MusiKat’s Graduation Challenge!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi friends! Welcome to MusiKat’s Graduation Challenge!
I’m FINALLY graduating and moving on to university this June, and to celebrate, I thought I’d throw another writing challenge! The theme for this challenge is one near and dear to my heart, an ever-present force through my entire life AND my senior trip: DISNEY!
Under the cut, you’ll find rules, options for your lovely selves to write from, and a list of characters!
Challenge Parameters
There will be two lists of Disney-themed prompts-- Song Prompts and Quote Prompts, all taken from my FAVORITE Disney animated features. You can select up to three prompts total, just make sure to let me know which ones from the list you’ll be writing~
The deadline for this challenge is June 13th, which is when I leave for my graduation trip. My actual graduation takes place on May 29th, but it’s a holiday weekend here in the States, and this is a busy time of year in general, so I figured it would be a little better to take it a little further into the summer.
If you need an extension, it would be nice to know at least 3 days before the deadline, but if it comes at 11:59 on June 12th, no harm, no foul. XD
This is a Reader Insert challenge, so select ONE character from my list. More than one person can write for a character, but no two people will be writing the same prompt.
I’ll take prompt selection notices whenever, though I suggest you know what you’re writing by early May.
Tag me in your fic and tag it with “musikat’s graduation challenge” for me to reblog! If you feel like it would be safer to send to me directly after posting, as well, feel free to do so as Tumblr can be a little wonky at times.

I’m a Damsel, I’m in Distress, I can Handle This (Peter Parker/Reader)
This is for @musikat18‘s graduation challenge! Congratulations on graduating! :D
Pairing: Peter Parker/Reader
Prompt:  “I’m a damsel, I’m in distress, I can handle this. Have a nice day.”
Summary: Peter Parker tries to help a classmate, and it doesn’t go well.
This was not the worst place to end up at 7:45am on a Saturday morning in Queens, but it wasn’t exactly where Y/N wanted to be.
Y/N was just trying to go for a jog and get some groceries before going to her friend’s house and this happens. Stuck in an alleyway, with a rather large man standing in front of her, demanding the watch on her wrist and everything in her purse. She stopped, stared at him, and frowned, not totally sure what to do, considering her options. It wasn’t as if she’d never been mugged before, she remembered walking through New York with her dad and being mugged, but she couldn’t quite remember what he’d done, she’d been so small...
That was when he saw her. Peter was sat on a fire escape next to the alleyway, eating a sandwich he’d bought from the corner store, scanning the area for people to help as he usually did in the morning, before Aunt May woke up and realised he’d gone. He recognised her hair, tied up in that messy updo she always wore when she was dissecting something in biology class in school. Peter almost felt his heart skip a beat when he saw the mugger across from her, demanding something. As fast as he could, he stuck his breakfast in his dufflebag, leaving it on the fire escape and swung across to the alley as he pulled his mask on, landing clumsily behind her, stumbling back onto his feet.
“Hey, hey man leave Y/N- the lady alone!” he managed feebly, almost tripping over in front of his Y/N. ‘Dammit Peter, act like Spiderman, act like Spiderman!’ he thought to himself, mentally cursing his lack of brains in front of a pretty girl.
Y/N shot Peter a small smile over her shoulder, her eyes bright with amusement. She’d seen the videos of the mysterious “Spider-Man” on youtube, but she didn’t know he was such a klutz.
“Spider-Boy, I’m a damsel, I’m in distress, I can handle this.” She told him with a shrug and a cheeky grin, turning back around and quickly kneeing the would-be mugger in the crotch, before hitting him with her grocery bag, letting him slump to the floor in pain. With a sweet, surprisingly innocent smile, she turned back around to look at him, before jogging down the alleyway and away.
“Have a nice day!” she called behind her, checking her eggs as she turned round the corner, praying none of them were broken.
Peter watched her jog away with a stupid smile on his face, before turning back to the would-be mugger.
