Christmas Eve

Why am I not happy?

‘Tis the most wonderful time of the year,

time for joy, and time for cheer,

yet I feel sad.

My spirits are downcast,

heavily weighed down by things I can’t control

I don’t know why I am so sad.

Today just wasn’t my day,

I’ll try again tomorrow....

I’m Fine (Part 2)

So I whined about always lying-

I’m fine.

What if I didn’t?

Who came up with the rule

always act okay?

If I was given the chance, would I show the world

my pain?

or euphoria?

I couldn’t.

I can’t.

I’m numb:

I feel nothing because I act as though nothing is wrong.

If I could fly with wings like a feather-

I would.

To the heavens,

way up beyond the clouds

‘til I see angels-

and I wouldn’t stop there.

If I could,

but if I could.

I’d plead with the angels to send me to Jesus-

I‘d no longer imagine,

‘cause I’d be in His presence,

if I could,

but for now, I can’t.

If I could nurture my faith, small as a mustard seed,

until it is tall as the tree-

I would-

I can.
