how seventeen spend a day off with their s/o at home
requested by anon: can you write: how svt spend their free time at home with their s/o? (i imagine lots of cuddles and domestic stuff, but go give us details)
notes: mentions of violence (video games)
masterlist
Tumblr media
seungcheol
sleeps. when he knows he has time to lie in on the weekend, he's turning off both of your alarms, closing the curtains tightly and hugging you against him in bed probably until noon of the next day. mostly bc he can't wait to get some (well deserved) rest and also because there's something soso domestic about going to sleep w you in his arms and waking up to your relaxed, sleeping face
jeonghan
is all "we should do something" but can never decide on what to do. it's weird, bc whenever he talks about what he'd do if he ever had a day off, he says that he's going to sleep through it. and then when a day off comes, he wants to Do things. takes so long to decide that he ends up doing nothing, but it's okay bc he had fun making you laugh while deciding what he wanted to do
joshua
asks you what you wanna do and goes along with anything from there. wanna watch a movie? okay baby tell him which one and in fact, let's watch ten. wanna have an entire spa day at home? ooh pls let him join he's always wanted to do one of those. the sweetest and softest actually, gazing at you adoringly the entire time bc he just loves spending time w you so, so much.
junhui
i don't know many video games, but jun seems like the type to bust out those nintendo games with the hand-held controllers that connect to the tv, or mario kart or something, and you spend the better part of the day yelling at each other while shaking the controls at the screen. pouts so bad if he loses, asks for conciliatory kisses and conciliatory cuddles, or else he's going to be sulking the entire day
hoshi
needs to be entertained every single minute otherwise his head is going to implode. hangs off of you like a koala the entire time, bc he gets so clingy when it's just the two of you, and honestly it's a little adorable to have a soft hoshi squished against your shoulder. watches you play games on your phone, has a nap while hugging you and needs to be woken up in the evening to have dinner
wonwoo
he's gaming on his computer for the entire day actually. you can sit in his bed and watch him, but if you whine for long enough then he'll probably let you sit on his lap provided you don't fidget too much. tries to teach you how to play before you tell him that you'd much rather just watch him. smiles at you during a lull in the game and kisses your forehead before going back to committing acts of violence against pixelated characters
woozi
initially planned to have a lie in w you that morning, but his body is so trained to getting up early that it didn't work. stares at you sleeping for about an hour or so. not in a creepy way, just in a very fond "you're adorable when you're asleep even when you're making small snoring sounds" kind of way. doesn't really do much the entire day, stays in bed w you before you both eventually get up to have some dinner
minghao
puts on music, sits on the sofa, and reads. needs to have you curled up against him tho, and you'll both read your respective books while the music swells around you. lets you do anything you want really, petting your hair when you headbutt his hand, interlacing your fingers with his when you nudge his wrist. smiles at you over his book, eyes soft with love
mingyu
bakes. bakes batches n batches of cookies with you even if you say you're terrible at baking bc "nonsense no one's terrible at baking". almost breaks the stand mixer by nearly dropping it when he's getting it out of the cupboard. pinches your cheeks while his hands are covered in flour. lets you lick the spoon afterwards, ruffling your hair and calling you cute. still with flour on his hands.
dokyeom
stages impromptu karaoke sessions for the whole day. you don't even need to have a karaoke machine, he'll just put those sing-along videos on the tv and jump around screaming the lyrics with you. sings the entire day, even if you get tired, and eventually ends up serenading you with love songs before abandoning the karaoke to kiss you nice and sweetly, the music muffled in the background.
seungkwan
idk like mingyu he probably also bakes. wants to be like those aesthetic pinterest girlies w cream and strawberry cakes with pretty piping, and it goes pretty well? he has fun baking w you, and tries to make that dalgona coffee afterwards but gives up after a bit bc his arms started to hurt. but good thing is his cake tasted rlly nice, especially bc it was made with his love for you :D ("kwan that doesn't make sense" "shh yes it does")
vernon
binge watches tv shows and movies with you. you get out all the snacks, pile them up on the coffee table, and then turn on the television and watch countless episodes of american sitcoms or netflix shows or, one time, (almost) the entirety of the mcu. it's a day of laughing at the screen, hansol's arm a warm and comforting weight against yours, eating junk and feeling utterly relaxed with him by your side
chan
days off with chan are probably very spontaneous and could be anything. one time you spent the entire day watching ted talks and tried to perform stand up comedy to each other after a particularly interesting video. another time you played monopoly on the app for three hours straight then had to stop before you threw his phone against the wall in frustration. they're always very relaxed days, but it's fun nevertheless

Sorry if this is too much to ask! But do you ever think you to do a quick drawing tutorial? Or like, what brushes you use, the canvas size you usually use, and what you think may help besides "draw and practice every day" (because while that is solid advice I am curious about your thoughts)
I have little bits here and there but a one big info package sounds good :3 My way of working is a bit chaotic compared to (most?) many artists lol.
I use Fire Alpaca and my drawing tabled it XP Pen Artist 13.3 Pro (SUPER RECOMMENDED!!). My drawing canvas is 5555 x 7777 pixels wide. I like to draw in big sizes as when you resize an image smaller, its quality becomes better. Thus, I can draw extremely messy stuff and it still looks nice when resized. Because of this messiness and big canvas, I can sometimes draw with my non-dominant hand, too, and it still looks fine!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
See here for more examples of how messy my stuff is before resizing!
I don't use any fancy brushes. My way of drawing digitally is to mimic traditional medium drawing as much as possible. The less the program does things for me, the better!
I use just the ordinary Fire Alpaca brush. I have no set size for the brush but I change it based on what I need - anything from 18pxl to 38 pxls. I think the average is around 24-26pxls. I have anti-aliasing on and my stabilizer is set to 33 (Global setting).
Tumblr media
For a bucket, my settings are the following: Tolerance 27, Anti-aliasing on and expand on 1 (albeit I edit this one if needed).
Tumblr media
For texture, I can use a Flat brush (you see this in blood a lot). I have a few round brushes for chains and other small details but I use them so rarely it really doesn't even count. For front views, I enjoy using Symmetry brush.
I use lots and lots of references! The best thing with references is that when you repeat a same thing with a reference, you will eventually learn how to draw it without one. References are every artist's friends! Always, always, always go for a reference and don't hesitate to trace stuff to learn and figure basic shapes for your stuff. (But trace other people art privately for learning purposes only, as everyone draws and paints with different lines and strokes)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I generally draw with a free hand without sketching, unless the pose is difficult. I always draw a head on its own layer so that I don't have to worry is the body right size to the head. I can edit both freely when they are on their individual layers. For layers, I use only multiply if needed.
Here's a video of my typical drawing process with a free hand (sped up). If the above link doesn't work, go here. You'll find more tagged as #niu_video
WHAT ELSE?

I hope you die, your its okay art lied about everything
(mention of mw3 spoilers)
Hello dear annon.
I would like to say in the first place, that art of mine isn't tag or meant to be a mw3 thing, I drew it as a comfort art for me and thought of sharing it to everyone else too.
Though it has seem to elicit a response like this from you it seems, and Im sorry you have to feel this way.
As much as the news of our fav character passing distraught everyone, keep in mind they're pixels and that we, the people in the fandom are real people. Don't channel your emotions like this to other people.
Yes, they're more than pixels, some of these characters are our comfort characters and they changed our live. I understand that.
But in no way should you ever send death threats like this to ANYONE, and i mean other artist, content creators, voice actors and the developer themselves(yes, there are people doing that)
I get it, everyone is sad, mad, disappointed and just overall not in a good mood from the game, and sometimes emotions get in the heat of the moment.
I'll never know what happened in your end, maybe you were going through it and my art sets everything off in you, I can understand.
But understand that there is also, another person at the other end, that may also be affected by such news(i am in fact still not over it), negative comments like this only serve to damage people more.
Be better than this, learn to handle intense feelings in another way.
This fandom has many many talented people who has offer their take on the ending, some are making fix-it fic, some are making their own cannon, some are expressing their pain in arts and writings, some are openly expressing their pain and frustration with others in the comment doing the same, and some are offering great in-depth analysis of the game and how they think.
That is what I suggest you to do, visit those things, it helps to level your emotions, or find someone to confine to, instead of being negative like this.
I hope you read this and learn something.
I can only say you're lucky that I know how to handle situation like this, you need to understand that death threat like this carry a lot of consequences and damage no matter how short the words are, so much so that someone out there can take it seriously.
Don't be that kind of person, don't let temporary feelings like this lead to another one's end.
And please.
It's a fictional game. Please remind yourself that.
and to the rest who are reading this, PLEASE as well do not get too mad over this and threaten the annon, we are better than this. Acknowledged the threat and move on, let's keep it that way and make this a safe place <3.

