I'm wondering, are there any sports manga that feature ojisans?
This has set in my box for a while along with several others, but I said I'm going to get back to maintaining this and I will.
Anyway, if you look into sports manga you have a good chance of finding ojisans. While sports manga normally focuses on youths typically an ojisan will be a coach, commentator, or even a legendary athlete.
Some noticeable examples that I have included
Tumblr media
Kataoka Tesshin from Ace of Diamond
In Kuroko's Basketball four coaches and one other character are ojisans. (I also haven't added all of them). They are
Tumblr media
Kagetora Aida
Tumblr media
Genta Takeuchi
Tumblr media
Masaaki Nakatani
Tumblr media
Katsunori Harasawa
Tumblr media
Eiji Shirogane
The rugby anime All Out!! has
Tumblr media
Komori Shingo
Tumblr media
Yoshida Satoshi
Tumblr media
Nanjiro Echizen from Prince of Tennis
Harlem Beat
Haikyuu!! also has a lot of ojisans in the form of coaches and retired players. So many in fact these are just a few noticeable ones
Tumblr media
Ikkei Ukai
Tumblr media
Fuki Hibarida
Tumblr media
Tanji Washijo
Tumblr media
Nobuteru Irihata
Tumblr media
Takuro Oiwake
Tumblr media
Tatsumi Osado
And those are at least in series I know. I'm aware of a few other sports series. Namely boxing ones:
Hajime no Ippo
Megalobox
And there are some other ones as well that I can't fully remember that might have ojisans at some point in them.
But I hope this answer is decent. Serious apologies about how long it took to answer

The Count of Aoba Johsai: Chapter 1
Cast-Ch. 2
Warnings: Fighting, jealousy
Tumblr media
*ping!* Kunimi ducked as he dove to hide behind a rock, sand and gravel being shot into the air as the bullet struck the ground beside him. Loading his pistol he waited for a brief pause in the turmoil before peaking out from behind the rock and shooting.
“I told you this was a BAD IDEA! Did you listen?! NO!” Kunimi ducked again as he laughed at his good friend, Kenjirou Shirabu’s exclamation. “To be completely fair-“ Kunimi again stuck his head out from behind the big rock, shooting at the enemy before returning to his place beside his friend. “Do I ever?”
Kunimi sent his friend a grin as he reloaded his gun, Shirabu in turn only chuckled before he rolled his eyes, “No. I should’ve known you’d get me killed one day, might as well be today.” Kunimi laughed, “Well, I’m not ready to die, so you’re going to have to wait a bit longer my friend.”
Before we further explore what lead to the greatest revenge story known to man, perhaps first we should know the cast: The main character of this story, Akira Kunimi; Second mate of a French Merchant ship, is currently hiding behind a large rock on the forbidden island of Karasuno. Huddled beside him is his closest friend and a representative of said French Merchant company; Kenjirou Shirabu.
“Hold your fire.” The shooting stopped, and the two men’s eyes widened at the deep voice commanding the cease fire. “You two behind the rock; come out. We will not shoot so long as you come peacefully. Resist, and we will not hesitate to kill you.”
Giving each other a look, Kunimi shrugged and stood up, his counterpart following him shortly after. Stepping out from behind the boulder Kunimi and Shirabu became face to face with the infamous Wakatoshi Ushijima; who was once a respected and feared military leader- or at least he was before the allied forces of Austria, Russia and Prussia won the battle and he was exiled to the island of Karasuno.
“State your business for coming here.” Ignoring the dread creeping up his spine, Kunimi gulped and stepped forward. “I’m Akira Kunimi, I’m second mate of the ship docked here, my friend and I are here seeking help for our captain as he’s ill and I fear he won’t last the night.”
Ushijima’s stoic expression remained on his face before he turned around. “Follow me. I’ll lend you the services of my physician for your sickly captain, but in return...” The renowned man turned briefly to face the young men, eyes flitting over them before settling on Kunimi, “We can discuss it after your captain is beyond deaths door...come along.”
Kunimi and Shirabu looked at each other before shrugging and following behind the tall man. After their captain had received the necessary medical attention, the crew began settling down for the night, deciding to set sail for Marseilles the following morning.
Kunimi was about to head to his cabin when Ushijima himself stopped him, “Young man, Akira, yes?” Kunimi turned around to see Ushijima making his way towards him. Kunimi nodded, “Yes sir.”
Ushijima gestured for Kunimi to follow him. Walking a fair distance away from the ship he stopped, and turned to face Kunimi. “I offered you safety and the use of my physician as I’m sure you are aware, I don’t have much on this island. Giving you the use of my limited resources for free was generous, no?” Kunimi slowly nodded, “It was, and we are extremely grateful to you...but we are a small shipping company, I’m not sure we can afford to repay you-”
A small smile made its way to Ushijima’s face, the young sailor was honest- which made him feel a tad bit guilty for tricking the young lad, but it was hardly the worst thing he had done.
