On the way back downstairs, he pauses to show me a photograph on the wall, a portrait of George, Ringo and himself, standing under a tree. It was shot for a magazine cover in the grounds of this very studio while they were working on 'Free As a Bird' in 1995, the song, written and sung by Lennon as a demo tape in 1977, that subsequently became the first Beatles single in 25 years. There's something ineffably sad about the photograph, the fact that it is just the three of them, and that since, another one of them has gone. Then McCartney points to a white peacock that seems to have sneaked into the picture, stage left, and is peering directly at the camera. 'That's John,' he says, smiling. The bird, which had strayed from a neighbouring farm, walked into shot just as the photographer pressed the shutter. 'Spooky, eh?' says McCartney. 'It was like John was hanging around. We felt that all through the recording. We even put one of those spoof backwards recordings on the end of the single for a laugh, to give all those Beatles nuts something to do. I think it was a line of a George Formby song. Then we're listening to the finished single in the studio one night, and it gets to the end, and it goes "zzzwrk nggggwaaahh joooohn lennnnnon qwwwwk". I swear to God. We were like, "It's John. He likes it!"'
Spending even a little time with McCartney is a salutary lesson in the art of survival. We tend to forget that, though. We forget that he, too – Fab Macca, forever grinning, thumbs aloft – is a fully qualified survivor. We forget that he survived the whirlwind of the Beatles, and the long years of living in their shadow, and the terrible fallouts and the recriminations. We forget that he has had to deal not just with the loss of John and George, but that he somehow has made it though the capsizing grief of losing his wife, and long-term soul mate, Linda. And, still, the tabloids scoff at his so-called cheeriness, and his choice of new partner. And still, we, the public, want more. We want ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Penny Lane’ and ‘Hey Jude’, as if those songs, and all the others like them, were not more than enough already. We want yesterday.
There’s a sense on Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard, though, that Paul McCartney is finally at ease with his legacy, with the weight of myth and history that he has had to carry, and has tried to shrug off, for so long. There’s a strange little song on the album called ‘How Kind of You’, on which he sings: ‘How kind of you to stick by me during the final bout / And listen to the referee when I was counted out’. It seems both poignant and pointed, sincere and yet sarcastic. It doesn’t seem half-hearted, half-baked, or half-finished.
‘Well, it’s about all the tragedies,’ he elaborates, ‘the Beatles’ break-up, things going wrong, and people writing me off . There’s this sort of therapy aspect in songwriting sometimes, and that’s one of the reasons I love it. If I’m feeling really low, I’ll take my guitar into the darkest corner I can find in the house, and go there and sit with it, and talk to the guitar, explain it all to the guitar. And it works,’ he says, as if he can barely believe it himself. ‘You come out of there, and it’s magical.’ With that, he starts singing another line from the same song: ‘I thought my time was up…’ And you can tell he really means it, even though, just by singing it, he seems to banish the very thought.

Henlo! Back to post Lee's Activation Day Mail! Unfortunately, I may have to postpone doing the JP version of Dim Light due to horrible weather conditions for recording. However, it won't affect posting the song translation itself. That aside, everything still is on schedule.

So tonight...
I wonder when was the last time I was dispatched on a mission with you. We do see each other in the break room, but it feels like we haven’t met for a long time now. Adapting to the Specialized Model has also been going well for me, so it’ll be a little while longer until I could join you on missions like before.
Speaking of which, I only saw a glimpse of it the other day, but… The gun you carry with you has become fairly worn out now, right? I thought you might need a new gun, so I modified this using some of the remaining core parts from my maintenance. The shooting range of the Guardian is relatively short, so please use it only when it’s an emergency. I’ve already loaded it with a set of 8mm bullets. Also, don’t forget to file the gun for registration at the Munition Management Center.
…I thought that I couldn’t meet you, so I sent you this mail. Are you free tonight? It’s not because there’s some kind of formality behind it, but I just thought that if I at least spend my Activation Day with you… it’d be memorable.
We’ll be waiting in the restaurant at Eden.