I love people indulging in their interests
Y'know what I love? People enjoying themselves, indulging in their interests and slaving away in their hobbies because that happens to be something they love to do. I love seeing social awkward men break out of their shell as soon as their favorite thing in the whole wide world enters the conversation. I love watching girl groups congregate to fangirl together.
I spend too many of my hours allowing older people in my life to ramble on about their favorite hobbies, going into detail about all the history, the drama they've encountered along the way participating in it, how much they still to this day enjoy to do it. I love watching elderly people continue to create. I love watching middle aged people using all of their experience in life to create. I love watching kids getting that spark to suddenly create, and never ever stopping.
When geologist finally have the chance to talk about rocks an angel sings I swear it. When a worldbuilder is asked question about their worlds, the light in their eyes is enough to even budge my most depressed hours. When an incredibly niche historian meets teens that share their interests, their inner child jumps with deserved joy.
I love hobbies that have nothing else to them but to act as a hobby. I love all kinds of hobbies. No one should be ashamed of model building, replicating pixel art in Minecraft, completionist achievement hunting, doll collecting, language learning, and more. Very few moments rival the heavenly moment of when a young child puts their energy out there to do something, and you see a sudden newfound love manifest on their face.
I love strangers slowly getting comfortable and revealing all of their interests. I love seeing people indulge in their interests. It is simply a human need. A society isn't worth it unless it has the free time for those to indulge in their interests, and those people can have the excess money to spend on said interests.

I think there is nothing more embarrassing than being mocked by Shadowheart.
Like really? Miss "I'm full of secrets I just gotta remember them real quick"
Madame "no my dark lady loves me I sweaaar"
Like if I didn't know she was cult washed in the brain I would have thought she was the most conceted creature at camp!
Like she's so stand-offish and she only has like ONE secret which she can't hide for shit like get over yourself! How can you mock me!!!
Anyways I started a new playthrough and forgot to save her so she's snippy at me. Its my own fault really. She's one of my most beloved set of pixels in any game I've ever played.
Honestly anon, you're right. Enjoy the new playthrough, because it's fun when she starts off that way!
One of my favorite parts of her character is how oblivious and lacking in self-awareness she is. It's almost comical how eager to offer up secrets she is for someone that loves to go on about how Sharrans need secrecy "as a shield." It shows that the writers at least understand what cult-like magical thinking can do to people's perception of the self combined with the code switching she has when she's speaking about Sharran practices/faith versus just talking regularly about anything else.
Everyone should do a playthrough where they ignore her pod in the nautiloid to get some of that slightly edgier dialogue early on. It's fun!
Side-note: I've seen so many folks get upset about how hypocritical/lacking in self-awareness she can be... but that's, like, the whole point lmao

no cause anon seriously has issues and needs to step back a little and think about their actions💀 because doing all of this and harassing so many people all over FICTION, PIXELS!!! is literally so embarrassing but also concerning like😭 anon, you call every levi stan or levi x reader/oc shipper delusional, but what are you? aren’t you also delusional? literally look at all the asks you sent and think to yourself if this is what a person that is not delusional acts like💀 just fucking enjoy your ship in peace for fuck’s sake, no one that you harassed hates eruri and if you took your time to actually read and comprehend what these people told you, you would see how stupid you are because you are literally attacking people that explicitly told you they LIKE eruri😭😭 being aware that a ship doesn’t exist in canon does not make these people homophobes? isayama had all the time in the world to confirm any levi ship, the manga ended in like what, 2021? he could’ve easily added an extra scene in the final episode too, like he did the levi one with the kids, where levi’s focus was only on erwin and erwin alone or them having a final last scene, but he did not bc that’s not what levi’s story is about😭
i am sorry that you and everyone else keep getting these asks but this anon really pisses me off💀 they need to live in the real world more and see actual homophobia, not shipping a fictional queer ship does not make you homophobic. and also, anon, you should check on your internalized misogyny a little bit because you hate levi self-shippers because… most of them are women? i don’t have any other explanation for your deep hatred for self-shipping💀
the audacity of this person is insane😭😭
They're living in a world of delusion. It truly is pathetic. That's all they have. To say we're all homophobes, because they have no actual arguments to support the notion that Levi is gay, or loves Erwin, or whatever. It's school yard tactics. A half-witted child could come up with something more creative. Like you said, everyone they're attacking actually LIKES eruri, reads eruri fanfic, draws eruri fan art, etc, etc... But it's not canon. Apparently acknowledging actual canon makes one a raging bigot.
But as you also point out, the real bigot is them. They hate women, apparently. Why else would it give them such a rage boner, every time anyone ships Levi with themselves? Why is that so awful? They accuse self-shippers of being delusional, but no self-shipper I've ever spoken with has ever proclaimed their fantasy to be canon, unlike them, who can't accept the reality of eruri not being an actual thing within the story, even as that reality punches them repeatedly in the face.

I have finished all of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters. That was pretty fun! Honest to god my initial reaction is to replay some of them immediately but I should probably put some distance on that. No promises. The last time I played most of these was...the GBA/DS remakes. So a while ago. Thoughts on each below.
Final Fantasy 1 Easily my favorite iteration of the game. I'm going to be honest with you, FF1 doesn't have a ton in its favor, but the game is simplified enough that, with the new mechanics, I can turn off all encounters, hit 4x EXP, just do boss fights, trapped chests, and forced encounters, and be done with the game in like 3 hours. If I'm ever just craving a quick thing, this is as quick as it gets, with none of the frustration.
Yeah, I'm gonna be honest, this is a common theme so to avoid repeating myself I'll say it once here: random encounters suck. It's why FF12 has been my favorite since it came out; I can just see where enemies are and explore how I wish, without getting bombarded by bullshit and back attacks and whatever else is going on. Turning those off as needed is divine. The tradeoff is that for some games, you then lose sense of progression and what level you are "supposed" to be at for what you're doing, and in those situations the 4x EXP is nice for quick grinding to catch you up. I will admit, however, that this can completely break the flow of the game, so I did try to keep encounters on at all times for most games, but I am more than satisfied going "fuck I'm lost again" and just turning off encounters for a minute while I get my bearings. This game just doesn't broadly appeal beyond its quick nature, so I'm more than satisfied just doing the boss run.
Final Fantasy 2 To avoid talking about the random chance level ups, I'm instead going to talk about two other things that make this my least favorite in the set: dungeon layout, and why you can't let me have things.
Dungeon layout is the fair criticism. Dungeons are overly complex and a pain in my ass to navigate. This is another I eventually broke and just turned off encounters while exploring, just because it was too many of them. Get the fuck out of my face, man, I'm trying to backtrack seven different staircases. Also the rooms. Almost all of them are empty, but you gotta check in case there's treasure, but if it is empty enjoy higher encounter rates for no real reason other than punishing your curiosity, you fool. It's just an overall frustrating experience with the randomness of stat boosts, and the pitifully slow grind of leveling spells.
The other is my own fault. Yeah, if there's one thing I remembered about this game from the Dawn of Souls era, it was the post-game heaven dungeon where you start as Minwu, and really want to be prepared. Early Mysidia felt like a must, and I decided fuck it, I remember how to do this, and prepared myself accordingly. Long story short, don't do this. You'll set yourself up for a position of being wildly overpowered the entire game, especially if you're an idiot, break after directions were given, forget where you're going and wind up going north to another high level area that gets you even more powerful, and now the whole thing is shot to shit. I like sequence breaking games, but I feel like this one is way more severe with any understanding of what you can get away with. And I will always optimize the fun out of my experience. Never let me do things.
Final Fantasy 3 This was my favorite experience. I played damn near the entire game without even touching the toggle for encounters. FF3 is a ton of fun. I enjoy getting to mess with customization options like the classes, and the lack of JP (ABP, whatever) makes it a lot more fluid. Sure, there's job level, but job level amounts to nothing. It's minor increases for the longer you work as that class, and it's nice but insubstantial. Which means it's fluid and engaging, because I can fun around and never find out anything too bad. Which is what I want; free flowing experimentation. I understand the original had some kind of penalty for job switching too often? Glad they got rid of that garbage.
If there's any strikes against it, it's class balance and the final dungeon. Crystal Tower into World of Darkness is like a 2+ hour affair, without save points, and Autosave doesn't carry over if you turn the game off. Do not do as I did and go in like an hour and a half before your usual winding down before bed time. You will not make it. Class balance is a bit of a mixed bag.