“I am not asking for financial payment, rather...I am asking you for a small favor.” Reaching into his coat pocket Ushijima pulled out a letter. “Give this to a man by the name of Colonel Tanji Washijo when you return to Marseilles, it is imperative he receives the information incased in this envelope. I trust you will get it to him?”
Kunimi nodded as he took the envelope, slipping it into the pocket of his own coat. “I’ll do it as soon as I am able- although I do have a few affairs of my own I’d like to settle before I can give it to him...” Ushijima nodded as he started his journey towards his home on the island.
“As long as it gets there I don’t care, have a safe journey young man.” Kunimi nodded, gave a small smile and walked back towards the ship, uncaring about the information held inside the letter he carried.
The same could not be said for the young Shirabu who had- ashamedly more so out of jealousy rather than curiosity- followed the pair to eavesdrop. Returning to the ship Kunimi was instantly bombarded by the ship’s First Mate, Shigeru Yahaba.
“First, you ignore my direct orders not to go to this island, then you go and disappear?! Have you no respect for the chain of command?!” Kunimi scowled.
When their captain had been dancing on the line of life and death the First mate and Second mate had a bit of a disagreement. Yahaba wanted to get back to Marseilles, while Kunimi wanted to stop at the forbidden island of Karasuno, believing it to be the best chance they had at saving their captain.
“I had something to take care of. Now, if you’d please move? I’m quite exhausted from doing the job that was assigned to you all day. Have a good night.” Kunimi walked back to his cabin, ignoring the fuming first mate he had left behind him.
Once dawn broke the crew made their way back towards their original destination; Marseilles France. Docking the ship, Kunimi was working on unloading cargo when he was called by Nobuteru Irihata; the owner of the company Kunimi works for.
“May I have a word?” Kunimi nervously nodded. Along with blatantly ignoring the chain of command he was also guilty of disregarding a direct order. “It was risky, dangerous and extremely unprofessional of you to ignore the orders from those above you.”
Kunimi cringed, mentally readying himself to hear of his own termination.
“However...your actions are the reason your ships captain is still alive, and the safe return of your crew. I commend you for your bravery Akira, not to mention your displays of your great talent as a sailor and leader.” Kunimi, along with Yahaba and Shirabu who were there as well, looked shocked to hear the words coming from their employers mouth.
“U-uh It was my honor, thank you, sir.” Irihata nodded, “That is why I’m promoting you to Captain. Congratulations son, you deserve it. I suggest you celebrate and tell that lovely lady of yours.” Kunimi smiled widely, excitedly nodding and shaking the older mans hand.
“I will sir! Thank you for this opportunity! And she won’t be my girlfriend much longer; soon I intend to make her my wife.” The words stung as they processed into Shirabu’s brain. As long as he could remember he had been in love with the beautiful, talented and kind Y/n L/n, but she, despite having known Shirabu longer, fell for his closest friend, Kunimi…
He had tried to let it go, he spent years fending off the little green monster. But it’s hard to let go when it’s unintentionally rubbed in your face day, after day of what you don’t, and will never have. ‘
Forgive me, old friend. But it’s time I start being selfish and take what is rightfully mine.’ After they were dismissed, Shirabu quietly dragged Yahaba out of the meeting and towards Kunimi’s quarters. As he does this he wonders, what will Y/n think of her precious Kunimi when he’s discovered to be a traitor…?

It was the first week after the beginning of summer break.
Everyone was in a great mood because summer was here, the weather was fantastic and they were going to be at a camp without adults. But Kindaichi couldn’t exactly let this summery hype envelop him fully like the others. He couldn’t help but have a sort of bittersweet feeling about it if he let himself think that this would be the last summer camp with everyone on the team.

Wrote this a long time ago for the @hq-campzine and forgot to post it! I know it’s cold and snowy outside, but I hope this will warm you a bit from the inside! :)

Haikyuu Band AU: Staff
AU where all the Haikyuu dorks go to the same high school and are in the Concert + Marching Band together.
