more sterek fic recs - all completed

finally, some more sterek! enjoy :)

quiet perfection by hyperlittlenori - this is one of my favourite sterek fics ever, it's honestly one of the softest things i've ever read and it has me grinning from ear to ear every single time i read it. it's an AU with a deaf derek and a sign speaking stiles. they meet for the first time at the station and are instantly enamoured with each other. all i want is for this fic to become a series, i just want more of them.

chasing slumber by hyperlittlenori - another fic by this author! this is some of the most intense sterek smut i've ever read in my life, i literally forgot to breathe during it. the boys use sex to cope but it's a lot healthier than it sounds, i swear. there's also a lot of fluff, i love this one so much. this authors writing is immaculate.

from love not lust by hyperlittlenori - another one, i know! this one is just really simple and sweet. the boys fall in love through book annotations and it's so extremely soft. asexual derek is beautiful.

deaton's dream beans by thenerdnextdoor - a coffeeshop/bookstore AU! derek is a brooding hermit who owns a bookstore and stiles is an obnoxious but adorable barista who's trying to start a war with a rival coffee shop. this is such a fun story, with a tiny bit of angst and a whole lot of fluff. also, background thiam! i've read this multiple times, it's just so silly.

i ain't scared of your teeth by antisepticdork - stiles gets attacked by harpies, derek gets growly about it, they fall in like. this one is very much a 'monster of the week' fic, very chill and a bit goofy.

we've written volumes (in blood and scars and ink) by notthequiettype - stiles gets attacked by the alpha pack and derek nurses him back to health with a whole lotta werewolf healing mojo. solid banter, minor smut and a lot of fluff.

you saw me standing alone by orphan account - so obviously i like fics where stiles gets hurt and derek plays the sexy nurse, because here's another one! this is such a sweet fic, and the smut at the end is A+, slutty bottom derek is one of my favourite flavours of derek. he mewls, guys. mewls.

this is ridiculous by zosofi - a pining derek, a bloodthirsty, virgin killing unicorn and an oblivious, virginal stiles stilinski. this fic is so goofy and i love it.

warm shadows by stilinskisparkles - stiles gets hurt after another kidnapping and derek offers to help him out while he heals. a zero angst fic with some great banter and an evil peter hale thrown into the mix. these boys are so in love i wanna scream.

hear it in the silence by elisela - post season six fic where stiles and derek are best friends. stiles drags derek along on an impromptu road trip to escape the pressure of college and they realise they're in love along the way. such a romantic fic with top tier healthy communication, it's just a really beautiful story about falling in love with your best friend.

2023 in review - recs & highlights

Happy New Year and thank you @sorrybutblog for the tag 🥂I wasn’t very active in 2023 tbh, after May I couldn’t find time or inspiration to read new things or write single recs so I focused on list requests instead. But I’m very proud of all the little things I’ve accomplished! They’ve brought me so much joy and I’m pleased with how they came about. I’m sharing below my personal highlights and would to see everyone else’s. Consider this an open tag and feel free to @ me!

✨this year I jumped right back into my anime & manga phase (I’ve loved it for as long as I’ve loved Drarry) and it’s been a thrill to discover and revisit some top notch BL stories. I did two reclists (part 1 and part 2) for fun without really expecting any interest but the feedback was so lovely I’m now planning a part 3!

✨ got so many special gifts! I was absolutely mindblown by @epitomereally’s lovely and creative LA, Who Am I To Love You? for my Wireless prompt; I got hot and bothered over this delicious nsfw art by @maesterchill; and fell deeper in love with Harry/Ron thanks to @writcraft’s stunning Can’t Start a Fire Without a Spark. I’m so lucky to have these wonderful and talented friends! thank you ❤️

DANCING IN THE DARK | @arcielee | a tom bennett x ofc short story set during season 1 of world on fire. i am an avid lover of historical fictions, especially stories related to world war one and two - so reading DITD made me feel like i was reading one of the novels i just adore. arcie has such a way with using words and creating such beautiful compositions - it just makes your heart melt. the budding romance between tom and vera is *chef kiss*, and it being an open ending just makes you smile because you pray for a hea.

WE WERE SOMETHING DON'T YOU THINK SO? | @inthedayswhenlandswerefew | a ben hardy x ofc story. this is one of the fics that just comes to haunt me - in a good way. a historical fiction inspired by the russian revolution and the story of the romanov? sign me up. this was such a beautiful story, it makes you cry and hope for the oc and for ben. || another one that just struck me: HAVE YOU NO IDEA THAT YOU'RE IN DEEP?. a HOTD with aemond x reader. this one killed me and i think of it often because i'm still crying over it, but fck it was good. it's one of the stories that just sucks you in and makes you scream at the top of your lungs from all the emotional rollercoaster.