On the one hand, compared to 5, 3's classes tend to overlap a lot. The Earth Crystal is literally nothing but pure upgrades on early classes. Black/White Mage become Wizards gaining better offensive stats and more spell slots for higher tier spells, while Summoner is just Evoker with competence. Knight is just Fighter but better. Black Belt is just Monk but better. As a result, it distills into only a handful of meaningful distinctions anyway, with a couple offshoot classes that...suck. They suck. Ranger has no good weapons for late-game, Geomancer is a great mage alternative until endgame when everything's single-target, I have no idea what the point of Scholar is but I don't agree with it. I don't consider this a truly hideous detriment, but it lacks the same level of shenanigans 5 gets up to.
Final Fantasy 4 Fun fact: before 12 came out, this was my favorite, because I found it easy enough to be engaging, including the GBA superdungeon which was the only one I could beat, and Rydia was my baby child favorite. That last part is still true. The thing I didn't seem to remember is how...weird the story actually was. Like it's not particularly great. I don't think it's terrible, but it's not great. Mostly Kain's whole deal irritates me now.
But it is still fun! I think it's a much different experience. The moon still took forever to explore, but thanks to save points actually existing, you can break between things. Boss fights feel appropriately more difficult than most random encounters, with a decent number of gimmick bosses that require a bit more know-how to handle, and a few dungeons you can do out of sequence in the underground if you're ambitious. I think it's a very simple game to understand, with a pretty clear-cut approach to success. That said, there's like no customization. Characters are as they are, there's really nothing to consider aside from level. And your party is set, so there's no variation on what you can do.
Final Fantasy 5 5 was another really fun experience, though I cushion that with a major caveat. 5 was fun because of the toggle for 4x ABP, which made leveling jobs to find out what they did actually tolerable. Without this, job levels are unbearably hard to level up, with no indication of what you actually learn per level, that you may as well be shooting in the dark.
See, the fun of 5 is that you have your class, and you have one extra ability slot, taken from other class skills unlocked by leveling them up. For magic classes, that's "Magic Type Lv X," up to 6, where you can cast everything in that category. For physical classes, this is usually some form of "Equip my weapon type," alongside generalist skills. Some are better than others, and some are action commands that are much, much stronger, and are the basis for making really strong outcomes.
This is why I don't love the system as much as 3. To find out what you even have access to, you're made to slog through the physical classes to find out what other skills they're offering. Which takes somewhere around literally forever. Bosses will hand you like 5BP, for classes that need like 700 to max. If you don't know in advance where the good stuff is, there's a chance you've walked into options you don't need.
Granted, 5 is lax enough broadly that you can still make use of classes. Unlike 3's direct upgrades over time, 5 gives you almost all classes early, and all of them have interesting options for utility. So you can make use of anything. I think for my completionist ass, I'm looking at Omega and Shinryu and going fuck dude, how are you supposed to beat that without foreknowledge of some of the skills available? Wildly over-leveling? In a game with fairly poor EXP yields where I think I ended at around level 40? Not happening. Otherwise, the class imbalance isn't too bad, and is in some cases hysterical. You know there's a setting to toggle 4x gil received? Zeninagi on Samurai was already an instant-kill button half the time, and now you've made it a free action. Meanwhile summon magic late game feels kinda garbage. Flare and Holy outdamaged Bahamut no problem. It is really funny to see this reversal from 4. From Rydia's summons being bad all game because they're just overpriced spells on your Black Mage but endgame Bahamut being defining, to excellent low-cost AoE spells with good damage early and mid-game into kinda useless by endgame. It's just funny to see systems like these change over time, and how they try to adjust for balance.
I do think this was a surprisingly strong story and cast, too. I only remembered it being kinda goofy compared to the others as a kid, but having re-visited, I think it's a lot more earnest and impactful than I gave it credit for.
Final Fantasy 6 I'll be honest, it's very good, but depending on my mood, I'd say I like 3 and 5 better. I like being able to customize, and I think I actually like FF5's cast and story better than 6.
6 succeeds on being competent at everything, even if it's not the strongest in everything. Its story is well told and it sticks to its general themes of love and loss, and finding meaning in a bleak world. But I also think 5 did the "Defeat Nihilism through the Power of Connection" thing with a more diverse cast and emphasis on friendships and general human spirit, while 6 seems to focus more on romance and family in a way that makes a lot of character histories sound very same-y, in that a big chunk is "and then they died." There's a bit of customization, as far as selecting which members to bring along and how you distribute magicite for learning magic, but nowhere near the level of complexity you can find in 5. I'd also say the AP system in 6 is wildly slow, but at least there it's more concentrated to "just learn the spells you need" and you actually know exactly what you're signing up for. Though I personally don't care for making decisions between good spells or good stats early on, my min-maxing ass is bad with these kinds of things. I know it's a problem.
I do think it has an inverse problem to 5, where the random encounters feel devastating in several locations, but only one boss ever gave me any difficulty, and it was because I was suffering from success (It was the tunnel digger in Locke's route early game; turns out if you have the Hermes Sandals on him or Celes the Runic timing gets thrown off and it cooks you, but without that it's super easily won; my bad but for stupid reasons, I feel). Almost every game over was due to back attacks, which are damn near constant in this game. Some areas I counted and literally had more sneak attacks on me than regular encounters. Meanwhile, bosses go down like sacks of shit, because magic is hysterically overpowered. Yeah yeah, Kefka's god now or whatever, but can he survive Relm Dualcasting Flare for max damage twice per round? No, he's just going to eat shit from this level 40 ten-year-old? Radical. This may be personal preference, but if FF1's blurb wasn't an indication, I much prefer "easy encounters, difficult bosses." Ideally, no encounters. Just ping-pong me from boss to boss. I feel like I could actually do that in 6 if it wasn't for AP needed to learn spells.
Future Plans I'm thinking of getting 7 and 9 if they ever go on sale again. I really don't want to play 8. I remember playing 8, my wife had commented on it being a formative game for her so I played it long, long ago before we were even dating, but it was so bad I can't do it again. 10 I'm on the fence about, because I do like the gameplay for 10, but we tried watching a playthrough of 10 and she couldn't stand it so maybe not. My laptop is dying, and so is my wife's, so we've tossed around finally getting a proper PC that can like...play games and shit. So who knows, maybe I'll finally play past 12 in this series. Miracles do happen.

I haven’t played Coral Island yet bc it’s midterms and I’m not allowed to buy new games until exams are over but I’ve had it wishlisted for years and I feel… really disappointed that it’s getting so many bad reviews for being a farming sim that isn’t Stardew, so thanks for putting it into words better than I can.
I love Stardew and I’ve played Harvest Moon and Rune Factory for years (still have an og copy of Rune Factory 1 that I love and play to this day) and I’ve been trying Wylde Flowers on Apple Arcade bc I love this genre! And it’s so sad to see that new games in this genre we love are getting hate just for being a part of the genre.
To be completely fair, the negative reviews are def in the minority, at least on Steam anyway. The main reason those few stuck out to me was just because of how ridiculous they were and how clear it was that the person who posted them had never played another farming sim before and assumed that Stardew was the first to come up with even the most basic standard gameplay mechanics and story beats of the entire farming sim genre. (I mean I wasn't kidding there were actually people claiming that you upgrading your tools and buying seeds at the general store was stuff copied from Stardew. Like...seriously?? SERIOUSLY???)
Also a couple of the reviews were just annoying, like one that had a stuck-up tone as it implied that Stardew was the "original" that "perfected" the genre and everything else was derivative trash and we should all go support ConcernedApe because he was clearly being unfairly robbed by a "bigger studio", then another that claimed Coral Island was "just Stardew Valley with better graphics" which irritated me because Stardew doesn't have bad graphics!! It's intentionally using pixel art as its style!!! Legit made me offended on Stardew's behalf like literally please stop talking forever.
And it's frustrating because I do agree with one of the neutral reviews I read that points out the actual flaws in the game as it is right now! I think there's a lot of value in talking about the issues and I also agree that honestly the game kinda isn't really worth $24 right now given how many critical features are missing. Yeah, it's in early access, but currently there's no accessibility options or controller support, you can't rebind keys(which lord is annoying lemme tell ya), there are a LOT of game-breaking bugs, the characters start to feel really bland really fast cuz of how much dialog is missing, seed and crop prices are unbalanced so it's hard to make money that way, they don't always make it clear when something actually isn't available yet which leads to frustration(especially around the festivals, which basically don't exist at all even though the game keeps prompting you to go to them), stuff like that is worth talking about!! People SHOULD know all of that going in so they don't spend $24 on something they aren't going to enjoy(or even be able to play) yet!!
But instead of bringing up any of that the negative reviews are all just "blah blah it's copying Stardew Valley" which isn't helpful or even really true! And hell even when there is some stuff that's a little too close to Stardew for comfort the reviews ignore that and instead just complain about all of the stuff that's true of like, every farming sim ever. Like let's critique how the General Store is closed on Wednesdays instead of how the farming sim is, you know, about farming??
