704 includes several mentions of The Fight, the big unification bout in Vegas, and Muay Thai sparring. I don’t think that’s just for the dudebro vibes (tho that’s definitely a factor this season). When it comes to Eddie’s journey as presented in that epic episode, I think all the full-contact combat/sports references are doing subtextual work to narrate Eddie’s queerness and where he’s at this season.
Eddie doesn’t really consciously engage with his queerness at this point in the story but via Tommy as his mirror and all the sports references, I think it’s safe to say that Eddie is at odds with his queerness but he doesn’t fully realize that’s what it is and/or that it’s something he’s been battling on some level his whole life. A few things in the ep point in that direction:
Buck: How was the fight?
Eddie: Fight was okay. Seats were amazing. Tommy’s buddies with the promoter, so we were ringside. Felt like I was the one throwing the punches.
The sense I get is that Eddie is witnessing a fight inside himself but he’s not aware that he’s an active participant in said fight. That makes sense to me given his tremendous ability to compartmentalize and ‘be in control’. Like. The fight is happening but he has it walled off and isn’t consciously connected to it. His queerness is present and with him (aka Tommy with him at the fight + “watching half naked men pummel each other”) but he doesn’t recognize it for what it is quite yet.
A unification bout, according to Wikipedia because I know *nothing* about sports, is the bringing together of titles held by different fighters. Eddie going to the fight with Tommy seems to me like Eddie needing to discover an aspect of himself that Tommy that he has in common with him!
Then there’s all the Muay Thai references. Eddie says it’s been a long time since he met someone that can go toe to toe with him when sparring. Eddie’s fighting for his life against his queerness y’all. It’s not an actual match which is good but still I think the point stands. He’s at odds with a part of himself that’s trying to emerge victorious and express itself. But between Catholic guilt, family expectations, the hypermasculine culture of the military, and overall heteronormative comphet culture Eddie hasn’t been able to see/engage/accept his queerness.
I think this all feeds into to the scene where Buck comes out in 705 and Eddie expresses surprise about Tommy being gay but not Buck being bisexual. Buck has always worn his heart on his sleeve so it makes sense that when he figured out his bisexuality he would share that part of himself with others. Eddie is King of Repression, Reservation, and Control so it makes sense that he wouldn’t quite know HOW to do that for himself yet. Tommy’s character is a needed mirror for Eddie to see what’s possible for himself (all of himself) whereas Tommy was a needed vehicle for the actual expression of Buck’s queerness at this moment in the story. Tommy is doing so much friggin work in the narrative lol!
Lastly, I think Eddie’s own queerness is still a mystery to him and something that he’s sparring with on some level because he’s NOT allosexual! Now’s a good time for me to say loudly that I’m on Team Demisexual/Demiromantic Eddie. It fits with the data we have about his character and it’s still subject to the heteronormativity and comphet we’ve all seen affecting Eddie.
Eddie has expressed little interest in anyone of any gender who he hasn’t had a baby with, viewed as a mother-figure to Chris, or expected the universe to hand-deliver as if by magic. He has not intrinsic motivation toward sexual or romantic relationships until/unless he has a meaningful emotional connection to the person. He described himself as a nester and so far the only person we’ve actually seen him nest with in canon is Buck!!
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that season 7 has shown Buck and Eddie coparenting Chris and sharing their feelings with each other. It’s also meaningful that Eddie, Buck, and Tommy are all talking about Chris at various points and in various ways. Plus Buck thought he had to fight Tommy for Chris’ affection (and Tommy eventually tells Buck that’s not true). Chris has narratively been a metaphor for Eddie’s heart many times before. Buck is the one in the nest holding Eddie’s heart and both Buck and Eddie are gonna figure that out. They gotta or imma start throwin’ stuff!!
Anyway this meta got a little longer than I initially thought it would but I had to get this outta my head.
TLDR: Tommy’s epic mirror status for Eddie runs deep and so does his role as catalyst for both Buck and Eddie. He’s a bridge to Buddie *fingers crossed* Basically Eddie’s in the fight of his life trying to sort out his wants, needs, and identity when it comes to intimate relationships. Buck’s a little ahead of Eddie in the process but Eddie’s on his way!
