being an older sibling is so bizarre. i cry myself to sleep and turn myself green over all the experiences and opportunities my sibling gets to have that i never ever will. but at the same time i would chew my own arm off to ensure my sibling gets the best life in the entire world and never, ever has to feel the way i feel and experience the pain i have felt.

got into an incredibly stupid argument on reddit the other day and i kept getting really mad because for some reason people kept acting like i was saying the exact opposite of what i was saying?? shannon had to keep reminding me that most peoples reading comprehension is actually not that great but ooouuuggghhh made me angy.

a bit of an unconventional post but here is rosel!!! struggling princess and novice of void she is my ninjago oc bc ive been infected with deadly oc brainrot disease…
oc ramblings under the cut lel
she is a princess with a tragic backstory . super original i know
in all seriousness she basically conjured up in my head while i was thinking “what could they ever do to recover harumi’s character from crystalized in dragons rising” and it all went downhill from here
she’s super energetic, lively, dramatic, basically a cringe theatre kid who doesnt shut up at all. she loves animals and nature and life and being elaborate and performing and all that jazz.
she’s basically harumi’s surrogate little sister. after being on her own for a bit and traveling all across realms she landed in this weird magical realm (one that i made up. lol) and was taken in by the royal family as a knight (basically) after she brought back rosel when she got lost in the forest. she’s having a terrible time in there BUT she’s staying because… there is a freakazoidal organization trying to take them down. super original once again.
harumi feels like shes sort of called to do something about it to somehow atone for her wrongdoings but she doesn’t want to do any more than she has to aka she doesn’t want to get close to rosel bc shes obviously very Not right in the brain and also because of her past
rosel originally had an older sister who was supposed to be the actual heir to the throne and she was totally chill with that! she liked to just have a second say in important stuff and do a lot of commercials like that was her whole thing and she enjoyed it. then her sister got assassinated so now she has to be the one to worry about everything and just be an heir all of a sudden. this is part of the reason why she got very easily attached to harumi and harumi knows this and understands what’s going on in rosel’s brain because a losing family then getting badly attached to someone bc you think they can fill that hole in your heart?? yeah not cool
doesnt help that harumi currently hates herself and thinks shes the worst person in the world (tbf she did do All that.) but the difference is when she was being unhealthily attached to garmadon he mistreated her BAD but here harumi actually tries protecting rosel and gets unfortunately attached as well which sucks! it’s like that grumpy old man adopts daughter trope except it’s a ~20 yo girl and a little sister
before she died rosel swore she hated her sister and they would fight allll the time. older sister (havent decided on a name) is really strict and pressured to do all her work as an heir and the oldest princess and i could go into more detail abt their relationship but just think oldest sibling vs youngest sibling shenanigans. theyd fight abt how rosel would never understand the pressure of being the heir in their political cilmate thing (yeah the made-up realm is going through it) but too bad so sad she got executed in front of literally the whole kingdom.
after a surprisingly short while rosel gets back on her feet after her sister’s death but shes just fakering oops. she has a bunch of bottled up issues but it’s ok! it’s ok!
also shes the elemental master of void. oops
this one is fucky wucky complicated but BASCIALLY my bs reason for her little mary sue op power is bc time twins were stuck in that weird time vortex all throughout everything And then the merge happened and the merge’s weird elemental energy whatever caused the time vortex and the twins’ elemental powers to get weird and because time is being messed up reality can be messed up and so this basically broken version of the time element gets transferred onto my girl rosel as if it was a regular degular elemental power which sucks bc it’s even harder to use and control and she doesnt even know how to fight so shes just struggling
she finds this out while on a journey with the ninja and harumi. like if it was a season itd be like episode 15+ she finds out. this is because she accidentally caused an important artifact to disappear out of nowhere, got sad about it bc she messed everything up, and then she accidentally makes a whole bunch of stuff (including living things) disappear too. yikessss
she doesnt want to hide it she tells the ninjarumi right away and theyre all like What the hell and shes freaking out but after some help she can at least keep herself from destroying literally everything.
until she messes up gets mega emotional loses control of her everything and starts voiding a bunch of stuff so she gets even more stressed which makes her void even more stuff and now shes basically destroying the kingdom shes been trying so hard to be able to rule. ooooopsies
after a whole thing with the power of siblingship and empathy harumi snaps her out of it and now shes absolutely baffled with what shes done and is a bit crazed abt the whole thing. bc of this she decides it’s best to train with the ninja (idk if she actually becomes one) so she can use her power better. btw harumi was able to snap her out of it and give her a hug without being voided because a) power of friendship and b) overlord resurrection she’s literally dead inside She basically is already voided in a way
so thats basically what goes on very sorry this is too long but i hope it all makes sense… i swear her story is better than the way i explained it (or maybe it’s not idk) i just have many MANY MANY thought abt her! i might ramble even more in the future so be cautioned. thx