But anyway, I really do like Coral Island so far even though it does have a lot of problems that need working out(I've already sunk like 18 hours into it lmao), and I think once they do work all of it out it's going to be a really, REALLY fantastic farming sim that is just as beloved as Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, and Rune Factory. I just also wish that people who clearly don't know anything about farming sims would stop complaining that it's a Stardew clone and instead talk about the real issues or even just shut up entirely.

7. Who are some artists that have inspired you? This isn't a difficult question but it's hard to like... describe why someone inspires me. I think the 1 artist that has sort of guided me to find my art style is definitely godlyDescentUFO they mostly post on deviantart/twt of which i don't really use anymore. I still think about their art a lot, and often. The colour palettes they use and the composition and body language of the characters drawn... It's just special to me. I want to replicate it. One day. Again I feel like Ive been too sucked into fandom these past few years to really do what i want to but I'll... I'll explain that later .But yeah they've been my favourite artist ever since I found them. I feel like if you just go thru their gallery you can tell why I like them
Then there's clickbaitcowboy . He's on tumblr go give them a follow. he makes godly oc illustrations and his painting skills are so... so so so so AAHHH. Im in love fr I can't explain it. The shading makes me go insane and the way he draws out anatomy and muscles and fat and just bodies in general... god
supppe, another person who is on tumblr whose colour paletes bring me joy. He makes comics and his art style is super pleasing to the eye
And from current fandom I think everyone can agree that panidanya and wszczebrzyszynie are incredible artists . Panidanyas anatomy and painting skills kill me every time and wszczebrzyszynie has this really nostalgic(?) art style that my heart can get behind. It creates art with such passion and love, you know, you can't deny that. if you look at its art you just know
Other than that the main inspiration i guess comes from my friends, from my mutuals' art. It doesn't have to be something big. It can be as simple as a small detail in someones clothing or the facial expressions. God this reminds me I miss my friends art. Evan you need to make more art I miss you
8. How would you describe your art style?
Matured deviantart emo semirealism. I dont think semi realism really fits my style bc it still feels too cartoony to me. I dont think my art style is really all that well developed idk it lacks identity to me but Im also hyper critical of my art
14. Do you prefer to make fan content or original content? This is a tricky goddamn question I thought about this for like 5 minutes and now Im even more confused. I am an oc artist first. I don't like "original" art in the sense of those paintings that just exist in a vacuum with no character stories behind them. I want something you can follow, you know. I want there to be some form of a story. which i guess is my downfall sometimes. When i draw fandom art i feel like they're also my ocs. esp bc its... its mcyt... You kind of have to make it into your oc because you have 16x16 pixel canvas and someones 2010 kakashi skin to work with.
On the other hand, bc i'm an oc artist, Im making 'fan content' of my ocs. Technically. Do yuo follow. So me drawing my babyboy Daniel 400+ times in a decade is kind of like fan content but Im the only fan... So whats original content and whats fan content.
I do feel like being so intertwined in fandom content may have hindered my art development a little bit, since I completely stopped drawing my ocs for a little while. I didn't get to explore their lives through art as much as I would've wanted to. I haven't been drawing as many backgrounds because I do enjoy mostly drawing interiors and there's not much interiors to talk about when it comes to mcyt... And ive also just been lacking motivation for it.
All in all i think i enjoy "original" art more, because it gives me more, it gives more to my heart. It's not that i don't enjoy drawing mcyt, but I think I should maybe try to draw mcyt in a more personal? matter? Without too much fandomification? I want to make more art that has "meaning" per say, with backgrounds, a story behind them. (this is just for me and what i want to get out of art, this doesn't apply to anyone else. it's such a slippery slope bc i know saying these things may feel hurtful to others but i am only talking about myself.... okay T_T) I dont know if any of this makes sense. I'm always lost in my direction with art and going to art school didn't make it any better <3
I do think that because I've been going thru a lot of personal warfare in the past 3 years, fandom HAS helped me in the sense that it helps me with creativity, since i have been severely lacking in creative thinking, I just struggle with it nowadays, so if I can draw ethubs making out under a tree bc they did so in episode 402 out of season 194 then so be it, at least it'll help me create

Google Pixel 7 Pro Review: Excellent Camera
Tumblr media
Significant Features of Google Pixel 7 Pro
Design:
The design of the 7 Pro smartphone is identical to its predecessor ( Pixel 6 Pro) but refined. Accompanying two colors and a new-iconic camera bar. It redesigned the Pixel from ordinary to outstanding, and it is a gamble repaid in spades.
Fortunately, the Google Pixel 7 Pro continues the similar footprint left by its predecessor with a few modifications to make it more compelling than ever.
The camera is still in the same place as the phone, although it now comes in stainless steel instead of glass. The camera bar is still different and identifiable, and the pronounced customer for each sensor includes more visual flair.
The refinement theme of the Pixel 7 Pro continues throughout the smartphone. Unlike its predecessor, which features a black frame regardless of color, Google Pixel 7 Pro differs in its overall looks based on the colorway.
The lemongrass modification has a golden rim for quickly identifiable and attractive combinations. The black & white edition comes with traditional anodized black and silver frames, and Google has used recycled aluminum for the versions.
Display
The front of the Google Pixel 7 Pro has up to 6.7 inch OLED screen. It offers a 3120 x 1440 resolution, peak brightness of approx 1,500 nits, and a 120HZ refresh rate. It also features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus to protect your phone against scratches and cracks.
Amazing colors, excellent viewing angles, and sharp text is best for watching movies, enjoying games, and more. The 120Hz refresh rate offers a smooth experience during use.
Security features
The Google Pixel 7 Pro offers a face unlock and fingerprint sensor.
The face unlocks of this smartphone function like the face unlock feature of the OnePlus and Samsung smartphone. It enables users to bypass the lock screen, and that’s all.
If you need to access the desired locked application, approve the Google Pay purchase, or something else, you will require to utilize the in-screen fingerprint sensor of the phone.
To move to the phone’s home screen, you should hit the power button, swipe up, and the face unlock feature will launch the home screen.
Cameras of Pirel 7 Pro
Google Pixel 7 Pro features a 50MP back camera with laser detect autofocus and an f/1.85 aperture.
The back camera connects through a 12MP ultrawide camera with up to 126-degree view, the 48MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom & around 30x with Super Res Zoom of Google.
It also consists of a 10.8 MP front camera.
Software
Google Pixel 7 Pro offers Android 13, three years of major OS updates, and five years of security updates.
The Android experience of this smartphone is virtually the same as what its predecessor resembles at launch.
The Material You theme engine of Google enables great customization, the Quick Settings buttons are vibrant and bold, and the native Privacy Dashboard makes the phone simple to quickly check how various apps are utilizing the different sensors of your smartphone.
Battery Life
The Google Pixel 7 Pro is proving to be the best one-day phone, and for a smartphone with a 6.7-inch display and 5000 MAh battery life, that can be disappointing for many smartphone users.
Final Thought
The Google Pixel 6 series of last year has a full reboot of the smartphone ambitions of Google. The company has recently launched a new hardware design that consists of a now-iconic visor camera, a redesigned interface that updates colors according to the wallpaper, and the new Pixel 6 Pro edition that feels and looks different from the other model. With such a huge shift behind us, it is pleasing to see that the company is continuing with its ideas with the Google Pixel 7 Pro. The Pixel 7 Pro consists of all the things (redesigned for this 7 Pro) that made its predecessor so excellent.

The Preferred Minecraft Java Edition Download
Meanwhile, the information base is pretty lackluster, although you possibly can nonetheless discover a few useful articles which will come in helpful. Their most popular one is a 20% off your first month low cost that’s out there with a GG Servers coupon (which you can find on the official web site). Most other options like mod/plugin help and automated backups are also included without spending a dime, nonetheless, there are a couple of bonus ones that may value you a month-to-month price. Since then, the corporate has expanded quite a bit and is presently additionally providing servers for games like Rust, CS: GO, Conan Exiles, and more. The corporate was established back in 2011 shortly after the game’s initial launch with the express purpose of providing quality and affordable servers for all fans of Minecraft. I to launch the Settings app. This mod is incredibly helpful for those who're simply starting out or have installed several mods that add new content material to the game.
