enough I can't help loving her as a character, her chara design is so nice, her name is very pleasing to hear pronounced, idk who her voice actress is but I love her voice and her song is really nice and gives me major Mylène Farmer vibes which make me happy and all I wish it that the pronunciation was a bit cleaner....but still she's a major creep, it makes for an interesting character tho

-I'm glad they hired what seems like native speakers for the songs but the mismatch between speaking and singing voice for some characters is a pity, like I legit thought there was gonna be a twist about Pyotr cheating with how deep his singing voice is compared to his regular voice...like I get when he speaks he purposefully speaks in a high pitched tone but still

-while we're at it OMG THE MISMATCH BETWEEN LIPS AND WORDS DURING THE SONGS MY GOD! For an anime that revolves around singing you'd think they'd want to put a bit more budget on that

-were we supposed to think Angela was attracted to Tao or something? I particularly got that feeling listening to "All I want" but like...no

-why do so many good songs have to be so short?! T.T Breaks my heart, I would've loved to have a full version of songs like "La ballade" or "All I want", 1 mins 30 s isn't enough even when listening it on loop 😭😭😭

-I like what they did with Angela's character, while they still kind of made her a typical mean girl there's a lot of boring tropes she could've fallen into but didn't
