I was tagged by @prince-luffy who is a very good egg. Also I'm in a waffling mood so there may be waffling. I might also be drunk.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
25. Eight years of writing. Twenty-fucking-five. That's pretty pathetic lol.
2. What’s your total word count?
112,442. Almost a novel. Probably. It's a lot of cocks either way.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Always Sunny currently, Preacher and Gotham in the past.

All Gotham, although Figure It Out is almost catching up with LSF which makes me happy. There's quite a bit of of novice cringe in that list, so click at your own peril. I guess we all had to learn somewhere.
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Where Did You Sleep Last Night? for sure. Honourable mentions to Comeback Kid and Time to Pretend, though.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All His Suits Are Torn. :)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nah. Never written for a popular enough fandom.
9. Do you write smut?
Does the Pope shit in the woods?
10. Do you write crossovers?
Never fancied it. I've always preferred to stick as close to canon as I can. Alternate scenarios to episodes and scenes have always been my jam.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of. More gifs than I can count though, sigh.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, not that I'm aware of. Years ago someone asked to translate Checkmate (I think?) to another language but I never saw anything of it. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I don't think I ever would have considered co-writing if I'd never met @constant-sinner. Our styles and kinks and preferences just gel so well.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
You can pry Cricksden from my cold, dead hands. A third of their fics on ao3 are mine and that pleases me greatly.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?
Father of All Motherfuckers was my only wip but it got shitcanned because I just didn't have the time (or the ideas, lol). Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth rose from its ashes and honestly I'm happy about that. I really enjoyed writing it. I have toyed with the idea of a set of confessional fics using some of its remnants too, but ehhh. Maybe.
16. What are your writing strengths?
As Raymond says, whimsical blasphemy.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I've never been a fan of dialogue. Some of my stories have masses of it which leads me to believe I was possessed by some sort of loquacious demonic entity at the time. Junkie had zero dialogue and that wasn't even a conscious decision, but goddamn it felt nice.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
If I could speak more than a few words of another language, sure.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Gotham.
20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
Blasphemy (The Victimless Crime). It probably always will be. That fic helped me a lot and led to more fun than I could have ever envisioned. I owe it a motherfucking shitload.

2) what work of yours, if any, are you the most embarrassed about existing?
I’m not embarrassed about it existing, but Nice Guys Finish Last is rough as a bear’s arse and still manages to amass kudos like a motherfucker. That said, it’s now been overtaken by the only fic with a premise that still makes my skin crawl, From Despair to Where. People be nasty. 😂
11) what aspect of your writing do you think has most improved since you started writing?
Well, technically all of it. I knew jack and shit when I started. But, if we’re looking at specifics, I’ve come a long way with regards to unpacking the old thought, or at the very least, I try, lol.
16) are there any characters who haunt you?
Matthew “Rickety Cricket” Mara has not left my stream of consciousness since Blasphemy, and honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
17) if you could give your fledgling author self any advice, what would it be?
It sounds trite but I’d say, “Elaine, my dude, write for you. Even if it’s the rarest of rarepairs, even if it’s Rickety Cricket banging a sex doll in the eye socket, you’ll have a lot more fun if you’re the only person riding the swing in that particular playground."
I wasted a lot of energy getting angry at the Gotham fandom when it grew exponentially overnight because it felt like everything we’d worked towards had been set on fire. And while that did lead to a lot of pushback darkfic (and holy sweet goddamn, was that fun), it was ultimately futile, and it just wasn’t worth getting pissed about. Also, I’d like to think I’ve mellowed over time.
Ultimately: Don’t waste time on universes with no place for you anymore. Create your own. :)
21) what do you think when you read over your older work?
A couple of years ago I reread Checkmate just to see whether or not I hated it. And, glaring squiffy tenses, pov-hopping and epithets aside, I didn’t actually hate it at all. The story really isn’t half bad, it’s just technically rough as all fuck.

I FUCKING HATE NICE GUYS™
This guy omg so I meet him at a fundraiser I covered for work and he's got good conversation so I hang around him all night because everyone else cliqued off and I didn't want to be bored all night. A little too agreeable (I'll come back to that) but nice enough and decently intelligent.
So I leave when I'm done with the coverage and I'm like that is that fun night whatever. He gets my name from the organizers of the event, finds me on Instagram and asks me for my number. Red flag number one my dude if a girl doesn't give you her number you do not find her Instagram to ask for it. Luckily for him I thought he was harmless and nice enough.
So I give him my number and we get to chatting. It's going well, he's nice and intelligent and agreeable. Except now his agreements are contradicting things he said the night we met, so I'm already suspecting that he's trying to get me to like him by being agreeable and not showing me what he actually values and believes.
We talk about hangouts and future plans because well he may be a bit suspicious but being agreeable and finding me on Instagram aren't big enough red flags to put me off of attempting to build a friendship with him. We find out we both love astronomy, and he has a telescope, so he says "imagine a nighttime picnic date where you just look at the stars" and so I very politely say "it sounds amazing, but I feel like now would be a good time to say that I'm aroace and will never be interested in you romantically".
He goes "so dating but not developing feelings" and I say "no dating, just hanging out and friendship". This guy that has been texting me every waking minute for 3 days straight goes quiet for an hour. Then he says "I respect your decision" and starts talking about "hangouts" but they're distinctly date plans. Stuff like giving me a foot massage cooking me dinner giving me wine while I watch TV, so I'm like pulling back a bit because now it feels like he's trying to convince me he'll be a good idea to date. All the while he keeps love bombing me.
He calms down and we get back to our usual conversations, except I'm now mask off spamming this dude about my interests and not asking him about his to try to create the illusion that I'm self-obsessed and inconsiderate to try to put him off wanting to date me. Today he asks if I want to go camping with him and watch a sailboat race. I say I won't be able to make it. Then he asks if our milkshake hangout this Saturday is still on but before I can open the messages he deletes them and says "nevermind don't worry about it" which now tells me he's trying to appear insecure and make me pity him.
I say trying to appear insecure because he was very confident about making very intimate plans before I blatantly shot down the camping trip, so why would he suddenly be insecure about plans we've already made?
Luckily for me I've been manipulated a lot, and I hyperfixated on manipulation, abuse and human social behavior in general as a way to help me cope and to prepare in case it happens again. These red flags are subtle, which is why so many people miss them and end up in abusive relationships, which is why I so often missed them and ended up in abusive situations, but I can spot them now and they are flying proudly all over the place.