You shouldn’t have any issues studying how one can manage the service due to the intuitive and easy to use Multicraft 2.0 management panel. The supplier affords very strong efficiency because of its reducing-edge hardware and its prices aren’t too unhealthy either. Managing every thing could be very intuitive thanks to the customized control panel that features numerous premium options. This add-on includes a whole bunch of recent and highly effective opponents that should tremble when they see you(or not, whatever). The entry point for the Bedrock edition is just $1.49 per thirty days however is pretty limited because it only includes 256 MB of RAM and assist for up to 10 players. MCProHosting has a dependable customer assist staff that may be contacted by way of ticket or reside chat. MCProHosting is a bit of a paradox since it’s concurrently one in all the most cost effective (Bedrock Version). The placement protection isn’t that great (only four regions to select from) however it’s not the worst we’ve seen either. Cubes are great and all, but often you desire a slope, right? Hopefully, this is something that will probably be remedied in future updates, because I really need the facility Rangers pores and skin pack that was launched on different platforms earlier this yr.
The support isn’t at all times the most effective but that is one thing that may simply be improved sooner or later. Fairly costly, however, you get numerous resources in return even with the essential package along with priority help. The essential plan comes with 1 GB of RAM however you will get so much more than that by upgrading to a dearer bundle. Anvilnode provides Minecraft hosting at decent costs but you can get a good better deal on your hosting plan by using one of our particular coupon codes. MelonCube provides greater than 30,000 single-click on Bukkit plugin installers to boost your gaming expertise even additional. The storage at ServerMiner is unlimited and also you get entry to one-click installers for a wide number of plugins and modpacks. In case your Minecraft world ever will get deleted or corrupted, ServerMiner allows you to recover it in its entirety inside 7 days, complete with mods, plugins, and everything else. Within the case of Bedrock, you may spend $three on a dedicated IP or a few bucks to add more storage to the automated backup system. That said, you possibly can spend a couple of bucks on optionally available providers like devoted IPs and modpack setup help.
So far as the other options are involved, you may anticipate many of the widespread ones like DDoS protection, full FTP access and mod support to be included with every package deal. It's blocky graphics, full of sharp proper angles and large "pixels" are removed from life like, nevertheless it offers the game a signature visible type and plenty of charm. As far as the situation protection is worried, there are eight regions to choose from, which is definitely not dangerous in comparison with different Minecraft hosting suppliers. The truth that the corporate fees for limitless slots isn’t precisely ideally suited however no less than you get a number of server locations to choose from, a stable refund coverage, and quite a number of good features, including automatic backups. Dedicated IPs are available for the Java version as well together with limitless participant slots for $2 per month and a few server administration packages priced between $7.99 and $9.Ninety nine monthly that embody dozens of mods, plugins, and other bonuses. Minecraft-servers.live is exclusive to Java Version. If you’re in need of guides and tutorials, on the other hand, you may at all times take a look at the knowledgebase, though it’s worth noting that a lot of the articles there are about the Java edition of Minecraft.

how to pan gifs
were u ever like gahd these camerapeople again making yet another stage ungiffable. yeah me too.
sooo here in this tutorial i'm gonna try to explain how to pan gifs so ur subject can remain centered or at least not be out of frame, sth like this:
Tumblr media
this is a more advanced tutorial, in a sense that i'll assume you know how to make gifs, not in a sense that this is complicated lmao, okay let's gooo:
essentially this is what's happening and what we gonna do:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
before we dive into the how tho, it must be said that photoshop's timeline can only do linear movements so no easing. at times it can look unnatural or choppy or... frankly both. (if you want to know more about this look up ease-in-out animation curve, or easing curves)
part 01 · prepping gifs
as i wrote in my gif making process post i usually crop my gifs bigger than they usually will be. e.g. a 268px gif will be cropped to anything between 468-540px. sometimes because i want to have the opportunity to position the gif a bit differently but most of the time because i know 268px is a reeeaaalllyyy tight place and i need to make some movement adjustments especially for weekend music shows where the camerapeople seem to be on crack or just very into experimenting
part 02 · let the keyframe madness begin
whichever way you are making gifs just open up your gif and crop it to the final size, colour it and whatever else you fancy. once you have everything ready just open your video layer on your timeline (if you don't know where you will be able to see it in the video later)
you will see 3 tracks, transform, opacity and style. for this we will use the transform because it contains movements (but also resizing if that's what you fancy).
all we need to do is create keyframes which will define what is the position of the video layer at a certain time. so e.g. here we are moving this box to the right by 50px in 1 second.
Tumblr media
to create keyframes click on the timer icon in front of the position label and photoshop will create you one. the active one will always be yellow. if you move on the timeline with your playhead (that thing that is moving) and you resize/move your layer photoshop will create yet another keyframe for you without you needing to click on it, because it will recognise the change. so all you need to figure out is when the movement starts and which position your layer should be, and the same for the end and ps will take care of the rest.
Tumblr media
part 03 · some things to consider when panning gifs
now this is the part where it gets subjective and less tutorial like. so all i can provide is some explanation how i go about it and what i pay attention to.
tip #1: match the movement speed to the gif
whenever you are panning a gif it may result in the gif being choppy bc the framerate and your movements are not matching up, so it's either too fast and photoshop needs to move your image by too many pixels frame by frame or it's too slow resulting in basically the same thing but kinda reversed, either way it won't look smooth. this mostly happens when the original footage is moving (there is a quick camera pan/movement) and you are trying to keep it in place, less when the original is kinda still and the subject is moving. this is kind of a trial and error process: try moving your keyframes closer to each other or maybe further, add more/less movement between two keyframes and just see which results in a smoother gif.
Tumblr media
tip #2: try moving your gif once in one direction
there are times when your subject might go out of frame multiple times and you have the urge to keyframe the whole gif and keep them in center the whole time. however, as we do not have easing curves in photoshop the switch between moving something from one direction to the other one will be very visible. so try placing your subject in a way that you'll only need to make one movement and it's kinda okay all the way thru or pick the most annoying 'placement' you want to correct. here in this example it mostly bugged me that the gif was not centered at the end, but onda kinda remained in frame.
Tumblr media
tip #3: pan your gifs when there is a quick zoom/movement
sometimes whatever i do the gif will look choppy regardless one movement or not. in these moments, and these moments ONLY we can be thankful for the sometimes unnecessary zooming that's happening and reposition our gifs while the zooming is happening. since there is already a drastic movement you can get away with basically anything, as long as you time the beginning and the end where the zoom begins and ends. also i must add that you can pan stage gifs way more and more drastically bc there is a lot of things happening in the background, so adding a bit of movement on top of all the other movements is less noticeable than... moving footage where e.g. the background is static.
Tumblr media
✨something extra✨ · panning/moving other things
so what we looked at is moving the whole gif to fit into the frame we have, but with this technique obviously you can move all sorts of stuff, text, texture whatever you fancy. you can apply this process to the layer you wanna move and this is when you get these:
Tumblr media
a sidenote: the fade effect is literally the same keyframe business but instead of playing with position keyframes you change the opacity keyframes.
aaand that is all, if you have any questions my askbox is always open so hmu <3
tagging @sanhwalynight bc of requesting reasons hehe

I saw this post and I was wondering if you write Malleus' too, is okay for you to make that?
How to win a heart of Malleus Draconia?
Tumblr media
a/n: I started posting my writings here because I want to improve my English — so I technically wouldn't make this request. But! Someone on Wattpad (where I take requests) asked for the same thing, so I rolled up my sleeves and wrote this guide today in both languages. Enjoy~
1. Don't be afraid of him.
It is said that the first impression is the most important.
So when you first saw this guy walking through the corridor of Diasomnia, it was hard for you to get rid of that view from your head.
Illuminated both by the green magic flames set in the lobby, as well as by the moon, which eventually managed to break through the dark clouds and with a bright glow appear in the windows of the dormitory, he seemed... lonely and beautiful.
You shuddered as you took a step down the hallway and the dark-haired man turned to you. He measured you with his emerald eyes. And then you recognized him; all the conversations about the mysterious and fearsome Malleus Draconia flew through your head.
Everything told you to rush towards the hallway and run as far as possible, but a piece of you found it inappropriate. Or rather, no one would want to chase everyone away from themself... right?
When you realized you were looking at him for a while, you took a deep breath and nod slightly.
"Good evening, Draconia-san," you said quickly. After a while you added, "The moon is beautiful today, don't you think?”
 2. Smile a lot.
Today was a really wonderful day: the test was postponed, your favorite dish was given in the canteen, and for some reason, the last two lessons were canceled – your class had to make just a quick note about a topic and it took less than fifteen minutes.
"Something happened?" Malleus asked, seeing how almost in the jumps you walk past him. When you looked at him, he added, "You smile a lot.”
"I can stop smiling if you want," you made a sad face, but after a while, the corners of your mouth began to tremble uncontrollably and twisted up again. "Oops, I can’t. Today... it was such a good day... that I think I'm slowly using my life's happiness.”
