JEKYLL AND HYDE PONIES, AND YES, LORE EXISTS

Hyde on his own, and basically just a blog post with thoughts and process notes under the cut!

Personal Notes

Exams have been killing me, and i am, finally done!! Wooo!! Yeah, time for a break year, i hope I'll have more time for art :))

Anyways yeah, silly Jekyll and Hyde ponies, this is my biggest fixation here over the last year, its killing me, could genuinely turn into a special interest at this rate.

anyways, these two came about out of a want to illustrate book Jekyll and Hyde, but humans just, hurting me to draw atm, so ponies instead.

Design Notes

Shape! I wanted Jekyll to feel Big and Bombastic, fat Jekyll rights (although, I admit, I don't think I made him fat enough here, I'll out more effort into that in later pieces/sketches. I hope to develop their shape specifically a lot.) In contrast, of course as described in the book, Hyde is smaller, younger, and sharper. I gave him the teeth from the 1931 movie, cuz that's honestly the only part of that design I like apart from the flesh that starts to melt at the end of the movie (cough cough, racist charicature)

Colors! Admittedly a bunch of this was simply done because i thought it looked good. Jekyll feels inherently blue to me, and Hyde being toxic green just felt appropriate. But also, having them purely be cold would not be the most balanced pallete. I wanted to give them both warmth. Jekylls warmth comes from his Vest and Cravat, clothes he dons as an expression of his class and social standing. He cares a lot about his position in the upper crusts of London's society, and plays into his role with care. The colors on him that stand out the most, his warmth and his sociability, is performative in its expression. Hyde's only warmth is in his yellow-red eyes, from living an (exaggerated) version of his authentic self.

Cutie Mark! Potion bubbles mmmmmm :)). Important note tho! The cutie Mark DOES NOT CHANGE between the forms! Hyde is Jekyll! A truly fucked up Jekyll, a Jekyll most likely under the influence (in this au canon: definitely under an influence)

Also fun fact! These pony designs are based on my pony town designs of Jekyll and Hyde :3

Anyways yeah, when I've settled into my new apartment I'd like to explore these two buggers a bit more. Strangely enough, I believe the my little pony friendship is magic universe has some deep implications for the Jekyll and Hyde story, that I am very grasped by.

all of the above. they chuckle a lot when amused/endeared by something, they get super giggly when theyre around people they enjoy or when theyre giddy about something, and boy do they cackle when smth is really funny. like a damn hyena.

mmmmmm yes i'd say so. i'd say when they're like super ecstatic and giddy, its usually in situations that are Not funny, and it can come off quite disturbing when they start laughing. they also get a bit of a nervous laugh but u dont see that often since they rarely have a reason to get too nervous anymore

for the second part i can say without a doubt they found a lot of stuff relating to death Hilarious and it gets awkward sometimes. the first, mmmmmmm... they dont get a lot of memes..... theyre old

1. dog food - 100 gecs: mm yummy girlkibble just for me ^w^ also very yummy song. the beginning gives me goosebumps every time, and the ending vocal noise feels very eating kibblecore.... u agree right? umm 8/10

2. Chocolate Matter - Sweet Trip: if there were something out there generically called like "chocolate flavored matter" i think id eat it. also DELICIOUS song lots of variety and good texture here 9/10

3. Cream Soda no Yuutsu - ......... : ill admit im not much of a cream soda fanatic. nothing against it in fact it sounds quite yummy at the moment i just don't really have it ever. similar feelings about the song. good i just haven't listened to it much.. feels like im on a cream soda beach being soaked in the waves 7/10

4. Lean Beef Patty - JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown: mmm yumm yummy yummy scaring the hoes for dinner AGAIN fuck yesss 🥰😻 however just a patty? in a state of being .. maybe cooked? could just be raw meat on a plate. hmmmm. while the song would be near perfect yumminess on my Violet Yumminess Scale the title brings it down a lot... ill say 6/10