WOLF-HEART | @gemini-mama | a finan x ofc fic set during the time gap in season 2. this was such a great read - faoladhean has become one of the ocs i love so much. the multi-chaptered fic was written with such detail and with such careful descriptions, the relationship between finan and faoladhean blossomed so beautifully, i was completely smitten. and she has such strength and such love to give, i can't wait to see where the sequel goes. She-Wolf for the win.

i know it says 3, but i don't think i'll be getting another one, so i need to add more or i'mma explode.

CRIMES OF PASSION | @itbmojojoejo | RUNA. i love you. a take of 50's London with the tlk crew? a love triangle between between our ofc, sihtric and finan? fck yes. bring it on. mojo created an oc that just makes you wish you knew her in real life. she is wild - which i adore - and the pacing of the story, the characters, the dynamic. love it all. can't wait to see the ending. i know i will cry, i got tissues ready. RUNA. let's be friends?

A THOUSAND YEARS | @persephones-journey | a staple for finan x oc fics, this series was one of the first i stumbled upon when i started reading tlk fics and i immediately fell in love. the level of angst and passion these stories have - the relationship between finan and aisling, all their ups and downs - it has your heart doing somersaults in all kinds of direction. the level of dedication to expand this au is amazing and i love every word of it. aisling has become one of my fave ocs - a fiery character, hardheaded, stubborn and yet has such a big heart. i can't wait to see where her story goes.

FIRE IN HER EYES | @emilyhufflepufftlk | another tlk series, a beautiful love story between finan x lucinda. these stories broke my heart in so many ways and yet i could not get enough of them. i loved the story and development of the relationship between finan and lucinda and i also loved her sisters and the family they created - this was done beautifully and worth the heartache and tears. lucinda had such love from finan, her children and from everyone around her - you wished you were part of it all.

You knock on the large front door of tannyhill, shaking with nerves. You knew you weren’t supposed to be here. That was one of the rules for you and Rafe. You two were NOT allowed to show up at each other’s houses. You two had been dating for about 3 months and so far, had kept it under lock and key. How did the two of you, complete opposites come together? Well, that’s for another day.

Rafe answered the door with an annoyed look on his face, not expecting you, “What the hell are you doing here?” His eyes searched behind you for anyone who could have seen you. He didn’t even give you a chance to respond before he grabbed your arm, yanking you inside and shutting the door behind you.

“Rafe-okay ouch-”

He led you upstairs to his room and shut the door behind him, “You’re lucky my family went out on the boat today.”

You were nervous and sure your face had showed it, “Rafe I-”

He frowns at the look on your face, noticeably something was bothering you, “What’s wrong?” He leads you to the bed and sits you down, bending down in front of you, “Talk to me, baby.” He lays his hand softly on your knee.

Your hand shakes as you pull it from your pocket, handing it to him. Your eyes swell with tears, waiting for the blow up.

He slowly stands as he stares at the stick in his hand, “Um..”

“Rafe..”

“This is fucking positive.” His eyes meet yours, his hand holding the stick shaking.

“I know-” You stand as he throws the stick on the bed, running his hands through his hair. You were pregnant. With his child. His mind couldn’t wrap around the new information; this new life changing, life altering information. He couldn’t be a father. Not right now. He could barely even take care of himself.

“Rafe, what are we going to do?” Your bottom lip trembles as you fiddle nervously with your hands. You’re looking to him for answers, for a life saver, and he knows it. But right now he doesn’t have the answers.

“I can not be a father.” He looks to you and stares at you with fear in his eyes, “I can’t do it, y/n. I’m not ready.”

“You think I am? I’m not ready either.”

“Shit.” He curses sitting down and putting his head in his hands, “fuck fuck fuck!” You slowly sit next to him, silent as you let him mule over the news. You stare at your hands in your hands. How would the two of you do this if no one even knows about you?

“Okay.” He takes a deep breath and turns to face you, he can see you’re scared. His face mirrors yours, “We’re gonna make this work, alright?” He takes his hands in yours, “We will.”

It felt like a weight had been lifted off you. Rafe knew that’s what you needed to hear, “I’m sorry,” You let out a sob as every emotion comes to the surface. You were terrified.

“oh baby.” He sighs softly, taking you into his arms, “Don’t say you’re sorry. This wasn’t your fault.”

You’d gone to your first doctor’s appointment and did get the confirmation you were pregnant. Now, it was time to face the pogues and the wrath of your big brother.

“You realize he is going to kill me right?” Rafe asks as he drives down the driveway toward the chateau.

“Oh yeah. Definitely.” You nod and he gives you a look, making you laugh, “Look don’t worry, just hide behind me, he won’t hurt his pregnant little sister.”

He chuckles with a shake of his head, “Yes, hide behind the pregnant girl. Brownie points for taking it like a man.”

