Rating Non-Disney Animated Horse Designs

I’m back by popular demand/well not really but my optimism’s grand

A sequel to my Disney horse Rating post for all the other random non-Disney horses. Dreamworks, Bluesky, random cartoons, anything I could find. Featuring: Altivo, Spirit, some Barbie horses, and a few abominations.

Horse (Sing)

6/10 I don’t hate it and I feel like I should because it’s really hard to anthropomorphize horses that much without making them into the stuff of nightmares.

Shadowfax (The Lord of the Rings)

5/10 There’s nothing WRONG with him per se, but it’s SHADOWFAX. Lord of all horses. He should wow me, and he doesn’t. Check out Gandalf’s weird sock-boots though.

Hervé (Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper)

-6/10 Horses' mouths don’t look like that. Horses’ mouths should not look like that. This thing wants to eat human flesh but can’t because it has two solid curved huge teeth with no physical relationship with its jaw. Also this horse has the beginnings of male-pattern baldness.

Princess Brietta (Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus)

1/10 Her eyes are flat like they’ve been painted onto her socketless skull. And there’s something very off-putting about this shade of pink.

Beauty, Merry Legs, Ginger (Black Beauty)

4/10 Ginger isn’t ginger. That is not a sorrel horse. There’s ONE requirement. Beauty’s the best of the three which is I guess what counts.

Hans, Klaus and Greta (Ferdinand)

2/10 I hate them so much. The core design isn’t that bad but the way they move and pose is. No horse should make that face. The one on the left is stretched putty.

The Grand Chawhee (All Dogs Go to Heaven)

I know what you’re thinking-- “isn’t that a mule or a donkey of some sort?” No. He’s a racehorse. Maybe a thoroughbred. And it’s his birthday so the other horses let him win.

1/10 She gets one point for being nice to Chawhee. But she’s clearly some sort of alien giraffe hybrid.

Odette’s horse (Swan Princess)

7/10 Just a nice little palomino design.

12/10 Amazing. Look at the determination.

Buck (Barnyard)

2/10 See this is what that horse from Sing COULD have looked like.

The Horse in the Back, Not Klaus But I Couldn’t FInd a Better Picture (Klaus)

9/10 He matches his owner and I respect that

4/10 This is horse is voiced by Kelly Clarkson. That has nothing to do with her rating, I just thought you should know.

8/10 for both. I have questions but I do not want answers. It’s better this way.

Fred (Over the Garden Wall)

7/10 don’t love that his head is a different color than his body in a weird way but he looks neurotic and fun.

The Chariot Horses (Prince of Egypt)

8/10 I’ve just always liked these guys with their square faces and fun hats.

Altivo (The Road to El Dorado)

7/10 Look at the little curl in his mane. Good personality. A little too much “Dreamworks Face”

Donkey in Horse Form (Shrek 2? one of the Shreks)

3/10 Look at his face. I DREAD what he might have to say.

Esmeralda, Esperanza, Ernestina (Madgascar 3)

2/10 They’re coming for you. Coming to drag you into the Abyss.

Police Horse (Madagascar)

7/10 I like his face shape. Compare him to the Madgascar 3 horses-- look how much more identifiable as a horse he is.

Melvin (The Lorax)

10/10 He’s not a horse, but he’s so fluffy I love him.

Babieca (Puss in Boots)

4/10 This horse has dead eyes.

Onyx (Rise of the Guardians)

13/10 She’s the leader of the nightmares and I would fully support her terrorizing the dreams of children. I’m pretty sure she and her mares ate the boogie man. A true Girlboss.

Yi Min (Kung Fu Panda but I think just an online game)

-20/10 Just from a design perspective there’s far too much going on so it’s hard to even make it all out. Also I would have zero idea that this was a horse if the wiki page didn’t tell me it was. It has split hooves?

Spirit Jr. (Spirit: Riding Free)

8/10 Objectively I know the design is good but my heart rebels against this show’s existence.

Boomerang Thomas Stone (Spirit: Riding Free)

8/10 I’m not doing all the horses from this show but I had to throw him in because he’s cute and he has a middle and last name for some reason.

Horse (Centaurworld)

Why are there two distinctly different designs for her? This one gets a 9/10. The round one is like... a 5. All the other creatures in this show are eldritch abominations that will haunt me in my sleep now.

Esperanza and all the other horses from this movie (Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron)

10/10 No notes. Perfect horses.

Rain (Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron)

15/10 I don’t have a joke here I just really like the way they differentiated her and made her pretty without too much anthropomorphizing. I like that she has a roman nose. I like her feather.

Spirit (Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron)

100/10 He’s everything. He shaped me as a person. No other animated horse can compare.

Sorry I'm replying so late, anon. I had a harder time, but I'm back now :)

My Normaler headcanons:

1. My favorite headcanon is that Onceler hates horror movies and Norma loves them. Onceler once tried to impress Norma by watching a horror movie and ended up having to sleep cuddled up next to her for weeks.