“She’s great, isn’t she?” Peter said, more to himself than anyone else as he webbed the man up, and left him there grumbling to himself about the “stupid hooded spider-freak” and the “stuck up American bitch”, returning to the fire escape he was sat on to finish his sandwich, as he thought about Y/N and her smile and her hair and her confidence… He was so distracted he almost missed the old lady calling her cat stuck in the tree down the road.

Prize
This is for @musikat18 ‘s graduation challenge. My prompt was “I am not some prize to be won!” With Steve Rogers. Congrats on your graduation!
Being the new girl was never easy. It was awkward, exhausting, lonely, and a little scary, especially now that you had powers. Luckily for you your powers had always been easy to play down, knowing any written or spoken language by seeing or hearing it was extremely helpful, and easy enough to hide.
The Avengers had been kind and helpful, they made sure that you felt included and welcome and you couldn’t be more grateful for that. You’d been living and working with the Avengers for almost six months now and have learned all the patterns of your teammates.
It’s the second Friday of the month, that means Natasha and Clint are gone, you don’t know where they go but they’re always more relaxed when they come back. Wanda and Vision have date night, as do Pepper and Tony so that leaves you, Maria and the boys in the tower. Steve, Bucky and Sam were probably gonna be watching a movie which was why you were currently on your way down to the theatre room, movie snacks in hand. You can hear them long before you can see them, Sam and Bucky don’t exactly have an ‘indoor voices’ mode when they’re not on a mission. That’s even more the case when they’re arguing, like they are now.
“Don’t tell me you’ve never thought about it. She’s so cute! When she does that little nose scrunch thing when she’s concentrating it’s adorable.” Sam says, you pause before the door hoping to hear more of the conversation.
To be honest you really just wanna know who they’re talking about.
“Well duh, everything about her is beautiful but for me it’s those eyes. They seem to just see everything.” Bucky agrees, “I’d take her out in a heartbeat.”
“Oh yea?” Sam asks, “Then why haven’t you asked her out?”
“I don’t wanna spook the new girl.” Bucky says and you can practically hear him shrug.
“I’m sure that’s what it was.” Sam laughs, “What about you Cap?” Now you’re really intrigued you didn’t even know Steve was in there.
“You know how I feel. Now shut up I wanna watch the movie.” Steve grumbles and his friends laugh.
“If you think she’s so cute why haven’t you asked her out?” Bucky challenges.
“Waitin’ for the right time.”
“Liar. She’s been here for six months. You’re too chicken.” Bucky calls Sam on his shit and your eyes widen.
Are they talking about you?
“Fine, I’ll tell you what. First person who asks Rosetta Stone out and gets a yes gets the whole date paid by the other.” Is he fucking kidding? They’re betting on who’s going to go out with you? Bucky won’t accept. Who are you kidding of course he’s gonna accept.
“Deal.” Bucky says and you hear them shake hands. “I’m so gonna win.”
“Not a chance metal man.” Sam taunts and you grind your teeth together. How dare they.
You step into the doorway, arms folded and glare at the three men, granted Steve hasn’t said much but he hasn’t stopped his friends either. You clear your throat and the three men turn to look at you.
“Hey doll.” Bucky says with a smile.
“Are you serious right now?” You ask, your voice cold.
“What?”
“I heard your little bet. I am not some prize to be won!” You snarl and both men have the good decency to look ashamed of themselves.
“Doll-“ Steve starts and you glare over at him just daring him to continue that sentence.
“You guys are assholes.” You snarl, then turn away from the group of men and stomp away then head to your bedroom. You’re sitting there, furious, when there’s a soft tap on the door. “What?” You snap and the door opens.
“Hi Doll.” Steve says leaning against the doorframe.
“What do you want Rogers?” You ask sliding off your bed and making your way toward him.
“To apologize.” You raise a brow at him.
“You weren’t part of the bet.”
