My goal for 2024 is for 40% of my reads to be nonfiction. I've had two years within the recent past where I managed 20% of my reads to be nonfiction, so I'm aiming to double that. THIS WILL BE HARD FOR ME! Not because I don't enjoy nonfiction but because I enjoy fiction a lot more and have a lot more practice reading it. Haha Also for me, I am in circles where I'm just going to have more awareness of fictional books that I'm likely to enjoy more so than nonfiction. I'm kind of hoping that this years journey will change that a bit too!

I will actually add to this list as I get more recs and whatnot. And I still have some coming which I ordered from Thriftbooks. Once those are here, I'll add those. I'm a little sad there aren't more memoirs, but there's plenty of time for that yet! This is already 37 books, and given lately I've been reading about 70 (nonfiction may slow me down tho), these should give me plenty of ability to reach my 40% goal. Now it's just a matter of if I do it XD

happy new year, my loves 💖 I'm doing my little new year's ritual of cleaning everything, cleaning some bad energy in the house, and journalling. Hope you all had a good new year's eve!

no usual post this week, just wanted to say that this last Sunday was actually the tenth anniversary of me finishing A Tale of Two Cities for the first time — and that although (due to a variety of life circumstances) I regrettably didn’t have anything prepared to post for this specific day and anniversary, I’m so grateful that after a full decade now, I still find such joy and now community in continuing to engage in a social context with this book that has had such a profound impact on my life — and the lives of all of us reading this here — in so many ways.

Basically, thank you all for being here with me! Can’t wait to keep celebrating our collective appreciation for the novel through my work here on this blog!

visiting distant relatives right now (5 hour distance for usamericans might not be far but it is for me) who I haven’t seen in like 17 years…..it’s so sad how nobody has thought about meeting earlier

#learned about some more family drama today #drank quite a lot of wine but I feel good #I really hope that my cousins (who aren’t really my cousins but I’ve been calling cousins since I’ve been little) and I stay in touch….#disappointed in myself for not being fluent in speaking Russian #I can read and understand more than I actually talk #and I blame my parents my anti russian elementary school teacher and those ugly German kids who bullied me lmaooo #new goal for 2024 is to become more fluent in Russian; pick up Chinese and Spanish again; learn my man’s native tongue 😮‍💨

i have high hopes for myself in 2024. I don't know why, but i just do. Neuroplasticity is so great. I have learnt so much these past few months.

#My nervous system is more regulated now and that does wonders yknow #Dont get me wrong im terrified as shit at the things I want to do in 2024. But now it doesnt feel so life or death #I just have this newfound idgaf energy about everything. Only problem now is my energy levels.