2. Onceler liked to play with Norma's hair.

3. Norma was the first person he showed his green outfit to.

4. They often spent time just sitting next to each other, him playing the guitar and she reading book.

5. Onceler tried to teach Norma to play guitar.

6. Onceler was an overprotective type because he had never been in love and Norma was the first person who cared about him, so he was afraid if he did something wrong, she would abandon him.

7. Onceler believed in horoscopes and looked to see if his zodiac sign and the Norma matched. If not, he was angry and said that horoscopes were not true at all. If yes, he was happy and said something like that horoscopes always tell the truth.

8. When Onceler became rich, he became a better flirt and romantic for Norma. He gave her many gifts even though she said she didn't want that much from him.

9. Their relationship was healthy at first, but then it became more and more toxic.

10. The old Norma and Onceler's relationship was back and much healthier than when they were young.

11. Onceler wrote a song for Norma.

12. Onceler fans were jealous of Norma and Onceler's relationship.

13. They often danced together, but after Onceler's transformation, they did it less and less often

14. People in town were shocked why Norma was dating a weirdo who was trying to sell them something.

15. Onceler fell in love with Norma very quickly because he had never felt anything like this in his life.

16. When Onceler fell in love with Norma, he listened to love songs all the time, watched and read romance novels, daydreamed, sweated at the sight of Norma, etc., and the Lorax thought it was some serious disease.

17. Onceler would sometimes say something so romantic that Norma would be shocked and blush.

18. They liked to watch the stars together.

19. When Norma didn't kiss him goodbye or something, Onceler was afraid he had done something wrong.

20. Onceler just liked to watch and admire Norma.

21. Norma liked to see Onceler focused because she thought he looked "handsome".

22. Norma loves to tease and flirt with Onceler and he is always so nervous.

jean's first year in usc was very rocky for one too many reasons but a good part of it was because jeremy 'i want you to love exy and have fun soooo bad' knox reminded him way too much of kevin when they were younger

although i think they'd argue often i'm also of the belief that they'd solve most of their arguments pretty quickly. if only because jean is in the habit of being annoyed by kevin and kevin is in the habit of smiling so cute and so pretty until jean forgets he didn't wash the dishes or feed the cats

jean is the servicest top to ever service top. you can disagree but you're wrong

even decades after evermore jean still wakes up at ass o'clock. he is both a morning person and incredibly self-disciplined so to him it's nothing at all to wake up at five every day. kevin is the exact opposite. their morning routine includes jean bodily picking kevin up from bed and putting him in the bath most mornings

kevin is REMARKABLY softer on jean in nearly all aspects of life. they would do a great job at hiding their relationship from their respective teams if it came to it, but the first time jean visited psu after they started dating kevin smiled (!!!??) and asked how his day was and every fox in the vicinity knew instantly

following on the previous one the foxes are always very offended by this. kevin often and unrepetantly gives jean a thousand concessions he would otherwise call them idiots for, praises him for a job well done all the time, worries and cares for him like every paper cut is a lasceration. everyone hates it when jean comes to visit because kevin gets so WEIRD

no one in the history of ever has doubted jean is kevin's favorite. no one but neil josten with a jealous streak

My Doctor Who/Onecest crossover theory

Buckle up bitches, this is gonna be a long one. (thanks to @thneedvillle for helping me form this theory!)

This thought occurred to Onecest-obsessed me while wondering how two versions of the Onceler can exist simultaneously. That made me think of one of my favorite shows, Doctor Who. In my theory, the Doctor accidentally traveled to another universe (the Lorax movie's world). While attempting to get back, he accidentally messed with the time in that universe and Oncie and Greed ended up in the same time stream. They fell in love without even realizing they were the same person, and at some point they found out but decided to continue their relationship. The Doctor knew they were the same person all along, but he wanted them to figure it out for themselves because they'd hate each other if they knew in the beginning. Oncie would hate Greed for what he's become, and Greed would hate how Oncie's choices created him. The Doctor wanted them to get to know each other first so Oncie's love could rehabilitate Greed (cliche, I know). The two ended up begging the Doctor not to fix the timestreams, and he carefully calculated it to see if two versions of the Onceler existing at once would be safe. After he realizes it wouldn't be, he compromised by taking Greed and Oncie to their own universe where they can live together without threatening time itself.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie review

Okay, so honestly it was a great movie!

The plot was simple and direct and the flow of the plot was actually really good considering what's going on (more under readmore but it's all spoilers so heads up)

the voice acting was amazing (they did Chris Pratt dirty in the trailer he was honestly not bad at all - I'll admit when I'm wrong) and Jack Black was PERFECT! Peach was great I liked her as a character. And I loved Toad!

The animation was really stellar! it was very clean and the effects were just *chef kiss* very good. Illumination is really a great studio (they just need to pick better-written movies but they have some gems like Despicable Me (1st one) The Lorax, which I really liked).

