Just re-watched Summon the Suit episode for the 4th time and realized the similarities to Ep. 5 Asylum. I saw another tumblr post make the connection too, but needed to make my own post about it.
GOSH I LOVE THIS SERIES
Also my first time making gifs and also combining them next to on another.
Ok someone's probably already figured this out but I'm confused. I'm up to the second episode on my moon knight rewatch and I have some questions about when Steven's running from Khonshu in the storage unit.
After he starts running, there's a shot of a lock on a storage unit and it looks/sounds like someone is trying to pound it open from the inside. When Steven loops back around and Khonshu turns to look at him, Steven screams, the door on the unit behind him slams open, the lights turn bright yellow, and there's a freeze frame.
The first two times I watched this, I thought Khonshu was somehow doing it with his wind/electricity powers to scare him but was confused how he could control the non-electric units from the inside while the door was closed. This time the shot of the lock on the banging door reminded me of the end of the show with the sarcophaguses. Also, I understand cutting to him running outside is a good gag, but the freeze frame makes it a bit peculiar. I don't think they do that anywhere else in the show. Moon Knight is very particular with what they show the audience, especially in relation to Marc/Steven's blackouts, so there must be a reason we get a freeze frame there. It wouldn't be hard to have a one second shot of him running down the stairs or just not have the freeze frame.
I'm not sure how it could be Marc or Jake because they all share the body but if it is somehow one of them, I don't think it's Marc. He would never give the body back so quickly at this point, especially because he's been trying to persuade Steven to give it to him the last two episodes. He has a mission to do, he's not going to give it back after two seconds.
I'm not sure how it could be Jake but if it was, I think it would be really funny. Steven is screaming and running for his life, his heart is pounding out of his chest, he probably really did think he was going to die. Right when things look bleakest for Steven, he's right in front of this monster and it's speaking to him, Jake steps in to save him. And... it's just his boss. Jake was all ready to square up and protect them but instead he's just like "...oh. It's just you. Ok. Sorry. This is awkward now," and lets Steven have the body back.
I don't know who at Marvel thought it was a good idea to crunch their shows down to 6 episodes but I need them to shut up and sit in a corner somewhere
trying to read moon knight fanfic and man if your main takeaway from stevens character is that he’s a baby bean who is fragile, cant speak up for himself, and constantly needs protection.....man i dont think we watched the same show
Remember when y’all were so fixated on how the scene in Ep1 where Steven explains to a little girl how the Egyptian afterlife works and she goes, “And did it suck for you? Getting rejected from the Field of Reeds?” was a whole foreshadowing to when Steven sacrificed himself to the Duat for Marc in Ep5?
How convenient that y’all missed this other one…
Classic hero-defeats-villain trope, and y’all did NOT see Jake’s line being foreshadowed by Jamila in Ep2? Come on.
there’s something about a clueless, struggling protagonist trying their damnest to keep up with whatever superhero/fantasy/sci-fi shit is happening around them and usually failing that just works so well and i fall in love with media like that every time
eddie from venom (2018) 🤝 steven from moon knight (2022)
i’m watching the first episode of Moon Knight and I love how they’re shooting this. The recurring mirror motif and the introduction of Marc at the end was a great reveal.
(Yes, i’ve been watching the gifsets and reading spoilers, but it’s a whole other thing to be watching Oscar Isaac kill this).