“But I was the reason they were doing it.” You stare at him in confusion.
“I don’t understand.”
“I, I’ve had feelings for you for a while now and they were trying to get my head outta my ass so I’d ask you out.” You blink at him.
“Men are idiots.” You tell him bluntly as you shake your head. “All you had to do was ask. I would’ve said yes.”
“You would?” His eyes meet yours, as a small smile curves his lips.
“Yea. So, you gonna ask or do you want me to do it?”
“Wanna go to dinner with me tonight Doll?”
“I’d love to.”

Moments in the Woods (Part 2)
Tumblr media
Summary: Gavin Magary x Reader (Pete’s Dragon). The small town of Millhaven seems like the ideal place to find some peace and quiet to write, but you didn’t plan on meeting a lumberjack who gets under your skin.
Words: 1800
Warnings: Swearing, later parts will have some implied nudity and mildly sexual content so probably teen overall.
A/N: This is a fic for @musikat18’s Disney themed Graduation Challenge. Happy Graduation!!! My prompt was “He’s handsome alright, and rude and conceited and he’s not for me” from Beauty and the Beast, and also the song Moments in the Woods from Into the Woods, which is kind of referenced later on. This is part 2 and I’m not sure how many more there will be yet!
Part 1
...
Turning into the drive of Aunt Mary’s house, well your house now you supposed, was a little like stepping back in time. As you wound your way through the trees, memories of childhood summers spent running wild in the woods, hunting Mr Meacham’s dragon, building dens and swimming in the hot springs with Bella came flooding back.
Though your aunt had been to the city to visit, it had been a good few years since you had spent any time up here with her. It had been with a certain amount of guilt, then, that you had received the news that she had left the old place to you in her will. Alex had dismissed the idea of it having any real value, and encouraged you to sell. However, sentimental attachment had made you resist the idea, and now several months later, despite his objections, you had driven up here harbouring thoughts of creating the perfect little weekend hideaway.
Getting out of the car, you took a few steps back to take it all in. Not quite a house and more than a cabin, it was a cottage really. The facade was weathered and needed a lick of paint, but to your inexpert eye, it looked sound. It was the setting that was special; a little out of Millhaven itself, in a kind of open glade, steadfastly resisting being swallowed by the forest.
It would have felt isolated except that a nearly identical house stood on the opposite side of the drive. You had known the previous neighbours, the Millers, a little, but they had moved into town a few years ago. Mary had adored the ‘nice young man’ who had bought the place from them, who had done odd jobs for her and generally kept an eye out. It was a tiny bit reassuring you supposed, that you wouldn’t be completely alone out here with only the trees for company, though there was no sign of anyone at home right now that you could see. You made a mental note to drop by later and introduce yourself, thinking it would be helpful to be on good terms with your only neighbour.
Inside, the house was gloomy and stuffy, having been closed up for months, but you could see that underneath the dust sheets the place looked almost exactly the same as it had when you were last here. Pulling back the drapes, the sun streamed in, catching motes of dust dancing in the shafts of light. There was work to do, but already you could feel the potential for this place to be just the retreat you needed away from the noise and distraction of the city to help your writing flow more easily.
Armed with supplies that you had picked up as you drove through town, you set to cleaning and airing. The day passed quickly as you worked and you only stopped to allow yourself a break in the middle of the afternoon sitting on the front porch to bask in the clear warm air and eat a hastily assembled sandwich from the basic groceries you had brought.
By the early evening, you finally felt like you were making some progress. The kitchen and bathroom were in good shape, and you were working on the master bedroom so you would have somewhere to crash that night. Though as you vacuumed it occurred to you that you could probably lie down on the porch and you would sleep like the dead. You were exhausted but, as you sang enthusiastically along to the music on the little portable radio you had found, turned up as loud as it could go, you realised were actually enjoying this. Alex would have laughed at the thought.