Honestly... a 10/10

I didn't see many flaws at all with the movie considering the plot is simple (which isn't a bad thing at all) it was a great movie for this movie and given the source material. Any critiques I have is personal preferences so it's not far to lower the score just bc of that.

I'm gonna go into detail here and so spoilers lol

There are very minor critiques but honestly, given that the plot and it's the first movie, many of my critiques are more preference than actual flaws of the movie. A lot of gushing so much of this detailed review is that lol

Plot:

As I was saying, very simple and direct. Mario lost his bro Luigi, and he needs to find and save him, he teams up with Peach and Toad. Bowser is taking over with the power of the power star and Luigi happens to be captured by him and his army. It's a race to save Luigi and stop Bowser.

Very clean cut and to the point. If they make more I hope for more detailed plots but this was a perfect first movie. It introduces the characters without being all "You know who these's guys are!" bc this is for both old fans and new fans (aka children who maybe didn't grow up playing any Mario games). Loved the music and the references a lot, they were so natural lol

I was almost a little worried about the pacing but in the context of the situations (aka Bowser is gonna attack and take over in like a day and Luigi was kidnapped by Bowser) it was actually fitting. Maybe I would have liked a few more quiet moments but literally bc of the threat of Bowser, I'll forgive it.

Characters:

Amazing and fitting! I know they changed up Peach but it honestly wasn't too bad. Mario and Luigi were great! I love their relationship. Given that Luigi is so nervous and frightened of many things but supportive of Mario that was the perfect role for him as needing saving. I hope for a sequel where he's in the haunted mansion or in a similar position where he needs to save Mario but for the first movie it fits. I was a little sad he didn't get much screen time or lines but he was kidnapped. I'll forgive it. Maybe more interaction with Bowser but that's a personal preference.

Mario was PERFECT! Chris Pratt did a great job as him. The trailers did Pratt dirty bc it wasn't too bad a job! I love his never giving up attitude. Also, love the opening of the movie with the brothers it was so CUTE AAA love their brotherly relationship. Also, love how Mario hates Mushrooms lol (I hate mushrooms also it's a texture thing XD)

Luigi, from the little I saw, was great! The ending was great when he fights with his brother. It felt natural. I'm hoping for more of him in the future!

Bowser was AMAZING! Jack Black voiced him perfectly! I also liked that he didn't just kidnap Peach, he forces her to marry him bc he's gonna hurt her citizens which I find more interesting. He also underestimates her and Toad and I love that fight scene! His jealousy of Mario was funny lol

DK was fun! I grew up on DK show so it was kinda on point except he was more of a bratty jerk but I mean...it kinda fits lol

Overall:

Just a very well-paced and direct movie! Maybe some will find the pacing too fast but honestly, I didn't have too many issues with it. The brothers live there now so I'm curious about how that will work out. I hope they make a series! They do that with Sonic why not Mario Bros? Mario Bros need an updated series anyway lol

Hey...how y’all doing? I have halfway recovered from my wisdom teeth surgery and I definitely was feeling a bit sad not posting and whatnot. But, here I am now, so I hope you enjoy this one. Pt. 3 to Party at Y/n’s is most likely coming Monday. And, Pt. 2 to Maneater is coming Wednesday (hopefully). Any who, hope you enjoy! Also, this is very much inspired by Dula Peep’s “Good in Bed.”

The start of yours and Vinnie’s relationship was like ice cream on hot summer day. It was sweet, it was refreshing, and it was much needed. After being cheated on by your ex, you needed to find something to bring the love back…and that’s exactly what Vinnie did. The two of you had met after accidentally buying the same car. You bickered and fought over the vintage vehicle before he ultimately decided to let you keep it…but only if you gave him your number. You happily did so and long story short, that led to a beautiful relationship…or at least what was a beautiful relationship.

As the relationship went on, you found that the so-called “honeymoon phase” was really just a phase. For you and Vinnie, it lasted for a least a good two weeks. What started as late night conversations before bed shifted into heated debates and hate-filled goodnights. The butterflies that fluttered around had died, and now your stomach was overflowed with enraged hornets. You didn’t know what was the cause of your downfall, and you weren’t even sure that there was anything that could fix it.

Well…you knew one thing that definitely fixed it: sex. The term “angry sex” seemed like a myth. You thought people were just overhyping it…until you were actually living it. You remember the first time it happened; you were pissed that he didn’t show up to dinner with your parents, while he was pissed because you hadn’t stopped yelling at him for a good hour. The two of you argued for hours, and as an attempt to get you to stop, Vinnie grabbed you by your waist and tossed you onto his bed. It was silent, the only sound being the heavy breathing from both of you. Next thing you know, the two of you are going at it.

Ever since then, that’s all you two did: fight and screw, then pretend like nothing ever happened. As nice as the sex was, it just was too toxic for you. You didn’t want to be stuck in an endless cycle and having to resort to sex to solve your problems. And also, you wanted Vinnie to know you for more than just your body. With that being said, you figured the solution to that was to communicate. Something you two did none of.

