South Africa is standing their ground right now. they’ve brought “israel” to the ICJ (click for the 3-hour playback of the first day of the public hearing or click for a summary), and now their lawyers want to start proceedings against the US government for being complicit in “israel’s” international crimes (click). while we’ve seen the ICJ’s track record (especially in the Bosnia v. Serbia case rulings—click for a more in depth thread), this is the first step.
this should be the first step to reviving faith in international law. this is where pacta sunt servanda comes into question. what are statutes and conventions for if continuously ignored? why is there room for impunity where there should be none? while “israeli” warplanes continue to target hospitals, and while the US and UK empires bomb Yemen’s capital because of their resistance, we wait and expect an interim measure to stop military operations. this is the first step.
today (or tomorrow in The Hague) is the second day of the ICJ public hearing. after yesterday, we know that archived evidence on the internet helps—do use the hashtag #EndIsraelsGenocide to increase support and visibility for South Africa’s case! (click).
Tumblr media
and do tune into the hearing today (click to watch it live here). there is significance in a worldwide live broadcast—everyone shall bear witness to either the birth or the death of “justice.”
and if the ICJ fails us, then it’ll be the ICC’s turn. the ICC has set up a portal for any submission of evidence of “israeli” war crimes in Gaza. anyone can upload verified, factually correct videos and images. click here for the direct link to the portal, and click here for Karim Khan’s statement on it. if you have any saved pictures and videos, please do upload them.

Tbh like I feel so sad because I love Cassie but whenever I draw her I feel like I have to pick between her and Gregory and I hate that ? I want to draw both and still draw them as friends. I really don’t care about the neutral ending it’s not even the canon ending so even if that was him (which I doubt) he didn’t betray her. I just want to have fun and draw whatever I want without people getting defensive and even aggressive about it … it’s literally a game. You don’t have to prove anything to me about who’s right or who’s wrong, lecture me about lore I got wrong or whatever ? I don’t care ? If you hate it then just don’t look at my art it’s so damn simple.

“taylor has had several public Close Female Friendships and has a lot of lyrics about secret relationships or where she sings about a woman ‘from a man’s perspective’ so maybe there’s something going on there” gaylorism is sooo fun and “everything taylor writes or does is a coded message to me specifically telling me that she is gay and if you connect all of the coded messages together it tells you that she is planning on coming out on this specific date and if you tell me i’m wrong you’re not only homophobic but also stupid. also she is still with karlie kloss.” gaylorism is sooooooo scary

i’m sorry, there’s nothing wrong with liking popular books, but i’ve seen so many bookshelves that look like store shelves — where’s your obscure little novel from a secondhand shop????? where are the classics and that one book your grandma gave you 10 years ago that she grew up with??? where is the tattered childhood fairytale you couldn’t bring yourself to get rid of?

when someone calls scorbus ‘jegulus-coded’ or compares them to drarry (of all ships), or calls albus ‘regulus-coded’ it does my head in. regulus and jegulus are in your head whilst scorbus and albus are on paper, and drarry’s dynamic is LEAGUES different to scorbus come on now

“Color theory” this and “It’s just my art style” that.
Color theory and your “art style” doesn’t excuse the fact that you gave this very much not white character very much white people features, beastie.
-
This isn’t about Monster high (this time), I just like saying beastie instead of bestie lol.
This is about the amount of Across the spider-verse fanart I’ve seen where the black/non-white characters are being whitewashed by not only having their skin extremely lightened, but by also just being drawn with blatant white features???
It’s like in some cases the skin tone is fine, but the features are just?? What??
Like, y’all know damn well my boy Pravitr does not have a tiny button nose and thin lips. Miguel O’Hara is not white, stop drawing him like he is. Stop taking away Hobie’s locs because learning to draw them is “hard” for you.
I’m really sick of y’all for real. “Idk how to draw ethic features”. Then learn.
If you’re not willing to learn how to draw different features, how are you going to grow as an artist?
I’m black and even I’ve watched tutorials on how to draw non-white people because yeah, it can be kinda hard sometimes. But you can’t just blame everything on lack of skill if you don’t even try to learn to do it right.

This turned into a rant, my bad. I’m just really tired of this, it happens in every fandom like c’mon guys 😭

Hi I noticed you have been in the deathnote fandom for a long time. Do you know some changes the fandom/ships went through? I already know that the misogyny towards misa used to be terrible
Thanks 🙏
Hi! Yes, I've been here a long time lmao So from what I can recall things have actually stayed pretty remarkably the same when it comes to the popularity of the ships and dynamics in this series. Lawlight has always been the most popular ship, followed closely by M2 (Matt x Mello). However back in the mid/late 2000s it was different in terms of certain things, like the way the ships were referred to. For example, there was no such thing as a nickname for a ship as a whole back then - you didn't call it "Lawlight," you called it either "L/Light" or "Light/L." You had to specify which of the two you liked as the top by putting their name at the start of the pairing. They were treated almost like they were two entirely different ships, and people would definitely get upset if you weren't terribly careful about specifying this when posting shippy fics and things. This changed sometime between 2009-2012, maybe? Possibly around when "Brangelina" and celebrity couple nicknames like that became a thing in pop culture, lol. I am personally glad things are no longer this fussy about labeling and defining the ships, because I find it dumb and possibly a bit offensive towards gay folks to be that obsessive about their bedroom dynamics above all else. But I definitely still see people get very particular about their preferences for this stuff when it comes to their discussions of the ships these days too, so I might be the odd one out here. Overall I'd say tolerance towards diversity of the pairings and appreciation of the more minor characters has increased? Stuff like pairing L with Matsuda or having het ships like B x Naomi wasn't terribly common back then, from what I remember. People won't hate on you and fight with you as much for daring to enjoy depicting the characters with somebody other than their fave in a story or a piece of art nowadays, either (like "how dare you pair L with somebody other than Light!" - this was a very common thing to hear back in the early fandom days, and people would often act like you were "cheating" on a character by shipping them with somebody other than the character they decided they belonged with.) And fans have also started showing more appreciation for the female characters and attempting to be more inclusive toward them than they used to be. There is a bit less hatred of characters like Near and more shipping of him now as well. Many people were extremely dismissive of him back in the day, and he has definitely grown in popularity over time.
In general I think the fandom has chilled out and diversified and become more tolerant and deeper and more accurate with the characterization in its discussion of the series overall, but I still often will see the exact same takes and trends and tastes and arguments going on now as I used to see back in 2008. Especially when I step outside of the Tumblr bubble and back into a broader/more casual group of fans talking about the series and their faves.

This is a bit of a random question, but what do you think the demographic of the proseka fandom (not the player base) is? I’m more of a casual fan of the game who just enjoys the story and doesn’t really interact with the fandom aside from looking at cool fanart so its hard for me to gauge the fanbase.
On the EN side of things the fandom generally seems to be younger. There's a lot of people in the 14-16 range, especially on tiktok (i don't have tt but it's tt. it's full of kids). There's a lot of people in the young adult demographic as well but again mostly on the younger side of that (like 18-20 range). The non-EN parts of the fandom tend to be in the young adult range more than anything else. Like most JP/KR fanartists I've seen are in their 20s but I don't look at non-english fan content a whole lot so probably not the most accurate judgement. This is all just from personal observation (and tbh i don't interact with the fandom aside from looking at cool fanart and this account ig?) so it's not the most accurate statement ever but in general the fanbase is pretty young.