Pgr Headcanons
Sometimes you just having nothing important to do, and you figured, it won't hurt to lower your guard for a little while.
And so, you began to hum along a small tune. Your hummed the next melody as soon as the pervious one was finished, and the next thing you knew, you were in a singing trance. Without knowing, a figured walked in...
Watanabe (Nightblade/Astral)
Watanabe only allowed you, the Commandant of Grey Ravens to stay in the Oasis for the time being.
He only left you alone in their HQ meeting room to fetch something.
Alone, you were quietly singing a song leisurely as you wait.
Watanabe walked in, his footsteps were quiet and it didn't alert you.
He was surprised to hear you singing.
Watanabe would tune in and listen. The singing reminded him of his late friend, Bruce.
Watanabe said, "You got a nice voice...". You stopped what you were doing and quickly turned around, a little embrassed.
"Do you sing often?" he asked. You nodded, "when I am bored."
"... there is this song, that I think you would also like." "Really?" "It's a old song... a friend of mine taught me, but I am not good at singing. I simply think it's a waste to not have a good voice to sing a good song."
He basically sang it to you. (Please excuse his voice crack in some areas ;w;).
Sometime later, while you are waiting for your team to arrive, you would start to hum Bruce's song. Soon, you began to quietly sing it.
Watanabe just sat next you and listened. Reminiscing the good old days, while enjoying the way you sing as how the song is meant to be.
Sophia (Sliverfang)
Sophia heard your humming and decided to take a look.
She was curious about the song and enjoyed it. It was different than the ones she listened to in Akidelik.
So, she spoked, "Commandant... what are you singing?"
Her voice scared you, and you jumped. Turning around, you saw Sophia standing by the doorway, looking at you.
You have to explain to her that the songs are basically just songs one would listen to on a music player.
"Oh, so this is Eden's music." Sophia commented.
Sliverfang then proceeds to share her experience with music. It was usually music that the nobles enjoyed, or that Changyu would whistle tunes when he's on the job.
As you both chatted about the topic, Sophia suggested to have a duet. Given, she never really have the time or opportunity to sing.
She wanted to try whistling like Changyu.
And, she enjoys making music with you.
Needless to say, some passerby knocked to ask both of you to keep the noise down.
Lucia (Lotus)
She walked in on you singing a song. It was a simple tune, but she felt soothed by it.
So, whenever Lucia catches you alone and singing, she doesn't speak and just listens.
The more she does this, the more she remembers the tune and soon enough, she can sing the same songs.
Although, Lucia won't sing out loud. It's embarrassing for her, and to her, she only wants to hear you sing.
Because the song and your voice calms her in someway.
Funny thing is, she sees singing as a calming mechanism, if there was a situation in dire need of such, she would sing.
Eg. if a comrade or someone gets frantic or incoherent, Lucia would try to use singing; trying to mimic how you sang, as a way to calm said person or to distract them.
But that's only for the last resort.
"It's not me, it's thanks to Commandant's singing that helped."
Qu (Pavo)
She caught you humming a small tune to yourself, and recongises the song was from the time she played the Guqin.
Qu remained quiet and listened as you hummed. Paying attention to each note and rhythm.
She would genuinely be surprised if you can hum the full song with no mistakes.
The next time you visit Kowloong, Qu would alway think of other new songs to play on the instrument so she can boarden your musical scope.
But she rather teach you how to play the instrument instead. There's nothing better than hearing the tune being played by the unique pitch of the gut strings.
Politely, you declined the offer.
Kamui (Tenebrion)
Having to catch you once while you were quietly singing to yourself, he had been deliberately making rounds to catch you singing again.
The books never talked about that.
He was curious about the act of singing and wanted to know a few songs to try it out.
How do you manipulate your voice like that? Do you need to have a program to make your voice having such a big vocal range?
Kamui brings this topic up while you were hanging out with him. And, you tried to teach him how to sing.
Though, you were curious to see if Kamui can grasp the concept of it.
Which was kind of a mistake on your behalf, because after that, Chrome came up to you and said:
"Commandant, it would be better if this came from you, but Kamui has been singing non stop in the resting quarters."
"... Well, I guess he's having fun?" you replied.
"... It would be, if his shouting sounds more like singing. I have already received a few complaints from others. Please, Commandant, do something about this."

i have quite a few reasons on why i love him so big ramble incoming LMAOHSHFJS
i think one of the biggest reasons is just vibes alone lol. my type in general is usually big brute exterior, soft and silly interior like with nocti from pgr and aki from neural cloud
theres also a common pattern of having the most dorito bod + tiny grabbable waists ive ever seen but thats a whole other topic 💀
+ most of the time theyre all shirtless? 🤨 i keep unintentionally choosing the ones that are/go shirtless more frequently than other chars so thats another weird call out to myself hsjfjskf
legit when i first saw mammon my brain was automatically like "i NEED him." it was literally the same as how mammon fell in love w mc, love at first sight LOL
anyw looks aside i very much love his approach of "i'll be yours and so maybe one day youll choose me." its a nice change of pace from the usual "youre mine and i will do as much as possible to prove youre mine." he ald knows everyones gonna try to claim you, so he found a workaround that stood out from the rest (actual big brain move imo). idk i like the more passive approach of him just letting you go at your own pace and he'll be there whenever
most of his card stories (havent fully read his attacker card tho cause im stuck on needing his sig 😭😭) normally have him submit to you and let you do whatever you like, even reassuring you that no matter how rough (or gentle) you wanna be w him, he'll always enjoy it (cause he gets to spend time w you hHHSHFJSKFK 😭😭🥹🥹🥹) and being rough wont hurt him in the slightest. idk i like being in control in most ✨️spicy✨️ situations and for mammon to be like "do as you please" just makes me very happy :3

vera being a pain empath is such an interesting characterization, especially since she started as a support construct (basically a medic) and how that shaped the way she made senss of the world. how that informed the way she executed missions when she moved on from being support to being part of kurono spec ops, and then later cerberus.
and what's interesting is that she's a construct, so I'm wondering how did she even become an empath? like. her physical body was manufactured. they talk about pain receptors all the time. so in vera's case... is her sensitivity to pain a bug or a feature?
the way vera circles back to being death. the way pain has shaped her entire worldview. pain as proof of life, pain as a way to move forward. death as her way of carrying other people's burdens — whether it's to give them an escape (tifa), to give them an ending (lloyd), or to use it to lead others to victory (the constructs lloyd left behind)
she's just such an interesting character. and sooooo so charming. she has a reputation and puts up a front, but her entire attitude is built on a foundation of compassion. love her.