5. honeydew blue - 800 Cherries: oooh double fruits on this one :3c melons besides the famous wawermelon aren't really my go-to fruit snack but id have a little if u were having some o_o and like u were making it look really good idk... oh and id have a few of those 800 cherries u have too even tho i said i didn't really like those too... also the song is what i hear when im full from a nice fruit meal. and the triannnggllleeee 😩 chews on it. it is metal. i was gonna give this song an 8 but me not liking honeydew that much should not bring it down this song is a 9/10 yumminess

6. Fresh Meat - Diet Tea Other Cola: yet again we run into the clash between song and title yumminess. fresh meat: the song's yumminess comes from dtoc's slick lyrics and how they mix like backing screams into these songs with little midi beats? i think they're an interesting artist but thats for another time. fresh meat: the food however? would maybe not be as yummy i think. 4/10 bleh!

7. Princess Lunas Glorious Grilled Cheese Sandwiches - Cats Millionaire: i would do unspeakable things to a grilled cheese rn. especially if it was one of princess lunas 😳.... isn't my favorite off fun fun fun but is still yummy in its own right! 7/10

8. Hotel Breakfast - Bladee: listen if there's a whole buffet of shitty breakfast food im there. and if there's a bladee song about it im also there. wait he missed the hotel breakfast bc he slept too late? rookie mistake. 6/10 for missing it lol

9. Stir Fry - Migos: mmmmmm im just making myself hungry now. personally id fuck up some stir fry. chunky ass noodles. little corn. shit. and this Migos song? yummy enough to back it up 8/10

10. Piggy Pie - Insane Clown Posse: hmmmm if we're talking like a pork pot pie from the freezer section yeah sure yummy as hell. however im not sure about these fellas food handling credentials or their ingredients..... song is very crunchy and record scratchy and yummy however so to balance all this. a 7/10 yumminess :3

About the black fur due to the burning of a mountain and if Macaque then would be dirty.

Let's make it one of the traumatic events that left it's trace on Macaques appearance. Snice these monkeys are magic its fun to torment them in a new ways. There's a belief in certain cultures that hair sucks up any energy, including negative one, like a sponge that's why it's good to cleanse it and cut it regularly. Let's apply that to fur too!

So when mountain was burned it was an event that caused a lot of misery, a lot of negative energy. Macaques fur wasn't only stained by the sage, coal and ash but also by negative energy. And it wouldn't matter how hard he tried to wash it off it wouldn't go away.

It probably would go away with time as he attempted to heal mentally if not for the path he took further in life. So it stays stained black.

Macaque is still kind of a stinky but because of different reasons hshraph

18 - mmmmmm very different for the three of them (im answering for oastex charas bcs theure the most developed). Ishawuu and Yoki (the the beginning) are both rlly similar actually- They both work under the basilisk in some way or another, and through different means they both had basically everything taken from them so their entire worth is based on their success in working there. Yokis job is a social guard, so he does a lot to investigate and capture criminals/defectors so he holds his ability to hide his identity and to work efficiently in very high regard. Ishawuu is of much lower standing, so her most vauled trait is anything that results in praise or approval, esp. experimentation.

Day on the other hand values his resourcefulness and ability to make things work out- He works as an organ seller and its rlly difficult to get his hands on ones in good condition so hes very proud of the fact that he's gained a knack for finding them.

25- OHHHHH man this would rlly depend on what happened. Day obv. has the example of his brother- his bro was rlly the only one he cared about, and when he died he completely shut off until he basicly had a factory reset

Yoki didnt directly witness the deatb of anyone, but he did see his mother (presumably) be disgusted by and disown him. Pre-grandmaster Yoki was a rlly big family person so regardless of how he woildve lost his fam, he would've completely broken and latched onto whoever was the furst to come by and offer help. In this case it was the grandmaster

Ishawuu.... would def depend if its pre- or post- chip malfunction. Post would be a lot of standard grief, being heavily reliant on the guidence of the basilisk and throwing herself into her work. Pre- is rlly hard tho... I think she would kill herself ngl

If you had to guess any number for how many chapters it's going to take for Bnha end what would be your guess? I feel like mine would be between 30-40. Maybe 35 roughly.