So, here you were in Vinnie’s room, sitting on his bed and waiting for him to finish streaming. While scrolling mindlessly through Instagram, you tried to figure out what the hell you were going to say. You didn’t know how to talk about your feelings, it was completely foreign to you. Ugh, this was going to be difficult.

“…I love you guys, bye chat.”

Vinnie stopped streaming and turned around in his seat to face you. You pursed his lips and started fiddling with his thumbs. “So, what did you wanna talk about?”

“I think you know.” You said, not meeting his eyes.

“Is this the talk? You’re breaking up with me aren’t you?”

You shook your head, laughing to yourself at the boy’s stupidity. “No, Vinnie…I’m not breaking up with you.”

“Then why does it feel like you are?”

“I promise, I’m not. I just wanna try to communicate, y’know. Like other couples do.”

He shrugged. “Don’t we already do that?”

“I wouldn’t necessarily call our exploration of each other’s bodies ‘communicating.’ Besides, you and I both know that our relationship isn’t the same as before. It’s like we’ve grown cold towards each other or something.”

“Is this because I forgot our anniversary?” He asked, leaning back in his chair.

You gave him a puzzled look for a minute, trying to figure out when your anniversary actually was. Had you forgot too? Damn, this relationship really was trash.

“Uhm, no…this isn’t about that. Although, we really need to mark our anniversary on our calendars.”

“Then what’s this about, Y/n?”

You sighed and stood up from your spot on his bed. You paced in front of him, trying to figure out the right words to say. “Vinnie…I’m tired. I’m tired of always arguing and then having angry sex…which is amazing, by the way.”

He squinted his eyes at you as he thought about what you said. “So…are you mad about the arguing or the sex?”

“Oh my god, why is this so hard?” you groaned. “I’m mad about all of it, Vin. I’m mad that we just can’t talk to each other. I’m mad that when we do have time together, we spend it arguing. I’m mad that the only way for us to enjoy each other’s company is to have sex. I’m just tired of it all.”

“Then, let’s just end the relationship.”

You stopped your pacing and stared at him with wide eyes. “I just told you I didn’t wanna break up.”

Vinnie chuckled, “I know that Y/n, but if you’re really feeling that way…then just leave.”

“I can’t believe what I’m hearing right now. You actually want to just break up? Aren’t you going to at least talk to me about what you’re feeling? Aren’t you gonna fight for us?”

“You wanna know what I’m feeling, Y/n?” Vinnie asked. You nodded, egging him to continue. “I’m feeling…very hungry right now. I want a fat burger and a fat fry with a fat shake to go along with it. That’s exactly what I’m feeling right now. And if the relationship is already going to hell…why fight for it? I say let it die.”

He then proceeded to hop out of his seat and dance around his room, chanting “let it die, let it die…let it shrivel up and die” while clapping.

You just stood there with nothing to say. You couldn’t believe that he was taking this all as a joke. You just poured your entire heart to him, trying to fix your relationship, and he’s sitting here quoting The Lorax and acting like a child. At this point, you were sure that there was no hope for the two of you and you were fine with that. You weren’t going to be driven mad by this anymore.

“You’re a fucking joke.” You growled, picking up your keys off his bed. “Y’know, I wish we hadn’t met each other because I’d be way better off if I didn’t even know you.”

“That’s not saying a lot, babe. You’d probably still be with the same dickhead who cheated on you.”

You scoffed, feeling the hornets in your stomach get their stingers ready. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I’m saying I made your life better. You wouldn’t be who you are today if it wasn’t for me.”

“You’re one to talk. You’d be stuck in here, playing video games and withering away if I hadn’t come along.”

Vinnie huffed, holding back a laugh. “At least I don’t have to deal with video games nagging at me all the time.”

“Jerk!” you yelled, rushing to his door. You stood in the doorway, turning around to look back at him. “I never want to see you again, you hear me? NEVER again, Vincent. You’re dead to me.”

Slamming the door behind you, you made your way down the hallway of the Hype House. But before you could go any further, something stopped you. A feeling of sadness washed over you and your anger subsided. The hornets that once threatened to pour out of you had now calmed down. At that moment, you felt your body tremble as sin known as lust flowed through your veins. You swallowed hard, trying to keep yourself from rushing back into Vinnie’s room and pouncing on him…but there was nothing you could do to stop yourself.

“Screw it,” you whispered.

You turned around and darted towards Vinnie’s room. Bursting through the door, you tackled him onto the bed and well…you know the rest. You knew going through this all over again was bad, that it was causing more damage to your relationship. It was definitely sad…but that’s what made you good in bed.

Team Headcanons: Kaeya, Barbara, Keqing and Xinyan

Barbara and Xinyan clicked right away, instant besties! They discuss music days on end and give each other ideas for new songs and general art direction. It isn’t even much of a problem that they are different like night and day: Xinyan with her rebellious spirit and docile and compliant Barbara.