"I didn't say that smiling is bad," he said. "You look so much better when you smile.”
"Oh," you sighed with apparent surprise. "Is it a compliment?"
"It’s rather a fact..?"
 3. From time to time visit him during club activities.
"Is this a class of the ‘Gargoyle research society club’?” with a deaf knock you opened the door. Malleus turned to you, making a break from browsing through the materials gathered in the library about the history of each of the gargoyles on the school grounds. And there were a lot of them.
"Yes," he replied briefly, getting up. "Do you need something, [Name]?"
"Not at all, my club don’t have a meeting today," you said, closing the door behind you.
You looked around: the room was as clean as ever, except for one desk, where were laid several huge volumes about statues in NRC.
“Are you here alone?” You said before you thought. You lowered your eyes to see Malleus nodding unconcerned slightly. You blinked several times trying to think of what else you could say. "This room... could be a secret base," that was the first thing that came to your mind. Malleus turned his head to one side, uncertain of your response.
“A secret base..? Why?”
"I have no idea," you admitted quickly. "But the very existence of a mysterious point is interesting, isn't it? Doing normal things, such as watching movies or just talking, seems more interesting in places like this,” After a moment of silence, you sighed. "You know what, this idea with the base is stupid”
"We can try," he replied with serious tone. You raised your eyes to see how he looked around the room. "But you'll just have to explain this idea to me in more detail. We can also tell Lilia, Silver and Sebek about it...” he smiled as if seeing your five together in his thoughts was a pleasure. "It will be surely... fun.”
 4. Get yourself a Tamagotchi.
"Look!" you spin a new key chain on your finger. You finally stopped and showed it to Malleus. "Now they are matching!”
A small electronic toy, in a dark green screen that, when it flashed, showed a virtual, pixelated animal. You were impressed with how good quality it was made, especially since you only gave the Shroud brothers a sketch of a toy that Malleus owned.
Your keychain was exactly the same, just a different color and with another pet.
Malleus pulled out his own device and put it on the table. He pressed one of the buttons and a small pet appeared on the keychain – a dragon.
"They can now be friends," you brought your toy closer to so-called Gao-Gao Dragon-kun.
"Do you think so?" He asked in a very surprised tone, but it sounded as if in a moment he were about to burst out with an inexplicably joyful and surprised laugh.
"Of course. Everyone needs a decent friend, no?”
 5. Gain the trust of Lilia, Silver and Sebek.
Lilia, one of Malleus' closest people. It is much more likely that you will meet him before Malleus. He will be very proud when he learns that Malleus has found a friend. If you become a taster of Lilia, in terms of his pastries, he will 100% like you, and at 20% you will leave the kitchen alive and well.
Silver, who has mastered the art of sleeping in any conditions. It's easy to get him into your plans, although with the craziest ones he will hesitate. Rather well-disposed towards everyone, he can cover for you when you are not in class— but he usually inadvertently falls asleep and both of you often have penal assignments after school.
Sebek, faithful to Malleus, if he doesn't like you, you won't have too many opportunities to stay by Malleus's side without a thunderous glances at you. He will recognize you if you will listen carefully to his monologues about his master and as a sign of your friendship, he will teach you by heart of all the titles and achievements of Malleus so far.
With this trio by your side, you can get a lot further than you might have imagined...
 6. Be a master in hide and seek.
You’d give your right arm that your breath was too loud.
You pressed your hands to your mouth as you crouched in the corner of the room.
From whose voices you already heard, you knew that Lilia had already found Sebek. This meant that you or Silver would still be helping cook dinner since Malleus didn’t come at the start of the game.
This may seem silly, but the ability to play classic games was one of the elements of the art of survival in Diasomnia.
It was thanks to games like ‘stone-paper-scissors’, hide and seek or tag that household chores fell on the shoulders of the losers. Lilia loved the idea, and there was always a proud smile on his lips when he saw his beloved children play together.
You heard the steps behind you and shivered.
Very slowly you turned around and looked up to see Malleus standing over you and wondering what you were doing, crouching in the darkest corner of the room.
Puns were also included in the survival pack.
Fearing that Lilia would hear your whisper, you put your finger on your mouth, asking him not to say a word. You put a begging eye into it – all but not cooking with Lilia. Not again.
Malleus nodded, recognizing the gravity of the situation, although he smiled.
Really, no one would want Malleus to be an enemy.
Or at least in such a situation.
 7. Do not hesitate to ask him for help with learning.
"In theory, you should focus on the space around you," Malleus pulled a wand in front of him. It flashed, and almost at the same time, a thin but incredibly strong protective barrier was created around him. “Weaker spells can be reflected. In turn, the stronger ones are better to block”
You nodded understandingly.
Defensive magic was not something easy to understand. Most depended on the person against whom the counter spell was being prepared. And there are countless people who walk on this Earth and want to start fights.
"Unique spells block or avoid physically," he continued. You nodded at every subsequent sentence, slowly feeling like all the lessons are eventually gaining transparency. “Using unique magic against unique magic, the stronger will win, both will lead to explosions or completely reduce.
He looked at you when you wrote down the last sentence in your notebook.
"I sincerely hope that you will only need this information in class," he said with a sigh. "If you need help, call me. I will come. I promise.”
 8. Sometimes be persuaded to wear extravagant clothes.
"Do you really think it suits me?" you turned around, looking at yourself from every possible angle in the mirror.
You were going to the theater in a few classes to see some era-related play that you've been discussing now in history lessons. Everyone, respecting the reputation, actions and achievements of theatre, dressed in their best clothes.
Malleus stood next to you.
He was already wearing a black and white outfit with green accessories. They all worked so well together and fitted him like a glove that you were sure that the whole outfit was made especially for him.
"Yes," he replied. "Everything you put on today suited you very well.”
Once again, with critical eyesight, you looked at the outfit, face and hair, before you quickly turned off the lights in the room and closed the door behind you.
Then you smiled at Malleus.
"We can go now," you said. You made your way through the portal to the main NRC building. "And... thank you for your help.
"My pleasure," he said. Under no circumstances was it just a polite formula. He really loved looking at you.
 9. Invite him to your birthday/party.
"Another break from school soon, huh?" — you muttered, leaning against the railing.
You took a deep breath and let the fresh, pleasant air refresh you.
"Are you going to home, [Name]?" Malleus asked. Green lights were still flying around him, so you guessed he’d just appeared here.
"I haven't decided yet," you sighed. "It would be nice to go home, but the break won't be very long... Ah, that's right!” you straightened up and turned to him. "How about spending another break together? As soon as I can, I will contact my family... although I cannot promise anything.”
Though he did not show it, Malleus' heart beat a little faster.
Spend free time? With someone? With someone he likes?
"Of course," he sounded less calm than he thought. He wasn’t often invited anywhere, even for the things he should have been on, so there was a lot of excitement growing in his body. "I don't see anything against it.”
 10. From "The Great Malleus Draconia-sama" to "Love".
"Ah, The Great Malleus-sama!" you sighed theatrically, taking from him a box of chocolates with a joyful smile. You could promise that because of this dark-haired boy here, you slowly become pampered. "Thank you for your generosity!”
Malleus frowned.
"The Great Malleus-sama"..?” he pondered, putting his fingers to his chin. "Did Sebek told you again to call me with this title?"
"No," you laughed softly at his reaction. "I did it out of curiosity. Maybe I could call you some cute nickname, hmm?" you smiled mischievously.
"For example?"
"By adding ‘-chan’ to your name?” you turned on your phone and typed something related to the nicknames. You started reading suggestions and struggled to hold back from laughing. ” ’Sunshine’, ‘star’, ‘flower’, ‘sweetheart’, ‘love’...
"I like the last one," he said, and the invisible force stung you to the ground.
"Would you like me to call you like that? Out of curiosity or out of love?" You laughed, but your cheeks were all red with blushes.
He smiled sincerely at your reaction.
"Hmm, I wonder..?"

When Remus was young— surrounded by the light breeze of the Welsh coast and the harmony of birds chirping in the distance— he would follow his mother to their small garden behind their cottage  at the cusp of twilight as his father cooked their supper, and he’d watch as she laid flat all sorts of newspapers written in French and Arabic and English, watch as she brought her red pen against the ink and marked the articles with underlines and shorthand he wouldn’t understand for years still.
He asked her once, when he was barely eight years old, why she bothered to keep up with so many different publications, why she read the same story penned by countless perspectives when all the facts stayed the same at the end of the day. And he remembers how she had let out a quick, shrill of a laugh, tossing back her golden head while sucking in a puff from the bubbling hookah she had set up besides her— a habit she acquired from her Algerian, refugee parents, and one that became synonymous to those late nights in Remus’s eyes.
