A collaboration with @ego-osbourne for @metallic-scaled-scarf! Ego did the lineart and I did the coloring! For those who don’t know, this is Nonvul and his dragon, Krotumir.

Heyo, it's been a while, but I've added onto the Dragon Priest!Chrysanthe AU— where @99corentine 's lovely ldb Chrysanthe is a reincarnated Dragon Priest.
It's back, but, with a twist! This is actually the product of an AU of the AU ( thanks to @tomatotimes ), where Nonvul manages to survive his ( quite gruesome ) injuries because Miraak escapes Apocrypha and saves him ( and Krotumir, too. )
The lyrics are from the song “Landfill” by Daughter, and it honestly fits their situation so, so well.
Tomato theorized that there would be VERY HIGH tensions between these two Dovahkiin after Nonvul wakes up, since there's their inherent soulmated-ness mixed with the pure hatred Nonvul definitely feels towards Miraak because he betrayed the Dragon Cult.
We spoke at length about it— and it somehow manages to be more angsty than the original AU. Tomato has done a few sketches about this idea, and I have this artwork here, but it sounds like something fun to explore. One would then wonder,.. what happens to Chrysanthe, if Nonvul survives?
I hope you like it as much as I do!

How to begin a rebellion (but your crush is too much committed into a cult)
It was a project I began in April. April. But since I was in school I couldn't be entirely focused on it. Though I'm happy I waited a bit, I progressed a bit in terms of facial expressions.
An idea of mine, from the AU created by @metallic-scaled-scarf , based on the GOL HAH DOV fanfic of @99corentine , where I imagined Miraak and Nonvul having a discussion (or rather, Miraak attempting to make Nonvul join his side very carefully).
Also, a detail I've seen in many medias : when a character is saying something with their eyes hidden but their mouth, it's mostly because they're not telling the truth. On the contrary, when you only see the eyes, it's when they're sincere, weither for good reasons or not. The mouth deceives but the eyes are windows to the soul.
And last but not least : if armor sexy, why that hard to draw.
I'll add a close up right away

So the fact that in @metallic-scaled-scarf dragon priest au Nonvul is actually significantly shorter than Miraak because he's a Chimer is really funny which led to this being created I'm not sorry

@99corentine some middle of class GHD drawings I did for no reason in particular other than the fic has been on my mind all day. They aren't all that good but I hope you enjoy! 💙
I wasn't able to get tumblr to post them in the correct direction but I did my best
We have a shitty Chrysanthe drawing where he has a huge chin and a goofy look on his face with @metallic-scaled-scarf Nonvul dovahzul next to it.
Close ups under here 👇🏻
Miraak's eye is the one I like the most.

The Thief and the Dragon
“Seven thousand steps up here. You’d think they’d have at least offered us a drink,” Brynjolf huffed as he watched the great oaken doors close.
Raina laughed softly as she adjusted her cloak and started off across the courtyard. “Consider yourself lucky. I’m honestly surprised they let you in at all.”
“I’d like to have seen them stop me.”
“They’d have probably shouted you off the side of the mountain.”
“Good point.” He glanced back at ancient monastery. “I’d have thought they’d at least have given you a warmer welcome, though.”
“It’s just their way. They’re not that bad, honestly.”
“If you say so, lass.”
“It’s not like we came to see them anyway.”
“True.” He turned his gaze to the snow-covered crags still ahead of them. “You still think this is a good idea?”
“It’ll be fine, love. I promise.” She grinned. “Of course...he may just eat you.”
His retort was lost as she faced the path ahead of them and strange words erupted from her mouth in a voice that was not quite hers. Instantly the path, which had been swirling with snow, cleared and the wind calmed and died away.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to that,” He murmured.
“Stay close. I’ll probably have to do it again.”
Raina had to clear their path twice more as they made their way steadily upwards. Once, as the thick, churning snow disappeared, Brynjolf saw all of Skyrim laid out far below them. He decided to keep his eyes on something closer. A pity the most beautiful view on the mountain is covered in a cloak.
Just as Brynjolf was beginning to think the mountain went on forever, the wind and snow died away on their own. They skirted a massive boulder and came out into a clearing void of anything but more snow and a stone wall etched with ancient dragon symbols.
“How in the world did they manage to get one of those up here?” He shook his head. “Nevermind. I probably don’t want…to...”
He trailed off as he was hit with the overpowering sensation of eyes upon him. He couldn’t help reaching for the pair of ebony daggers in his belt. He stopped as he saw Raina watching him, amused.
Brynjolf stared in awe as what he had first ignored as a pile of boulders moved. A great horned head rose up a moment before massive golden-tan wings unfurled to their full span. Powerful talons gripped stone and a bladed tail scored the snow a second before the dragon took flight.
“By the Eight.” Brynjolf managed as he watched the dragon soar up into the sky. A second later he was speechless again as the ancient creature landed beside the crumbling wall of words.
“Paarthurnax.” Raina said, her voice once again deeper and ethereal.
“Dovahkiin.”The dragon sounded surprisingly as Brynjolf had imagined, deep and rough but yet somehow kind.”Dii fahdon.”
Brynjolf watched, fascinated, as Raina and Paarthurnax conversed in dragon-tongue. All she had told him on the journey to the mountain had not prepared him for actually standing in the presence of a millenniums-old dragon. It seemed impossible that the woman before him, his love, shared blood with such mythic creatures. Yet time and again, she had proven it to be true.
“And this?” Two golden eyes were now upon him. Brynjolf froze as fangs the size of swords were suddenly inches from his face. “Ah...hin ahmul, yes?”
“Yes. Brynjolf.”
Silence reigned for several minutes as Paarthurnax seemed to consider him.
“Hmm. Tafiir. And yet…nonvul. An interesting balance.”
Finally, a low rumble sounded in the dragon’s throat. Brynjolf decided it didn’t sound threatening but also didn’t sound entirely pleased.
“He is bahlaan?”
Raina smiled. “Very.”
“Pruzah.” Paarthurnax turned back to Brynjolf. “You will treat her well, tafiir nonvul, or I will come down from my strunmah and make ash of your bones.”
“I...”
The entire mountain seemed to shake as the dragon spread his great wings and laughed. Raina, too, was laughing as she took Brynjolf’s hand, then kissed him.
“You’re doing fine. If he didn’t like you he probably really would have eaten you,” She whispered.
“That’s comforting.”
“There’s someone else for you to meet,” Raina said as Paarthurnax settled himself again. She undid her cloak, then reached into the sling settled around her shoulders.
Brynjolf could not help the stab of fear as he watched the massive horned and fanged head bowed low to inspect the tiny sleeping infant. His son. His perfect, beautiful son with his hair and Raina’s eyes.
“Kiirsedovah.” Paarthurnax’s voice was low and reverent.
“Faraan,” Raina said. “My...our greatest treasure.”
Hearing his name, the boy woke. Had Brynjolf woken to find a huge scaly head in front of him he probably would have reacted far differently. He watched his son calmly stare up at the ancient dragon. A chubby hand reached out and patted the rough snout.
Another rumble issued from the dragon, a very pleased sound. “Faraan.”

