I've always been... Uncomfortable in my body. But there is often reasons why for it. I used to be uncomfortable about my weight for the longest time, but that was brought on by being shouted at by a doctor at a rather young age about being somewhat overweight. Not dangerously overweight, just chubby. For the longest, that caused me to have issues about just... How I looked. Eventually while I kinda stopped caring about my weight, that feeling of just being uncomfortable lingered. I didn't know why. At the time, I knew nothing about dysphoria or anything about LGBTQIA+ issues.

So I started to mimic styles. Tried to find a "manly" style for myself. Settling on a somewhat House like appearance... But then I joined a community and it started a route that would lead me to a realisation. Getting into the 4th Gen of MLP due to being a fan of the show runner lead me down a weird rabbit hole. A community that changed me because... Well, guys could publicly like girly things and that's fine! With that, I kinda realised that I liked being more effeminate and started looking into crossdressing. Didn't go through with anything other than underwear as I was a little afraid at the time but during all this, I kept learning more and more about just people and the LGBTQIA+ landscape. It's sometime during this all this I made a revelation.

I was most likely transgender and have been since I first had thoughts about it since I was 7. It's only now that now I have the knowledge- No, the WORD for it. I started presenting as female online and started working on trying to figure out how the hell to start transitioning. That in itself is another story that took years of constant back and forth before I realised that my old GP was giving me the run around.

I swapped GPs and finally managed to start HRT. It's been over a year since then and while I'm still dealing with a lot of bullshit surrounding it, alongside now identifying as someone who is transfem genderfluid. I don't hate my body as much as I used to. Progress has been made and there is a lot more of it in the future.

Do you have any advice you're able to give currently on dealing with ableist harassment and dogpiles? It's the whole nine yards - people putting words in our mouth even to the point of claiming we said the opposite of what we said; calling us crazy and insane and saying we should be institutionalized; blaming us for horrific and violent ableist harassment of people who also reblogged the same post we did who disagreed with us; and directly talked over and erased my experiences as a severely disabled person.

(What I said literally boiled down to: "hey, let's not moralize having hobbies because it doesn't make people less capable of harm or more likely to be an asshole, and also please stop saying all disabled people are abled enough to have hobbies because I've been disabled enough before to not be able to have even consumptive (meaning like watching tv or listening to music) hobbies for long stretches of time". There's a similar longer version of that on my personal blog as well, but the harassment is on my shared disability sideblog.)

Like I guess I just... it's okay if people disagree, but the amount of other disabled people who were actively cruel and literally saying people like me don't exist and being so desperate to shut me up talking about my experiences with ableism that they spam harassed the blog is really hard. Like I've been on the internet long enough to know that this is utterly par for the course for disability discourse and even to know that any claim of "can you believe someone said [ridiculous thing] is ableist" is a dogwhistle that it's either manipulation of or outright lies about what the original disabled person actually said in order to shut down the actual conversation but...

I know you've dealt with this, so do you have any more advice on how to handle it than "turn off anon, temporarily turn off asks if necessary, delete the reblog if the harassment gets too much" (already done, mod health comes before discourse as a hard rule)? Especially for like, dealing with the internal emotions about it and not just the situation?

Um also if you don't want to answer this at all feel free to just like, put a stop sign emoji or something and I won't send any more asks about it. I know you publish all asks but since I know this is a stressful subject I still wanna let you know that I will NOT be an unsafe person if you just wanna tell me to fuck off X)

There's no one good way to deal with dogpiles, and you've already listed most of them. A couple more, randomly:

Make sure you take time away. Go see a movie bc it'll make you put your phone away, you know?

Have someone else look at your asks and emails so you ain't gotta.

Report shit. It won't really do anything, but it'll make you feel better, anyway.

If you're actually physically threatened or any of the things really twig your "something is really wrong," make a Google Drive folder and stash screenshots in case shit escalates to you needing to talk to law enforcement. If nothing else, it'll help you feel like you're in control.

The last one is more helpful than you'd think.

Regardless of what any mod on here personally thinks of "weird" content like that, nobody would ever seriously care about Glip if it was the only thing they did, like you mentioned it is only brought up in context to their real life abuse of animals, and how they coincidentally acted on their fetish for "showing kids things before they're supposed to" on their child audience.