Okay disclaimer first Rena is sooooo self indulgent like. Deeply mary sue oc that i have stuck into canon events because im already cringe enough to make a one piece oc i might as well go all out on it. I deeply deeply hope this doesnt show up in any actual op tags but if it does i Apologize please just scroll by fjdnxnx
OKAY SO DONQUIXOTE RENA.... Is the daughter of Rosinante and a different less important oc named Seraphima. Rosi is the brother of a major one piece villain named Doflamingo. Theres like a whole arc i wont get into cause its not important for this mess but Doflamingo killed their father like. Right infront of Rosi when they were kids. Rosi ran away and was found by the Fleet Admiral of the marines, Sengoku. Sengoku raised Rosi like a son. Later on when Rosi is older he is sent on an undercover mission to take down his brother. During that he finds the young traumatized character Law, redirects all his energy into saving and protecting him. Which he does but Doflamingo kills him for it.
SO WITH THAT BRIEF RUNDOWN OUTTA THE WAY. Rosi left on his mission to take down Doflamingo shortly after Rena was born. This was to be his last job as a marine, then hed retire and raise his daughter with his wife and all would be great. Obviously this did not happen. However, Doflamingo didnt know Rosi had a family- if he did he probably would have hunted them down and killed them too. So to prevent this, Renas mom changed their last name to hers and enlisted Rena into the marines so she could be on the "good" side. She became Sengokus like.. right hand, being his basically granddaughter and all. And she was a prodigal shot too. She rose through ranks and made a name for herself pretty fast.
But she was very conflicted about the whole thing. She knew of her father, probably wrote to him or spoke to him on the phone (the snail???). But she never met him. The first time she ever actually saw him in flesh was his funeral. And yes Doflamingo did that, and she deeply hates him for it. But also.... Who the hell sends a new father on a mission like that? She cant help but feel that its the marines fault she never got to meet him. Just as much as its Doffys. And that feeling only intensified when Doflamingo was welcomed under the Marines wing as a warlord, and she just had to sit silently and accept that. Over the years too, since she was always by the fleet admirals side, she heard a lot more of the marines less heroic dealings. Like defending slavers in Sabaody (which is also the first she ever really started to look at Kidd and Killer hehehe). All of this culminated in the war at Marineford, where she just couldnt accept this absolutely useless war where marines were slaughtering a man who just wanted his son back. So when Shanks showed up to stop it, she approached him and offered anything she could give to just have a lift to the next island. Shanks loves raggedy ass kids so he was like lol yeah and smuggled her outta Marineford. Thus she gained her first poster, not a wanted poster at all but a missing poster for Vulpes Rena. She hated it.
Anyway Shanks drops her off in the new world. Hes nice and all but he has no room for a newbie ex marine on his crew. Good luck kid! But that's fine, Rena had her eyes on joining the Heart Pirates, captained by Law. She recognized the name from some reports she found in Sengokus desk from her father. So she knows he has some kind connection, and she wants to know what it is. By some divine providence she does end up finding him, and convinces his first mate (my friends oc lol) to take her to him to talk. Law accepts her as soon as he finds out shes Rosis kid. Feels he owes it to her, since he kinda led to her dad dying and all.
The two end up with a sibling like relationship. Like refer to eachother as brother and sister, since Rosi was definitely adopting Law if all had gone according to plan. When Law leaves to face down Doflamingo, Rena follows because god damn it you are NOT telling her she cant get a punch in on the man who shot her dad. And she does get a shot in!!! And then promptly gets her ass handed to her cause like girl lmao. Still. Bonding time for her and Law lmao. Luffy eventually defeats Doffy and afterwards she takes her (Rosis) last name back. Shes Donquixote Rena, thank you very much!
In Wano her mission was to keep an eye on Basil and figute out what he was doing and thats when she met Killer officially ooooOooOOoooOo. Tbh im still working on that part in my official canon but idk they make out, get arrested, meet back up with Kidd, make out again. Etc
Lets see other Rena facts...
- She is so fucking clumsy. She inherited it from Rosi. Her crew makes her keep a life ring with her on deck cause she constantly topples over the edge and cant swim
- Shes a devil fruit user!! The Calm Calm fruit (also Rosis lmaooo) which means she can make anything in a radius around her or anything she touches completely soundless. Been trying to work out an Awakened version of it cause shes due for a powerup but cjdnd
- Shes a marksman/sniper! She has on her person at all times atleast two pistols, and will usually have her rifle "Silent Night"
- She eventually joins the Kidd Pirates to be with Killer (and Kidd) and is their ship doctor (she picked up a few things from Law and well... They cant do much worse)
- She loves pop music its so embarassing
- I gave her my fear of albatrosses. Get wrecked pirate girl
- she has a playlist but its a huuuuge work in progress lmao

