I know that they sat in Aziraphale's bookshop for hours; watched the sun kiss the moon goodbye as they talked and drank and laughed. I know that Aziraphale laughed, and Crowley watched.

"if he could have bottled the sound and got drunk on it every night, he would have."

Those moments felt like forever,

"Do you feel forever about him?" "Yes."

After the armageddon, with his bookshop burned to ashes, aziraphale had nowhere to go. crowley asked him to stay with him at his place.

"What would be easier than getting in bed with you and falling asleep?"

In the paintball field, crowley pushed him against the wall, clutching his coat: Im not nice.

Aziraphale was staring at his lips.

"What would be simpler, than reaching over to you and kissing you?"

The demons attacked, and he didn't care. He asked crowley to dance with him, at a ball inspired by Jane Austin's pride and prejudice: "To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love."

He was in madam Tracy's body, he had worn a new perfume, he had worn an armour covering him from head to toe. And every time, crowley knew. Knew how he felt. Knew the meaning behind his words, his actions.

"I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world."

He fell for him at the beginning; "He falls in love under a sky full of stars."

And yet when he declared his love, baring his heart, what was aziraphale's answer? "It'll pass."

Neil Straightman you are not getting the point!!!

The OP mentioned physical intimacy, not just emotional intimacy. No matter how much you want to claim you wrote A/C as emotionally intimate (and tbh I can agree with you here), you did not write them as physical in any capacity…which strikes LGB viewers as odd considering you threw in a straight sex scene that wasn’t in the book. It’s also super annoying for us to have to deal with this “it’s more deep and special if they don’t hold hands or kiss or fuck” that only seems to come up with gay couples, never with straight couples.

anon, LITERALLY SAME, like, i will NEVER understand. i hope the neil straightman rhetoric someday gets laid to rest

like, this man has been giving the lgbtqia+ community and qtpoc folks representation for longer than some of the people who are upset with him now have been alive. being an ally to us, destigmatizing HIV/AIDS, caring about people, for literal eons

and then, he even acknowledges the ways in which his representation was informed by the content being written originally in the 80s, when things like “they” pronouns weren’t as much of a thing and updates things like pronouns and story content to be more respectful and inclusive

he’s forever taking down racists and homophobes and bigots of all sorts and standing by creating work that offers diverse representation. even back in the DAY he was offending and scandalizing people by staunchly standing by the rep he wrote in sandman while people boycotted his work for being too diverse

the way people come to him with such entitlement just really makes me cringe and boggles my fucking mind!!! people are so UNIMAGINABLY rude to someone who has ALWAYS been an ally to us

asking an author to confirm whether a ship is “canon” in my mind is (at its core) basically asking, “did you intend for these messages that we are picking up to be here in the text?” and neil’s answer on these questions generally tends toward death of the author because he wants people to have liberty to find varieties of meaning in his work. which is GOOD, that’s a good thing, and it allows his writerly creativity to have freedom as well

in terms of finding out whether dreamling was intentional, e.g. did we “read too much” into scenes or were they written through a queer lens? we pretty much got that answer with that article. queerness is ALL over this show and the queerness of dreamling is intentional, which is amazing

dreamling IS real and neil doesn’t have to tell us it is in order to have written a beautiful, moving, romantic story that creates representation for us