Like for example, for the longest time nobody really cared about Glip's zoo content, sure, drawing their pokesona marrying and having graphic sex with a cat pokemon named after and modelled after one of their real cats, twigs was certainly weird, but it was never anything more than a weird footnote like the time Glip posted their period blood on tumblr.... Until Glip went on their public cohost to confirm rumors that they had sexually abused the same cat in a conversation where they were trying to get pity over their ex-husbands rejection of it. These are the characters who were left behind, who did miss the vanished, who are determined to get them back.

Pixel

Pixel is in their early-mid 30’s—a few years younger than their brother Wire. They’re nonverbal and have never spoken but have a knack and deep interest in creatively fiddling with technology. Especially mods. They were taught about it first by the older guys they stayed with as kids, then ran with it on their own. Now they’re the most specialized illicit modder in the underworld. But they aren’t prepared for life without Wire’s support.

Ly’ore

Ly’ore is in her early 30’s, Tril’s older sister. She’s organized, shy, and painfully awkward. She’s never really fit in with her loud and affectionate family, but she was really close to her sister. She can read too, and that and her organization skill led to her getting a better job at the factory—one with a fixed income instead of the balanced-to-equality ones of the floor workers. But she likes to be alone and in her free time she either goes up to the apartment roof or hangs out in the music store next door.

Acorn

Acorn is the youngest of the group at about 16. Xe is also one of the roughest. Xe never sits still, always shifting around and fiddling with xir intricate mods. There are cosmetic mods everywhere, even in the underworld, but Acorn took it much farther with a full set of wings complete with moveable feathers. Xe finds people and things. What xir employers do next is of no concern. Ly’ore hired xir to help find Tril, and after Pixel came to Ly’ore for help Acorn ended up helping both of them.

Ri

Ri was a modding addict, now in his late 30’s. He grew up in a comfortable home and then a still-mostly-comfortable foster home on the surface. He was never that good at school and was happy to leave and get a fairly basic job in a shop. He was the tough guy, the cool guy. The guy who had to be talked into his first mod but got such a rush from the new data and way of seeing the world that he couldn’t stop. When the regulation mods weren’t thrilling enough anymore, he sought out illegal ones. Until one of them was poorly made and filled his brain with static. He couldn’t turn off the calculations anymore and he couldn’t hold onto the human experiences around him or communicate his thoughts clearly. He lost all his friends. He lost his brother too to a similar issue. On good days he could do basic bookkeeping or loading on the docks for just enough money to keep them in an apartment and buying fast food. When he woke up one morning to find Du missing, he frantically went in search of him.

Wolfy

Wolfy is in her mid-50’s. She thinks differently than everyone around her. She sees things that aren’t there and struggles to speak like other people, her words coming out vague and jumbled. The only people who can understand her at all are Ri, who she sees sometimes, and Twig, who she waits for on the docks constantly. She’s mostly homeless, sleeping in parks and alleys, and the only reason she hasn’t been banished to the underworld is that her brother is a respected doctor and he convinces her to crash with him just enough that she technically lives there. She loves puzzles and pets and, more than anything, running around town with Twig. She’s devastated when she vanishes and might have wandered aimlessly except that Ri found her and said they should do something.

Void

Void has existed for 21 years but doesn’t really have an age. It was the first successful experiment of true AI—but by then there had been so many failures that they used old, mismatched, and clunky physical parts. Some could be upgraded, most could not. It was a huge deal at the time but they went on to make much sleeker sentient models and Void was kept around only because of the sentience rule. It was happy to play trivia with Peppermint and never really minded the lab confinement. And yes, Void chose its own name and pronoun (originally called he). It was deeply distraught after Peppermint was taken away but had no recourse—until a mysterious new friend showed up to break it out and find them.

Kitty

Kitty is in her mid-20’s. She grew up in the spires among the privileged few not exposed to Jhakour’s pollution. Her disability was never really an issue. She loved to read, especially mysteries, and with the sky trains it was easy enough for her to go out exploring alone or with friends. Her life was good. She had a big house, a loving family, a beautiful fiancée. But it all seemed a little dull. Which was why she read the surface news channels. Which was why she heard rumors about people vanishing. Her investigations led her to find Void and set off on a rescue adventure.