Mmmmmm I’m not sure

30-40 seems like not enough, but also more than that seems like too much 😭. It’s hard to tell, but there is seriously a LOT that has to be done.

So far the fights we’ve seen hit an “end point” (meaning the characters will shift scenes I’m betting) are Endeavor/AFO and Shouto/Touya. Shouto/Touya took 3 whole chapters to conclude. Endeavor/AFO took 4 whole chapters to conclude (should have been 3 tho).

All the other fights I don’t expect to take more than 2 or 3, hopefully:

Spinner/Shouji

Mina/Kirishima/Machia/whoever killed Midnight

Aoyama and whoever that dude is

Ojirou/Sero/Sato and whoever is there

The obvious big ones like Shigaraki/Midoriya and Toga/Ochaco—-> which both should get at least 3, but for Shig I’m expecting a lot more than that since he has a lot more elements to his fight than just Midoriya. But in total these two fights alone should probably fill up a volume on their own. Shigaraki’s fight I wouldn’t be surprised if it took up to 10 chapters to do. Seriously, there’s a lot involved for him (we still haven’t followed up on his scars disappearing ಠ_ಠ).

Then there’s the lying-in-wait plot line with Aizawa and Kurogiri.

We KNOW Compress is coming back, so how and when? And what after?

Stain has GOT to come back, there’s no way he doesn’t. So how and when?

There was an obvious hint dropped that Shiketsu high would be thrown into the mix later (which I’m kinda excited about, the remedial lessons arc grew on me lolol).

There’s the civilians at the shelter that are getting prepared to overthrow things and start trouble within the shelter where all the families of the kids are. That still hasn’t happened.

I’m sure “the big 3” will appear again, though I’d rather skip that.

Then we still have a new AFO to fight off, which I’ve always predicted would be a Shigaraki/Midoriya/Bakugo team up while the rest of the LOV help save people from the rest of AFO’s army in other areas.

Which brings me to my next point: Twice. And whatever conclusion Hori is gonna slap together for Hawks on that front.

This doesn’t account for all the transition chapters either that take up space, like chapter 353 for example. They’re necessary, but they do take space and time.

Then I mean there’s the actual ending. The conclusion, which on its own is probably gonna be a few chapters. I’m dead serious when I say I 100% expect another concert at the end, otherwise why put this in there:

So I mean…..there’s a lot. On one hand, Hori can get a lot done quickly if he focuses on the right things. On the other, he does derail sometimes and it throws everything for a loop.

For now I’m guessing that whether it’s the plan or not for the author, 50-60 more chapters is what we’re looking at. That’s just playing it safe though. I’d be plenty happy if it concluded before that in a good way.

OH!! oh i love baklava so much its my favorite but i can never get it fresh around here -_- there used to be a place in town that made a baklava cheesecake and i would order it every year for my birthday it was amazing!!! they closed during covid tho :( but it was OUGHHH so good. normally i like salt but something about like. maple syrupy, caramel-y, cheesecake-y flavors just do it for me.

Zhancheng, naturally, as I am obsessed w purple grape man and find his mutual hateship with Mr. Ice Statue very fun. I love pretty enemies to lovers ships. They're just so funny when you have an outside perspective. Also, mutual healing >>>>>

Ningxian is good. Kind of messed up and makes me sadder than I'd like to feel but still good. I often think about writing frankenstein AU for them but I have no idea how I'd go about it and I HAVE ENOUGH PROJECTS NO

I also like WWX with NHS during Cloud Recesses or modern era but specifically as casual buddies who look at porn together and kiss sometimes

Then I also do enjoy WWX and LWJ with various Qishan Wens (Lord Supervillain in Red and his fed-after-midnight children) in AUs where the Wens win. Very dark and exists primarily in my own head but still very fun.

