wheezing I’m torn between going truly this is the best portrayal of Leonardo da Vinci we may ever get, and defending AC2 even though I’m a full time Ezio Saga Hater
#I’m a Desmond Era + Origins fan in a ride or die kind of way but the Ezio games suck ass compared to 1 and 3#however AC2 is miles above the European Era games and Odyssey butchers the use of Ezio’s theme so bad I will never forgive them#also Odyssey is legitimately bad. AC2’s biggest problem is that the story is narratively weak and holds it’s punches#I mostly hate the Ezio saga because the fandom was really fucking racist (still is!) and it could’ve been good!!!#but I have a deep seated fondness for the parts of it that were good. the game after all is still asking you to live even when it’s hard#the opening and the music are unparalleled and legendary. I just wish it kept that up throughout the story instead of#trying for a wider appeal but the story fucks up it’s own themes and bc the simplicity of it’s assassin/templar line up is baffling#there is also an AC2 that exists in my head that takes place in Venice lmao but that’s much more spy thriller#also did anyone here read the novelizations. Ezio and Machiavelli are so fucking married. 10/10 no notes#Ascanio is also mentioned in the brotherhood novelization iirc so. we stay winning!!

#that's a trick question. all true diana britneyshakespeare fans know i don't consider your input on any matter whatsoever#tales from diana#as ive made quite a lot this summer out of reading all my old plays ive had for awhile#cracking open books ive had for years for the first time#ive decided that this week i shall breathe existence into avant garde drama: a casebook (1976) which i mustve bought at savers...#probably before the pandemic to be honest#for no particular reason im gonna start w yury olesha (his name anglicized here as yurii olyesha)'s 'the conspiracy of feelings'#i do like that title a lot#it's in the middle of the book#you know i'm very grateful to have basically no life again. for only the fact that it's allowed me to get a lot more reading done#i remember a few years ago when i started to emerge from my reclusion being like 'i havent finished a book in months'#not a problem anymore#but ive mainly been reading plays lately. but thats good bc ive always preferred plays over novels#i dont know (and i confess this shamefully) if ive ever read a play originally written in russian before#another book ive had for years that i bought at savers but still have yet to open is masterpieces of the russian drama vol. 1 (1961)#maybe ill have to open that one when im done w olyesha

not to drag the vibe down but with all the drama with the original novel writers i am worried that there won't be a S2 (I think that 'news' from Apo isn't really news just a general 'everyone is talking' type of statement). on the one hand i feel like Kinn and Porsche are sort of reaching the end of their story? like they are one mystery away from being happy together. but Vegas and Pete have got so much delicious drama to work through and (spoiler)
they are about to have a son and that shit is going to be compellllinnggggggggggg i need to see every second of it!!!

Excellent news! The next chapter I am writing of my graphic novel features three characters who are based on famous actors - and I just found out EACH OF THEM HAVE THEIR OWN EPISODE OF THE CLASSIC MUPPET SHOW! As character research goes, this is such a treat! These chapters are gonna be so fun and silly!
(Also, it turns out Lynda Carter did an episode on this show!!!! Which is so wild to me because I think of her as solely a modern celebrity, since I learned about her from her tumblr. But it turns out that linear time is a thing, and so there she is in the 70s as well! Right in between Christopher Reeve and Carol Channing!!! @reallyndacarter just in case you see this, that is so cool!!!)
#original#the three actors the characters are based on are Vincent Price and Pearl Bailey and Carol Channing#who were all a generation or two older than Ms. Carter and are unfortunately deceased#but I hope that if their fans or families see my graphic novel then they also see these characters as the loving homages i intend them to be#one of the the core concepts of the Vincent Price character was to create a character he would have absolutely loved to play#which is not hard for me since he and I seem to have been born with the same brand of being a big theatrical ham#so when in doubt I just write a character I would love to play and recall how much Vincent's comedy makes me giggle like a child#the muppet show#the muppets#jim henson#Pearl Bailey#Vincent Price#Carol Channing#straight up I am not that familiar with Ms. Carter's work but she seems really cool and nice#and dang! she is in the same show as all these legends! maybe she is a legend too and I just didn't know it yet! ;)

i swear to god, jgy being bitchy/prickly as a proof that he's finally opened up to someone is possibly my most disliked fandom treatment of him, because with obvious jgy haters at least I know we have exactly nothing to talk about! aaaaand block! but then people who claim to love him just make him into a total opposite of who he was in the novel and it's just like. sigh
#practically every time i bitch about it i bring up the fact that Yes the perspective of being able to be your worst self with no fear that#the person who sees that will hate you and book it is seductive and heady#but its never about that. or rather: when you read the novel you get the feel that jgy is wearing a smiling mask almost#constantly and it would be nice for him to not have to do that. but often fanworks lack that element and jgy is just a bitch#i mean yes sometimes you get a vague mention of difficult work! or some vague idea of a backstory that hints at jgy being a bitch#because he got hurt in the past and its his armor. and thats nice but its not jin guangyao. whose whole thing in canon was that he was#ALWAYS polite. i guess most fans picture a smile that you can See is fake and murderous but its not the case in the novel at all#and even if there really IS a setting where jgy can let himself be a bitch in front of his partner... it's just. so annoying#like jgy isn't a person but a little chihuahua throwing a little fit hihihi! how funny! have we mentioned he's so short?#I haven't found a fic where jgy genuinely can complain about his work/family/whatever troubles him and the other person reacts in a way#that would be a satisfying and appropriate emotional reaction for him (idk how to put it but for example when i need to vent i also need#the person im venting to to agree that yeah this is shitty/bullshit! which is why i dont really vent to people anymore lol)#it always has this comical undertone and it feels so wrong 4 me#on top of that this bitchy little a-yao is so popular that people dont even think twice about it. just like nmj who's so warm and loving#not to mention endlessly queer and supportive that people forget the original flavour (to borrow the sv term lol)#and again i do understand! one of my past otps was very Quirky and over the top (thats anime 4 u) and i soaked up the rare moments when#they were just people with complex feelings like a fucking sponge. then my fic was all about the complex feelings without any of the#quirkiness because i was tired of its abundance in canon. but in a way because of this they were a complete 180 from their canon selves#so like. i guess i understand. but what i dont understand is that this assumes thay jgy's smiles and kindness are ALL a front and that the#bitch (or gremlin! he and wwx are ~gremlin friends~ uh huh) is the True Self. and i mean. w h a t#people got So hooked up on short bitchy customer service employee forced to hide his oceans of snark behind a smile so fake its cracking at#the edges thay they forgot about the man who would do everything for people he loved + enjoyed making them happy and comfortable#and was kind to his subordinates. there's nothing of that dude in popular fics and im not even sure if authors know he existed#the closest we have is him trying to be the favourite uncle/satisfy his in-laws first/show off which just seems so shallow lmao#and its like Oh God#i know 'these are all fictional characters eli' but ashfhfkflsahfjsgod#shut up shrimp