As Arclight’s artificial sun set, Lockdown entered the makeshift dojo, one of many in the giant floating ship-city, carrying a few bags filled with goods and supplies. The lights of the main room were dim, and he knew the dojo master was in the backrooms of the dojo. He walked over to the door in the back of the main room and went through into the hallway.

Before he could get very far, however, something dropped from the ceiling and Lockdown released a yelp as he was pinned to the floor. He felt his master sitting on his back, using his pedes to keep his arms pinned.

“Yoketron…” Lockdown muttered, not bothering to attempt to escape.

“Good. You’ve learned,” the white and gold monoformer stated. Lockdown felt a tapping on his helm. “Deposit your finds in storage, then meet me out front,” Yoketron commanded, then stood up from his place and walked through the door Lockdown opened.

The mishmash of a mech pushed himself up off the ground and released an unhappy grumble. He entered the nearest storage and put the various goods and supplies on the ground. They could sort through them and put them where they belonged later. He left that storage room, closing its door, before going over to the room designated as weapon storage. He took out most of the blades he tended to carry with him, along with the detachable mods. The only exception was a small sonic dagger, something he knew Yoketron had with him at all times anyways. 

Once the weapons were in their place, Lockdown left, closing any open doors behind him as he went. He went outside to the street, spotting Yoketron standing by the sign of the dojo. Before Lockdown could say a word, Yoketron turned, grabbed Lockdown’s hand, and promptly began walking away from the dojo. Lockdown tripped slightly from the sudden pull, but fell into step with the elder.

As they walked, the artificial sun disappeared over the horizon, and all over the city lights from all sorts of sources kept the city alight. Even from just the streets they walked down, Lockdown spotted lights coming from windows, basic street lamps, fairy lights, hanging mimicries (mostly hollow shells that looked like flying creatures hung above roads by basically invisible string), small greeting statues, lanterns, forgeflights imported to the city (he remembered being told forgeflights looked like metal fireflies), and the biolights of mecha all around them. Lockdown frowned when he noticed he didn’t recognize wherever they were going, and he knew most of Arclight like the back of his hand.

After (what he counted as) fifthteen kliks, they arrived at the location Yoketron dragged Lockdown to, a ship docked to the ship-city meant to be detached if need be. Lockdown got a look at the sign outside, ‘Kalioken Gardens’, before Yoketron pulled him inside.

“It’s not perfect, but it’s the closest thing without leaving Arclight,” Yoketron stated, as if he was asked a question Lockdown never spoke aloud. He was about to ask what Yoketron was talking about before he saw the inside of Kalioken Gardens. It was a massive room filled with plants of all types, from Cybertronian, to Regelian, to Earthen, and so many more he couldn’t hope to count. He heard the chirps of organic birds and bugs as they went about their business, the rattling of leaves and twigs signified other creatures scattered about.

Yoketron dragged him out to a clearing and they sat down. The animal noises radiated around them. Yoketron immediately went into mediation and after a few moments, Lockdown decided to join him. He smiled. It wasn’t what he expected, but he’ll enjoy it.

He likes soft things, music, simple cartoons, sensory videos, and sensory toys like kinetic sand. He hates bright lights, scary things, loud noises, and scratchy things.

oblivion oc? oblivion oc. this is my beloved Avon, in canon he is a dunmer bosmer mix but in the actual game he is a bosmer because even with mods it is near impossible to make dunmer look good in oblivion sometimes. I could sit and fuck with the settings for a while to do it but I just wanna play the damn game </3

in my version of the elder scrolls Canon all the heroes are related in some way, so for instance the Nerevarine and the Champion of Cyrodiil/Hero of Kvatch are brothers. They have a third brother of whom the Dragonborn is a direct descendant of. And yes, you can imagine being the lone brother of three with two major world saving heroes and you're just in the corner like "i grow tulips!" but we all have our place in the world!

I'll doodle my Nerevarine once I play a little bit more of Morrowind, it's just a bit of a learning curve for that game considering the game rolls a dice to decide if you hit the enemy EVEN IF THEYRE SO CLOSE YOU COULD SNIFF THEM but sure my nerevarine canonically at the beginning is a literal twig bos/dunmer who knows nothing but the fact that he was framed for a crime he didn't commit and now he's in the fighters guild because Caius Cosades told him to beef up. How did I end up talking about morrowind when I was sharing a picture of my hero of kvatch? Who fucking knows!