How could I forget.... Chengxian, my beloved. I usually prefer them as platonic because there is def an oversaturation of romantic content in fandom but they're good as romantic too. I love how they used to get each other and get TO each other. I love making my faves uncomfortable and these two are perfect for embarrassing each other or making each other want to cry.

I don't understand WWX/JZX at all because you're just doubling the peacock and not adding additional flavors but you do you mwah

Insect glaives

Sturdy Glaive - BEAUTIFUL final form. As good as your current weapon, if you have Monster Broth and Zinogre Claw+ for upgrades.

Shell Intoner - final form is purple 🥺 💜 wowm....,, Need it

Assault Glaive (sleepy lol) - looks neat fully upgraded, two slots, no violet sharpness tho, but sleepy >:3

Sect Happa - sharpness kinda meh unless you have the sharpness boosting skill, BUT has 899 damage! Most others are in the 700s.

Najarala is the weakest I've seen and it only has one slot and it looks like there's a silly face on it or something :3 RIP. I love Najarala but I don't like this weapon

Zamtrios - looks kinda silly, but THREE SLOTS, and 806 attack, and 300 Ice Element :0

Seregios - okay kinda eh sharpness BUT remember that it auto sharpens when you dodge. Only ONE slot but 899 damage. No element??? No effect???? Maybe that's wrong? I figured it would have the same as the seregios

Brachy - oooooo 390 blast.... 873 attack, one slot. Sharpness fair but no violet. Mmmmh!!! Tough decision. NO slots. 480 thunder element tho and 868 attack. Meh sharpness.

Kirin+ (Violin) - ohhhhh 😍 okay so only one slot, fair sharpness w/o violet, BUT 560 ice element. Only 744 attack, but +35 defense! No affinity. Looks like a unicorn put goth girl purple eyeshadow on its horn (looks cool)

Rajang/Metal Mauler - mmmmmm -20% affinity is blehh

Dalamadur - 😍😍😍 ohhhh. 930 attack???? NICE sharpness!!! 320 blast!!! One slot. I don't even know what a dalamadur is but ooooooo.. uh base name is direspike

Heavens Fire (Rathalos) - one slot, 20% affinity, damage is 868, okay sharpness, 370 fire. Kinda cool

Daora - whoaom it looks like a tentacle whirlpool on one end cool! One slot, 10 affinity, 320 ice, ehhh kinda pretty meh sharpness, tbh not a top contender except for the cool look lol.

Ukanlos - yeehaw motherfucker??? 1116 attack????? Ohhhh +20 def BUT -30% affinity YIKES. One slot and ice 120. Sharpness is....pathetic tbh, barely sharper than my regular shell intoner. Also looks like some weird spikey thing, not graceful like I would prefer :3 oof that attack tho

Fatalis - hmm ok visual vibes. Oh hot damn. 3 slots, +40 def, 837 attack, 520 dragon element. Sharpness is barely better than my regular shell intoner. BUT those slots might make up for it with a sharpness skill addition.

Medusa (Najarala+) - uhhhhh the vibes.... Not my style... No slots but 15% affinity. 837 attack, 320 water. Mmmm..... No..... Turquoisey and has the silly face looking thing. RIP again Najarala.

Color Var Zamtrios - nah. No slots, eh element, eh all around. Does have 150 para.

Diablos - attack 1054 but -10% affinity. Sharpness..... Huh. Well it has a HUGE blue section but no violet. Even with sharpness upgrade. Mmm no slots and fire 330

Black Diablos - eh there's better picks.

Stronger S. Magala - oh funky. -25% affinity unless ur frenzied, then +10% affinity. No slots, 90 dragon, 800s attack.

Caster (Chameleon?) - oh no it's pretty. 480 POISON WHOO. 2 slots, 837 attack. No affinity. Sharpness rather meh--DOES have white, but barely, and then blue isn't very long.

