When you understand that you don’t have to love everything they love, just respect it and give them space to practice it, being in any kind of relationship it is much easier.
I am making a few more cards because I need them. These sometimes seem a bit weird because I used scraps of cardstock and design paper to make them. I had to get a little 'creative'.
Are they the best? No.
But at least I am using up more cardstock and design papers and embellishments and it's very nice to be able to throw away an empty sheet of stickers or something.
A lot is happening at UHB these days...
Bingsfos is getting his newly refreshed nameplates fitted.
Høland is getting his funnel replaced as part pf one of our mechanic's exam. It has been long over due, so it is good to finally get it done before it falls off due to rust and decay. So they have built a platform to be able to work safely. We'll probably also pull Høland outside to try his abilities as a sun terrasse before removing it... XD Having lunch up there in the sun sounds nice, doesn't it?
And since the numbers on his funnel had to be removed, I was tasked to polish them. Here is some before and after pics. The tags are just identification, to know where to fit them back to the new funnel.
Our coach Co10 (the Sulitjelma coach) has been undergoing repairs for two years now. Last season we fixed the outside paneling, now we're working on the windows and the insides. The floor has gotten some much needed repairs and a few coats of paint.
Inside the workshop we're still working on the windows, window frames and the ventilation shafts. It is long and tedious work, but the results are turning out very good!
So... that was a little update on what we're doing at UHB between driving seasons.
Today was my first year of studies done to become a stödpedagog. The studies have been great and I am looking forward to the second year. 🥂❤️ So a short pause over the summer, more time for my garden.

We had blistering cold, but it was a lovely day anyway!
And Høland wore a Santa hat for the occasion. We had one on Setskogen too, but she is smaller than him, so it came to close to her funnel and would have melted. We would have had to remove it anyway when lighting her kerosene lamps But Høland wore it all day, much to the passengers' amusement!
Two engines eager to get back to the warm shed!
It was so cold we had to "bubble" the water tanks frequently to prevent them from freezing. That's done by running the injector in reverse, so we blow air into the tanks. It makes the locomotive sound like it is coughing up hairballs, and people think it will explode... XD
We had to wrap the manometers up so they wouldn't freeze... Høland's generator needed to be tawed up by hot water and towels... The oil was super thick and needed to be warmed up before use...
The water level taps froze, so we couldn't use them... Setskogen's has a leak, so she had ice and icicles hanging from her bufferbeam...
There was even icicles on the valvegear!
We had to knock on the brakes with a hammer to loosen them as they would freeze while we were standing still...
I dared the driver to lick the rods, but he didn't dare... XD
The warm glow from the firebox lights up the cab in the darkness...
Setskogen seen from Høland's frosty window.
It was a wonderful day despite the cold, and I look forward to next weekend already. I will be the fireman on saturday, and a guard conductor/brakeman on sunday.
Arrived home from work. Repotted some plants. Enjoying the sun and my porch. Soon out with my coworkers for dinner. This weekend is going to be a garden weekend otherwise. ❤️☀️🌿