I do hope to get better at drawing armor, I know it's pretty rough but I'm totally new to that particular thing. I'll need to do some studies or stuff to figure it out but I'm essentially a self taught artist so I don't have a lot of like specific techniques I just kinda go for it. Even so! I can do a more introductory post for my hero of kvatch and maybe some screenshots of him in game as I replay the main quest. Same for my Nerevarine! I just hate tfc in Oblivion because every time I do it I have to restart otherwise I literally can not interact with anything. The first time it happened at Weynon Priory I thought my save broke barely 30 minutes in ;;

2. What’s their biggest regret?

not listening to his family when they said he shouldn't work for arasaka, that there were better ways of making money, where he wouldn't have been corrupted by a corporation. regrets everything he said to his boss, that eventually lead to him almost dying - he replays that moment in his mind so often, thinking of a million different ways he could have handled it better. if he didn't raise his voice, if he said something, literally anything, else.

3. How would they fare in a zombie apocalypse?

would absolutely die in order to save everyone else, if that was the only way. always offering himself up as bait though, even if there were less bloody ways around things. i think. regardless of what universe he would exist in. part of him would always kind of Want to die. and. well. i'm feeling normal about it

4. Where do they see themselves in five years? Ten?

fun fact there was a time where he didn't even see himself going into the next day <3 eventually he would try and fade into the background of the gang a bit, if they're all still together. he's still the leader, some members have come and gone, but he's still there, he's still planning jobs, doing paperwork, helping people in any way he can. but he's taking a step back from all the action. he needs a break!! he just wants to settle down!! fall asleep in front of a fireplace at 6pm with his boyfriend!! is that too much to ask. that's literally all he wants.

6. What are they like in the bedroom — well-rounded lover or wooden plank?

EHEHEHEEHE,, he's been around enough times to know what works and what doesn't. and you know what!! he's very good at it!! up for pretty much anything and everything [within reason. mostly] if you want to snap him like a twig, he's more than willing to let you do that to him. fling him around like a ragdoll. he'll enjoy it. as long as he can go absolutely ham on someone's thighs. thats all he asks. It Is Very Important To Him.

15. How would they describe themselves?

he has enough self-confidence to know that he's a good person, and he's doing the right thing, and that he is helping people, not just putting on an act and leaving them worse off. BUT he has also been cheated on enough times to think that no one actually loves him, that every relationship of his, no matter what kind, is temporary, and that they always come to an end because of him. number one word for him to describe himself would be "unlovable", so he's always doing the most for everyone - he DOES want to be nice, and he loves caring for other people, he's not putting on a front with that - but he's also scared that if, at any point, his kindness slips, and he snaps, then everyone's going to leave. because he was being 'fake' the whole time or something.

16. How would others describe them?

kind, loyal, selfless - to a fault. the gang loves him, so much. but the amount of times he's almost gotten himself killed, and will continue to nearly get himself killed, in order to protect them is insane. he'd step on a landmine if necessary. and for the whole gang, they seem to be everywhere, and they need to hold him back/ also scary, but in a good way - if he didn't come across as intimidating to a lot of people, they wouldn't have been able to take down as many corpos as they have, and that's Very useful.

26. What’s one topic they could never get tired of researching or learning about?

CARS. he will NOT shut up about cars. he needs to know the ins and outs of all his cars. all of everyone else's cars. and by GOD is he going to mod them. he's going to mod the shit out of them. AND!! he's going to repair them SO good if they ever get damaged. bc all the knowledge is in his brain. if he isn't on a job or doing paperwork, he's fixing someone's car. may as well live in the facking garage. also loves learning about cats. and plants. he needs to know everything about them too. AND STARS. TELL HIM ABOUT STARS. TELL HIM ABOUT SPACE. HE WILL BE LISTENING SO INTENTLY.

36. What’s their favorite thing about themselves?

HIS HAIR!!!!! despite the fact that he started greying Super early. he still loves it. takes Such good care of it. and it is VERY soft. also his knife skills. he is very good with knives, taught himself most of the stuff he knows, and he is Very proud of it.