Stronger Eldaora - oh fuck that's sharp. Full sharp bar. Bit of violet, bit of white, then a long section of blue. 930 attack, ice is 200, and -35% affinity RIP. NO slots either. Oof.

Stronger Fatalis (Hellruin) - oh nice 2 slots 560 blast. Attack 837, affinity +15%. Mmmmm nicer than the other Fatalis. I do like the affinity and blast. Sharpness pathetic tho. Small strip of blue and that's it. DOES gain a tiny bit of white and violet with sharpness boost.

Messenger's Mark - oh no. Only ONE slot okay. 110 sleep. -10% affinity. Oof, violet sharpness with a decent white section and then a fair blue section. 899 attack. BUT OH MY GOD ITS SO PRETTY. Description claims it is made from darkness from the netherworld and indeed it has those vibes. Goddamnit I might need it. Its pretty.

OH THATS ALL. RIP.

Oh wait one more Fatalis (soldier/overlord) with a sopping wet meow meow sharpness and 868 attack and no slots or affinity and 450 thunder. eh.

This has not helped me narrow down my chosen weapon. This has only made me want to make a Frankenstein insect glaive by duct-taping my favorite ones together into a big bundle. My brain has a bad suggestion for a name. I could call it Kindling though lol since it is just a bunch of fuckin sticks.

Rating the Christmas songs on Tidal's Christmas Classics playlist

I only have some shame saying that I like most Christmas music, even when I was working in retail, so understand this is not written by someone going "ooooh grr Christmas music sucks." But I noticed Tidal's Christmas playlist is packing a few deep cuts, and I thought We'd have a little fun and give em some ratings (going until failure--there are a lot of these)

Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You: 7/10 Is it safe to say this song is about as ubiquitous as any Christmas song ever written? It has the benefit of the singer not being dead, which must go some way towards its popularity. Any potential overplay disregarded, there are things about this song that work. I like the bells at the top, the backup vocals are funny, Mariah's got some pipes. I'm never itching to throw it on, but it's rare I skip it.

Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree: 5/10 I respect the retro vibes, I do, but this song has never done much for me. It's best moment is referencing a better Christmas song. Rockin' is a load-bearing word here, and I think it has some people thinking this song is more fun than it is. Saxophone is fun.

The Temptations - Silent Night: 6/10 Most of the points are coming from just how much this song is doing. Not a standard cover of Silent Night at all. Very chill atmosphere, everyone sounds dead on. Don't think I need it to be the six minutes that it is.

Bobby Helms - Jingle Bell Rock: 4/10 This is another song people trying giving a pass for having some snazz to it, but folks, I do not understand it. It's so boring. That's All I got

Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song: 9/10 I'm compelled to give every Nat Christmas song a 10, and it only loses a point for being The Christmas Song. Not a big favorite of mine. I do appreciate how loose it is, but lyrically it really does feel like going through the motions. Nat is always packing a punch, tho, so it ranks.

Wham! - Last Christmas: 4/10 I'm sorry, Wham!. No one would love to have a Whammer rank than I, but the hook is so boring. The synths are very clean, honestly the instrumental does the heavy lifting, this one.

Bing Crosby - The Little Drummer Boy: 3/10 Again. Bing, this hurts me more than it hurts you. Not your fault. It's The Little Drummer Boy. There are no depths to which this song blows ass. He's such a great voice that he probably has the best version possible, but still. 3.

The Pogues - Fairytale of New York: 9/10 Pleasant surprise. Never heard of this song before now, or The Pogues. This vocalist is so boozy sounding, it's great. Piano is very whatever sounding and then the FUCKING accordion busts in the tempo jumps, Kristy MacColl joins the battle, and shit ramps up so fast. Halfway through the song I was ready for a 5 and my tune thoroughly changed. Have to respect it.

Donny Hathaway - This Christmas: 8/10 Didn't know this song was this old. I'm a fan, and this incarnation ranks with the best ones. Drums are so good, Donny sells it. If you like fucking on Christmas, I'm just saying you have options.