i have to admit this show charmed me. its not the best thing ive ever seen but its nice. comfy. yknow? i haven't finished it but it's enjoyable. can't rank it higher until i finish it
8. sabikui bisco (2022)
if it werent for the positively nonsensical jump in the middle of the show and the way theres just like. a lot of gaps? it’d rank higher. it’s a very cool premise for a show and i like the bisco/milo dynamic, and [SISTER] is fun as hell. it didnt wow me though overall, and while i enjoyed it i was hoping for more.

im sorry trigun stans i simply didnt love it. i see the appeal i really do but it just didnt hook me. i really liked the animation and the storyline. im intrigued by whatever the fuck is going on with those plants and yall have said theres a tallgirl in the next season? so i’ll keep watching. i just didnt love it
6. that time i got reincarnated as a slime (2019-2021)
in contrast to #7, i can see why this show is weak HOWEVER i just enjoyed it. i like it. huge fan of how much gender the protag has. i love how they get new powers. i enjoy that it can be interpreted as an extremely bisexual show. it was well paced and the slime diaries OVA was a great addition. a lot of the characters really stuck with me too and its like. idk. one of my favourite isekais i guess
5. buddy daddies (2023)
this should rank higher. its so fun. its SO fun. its silly and it doesnt take itself seriously. i laughed in every episode. the dynamic between the guys is great. the dynamics between them and the kid is great. just a really solid show if you can stand the queerbaiting. i dont even care
4. bocchi the rock! (2022)
the bocchi side of tumblr is right this show rules. i like how real bocchi’s social anxiety feels (literally how it felt when i had it). the characters are entertaining, the show’s well done, they even have solid music (which band-based shows dont always do right!). its really funny and its really earnest and its a joy to watch
3. demon slayer: swordsmith village arc (2023)
i included the entertainment district arc in last year’s list so this arc makes the cut. im always late getting around to watch the new stuff and i dont want to read the manga but god DAMN does this show hit different. incredible fight scenes. i loved everything they did for the hashira backstories. i love whatever the fuck is up with genya. it even gave me some akaza to sustain me for the next year or whatever. ik this show gets overhyped but its normal hyped. to me.
2. frieren: beyond journey's end (2023)
oughhh frieren… ive only known this show for a few months but it means to much to me… i dont even wanna talk about it because its so good i just wanna watch it again. go watch frieren if you havent already its anime of the decade. to me
1. gundam: the witch from mercury (2022-2023)
ive never seen a gundam before but i will be watched them after this! what can be said about it that hasnt already been said on this site. the romance storyline is impeccable, the fights are awesome, the moral questions it posed were excellently covered. by the end of the first episode i was speechless. by the end of the last episode i'd cried like 4 times over the course of the show. this thing made me cry to happy birthday. what the fuck

