All That's Left follows two journalists and their friends in post-apocalyptic United States as they travel from the fallen east coast megalopolis Opportunity back to Los Angeles, crossing through a harsh wasteland overrun with zombies— only to find out that there is a lot more life left than what the protected cities want them to believe. i KNOW lots of the fandom have dropped off after oots but it is wild to see the newest arc have Bramblestar manipulate a member of his clan into setting up a situation where he can publicly humiliate her and still have people go "well! have we considered sometimes she's reactive and doesn't do everything he says and that actually makes her worse/deserving of this?"

Also anyone know any book podcasts that focus more on analysis/big picture "what is this book saying/what cultural influences or other literature is it engaging with" type stuff? I feel like there is an abundance of podcasts where people sit down and discuss books but avoid spoilers and just give basic "did I like it or not" type info which is not really what I'm looking for atm

the expanse is about naomi nagata actually. it is her story. a woman who had her agency taken away from her and was scarred so much at the beginning of her life that she run from causes and leadership and shut herself out from the world that slowly over the many decades reinvents herself and finds love and her place and faces her past and her regrets and finds a way to live forward anyway despite everything that happens. an oppressed woman who did care about her people but whose trauma made her shy away from violence having to be in constant battle with herself with how much action she can bear to take for her people and for the system. until enough is enough, and as much as she tries to hide she chooses to walk head in a leadership position and make the difficult choices she run from in her past and find a way to make peace with what acts of violence and to what degree she can handle giving when fighting back yet another totalitarian power

it drives me nuts how much suffering we force people to go through to meet some arbitrary idealized standard vs something that'd actually help. they're making my 60 yr old mom with fibro take pain management classes because they're too scared to put her on the prescription pain meds that she was already on before. i just read about someone with adhd talking about how the only med that works really well for them without making them depressed when it wears off or causing anxiety is desoxyn but doctors are too afraid to prescribe it to them because it's technically methamphetamine. the drug war is a complete burden on society