You shrug, munching on the chips in your hand, “I’m just saying. It’s always a back up.”

He puts the truck in park and exits the vehicle. As he rounds the truck to open your door, the rest of the pogues are exiting the chateau, wondering what the hell was Rafe Cameron doing here.

“What the hell are you doing here?” JJ yells out to Rafe.

You step out of the truck.

“And with my sister?”

Rafe lays a hand on your lower back as the two of you approach the pogues, “Long story short, Rafe and I are dating. Have been for 3 months.” You nonchalantly walk passed them and to the front porch, taking a seat on the couch.

“okay woah!,” JJ follows you.

“What the hell is going on.” Kie says.

“did she just say dating?” Pope asks.

“You think you can just walk past me with that info like it’s nothing?” JJ asks, stepping up on the porch.

“yup.” You nod, pulling Rafe down next to you. His arm goes behind you on the top of the couch.

JJ holds his hands out, “okay. What the fuck!”

You lean forward, “JJ do I need to speak slowly like we were when we were kids?”

JJ narrows his eyes at you, “No smart ass. I heard you. I just can’t comprehend the actual information.”

“Well comprehend it. We’ve been dating for 3 months.” You decide to let them get comfortable with the new information first before throwing the pregnancy in there.

“So, this changes the whole group dynamics.” Pope says.

“You do realize he’s been a dick to us for years right?” Kie asks, “Like tormented all of us?”

“Yes and when did it stop?” You ask. You can see they all are thinking back.

“3.. months ago.” John B states, realization hitting him.

“I was a child back then. I was stupid and immature and I’m sorry.” Rafe apologizes, earning scoffs from the group.

“Come on guys he’s trying.” You sigh, “You’re gonna have to get use to him. He isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.”

“Yeah right.” Kie says, “You can’t tell me you’re gonna go out and get married and be together forever.”

“He’ll eventually break up with you and we’ll be back to the usual torture.” JJ states.

“no he won’t.” You look to Rafe and he gives a nod.

“why are you so confident?” Pope asks, “There is a 90 % chance these fools are right. He’ll probably drop you in a week now that we know the two of you are dating.”

You slip the ultrasound photos out of your pocket, “I know because I am now carrying his baby.” You let the photos unfold in front of you and watch as everyone’s eyes widen.

JJ’s face turns red with anger, “Oh hell no!”

~ Second Alternate Fic/Ending? ~

“Rafe-okay ouch-”

He led you upstairs to his room and shut the door behind him, “You’re lucky my family went out on the boat today.”

You were nervous and sure your face had showed it, “Rafe I-”

You’d felt like he’d just hit you in the gut as you realize what is happening to you; what he is going to do. “You can’t be serious..”

“Oh,” He smiles a little, “I’m serious. You got pregnant from someone on your side of the island. No one would even believe you if you said me.” This is how he keeps his record clean, how he doesn’t have to become a father.

You couldn’t believe this was happening. Your whole world landed on your shoulders. This wasn’t the Rafe you’d come to know. This was the Rafe everyone else knew. “Rafe you can’t just abandon me. This is your baby and you know it.”

He shrugs and falls on his bed in a lounging position, shutting down the entire conversation.

You felt you were in a daze as you made your way out of the marble home and down the road toward the cut. You could feel your heart breaking with every step you took. How could he do this? This wasn’t him or the reaction you were expecting. He’d changed and he’d shown it to you.

Your hands shake as you pull your phone out of your pocket, dialing the person you knew you could count on.

“hey little sis,” JJ answered with a cheery voice. Any other time it would have put a smile on your face but as soon as you heard it, the wall broke and the sobs took over.

JJ shut the door to the spare room at the Chateau, the rest of the pogues waiting in the living room for him. He’d shown up with the rest of the pogues and brought your broken self back to the chateau. You’d crawled into bed and cried, finally spilling the beans and telling him everything about you and Rafe.

You actually couldn’t believe how calm he was. It scared you. He sat next to you on the bed and listened, holding in every emotion he had. Especially the urge to kill rafe himself. He knew he needed to be there for you more than anything now.

“Is she ok?” John B asks.

“What happened?” Kie asks.

JJ sits in the chair running his hands through his blond hair, “She.. uh..” He looks up to his friends, “She’s pregnant.” His friends mouths drop open, “What?”

“No,” He chuckles, “get this.” He stands laughing again in disbelief, “It’s Rafe Cameron’s.”

Hands down, one of my favourite fics I have ever read. It's a Fjord and Jester childhood friend AU. There's sweetness, there's pining, there's first kisses, and they're very in character and part of me wishes this was canon because its so well done.

This one always puts such a smile on my face! She's written so many great fics, but this one has always stood out to me. The inter-party dialogue is spot on. If you want a great example of Fjord's 7 wisdom stat, you will appreciate this one!