what's your take on blemmy's self-confidence (or lack thereof)? every time we get a peek at her inner monologue it seems like she's beating herself up for not being good enough, but her story up thru the major seems to be one of kicking ass and showing up all the haters. i can't decide if it's just because she's measuring herself against legends or it's plain old imposter syndrome
seeing her start to accept herself more in her op record makes me happy~~
personally I believe it is both
A young adult trying to figure out her place in the world and who she is but all that is amplified by everyone bringing up
that she isn't her sister. HELL it doesnt help that readers themselves interpret maria as being innocent and bubbly somehow
despite literally seeing her struggles in figuring herself out. (tangential sorry)
I'm sure alot of the scolding she got during her event didn't help. I've talked with a friend about this, but Sona and Marge are fighting for a distant goal something that barely exists in some people's minds. but when Blemmy shines brightest is when she has something real and something to fight for right in front of her

Gale Reviews: Prey 2022
(Thanks to @knightsweeties for this magnificent specimen)
So I have finally gotten around to start watching the Predator movies and I found out that there was a recent one called Prey.
So I had to have a watch.
And because my friend requested it. I will do a review. So I will divide it up into the following catagories
The Plot
The Characters
The Predator
The Action

The Plot
Its a prequel to the other Predator movies. Taking place in the early 1700's in Great Plains. Where the Comanche tribe thrived. Our heroine Naru is a young woman trained as a healer that wants to be a hunter like her older brother, Taabe. After seeing some lights in the sky she believed it was time to go through her trial to prove herself.
She jumps on the chance when she hears that a cougar had taken one of the tribes people, using this as her chance to prove herself. But while on route she notices some tracks that are much larger and MORE dangerous.
While attempting to hunt the big cat, Naru gets knocked out when she was distracted, convinced that there is something FAR more dangerous out in the wild. She decides to go investigate after recovering from her previous scrap.
It was in that excursion that she finds herself fighting a bear and nearly dying only to be saved by the thing she was searching for, the predator (a far less high tech one then we are accustomed to.). In her attempted escape she ended up trapped by French fur traders, who want to catch this monster, but show themselves as arrogant and just as cruel (as what they do to the animals they kill, stripping their hides and leaving the meat to waste.)
Naru reunites with her brother and they both see first hand how dangerous the Predator is and know they must take down this hunter before it hunts them.
Though it cost her a lot and the life of her brother, Naru was able to use everything she learned to hunt the Predator and get home to warn her village that they needed to leave.
The plot is pretty straight forward and simple, but it is never boring. The story takes its time exploring Naru and how she views the world. It also shows the wilderness around them. I also liked how it showed Naru LEARNING and improving as the movie went on. She comes into her own and the ending was satisfying.
overall 9/10. It isnt ground breaking but it does everything it needs to do, and it does it very well.