“Facts can be wielded to someone’s personal vendettas, Remus John,” she had crooned in that adoring way of hers whenever she spoke to him— honey eyes that were the same color and shape to Remus’s own flashing alight and their matching smiles going crooked in her stunningly beautiful face.
“Oh.” Remus had replied, still confused as all get out but was perfectly fine with just holding his small vigil, watching her beneath moonlight and the soft glow of their outdoors lamps, as he listened to the shuffling of papers while she commenced this odd quirk.
It’s a decade and a half later—  as his editor for the Phoenix, a small, but bustling online editorial that plans on dethroning the likes of Politico and Vox in only a matter of years, scans his latest findings on the corrupt boosters linked to MP Avery from Leeds— when Remus thinks he suddenly understands what his mother, with her keen eyes and pixelated air, had meant by facts in how they can be colored differently simply by the words surrounding them. And he wonders if one day soon, one of his bylines will join her little stack of stories, if she’ll be proud of him even if she says as much even now, when he’s a lost twenty-something stumbling through life in the capitol and barely making it as is, between his actual job and the gig he has at the coffee shop nearest his dingy flat he shares with three other blokes.
“Mmm, this is good, Lupin,” Dorcas declares after what feels like an eon, dropping her long, dark legs from where they were lounging leisurely on her desk and scuffs out her cigarette in a pretty, glass ashtray. “Send it over to Flores to look into deeper, maybe it’ll corroborate the info she’s already gotten from her sources.”
Remus feels himself bristle, hopes that it doesn’t show, that his face stays passive as he contends, “I think I should at least help her write the expose, I’m the one who got this bombshell.”
“That’s not how it works, sweets,” Dorcas toots, tossing back her dark head of curls as she rises, perching on the corner of her desk delicately and looking down, straight into his gaze. “I know it’s frustrating, but you’re fresh blood. barely six months here, but Alice has been with us for years. This is her baby, and we’re just here to nurture it.”
“So I’ll have to wait another ten months, at least,  to get the same treatment?” He argues in an admittedly petulant way, making Dorcas laugh endearingly, and Remus is suddenly,  searingly reminded of his age, and how he’s the youngest staffer that this London based news outlet has on hand.
“C’mon, love, it won’t be that long for someone as sharp as you, just be patient, and don’t try to pull a Zoe Barnes on us, yeah? You’re far too pretty to clean up on the rails of  the tube.” Dorcas tousles a hand into his dark tawny curls, and Remus holds back the roll to his eyes that he feels willing up inside of him as he stands fully.
“Thanks Cas.”
She smiles beatifically, and throws him a wink. “You’re joining Emmy for the report tomorrow on those United footballers and their fundraiser for the hospital, yeah?”
“Bright and early,” Remus replies, still feels a bit miffed that he was chosen to write up the charity function, considering he doesn’t know a lick about football and doesn’t really get on with anyone who does. But Caradoc— their typical sports reporter— is out sick with the flew, so it’s on him. “I’ll have it on your desk early enough so it’ll be published by tea time.”
“Good man,” Dorcas says in thanks, picking up her crowing cellphone before waving him off.
Remus isn’t all that surprised when he strides out of the office only to find Benjy Fenwick sitting against the opposite wall, knees pressed to his chest and quickly scrambling up when he catches sight of Remus. Sometimes it’s impossible to believe that the bespectacled man in front of him is one of the top editors for the Phoenix, that he’s a regular corespondent for places like the BBC or CNN— that his rebukes against the piss poor inquiries waged during PMQs have become more anticipated than the sessions themselves. Remus tends to forget all of that when he sees him like this, messy haired and wearing a graphic T-shirt with some marvel superhero embossed on the front. “Wotcher Remus.”
“Hiya Remus says, smiling softly and rocking back on his heels. “You wanted to talk to the sergeant then?”
“Huh? Oh, no, no. I didn’t want to talk to Dorcas, I just— Erm, I know you were showing her that stuff you got from that intern, Pettigrew, and i know you were chafed about not getting any opportunity here so—“ He trails off, scratching the back of his head and studying a point over Remus’s shoulder, and it’s all too endearing, and Remus is so beyond thankful he’s made such a good friend here.
“No cigar,” he says in answer to the unspoken question, shrugging noncommittally even if he feels like shit over it.
Benjy nods, face contrite in a way that tells Remus he never thought it would’ve went otherwise. “I’m sorry, that’s bollocks.”
“’S whatever,” Remus shrugs off the apology, begins walking down the hall and straightening his report to hand over to Alice.
“Ah,, erm. We can get a drink, yeah? In commiseration,” Benjy offers, and Remus stilts only for a beat before continuing the twisting trail to where Alice is set up with the more senior members on staff. And he feels only sorta bad about wanting to refuse. He knows that if he says yes, it’ll mean something different to Benjy than it does him, that he’ll probably take it as Remus finally giving into his pestering and deciding to actually go out with him, even if he’s refuted the other four times he’s asked as much. Remus’s simply just too busy trying to get a footing in this city, and trying to figure out where he’s suppose to go from here, and what he’s suppose to do. And yes, Benjy is cute— a complete Seth Cohen archetype. And he’s sweet and smart and funny enough. But Remus is really not in the mood for doing the whole flowers and wine and candle lit dinners shtick, had gotten enough of that while still with his university boyfriend. And yeah, he’s only just turned 24, but he already feels too old and too jaded for that sort of puppy love— even if Benjy’s got a good decade and some change on him.
Probably sensing his hesitation, Benjy is quick to rectify the offer. “I’ll ask Mary, and Fabian too, and a few others. We can make a night of it, just some drinks on a Friday after work.”
Stalling by the last turn to Alice’s desk, Remus looks at him from over his shoulder, and sort of hates himself for being such a soft hearted fuck sometimes. “Yeah Benj, sounds nice. Just let me know on the group chat, yeah?”
Benjy grins, much more genuine than his awkward quirk of the lips from earlier. “Yeah, good call, I’ll let the others know pronto.”
“Aces,” Remus says, tosses him a obligatory thumbs-up before finding an expectant looking Alice who’s tapping her foot impatiently.
Yeah, today is so bloody shit.
.-
Surprisingly, the round of drinks turns to another and then a third and fourth and Remus is currently nursing his fifth mango margarita on Benjy’s tab, and he actually feels lighter than he has since taking the job at Phoenix, feels bright and bubbling and like absolutely nothing could be wrong as long as he’s got this drink in his grasp and he’s sitting with the handful of reporters and photographers from the office that don’t all have sticks up their asses. It’s fun, it’s good. So obviously it couldn’t have lasted.
Mary is currently cackling about her Uber driver from last night who asked her all sorts of well meaning, but incredibly dense questions about her hijab— a freshly poured glass of coke in one hand, while the other is tangled into her girlfriend Emmy’s. And From his left Remus can hear Fabian ribbing Frank on his crush on Alice, while Benjy scoots intermittently closer as they watch Kingsley and Marlene sparring over something to do with a Kardashian or TikTok trend or whatever the fuck else— The guy has resilience, Remus has to give Benjy that.
“Right, who’s buying next?” Marlene asks, abrasive as ever while scrolling through her phone, ostensively finding something to prove her point against the managing editor.
“Reckon it’s my turn,” Benjy crows, standing up smoothly and glancing down at Remus with a nervous sort of half grin.
“Just a water for me, ta. I need to sober up,” Remus tells him, feels proud that he didn’t even slur slightly. Benjy bobs his head understandingly, and Remus turns to ask Marlene about her latest tinder hookup which always is a good laugh, but then he catches on it. On the sound of the pub’s doors flinging open, followed by a raucous crowd of athletic looking guys probably only a bit older than he is, clambering indoors.
They’re all so very sixth-form, broad grins and slapping each other’s shoulders with jeers, topped off with loud, bark like laughter that makes it obvious to Remus that these wankers think that they’re some sort of group of gods amongst men, roaming around like everyone should fall to their feet and offer everything they have. It makes Remus roll his eyes so far back that it feels like he might’ve sprained them. They just give off this exhausting aura that reminds him of a past boyfriend in tenth year who was on the footie team and who’s favorite activity was either making Remus feel lucky enough to go out with someone so popular, or dragging him around like some sort of bloody trophy.
To put it nicely, Remus sorta hates them on sight. So when he sees one of the tossers— regrettably the brightest of the lot who’s all pearly teeth, and glittering eyes and incredibly impressive shoulders that tape off to a narrow waste in an objectively infuriating matter— swivels up to the barkeep and jostles Benjy on his way, well Remus doesn’t hesitate to dart forwards to tell him off.
“Oi, watch where you’re going, yeah?”