The large hand on your shoulder appeared completely without warning. All you could think as you dropped the vacuum and spun to face the owner of the hand was that it was most definitely much too big to belong to Bella. Instinctively, you stepped in towards the intruder, grabbed hold of their sizeable plaid shoulders and swiftly rammed your knee up into their groin. As they doubled over with a deep groan and sank to the floor, you snatched up the long tube attachment on the vacuum and raised it over your head.
It was only when the crumpled heap of man groaned something that sounded suspiciously like, “Y/N,” that you stepped back until your knees hit the bed frame and actually began to take in the scene.
“Fuck...” The groan was more intelligible this time, and the man raised his head up to you so that you could see under the peak of his cap. “Y/N, it’s me.”
“Mr Magary!” You switched off the vacuum and started to lower your makeshift weapon, before remembering that he was in your house - in your bedroom if you were being specific. “What the hell do you think you’re doing? How did you find me?”
Gavin shifted awkwardly onto his knees, hissing breath out between his teeth in pain. Seeing your defensive stance, he raised his hands as if in surrender. “I’m not gonna try anything, promise. I live next door. Saw the car and the front door was open, and since the place has been empty a while I thought I would check it out.”
Of all the people in Millhaven, Gavin Magary was the one who had to be your neighbour? Just perfect. “You’re not following me then?” you demanded.
“What? No! I can take a hint.”
You huffed and narrowed your eyes at him, scrutinising his face. The irritating smirk from yesterday was gone, and you couldn’t see anything in his incredulous expression that suggested he was lying. You could feel your heart pounding in your ears and sank down onto the bed. Dropping the tube into a loose hold, you waved it in his direction.
“Do people not knock out here? Or at least not creep up on a girl?”
Gavin was bent with his hands on his knees, still sucking deep breaths in through his nose. He cut a glance up at you from under his hat, frowning slightly. “I did knock. And before you say anything sweetheart, I shouted as well. With the vacuum on and that damned music so loud,” he nodded at the radio which was still blaring out Madonna, “I doubt you’d have heard if a bear had crashed through. I wasn’t expecting you to kick me in the... you know.” He gestured vaguely and trailed off with a bit of an embarrassed flush across his cheeks.
You reached over and switched the music off, musing with just the tiniest bit of satisfaction on the fact that you had wanted to kick him in the crotch less than twenty-four hours earlier. “Well I suppose I’m sorry, but you could have been anyone,” you replied primly.
With a huff of effort and a grimace, Gavin picked himself up off the floor and retreated to the doorway. He pulled off his cap and ran a hand through his messy hair, which stood up in dark spikes. Together with the red face, it made him look more boyish than cocky, and perhaps you felt a tiny bit bad for the split second it took you to remember the ‘stick up your ass’ comment. He started to make his way out into the hall and you stood to follow him.
“So could you,” he said accusingly. “I mean I didn’t realise the place had been sold, never saw any realtors, or anyone around for months. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t anyone up to any trouble. I guess you were the last person I expected to see.”
“Oh, it’s not been sold, Aunt Mary left it to me.” You emerged into the sunlight, blinking. Gavin stopped at the top of the porch steps.
“You’re Mrs Green’s niece?” he asked.
“Great-niece, but yeah. You seem surprised.”
“She talked a bit about you.” Gavin hesitated. “You’re just not exactly what I expected that’s all.”
“Oh really?” After the less than stellar first impression you seemed to have of each other the day before, you couldn’t wait to see what imperfections he would throw in your face this time.
“Well, no offence but you’re a bit older.” He took a step back holding out his hands towards you. “I mean she kinda gave the impression that you were a sweet little slip of a thing.” The cocky grin you remembered from the day before returned and his eyes lit up with mischief. “You’re feisty instead. But then I reckon you probably take after her like that.”
“Is that so?” You crossed your arms and stuck out your chin. “Well she might also have mentioned to me that her neighbour was a nice young man. I didn’t expect that to be you either.”