The Characters
Naru: She is an interesting protagonist. She is really interesting to watch and you get to see the world through her perspective, she is talented but she doesnt fit into the mold of the typical hunters of her tribe. She is observant and quick, she used the enviroment and everything to give her an edge. She isnt perfect with no flaws, she gets distracted, she has an ego of her own, she even overestimates her capabilities. but she understands that people like her mother are coming from a place of care and not spite or cruelty like some of the other members of her tribe. She is a breath of fresh air from how recent live action protagonists in movies have been. She isnt super strong, and her flaws arent she just needs to accept how OP she is. No, its her accepting she isnt like the other hunters and needs to lean on what she is good at, and THAT is compelling.
Naabe: The older brother and great hunter. He is a great hunter in his own right, he also knows when to use different methods as he understands that the point of hunting isnt just to hunt, its to come back alive. Naabe knows his sister's desire to be a hunter, and is more than willing to assist her and even gave her multiple chances. But after the wild cat fiasco, he is understandably against her being a hunter. After they reunite being captured by the french fur traders do they get the heart to heart and Naabe reveals that he knows the Predator that is there cant be taken down in the traditional way, that they need one of Naru's plans. His end was like that of a great warrior, givign his sister a chance to escape and eventually take down the Predator.
The other characters: In truth the rest of the cast was pretty much standard for the roles they needed to play, the other hunters were arrogant and needed to be to become fodder. The fur traders were cruel and greedy which made their deaths satisfying, but they also showed cleverness with their traps and one even taught Naru how to use a gun which was crucial in the fight with the Predator.
Overall a solid 8/10. I do wish we got more of the mother and what the deal was with Naru's dad. But the characters played their rolls and Naru and Naabe were solid.

The Predator
Now what is a Predator movie without the Hunting Juggernaut.
Now this Predator was showing much lower tech than the standard Predators that we have seen in the past, BUT even with less typical tech this guy was still a MONSTER
I think this is my favorite design for these alien hunters. Its bare bones on the tech end. It shows how IMPOSING these hunters are. They are Apex Predators for a reason. What sold me was watching how easily he ripped that bear apart.
This predator also wasnt as invincible as the other ones we've seen. He took damage from traps and even a coyote, but that is also what made hims seem so damn deadly. He TANKED SO MUCH DAMAGE, including a shot to the back of the head point blank. The only thing that took him down was his OWN tech!
He was an early version of the Predators, but damn if he wasnt a beast in his own right.

The Action
The Choreography in this was very impressive. Even from the minor skirmishes of the Predator vs the Coyote. You can tell that the fights were made to do two things. 1. Show how deadly the Predator is, or 2. Show how resourceful Naru is. And they succeed. One of my favorite fights has to be Naru vs the Bear. We see how resourceful she is, and how she is able to avoid the bear. Now the question is if she would have made it out without the predator taking the beast on himself.
But the climactic clash between Naru and Predator was nothing short of Cinematic poetry. The back and forth, Naru using EVERYTHING she learned just to stay in the fight with the predator, and the predator just keeps TAKING the damage and isnt stopping. Its such an impressive and yet fun scene. My only problem with it is the lighting was abit hard to see near the end. But the glowing blood did help.

Overall I think the film is a solid 9/10
It is probably my favorite of the predator movies I've seen. It makes the characters credibly and fun to watch and has the Predator be a legit threat.

BUD !!! I got excited and drew him he really is my Default guy i draw when im doodling
AND a quick little walking sprite i made when i was briefly thinking about teaching myself game development lmao
His Full name is Bud Roase he is so gay and trangender (no-op) and picked his name on super purpose. Bud is a demi-god of light and thus is quite a few hundred years old. He had the bulk of his power stolen from another god that then went to create the isolated race of starlings that Sterling is a part of. He found Sterling lost and offers to help him get back home, omitting the part where he's wanting to use this as a chance to kill the god to get his powers back.
He's really autism and generally has an air of teasing flirtatiousness. He talks pretty monotone and straight to the point. Over his time alive he's picked up a lot of random hobbies and his most current is boating. He's really attached to the distant family he has from his sister from when he was mortal and keeps in touch as that weird uncle who doesnt get older ever.
He is so willing to steal stuff. There is a cannibalistic weird little guy who has beef with Bud bc he didnt let the freak eat his baby niece. It takes Sterling to help him reconnect with a love of the world again as he's been alive for too damn long just fucking around and he lost that. He's lost in the world in general. He's always planning but never getting anywhere.
I like to project onto Bud a lot he is sweet he's transgender he's blunt but so caring he loves people and love as a concept but doesn't think he is worth having it and does not know how to handle it when Sterling shows more than superficial interest in him. He is also concerned about the power dynamics in place since. While it was not him that made Sterling's people exist, it was still his powers that made it happen. i like him. hes got dilemmas. i spin him around in my head like a toaster oven. here's another a Him ft a genuine smile for your time