(P.S. Buck is bi and I will die on the Eddie is demi hill. I’ll accept repressed gay Eddie with open arms but honestly I think demi fits what we’ve seen for Eddie way better.)

Random tips for writing a martial artist!
The ruleset for the competitive form of their style (ie Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Wrestling, etc...) will inform how that character approaches fighting. For example, Karate where points are awarded based on how many hits you land means that fighter might prioritize keeping someone at a distance, whereas in Knockdown Karate where victory is achieved through a KO that fighter may prioritize trying to pummel someone with close range attacks
A mixed martial artist will often have a "base" style. This is usually their first style and then they build around it by taking techniques from other styles in hopes of creating their own effective blend. Common base styles in MMA include Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiujitsu, and Muay Thai. In the last decade there's also been a wave of Karate practitioners joining MMA as well.
Related to the first two points, no two styles are fully comparable and no style is better than another. However, styles that pressure test their practitioners with a healthy dose of sparring and competitions will generally produce more competent fighters. After all, you don't get good at what you don't practice! So if you're writing a fight, the fighter with a more pressure tested background will probably come out on top more often than not.
Disabled martial artists exist, and also compete in tournaments. For example, in Paralympic Judo, the only difference is the fighters start off grabbing each other's uniform and the referee saying certain commands outloud so the fighters know to return to the center or avoid the edge of the arena.
In real life, fights between two experienced fighters are less like in movies where two characters are constantly rushing each other with few pauses. Generally, two fighters will try to feel each other out, making on the fly risk assessments with periodic high intensity exchanges. This is generally known as "explosiveness" in martial arts. Those on the higher end of explosiveness tend to resemble all out brawls more but the characters are still doing risk assessment with periodic lulls in the action. That said, this is a stylistic choice for the author, so you don't really need to consider this one if you're more interested in Rule of Cool.
A blackbelt in Japan typically does not mean the same thing it means in the West. In Japan, the first degree blackbelt is usually just a sign that you are now competent (and thus tourney-ready). It is not uncommon for a Japanese martial artist to get their shodan (first degree blackbelt) at an early age based on how many training hours they clock. Furthermore, most Japanese martial arts only have white and black belts. The colored grading system is largely a western invention to serve as a motivational tool.
Size matters. You might hear a lot about how size doesn't matter but that's just not true. A larger person has an advantage that can't be ignored. However, there are ways around this and a smaller fighter can still win. Typically, this requires the smaller fighter to keep larger foes in mind when they're training. It also requires them to strategize around their larger opponent's advantage. This applies specifically to two trained fighters. A smaller well trained person is still much more likely to defeat a larger, untrained enemy.
I want to stress these aren't rules or a do's and don't list, it's just tips for writing martial artists. You can also just disregard everything here because you're free to go hog wild. That said, I hope this can be useful to people wanting to write fights.

Started this little blog experiment to keep myself motivated and focused on my jockbrain goal of becoming a Strong Orc WomanTM. My journey began actually circa mid 2021 when I got tired of being mildly underweight due to depression and a Decadent and Lazy lifestyle. By mid 2022 I was 10kg heavier and at a finally healthy weight for myself, weighing around 55kg, thanks to a strict 5 days/week heavy lifting sessions + drastic changes in my diet, specifically just Eating More of literally everything, which wasnt (and still isnt) as simple as it sounds like. My progress was disrupted by general life and career consuming most of my time and now uuuh A War, but I am now still maintaining around 55kg, which is the heaviest I ever was. My stated healthy and realistic goal would be somewhere between 60-65kg, and this will be achieved via a combo of heavy lifting for them push muscles, climbing for them pull muscles, and muay thai for them brain muscles, cardio and general athleticism/mobility.
So this is where were at at 55kg! The journey (re)starts here babey!!