37. What’s their favorite thing about their significant other, if they have one?

LICHRALLY EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING EVER. his smile. His Hair. the way he gets all HFDSGGGH!!!!!!!! when he's talking about something he likes, and then will Not stop talking about it. even if it lasted the whole day, he would be SO invested in every single word being said to him. the excitement. the flappy hands. (( I tend to avoid random conflict in RPs because...

1) It can lead to my character getting upset, and if they get upset, I get upset. Not because I’m personally offended, but because I feel so strongly for them that I’m empathetic towards them? It’s weird to try and explain. To be honest I tend to feel rather embarrassed and ashamed about the whole thing, so I generally don’t mention it. I’m mentioning it now, though.

2) It can lead to a legitimate fight. I don’t do fights without talking to the other mun involved first so we can both discuss a winner and talk about how the fight should go during the thread itself. If I don’t feel like I can talk to someone OOC about it, or if I feel like that person’s god-modding so they can “get a hit on the Big Bad Radio Demon”, I’m gonna decline the fight.

2a) Leading off the point above: I guess since I focus more on Alastor being a kind and clown-like sort of guy, people just assume he's a weak-ass twig that has no teeth, which makes him an easy target. It’s happened in the past, and they’re wrong. He absolutely has teeth and he will try to tear our your throat if you push him too far. It’s honestly kind of insulting when muns automatically think they can beat my muse to a bloody pulp without talking to me about it first. It’s happened. I very strongly dislike it.

what i constitute as trash is the items that have no use whatsoever (like no USE options in the dropdown besides donate/storage/gallery/auction/goat's treasure/etc) and examples are the soggy twigs, broken bottles, chewed pencils, and similar trash items or just EXTREMELY common items. stuff that (yes maybe SOMEONE collects like bones or shells or sea teeth) but no worth or turnaround when pawning.

also i don't know what you mean by some users having priority? the rarity wouldn't depend on the user?? no one will see the user anymore? the number only goes up depending on how hard it is to get (i know rarity 4 is used for items in DD boxes) i have handfuls of retired battle center HA items that i would happily donate because i know they would be worth something to newer users or users who want to hold onto old stuff. yes i could sell them but i would rather donate those so newer users or users who sell stuff can find use out of those items.

by no means did i mean "i want exclusively retired items in the tree" or "fancier things" in my first ask, just things that are usable/not trash. also your example?? who talks like that lmao 😂 yes older users will most likely have higher rarity stuff but no one is going to know who donates that stuff. also most users will appreciate something usable, i don't think anyone is going to shit on a newbie for donating their new bee stuff or cheap things (also again no one's going to see usernames anymore)

here's an example of my rarity list, a more extensive list would bring in shop prices and user prices, not complete and doesn't cover everything because this is a drama blog so who cares:

rarity 1: soggy twigs, broken bottle, chewed pencil, basically majority of the stuff in the "misc" section of the fishing archive are the best example because they are the easiest to obtain and will end up being dumped because they have no use. (do you remember the millions of popped balloons.....)

rarity 2: monthly battle stamps (because newer users can add them to the collection and they add up when you pawn them), unusable stuff from the gachapon or little brown boxes (like the june bugs or toothbrushes) shells, coral

rarity 3: toys and food from the gachapon (squirrel plushies, the wooden goat doll, etc), COMMON fish (anything before the newest update because they've been out for so long but newer users may not have them yet), monthly ha items (because the skewed arena drop rates make them extremely common, retired ones from the current year can sit here too and move up in rarity when you go back farther in the years), explore area ITEM drops and stamps, mostly cheap/easy to obtain items from the shopping center, baddy stamps, baddy plushies

rarity 4: retired monthly arena drops (maybe like 2021 and back), current year monthly battle center ADs, explore area ADs, newer gachapon items (the pencil case for example has 7 items in it, the origami box has 8 items, makes it harder to get specific ones), shopping center weapons+BPs

rarity 5: retired monthly battle center ADs (2021 and back), token items (any season), summer carnival and baleful boutique items, NEW fish, errand items, icons

rarity 6: staple DD items (pointelling carousel, lipstick), coffee and books (stat raising items)

rarity 7+: RETIRED/MONTHLY DD items, really retired stuff (2016 and back)

so actually yes i do think a revised rarity list would be quite helpful and no i don't think i'm whiny for caring about what kind of stuff everyone can have access to. i'm not rich and i don't care about the goatconomy lmao but i think everyone should be able to get some stuff they can use or at least not "trash" that won't be worth selling anyway. i'm not begging for a changeling or whatever i just don't want 10 soggy twigs. (also smaller reason but i'm just tired of people using the tree instead of the pawn shop so this would AT LEAST leave space for me to donate my retired HA stuff for others)

also i don't think it's dumb when one of the major parts of the site is collecting items, most (if not all) of the newest items we've been getting from the trivia game have no use but just look nice which is great for some collectors, but for others it's time put into something that could be instead put towards fixing up other site things.

