The one who wrote Coraline, and co-wrote the book of Good Omens and made the TV show, also the Sandman comics writer and co-creator who made the Sandman TV show. Quite nice really.
Hi Neil! This is kind of a silly question, regarding an ask you recently got. SInce you said you like the slang word "pookie", who would be more likely to call the other pookie, Crowley or Aziraphale? Sorry to bother you and thank you for your time and hard work.
I'm afraid I'm already way over "pookie". As Gen Z words go, it's really kind of four hours ago. Please do not use it again in my presence.
"In the funny, terrifying, colorful, oddly lovely, lovably odd Dead Boy Detectives, premiering Thursday on Netflix, deceased putative teenagers Edwin (George Rexstrew) and Charles (Jayden Revri) investigate what’s troubling troubled ghosts...."
In this case the word "satirical" is being used to help cover up the existence of the brief Mouse Dynasty, which occurred between the Eighteenth and Nineteenth dynasties, following the death of Pharoah Horemhab and his appointment of the palace Mouse, Pnw I (pronounced penoo) to the throne. Following the death of Pnw XIth, three years later, Ramesses I took the throne and the Nineteenth Dynasty began. Most traces of the Mouse Dynasty were eliminated, but several have survived.

A satirical papyrus showing a lady mouse being served wine by a cat while another cat dresses her hair, a third cares for her baby, and a fourth fans her. The mice have hilarious huge, round ears.
it feels bad to have someone say ‘we will not accommodate your unique way in our space’. that is what the texas library association did to chuck
the thing is, WE have the power to create our own spaces. sometimes that space is SO SMALL, just one cubic foot inside of a pink mask, and sometimes that space is a whole ballroom full of buckaroos cheering and laughing and proving that LOVE IS REAL
thank you to true buckaroos MARK OSHIRO and TJ KLUNE for creating that space with me last night. thank you to NOWHERE BOOKSHOP and BONHAM EXCHANGE and JENNY LAWSON for hosting, and thank you to NIGHTFIRE for going along with this wild idea when chuck said ‘hey if the dang TXLA does not want unique buckaroos inside their convention, then lets have our own across town’
every day there are strong forces pushing back against love, but when we trot together we can make spaces where love thrives
I’m listening to the audiobook of “Graveyard Book.” I wanted to make sure it’s suitable to give a physical copy to my niece who is one year younger than the suggested age, and it is very nice indeed. I plan to buy stardust or something for my other niece. I want to get them hooked on your books while they’re still impressionable lmao
been freelancing at netflix since 2021 and finally got the chance to visit one of their offices - got whiplash when i saw they were playing the dead boy detectives 'meet the characters' trailer i happened to work on! absolutely surreal
that being said, dead boy detectives is coming out tomorrow and i worked on some promotional social assets for it and i CAN'T wait to debrief it with you when it comes out. i don't think i've had such a blast watching a show since forever. only one more day to go!!! (and yes, i was literally counting down days till the premiere so i can finally start yapping about it)
Hey Neil, I have an odd ask about comics. I was just recently in a comic book shop over in Cincinnati, OH, and we were doing the usual talking when you are checking out, and in a new store, and we got to the topic of Kickstarter comic campaigns, and your name was brought up, and how there was one recently for, I believe it was The Good Omens graphic novel, and how the owner of the comic shop wanted to back it, and sell copies in his store, but was specifically told he wasn't allowed to buy retail copies, but BOOK stores were. was wondering if you knew anything about that, or it was something out of your control, or even a different Kickstarter I am thinking of that had that. Just found it weird to hear that, and wanted your take on it, before just accepting the word of a comic shop owner as the whole truth/story.
Thanks for any response!
That's very odd. Comic shops definitely count as bookshops. What's important is just that the recipient is a verified retailer. There's a bookshop tier and a small bookshop tier.
You can now sign up and order copies of the GOOD OMENS graphic novel over on Pledgemanager:
If your comic shop has trouble ordering, have them reach out to the Dunmanifestin folk directly.
Hello Neil! Your post about how Netflix measures a show's 'success' was super interesting and it got me wondering, since you've worked with both, is it the same with Prime? Or what sort of data do they take into account when it comes to renew a show? Have a nice day!
It's similar, but Prime seems a lot more interested in how many people watch the show, and how many viewing hours happen around the world.