lewis hamilton is interviewed on media day [part 2], miami, florida, u.s. - may 4, 2023 (transcription under the cut)
Interviewer: "As an athlete who is obviously motivated by competition, or constantly pushing yourself to the next level, is there another event, sport... Like sometimes we hear Jimmie Johnson ran the Boston Marathon. Is there something like that, that you would like to do sometime?" Lewis: "In terms of like a marathon, or..." Interviewer: "Or a sporting event. Something else that would push your body to a different extreme." Lewis: "Yeah, I'd love to do an Ironman one day. I wanna climb Mount Everest. What else? I've tried MotoGP. I'd love to get out in a Nascar again. I enjoyed that last time. I'd love to cross over and do some training with... Now I'm part of the Broncos. I'd love to go and train with the squad there. And yeah, I think always tapping into something new. I do muay thai, boxing, for example, or I skydive, I surf. I like just mixing it up. I play squash. I like to do different things, just 'cause otherwise it's boring if you're just in the gym the whole time. And then just having a competition with your friends, in the gym or whether it's doing one of the other sports, I think is always healthy for the mind." Interviewer: "How does it help you stay motivated in your day job?" Lewis: "Doing all these other things?" Interviewer: "Doing the other things. How does it help stay motivated when you're in the car?" Lewis: "I don't really lack motivation in the car, so that's just... I'm super competitive, and yeah, it's in my DNA, so that's not an issue. I think it's being able to detach from... If you don't have these other things and you're just tunnel vision focused on one thing, you just miss so many other great things that are happening in the world, and I think it's so important to try and find a balance between work life, and your social life, and family, and so if you can click that right balance, then you're happier in your job and you're able to excel more, and so I try to arrive at my job less stressed, as hard as that is with everything we all go through, but yeah, I always make sure I take time for me." Interviewer: "So for so many years, you were the one being chased. Now that, in a lot of ways, you're doing the chasing, or the team is doing the chasing, has it impacted your perspective on your years of domination?" Lewis: "Not really. I think I lived in a time where... First two years I was competing, I nearly won the championship in my first year. In 2007 I lost it by one point. I won it by one point in my second year, then I went through a drought of bad cars, poor performances, reliability issues, for almost six years. In that time Red Bull dominated for four of those years, and basically what happens is that if you don't have the car, your perspective shifts a little bit, your focus shifts a little bit, into what you've gotta work on. Then I joined this team and everyone here-everyone in the world, basically-that was commenting on my decision said it was the worst decision I could have ever made, my career's over. But I knew what was right for me, and I truly believed in this team, as I still do today, that they had the right mentality. I think I had the good... Now, it's always good and well to say you had the foresight, but I knew this team was gonna go somewhere and I knew that I could do something with them, and we won eight team-wide titles. We've had two difficult years, and I think it's actually been... You can't always win, and I think it's been really great for us, as a team, to experience this tough time. It's meant we've had to pull together. We've had this struggle. People have had difficult times. We've all lifted each other up, and we arrive here, I think, today... Whilst we've won these championships in the past, I think, through this struggle, we've learned the most."

I was tagged by @santacoppelia - thank you! 🥺🧡
1. were you named after anyone? Michael Jordan, ha ha. No, really, my mom's a huge fan. She's followed his career ever since his UNC days. I love telling people that's how I got my name. For the record, although I have an obligatory fondness for my hometown team and a nostalgic love for the Bulls in their Jordan Era, I'm currently a Bucks fan.
2. when was the last time you cried? It's really difficult for me to cry. It's such a relief at times, tho. I cried a few weeks ago, when I realized my special needs dog was having some epilepsy-related issues. I've mostly accepted that I'll probably never see him with a grey muzzle, but I really hope we can share more time together. There are still so many things I want to show him.
3. do you have kids? Nope. Sorta did, once, but I don't really talk about that much. It was a good experience, and I still love/think about her. But my kids are all the critter variety these days ;) I enjoy hanging out with my friends' kids, but they're all growing up too quickly :/ What even is time
4. what sports do you play/have you played? I never really played anything professionally, but I liked soccer, basketball, and running when I was younger. I got into boxing and Muay Thai when I was a little older, and also did a lot of hiking. Unfortunately I'm crippled, so I'm limited in what I can/should do. I try to go on lots of walks with my pup and swim whenever I can. Sometimes I still wrap my hands and hit the bag, which is fun.