The Bit: Postmortem babble

OK so basically the reasons why Chapter 4 took so excrementally long are:

I fucked around (said "ooh let's give it a big overarching Main Plot")

I found out (Main Plot hard :( )

There is a massive outtakes doc with no less than four different ways the main plot could have gone, from rough babbling to mostly-written scenes, and absolutely nothing worked until I reached a certain point of Y7 and met a certain bartender and almost threw my controller.

[spoilers for both The Bit and canon follow, Y7 and the little we know about Gaiden in particular]

• Now, at this point, the Kijin dudes showing up at the club had already been pretty solidly cemented in. But as I mentioned in the notes on the fic, I was still on the fence about Nishitani still being alive to tell them what to do. Anyway, at that point in Y7, I just threw up my hands and said "FUCK IT, NISHITANI LIVES" because if Kashiwagi can get ventilated by an actual goddamn attack helicopter and live, that bastard can survive a few measly bullets from a piddly little handgun. And I wrote pretty much that whole phone conversation between him and Majima right then and there and it just clicked.

• Kuroshi was always going to turn on Murasaki. However, I could not for the life of me figure out the exact mechanism by which that happened, as well as who his allies were, until I un-unalived Nishitani. There's a version where Kuroshi and Ito were both conspiring to take the shiny purple asshole down. There's a version where they both wanted to take him out for very different reasons and Kiryu and Majima had to each pick an ass to kick to keep them from killing each other and their boss. There's a version where Kei-chan was in fact the mole and he had to talk Kuroshi down from murdering Murasaki right there in the club! They all sounded so perfect until I started writing them down and went "yeah actually this is ass" and ctrl-x-ctrl-v'd it into the outtakes doc just in case.

• Yes, the Watase in The Bit is that Watase, as a wee babby grunt. Just imagine how different things could have been if he'd been the one that got bodied in the VIP room! To this day Majima and Kiryu both still occasionally break out in a cold sweat over that thought.

• (the outtakes doc also contains a lengthy bit of smut that just didn't work once I started nailing the plot down but anyway)

• I think my single favorite Majima-ism in the entire fic is him calling Murasaki a skidmark.

• I changed the ending at the last possible minute. The original had some great lines in it that I'm going to have to find a way to recycle but y'all would have absolutely hunted me for sport over it, lol. These boys have been through it in this fic, they deserved a little fluff at the end. You know, as a treat.

• So uh. You know how since the Gaiden trailer dropped I've been making coy little noises about a character in The Bit being a strong candidate for Nishitani the Second? yeah. :) Nishitani retires in the early-mid '90s and hands over both the name and the Kijin Clan to Kuroshi, who in turn passes them on to #3 at some point. There is some lampshading in Tactics about this being a Dread Pirate Roberts situation. Kei-chan never actually joins the Kijin Clan, though he's a close enough "friend of the family" that he might as well have (he runs a "game shop" that is a front for a console modding chop shop and bootleg video game ring). Within a year he's spitting Kansai-ben like a native. Kuroshi, meanwhile, never manages to shed his snooty Tokyo accent and Nishitani gives him no end of shit about it.

• Kiryu's guess at Kuroshi's irezumi was close: the main element is a black snake killing a tsuchinoko. According to folklore, tsuchinoko are associated with liars and have a taste for alcohol. That was absolutely a conscious decision on Kuroshi's part, but it would have been an oblique enough reference that Murasaki wouldn't have twigged to it. Of course, there's a good chance that penny dropped at some point while he was soiling his shiny purple pants on the floor of the Valentine, but too late. :) He's got a lot of other shit too--he is inked all the way to his wrists and knees--but the murder snek is the important part.