I originally named her "Moonlight" (bcs she was very moonthemed), and eventually gave her the nickname "Lilly". During a multitude of character revisions (all within like 2 years of making her), I dropped her original full name, as well as one the L's.
Her current full name, "Lilium", comes from the Elfen Lied OP |D

Once when she was twelve, a friend mentioned that she taught there was a monster in the corn fields. Lily, 0 fear and Super Interested in monsters, went in to look for it.
And she found it!
And though she doesnt remember much of it afterwards, she holds it as her bestest memory.

She has 0 control over her Shadow Powers and during a particularly dark night (new moon), she got stuck in an intangible shadow person form. Unable to be heard or seen by anyone else, it was the most isolated she had ever felt in her life. It is probably the one and only time she had a panic attack.

I change Lily's design like a girl changes clothes. I barely ever drew her the same to begin with, and overal she's gone through a few major redesigns, and plenty of smaller ones.

Believe it or not; a dream.
It was a weird ass dream not at all related to Sonic but it featured a sort of moon spirit and my brain was just "I like her" and tried bringing her to the waking world with limited success.

I’m so tired of people trashing the dark pictures anthology because they’re blinded by their until Dawn nostalgia glasses.
Like just say you’re bad at these games and don’t like them because you don’t pay attention and move on. Maybe actually collect clues and analyze hints as opposed to being lazy and you’ll enjoy them
I’m convinced the Until Dawn fanboys don’t like decision based games- considering UD only had about 3 decisions that impact the story. Not saying I dislike until dawn because I do like it, but if I see one more person say “iT dOeSnT fEeL lIkE UnTiL dAwN” I’m going to scream. Go play until dawn???
You’re allowed to subjectively dislike the games… but not if you don’t put in the work. Maybe it sucked simply because you and your choices sucked.
Man of Medan was fantastic. It was scary, and it was the first game to emphasize co op. If you played this game solo your first time, that’s your fault. Sure, the twist can be seen coming if you’re paying attention. However, I’ll never get over my friend killing me and me thinking I died to the grim reaper. It was awesome. The number of endings, the plethora of different paths, and the overall setting were spectacular. People have complained about the twist without knowledge of the story of the Ourang Medan or the movie Ghost Ship. Would you have preferred a direct copy of something that has been done before? The criticism of MOM is completely invalid. Plus, the dark pictures anthology plays on ALL horror tropes. Biological horror is still horror and that doesn’t make it bad writing.
Little Hope has a special place in my heart. Again, people are up in arms about the monsters not being real as if anything would have made sense if they were. The bus driver is haunted by the death of his family in a house fire he caused and tried to blame his little sister. He does this by creating a false narrative in his head of Megan being evil and the witch trials were a perfect metaphor for the events taking place. The locked traits need to be removed because he needs to remember his family by their good traits and be able to forgive himself and put the past behind him. That’s why if the characters don’t face their own demons- they die in the house. It’s not rocket science if you collect the clues and pay attention. But these streamers like to have a cash grab with these games by rushing through making stupid choices and bashing the game and I’m really over it- I’ve had to unsubscribe from so many people over this. Little Hope’s endings are deep and sad- so is the story with Megan, again, if you’re actually being mindful. Those who don’t like LH are too dense to understand it.
House of Ashes hasn’t received as much hate seeing as the whiners finally got their real monsters, however, I did see a reviewer call the game racist which is unfounded and ignorant of the times it was based. The story here is immaculate, and if your choices caused the characters to be unlikeable then maybe make better choices. Salim and Jason have a wonderful friendship and the dialogue is immaculate.
The Quarry could have had more jumpscares and I’m sure they lowered that because people are never pleased. However the quarry is my favorite game because it truly feels like my decisions matter and after seeing just how many routes there Are in this game, I love it more and more every day.
Im worried about the future of these games being in the hands of an audience which doesn’t know how to play them