Barbara would help Xinyan with her image, giving advice on how to appear nicer to people. And Xinyan was an endless source of creativity and unconventional views on creating an unforgettable performance.

Xinyan even suggested to teach Barbara play some easy tunes on her ‘guitar’, and that’s quite an honour in her book. Barbara took the opportunity with excitement and even though it turned out poorly at first she was still so happy to try. «Don’t you worry, you totally rock, Barbs!»

You suggest them having a concert together, with one or another being a guest-star, and the idea had completely blown both away. Their style in performance was certainly very different, but Barbara always wanted to be in a band, and Xinyan dreamed of meeting another open-minded musician, who would support her ideas.

Kaeya and Keqing kind of stayed out of their gig, barely understanding any of what was going on. It actually became a starting point in their relationship, a common ground of sorts.

Keqing found Kaeya to be pretty smart. «Finally someone with a working brain». As she’d put it. And Kaeya couldn’t help but gain respect for how hardworking Keqing was, she reminded him so much of Acting Grand Master Jean, as restless and committed to her work.

They started training together from time to time, seemingly having more fun than they would admit. Then often stayed late, coming up with plans for the upcoming missions. They were both talented strategists, so they’d regularly discuss something mission related, fully taking a role of ‘the brains’ of the team.

You joined their briefings from time to time. It made you really happy to have such autonomous helpers, who you could truly rely on.

The thing you didn’t know is that their planning sessions were sometimes accompanied with a glass or two of something strong, while girls were busy with their music or stacking supplies. You wouldn’t even consider Keqing participating in something so improper, but it turned out Kaeya’s charm is pretty difficult to resist. Or maybe it was the ‘rebellious’ and ‘free’ spirit of the whole team that pushed her to it.

You were not too excited to find them both unreasonably drunk one night, Kaeya telling some heart-breaking stories about his brother and Keqing being an emotional mess over Rex Lapis.

- Who the F is this Lorax again? - Morax! I’ve told you already, Rex Lapis, The Geo Archon, Lord of Rock, the God of Contracts… - Mhm… So what about him? - Ugh, you wouldn’t understand. It’s like I hate him, but I love him, but I also hate him… - Oh, I understand…

Barbara would treat their hangover the following morning while you scolded them a bit for being so ‘unprofessional’. Kaeya would beg for your forgiveness and take the blame upon himself, while Keqing would certainly be dying from headache and embarrassment.

- I will never drink your freaky cocktails ever again, Cavalry Captain. - Oh, so you want to build your prosperous society of future AND make it a sober one? That’s sad. Besides, weren’t you the one to say «Yesterday's experiences will become tomorrow's strength». - I take my words back, I got myself mixed up with an alcoholic… - Didn’t you know the Archon of my city is a drunken bard?

Xinyan, however, would find this whole situation the funniest thing ever. «That’s what I call rock’n’roll, ahaha!»

well , for one thing , i COMPLETELY condone the act of stealing her wallet. n that’s cuz she’s a bitch and i hate her !! the only reason i DON’T talk about her as much is because she was never AS influential in his life as padre .. but she was certainly an influence of sorts.

her name is noemi , and she wasn’t RICH at the start ! she was actually pretty lower - middle class , grew up and lived in central italy , and met padre by pure LUCK. ( or not luck , depending on HOW you look at it. ) she was actually a pretty decent person , her mother might’ve been a little STRICT and protective with her , leading noemi to be a bit REBELLIOUS growing up in wanting her INDEPENDENCE desperately .. but she was nicer than she is now. she’s only as BITCHY and self - absorbed as she is now thanks to padre’s influence , INFLATING her self worth by giving her everything she could have ever wanted and .. well , all the MONEY and such had gotten to her head real quick. she’s always been HEAD OVER HEELS for padre , and whether that’s genuine or ONLY because of his money and power is up for debate.

ercole was never CLOSE with her. he was never close with EITHER of his parents , but noemi moreso. she always found a way to JUDGE and criticize him. the only times he could SATISFY her is when he did EXACTLY what she wanted beat - for - beat no matter how EXTREME or unreasonable , for example when he was very young and was making steps towards being a piano CHILD PRODIGY. she only loved him when she made him PROUD. think the mom from the lorax , or that whole archetype as a whole. this led ercole to sorta just .. AVOID her more and more over the years. he WANTS a mother’s love , he WANTS a mother’s approval , he wants NOTHING more than for her to love her like nonna would but it just didn’t happen. it wasn’t like noemi CARED anyways. she never wanted to have to put aside her life to RAISE him like a mom should , pretty much just because she’s SELFISH. always had the maids do it for her so noemi could just sit back and reap the benefits of having a child ― whatever those could be ― without having to be a true , genuine , loving mother.