His grin widened and shook his head. “Feisty. I hope your fiancé knows what he’s getting himself into.”
“Mr Magary,” you warned.
“Don’t worry sweetheart, I don’t need telling twice. Especially now I know what you’re capable of when you get the advantage of surprise.’ He winced at the thought. “Will he be moving up here with you?”
“Oh no, I’m only staying for a month or two so I can write in peace. I’d like to keep the place for the weekends though.”
“Well that’s a damned shame, it would be nice if someone wanted it for their home. But I guess you’re a city girl at heart.” Gavin still smiled, but it seemed less bright. You couldn’t help but feel that you had disappointed him somehow, but that was ridiculous. Why would he care what you did? “Since everything’s okay, I’ll get out of your hair.” He jogged down the porch steps before pausing and looking back up at you. “If you need anything just shout.”
“Thanks for the offer Mr Magary, but I’m sure I’ll be just fine.” He shrugged and started to walk away.
“I already told you once, but if we’re going to be neighbours would you call me Gavin,” he called back over his shoulder.
He took a few steps further until he was about halfway between the houses, before he suddenly spun around but kept walking backwards, and yelled, “By the way the singing was something else Y/N!” With a wink and a smile, he turned back towards his own place, leaving you wondering if that was meant to be a compliment. It didn’t quite feel like it somehow.
Well Aunt Mary, you thought, your nice young man is just plain irritating, and... Sighing at his retreating form, you couldn’t quite put your finger on it. As you went inside and closed the door firmly, flicking the latch shut for good measure, it came to you. Incorrigible.
It was only later, when you were lying in bed looking at the spot where you had taken out Gavin earlier, that it dawned on you that incorrigible was exactly the word your Aunt had used to describe you when you were a child. And as you lay there listening to the gentle whisper of the wind through the trees outside, you wondered if she wouldn’t have found that quite amusing.

masterlist
Tumblr media
You’ve just left a bar not too far from home, tonight your friend Aubrey was celebrating her birthday and invited you to come with her. You went along, dancing with your group of girlfriends and letting your hair down. You only had a couple drinks though, not trying to become too intoxicated, that’s not your style. You’ve had fun, but now all you want is to go home, cover up with a fuzzy blanket, and finish your new favorite binge-worthy show on Netflix.
The thought of home makes you happy. You love your flat, just over four months ago you moved into the building in London and you love it. Work is only a short train ride away, you’re surrounded by great shops and restaurants, and you /might/ have a crush on one of your neighbors. Okay, crush sounds adolescent, but you are attracted to the handsome, sweet guy across the hall from you. Nobody can blame you for being intrigued.
About three blocks from the bar, your thoughts of home and… other things are interrupted when you hear a noise behind you. You almost stumble in your high heels at the sound.
Are those footsteps? you ask yourself, stopping yourself from turning to look behind you. You knew you shouldn’t have walked home in the dark, through the streets of London. The friend that came with you left with someone for the night, so you were left to make your way back home by yourself. Yep, those are footsteps. You know what, it’s probably just somebody trying to get home like me, the logical part of your brain thinks, calming your fears for the moment.
Still having been creeped out by the noises, the sooner you can get behind a locked door, the better. You quicken your stride, hearing the footsteps behind you speed up in response. Shit. This is where I get mugged or kidnapped or something, isn’t it? The logical side of your brain has been subdued by your anxiety.
You listen closely and hear the footsteps get closer, sounding like they are right behind you. You see a hand coming towards you in your peripheral vision, reaching for your arm, and your instincts kick in. You bend your left arm into a right angle and grab the person’s wrist, using the leverage to twist around, and aiming a kick to the crotch. The person falls into a heap on the ground, clutching their groin.
