I’m sorry?? What?
Was reading a Wikipedia article on Mori Ōgai and apparently his daughter Mari was the “creator” of the YAOI GENRE?!?! I’m reeling.
Wtf

I don’t really care about general Mori discussions but I always thought the policing jokes were in reference to his irl daughter? Mari Mori is known as the “Japanese Electra” and based many of the men in her no stories upon her father which earned her the name. I just thought it was like a role reversal thing like how IRL Dazai was inspired by Irl Akutagawa and how that’s swapped in the manga you know?
Mori famously spoiled his daughters, so it's not totally a role reversal! He took to being a Girl Dad with the same intensity and commitment with which he boiled his fruit and advocated for his unit in the military.
Mari Mori adored him because he cherished her, and his other daughters also spoke highly of him and his love for them. His son, from what I've read generally, was somewhat more critical, but I don't know any more than that.
I've read some excerpts of Mari Mori's reflections on her father, though, and I think my favorite passages have been her clear-eyed roastings of his bombastic contradictions and biting temper and cold hearted reason because that's also where her love for him seems to swell.
"To his family, he was a picture of good-naturedness, which sometimes made him as vulnerable as a baby. When I was small, I always felt his goodness, and after I learned the word "god," it became in my mind identical to my father. We feared that someone might bully our father."
...
"It was not his fault if his love, despite its depth and greatness, lacked warmth. Like a creature carrying its shell, he had this lump inside him, and yet he loved people. I can see this clearly in my mind's eye."

I love cafés in old houses, but I truly wish the interior décors looked as old and rustic as the outside, which is rare here, for some reason. At least, the food and drinks at @lecafenorah were good!

Rintarou had a good relationship with his children, you will not find anything about them speaking bad about his father or being afraid of him... Rintarou Mori never gave them traumas, he was an admirable dad
For what I know, his ex couple's didn't hate him at all... But I can't confirm this information since I don't remember where I may be read that
On the other hand, Soseki Natsume's children were traumatized, afraid of him... He had most horrible memories than good memories with their dad, some of them completely feared him, others had still respect for their dad
The "special case" being one of Soseki's grandchildren who was extremely empathetic towards him
His ex-wife ended up bad psychologically speaking because oh Natsume's behavior, which is extremely depressing
Isn't it curious how in BSD we see the opposite?
Mori is remembered mostly for bad things, both fandom and characters
Natsume is remembered for more good things, both fandom and characters

Les commères du village, la cabane à sucre et, je l'espère, la fin de l'hiver en avril
The village's gossips, the sugar shack and, hopefully, the end of winter in April
Sorry for the low energy outfit and pictures; I'll get back to better content as soon as I start editing my spring pictures.