5. do you use sarcasm? No, never. (/s obvs)
6. what's the first thing you notice about people? The way they treat other people - especially the most vulnerable - and animals. Physically, eyes and smile. I'm more impressed by people who can be genuinely kind without ulterior motivation.
7. what's your eye color? Hazel.
8. scary movies or happy endings? Depends on my mood! In terms of scary films, gore feels lazy and boring to me. I need a film to get inside my head in order to be scary. But I'm a sucker for happy endings too, which is a lot of projection on my part, ha ha.
9. any talents? Err. Uh. Writing, I guess? Remembering a lot of random info? Friends are consistently surprised that I'll remember so many little details, especially if it's like ... me surprising them with something they mentioned liking at some point. Funny enough, I'll frequently forget why I walked into a room these days, but I'm glad some parts of my memory still excel! I'm also told that I'm extremely patient, if that counts as a talent.
10. where were you born? Charlotte, NC.
11. what are your hobbies? Writing, reading, watching movies and television shows (mostly with the BFF), random crafts, DIY home improvement stuff (I painted my entire house despite my health worsening over the years and I'm very proud of that), canine behavior/training, and playing video games. I don't have as much time for games, but I still enjoy it. Started a new game of Red Dead Redemption 2 this winter, and I've been spending hours just roaming the land with my horse.
12. do you have any pets? Ha, yes! I do a lot of animal rescue and have some life goals related to that, so hopefully I'll always be surrounded by critters. My beloved dog (Skippyjon) passed away in 2022 (old age and CHF). I had a cockatiel for 21 years - a birthday present when I turned 8. We basically grew up together, and the house is still way too quiet without him. I had other dogs (Smokey and Locke), and a lot of fish. In college, I had an "illegal" hamster, Kai (Kaizoku). He was fat and wonderful. I chose him because he squeezed past his siblings, sat in their food dish, and started shoving food in his mouth. King behavior tbh. I had a rat named Stevie in my late 20s. Currently, I have a deaf special needs dog (Oscar aka Ozzy), a cat that I hand-raised because she was found abandoned shortly after birth (Swayze), and a rabbit (Shasta aka Bad Bunny). At some point, I decided that all my rabbits would be named after soda brands, ha.
13. how tall are you? About 5'10".
14. favorite subject in school? Literature, Spanish, Philosophy, sometimes History, Classical Studies, Art. Anything that wasn't math, because I always struggled with that.
15. dream job? If I could make a living off of writing and spend a lot of my time doing animal rescue, I'd be content. Even if I was wealthy, I'd ultimately pursue a simple, cozy life without a lot of fanfare. I'd love to have more money to invest in animal rescue and local community welfare (kids should always have basic necessities imo). Maybe someday ...
Tagging anyone who feels like doing this! Feel free to reblog or tag me if you wanna let me know that you did it. Thanks, this was fun :3

In the past she was one of the few people to win a lot of money thanks to gambling and some different events she joined… since then she is despite her young age a very rich independent Billionaire who owns her own Island… She is an orphan so no parents are there to tell her how to use the money… often she hosts different events from Volleyball tournaments, to dance parties and more on her Island. In general… Sylva is a very positive girl… even if a bit too chill at times. So much so that she accidentally gets involved with dangers… Despite being in Ikimori she also stands out more than seems stealthy at all…. hence she is often the distraction instead. She can be a bit of a clutz at times too but her main motivation is to keep others entertained even if she embarrasses herself…
Her fashion sense sometimes seems odd and she wouldn’t mind dressing like a clown if it meant cheering someone up. Often very direct about her feelings but she has a current crush that she has problems approaching in Taron. Given she also lived on the streets before getting her money she met Kayne when he was still in the Yakuza and hence avoids him if she sees him around campus like a scared animal.
Aside from that she hardly can differentiate Dangerous people to Trustfull people, getting her into more problems in general.
She befriended the Syncrean dorm early in her school year cause she related and supported Sindren and her cause.
Unique Magic:
Charisma Beam
With a point of her finger she can instantly make people feel happier in mood… this however only lasts for an hour or so then it wears off.

2024 New year new life ghetto
It supposedly a motivation song but well, everyone loves to burry in their own pain so why not this song then. Good luck getting over someone you never date with this song vibe 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