Boys II Men - Let It Snow: 6/10 Points for originality, but I've never really been a Boyz II Men boy/man. This is another one that feels a lot longer than it is. Christmas R&B has a hell of a time coming up with things to sing about other than Christmas activities with your special friend. "god must have sent you down from heeeeeeaaaaaaaven" is a good moment.

Frank Sinatra - Let It Snow: 7/10 I will always rank Bing over Frank, I'm afraid, but I'll give it up for him. He does as good as you can do with this job, the backing vocals halfway through make for a fun, unique moment. Most Christmas covers fall on their face when they try to add anything new, which I cannot say for this one. Part where Frank says "that fire is mmmmm delightful" gives me the heebie jeebies.

Elton John - Step Into Christmas: 7/10 MMMMMM. It pains me to only go as high as 7. I want to go higher. Come on. It's Elton. The hook is so fucking crisp. His pants on the album art. The la la la la la's. The RIFF mmmm. But I can't escape the feeling that there's one too many things going on in the composition. Especially if you're listening with headphones, and I suppose fuck me for doing that bc who listens to these songs alone. It's close to an 8, I'll say that.

Darlene Love - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home): 9/10 Powerful statement from a Christmas song with one of the less inspired hooks. But the instrumentation is everything to this song. And Darlene's got a serious voice. Oscar goes to the drums. This is an ideal song for hollering and Darlene was right to go for it.

The Jackson 5 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town: 4/10 Here's where I delegitimize this entire list, bc I can't say I love any of the Jackson 5 Christmas efforts. Like, I already don't care for this specific song at the best of times and no I don't think the "sAAAAnta Claus" so many artists go for saves it. Sorry, Tito, Jackson 5 member I've selected at random.

Eartha Kitt - Santa Baby: 10/10 Yeah, you heard me. I do not understand thinking the hate in the slightest, apart from the awful Bublé cover. Eartha has one of the best voices of this era and she never gets the credit I think she deserves. Best Christmas song where a woman asks a very rich stupid man to buy her a platinum mine. "Come and trim my Christmas tree/with some decorations bought at Tiffany's." So good.

John Lennon/Yoko Ono - Happy Xmas (War Is Over): 5/10 idk, man. I didn't expect these two to do something generally appealing, in a way I applaud them for writing a Christmas ballad with a lil bit of sass to it. "Yes, Happy Christmas... to some people hmmhhmhmhmhmhmm." Why the Silent Hill strings.

Destiny's Child - 8 Days of Christmas: 8/10 "You know Christmas?" Great first line. Special place in my heart for all Christmas songs that are about and only about getting swagged out. Also for Christmas songs that feel incidentally about the holiday. Fun one.

Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas?: 0/10 Awful. Shit's for the birds. Deplorable pond scum. Might be my least favorite Christmas song ever. Breaks into being one of the worst Christmas songs ever, so fucking cloying and boneless. This song pats you on the head like you're a child. Get it out of here.

Bing Crosby - White Christmas: 10/10 Bing! Biiiiiiiiiiiing! It's Biiiiiiiiiiing! He's from Spokane! I'm from Spokane! Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Vince Guaraldi - Linus and Lucy: 10/10 All time rager for the ages, though I may somewhat object to it being a Christmas song. I welcome it, don't get me wrong, look at the score, it's just odd. There are most Christmas-leaning Peanuts songs on this very album. Alas. Great tune.

Justin Bieber - Mistletoe: 5/10 Oh, what? I'm supposed to give Biebs a zero on principle or something? I'll have you know he's got some earworms. Except I'm not so convinced this is one of them. idk, I feel like as far as subject matter goes, mistletoe as a tradition is low-hanging. Too easy. Try harder. Regardless, "the wise men follow the star/the way I follow my heart" is uh--its good. It's a good line.

Michael Bublé - I'll Be Home For Christmas: 6/10 inoffensive. That's what I got. Buble can lay it down when he wants, but almost all of his Christmas diddies are just going through the motions. Rarely does he make it his own, and when he does we wish he didn't (google Santa Buddy). Eh.