but even so , she is a bit more level - headed than padre and hates seeing so much turmoil between him and ercole.. it makes her uncomfortable and annoyed , so sometimes she DOES step in. something to note : inconsistency is a BIG THING regarding both of ercole’s parents , and it always FRUSTRATED and confused ercole why one day his mom COULDN’T even give him the time for a hug or smile, and the next suddenly cares enough to hold padre back from punching him the gut again. he HATES inconsistency. he hates change. so on top of AVOIDING her because all she does whenever they have a conversation is make him feel INSECURE and unsure of himself , he tries to NOT associate himself any more than he HAS to because he despises when she confuses him and suddenly cares when she normally doesn’t. not only that , but both of his parents are prone to CONTRADICT themselves in favor of getting ercole to do what they want , are controlling , and ercole just wants nothing to do with that. he can’t stand it.

ercole HATES his dad , that much is certain , but when it comes to his mom , it’s just a whole lot of .. HEARTACHE. he doesn’t understand why he can’t be like his nonna ( noemi’s mom ) or why she couldn’t LISTEN to her , nor does he understand why she can’t love him like a mom should. that’s all he wants. he doesn’t want to HATE himself and doesn’t want to LOOK FLAWLESS because otherwise his mom would GRIPE at him and make him feel like shit .. he just wants her to be content with him. with his padre , he can NARROW DOWN what ‘ he’s ’ done wrong to make him mad , but he can NEVER tell with noemi. and it’s annoying and it hurts. he just wants to feel safe but that dream is so dead it’s just soil now.

How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Professor Layton, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Lord of the Rings are the ones I’ve written the most for. I’ve also written a few stories for Rune Factory, Ace Attorney, Astro Boy, Ouran High School Host Club, Marvel, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

The Open Jar, Golden Child, Ambivalence, The Duality of Homunculi, and Responsibilities. They’re all FMA stories; I’m kind of sad that none of the PL stories are on top, since I think I improved a lot since writing the FMA ones, but it all comes down to fandom size, I think.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

These days, I always do, even if it’s just a short “Thanks so much for reading, I’m so glad you liked it!” I’m just really grateful that somebody would take the time to read the story and bother to say something. It takes a lot of energy to leave a comment sometimes, even a short one, and saying thank you for that is the least that I can do. I had pretty bad depression about two and a half years ago and took a big social media break for about six months; I didn’t respond to any comments during that time. I feel pretty bad about it now, and sometimes I think about responding, but it was so long ago that I feel awkward replying now.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Maybe that OHSHC fic “Funeral” I wrote years ago where Tamaki gets… shot and dies??? Why did I write that…??? I intended to write a follow-up where he didn’t actually die and recovers, but I never did, so the fic seems to end with him dying. That’s one of the cringe fics that I kind of want to delete now :’) Second-closest (and one that I actually like/don’t find too cringey) is my recent Clora fic “Almost Lost,” which ends with a lot of crying, but it isn’t a tragedy and their crisis is averted.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not exactly. I did get a couple of comments with criticisms on FF.net years ago, but nothing horrible. Sometimes people vaguepost about how Clora is Bad after I post something, haha, but that’s pretty much the extent of it thankfully... I’d probably cry if I actually got a hate comment adsjhkdsaf... :’)

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Asdfhjkadfasdlfaf no. I get so embarrassed even writing about kissing. I’d someday like to write something that actually deserves the T rating that I give to a lot of my ship fics, but I don’t think that I could write anything higher-rated than that, and it’ll probably take me a long time to work up to that.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I don’t think so!

Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, not to my knowledge. If someone wanted to, though, that would be neat!

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

A long time ago, my friend and I wrote a very silly LOTR fic where we would alternate writing chapters, with no planning whatsoever. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard from her in years; I wish we could have finished the fic, even if it was garbage adskjhdsf… I miss her. More recently, my friend and I have been co-writing (or at least brainstorming) a Clora story (costarring a cherished OC) set twenty years after UF. Even if the fic takes forever to actually come together, we’ve come up with so many great ideas and it’s been loads of fun.

What's your all time favorite ship?

Clora’s definitely my all-time favourite. There have been a few others that are really special to me, but honestly, Clora has everything I want in a ship. They have so much potential for fluff and angst, and they can get SO much character development together. (and I really relate to/adore both characters sdjkhsadf…) The ship does get hate and that does discourage me at times, but they feel really rewarding to write about; I feel like I’m solving a puzzle whenever I get one step closer to having them get a happy ending together. Nobody had written about them since like… 2016 until I started last year, so I’m really glad that a few other people who also liked the ship have something to read again now.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

Some of my old FMA WIPs… I’m not really into FMA or the characters/ship I used to write for anymore, and I kind of feel like I won’t ever get that kind of passion for the series again, although I still have some good memories of it. Every so often, though, I get a really nice comment on one of them and wish that I could finish them for those peoples’ sake.

What are your writing strengths?