You turn back around, ready to run to the nearest open place of business, but just as you move to take a step, a groan of pain reaches your ears, sounding suspiciously like your name. Wait… I know that voice... Knowing that you shouldn’t, but doing it anyway, you turn back to your “attacker” only to find that they look familiar, in fact…
“Steve,” you say incredulously, eyeing his blond hair and wide shoulders. Your suspicions are confirmed when the man moves his head, the hair falling out of his face and revealing two bright blue eyes, his features coming into full view.
He looks back at you, trying to hide the evident pain on his face with a smile that turns more into a grimace. “Hey, Y/N,” he stutters out. “Um...you...you fight good.”
“I took self-defense classes a few months ago, but that’s not the point. What the hell are you doing here, Trevor?”
Steve inhales deeply a few times, calming his breathing down enough to speak in full sentences. “I was at the bar, Sword and Shield. I was saying goodbye to my friend Sameer when I saw you leave alone. When you started walking instead of calling a cab I thought I would walk with you so... well, so something like this didn’t happen. I guess I didn’t need to worry too much.” He laughs at his own observation.
“I figured I was too close to home to worry about cab fare,” you feel the need to explain yourself. It’s quiet for a few moments until you realize that your neighbor and crush is still sitting on the ground, having straightened up when he started talking. You reach down a hand, stretching it out in an offer to help him up and he accepts gratefully, intertwining your fingers when he is at full height. “It was really sweet of you to try and help me, Steve. I’m so sorry that I hurt you!”
Steve waves off your worries with his free hand, then using it to absently brush the hair from his forehead, looking up at you from beneath his eyelashes. “I do feel bad for scaring you, though. Let me make it up to you and walk you home, and then maybe tomorrow I could take you to dinner?”
You feel your cheeks heat at the implication of a date and bite your lip to stop the smile that you feel coming, but it does nothing to hold your grin back. “That sounds great, Steve.”
You walk hand in hand to your building, talking and flirting the whole time. By the time you reach the door to your apartment, you can’t wait for your date tomorrow, looking forward to spending more time with Steve and not wanting the night to end. You stand with Steve in comfortable silence for a while but eventually he starts to talk, not wanting to make things awkward.
“I’ll see you tomorrow for dinner. Is seven o’clock okay?” You simply nod, not knowing what to say in response. “I’m looking forward to it, Y/N,” and then Steve does something you hadn’t expected. He leans forward, brushing his lips softly across yours before pulling away slowly and backing up to his door, maintaining eye contact as he does so. You watch as his lips pull up into a beaming grin, giving you the urge to kiss him again.
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
“Goodnight, Steve.”
He makes sure you make it into your flat before unlocking his own door, the smile never leaving his face meanwhile. Steve nods his head, the corners of his eyes crinkling. He stands with his back to the door and leans his head on the wood, already looking forward to tomorrow.

Hi!!! I'd like to take part in your graduation challenge (congrats btw!!! 💖). Is it alright that I use quote prompts 19, 20, and 24 with Loki? 😊😊😊
Of course! They’re yours!

Hi! Can I do "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most beautiful of all" with Touch The Sky from Brave for your Graduation thing? I haven't quite decided on a character yet, but I thought it best to reserve my place!
They’re yours! 😁😁😁

Hi Sara congats on your graduation and i can't wait to read all the fics. Can i please have that prompt “I should have given it to you before, but I was scared. And the thing is, I’m not scared anymore. You know what I mean?“? I haven't chosen a character yet. Also can i ask if there is a word limit in the fic? Thank you
Absolutely! There isn’t any word limit, although I do request that works longer than 300 words have a cut so that it’s not filling up everyone’s dashes, whether before the story begins or after the first 300 words.

Hi lovely! For your graduation challenge, could I do "Fixer Upper" from Frozen, and prompt number 15 “People do crazy things when they’re in love.”? I will do a star trek character, either Bones, Jim, or Scotty, but I haven't decided yet. Is that alright? Yay for graduation!
That’s perfect! I’m glad you want to join in!