Takeda - Assistant Director, Music History/Theory Teacher
The school was told to they needed more fine arts courses and voluntold Takeda to put something together
Since he took a music history class in college for his humanities credit and really enjoyed it, he chose to teach music history to fulfill the requirement
He does such a good job the interest in band increases among the kids and the school puts a bit more effort into their band program as a result (ie. made Takeda the official band director)
It was a major struggle his first year as the director because of his lack of actual music experience and the small number of kids in the program, but he worked hard and stuck with it and the kids that were in it at the time really liked and appreciated him
His second-year directing is when all the third years entered the program, and with the huge influx of kids Takeda knew he wouldn’t be able to do them justice so he started actively looking for an experienced band director
After getting Keishin on board it became easier to recruit the rest of the staff on board
By the time the third years are third years Takeda is well versed enough in music to teach music theory class as well (with Keishin’s help in the background)
Ukai Keishin – Director (Trumpet/Percussion)
Has grown up surrounded by music, learned piano in elementary school, played trumpet in middle school and switched to percussion in high school
Was very reluctant to be the director of his old alma mater because one, he isn’t qualified to be a music/band director, and two, he doesn’t like how he’s just following in his grandfather’s footsteps when he’s been trying to do his own thing after graduating high school himself
So ‘technically’ Keishin isn’t part of the school staff, as in he’s not an official teacher for the school and is listed as someone the band program as a whole pay to help them out
Is a lot better at his new found job than he gives himself credit for and creates a huge buzz among the high school band directors
Gets slightly annoyed when his grandfather shows up to practices unannounced after that (and is also very secretly grateful for his help, and at the same time not cause he can cause a huge disturbance, plus it’s his band)
Nekomata – Woodwind Assistant (Alto Sax)
Was recruited by Takeda around the same time as Keishin knowing he used to help out Old Director Ukai back in the day
Nekomata agreed to be on staff to humor himself and see how Ukai’s grandson would maintain the Ukai name
Is the woodwind assistant the first year and then moves to assisting the low reeds when more staff join in the second year
Is the most chill staff member and the kids really connect with his teachings
He played all the smooth jazz when younger and once joined Oikawa and Usuri at the mall, sunglasses and all
Irihata Nobuteru (Seijoh Lead Coach) – Brass Assistant (Euphonium)
Got laid off as the band director at his old school due to the program being shut down
Found Takeda’s ‘help wanted adds’ and moved his whole life to assist thinking he would be hired as the lead director
Was disappointed to learn that position was already filled, but sticks around anyways because he can’t deny these high school kids music
When it’s time for sectional practice he mainly lets the kids run it themselves and steps in when either a) they get off topic or b) need extra help getting past a difficult section
Leaves after the first years graduate due to Yachi’s mom finding him a position as lead director at a school she finally convinced to support and fund a band program
Washijou – Percussion Assistant, (Percussion/Cymbals)
Invited himself on the staff Keishin’s second year of directing (when the current second years joined as first years) due to his interest in a band that was a no name suddenly being the talk of the high school music world
Clashed greatly with Keishin at first and it took them a while to balance their expectations and teaching styles (and him accepting Keishin is lead director)
Very strict about posture, and playing ergonomics, to improve their playing and to prevent the kids from harming themselves (they will not end up with bad backs cause of band)
He sticks around for concert season and helps get the kids into honor bands and involved in summer sleep away band camps
Anabara (Johzenji Coach) – Marching/Woodwind Assistant (Clarinet)
Runs basics block, everyone dreads it and loves it at the same time
He makes them rep until their feet fall off, especially during band camp and they are all getting back into the swing of marching
Yet everyone really likes it when he runs basics cause he makes them do really cool patterns that fun to watch (zigzags, blocks, zigzag-blocks; I hope you understand what I mean here)
The one who plans out all the different formations the band does on the field, and eventually shows Kenma how to use the computer program, and Kenma helps plan out the final movement for their show his senior year
Mizoguchi Sadayuki (Seijoh Coach) – Brass Assistant (Trumpet)
Joins the staff during Keishin’s second year upon Irihata’s recommendation, and mainly works with the upper brass while Irihata focuses on low brass
If you are late to practice, he will first make you stay late to rep basics blocks till your feet fall off and rep your scales till your lips go numb for concert season
Postures a lot as being a responsible no-fun adult and the kids buy it for the most part, till they see him celebrate just as hard as them upon their accomplishments
The kids then tease him for being ‘old’ sending him into an early midlife crisis
Ukai Ikkie – Past Director (Percussion/Snare)
Way back in the day was the one who took the band to nationals in both marching and concert competitions
Retired once the program dwindled and his old age started catching up to him
Likes to come around every now and then to check up on his alma mater (especially after he learned Nekomata came back out of retirement to help out, and to support his grandson of course)
Has and will make you run laps if he senses any slacking whenever he randomly shows up to practices (this includes concert season)
Is very proud of Keishin and all he has accomplished with the band even if he isn’t the best at showing it
Bonus: Shimada Makoto – Oboe, Alto Sax (Marching)
Plays as the piano accompanist for solo and ensemble
The one adult staff the kids go to for life advice willingly and becomes their life mentor as well as a music mentor
Bonus: Takinoue Yuusuke – Trumpet
Drives the equipment truck during marching season and ended up in charge of handling the props as well
Keishin keeps telling Takinoue he doesn’t need to help out anymore now that the band is well staffed because he can’t handle Takinoue encouraging the second year’s tomfoolery