Once I’ve found what emotion I’m going for, I think that I’m fairly good at keeping it consistent throughout a whole fic. I think that I’m also okay at being sympathetic to most characters, even ones that I don’t really like; it feels awful when somebody spitefully writes about my favourite characters, and I don’t want anyone to feel that way when reading my stuff. I think that I’m good at writing about… longing or yearning too, haha… not so good at writing established relationship stuff adshjksfd but I’m getting better.

What are your writing weaknesses?

So much… The biggest thing is getting myself to write at all. I just get so easily overwhelmed, distracted, or discouraged and give up. It takes me forever to write just a oneshot, let alone multichapter stories. I’m also quite bad at planning ahead… I plan major moments in a story, but often, the in-between bits are surprises to me. I do enjoy how my characters kind of take me on a ride and surprise me, but sometimes I find myself written into a corner. I also overexplain. So many of my chapters wind up so long because I feel like I have to explain every little detail.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I’ve never done much of that when writing about real-life languages, but I used to throw in the random Sindarin word in my LotR fics, such as calling someone’s father “Ada,” since that was common in LotR fics back then. If I was to do it now, though, I’d probably only include dialogue in another language if it was immediately translated to English afterwards, like someone explaining what a sentence meant, but I wouldn’t throw in random words unless it was a character’s normal habit to mix languages.

What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

The Lorax, but it was super cringe, and I deleted the fic… Funnily enough, it wasn’t even about the onceler, it was about my OC dad for him.

My official first fandom in my mind is Lord of the Rings/Tolkien in general. I was a very awkward and excitable teenager, new to the internet, and met a lot of kids on FF.net who were as awkward as me by commenting on their very silly fics/writing very silly fics similar to theirs to try to impress them. I had so much fun and made a lot of friends that way, although I’ve lost touch with almost all of them, sadly… I really miss them. The fics are all on my FF.net profile still, but I don’t recommend most of them aJSDKsdf… Those were the days before I was an angst addict and everything I wrote was ridiculous. Most things I wrote before 2019 aren’t very good to me...

What's your favorite fic you've ever written?

Right now, probably Bright Saffron Dreams… I put so much love and energy into that one, and it has so many tropes that I like in it. If I’d been brave enough to make it slightly more overtly romantic, it would have been exactly what I wanted in a Clora fic, haha...

wow that was quick okay

so for context, i am a minor so when this movie came out i was still a cartoon-watching age

i never really wanted to watch this movie, but i still ended up watching it at least twice but probably more than that. the first time i watched it, it was in english class around the end of the school year so the teacher just put it on. i'm pretty sure by then i've actually seen it before but i have no memory of it? anyway i really didn't want to watch it and did my best to ignore it (which wasn't very effective, so i already had quite some dislike for the movie).

and then art camp.

in art camp, they put the movie on one afternoon so the people who were tired and didn't really want to paint anymore had something to do. and i was tired, so i (reluctantly) sat down to watch the lorax. (btw we watched spirited away the day before, which we didn't finish, so why did the teachers even put on the lorax? i don't know) now sadly the infamous song (you know the one) got stuck in my head, which meant i was repeating the line 'how ba-a-a-ad can i be' for the rest of the afternoon, annoying me and everyone around me, and driving some of the kids at art camp to claim i'm in love with the lorax, which just drove me fucking mad but also i couldn't really do anything about it. so naturally they made me draw lorax fanart (this was before i joined tumblr and really became a fandom girlie (gn) and started making fanart regularly), and i did because why the hell not.

now this art camp already had plenty of lore (don't ask) and my love-hate relationship with the lorax got added to it, obviously.

so now i hate the lorax with all my heart but also there is some affection for that stupid creature there somewhere.

How the Grinch SUCKED at Stealing Christmas 🎄😒

I honestly never thought I'd ever make one of these but I have never felt THIS salty over a film adaptation. I am a huge Suess fan & I love the previous Illumination retellings of Horton Hears A Who & The Lorax. I also really enjoyed Dr. Strange. And the song "Happy" by Pharell is a bop. BUT THE 2018 Grinch movie is one of THE most disappointing film I have ever seen.

Like?? Starting from the top, WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO PLAY "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE INSTEAD OF THE STEALING PORTION OF THE FILM??? LIKE?? WHO GREEN LIT THAT IDEA??

When the stealing scene happened, it was incredibly boring, uninspired and the regular bland score took away from such an iconic scene. How could they mess the best scene up THAT bad??

•They added unnecessary characters like Fred the Reindeer (literally the sub plot of this character could have been scrapped & things woulda been JUST fine). They made Cindy Lou Who have this squad she hangs out with & showed some shenanigans of her and her friends plotting a way to trap Santa?? Like WTF ?? That ALSO was unnecessary, I just wanted to get to the main story. The creation of these new characters that added NO substance to the story just made it feel like it was a movie about going on meaningless tangents.

