video: full color 2D animation of a clip from Tales To Be Told by The Mechanisms. jonny d'ville pulls a rose red into the frame, dips and twirls her as if they are dancing, while simultaneously drawing a plasma revolver as he says “having fun, violence…”. he then shoots in rose’s general direction as she spins out of view, producing a huge explosion that briefly knocks him off balance. jonny thinks for a beat and then concludes “that’s about it” with a grin towards the viewer. end description

The owner of a seafood restaurant sends one of his sons undercover to his rival’s restaurant.
The owner tells him to get a job as a cook, and figure out the recipe for his rival’s famous clam chowder. The first day, the son comes home with a basic list of ingredients that the rival uses. They try making it, but it doesn’t turn out the same so the owner sends him back. The second day, the son comes home having watched the rival chef prepare the chowder. They try again to make it, and it’s close, but the consistency is off, it’s too watery. They try to figure out what they’re doing wrong, and the son realizes that he was distracted for a minute while the chef did something. “He must have added a secret ingredient, one not on the list, while you looked away!” concludes the owner. He sends his son back for a third day, this time telling him not to take his eyes off the chef for a second. The son comes back the next day excited. “You’ll never believe what I saw!” he says. “He did have a secret ingredient, it’s a piece of paper!” “A piece of paper?” “Yeah, he keeps a stack of printed paper in the kitchen. It’s a bunch of Wikipedia articles he’s printed out, of various movies. When he makes the chowder, he tears out the synopsis of a movie from one of the articles and puts it in. It’s the strangest thing, but that’s the secret ingredient.” “Ah,” says the owner, “The plot thickens.”

“So all these poets from different places with tables and lamps and typewriters, we invited the public to come and have a poem written for them, really with them. We had no idea what would happen. We thought, you know. The line formed quickly and within minutes the wait was two and a half hours. Two and a half hours people stood with strollers, with briefcases, with all sorts of things, waiting to sit down with the poet. And then the poet would ask questions, questions that would engage them and provide images from their deepest life. ‘Tell me a dream you’ve had more than once. Tell me an article of a toy you used to love. If there were a door in the air right now, and what you longed for was behind it, what would it be?’ And people said things like, ‘My dead daughter’s shoes, my grandmother.’
And then the poet would take this and transform what the poet heard using language and silence and musicality. But take what the person had given them, transform it, type it out, sign it, and then read it to the person. Everybody wept. The poets wept, the people wept because it was their own lives given back, if you will. But put through this whatever, when we’re being writers, this imaginative language, silence, place that gave them back something. I wish we could do it every week. I wish there could be a permanent installation at Grand Central Terminal and everywhere around the world where people could experience the transformative act of poetry.”

BOTW fan comic about Zelda I’ve posted everywhere else but Tumblr. I have a lot of feelings about Zelda’s character in BOTW, and I desperately needed to make a comic exploring how she personally relates to the demon she’s working so hard to keep dormant.

can you imagine how freaky shark mermaids would be like unlike sharks, shark mermaids would have actual arms/hands and could rely on touching things with their hands to see if they’re prey rather than having to bite like sharks do. like youre just swimming in the ocean and suddenly you feel a strong grip on your leg, you freak the FUCK out because uh what????? the fuck??? youre swimming alone in the ocean??
a head pops out of the water, dorsal fin pointed from its back and it just points at you and says in a low whisper: “i thought you were a seal. please dont swim alone like this, im sorry i scared you i just wanted to see what you are” and then disappears back into the depth. what the fuck.