Benjy and the bloke who looks like he might moonlight as a model for Calvin briefs for when he’s not lounging in a yacht off the Tuscany coast, both turn to him at the same time. Benjy looking abashed, and the aforementioned tosser preening like the cat who’s just caught a canary.
“Sorry, love. Didn’t see you there,” he says in a delightfully deep tenner, giving Remus an appreciative once over, and Remus absolutely despises how the action makes him feel both thrilled and irritated. “Trust and believe, I wouldn’t have looked away if I saw you.”
“Not me, arse.” Remus spits back, refuses to pay any credence to how his cheeks have begun to flush. “You bumped into my mate right there, the one with the tray of loggers.”
The tosser darts his almost molten gray eyes over to Benjy for a sparing second before he laser focusses back onto Remus, the most phony expression of contrition all over his face. “Sorry to your friend,” he says the descriptor like a joke that no one else is in on. “Let me buy you a drink in sorry for the one I made slim here spill.”
Remus is officially unimpressed, hopes that his flat tone gets it across. “You’re an arse.”
“You’re mouthy,” he retorts, looks like it’s something he greatly appreciates— delights over even.
“Ah, ’s fine Remus, really. I’ll just bring these back and get us a new glass.”
“Listen to slim, Remus, he’s got the right idea.” The tosser hurriedly interjects, strutting close enough to him that he makes it so Remus has to tip his head back just slightly so not to drop his gaze. “I’m Black, Sirius Black, just to get the pleasantries out of the way.” His leer tells Remus that the name should probably evoke some response of aw into Remus, but all it does is make him sound so egregiously pretentious that Remus wants to smack his own bloody head against a dry wall and stay in the hole until this ruddy Sirius bloke leaves him the hell alone.
“Good for you,” he says instead of all of that, and spots Sirius’s friends from behind Sirius chuckling and elbowing one another. Evidently this is a line the tosser uses frequently, and Remus is pleased that he might be one of the first who aren’t at all impressed by the grandiose way he introduced himself.
“Hah, you know I’m use to the pretty ones playing hard to get, but I’m really feeling here that you’re not exactly liking my company, love.”
Remus sucks in a frustrated breath through his nose, shouldering past Sirius and taking the tray of drinks from Benjy before storming back to their table where the others have begun openly gawping at the scene— Marlene outright squawking with Fabian just as Remus takes his seat.
“Don’t,” Remus warns them all as he silently says fuck off to the water and instead gargles down one of the loggers. And if he has to steadfastly not turn around for the rest of the night towards where he can feel Sirius’s gaze burning into his back— well then so be it.
.-
The next morning, Remus has to puke twice into the toilet, and gulps down three aspirins just to stave off his bloody hangover from the night before where he decided that getting properly sloshed would prove as a good technique to not end up making out with Sirius in some dark corner— or regrettably the backseat of his car. And if he does still remember flashes of ranting to him about how insufferable preppy, rich boys actually are while Sirius gazed at him endeared— well Remus just decides to purge it out along with the stomach acid. It’s not like he’ll ever see the douche again.
.-
He meets Arthur— one of the accountants who also helps out by taking photos for more low key news stories— outside the hospital where the conference will be taking place with the Manchester United team. There was a scrimmage that they all played with some of the kids in the cancer ward that occurred at around eight in the ruddy morning, but thankfully Remus didn’t have to show up until an hour later when the team presented their big shiny check, to the big, shiny hospital.
However, Arthur has been here for hours, so he’s beyond chirpy and looks like he’s downed three cups of espresso as he chatters on about his son Percy starting secondary school, and his eldest, Bill, getting an award for his reading prowess, and all the strange craving his wife has been having throughout her pregnancy with the twins they’re expecting any week now. And Remus loves Arthur, he does— one of the sweetest folks he’s ever met— but God, his head is still thrumming from those misguided tequila shots and he really just wants to get his three quotes, and write up the story so he can find refuge back in his sheets.
While Arthur has moved to talking about his wife, Molly’s, plans to open up a daycare in their refurnished garage, Remus scans his eyes over the familiar face of reporters from other outlets who look just as bored as him, and then to the stage where a woman in a sharply pressed suit is ushering for the group of football stars to join her, so that the conference can finally fucking begin.
And Remus thinks that their faces are sorta familiar, probably from all the publicity they get on the telly— but then he freezes as he stops at one of them with dark brown skin, and thick rimmed spectacles— and he suddenly can hear him chatting about his redheaded girlfriend and drunkenly declaring that she’ll be the mother of his children some day soon. So he completely expects it when his stomach drops as he moves his glance just a bit to the right, being struck by pearly teeth, and glittering eyes and incredibly impressive shoulders that tape off to a narrow waste, made all the more infuriating by the tight kit he’s got on and the blazing number twelve splayed against his chest.
And fuck.
Remus runs through about a dozen scenarios in which he can make a discrete, or not so discrete exit before he notices him, but in tandem to his spiraling thoughts, the wanker actually looks forwards, and like a creepy metal detector, his quick silver gaze pinpoints onto Remus.
They stare at one another for a beat before his smirk goes wolfish, and he runs a hand through his artfully tousled hair in a way that practically screams, fancy meeting you here. And holy fuck he looks so mouth watteringly attractive with that faint film of sweat running down his neck, and how his smile pulls slightly more to the left, and how he’s looking at Remus like he’s his birthday and Christmas presents all rolled into one.
Remus suddenly hates everything— but most of all hates Sirius, and how bloody fit he is.
“Oh, you’re a fan then?”
Starting, Remus shifts around slightly so that he’s facing Arthur completely. “Pardon?”
“Sirius Black I mean, you’re a fan?” Arthur asks in that abrasively congenial and intensely scrutinizing way that he treats everything. “I mean he’s a great player, but I know you don’t really watch. So I bet it’s all that charity work he does, yeah?”
“Charity work?” Remus echos, feeling like a floundering fish.
“Truly some amazing stuff.” Arthur pontificates, rubbing a hand against his jaw as he tips his head back. “I mean obviously I’m partial to the fundraising for Reporters Without Borders, but of course the things he does with the more impoverished kids is great. And I know Molly likes his very outspoken posts about being anti war and his annual live streams to earn money for refugees in those war torn nations, like the last one he did for Syria?”
“Oh—“ Remus says, feeling like his head is being overrun by a fountain of new information.
“Yes well, you don’t usually see athletes get into the thick of it with political issues, but I reckon he never really minded. I mean the fact he’s the first football star from United to have come out without any fanfare really proved that. Oh, I think they’re starting, I should probably get some photos before Dorcas gives me a tongue lashing.”
And as quick as the flash of his camera’s lends, Arthur is using his considerable height to get to a more advantageous spot towards the front, and leaves Remus in the dust, as if he hasn’t just obliterated his every assumption of Sirius from after that initial meeting.
And unbidden, the words his mother had told him so many years ago, about facts and how they can color a situation just simply based off the person who’s speaking them— flood to the forefront of his mind.
“Fucking hell,” Remus mutters lowly, gets jostled by Greengrass, a hawkish reporter from a rivaling publication who always has on the most wickedly sharp acrylic nails, and perfectly quaffed curls— as she waves around her certification to speak her inquiry.
“My question is for Potter,” she announces when the woman leading the event, McGonagall, points her way. “And I was wondering how early you boys have to rise for training during the season? And how intense the sessions are that Coach Hooch puts you guys through?”
Potter, the one with the redheaded girlfriend that Remus heard so much about last night between his ranting at Sirius, parts his lips, but it’s not his voice that ends up reverberating through the outdoors space. Instead, it’s Sirius, who’s shouldering him with a goading air, obviously expecting his comment to have only ended up in Potter’s ear and not caught by the mike.
“I wonder if Lupin will let me wake up with’m so he can let me get some real training done before practices, eh?”
And just as soon as his words pitter off, the entire crowd drops to a hush— quiet enough so that they could probably hear it if a pen dropped.
Sirius’s handsome face— strong jawline, and broad but sharp cheekbones, and a long, narrow nose— goes suddenly ashen, and he flashes over to Remus as if he’s terrified that he’ll bite his face off.
God, what an idiot.
With a long suffering sigh, Remus plucks out the microphone from a slack faced Greengrass’s hand. “We can discuss the regimen afterwards, Black. Just meet me by the front doors and let your mate answer the bloody question.”
Everyone around them falls into laughter that’s caught between uncomfortable chuckles and amazingly amused cackling, but the only person Remus is paying any mind is Sirius, and how he seems to have gone absolutely incandescent, nodding electrically before miming the zip of his lips and gesturing for Potter to carry on.
Jesus help him, Remus has no idea what he’s gotten himself into.