The Ronettes - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus: 5/10 Tempo is fun, and Ronettes are always a treat. This is another case of a song just being really hard to make fun. Not a favorite of mine, but I don't totally hate it.

Elvis Presley - Blue Christmas: 9/10 Apologies in advance, I really fuck with this one. Never a skip for me. If you already don't like him, this one song will not change your mind. My grandpa could do a mean rendition of this one; honestly might be what I'm thinking about with this rating.

John Williams - Home Alone Theme: 7/10 Good on Tidal for tossing this one in. Good Christmas playlist has a variety of pulls. Can't say I love it, John always did have a "sound" for any film involving children and it's not my favorite type of work from him. Still, nice to see it here.

The Temptations - Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer: 3/10 Sorry, lame song removed from Rankin-Bass. Temptations are really going for it, but they don't melt my chilly heart.

Judy Garland - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas: 8/10 Before embarking on this, I actually didn't know Judy Garland had done any Christmas music, let alone a whole Christmas album. I'm into it. Anyone else ever think the title of this song sounds a bit facetious?

Gene Autry - Frosty The Snowman: 6/10 Can't get too mad at this one. Combination of the album art and how goofy this version is. Saying it's bad feels like telling a six year old they're acting cringe. Good for Gene, he knew what this song is supposed to sound like. If nothing else. And I think there's literally nothing else.

The Jackson 5 - I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus: 2/10 Man, I was about to rate this one seriously, then the kiss sfx played two seconds in and i winced so hard my hand slipped and I hit the 2 key. Crazy. But seriously, I can't do this one. Michael's performance borders on his worst ever, but I'll give him credit for just how long he holds the note at the end. Also funny how the implication of the outro is a large group of people attempting to silence him. S/O to whichever one tells him to shut up, lmao.

The Supremes - My Favorite Things: 9/10 I'm not the arbiter of what is and is not a Christmas song, but this song's on thin ice. That said, I like this version a lot. Maybe more than the original. The oooooOOOOOoooo's are fun. The big band feel does a lot for this one.

RUN-DMC - Christmas In Hollis: 10/10 Heeeeeellllllll yeah. You gotta hand it to them. Not a request. Hand it to them right now. Rocks so hard. Turning them in a spotless peer review.

Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime: 3/10 Okay. I'm aware opinion on this song is split. For some, this is a Christmas diamond in the rough. Some people cannot stand it. I'll tell you what, the synths do create a mood of sorts, annoying as they get. That and I don't love the jingle bells that start and simply do not stop. Also feels like the songs runs out of things to do like a quarter of the way in. Can't say I hate it, but I'm far from liking it.

Wizzard - Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day: 2/10 This sounds like a Christmas song written as a tax write-off. Not an original bone in its body, I forgot this one as soon as it was over. Poor effort.

Chuck Berry - Run Rudolph Run: 6/10 Very eh on this one. This isn't a sound criticism, but it just sounds like everything else Chuck was doing at the time. This is another song I forget exists until the holiday season. Chuck's done better.

The Jackson 5 - Up On The House Top: 4/10 Just learning of this song right now. I mean, this version. They still aren't getting to me, sad to say. It's a little fun, but hmmmmm. Not stunning me.

Johnny Mathis - Sleigh Ride: 9/10 I'll be real. I rank Sleigh Ride. One of my preferred tenured Christmas songs. Johnny perfectly executes, too. Some versions are doing way too much, this one does just enough. These wonderful things are the things we remember all through our lives...

Alvin and the Chipmunks - The Christmas Song: 10/10 WOOOOOOOOOOOO. Love this one, I don't care who knows. Total earworm, I am a child again. You get basically all the Chipmunks lore in like twenty seconds total. Marvel of worldbuilding. I STILL WANT A HULA HOOOOOOOP (starting to feel the strain of writing all of these)