A continuation of my Dragon Priest artworks, we have, well, this!
This is Nonvul, my favorite Dragon Priest character I have (and, an adaptation/au of @99corentine 's Chrysanthe). After he died, the people he had protected emerged from their hiding place to find his body. The woman shown holding him is Felerid, his closest and only surviving Acolyte. She evacuated and protected a large majority of their city's citizens, but as consequence she wasn't able to fight alongside Nonvul.
Yeesh, sorry about the tag-spam, Corentine! This is the, what, 6th tag from me since you've dipped from Tumblr? Yeaaaaaaahhh sorry bout that—

I’ll bite! Tell me about your Dragon Cult headcanons :0
Okay! Dear God, let me go find my notes spread over like ten different documents (exaggeration)!
Alright, so starting off, I'm going to throw in a disclaimer that this is lore built off of Metallic and Liches' works and headcanons all given a new coat of varnish as I scoot my plagiarism ray out of frame. I'm going to throw it under a read more for clarity and the sake of everyone.
TW for manipulation, cults, mutilation (non-graphic)
Starting with the ancient hierarchy, I have it go somewhere like: Alduin > High Ranking Dovah > Konahriik > High Rank Dov's Ruling Priest > Low Ranking Dovah > Their Ruling Priest > Wooden Masks > Acolytes (unmasked) > Divines Clergy > Everyone Else. Technically Akatosh/Bormahu was supposed to be/was advertised as the top of that chain, but that didn't work out so much in practice.
Within the cult itself were a few key customs. Let's start with the masked priests.
Dov have one masked priest each to handle the politics and mortal affairs of their Junaar (kingdom). These masks are made of precious metal or material and can be made custom to the specifications of the dov who requires them. There is one Masked Priest per dovah who earns one, and that internal hierarchy amongst the dragons means that your status and what you are in charge of may change very frequently depending on your dragon's social standing.
It is a great honor and a great burden to be chosen for the role of a Named Masked priest. Masked priests are given names by their dovah, usually approved by Alduin, in a naming ceremony that erases their mortal name from living and recorded memory. Only the dov bestowing the new name may remember the old, and to keep a copy of the name in physical form is considered a great insult.
In preparation for a naming ceremony, priests are usually imbued with "blessings" by being carved with (or even forced themselves to carve) Words of Power into their skin, which are then imbued with power and bound to the priest-to-be's soul by their dovah. These enchantments are binding to the soul in a way that can either slightly shift their personality to favor the nature of the word or can make them a completely different person, at their dovahthuri's discretion. These blessings are extremely hard to sunder and cannot be harmed by the person they are upon unless directly ordered by their dovah or Alduin. (Most of the carving part of the headcanon was pioneered by @metallic-scaled-scarf with Nonvul, go check them out)
Under the Masked priest within their own Junaar was usually a group of attendants ranging in number from about 3-5. They are the Wooden Priests, wearing wooden masks in the style of their Priest, symbolizing their un-named and un-blessed status. They were not allowed to speak, but were usually able to communicate telepathically as a sort of hivemind while still maintaining most of their original personality. Masked Priests were always chosen from their predecessor's pool of Wooden Priests, so there was a long-term competitive nature usually fostered within their little group. Any Clergy below the Masked and Wooden Priests went without a facial covering and could communicate freely. When converging in Bromjunaar for moots, the Masked Named priests would trade their masks for wooden ones to hear the words of Konahriik, as both a gesture symbolizing equality as well as silence before the words of the Mouthpiece of Alduin.
In global politics, mer were much more unlikely to ever make it to the rank of Masked Priest, with the Falmer treated as slaves and prisoners of conquest while the Ayleids and Chimer were treated as highly tenuous allies at best. Dragons did not usually care for their priests so much as use them as tools of communication and politick. A Masked Priest was very regularly simply a new game of chess to start with the other Dov as one would vie for another's power, land, or status.
As for individual Headcanons, or how I write my dragon priests, I will make another post in the near future.

I'm aware that the wave of fanarts is considerable these times, so allow me to bring one as well.
A fanart of Nonvul (or what if Chrysanthe were a Dragon Priest at the Merethic Era) on which I had a lot of fun. The staff was very complicated to make, but the results were worth it. And who doesn't like a grumpy Nonvul/Chry ?
The character belongs to @99corentine and the AU interpretation is from @metallic-scaled-scarf, this fanart is their birthday gift <3