•They added unnecessary "relevant ™" things. Like ok as a person who grew up in a single parent environment. I appreciate the "representation" of Cindy Lou Who's family. But it made her sub plot feel so forced? Like it was just tossed in there for the sake of B Plot so that the movie could be longer. It didn't make me care about her character motivations either :/ and her relationship with the Grinch was SO weak compared to the original cartoon and the live action version. Like? They are supposed to have this friendship dynamic that is heartwarming but they BARELY interacted AT ALL throughout the film that when the stuff at the end happens, it doesn't feel believable :/! It just felt slapped together like we're supposed to accept it :/....sorry but no. Plus it derailed from showing what the ACTUAL moral of the Grinch story is?? About showing that the holidays aren't about commercialism and materialistic desire, it's about spending time with loved ones. But they didn't make that the main focus of the film 😡

•The score was not memorable & didn't make me feel the spirit of Christmas. And was too washed out with trendy radio tunes that felt SO out of place it was ridiculous. My sis fell asleep in the middle of the film lol 😂 they just... oh boy... I can't even.

•The character design of the Grinch was honestly REALLY disappointing for me. He looked the the Mayor of Whoville from Horton except green. HE LOOOKED 👏🏼 TOO 👏🏼 CLEAN 👏🏼. This is THE GRINCH WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. The iconic song describes how creepy he's supposed to look? Why were his teeth and eyes not yellow? Or if like the special features of the DVD implied, that they wanted to capture the original book. WHY NOT MAKE HIS EYES PINKISH RED? THE GRINCH IS SUPPOSED TO BE SCARY LOOKIN. And be portrayed as a villian to Whoville or an anti-hero.

•WHICH BRINGS ME TOO MY MOST IMPORTANT POINT.

DISCLAIMER: I like Benedict & think he is a fantastic film actor! I don't hate him. I genuinely love his live action work !

But I hate to be blunt. Him and Pharrell are NOT voice actors.

Please 👏🏼 stop 👏🏼 hiring 👏🏼 celebrities 👏🏼 to do a PROFESSIONAL 👏🏼 VOICE 👏🏼 ACTOR'S 👏🏼 JOB 👏🏼!!!

I apologize if I'm being too picky but I care about voice acting WAY too much. People don't take it seriously and this goes to show that they REALLY should. It's not about hiring trendy celebs. Give jobs to VAs who do this for a living & deserve those jobs & are GREAT at it 👏🏼I can LITERALLY name 10 non celeb VAs off the top of my head who would have NAILED the vocal performance for the Grinch & would have brought that depth that the character requires.

I would rather watch that whole film (even tho I hated the plots they threw in there) but dubbed over with say someone like Steve Blum playing the Grinch. I bet he would be 10x more fun to watch & listen to & he would nail all the nuances & give me an emotional performance. The Grinch is supposed to sound mean & scary the whole film up till the end when his heart grows 3 sizes? THEN after that, I can understand him sounding a bit kinder. THIS GRINCH SOUNDED WAY TOO NICE ALL THE TIME. WHERE WAS THE SASS? THE SNARK, THE SINISTER EVIL LAUGHS? l didn't feel ANYTHING from this Grinch. Literally like?? Nothing? And I wanted to REALLY bad cuz I ❤️ the character. Jim Carrey knows how important the voice is when it comes to portraying characters not only in live action but in animation as well. THAT is why HIS Grinch is way more believable & WORKS than Benedict's. HIS BACKSTORY WAS SO WEAK TOO??

Ben's Grinch was an orphan who grew up w/o anyone to share Christmas with. But he would go to town and EVERYONE WAS NICE TO HIM. He didn't have any bullies. No enemies, he just didn't talk to people so he thought he was "alone" BRUH. NO OFFENSE. BUT SHOWING A BUNCHA CLIPS OF A TINY GRINCH SADLY LOOKING OUT A WINDOW DOES NOT EQUAL "TRAGIC BACKSTORY". I didn't sympathize at all. Plus that's a plothole. Aint no way an orphanage is Whoville "the happiest town ever" would have an abandoned orphanage. They are all jolly people and would surely notice a kid Grinch living by himself. They would help him. The live action version made his backstory 10x more interesting and dynamic imo.

I adored Bendedict as Dr. Strange. And Pharrell sings lovely but I'm terribly sorry to say that they are NOT voice actors. They sounded like they were just reading a script. There was no nuance. No depth. They were just there for a paycheck,& it shows in the vocal performance :/ I WANTED TO ROOT FOR THEM SO BAD. But I LITERALLY COULDN'T CUZ THEY SOUNDED ROBOTIC AND STATIC. I wanted to hear emotions but OMYGOD it was just all so uninspired. And not just them it was the rest of the cast too. Literally the ONLY GOOD VA WAS MAX AND HE IS A DOG. ALL HE DOES IS BARK. That... omfg thas sad.

This movie has no "rewatchability factor". I'll just stick to the Jim Version. That's the only one that characterized everyone accurately.

But tea ☕️ THAT was the tea of how the 2018 Grinch sucked at Stealing Christmas. Thank you for coming to my TED talk gnight.
